So I had some thoughts about @awesomeavocadolove and their ATLA fic series Consider Chaos, where Zuko becomes the avatar for the Chaos Spirit Vaatu. 35. What’s your favorite fic you’ve posted? Hmmmm i don't know if i have a favorite fic per say, but it depends on how much i worked on it and how excited i am about it. obviously What a privilege is a big one for me, but Riddles in the Dark is one that i am so excited to see finished (once i finally sit down and work on it) but it just has so much editing and work that needs to go into it that i've been stalling

Are there any fics that you would change or rewrite if given the chance? honestly, i think all of them. there are lots of things i would change in every one of my fics, but i've accepted that this is up to me and my own standards, and it shows my own progress in writing. i did rewrite Burns, though, because i still liked the concept of the fic but high school me didn't execute it very well

68. Are there any fics that influenced you to write the way you do? all of them! i'm serious, whenever i read a fic, or any writing at all, i am constantly thinking about what i liked about it and how i can use it in my own writing. writing changes the way you think!

Tell me your COVID experience. Spare no expense.

I talk about my first/initial symptoms here, so I’m not going to go over those again.

It has been 25 days since I started feeling symptoms, 20 days since I was tested, 18 days since I was diagnosed positive.

I’ve had most of the symptoms but I didn’t have them all at once. Some came, went away, and now came back again (RIP). Here is my complete list of symptoms over the past weeks:

diarrhea

aches/chills

exhaustion

inability to fall/stay asleep

shortness of breath

there was a two day period where i couldn’t even get enough air in my lungs to speak more than two sentences

dizziness/lightheadedness

very high heart rate

at one point, I was lying in bed and had a heart rate of 120

acid reflux/heartburn

feeling like i’m vibrating out of my skin

“hot head” where, even though i didn’t have a fever, my face was radiating heat

sore throat (though that is probably my allergies)

FALSE upswings

I thought I was getting over it and the past seven days I’ve been improving, but today the shortness of breath hit me like a brick again

I HAVE NEVER, NOT ONCE, HAD A FEVER SINCE HAVING COVID

I have left my bedroom exactly 5 times in the past 18 days. These were breaks to take showers. I do it rarely because, boy howdy, standing fucking takes it out of me. Not to mention I have to scrub down the shower. Luckily, I have a half-bath attached to my room.

My mom brings me food at leaves it on my bedside table, then when I’m done, she comes back to collect the plates.

I’m a tactile person and not being able to be hugged/held has been really difficult psychologically. I’ve bawled my eyes out several times simply because I wanted to have human contact and can’t have it.

People haven’t been talking about the psychological aspect of it! I feel mentally and physically lonely because no one in my life knows what I’m going through. I have anxiety over people thinking I’m irresponsible; even if they never say it, I’m sure some of my friends/family are thinking it. I have major depressive disorder and the isolation is making my symptoms soar.

I message my friends, especially online friends, constantly. I’m irrationally hurt when I don’t get responses. I’m not doing anything, ever, and I want people to be there for me 24/7. It’s selfish. I know it is, and I can’t stop. 

So that’s basically it, as of now. My 10 days since worsening symptoms got reset, so I have at least 10 more days until I can leave my room. There’s also hurricane-level winds right now and the power is flickering, so that’ll be fun.

No idea! I run the social media accounts for my library, but I’m not in charge of the book groups. Frankly, if I were in charge of the book groups, I wouldn’t have chosen that book.

Why?

Because I have Opinions about James Patterson. If you ask a bunch of librarians/authors, well, you’ll hear a lot about why most of us are not fans. The main reason being his current...

Well, let’s call it a ghostwriting book mill.

Of the 339 books in his Wikipedia bibliography (which may or may not be a complete list, and which I may be miscounting since I didn’t count omnibuses. or duplicates, plus I’m not perfect and may have missed some), 271 have a “with” credit (again, I eliminated the omnibuses and duplicates). Out of those 339, 69 are short stories and 21 are comics/graphic novels (mostly adaptations of his other books).

He published 3 books in the 1970s (starting with 1976), 3 in the 1980s, 10 in the 1990s (including 3 co-writes, so 7 solo), and 50 in the 2000s (including 30 co-writes, so 20 solo). There are currently 17 books which came out or are scheduled to come out in 2020, 12 of which definitely have a co-writer...and others almost certainly do, the other person just isn’t listed yet. That leaves 256 books which were published with James Patterson’s name between 2010 and 2019, 221 of which had a co-writer -- so only 25, or 1/10, are solo. (Those numbers come from subtraction, I lost the will to search for “201″ when I looked at the preliminary find number.)

Nobody writes 25 books a year. Sure, it’s possible to write a book in two weeks. I’ve seen people do it in Nano. But that’s not even counting other things like plotting, editing, and proofing, which must be done with every single book. That’s not even mentioning things like book tours, family dinners, sleep, travel, vacations. A book every two weeks is not a sustainable pace to keep up for ten years. It’s just not. I don’t care how fast an author you are, it’s not possible. Those 25 solo books over that ten year period? I can believe that. That’s 2-3 books a year, which is absolutely viable if you’re a full-time author, which he is. The other 221...

He’s not writing most of those books. The general consensus is he’s coming up with the idea, maybe writing a scene or two, and then dumping the vast majority of the work on newbie writers who do almost all the writing, plus probably most of the plotting, editing, etc. He may be reading all those books, but he’s not writing them. And are people buying those authors’ other works that they publish without the giant “James Patterson” above their names? No idea!

And yet, enough library patrons are such avid readers of Patterson that we’ve been expected to buy all 25 books per year that “he” is putting out in multiple formats (print, ebook, audio) -- which leaves a lot less budget for books by other authors.

Hilariously, I suspect The President is Missing is that one rare co-written book where he did do most of the writing, because Bill Clinton is not an author.

But at this point? I am not a fan, and I honestly refuse to read his books on principle.

Hey sorry to bother you but I can’t get these two people in the fandom to answer me. I have no idea what I did wrong I can’t learn from my mistakes if no one tells me. Do you have any idea why awesomeavocadolove and muffinlance won’t answer my ask. They keep ignoring me what did I do? All I asked was why they hate aang so much and that they should tag their aang hate. Yet if I were to send the a ask about zuko it’s fine. What did I do to get ignored? I guess asking people about aang is bad now.

I do not know  ‘awesomeavocadolove‘ so I can’t answer you for that.

But I do know muffinlance (not personaly, I just know of them) and while I can’t speak for them, I think they don’t answer you simply because they receive an ungodly ammount of ask everyday and have their IRL stuff and writing to do as well, so you’re never answered simply because of bad luck.

They have way too many ask to anwer them all so your asks just don’t get picked.

Also asking why someone hate a character sound more like an attack than a genuine question so you should phrase it better, instead of asking ‘why do you hate Aang ?’, ask ‘why did you portray Aang this or that way or doing X ?’, You also shouldn’t assume they hate Aang unless they said so themself.

That’s the best advice I can give, I hope that help ^^

I have tried to add a note to the Boy And His Dragon AU twice and it's not working so I'll message you here. I LOVE the way your mind works. I was working on a revised outline for the second half when it came in and we think along the same lines. Do you mind if I use portions of yours? Credited, of course.

Our ideas are too powerful for such simple things as notes.

But in all seriousness--go ahead! I’ve been researching the Four Heavenly Animals and color/direction symbolism in Japanese culture for a while now (albatross_spoilers.jpeg), and I think you could do something really cool with those concepts. As a rundown: there are four old/original colors: blue, white, red, and black. These are the only pure/genuine colors, and each corresponds to a direction, and thus to an element, virtue, season, and animal. (And you’re going to find disagreements between the Chinese and Japanese elements, and for other details, too, but the animals, colors, and directions are all in agreement.)

The West is protected by the White Tiger, the North is protected by the Black Tortoise, the South is protected by the Vermilion Bird, the East is protected by the Azure Dragon, and the center is protected by the Yellow Dragon. Each of these “Auspicious Beasts” guards a direction, and is also associated with certain positions of the moon (mansions in Chinese astrology), elements, virtues, colors, and seasons, as mentioned above.

That’s the basic rundown. I think you could do something really, really cool with these four colors and the Sun Warriors--particularly with the color white, since West is also the direction of endings. Just!! I love how your mind works, and I can’t wait to see where you take this.

I can't find a bralette in my size, but I highly second lightweight sportsbras. Super comfy and I have no issues with bouncing around as an F cup. got a bunch for $10 each off of amazon and I adore them

I’ve tried them but it’s super hard to find one that is like big enough for covering the boob. Other than that and not enough support, they look pretty cute.

not enough support in my opinion. However, the next step which is like a lightweight yoga/sports bra and those give me enough support!

Thank you all. I do have sports bras, but I tend to get pretty heavy duty ones since I run in them, and outside of sports/heavy work, I don’t really like to wear them because they squish me down so much. I didn’t even know they made such a thing as a yoga bra. That sounds like it might be a good compromise of cute/comfy. (I’m semi-focused on the cute because it seems like half the time you can see my straps, especially in summer.)

Aww, you're too sweet! "Can You Please Just Hold Me?" came right from the heart, so I'm glad it touched you too.

@sokka-beifong and @twinkle-toph are both super talented. (“i meant it when i said i wanted to start a family with you.” and “He’s always like this” were both so sweet.) I know they're both primarily Tokka shippers/writers, but multishippers be multishipping and you and I are both stupendously grateful for it.

And speaking of heart-fluttering, Eyes of Mist (from the Toko arranged marriage list) was completed last month, so I sat down and read the whole thing from the beginning yesterday. It is so, so soft. By the time I finished, I was in a complete puddle of goo. (Reminded me a lot of A Tale of Earth and Fire and @awesomeavocadolove's The Problem With Zuko, but fluffier.)
