They Can't See This

"They can't see this," Whumpee muttered. The reflection in the mirror was unrecognizable. Bloodshot eyes, dried tears, a haunted look that even scares Whumpee. Their hands were shaking, pools of bandages spilling out to the floor.

No!

Need to patch things up. Need to finish this fast. They will see. Despite their trembling frame, Whumpee managed to find the thin strips of linen. Cutting, wrapping, hiding everything red and bruising. They can't see this.

Whumpee grimaced. Bandages weren't enough. Gotta stick to long-sleeved shirts for a while. Have to be distant. Stay away for a while. They're a fucking bad actor. One pained hiss and everyone will know. Can't. Shouldn't. Shouldn't let them know.

After so long in captivity, Whumpee finally gets news of their friends. A gift from Whumper for being so loyal through all these months. It's not much, just pictures taken by Whumper to show them how their friends and families have been.

Whumpee doesn't expect the crushing despair of realizing their loved ones have moved on without them.

Okay but big whumpees. Tall whumpees with imposing stature. Or gigantic whumpees, even.

Everyone thinks they're strong and can handle themself when the truth is they're a soft ball of anxiety. People don't notice they're hurting until they reached a tipping point.

Whumper blaming them for their own traumas, saying it's their fault for not fighting back when they already have an imposing figure like that.

Whumpee is convinced they took too much space and their needs are too much, so they made a point to make themself small and hide.

Or, Whumper is forcing them to be small, so Whumpee is stuck curling in on themself for hours.

Whumpee is very sick, they're alone in their apartment, too weak to go to the hospital, and their pounding head is too sensitive to light looking at their phone to call for help is already torture.

They started hallucinating. Having vivid dreams of Whumper and Caretaker. Seeing them standing beside the bed. Whumpee would curl up under their blankets, hiding from Whumper banging at the door, and the strange trails following their field of vision. It goes on for hours until Whumpee fell asleep. Sometimes Whumpee would wake up and see Caretaker. They'll talk like nothing's happened, or Whumpee would have dreams of Caretaker giving them help only to wake up painfully alone.

The dreams alternate, hurt and comfort, until it starts to blur together and everything becomes nightmarish. Whumper tenderly feeling their forehead, Caretaker screaming how useless Whumpee is.

Finally, Caretaker finally comes to their house, finding a very confused and paranoid Whumpee.

I'm not the first to talk about this but I think Steve was going to die but they got scared so they made it Eddie instead. I feel it was out of character for Steve to even leave Dustin with Eddie in the first place. I knew Dustin trusted Eddie and Steve probably didn't want him in the big action, but that's still his child. Eddie was also a big brother type to Dustin just like Steve is. And the fact that Eddie's death isn't even acknowledged?? Where was the scene of them going back to Eddie's trailer only to find Dustin still laying there, holding him? We didn't even see them tell Mike or Lucas. Why was Dustin and Mr. Munson the only ones to acknowledge what happened?
