I learned a thing. Learning new things makes me happy! It’s creates energy and Ease in my life, especially when it’s simple and fast. I’ve never seen something online and decided to try it. Until now. Dutch Baby looked so creamy and yummy and @leslie__burris on Instagram made it look so fast and easy that I decided to try it Yum-O. Soo good! There are a few things I might do a bit different…

Pizza Party! It’s our annual Pizza Party! Order today to receive your Individual Baby Stuffed Chicago-style Pizza delivered 2/10-2/17. We are a social business that commits part of resources to our community. At A Yogi Kitchen and Pantry we feel strongly about food, community, health and healing so our energy goes to feeding people, distributing groceries and necessities, teaching community yoga by donation and supporting community organizations with similar values. You are helping us raise funds to keep doing that. We need gas in our cars to deliver groceries to families with transportation barriers, to collect and distribute coats and blankets in conjunction with @thesunriseproject and to contour making yoga accessible to all in our community. When you order pizza from us today, we’ll make one for someone who might not eat today. The week of 2/20, we’ll be walking Mass Street handing out pizzas and driving them to families we serve. This fundraiser is part of our service and commitment meant to our community. Seva, means serving from the heart and February is all about heart! All links in the bio. Join our Pizza Party or make a donation on the website. #ease #seva #love #service #community #connection #pizza #chicagostylepizza #chicagopizza #ayogikitchen #sunriseproject #socialenterprise #fundraiser #lfk #kansas #lawrenceks #lawrence (at Lawrence, Kansas) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoZ7qARu3RA/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

It’s Seva day! Wednesday is the day that we practice loving care of others and at A Yogi Kitchen we choose to cook for our community. We just found bushes sautéing the veggies and the beans are already waiting to Veggie Chili. Next we’re mixing all together and adding the tomatoes. It smells so good in here! Join us tonight at @thesunriseproject , 1501 Learnard, from 5-7 for our Free Community Meal. This meal is vegan, but we always have vegan versions of whatever we’re making. We always provide something sweet and tonight we have a generous donation from @eileenscolossalcookieslawrence to go with our yogi-made sweets. We brew coffee and heat water for tea so you can snuggly into the cafe or the kitchen seating for dinner! See you tonight! #beans #veggies #veggiechili #chili #vegan #veganfood #eatyourvegetables #free #freemal #sunriseproject #ayogikitchen #community #connection #lfk #lawrenceks #lawrence (at Sunrise Project) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoIVtuHp6SH/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Sunday Invitaion
Sunday is a great day to set intention for your whole week. Setting intention is making a choice for how you want to live your life. I know that it often feels that we have to do certain things. However, shifting that thinking to choosing to do things puts the power in your hands and helps you feel ease, rather than pressure. So, let’s work on intention, a great way to focus on what you want…

The @thesunriseproject volunteer family rocked it again! Yesterday we spent the day together making tissue paper flowers, assembling seed packets to handout, painting a banner, making posters and eating pizza! We had the best afternoon preparing for today’s St Patrick’s Day Parade. We’re bundling up and headed downtown for the 1p parade. Join us in community on Mass Street. The thing I love about serving with Sunrise is that not only do we serve and enrich our wider community, but we create a volunteer community. We have so much fun together and engage in super fun activities. This year, in addition to the regular cooking family, I’m commuting to the garden family at Sunrise. I’ll get to not only cook for the community, but grow food for the community. Everything we do is open to ALL. Join us today and for all of our volunteer opportunities! We do it together! #stpatricksday #stpatricksdayparade #downtownlawrence #downtown #lfk #lawrenceks #lawrence #seva #service #servingfromtheheart #ayogikitchen (at Sunrise Project) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cp5Ts9quvLs/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Our new schedule is out and with it a new word. This session we’re focusing on a big concept, Ahimsa. Ahimsa is one of the yamas of the 8 limbs of yoga and is often described as compassion for all beings. Part of being compassionate is being non-judgmental. You cannot judge, yourself or others m, and be compassionate at the same time. So, part of the work of ahimsa is non-judgment. This week I’m asking you to notice how you talk to yourself. Are you able to be kind and gentle with yourself when you make a mistake? We’re going to focus on many aspects of Ahimsa over the next few weeks. We’ll take baby steps. This is life-long work and we’re taking tiny bites. Join us in yoga class, on the podcast, in the blog and in the newsletter to learn more about Ahimsa and become a practitioner of more than the physical aspects of yoga. You can join us from anywhere in world. We’re on Zoom for most of our classes. You can always request a class by texting 785-760-5412. All other links are in the bio. I often use the hashtag yogalife, cause that’s what yoga is to me. It’s being mindful of all the aspects of my life, not just the practice in the mat. Join us for more than just exercise. Join us to be open, aware and grounded mind/body/spirit #yoga #yogalife #nonjudgment #ahimsa #8limbs 8limbsofyoga #ayogikitchen #zoom #zoomyoga #mindfulness #mindful #yogapractice (at Lawrence, Kansas) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpN71z0O804/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Your Last Day Of Ease, Celebrate!
It’s Friday! At A Yogi Kitchen and Pantry, we use Fridays to celebrate our wins. Today is an extra special Friday. It’s the last day for you to focus on Ease, cause it’s the last day of our session. I invite you to close your eyes, put your feet flat on the floor, or better yet lie on the floor, and take a few deep breaths in through the nose and out through the nose. Just take a few moments.…

Up early creating Ease for a busy Pizza Party day! Starting a second batch of pizza sauce for all your orders now to make sure I have enough so that @slimzadie and I can have Super Bowl pizza tonight. The early hours are my favorite time to cook, so before we’re together on Zoom for Slow Flow at 10a, I’m filling the house with the smell of Italian cooking. Thank you so much to everyone who has already ordered for our Pizza Party Fundraiser! You’re helping us raise funds, but you’re also feeding people. When you order (we need 24 hours notice), we make a individual Baby Stuffed Chicago-Style Pizza for someone. A Yogi Kitchen collects and delivers groceries for families with transportation barriers. We’re making and delivering pizzas for them. We also keep our eyes out for a few unhoused people that we know. I keep warm clothes and food in my car for them and habitually drive Mass St looking for them, especially on nights that @thesunriseproject has their Free Community Meal. We share your donations with them and anyone else we happen to meet. Because you ordered pizzas, we’ll feed these people too! This is a beautiful intertwining of my passion for food with my passion for a yoga life. Seva means serving from the heart and I am so grateful to you for helping me be of service in this significant way. This is how community works. You still have time to order pizzas, we’re cooking and delivering until 2/17. Join us! All links in bio Text 785-760-5412 with any questions or to order if you’re having trouble with the website. Filled with gratitude and looking forward to practicing Seva with you! #ease #localfood #shoplical #local #pizza #pizzasauce #pizzaparty #service #seva #food #foodporn #grateful #gratitude #community #ayogikitchen #lfk #lawrenceks #lawrence #fundraiser #italian #italianfood https://www.instagram.com/p/CokTtPZraLJ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I learned a thing. I’ve never seen something online and decided to try it. Until now. Dutch Baby looked so creamy and yummy and @leslie__burris made it look so fast and easy that I decided to try it Yum-O. Soo good! There are a few things I might do a bit different next time. I ended up sprinkling a little salt on top, so next time I’ll add some salt to the batter. I might try a tiny bit more butter and a tiny bit less flour and see what happens. Overall, though a winner! If I weren’t a chef I probably wouldn’t think about trying anything different. But this is how my brain works. It wants to play and figure out the next thing. The 9x9 inch pan was enough for seconds on two meals for us. It was more dense and filling than I expected. I’m also eager to play around with different pans. We put syrup in it as suggested, but I’m already thinking about adding scallions and spinach. Maybe some prosciutto and cheese. Or a fresh fruit compote. The possibilities seem endless. Cooking fires up my brain in a way that nothing else does. It makes me happy and excited mind/body/spirit. Cooking connects me to Ease, my focus for the year. All the puzzle pieces in my life fit together best when I’m cooking and practicing on the mat. Yoga and food nourish me and creates Ease. They are my love language, my Seva (service) and my passion. It’s a good life. #dutchbaby #food #foodporn #germanpancake #Ease #yogichef #chef #yogi #yogalife #breakfast #brunch #mindfulfoid #slowfood #ayogikitchen #homemade #eggs (at Lawrence, Kansas) https://www.instagram.com/p/CokLbzpO5cW/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Inhale Live, Exhale Peace. Words I learned from my teacher. This came in the mail today. I teach my students to focus on the breath. I invite you to observe your brain as your thoughts start to wander. I remind you that when you get distracted to come back to the breath and when that’s not enough to keep you in this money to say these words to yourself. Inhale Love, Exhale Peace. When life is big and hard, when I can’t find the ease I have a daily reminder with my tea. Inhale Love, Exhale Peace. I forget that I have merchandise. I bought my own merchandise this week, cause this simple mug feels so special. It’s that snuggle into an comfy chair where I can see the birds and sip tea kind of special day. Link in the bio if you’d like to remember daily to Inhale Love, Exhale Peace. #inhale #inhalelove #exhale #exhalepeace #breathe #yogalife #ease #breathwork #beherenow #ayogikitchen #mug #merchandise (at Lawrence, Kansas) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoXgDjMr7jm/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Can you be a C+ Student?
Be a C+ Student! It’s not a concept I came up with, but it’s a good one. How preciously are you holding onto things in your life? How invested are you in outcomes? Cathy Heller suggests being a C+ student. What does that mean? It means do the good enough work when it’s appropriate and save the A+ work for when it’s really important. What would it look like if you let go? What does it look like…

Creating Community, Creating Ease. At A Yogi Kitchen and Pantry we strive to create community. It’s such a yummy core value. As a yoga family we collect and distribute food, clothes, and blankets. We volunteer together to cook meals for our community at @thesunriseproject the first and third Wednesday of the month. Join us next week to chop, cook, serve and break bread together. Their link in our bio. Last weekend we celebrated donors at Sunrise with a delicious house-made ramen bar. I’m still thinking about the yumminess. Self-care with Ivy. Every session I invite you to focus on a word. This session our word is Ease. You may have heard me say that a time or two lately. Ease is also my word for the year and I’m learning so much already. A few blog posts ago I wrote about how my mentor committed to Self-Care Fridays, a day she would take long walks, practice Restorative Yoga, nap, do things to restore and gather energy. These last few weeks of I’ve been playing around with a day of self-care. Saturday I really snuggled into it. Let me tell you, I’m a fan! Self-care is an direct route to Ease. What kind of care could bring you to Ease? What will help you stay strong for the rockstar that you are? I commutes to Self-Care Saturday last week, and this week will be Self-Care Thursday. I like alliteration, so I’m leaning towards Saturdays every week, but part of Ease is looking for the Middle Path or what Dialectical Behavior Therapy calls Wise Mind. So, I think what’s most prudent, is to just use whatever day works best each week. This week it happens to be Thursday, cause I’m going to soak and sauna, more about that soon. So, I’m still figuring out this Ease thing. It will be a year long process. Join me. What’s your word this year? Breathe into how self-care and ease fit with your word I blogged about it this week. Dinner at Sunrise Project was rockin’ tonight! We had a full house and people stayed beyond end of meal. We love that you love it as much as we do! Thank you to everyone who came by to break bread and create community. One of our favorite tables of the evening started with two people. Then a single person asked if they could join. Finally, two more people joined and the table was full. They laughed, had seconds, tasted candy, shared stories and made the cafe feel open and accepting to all. This is why I volunteer at @thesunriseproject. Whether I’m laughing in the kitchen as we chop, or meeting someone new at the front porch pantry or handing out dinner in the cafe, we are building a stronger Lawrence together. If you missed tonight’s dinner, you really did miss out. African Peanut Stew was delicious, warming and filling on a dreary, wet day. Don’t worry, tho. We’re here for you every 1st and 3rd Wednesday. Next meal is Veggie Chili on Feb 1. And if you missed it, you can join us Sundays 3-5:30 for Pop-Up Cafe. There are hot drinks, free wifi, homemade treats, books, games and warm smiles. Right after, join us for Free Community Yoga at 6p in the Kitchen. I invite you to slow down and be present. Every single person can do this class. Please come a bit early with any questions or concerns you may have. One way or another-in the cafe, in the kitchen or on the mat, I’ll see you soon! Oh! I almost forgot! We’re Popping-Up tomorrow, 7-7:30a for Gentle Wake Up Yoga on Zoom. It’s the perfect start to the day and you don’t even have to change your pajamas. Join us with your camera off if, if you choose.
