"ilya."

his fingers stop where they're struggling with a clasp on his pants, whole body falling back into that preternatural stillness again but for the slow drip of blood from beneath the bandages wrapping his torso and shoulder, and the perturbed twitch of one ear. for a moment it feels like ilya can't look at him, read in the set of his shoulders and the brief tightening of the muscles in his jaw before he drops to his knees to dig around under the low bed for something. fresh blood darkens the bandages as he bends and his face shifts briefly into a wince. an afterthought.

there's healing, and there's healing, aymeric knows, and ilya's will be slow. he didn't see it, the blow, but he's seen the aftermath, all that catastrophe barely averted. can still feel the knife in his own flesh, and that was a small thing compared to the blood he can still feel running down his arms in hot, wet rivulets as he hauled eorzea's hope into the chirurgeon's clutched to his chest like a prayer.

"at least let them restitch whatever you've torn," he says, wincing as ilya stretches further underneath the bed, finally withdrawing with a grunt, boots in hand. "you shouldn't be bleeding like that."

random child approaches shockwave on a park bench (skids is supposed to be in foster care but he likes to wander)

the school bus runs later and later and damus becomes steadily more stressed. his schedule is at risk mother, please fix this immediately

damus is very attached to his new brother (skids) and waits for him to get home from school every day, so whenever he's even slightly late damus becomes upset

damus also insists on staying up for an extra however-many-minutes were elapsed, because he insists he has a daily quota of "skids time" that he has to fill

pov: you're shockwave and you just told damus he can't stay up thirty more minutes
