Something New! Culture Collective from USA for UNHCR

Today, USA for UNHCR launched their Culture Collective, which is a new initiative that showcases films, books, music, and other forms of art and culture by and about refugees. There is always so much more to learn about their experiences so that we can better understand the world of refugees, and in turn, do what we can to help.

After reading/watching/listening to these art forms, you’ll find the tools and resources to take action and help grow support for refugees in the U.S.

For example, USA for UNHCR is featuring The Kite Runner (have you read the book or seen the movie?), which follows Amir, a young boy from Kabul whose life is turned upside down when violence overtakes Afghanistan. Amir’s journey as a refugee offers an inside look at the plight Afghan refugees have faced for decades. After reading the book or watching the movie, you can learn more about the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan by tapping here and reading all about it on USA for UNHCR’s website. Then, you can do things like send a welcome message to Afghan refugees, share the content on social media, sign an advocacy petition, or even cook an Afghan recipe featured on their website, like Aushak.
