Late evening. Bilbo sits by the fireplace and reads a newspaper. Suddenly baby Frodo, who should have been asleep, runs out of his room. 

Bilbo: What happened?

Frodo: *in tears* There is a huge spider in my room, I'm scared!

Bilbo: *rolls up the newspaper* You're a big boy, go deal with him yourself, here's a weapon for you.   

Frodo: No! Please help me! 

Bilbo: *sighs* Ok, let's go see your very big and scary spider.

In Frodo's room, the window is broken, and Shelob hangs above the ceiling, occupying almost the entire space.

Frodo: *huddles close to Bilbo and trembles*.

Bilbo: *swallows nervously* Well, newspaper won't be enough here.

“ He'd heard whispers of the wonders of Gentlefolk cooking. Many claimed that once you had tried it, any dish they tried from the other races tasted plain and bland in comparison. Thorin at the time had been skeptical, over his many years, and before Erebor's fall, the dwarf had the honour of trying many dishes of different cultures and knew that true delicacies were hard to find. How bewitching could the food of humble creatures truly be? While, yes indeed, he had had many dinners made by Bilbo on the road, finding that food was carefully scrounged together with what scant resources they had available in their packs or alongside their path to be satisfying in their own right. Now, however, he knew. He could now understand why the company would still reminisce each time it was the hobbit's turn to cook—as he often gave Bombur nights of reprieve—about Bilbo's impromptu feast that he had the misfortune of missing.

"Oh my God, Bilbo." He breathed, hastily shovelling another forkful into his mouth. ”

Calling all LOTR fans: I’m looking for some more good canon-compliant fics of baby/young Frodo. AO3 sadly doesn’t seem to have very many. My current favorite is linked below - a beautifully written fic depicting the day of Frodo’s birth. Great characterization of his parents and relatives.

But I’m eager to read more, especially those depicting Frodo with his parents; I love reading different ideas of what Primula and Drogo must have been like.

I’d love any suggestions y’all might have! :)

Share "Bilbo 'I don't know how to take care of children' Baggins"!

Okay so this idea was based of a Tumblr post, specifically this post.

Basically, it's a young Bilbo who agreed to be the godparent of Frodo thinking hed only see the boy every so often and get to spoil him rotten as he grows up. Bilbs never imagined that he'd actually have to take care of a young faunt (not sure if I want Thorin in the picture or not, and if he is there how did he get there? Still deciding which is one of the reasons this is in the WIPs folder.)

Anyways, I just like the idea of Bilbs struggling as/ growing to be a new parent with young Frodo.
