Do you miss sailing? Even with the Navy?

Yeah. I loved sailing. From charting courses to manning the helm. It felt like I was in some form of control of all the things I couldn't be. Like I wasn't just a pawn dressed in a fancy uniform. I could close my eyes and pretend to be a sailor, not a pirate or a soldier, just a sailor on the open seas... It was nice. Can't do much now.

Hi Ava, what is your favorite part about sub men and what would be the thing you would want to do most to one?

My favourite thing about sub men is their vulnerability and how they get shy at the slightest of compliments amd praises.

It just makes me want to dom them so bad.

The thing i would want the most to do to one is my favourite kink : edging and overstimulation

Hmm so it turns out many people consider Ava a bad protagonist and find her annoying??? And that the show is slow??? And that it endorses disability erasure???

I hardly ever fall in love with main leads especially 'the chosen one' types and yet Ava was so easy to get behind and even relatable and I love her so much. And god I wish the show was even slower and it had more episodes like I wanted to see the dynamics between the sisters in depth, Ava and Bea's relationship progressing, little lost moments, their quiet times, their training sessions, them joking around and being normal idk. It still went by too fast?

And I might be wrong here but to me it wasn't disability erasure. Ava's disability is very much a part of her throughout. It's why she spends half the season running away because she hasn't lived yet. It's why she can't give up the halo either. It's why she can't drain the halo too much or can't fight as good as other warrior nuns (minus not being trained yet of course). It's her deepest fear. And it is so fundamental to her and Bea's relationship too like Bea touching her after that fight with Crimson, Bea reassuring her, Bea understanding her fears and hesitance....her disability is a very much constant presence throughout the narrative even though under the surface and ahhhhh I want to scream so bad rn.

I'm straight up not having a good day today and then finding out about these shitty opinions about this beloved sunshine of a character—

Are people allowed to have opinions I don't agree with? Yes.

Do I want to hit them on the head with a stick despite? Also Yes.

Now I'm wondering am I biased because I've read way too many fics and post analysis' and therefore see more depth than there was? Does it even matter?

-her favorite movie is cleopatra (1963). she tells roderick it’s because of elizabeth taylor but it isn’t. the whole ancient egypt obsession came from that new year’s eve conversation with Verna.

-definitely a lesbian but keeps it an open secret so she can still exploit men for her personal gain

-created an algorithm to do her christmas shopping for her and refuses to share with roderick, however, she’s put his name on presents she bought.

-leaves every party early and without saying goodbye. she has a 100 percent success rate.

-likes mystery movies but can always guess the ending. she comes up with better ways the villains could’ve gotten away with their crimes.

First of all, we have luminous beings from @daisychainsandbowties!! Star Wars AU. soooo fucked up in the best way. the chapters leave you half in a daze (and I mean this as a good thing) and the way this author weaves in the bits and pieces of the characters' pasts is absolutely incredible.

Next we have and there it is, a mark of the divine by understreetlights. THIS fic is like taking a warm bath at the end of the day. It's like wrapping yourself in a blanket and sitting by the fireplace. It's like the nicest hug you've ever experienced. It's soft and it's incredible and everyone should read it.

Then there's the gods we can touch by @thecousinsdangereux!! Canon Compliant during the Switzerland Months(TM) turned lowkey fix-it. The entire series that this fic is included in is incredible, but I have a soft spot for this one since it was the first I read. Very soft. Very pining. Very phenomenal.

the life left behind by @littledata. exes to awkward friends to real friends to loves. fantastic vibes, some really good communication, and genuinely just a feel-good fic. Very much recommend. I read the whole thing in one night and had no regrets.

i want to meet you in every place i ever loved by phwaa. this is how you lose the time war AU!!!! HELLO???? if you know anything about that book, you know how insane this fic will be. If you don't know that book, first of all you should read it, and also this fic works as a standalone too. Not-really enemies to lovers. Phenomenal.

And of course, last but not at all least, who needs comfortable love by @the-ominous-owl. Sentient Halo AU. Exactly what it sounds like! Starts from the end of s1 and goes from there with a heavy emphasis on the Switzerland Months. The Halo is alive, and it's got a crush on Beatrice. This fic is fantastic, and everyone should read it.
