Hi, I’ve been looking for an ao3 author. I believe she goes/ went by the name AuntGinger and had other characters to make up their name but I can’t seem to find their work anywhere. They has a lot of fics circa 2020 and had a WIP please help me find if you can thanks

Hi, sadly AuntGinger27 has recently deleted all her fics. Their fic was the first fic I ever bookmarked on ao3... I tried contacting her right after she deleted but got no answer from the old account. Very sad that everything got deleted. Another reminder to orphan your fics instead of deleting.

And the WIP, Gentrification, was finished in July of the last year. The admins might or might not have the completed version, in case you missed the July-February window to read it ;)

Any fics you feel got overlooked and think more people should read?

This is a hard question to answer because all the stuff I've liked and gravitate toward other people definitely weren't sleeping on and they know about them but I can give a short list of the stuff I've always really liked from Gallavich and I'll throw in some other fandom stuff that I've always wanted to evoke in my writing.

In no particular order:

- Better the Devil you Know - AuntGinger27, a really deliciously dark and hedonistic Gallavich AU where Mickey is convinced Ian is the Devil. Great if you're into daddy/sugar baby vibes.

- Belladonna - Devovitsuasartes, amazing Witcher universe Gallavich fic where Ian is a Witcher and Mickey is a witch 🥰

- Teenagers Scare the Living Shit out of Me - Mellow_Yellow, amazing canon divergent horror au. Chef's kiss.

- Mickey Milkovich is Hot - kubrickpotter, everybody sees a sex tape made by the boys and realize how hot Mickey is and they don't know how to deal with it.

I mean a bunch of others but I'm having trouble finding them.

If you want to know what weight related stuff on AO3 is really good I recommend:

- Sheer Indulgence - or anything by Eratospen

- Diners Rockers and Fae - Arthistory, tons of good stuff

- The Old College Try - and anything else by Caloriebomb

- Going Up - Wreckingthefinite, omg literally my mother on here, she got me into eventually writing kink fic

This week we talked to Amy aka @auntginger27, author of fics like The One That Saves Me, Better The Devil You Know, and Gentrification, among several others.

 GT: Can you tell me a bit about yourself?

A: I work in healthcare, which is like most of my life here lately. Writing and reading is my sweet escape. I love a good story that just sucks me in, especially love stories and thrillers. I love all animals. I have a ferret and a neighborhood cat who just adopted me :)

GT: I can imagine the pressure you're under, I'm glad you have that escape. Being adopted by a cat is a life goal lol. What are the names of your pets?

And speaking of names, why auntginger27?

 A: I just call the cat Grey Cat, at one time there were like four of them who hung around my house. I found a cat rescue and they have their forever homes now :) My little ferret's name is Chewie. As far as auntginger27, I just found the Aunt Ginger storyline so shameless. I liked the character and the name. The 27 is just a random number, no significance.

 GT: Do you have a favorite season and/or episode of Shameless?

A: Season 3 will always be superior for me. All of the story lines were good. It had everything that season. So many iconic and chaotic moments. Episode 3x05 is one that I rewatch often. First kiss aww.

 GT: What attracts you to Ian and Mickey and their relationship?

A: I think what drew me into Mickey and Ian's relationship is their love. I love their love! Watching it develop and blossom into what they have this season has been amazing. They faced so many hardships and nothing could/ever will break that bond they have.

 GT: That is true, their soulmates. Do you have a favorite Gallavich scene?

A: That's definitely hard to pick just one. They have so many great scenes, especially this season! I think the prison endgame scene and the dock kiss is pretty far at the top for me.

 GT: The dock scene gets me every time. 

What are other characters that you like in the show? Do you include them in your stories?

A: I like Fiona, Veronica, and Sandy. Mandy will always hold a special place in my heart. I've included all of them in some of my stories, but most of the time just as kinda background characters.

 GT: Have you ever written any Shameless fics without Gallavich in them? If not, would you?

A: I have not yet. But I do have this one story I keep thinking about with Veronica and Fiona. I was rewatching from the beginning and I noticed things about them that I didn't before. It's probably just wishful thinking lol, but I can totally see some mutual pining between the two.

 GT: No, I can see it. Friends to lovers AU, why not?

Tell me how you got into the fandom. When did you start watching Shameless and how did you find other fans of the show and of Ian and Mickey in particular?

A: I started watching Shameless around season 3. My sister was watching it at her house and I was immediately hooked. I fell down the rabbit hole of Ian and Mickey videos on YouTube which kinda lead me to ao3. I read fics for a while before I decided to make a page on there and started writing my own. Fics are mainly what made me find other fans. Commenting on author's stories, people commenting on mine, and finding each other on here.

 GT: Is this the first fandom you read fics for?

A: Yes

 GT: And what made you want to write your own?

A: I liked the characters and I wanted to write my own interpretation of them.

 GT: What was the first fic you wrote for them? Where did you get the inspiration for it?

A: My first fic, I do not speak about it lol. It was soooo bad. I hope it never surfaces 😂

 GT: Hahah, ok then! What's the fic you're the proudest of?

A: The fic I am proudest of is one I deleted. The Space Called In Between. I haven't decided if that story was meant for Mickey and Ian.

 GT: What kind of comments do you most like getting?

A: I love the ones that let me know what they liked. It helps me determine if I am going in the right direction with my stories.

 GT: Tell me about your writing process. What inspires you to write?

A: My writing process is pretty chaotic at times lol. I'm kinda all over the place. It consists of notes, lines, and different scenes that I usually save in a memo on my phone. Random ideas always pop into my head at the oddest times, so I have to get it down before I forget. As far as inspiration, I take from the show of course and just add my own style to it and write them how I want in whatever "universe" I've placed them in.

GT: What kind of fics do you write the most? 

A: I write pretty much all except for canon. I don't believe any fics are actually canon because it didn't actually happen on the show, and no two creators interpret canon exactly the same way. If that makes sense. I love Au's. I love putting them in a different universe and seeing how it plays out.

 GT: What about reading, what kind of fics do you read the most?

A: I'm all about the AUs. When I read fic I usually look for different first meetings, friends to lovers, something with good angst and romantic tension.

 GT: Speaking of different things, if you could change one thing about the show, but only one thing, what would it be?

A: 3x06 scene hands down

GT: What would you do? Just eliminate it? What effect do you think it would have in their relationship?

A: I would definitely eliminate it. I mean, I do get the message Shameless was putting out with that scene. It made me as a viewer really understand what Mickey's home life and upbringing was like. It definitely showed what REAL homophobia looks like. (I say that because that term gets tossed around kinda flippantly and "jokingly" these days.) I never really thought about how it would have changed Mickey and Ian's relationship if that scene never happened. I think they still probably would have had some of the same relationship struggles. Mickey coming out. Working through Ian's bipolar disorder. Their breakup. Most relationships have growing pains. There just wouldn't have been that particular trauma that would linger in the form of a kid and a wife that Mickey never wanted.

 GT: What did you think of the ending of the show?

A: I actually was satisfied with it. Of course, if I could have had it my way, there would have been more closure to everyone's storylines. My soul is at peace after living through post season 5 because OMG it was a mess after that. All I ever wanted was for Mickey and Ian to be happy, safe, and together. They have all of that. I can't really ask for much more.

 GT: How do you imagine the future for them?

A: I see Ian being proud of his tomatoes. I see them shopping together at Whole Foods. I can see Mickey actually becoming really successful in the cannabis industry, and of course, having Ian right there by his side. I see them being the couple that outlasts them all.

 GT: What's the most fun thing about writing Gallavich? What's the most difficult thing?

A: The most fun thing for me is the comedy. The most difficult thing for me is dialogue. I've never been confident at writing it.

 GT: What are your favorite fics and authors in the fandom?

A: I have so many fics I love, but I'll name a couple. SHITW, Domestic Bliss Series, The Halfway House series, You're Not In The Old Country Anymore, Total Frat Move, Two Of Your Earth Minutes, Sunshine, Eighty-four, Maia's fic a day may collection and a lot of their other fics. I think some of the ones I named have been deleted, but I really love all of these writers and admire them. So many other great writers in this fandom. We are so lucky.

 GT: We are indeed, there are some fantastic people, and you did name some great fics.

So, what's next for you? What do you have on the works?

A: Right now I'm finishing up Gentrification. I have quite a few long one shots that I have been working on. One of them is a modern day Grinch AU. I'm pretty excited about that one. I'm also working on a multichapter fic inspired by the movie Fear.

 GT: I don't know this movie. What's the plot about?

A: It's an older movie. It came out in 1996. It had Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon in it. It's one of those obsessive love type stories. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I kinda dig it. I don't think we have any of those in the fandom, at least not that I know of. Mine won't be exactly like the movie, just loosely inspired by.

 GT: I see. It's definitely unique.
