Mabel throws a party for the axolotl in the tank in the living room's "birthday" and catches The Axolotl's attention. Dipper sits by the tank axolotl and vents for a while and at some point says something that can be interpreted as an "invitation". Mabel makes a cool design for something that turns out to be a summoning circle. Ford is talking about magic/spells and says something like "you cant just spout nonsense! look, watch this, it won't do anything: uoy nommus I ltoloxa!"

OKAY SO I read this as all one suggestion, all happening simultaneously—Dipper's venting to the axolotl birthday boy while Mabel's putting up summoning circle party decorations and then Ford's expounding on magic during the party—and I'm just

watching the Pines tempt fate harder than anyone has ever tempted fate before

don't you think that's just a normal part of language to some extent ? obviously he was a weirdo about it, but at the same time i also think it's weird to "correct" his pronunciation of the word. in most languages, loanwords change and adapt to the phonology of the language they are introduced into. you probably don't pronounce yacht [jɑxt] even though that's the dutch pronunciation, by the same logic it makes sense to me that he wouldn't pronounce axolotl [aːʃoːloːtɬ] even though that's how it's pronounced in nahuatl.

I've had a bad day and have very little spoons so I apologize if this is short but I don't apologize if this sounds mean. If any wants too add to what I say feel free.

I do not think your example is appropriate or accurate unless you live in a vacuum and ignore setting, context, history, culture etc. A native person bringing up "the critically endangered exotic pet you have, the animals name is an indigenous word in my people language which you can easily approximate" is not the same as someone saying "oh yacht is actually Dutch word you should pronouns it like (this)"

i am a strong believer in descriptive grammar and that language standards especially with English are classist racist colonialist. I hate people who are snob about language and pronunciation. but respecting indigenous language is nowhere near being snob or racist. the fact that you seem to even slightly equate that says a lot of you.

beyond thinking they're at least a BIT overhyped, i don't think thierry has? ANY thoughts on axolotls at all! they sure are the sea's lizard, the sea's face bank if you will. ( not many thoughts on animals period in fact, he's MUCH more of a human person...........save for rabbits. maybe cats. )

that said, wouldn't have much to think or say regarding your plushie ( it's probably for the best if he says nothing ), but might begrudgingly give it a few pets just for the sake of the fact that you showed him it. calls it a soft, polite boy ( gender neutral ). says you have good taste depending on how big it is.

And thanks to @chrysalis-the-butterfly for their suggestions in the replies, I’ve put together an official name for her.

She’ll be now known as, Lady Beeana Pollen the bee, first of her name and future ruler of the crochet bee kingdom. Slushie can be her right hand and make sure she stays hydrated for the day.

(Anon I know you probably meant for this to be answered in character, but I do have to say that the Axolotl’s poem makes my brain buzz in the best way. 

Love it, love the implications, love the Axolotl himself, love the AU possibilities behind it...Love the fact that it implies Bill actually has a SHRED of genuine care for something that isn’t just drowned in a sea of lies and trickery (Although I’m sure he tries very hard to drown it anyway).
