Just on a whim I thought of some small head canon with my oc, the God of Plagues, Azrail with his little apprentice Iris, whose still a child.

Azrail being the god of all plagues in this pantheon, he’s usually disliked amongst mortals. He’s seen to be depicted as bad omen that comes to empires or kingdoms, bringing the God of Death along with him. A god that’s never worshipped and doesn’t have a convent of followers. This however doesn’t bother Azrail much, he doesn’t need nor do people want to thank him for doing his job.

Until he met the little mage. He never understood why this child of man was always so polite and cheery whenever they visited him. Were they not told of such cautionary tales these mortals told a thousand times? He’s seen murals and carvings of stone depicting the plagues he’s brought to mortals in large cities, death and destruction. He’s described as just something to disdain and remain as a constant reminder at how fragile mortals are. But being accepted some drawing from a child? A small drawing with HIM? It’s perplexing for Azrail to even see himself depicted in a more positive light rather than negative, a drawing from a little lamb as a gift who sees him as a friend. It’s both confusing and yet, he’s having a warm, fuzzy feeling seeing this drawing. It’s crude in nature because it’s made by a small child, he’s still appreciative of it nonetheless. He decided on keeping the drawing folded in his cloak, or might’ve put it somewhere safe in his realm. Azrail doesn’t have much of an ego but seeing this drawing from Iris, he’s never felt this content or happy over something so small. (Almost laughable but hey let the man do what he wants.) As Iris is growing to an adult he almost has the small urge of asking them if they could draw him again, but he’s kept the feeling well under wraps and is almost a bit embarrassed on wanting to admit such a thing or ask a mortal.
