I am unbelievably grateful to all the people I met this year through the Tarot Sequence discord server and twitter. I didn't have any idea that reading one single book can lead me to be friends with so many people I will cherish for many years to come. You guys are the best and thank you so much for putting up with me and being some of the awesomest humans I have ever met.

- As he looked at the screen to see how much was left, his heart began to pound wildly again. "I only got twenty-six percent left.", he voiced out loud.

"Next time we talk, we'll do it in person.", Derek answered, voice tight, but so sure. Then the line went dead, he had disconnected the call. It was eerily silent all of a sudden and Stiles needed to do something before he let the screen go black again.

'Hey dad! If this is the last message you get from me, just know that you're the most awesomest dad ever and I love you. I'm sorry I haven't been the best son in years', as he typed it out he stared at the text and deleted it again.

'Just wanted to let you know, that I love you, dad. Hope your Conference is as awesome as you.', Stiles hit send and then closed the app, turned his screen off and put his phone in his jeans pocket. As he covered his face with his hands, he tried to desperately remember what had happenend between visiting Melissa, going to the bookshop and ending up here. -

Summary: It’s almost comical how Cora crosses her arms and steels her gaze at the men across the room. There are enough fleeting glances and casual touches to fuel several classic tropes. Two hours into Lydia’s end of summer party, Laura feels a tap on her arm. It’s Cora, pointing across the yard. Following her gaze, Laura raises her hand, shielding her eyes from the blinding sun. Standing on the deck, by the snack table, are Derek and Stiles. She snorts at the younger man’s flailing, hands moving along to whatever story he’s telling. "How long until Derek kills him?"

Laura looks back at her sister and smiles as Cora watches Stiles and Derek interact. She knows that Derek values his peace and quiet. She also knows that peace and quiet is the complete opposite of everything that is Stiles Stilinski.

Like a sixth sense, she holds her arm out to stop Cora from interfering. It’s a good thing, too, because everyone is treated to the rare sight of Derek throwing his head back and laughing. Or maybe not so rare anymore. This isn't the first occasion she's seen it happen. The more time Stiles and Derek spend together, the happier and lighter Derek has become.

"He won't," she says easily. "They'll probably get together before that ever happens."

"Get together?" Cora snorts, and whispers, 'sorry' when everyone turns to look at her.

"Them? You really think--" Cora’s cut off as Stiles trails his fingers up Derek's arm. She squawks when Derek ducks his head, hiding a shy smile in his shoulder. "No flippin’ way. Is he smiling?" There’s shock in Cora’s voice because Derek doesn't smile. He has a patent on resting bitch face.

"Yep!" Laura wraps her arm around Cora, pulling her close. "You're very observant."

"Oh shut up, I'm thrown right now. Are we in a parallel dimension?" For effect, Cora spins in a circle, sniffing the air. Oh, the dog jokes that Stiles would come up with... "No, but seriously. Derek and Stiles?"

Laura smirks. "Most likely.” God, wouldn’t that be something to watch unfold? But she loves seeing her brother happy and wouldn’t mind moving it along. “How long do you think it'll take if we help?"

Cora wags her finger. "Uh uh. No helping. I say we let this play out." She grins widely, and Laura’s almost scared of the idea forming in her head. "But let's make it fun."

Laura raises a brow. "How so?"

"We bet on it. Come on, what do you think? How long until they hook up?" Cora looks over where Derek and Stiles are both standing, hands in their pockets as they continue to steal glances at each other. "I mean, we won't be cruel. I say six months. Derek's gotta work up to it cause Stiles isn't gonna say anything."

Laura scoffs, she hopes and prays that neither of them are that oblivious. "I say a month or less. Like I said, they've been hanging out a lot recently."

"Yeah, and if it's been like that, they're not gonna get far..." Cora puts her hands on her hips. "But okay, fine. Three months. But only because they're gonna be annoying and I don't think I’ll live through the UST."

Laura giggles. "You and me both. But I still say one month."

Snorting, Cora looks back at Stiles and her brother. Her mouth drops open, and Laura feels the sting of a slap against her shoulder. "Holy shit. Lookit! Lookit!"

Derek has Stiles pulled close, one arm looped behind Stiles's back, the other behind Stiles's head, fingers threaded through the chestnut hair. A prelude to a kiss.

"When the hell did that happen?!" Cora screeches and Laura finds herself being pulled towards them.

Stiles and Derek don’t break apart until Cora clears her throat and even Laura smirks at the sheepish looks on their faces. “Yeah, I gotta say… I might have seen this coming, but definitely not this soon.”

Derek clears his throat, pulling away slightly, but still keeping an arm around Stiles. “Soon?” “Aww, Bunny, I think they’re referring to you kissing me.” “I kiss you all the time…” This time Laura’s mouth drops open. “But you— And he— What?” It really shouldn’t be so shocking considering all she’s seen. “Dude, we’ve been dating for weeks.”

Cora sputters, and Laura grins, looking smug. “Totally called it.”

Cora sputters again and turns her attention to Laura. “Excuse me? Called what exactly? You said a month!” “Yeah and you said six!”

“And then I said three!”

Before their argument can turn heated, a throat is cleared, and Derek has his arms crossed over his chest, one brow raised to incredible heights. “Please tell me you weren’t making bets on how long it would take for us to get together.” Laura can’t tell if Derek’s angry or resigned, which is odd. Usually she’s pretty good at reading the eyebrows.

Both Laura and Cora open their mouths.

“Uh…”

“Well…”

“ Yeah… Not cool.” Stiles shakes his head while reaching for Derek’s hand. “You two are completely out of your minds. What if we had been circling around each other? Huh? Instead of coming up and talking to us, helping us realize our feelings, you’d have made this a game?”

Shit. Laura hadn’t thought of that. Well, she did, but only for a second. “We’re sorry.” It’s Cora that speaks up, much to her surprise. “That was me. Laura actually wanted to do that. Get you guys together. I’m the one who wanted to see how long it would take. I mean, eventually, we would have pressed the issue cause I mean, come on, we all know I wouldn’t have been able to deal with all the sexual tension.” Derek groans like he hates his life. Or at least his sisters. “Well, you guys suck so thanks…” They get a glare as Derek pulls Stiles away.

Cora barely stifles her giggle. “Well, I’d say that worked out for the best.”

“You’re only saying that because, clearly, I would have won.”

“How the hell do you figure that?”

Rolling her eyes, Laura states the obvious, “They were already together so it’s logical to say that if they hadn’t already started dating, they would have soon. Ergo, I win.”

Thanks to @zmlorenz and @dumb-lr-512 for the tags! I’ll be talking about my current WIP, Brightest Day.

Rules: answer 11 questions, ask 11 questions, tag 11 people!

1. Would you prefer your wip be adapted for the big screen, the small screen, or the stage? why? The big screen! A Day Out of Time would make a great TV series, but Bitter Dawn and its sequel, Brightest Day, would make better movies since they follow traditional story arcs. And the monsters/magic system can be very cinematic, so the stage wouldn’t do it justice. 2. Do any of your ocs have pets? if yes, tell me about them. if not, would they ever consider getting one? what kind of pet might they get? (i am definitely not fishing for pictures of cute animals. nope. no way.) Zora, Davina, and Raph share custody of a small black cat named Mouse. She is the sweetest, cuddliest cat in town. She asks for hugs and pets, and she sleeps on one of them every night. She’s too trusting and sweet for Eyphah, and the only reason she’s still alive (and hasn’t been eaten by a spirit) is because she belongs to the Grace’s household.

3. What colour(s) do you associate with each of your ocs? With Zora it’s warm colors, especially red. She’s brave (bordering on reckless), fierce, aggressive, active, and impatient. And although her powers technically burn white, the most common name for them is “the fire of the Grace.” I associate her with fire/lava imagery. With Davina, it’s cool jewel tones (sapphire, amethyst, emerald) because of her sensitivity and patience. Her temper is usually far cooler than Zora’s, unless you’ve absolutely fucked up beyond all belief. Raph is honestly the hardest to pin down because he’s the newest OC, but I think I associate him with gold and copper. He’s active and intense, and unapologetically Extra when the mood strikes him. But he also has a streak of kindness and nobility that he doesn’t show off very much, like a hidden vein of precious metal in the earth. Finally, I associate silver and black with Aurun because of his duality (kind when he can afford it, brutal when he can’t) and his ability to move unseen. If Zora is the purifying fire, Aurun is the knife in the dark. 4. Do you have a specific image of what each of your characters look like? or do you have a general idea only? With these characters, I have a very specific idea because I’ve been working with them for years, in most cases. You can find all of my faceclaims on the Bitter Dawn and Brightest Day WIP pages! 5. Do you have any conditions that must be met before you can write? (ie. a glass of water nearby, a certain playlist, must be wearing socks, etc.) I usually need coffee nearby, and I really need the right music. I change playlists/songs depending on what kind of scene I’m writing. Every big project has its own playlist, but I also have specialized ones (Danger music, fight scene, etc.). If I find a song that perfectly captures the mood, I’ll just keep it on repeat. 6. What is your favourite quirk you’ve given an oc? Zora is absolutely awful at subterfuge. She’s not great at lying, and she’s too...present to sneak anywhere with people. 7. Which of your ocs is most likely to steal breadrolls from restaurants? Aurun would do it if he needed them to supplement his diet, but Raph would do it just because he liked the bread and might want more later. 8. Do you have any character names that were supposed to be temporary but then you got attached to them? Nah, not that I can think of. 9. Have you ever made yourself cry when writing? Absolutely. I draw on my own emotions when I write in order to make the scene authentic. If a scene doesn’t affect me, how can I expect it to affect a reader. 10. What is your favourite trope to use? which tropes will you never use? which trope would you like to use some day? My favorite is either the Strong Silent Type (stoic/harsh character who only melts for children, animals, or their SO), or the Underestimated Character (someone who seems small, harmless, incompetent, etc. before opening a can of whoopass, physical or otherwise). I don’t want to say that I’ll never use a certain trope, unless it’s gross or problematic (White Savior, Abused Person Begins to Love Abuser, etc). I honestly can’t think of any trope that I’d like to use some day. 11. Show us some covers you want your future books covers to look like, pls. All I have is the mock cover for my WIP page:

Oh, that’s hard to answer. So far, my greatest accomplishment has been graduating university without imploding, but hopefully I’ll surpass that accomplishment soon!

Rather recent one: getting accepted into grad school :3

if you knew that in one year you would die suddenly, would you change anything about the way you are now living?

I’d probably quit my job, decline my grad school offer, and move back in with my parents/travel around the world saying goodbye to people and places.

I don’t, but here are three things I’m making up on the spot:

1. Learn Shanghainese,

2. Get published in the academic world,

3. Get published in the fiction world.

My sister:

Analytical, artistic, broad-interests, sometimes awkward and self-conscious, often opinionated and argumentative.

Overall, yes. There were definitely a lot of rough spots, and I regret the ways I acted back then, but I wouldn’t trade any of the bad experiences for the world because they’re part of what made me grow into who I am now.

Literally today on the train in front of a bunch of strangers lol.

No, I don’t wear any makeup. I never thought that I needed it, and now I’m not patient enough to learn + I break out when I do + it would take too long in the morning + I save money by not wearing it.

talk about a song/band/lyric that has affected your life in some way

CORNY BUT Switchfoot’s “Live It Well” from their album “Where the Light Shines Through” made me cry my third year of college. It helped me change my attitude toward a lot of things that were going on that year, which in turn helped me be more understanding and act more respectfully toward the people around me.

list the concerts you have been to and talk about how they make you feel

Erm, I haven’t been to a lot of concerts honestly. I went to a TobyMac concert once and a Switchfoot/Relient K concert. I tried to go to a Mitski concert with my roommate but we got the date wrong so we’re trying again in a couple months. I like them! I don’t think I could go to a concert alone, though.

who in the world would you most like to receive a letter from and what would you want it to say?

A specific medieval professor (Geraldine Heng). “You are smart and not dumb :)”

do you have a desk/workspace and how is it organised/not organised?

I have one of those corner desks from IKEA. It’s not super organized...there are books on the shelves/all along the top, and the rest of it is covered in papers and stationary and random stuff. Part of the problem is that I need more drawers/organizational furniture, but I don’t want to buy anything until after I move to a new place.

what is your night time routine?

Collapse onto bed, go through tumblr/emails, pet cat, force myself to get up and brush my teeth/shower, crawl back into bed.

what’s one thing you don’t want your parents to know?

All of my political views. They already know some of them and the result hasn’t been the awesomest.

if you had to dye your hair how would you dye/style it and why?

Hmm maybe some ombre of purple or red. I think it’s pretty. I can’t dye my hair easily because it’s so dark, but I don’t want to bleach it.

pick five people to go on an excursion with you. who would you pick and where would you go/what would you do?

My sister, my three childhood friends, and one of my college friends...lets call him Potato. We’re all pretty different, but the combination of the five of us would mean that there’s enough overlap in interests that no one would have to do any activities on their own. And I’d pick Japan because (1) one of the childhood friends is currently living there, and (2) it would be cool to take a couple weeks to explore the different aspects of historical and modern culture there.

1. That I were better at abstract analysis. So that I could analyze better,

I made this really janky Glunkus costume once and it worked out pretty well. It was a joke on the “sexy cat lady” costume...you see a girl in pleather and cat ears and then she turns around and her face is just a void with teeth.

I’ve never been drunk or high, but the number of dumb things I’ve done while sober is still pretty considerable.

Sure, why not.

My Starbucks order is literally just a tall chocolate milk or a tall Chai, depending on my mood. I’d trust anyone with that order...it’s pretty hard to mess up.

Uh, I can’t show you right now (because I’m on laptop, not phone), but I got the Marvel Visual Dictionary thing and I treat it more like a bible than a book. ^-^” I also have a Marvel Character book thing, with most of the comic Avengers. Which is why I know more than I should about the comic Avengers because I’ve never read one in my life (I’m so sorry my parents won’t let me and they’re hecking expensive where I am). I also have a golden Loki Pop!Vinyl Figurine thing, from the First Ten Years thing. OOHHH, and also a poster with all the Marvel movie posters from the First Ten Years, and an Iron Man First Ten Years poster.

But the awesomest thing in my room is this massive strawberry plush that’s the size of my torso. My friend got it for my 13th birthday, and it said 6 months+ on the tag and she nearly took it back (I’m really childish IRL). It’s so SOFT. AND CUTE!!!!! 1. What was your latest good dream about?

I literally never have good dreams. Ever. But I’ve been having nightmares for, like, the past two weeks and only yesterday I dreamt that my favorite cat tried to murder me after I didn’t let her murder a bird? (Yes, I have issues, I know).

2. What is the place where you feel content?

My home. My mum’s arms. My room. All of the above.

3. Name something and/or someone that/who makes you happy

Something: Books, flowers, dresses, chocolate.

Someone: My friends and family. Dean Winchester.

4. Name one thing that makes you proud of yourself

That’s a hard one, but I think I’m kind of proud of myself for not being afraid of being alone.

5. What’s the weirdest thing you did recently?

Read while walking. Don’t do it, folks, it’s dangerous.

6. Book or fanfic you fell in love with? Why?

Ugh, this is like the hardest question in the world because I love reading. So.

Books: I have so, so many books I love and hold close to my heart but I’m going to mention my top 5 or so. One Day by David Nicholls is my number one. It’s just such a beautiful, poetic, multi-layered yet realistic love story about love and Nicholls is a master of words (and @trexrambling says I kind of write like him and that’s the best compliment ever). Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern because I’m a sucker the whole best friends to lovers trope and this book is so brilliantly written (all in the form of e-mails, text messages, IMs, no dialogue, no narration and yet, it makes us travel to the deepest parts of the characters’ soul). The Great Gatsby, obviously, along with How To Kill A Mockingbird. Peter’s Long Walk by Greek author Alki Zei is also one of my favorites. I first read it when I was a child and it’s just stuck with me for so long. Me Before You by JoJo Moyes for all its brilliance and humor and emotion. I also recently read Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult and I really, really think that everyone else should, too. It’s so incredibly well-done, so polyphonic and it says so many things about racism and widens your horizons. I absolutely fell in love with it. A Man Called Ove by Frederick Backman because it made me laugh and cry and fall in love with the softest, grumpiest, sweetest and weirdest literary hero in the world. The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks because while he’s not the best writer, Allie’s and Noah’s love story is quite epic and every time I read it I’m reminded of my grandmother. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer because do you have any idea how incredibly well-planned and brilliant and detailed and emotive it is? Before I Go by Collen Oakley because it’s raw and deep and honest and beautiful and Rupi Kaur’s poetry books because she’s amazing. (I have more, but I’m guessing this is too much already, so I’ll just stop now)

Fanfics: I’ve read so many fanfics that have shaped me into the writer I am today and have etched their way into my heart. Just from the top of my head I’m going to mention Broken and Ephemeral by @atwistoffate as two of the best stories I have ever read, Through Your Eyes and Used To This by @trexrambling One More Day, Sacrifice and Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich (the one that got me into writing SPN fanfiction) by @percywinchester27, For The Best and As I Lay Dying by @deanwritings, anything by @supernaturalfreewill tbh, Hold The Line and Bright And Warm by @lipstickandwhiskey Unspoken by @wheresthekillswitch, Fragments by @torn-and-frayed, Now And Then I Get A Little Lost and Don’t You Forget About Me by @sunlightdances and Forward by @blacktithe7. I’m probably forgetting people as well, but I’ve had a very hard day so, please, forgive me.

7. Name an animal or plant you love

Hmmm. I love deers and squirrels. And sunflowers. They are such happy flowers.

8. What’s the strangest fact you know?

Almost 40.000 Americans are injured by toilets each year. I don’t know how. Don’t ask me.

9. If you could be a planet or a constellation, what would you be?

Pegasus because being a flying horse is frigging amazing.

10. What are your thoughts about aliens?

Honestly, I dunno. I think we can’t be the only ones in this enormous universe, do I believe they’re green and have long antennas? Probably not.

RE:169 quick thoughts before I go into rabbit hole of tg posts on tumbler (edited)

So I was expecting the scans to come out on Thursday but was surprised to see some fresh panels in the uta tag and FLIPPED.jpeg at my behavioural economics lecture. Honestly not the best place for getting a nosebleed xdd

Anyways here are some of hot takes I got from reading the chapter. More nuanced meta probably on its way. I read it on mangastream and I did screenshots there.

The chapter starts with the first part of Uta’s tattoo quote and ends with the second part, forming a sort of narrative framework to read it.

We jump straight into the fray, with contrasting shots of Yomo’s damn fine looking face and Uta’s there as well, clearly guided by very basic thinking and mostly intuitive, emotional impulses:

Like this is typical, stereotypical “unhinged” face people do in mangas. A mix of enthusiasm and bloodlust, it says this guy went “insane”. Ugh. Uta’s mental health warrants a LOT of unpacking nevertheless so let’s leave this face’ implications for later.

We glimpse their fight styles then:

Uta is on the offensive, honestly his is such forceful, visceral way of attacking here - straight up fuck up your opponent with the sheer force of your blow. He is shown to be a lot more nuanced and deliberate in previous fights, steering clear from attacking and content with evading the blows, dealing some psychological damage afterwards. But that is Uta just half-assedly toying - clearly he doesn’t stop himself with Yomo. The reasons can be manifold - that’s how they’ve always done it; he’s so pumped, he stops thinking and loses himself in pure bloodlust; he’s in a serious crisis - this is my preferred angle.

Now his fighting style, besides the raw strength behind it, is also quick and agile. In a second Uta gets behind Yomo, and tries to strike through his body mid-air. His face looks like this:

Very unstable.

Uta’s pupils are incredibly large here - again, a visual reminder how little conscious control he might have in this situation. OR how vicious his intents are.

My impression is that when he’s led by such murderous motivation (whatever its composing parts), Uta moves intuitively, we don’t see him playing around or allowing to be struck. Here he has the initiative but Yomo can so far fend off or otherwise deal with his attacks.

I’m honestly so thirsty for Yomo in this chapter, just look at this fine motherfucker:

{I’m interjecting to thank my lord satan for my pan-shipping, slutty heart because now UtaRen became another ship I love. Add in some Itori and you have another one. This one just keeps on giving <3}

Also Uta is so messy here, my baby all playful like a rabid hyena.

Despite all the refinements older Uta keeps about himself (suave clothing, neat hair, designer mask studio, antiques in glass cases, chess), he didn’t seem to have done much growing up, emotionally. Donato comments on it like that:

You just gotta love the fact that for most of the manga Uta keeps the facade of actually being the least reckless of the ghouls. But I trust Donato on this, who seems to know Uta’s darker impulses fairly well. Possibly better than Yomo and that dude got his fair of beating from Uta too.

What got me interested is how Amon had commented how pointless Clowns endeavours were. Initially I thought it’s Donato who said it, but later on he tells Amon that he would soon understand...

Oh Amon looks fine AF too. Be still my slutty heart!

Furuta says something possibly pivotal for the incoming plot arc:

(IDK wtf this is, but if even Furuta comments on it as if he was both grossed out/scared, it must be important. Oh, he meets Kaneki too, no biggie. “That’s just freaky!!”, I love you Nimura)

Back to my boys, Yomo is getting beat up but mostly evades Uta’s attacks and looks more and more pissed. Uta just looks like a dumbass. Or rather as stupid as cats who torture smaller critters for fun and recreation do:

Also we get a glimpse of his kagune. It seems to be very elastic, easily changing shapes as Uta sees fit. It was just this gigantic mass of RC cells in the beginning panels, now it’s much more resembling the spider legs en masse that we remember from his fight with Juuzou:

But what is most important here, we finally get the first shot of Itori. She is wearing a mask in the beginning, and it’s important in context of what Uta will be saying shortly: edit: It’s Itori speaking, thoughts on that in a different post.

She’s an observer in that panel, very significantly voiceless, not shown to be nearly as amused as Nico here:

Uta’s Itori’s words are honestly a key to Clown’s philosophy and deserve a meta of its own. [In the beginning I thought these were Itori’s words, especially after I saw “Kanekichi” being mentioned; it’s how she had referred to Kaneki before.] - no wonder, it was my brain’s way to remind me I was far too concentrated on Uta to consider the awesomest queen Itori :/

Uta Itori says something very interesting here:

Obviously, if he were to be an OEK, first or the second one, that would be right up the alley. But even if not, it hints at very interesting possibilities. I want to see Ishida expand on it in some flashbacks.

The most important words are coupled with shots of Itori slowly taking her mask off. It has a very dramatic effect.

Theres a heck ton to unpack here. Honestly I would never think Uta would look at his value system from that particular angle. Edit - and he wouldn’t because he is currently in the midst of a mayor meltdown. It’s Itori who actually bothers with explaining.

He She refers to the coldness of their existence as ghouls, of how senseless it is - like a vast, cold void stretching infintiely in front of them.

Uta’s ways of searching for warmth are probably the only ones somebody as uprooted as him could come up with - he sees drawing blood, wounding (but also getting wounded - Uta seems to have a very laissez faire attitude to him perishing eventually as we remember from his talk with Donato).

According to Uta Itori, Yomo is the warm one. For him her, it’s via bloodletting that he can get closer to taste it. Edit Uta def seconds that in the panels to come with his own actions

I still think there’s some theatrics involved in this speech, as the next panel shows....

God, way to make your opponent unsuspecting of your next move Uta.

And we get another important shot of Itori. She’s clearly positioned as somewhat stradling the line between Uta and Yomo but this series consistently shows her as being closer to Uta nevertheless.

Her eyes are shining so bright here, it’s clear she’s in deep thought and possibly a bit torn apart with what’s happening here. What Uta says clearly strikes a cord but her taking the mask off, idk it may signal some important differences between her and Uta’s worldview. That or it’s a sign she identifies with his words deeply. Edit ditto, these are her words and the scene took entirely different meaning and made me Love Itori, the first time since reading the series.

Honestly Uta is just beginning tho, as he has some creepy words about dreaming of the day where he would get his hands stained with Yomo’s blood. He actually left Yomo on the ground to have this mini speech properly. He’s posturing as far as my impressions go - Uta reverts to his younger persona, sans earlier sentiments of not wanting to cut his fun short by killing the only one ghoul who could match him somewhat.

The most important thing in this chapter is what Yomo says next...

Here Uta is, going off about his strange blood kink and Yomo goes all shonen manga on him. But it’s not the same shonen posturing he did in previous chapter. We don’t see his eyes - we see Uta’s and that dude is honestly #shook.

Naturally he reacts in ways only Ishida can think of. Honestly how Yomo’s words are literally drowned out by Uta’s uncontrollable and histerical laughter is such a masterful move:

This is the guy who dug up Ren from the ground because he was his “friend”. Now he’s just a mouth apparently.

Idk but this seems like the key panel for analyzing Uta from psychological angle. This dude most pronounced feature is his mouth which is nothing like human’s or ghoul alike. It’s like he’s truly the chaotic trickster god with none of the sentiments he was hinted to possess.

I was talking with @gaiajulz and I love how she pointed out that it seems like Uta is actually drowning out Yomo’s heartfelt words and he isn’t even fully aware he’s doing it. With Uta’s firm worldview, he’d rather go full crisis-mode instead of acknowledging how vulnerable and in need of closeness he is.

Honestly Uta is soo Washuu-like in this panel, like Furuta’s older brother or something. First screech like a Cthulu monster and then do a little happy dance!

What’s important is how Uta links what he sees as Yomo’s nivete with his emotional honesty and lack of any hidden agendas. Yomo is pure and good and this is why he is naive enough to trust a world like this. Uta saw so many sides to it, he literally sees no other option than to play the fool, including fooling around with one of the precious few of potentially close people in his life.

I also think he kind of looks like crying? From laughing so hard maybe.

The chapter ends with my baby going full kakuja (predictably it’s his shifty face that’s the most inhuman part here, just a mass of flesh) and this flirty words:

Renji seems so shocked, it’s possible he had never seen this form. Either way he’s speechless.

And Uta’s philosophy is hinted at again - he’s willing to trample his friend just to feel anything.

What we are dearly in need of is some good meta on Uta’s mental health, how his values feature into it and how his own actions contribute to it unraveling. Obviously such speculations are about as scientific as psych profiling but I feel it would be very important to try and understand this character better.

And boy, is there a lot to unpack here...

Edit - crossed the parts where it’s suggested it’s Uta who summarizes Clown’s philosophy. It’s Itori and I don’t get my brain could hint at the discrepancies in my own thinking but not make the definite link. Gotta love that sweet ADHD folks.

I scrolled aimlessly through twitter, getting notifications of people tweeting me random shit.

Who’s @ColbyBrock? Can people stop tagging him on my shit and me on his? It’s kinda annoying and confusing…

I saw a tweet from a girl. I clicked on her profile and saw a bunch of retweets then the tweet towards me. From her photos she was obviously a model. She was so gorgeous.

I decided to message her since it seemed she was already following me. She was probably trying to figure out who I was.

Hi! I’m Colby and I’m terribly sorry about my fans tagging me in all your stuff. They are crazy.

I set my phone down and ran down the stairs, grabbing a bottle of water and heading back upstairs. I opened my door and right away there was a ding noise and I jumped on the bed, picking up the phone and opening the message from her.

@yourtwitter: It isn’t your fault! I’m surprised you never noticed them doing it. They do it on all of my posts and tag me in yours. Its so weird I don’t understand it.

I smiled at the message and began to reply.

@Colbybrock: They’re insane. They probably “ship” us.

@yourtwitter: I don’t see why 😂

@colbybrock: well you are quite beautiful and they think I am so?

@yourtwitter: I am not hot at all but your fans are definitely right about you being hot. ;) so Colby, where do you live?

@colbybrock: I live in LA.. You?

@yourtwitter: New York :(

Damn. I thought to myself and set the phone down. She seemed cool I wanted to meet her but I guess thats out of the question.

@colbybrock: bummer. You seem like you would be an awesome friend.

@yourtwitter: I am the awesomest of friends but hey we can be internet friends if you’d like.

@colbybrock: sounds amazing :)

-8 months later-

Me and Y/N have been talking for 8 months now. We’ve grown extremely close.

I sighed and picked up my phone from my bed and dialed her number that I now have recognized. It rung a few times and then her beautiful voice began in my ears.

Y: Hello Colbs

C: hey. So I was thinking…

Y: ohhhhh Colby Brock? Thinking?

C: haha shut up. Anyways. How would you feel if I bought you a ticket and you moved to LA?

Y: and I’d live where? My modeling is here..

C: Yeah but you can model here… And your job as a Youtuber could totally buy you an apartment here.

Y: why are you suddenly thinking this?

C: its not sudden for me

Y: I’ll think about it.. But I gotta go, call you later.

She hung up and I smiled to myself. I knew she couldn’t resist especially since she has a free ticket here. A few hours later she called back and I heard the best news.

“When will my flight be?” She asked right once I answered the phone. “Whenever you’re ready.” I smiled. “Okay. Next Friday good? And I’ll be staying with you until I get an apartment.”

“I’ll book your flight now.” I silently cheered to myself. Fuck yes!
