Our 2022 garden: evening harvest
Our 2022 garden: evening harvest
At the time this scheduled post is published, I should be on the road, headed to court. Because I have to leave so early, I won’t be able to do my usual stuff in the garden until later, but I wanted to have something positive to start the day with! So here is an evening harvest to share in the morning. 😊 I was checking on the ground cherries while doing my evening rounds when I noticed one that…

The Grim Reaper's Guide to Breaking Every Rule of the Universe /// Prologue
Tumblr media
I'm not super happy with this prologue but I've done my best with it :'). Also I gave God He/They pronouns. Enjoy!
Summary: When touring America for the sake of it, you go to stay with your aunt in New Orleans for a while, taking up a peaceful part-time job restoring objects. But a few weeks in, a package arrives containing an old radio that's seen better days, along with a note seemingly written by someone who thinks they could fist-fight the Devil.
What you didn't know, was the hell of a path that was now set out in front of you. Not fist-fighting the Devil, but instead a very smug radio host who would have no problem spending the rest of his days driving you up the walls.
But two could play that game.

The Universe – The Beginning
Perhaps it was a coincidence, or a mistake, or there was something far greater beyond the confines of the ever-expanding walls of the universe. They had accepted solitary, thinking they were the only one, the first, when they awoke to a dark abyss, with the veins of creation pulsating at his fingertips. This was what God thought when they reached out for the first time, light bursting from within, shooting out and collecting into a colossal sphere. A star, he had named it, and he had much fun for who knows how long, floating through the endless vacuum, using these fiery balls of fire and gas to light his way. He would make them every colour he could think of, clumping some together to form the nebulas, or shooting some off into the middle of nowhere, just for the sake of it. Sometimes, he would press atoms so close together they would form rocks of all shapes and sizes, letting them wander and float around until they began clumping together into similar spherical shapes. He even swirled some clusters of stars and rocks around, watching as they turned into disks that would spin forever – galaxies, he decided to label them as. Before long, the universe was scattered with clusters of stars, planets, and whatever else they felt like creating, some so big their size was incomprehensible, others microscopic in comparison, and the rest varying in between.
When God had decided to rest their powers for a short while, he hadn’t expected to awake to the feeling that something was off when he observed his work. A small ripple, something he wouldn’t have picked up on if he knew they were the only being currently in existence. It passed through them, and he quickly shot towards the nebula that sat in the centre of his universal domain, their birthplace, so to speak. And what he came across was something very wrong. And he finally came to the realisation that he wasn’t alone.
It looked like a cloud at first. A dark mass that swirled and flared it tendrils around frantically as it contorted in and out of itself. He wouldn’t have been able to see it if it weren’t for the carnage it had left behind, it’s pitch black silhouette a stark contrast against the flickering specks of light behind it – the broken remains of his precious stars and planets.
Though he did not fear it. They knew that if this being had come into existence, it was here for a reason.
The Goddess was a being not many creatures knew about, and God wanted to keep it that way. He didn’t want anyone to know he had an equal, someone, if aware of everything they could do, could rival him and his authority.
He was Creation, and she was Destruction. Not solely there to destroy everything, no. She was brought into existence to ensure there was change, to make sure God didn’t slow down, always keeping him on his metaphorical feet. He had welcomed change when they had first come across her, but not too much. See, he wanted things to progress, but on his terms, so when the flailing tendrils of the Goddess had parted to reveal a mass of black wings and hundreds of very curious eyes peering up at them, he immediately took them under his own wings, teaching them the timeline of the universe around them. Her naivety hadn’t flown past him, she had just come into existence after all, and at this realisation he was delighted.
Billions of years passed by under the tutelage of God, telling the Goddess that she was his creation, what was divine and what was sacrilege. She absorbed it all, enchanted by the ways of what she believed to be her ‘creator’.
At one point, Destruction was overseeing a supernova just outside the Andromeda galaxy when God had approached her, eager to show her something. Reluctant but curious, she agreed, allowing them take her to another celestial plane, gesturing his arms out wide and welcoming her to Heaven.
He introduced her to his creations, his hierarchy of the divine. From the Seraphims, all the way down to the angels. For a time the Goddess resided with them, telling them about her ways of existence, though it wasn’t always received positively. In fact, there was only one creation that was intrigued by her path of dismantlement, a chirpy seraphim named Lucifer, who would spend most of his free time following her around with wide eager eyes, asking questions a mile a minute. The Goddess would always answer truthfully, and soon enough God began to grow weary of the friendly exchange between the two.
It wasn’t long before he was dragging her back through the planes, until they came across a very colourful planet. Entering through the atmosphere, the two floated down until they arrived on top of wall that encased a very interesting sight.
For as far as the eye could see, there was desert, but within the confines of this wall was a lush paradise, filled to the brim with every possible plant. The Garden of Eden.
God revealed two creatures that he had brought into existence, their names Adam, and Lilith, and they were to create the human race. Though his idea didn’t last very long – Lucifer had trailed after the Goddess into Eden one day, going off on another one of his excitable tangents on whatever was flying through his head at the time, when he had come face to face with the cunning and evaluating eyes of Lilith.
Obviously most know what happened after that, and God had quickly created Eve, but when she and Adam both failed his expectations after Lucifer and Lilith tempted them with the apple from the tree, he soon made changes.
The Seraphim and his new wife were cast down into a new celestial plane called Hell, and God then turned to the Goddess, seething, accusing her – that she had planted those thoughts and questions into his creation’s mind. They wouldn’t hear any excuse, leaving her until near the end of Adam and Eve’s once immortal life on Earth.
When he approached her again, they said he had a new job for her, and she followed, hopeful for their friendship to be restored, though doubts began to creep into her mind when she saw what was before her.
Purgatory, he had revealed it to be, was where she would take mortal souls after their physical body expired and sort them between Heaven and Hell. Next was the Underworld, where, if a soul was displaced in either of the two afterlives, it would go there to remain for eternity, or if she decided to send it back to Earth to be reincarnated. It was her new domain, where she would reside when she wasn’t on Earth collecting new souls.
Distressed, the Goddess asked why she was to do this, but God said nothing, only explaining further on what her new purpose entailed, and she grew more and more distraught at the new path he had laid out in front of her. She was no longer to be regarded as Destruction, but instead would spend the rest of eternity to be called a new, more fitting name, one he thought described her purpose of being perfectly:
Death.

Hiiii! Can I request some general headcanons with yandere platonic Guardians of the Galaxy x human reader?
Platonic Yandere Gotg
Tumblr media
Imagine the guardians coming across a human reader on some far off planet.
•Peter literally makes the uwu face because he himself is basically a human teenager plus he sees someone to impart all his knowledge and pent up human jokes and mannerisms that the guardians don’t really get. He takes you under his wing and teaches you all the things you need to know like how to pilot a ship and also all the things you shouldn’t know like how to steal. If you ever called him dad or said you thought of him as your dad he’d cry. His birth father was never there and then turned out to be awful and Yondu wasn’t the nicest when he was younger so just knowing that you think he’s good enough to be your dad makes him full on sob.
•Gamora is the responsible one. She scolds Peter when he teaches you bad things or freaks you out with his attention. Gamora is calm and collected. She can always tell when your overwhelmed or need her just by your body language. She’s very attuned to you at all times and will always have a snack or a drink for you as soon as you even think of needing one. She’d babyproof the ship for sure. Making sure all the weapons are hidden from you and anything dangerous is out of your reach. She thinks youre delicate even if you’re not. Gamora is awkward with her affection because of her past but she really does try her best. She’ll do your hair and always gives hugs back when you hug her.
•Nebula is your mean aunt. She acts like she hates you and you’re a nuisance but let anyone make you feel bad and you’ll see how much she actually loves you. Nebula acts like she doesn’t care about you but she’s always the first to wish you a happy birthday or sit with you when you’ve had a bad day. You can drag her anywhere and make her do anything you want. She’ll complain the entire time but if you catch her when she thinks you’re not looking, she always has a smile.
•Drax treats you like a mix between a kid and a pet. He forgets that your delicate sometimes and will try to wrestle with you or throw you around but should he hurt you he acts like a kicked guard dog. Won’t leave your side and yells at anyone (besides the other guardians) who gets to close. He picks you up all the time and will just walk around with you tucked under his arm. He tries really hard because he missed having a kid in his life.
•Rocket is the bad influence. Peter might teach you how to steal but rocket is teaching you how to blow up a planet. He’s on a whole other level and if you’re not already feral then you will be by the time rockets done with you. He always eggs on and volunteers to help with any idea you have wether good or bad. Need a test subject for a new invention? Rockets your guy. Want someone to come graffiti with you? Rocket already has the spray paint. You can tell him anything without getting a lecture or an uncomfortable look which you can’t do with the rest of the guardians.
•Groot is…groot. He’s like a silent shadow in the corner of your life. Always there, always ready to pull you out of bad situations or to give you a listening ear when you need to rant. Like with rocket he’ll happily carry you around and be a participant in your schemes. He’ll give his all to protect and take care of you.

Adam warlock x fem!reader
Summary: You were a guardian of the galaxy but when your team broke up you decided to stay in Knowhere attending to other types of tasks. Now Adam, Kraglin, Groot, Cosmo, Phyla, and Rocket are part of the new team. And while you help with Nebula and Drax to take care of the children, Adam has an eye on you.
Warnings: none
Word count: 3k
⋘ 𝑙𝑜𝑎𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑑𝑎𝑡𝑎… ⋙
Since you left the guardians things had changed a lot. Although, well, it couldn't be said that you really "left" the guardians because you were still working in Knowhere, only now you were doing less dangerous missions. Now you were in charge of taking care of the rescued children and some animals as well. Your specialty was teaching them basic things like reading, writing, etc. Thanks to that, you were now nicknamed "Knohere's teacher" and you could only laugh sweetly when you heard it.
But you weren't the only one who helped with the care of the children, occasionally Drax and Nebula also gave you a hand, but you soon discovered that the children adored you more than the other two, maybe it was because you had more patience or instinct Motherly, you weren't sure. You still remember that time a girl approached you happily saying something that makes you smile to this day.
(flashback)
You left your room always well ordered and full of several different species of plants that you watered daily. Even though you no longer went on missions with the team, you still wore your special suit because it was comfortable and beautiful. You walked out the door tying your hair into a messy bun ready to greet the kids and teach them something new today. You were reunited with Drax and Nebula when a girl with close-cropped platinum hair and purple eyes approached smiling with a notebook in hand.
"Well?, are you ready to learn about animals today, Ulani?"-Drax said
The girl in response began to jump happily while nodding her head fervently.
"Good, Come with me and Drax so we can teach you.."-Nebula said as she took Ulani's delicate hand to gently drag her towards a room, but the girl stood stoically in her place as if she was bolted to the ground and looked at them with a frown.
"I don't wanna"
Nebula was puzzled looking at Drax as if asking for an explanation. He crouched down to be at the height of the little girl.
"What's wrong? Don't you want to come with Uncle Drax and Aunt Nebula?"
Little Ulani shook her head with a pout without breaking eye contact and then to your surprise she pointed a chubby finger at you.
"I want her to teach me"
Now Ulani was looking at you with those beautiful little purple eyes shining with enthusiasm while a big smile returned to her face. Nebula crossed her arms in confusion as Drax patiently asked why she wanted to study with you.
"Because she has a nice smile and she always draws pictures for me"
you couldn't help but cover your mouth to hide your laughter as you grabbed the girl by the hand and took her with you to study.
(end of flashback)
This is how all the children of Knowhere, especially Ulani, would visit you in your room so that you could teach them numbers, colors and other things that seemed to be fun and useful to them. Meanwhile, the new guardians kept traveling through space fighting aliens and all that stuff you used to do. Of course, the newest member that got everyone's attention was Adam, especially your attention. Several times when they returned from missions and went to work on Knowhere, you had noticed how Adam would look at you while you played teacher. Even sometimes when he stared at you and you noticed it and turned to see him, he quickly turned his head and looked in another direction pretending that nothing had happened.
You were heading towards some tables and chairs that were outside the Knowhere dining room with your bag with everything you needed: pencils, papers, etc. There were already four excited children waiting for you and clearly among them was Ulani. You had grown fond of the girl and she with you. She was the most energetic of all the kids you taught and was always the first to ask when she didn't understand something.
"Hello miss (y/n), we are ready!"
you smiled at such a cordial welcome and sat down in the chair next to them ready to teach them how to write. You took out a couple of papers and several pencils for them while you dictated a few simple words. They obeyed you, paying attention and copying the words in big, messy letters. While you was reading what they had written and correcting them, a somewhat deafening noise accompanied by a fresh blizzard that made the papers fly was present. Out of the corner of your eye you saw how the guardians' ship landed near you and Captain Rocket and the others came down from it. They got out and people came up to them surrounding them and cheering like they were rock stars. They was always received like this and it seemed that the mission was successful. Rocket thanked and retired to his room drinking from a glass with a straw, the others stayed greeting the people of Knowhere. You smiled admiring them from afar. Suddenly you couldn't help but see Adam, he was greeting an old woman listening to her praise while he gently held her hands, you tilted your head a little and an "aww" escaped your lips without even thinking.
Ulani noticed your sigh and raised her head from the paper to look at you. You had lost sight and smiled like a fool. The intrigued little girl followed your gaze and noticed that you were looking at the sovereign.
"They're amazing, don't you think?"
You shook your head in confusion with raised eyebrows looking at her.
"What do you say, little one?"
Ulani pointed to where the guardians were. "They, are the best warriors in the galaxy, especially that tall golden boy"
Your smile became small while Ulani smiled, it seemed that the girl knew how to hit the nail on the head or she just couldn't imagine that you had some kind of crush on Adam. You blushed, muttering a vague statement, you felt ashamed for having been caught red-handed. But just like that, you looked at Adam again only to find his gaze fixed on yours, now he was looking at you with a tender smile. You felt your ears redden and you smiled nervously greeting him with one hand, he returned the gesture.
When the class ended and the dictations were corrected and scored, you announced that the next class you were going to read them a story so they would learn to read. They squealed with excitement while you laughed in amusement. So much fuss caused the sovereign looked at you smiling delighted. You collected your things while you said goodbye to the children with a kiss on their foreheads. Adam put what he was doing aside and turned to you. You put your backpack on your shoulder and you were going to go to your room when you saw him approach you with a happy step, you felt butterflies in your stomach.
"Greetings (y/n), how are you today?"
Adam hugged you leaving you speechless, he always used to hug people including you but every time he did it you felt a roller coaster in your stomach, of course he didn't know
"Hello Adam, I'm very well thank you. In fact I just finished a class with the children"
"Yeah, I saw you guys. It looked like fun"
Thousands of thoughts passed through Adam's head and they were all about you. The sovereign couldn't stop thinking of you every time he went on a mission and when everything became dangerous and they were at risk of being seriously injured, he thought of you, and your sweet face filling his mind comforted him and gave him strength to continue. Go ahead and tell himself that he would finish the mission so he could see you again. And now seeing you educate the children his heart melted, your patience and the love you gave to those kids made him feel things in his stomach, he remembered that someone had told him what that was called… butterflies? Yes, that was it, he felt butterflies and he couldn't help it.
"The effort he puts into the education of these children is beautiful"
The words came out of Adam's mouth like a torrent, he didn't want to say them but they escaped. You looked at him surprised, not really knowing how to react. When he realized it, he looked down with regret and blushed, placing his hands behind his back and kicking an imaginary stone with his foot like a child would. At this behavior you giggled
"Thank you so much Adam, it's nice that you say that"
Now you looked down and they both blushed like two college teenagers. Why did you behave in such a foolish way when you were around him? Couldn't you act like a normal person? And why did he have to look at you with puppy dog eyes all the time? He was about to say something when a scream interrupted him.
"Adam come here! the roof of a house fell again!"
It was Kraglin, Adam looked at me as if apologizing while you just nodded smiling. He floated away and you went back to your room with your pulse racing.
🍀💮🍀💮
The next day you woke up and remembered that you would read something to the children today, so you grabbed a children's book from a shelf, "Little Red Riding Hood". You were sure that the children would find that story curious. You smiled and left your room smiling with the book under your arm and your backpack hanging from your shoulder. You saw out of the corner of your eye that Adam was helping Rocket with some boxes. He looked at you and greeted you, you greeted him back and kept walking. Adam felt in the clouds every time he saw your eyes, that's why with a lost look he didn't realize that he had a box in front of his feet and when he wanted to take a step forward he tripped and fell with his red cape throwing on his face ahead and covering his head. You stopped, startled by the noise when you saw Adam lying on the floor and covered your mouth laughing in embarrassment. Rocket who was next to Adam did it too, but less subtle.
"HAHAAH, what's wrong Adam, did you want to kiss the ground?-Rocket exclaimed throwing his head back while slapping his knee.
Adam stood up quickly as he pushed the cloak away from his face with a flushed face as he watched you walk away shaking your head and smiling, surely now you thought he was a fool. You went to the usual place and you met your faithful student and two other children.
"Hi miss (y/n)! They are Ciro and Eber, they are my friends. I told them to come to hear the story!"
The two boys seemed more shy than their eloquent friend but they smiled at me with kindness and devotion. You greeted them gently and began to tell the story. You stood next to them so they could admire the drawings on the pages and continue reading with you.
"Once upon a time there was a sweet girl who loved her mother and grandmother very much. He helped them in everything he could and since he was so good on his birthday his grandmother gave him a red hood. Because she liked it so much and went with her everywhere, soon everyone started calling her Little Red Riding Hood."
you would read and point to the images, they would pay attention to you with eyes wide open. You never considered yourself a good storyteller, to tell you the truth, you didn't like your voice, but these kids seemed to like it. As you were turning the pages, you were pointing to the words so that they could repeat them slowly. You emphasized each letter and separated them into syllables to make it easier. Also, if they didn't understand something or didn't know what was mentioned in the book, you patiently explained it to them. Adam from afar looked at you curious and enthusiastic again, when he had finished his work (and after some reproaches from Rocket) the sovereign came a little closer to where you were to better listen to what you were saying.
"...The wolf sent Little Red Riding Hood the longest way and arrived before her at granny's house. So she pretended to be the little girl and knocked on the door. Although what he did not know is that a hunter had seen him arrive. "Who is it?", answered the grandmother "It's me, Little Red Riding Hood," said the wolf. "How good my daughter. come on, come on" The wolf entered, pounced on the granny and ate her in one bite. She put on her nightgown and got into bed to wait for Little Red Riding Hood to arrive."
A gasp came out of the mouths of the little ones who looked at the book with surprise, you smiled delighted by their attention. Adam seemed surprised and amused as well.
"..When Little Red Riding Hood entered, she found Granny different, although she didn't quite know why. "Grandma, what big eyes you have!". "Yes, they are to see you better, my daughter". "Grandma, what big ears you have!". "Of course, they are to hear you better". "But granny, what bigger teeth you have!". "They are for eat you better!!" As soon as he said this, the wolf pounced on Little Red Riding Hood and ate her too. His stomach was so full that the wolf fell asleep"
With each part of the body that Little Red Riding Hood named, you pointed to the eyes, ears and mouths of the little ones who laughed with amusement. But when the part came where the wolf ate Little Red Riding Hood, you growled as if you were the animal from the story and you began to tickle them and the children kicked their feet laughing happily. Adam also chuckled softly with a tender look. Ulani, Ciro and Eber were impressed by the story and above all by the way you told it, you gesticulated a lot and you knew how to interpret each emotion as if you were a theater actress. Suddenly the youngest of the children became serious and with a trembling voice said
"I don't think I like this story, the wolf is very mean"
You looked at him like a loving mother and caressed his cheek
"But don't be sad, the story isn't over yet"
This is how you reached the end of the story when the hunter found the wolf and filled its belly with stones, throwing it into the river, thus saving Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother. The children clapped happily and cheered, while you laughed lovingly. And again you promised them another story for the next morning, since it seemed that they adored it. You went back to pick up your things and Adam came over to help you.
"What a sweet voice you have to tell stories…"
You were surprised by his presence so close and his words charged with love that you awkwardly dropped the book you had in your hand. You and Adam reached under the table to pick it up when your hand accidentally touched his. They stared at each other for a few seconds until you looked away feeling your cheeks burn. You got up from under the table but not before Adam covered the edge of the table with his big hand so you wouldn't hit your head, he smiled innocently at you and said "careful". You thanked him, still blushing, and brushed an unruly lock away from your face, placing it nervously behind your ear.
"It seems that the children love that you read them stories…and I do too"
This last he said in a low voice, hesitating whether to confess it or not. You were getting redder, was he…flirting with you? It just can't be.
"I really don't think I have that good a storytelling voice.."-you whispered lowering your head
Adam stared at you stunned with a frown in confusion, did you really think that of yourself? The sovereign was about to reply "Oh if you could see yourself as I see you…" but he bit his tongue and didn't say it.
Since he didn't know what to say, you were about to leave when in an attempt to keep you longer he grabbed your wrist. your breathing quickened a bit
"Is it true that tomorrow you will read them a story again?" You nodded "Then I think I'll be there too, I want to hear you"
You smile perplexed, you were supposed to teach children to read, not adults, but you thought it was a tender gesture.
🍀💮🍀💮
As you promised, now you were heading back with another book in your hand, "The Little Prince". But this time you were a little nervous because you knew that among the children would be Adam, who was not a child. When you arrived at Knowhere Square there were at least 15 children waiting for you. You swallowed scared, you had never read for so many people. You thought that there would only be three or four children like the previous days but this time it was a whole contingent and not only that, now instead of reading in a small and private room or at a table outside the cafeteria you would have to do it in the middle of the square where people passed. Your palms sweated.
Nebula walked over to your side and looked at the children who were already sitting on the floor in a circle.
"I think you have a great audience today"
But you were pale and serious and you were squeezing the book as if it were going to fly away, Nebula noticed it and placed a hand on your shoulder rubbing it.
"Don't worry, I know you'll do well. I've seen how you read to them, you really do well and they love you. I'll be around if you need anything"
You nodded gratefully and when he left you sat on the floor next to them, you opened the book and were about to read but the words got stuck in your throat, unconsciously you searched for Adam with your eyes and there he was at the bottom of the room. He rounded sitting like a Buddha with his elbows on his knees and his hands on his chin, looking at you and encouraging you to continue. His presence gave you the courage you needed, you began the story with more relief and encouragement.
"isn't she fantastic?"-Adam whispered with a lovesick face to a boy who was sitting next to him.

We Forgot Peter part 221 - Read it on Ao3
Peter Parker isn’t proud of it.
A giant purple alien (Thanos, if Peter caught his name correctly. He’s not entirely sure he had it right but now isn’t exactly the moment to ask) had him around the neck, attempting to choke the life out of him. His throat burned with the tight grip, his lungs aching with the need to breath. It was out of pure instinct that Peter opened his mouth to try and suck in a desperate breath, but he couldn’t get any air in.
He blamed the lack of oxygen for the way he sunk his teeth into the skin of Thanos without a thought.
The hand around his neck slackened with the shock and Peter fell to the ground. He only just managed to stay on his feet, gulping in lungful after lungful of air. As his chest heaved and his hands shook, it took him a moment to realise that the fight had been paused, everyone staring at him.
It took several more gulps of air for him to realise what he had done.
He had bit Thanos.
Aunt May’s voice filtered through his mind; a forgotten memory dragged to the surface.
Peter, honey, no. We don’t bite people. Biting his bad. Apologise to your Uncle Ben.
“I’m sorry,” Peter blurted out into the silence of Titan. “Mr. Mad Titan – uh – Thanos, sir. Is that right? Thanos? I’m so, sorry. Biting is bad. I shouldn’t have – I’m so sorry. It was an accident!”
Peter’s heart raced in his chest as everyone just stared at him. Heat pooled in his cheeks and the racing of his heart had nothing to do with the adrenalin of the battle but the utter embarrassment of his actions.  Peter fidgeted, the silence closing in on him –
Drax let out a bark-like laugh. “He bit him. Just like a fierce warrior. Bravo.”
Drax’s words seemed to have un-spelled them all. Thanos made a motion to move but Tony Stark was faster. He blocked the mad titans strike, giving them all an opportunity to strike and the battle continued.
The embarrassment disappeared just as quickly as it had come as Peter fought. Fear and adrenalin crashed through his body like a tsunami, and it was Peter could do to not drown in it. Thanos was like no other opponent Peter had ever come across and it scared him right down to his very bones.
Then Strange was wrapping the titan in red, glowing, whips and Quill was trapping his other hand in some magnetic, crackling like lightning trap and Peter was wrapping his web around the alien, pinning him down –
Then Thanos stopped struggling.
It was as if his limbs had locked tight, his body freezing and turning to stone like he had stared into the face of Medusa. Peter wondered if maybe Medusa was there. At this point, nothing would have surprised him.
“What’s going on?” Peter asked, cautiously loosening is grip on his webs. Thanos didn’t struggle against them, frozen where he stood wrapped in their traps.
Tony landed close by, hands raised and ready to fire. After a moment of examination, Tony’s voice came through his mask. “He’s frozen.”
Nebula approached, knifes up. Peter could only gape as she strode right up into the titan’s space without fear, the tip of her knife poking into to his cheek. She pressed the tip harder until blood dripped down the blade. The only thing that moved was Thanos’s eyes.
“He’s paralysed,” Nebula said, her expression never changing.
“How?” Tony demanded.
“Who cares,” Quill snorted. “Let’s just get the glove off him.”
“Underoos,” Tony called.
Releasing his webs, Peter hurried to Tony’s side. He went where Tony directed him. He curled his hands around the rim of the glove and started to yank with all his might. He kept sneaking glances at Thanos, wondering why he was paralyzed. It’s not like any of their weapons had –
“Holy crap,” Peter gasped out, the glove popping off the Titan’s hand, sending Peter and Tony sprawling to the ground.
“Kid, you good?” Tony demanded, scrambling to get to his feet.
“I bit him,” Peter said, staring up at Tony where he held the glove tight to his chest.
“Yeah, and then apologised, which we need to talk about that later,” Tony said, his voice calm but his eyes frantic as they roamed over Peter’s face. His eyes were pinched tight, and Peter could feel the worry pouring out of him.
“Have you got it?” Nebula asked.
“Got it,” Tony called over to them.
Peter watched as Nebula stared at Thanos, her eyes narrowing.
“If only Gamora was here to watch this,” Nebula said. “How she would have loved to watch me cut your head off.”
Peter watched as Nebula raised her knifes up high –
Then Tony stepped in front of him, blocking her from his sight. That didn’t stop him from hearing the wet sound of a blade sliding through skin and the heavy thud of something falling to the ground, followed by an even heavier thump of something slumping to the ground.
Peter let Tony help him to his feet. He automatically pressed his face into Tony’s armored chest, shuddering as Tony arms came around his shoulders to hold him close.
“I bit him,” Peter said into Tony’s chest.
“Kid?” Tony’s gloved hand brushed his sweaty hair back from his forehead, tilting his chin up at the same time so they were looking at one another.
“Mr. Stark, I forgot I had venom.”
Tony blinked at Peter for a beat before his lips started to twitch.
“Don’t you dare,” Peter growled, hugging the glove closer to his chest.
“Oh kid,” Tony begun to chuckle.
“You can’t tell anyone,” Peter rasped out, hands shaking around the glove. “Promise me. You can’t tell the other Avenger’s.”
“Oh Pete, that’s not a promise I can keep,” Tony chuckled.
Peter moaned, burying his head into Tony’s chest again. His whole body trembled as the adrenaline begun to wear off. He didn’t know whether to laugh or cry or curl up into a tight ball and scream.
“I’ve got you,” Tony said, holding him closer and running a now non-gloved hand through his curls. “I’m so proud of you kid. So proud. It’s over. It’s all over now. I’ve got you.”
Peter let himself sink into Tony’s grip, letting the words wash over him and sooth his trembling. When he was sure he had control over himself again, he pulled back. He looked up at Tony who was waiting patiently, ignoring the gathered group behind him.
“You good?” Tony asked.
Peter nodded, not trusting his voice to not come out in a squeak.
“Time to end this field trip,” Tony said with a small smile. “And tell everyone that you stopped the mighty Thanos by biting him.”
“Just don’t tell May,” Peter blurted out. “I don’t want another lecture on why biting is bad.”
Tony let out a gleeful grin as he led Peter towards Doctor Strange who had been waiting patiently for Peter. It didn’t escape his notice that Tony was blocking his view of Thanos and for that he was grateful. When they reached Doctor Strange, Peter all but shoved the gauntlet into his hands, eager to be rid of it. Holding it had sent his sense haywire, the urge to yet it across the planet strong.
“Well done,” Doctor Strange said, over Peter a smile.
“So, in all your little jaunts into the future, did you see this one coming?” Tony asked, raising an eyebrow at Strange.
Strange’s eyes twinkled with mirth and Peter bit back a groan.
“Why spoil the surprise,” is all Strange said.
“Can you get us back to Earth?” Tony asked and Peter knees almost buckled at the thought of going home.
Maybe he had fallen asleep on the bus, and this was all a horrible dream? Maybe at any moment Ned was going to shake him awake and he would find himself back on the bus with marking on his face from where Flash had drawn on him.
“I can,” Strange said. “If we are all ready.”
Tony’s hand clamped down tightly on Peter’s shoulder, squeezing his hard. Okay so maybe he wasn’t going to wake up on the bus but at least Tony was there. Everything was going to be okay as long as Tony was there and Peter pressed him back to Tony’s chest, drawing comfort and the knowledge that they were both alive and that they were both going home.

i was gonna post the whole gang when i finished em but i just realized how insufferably long that would take sooooo here's my Starsaicin / CapDust kid! my beloved candy nebula cookie
candy nebula cookie, real name: aurora borealis cookie, is a very tired lad, not that he wants to sleep, he's just worn out and needs a lie down. he got the ability to traverse through dreams from his aunt moonlight cookie. he doesn't do it often, since he doesn't like unexpectedly wandering in on someone's nightmare.
he gets overstimulated very easily and when he does it results in him refusing to talk or getting very emotional. he's very prone to crying outbursts when he's nervous or scared. he's a self-proclaimed coward. though his family does not ridicule him for it, and rather try to support him instead.
though, through it all, he's still a very patient and kind child. he tries to be as polite as possible and always tries to help when he can, even if he's too weak to really do anything. he tries to smile as much as he can, because apparently others 'like it when he smiles'.
he's described by others as being very timid, shy and quiet, but once he warms up to you, he's very excitable and whimsical. some even pity the poor thing with the amount of stress he goes through on a daily basis.
[everyone say thank you to my cool as hell mutual @bellatheinkdemon for inspiring me to do finally make my stardust/capsaicin kid, i plan to draw hers, white star cookie, soon]
relationships and other info under the cut
Capsaicin Cookie - father - trust "My dad is the kindest soul on Earthbread! He'd never hurt anybody!"
Stardust Cookie - father - trust "I love my papa very much. I wish I was as courageous and calm as he."
Moonlight Cookie - aunt - admiration / trust "Please, teach me how to be exactly like you!"
Sea Fairy Cookie - aunt - trust "I understand what it's like to yearn for something..."
Kouign-Amann Cookie - godmother - admiration "What a brave cookie...! I want to be like her one day."
Prune Juice Cookie - godfather - admiration "I want to be as resourceful and helpful as him."
Milky Way Cookie - cousin - trust "I need to see you more often!"
Eclair Cookie - tension "Stop trying to study me! I'm a regular Cookie just like you!"
Latte Cookie - indifference "Do I have to see you every single day?"
Sugar Glass Cookie - friendly "Weren't you lonely? I wonder what happened to you..."

All the art I’ve done so far for @nerves-nebula ‘s neglected turtles + feral aunt ripley (she acts p much identical to all Aunt Ripleys, she just doesn’t have her glasses)
Ripley would love these turtles SO much and would INSTANTLY adopt them even though she is the MOST EASILY BULLIED adult in the world she is still going out and KILLING AND MAIMING anyone who hurts her kids
Ripley can have a bunch of kids to adore and care for, as a treat
She can also have a little unspeakable violence, as a treat

Ancestral
Danny had been having a rare peaceful, lazy Sunday afternoon when the call came in, relaxing on the couch with the astrophotography book Jazz had gotten him for Christmas.  It was early January, and the ghosts hadn’t come back yet, and the teachers hadn’t assigned too much stuff right after the break, so he was caught up.
It was unusual.  It was nice.
He should have been waiting for the other shoe to drop.
The phone rang.  He ignored it.  Anyone calling him would call his cell phone, and his parents were right there, in the kitchen.
He listened with half an ear as someone - his mother, by the sound of it, although it might have been Jazz - pushed back a chair and walked over to the wall the phone hung on.
“Hello, this is Maddie Fenton speaking.”
He’d been right.  He smiled a little and turned the page.  Those were some nice nebulas.
“Matthew?  I wasn’t expecting–  What?  No.  No, that can’t–”  She fell silent for a long minute, quiet except for exclamations of shock.  “Do you know how–?  I understand.  I understand.  Of course we’ll be coming.  I might not agree with- with–  Oh, god.”
There was a sort of heavy sound, and Danny got up, leaving his book on the couch.  His mother was sitting against the wall, under the phone receiver.  Jack and Jazz had both gotten out of their seats, their projects abandoned on the table.
“Okay,” said Maddie.  “Okay.  I understand.  We’ll be ready to go when they get here.  Okay.  Call me if anything… Alright.  Matthew–  I’m sorry.  I wish–”  She shook her head.  “I’m sorry.  We’ll be there.”  She dropped the phone and let it hang from its cord, the ‘no signal’ noise coming on a minute later.
“Mom?” asked Danny.  “What happened?”
She looked up.  “Your, um.”  She rubbed at her eyes.  “That was my cousin, Matthew.  Grandpa Alfred and Grandma Rose…”
Those were her grandparents, Danny’s great-grandparents.  Maddie’s parents had died before Danny was born.
“What happened?” prodded Danny, well aware it couldn’t be anything good.
“They died,” said Maddie, softly.  “A earlier– Last night–  Hours ago.  And so did– So did your Great Uncle Theodore and your Great Aunt Isabella.  And, um, my cousins William and Martin.”
“Oh my god,” said Jazz.  “What happened?  Were they all on a plane together, or…?”
“No,” said Maddie.  “They don’t know what happened.  Aunt Cathrine and Uncle John aren’t doing well, and apparently Vivian is missing.”
Of course Aunt Cathrine and Uncle John weren’t doing well.  Their spouses had just died.  Danny wasn’t doing all too well himself, and he couldn’t say he’d been close to any of them.  They were still family.
“What about the others?  Lewis and Leo?  Or Iris and George?  Or Joanna and Eugene?”
“I don’t know,” said Maddie, pushing her hair back from her face.  “Matthew didn’t mention them.  I’m sure if something happened to his kids he would have said something.”
“We’re going, aren’t we, Mads?”
“Yeah,” said Maddie.  “Um.”  She scrubbed her sleeve across her face.  “Kids, go get packed.  Jack, we need Spector Deflectors for all of us.”
“You think it was ghosts?” asked Jack.
“Six of my family members just dropped dead with no cause of death,” said Maddie, voice breaking in the middle of the sentence.  “Grandma and Grandpa were ninety-eight, but Martin was our age.  And all at once?  It’s just like with my parents…”  She shuddered, then started the process of pulling herself up off the floor.  Jack gave her a hand up.  “There’s a ghost involved.”  She shook her head.  “I warned them.”
She and Jack went to the lab door.  When they got there, she turned back.  “You need to go, showers and pack now.  I don’t know how long it will be before they’ll pick us up.”
“A flight to Chicago from London usually takes eight or so hours,” said Jazz.  “So at least that, unless they sent someone to pick us up before calling.”
“I don’t know,” said Maddie.  “It sounded like–  I don’t know.”
“Alright,” said Jack.  “I’ll take care of things in the lab, you get our things together for the trip.”
“Jack, you can’t do it all by yourself.”
“I’m just getting the deflectors and making sure everything is off.  You’re doing the packing.”
.
Danny knelt on the floor, debating.  The last time they’d visited that part of the family had been before his accident.  There were a lot of things he wanted to bring, but what he could bring was a different story.  The fact was, he had no idea what the plane would allow, much less security and customs, and some of his stuff was incredibly suspicious.
Vials of green, glowing, liquid, anyone?
Meditatively, he rubbed his hands over the spot in the floor he’d phased his special first-aid kit into.  There was definitely going to be trouble.  It would absolutely be useful to have a way to patch himself up.  If anyone saw some of the more… unusual items, there would be questions he couldn’t answer.
Maybe he could just take the less suspicious parts?  Nothing with visible ectoplasm in it.
He phased the kit out from the floor and continued packing.  The funeral would undoubtedly be a formal event, but he knew he’d be doing some snooping, so he wanted to bring something he could move in…
The enormity of what had happened hit him again, and he swayed.  So much of his family…  It didn’t matter that they weren’t close.  Both his heart and his core cried in grief and out for justice.  Maybe it would turn out that it had been some kind of freak accident in the end.
But if it wasn’t, whoever was responsible would be very sorry indeed.
As Danny forced the last of his gear into his suitcase - using only a little phasing to get it done - he heard a car pull up in front of Fentonworks.  Then another.  Then another.
He looked out the window.  Down below were three huge dark gray cars, each one built squat and stout.  If he didn’t miss his guess, the tinted windows were probably bulletproof and the interiors armored.
They were exactly the kind of vehicle Sam would hate and Tucker would love.
Oh, crud.  Sam and Tucker.
He grabbed his phone, belatedly remembering to throw the charger into his bag, and dialed Sam.
“This is a bit early for you, isn’t it?” said Sam, by way of greeting.  “Did the ghosts finally come back?”
“Um,” said Danny, “no.”  He wasn’t sure how to say this.  “My great-grandparents just died, and, um, my great-aunt and uncle.  And some of my cousins.”
“Oh my gosh, Danny, are you alright?”
“Not really,” said Danny.  “I’m still… processing.”
“What happened?”
“I don’t know, Mom didn’t say.  We’re leaving right now, and I don’t know how long we’ll be out of town–”
“Danny!  Jazz!  They’re here!” called Maddie from downstairs.
“I’ve got to go,” said Danny.  “Just keep an eye on things?  Please?”
“Of course,” said Sam.  “Call me when you can?”
“Yeah.  Could you call Tucker, I called you because I knew you’d be awake, but–”
“Danny!”
“I really have to go, thanks, bye!”
He snapped the phone closed and hefted his suitcase over his shoulder.  No more time.  He had to hope things wouldn’t collapse too badly while he was gone.  He had been out of town before.
But he didn’t know how long this would be.
He reached the ground floor at the same time his dad came up from the basement, a small amount of ectoplasm splattered on his jumpsuit.
“Are you okay?” asked Danny.
Jack made a face, but then forced a smile.  “Sure thing, Danny-boy!  Just shutting down the portal while we’re away.”  His smile twitched.  “It’ll… probably be fine while we’re gone.  Shouldn’t be too many more natural portals in town, as long as we don’t leave it off for too long.”
“Right,” said Danny, offering up a very similar smile.
“Maybe I can ask Vladdie to look after the portal while we’re gone?”
“You’ll have to call him later,” said Danny, hoping Jack would forget.
They emerged into the entryway, where there were several large men wearing suits.  Danny could see, very faintly, the outline of real guns under their jackets.  One of them was more familiar than expected.
“Mr. Kynbaz,” said Danny.  Even knowing Matthew was sending someone, he didn’t think it would be Mr. Kynbaz.
“Hello there, Master Daniel, Dr. Fenton,” said Mr. Kynbaz, with a soft but rather strained smile.
“I didn’t think you ever left the country,” said Danny, before he could think better of it.
Mr. Kynbaz’s expression twisted in pain.  “We were a only a couple hours north, in Canada.”
“Oh, for Johanna and Eugene?” asked Maddie.  “I’d forgotten they were visiting his father there this year…”
“Yes, ma’am,” said Mr. Kynbaz.  “They left for home on their own plane; we have a charter for you at the airport.”
“Alright,” said Maddie.  “I don’t suppose you have any other news?”
“I’m afraid not, ma’am.”
“Alright,” said Maddie.  “Alright.  So, we just… go.”
Mr. Kynbaz nodded.  “If you would let Mr. Rigyn and Miss Blys take your bags, we’ll get you into the cars.”
Maddie nodded and stepped forward.
“One at a time,” said Mr. Kynbaz.  “I’m sorry, ma’am, but with as little as we know, I don’t want your whole family to be out in the open at once.”
Danny felt himself go pale.  That wasn’t something he’d even considered.
There was a brief discussion about bringing the GAV instead - it was armored - but in the end they left the house and got into the car one by one.
Mr. Kynbaz entered last, settling into his seat with a sigh.  He pushed a button on his earpiece and said, “Princess Madeline and family are secured.  Move out.”

Miscellaneous (non-Starbula) Post-Vol. 3 Headcanons
The Sovereign are so averse to making contact with "lesser beings" that they don't make physical greetings or signs of affection like hugs, handshakes, fist bumps, high fives, etc. Adam has been gradually learning these gestures since moving to Knowhere.
Phyla calls Nebula Mommy/Mama, Quill is Dad and Drax is Papa. All the other adults are Uncles or Aunts, except Rocket (he's Captain).
High Evolutionary considers most of Quill's playlist "not real music", so Rocket makes sure his prison cell is placed near one of the biggest speakers to annoy him whenever they play it.
Adam thinks Star-Lord is actual nobility, and he addresses Quill as Your Lordship.
Kraglin and Cosmo have built a specially made pen for Mantis' Abilisks on Knowhere, so they can stay there when/if she comes home.
Once they have all the buildings repaired (and any other new buildings/facilities they're planning to set up) Nebula wants to go looking around the other planets for more plant life to put on Knowhere so they can make it look nicer and greener. Groot will be her main consultant for picking the best ones.
When Rocket's new Guardians go on their missions, Phyla always likes to take souvenirs from the planets she goes to and bring them back to Knowhere to show Nebula. It's usually just mundane trinkets or even bits of rock or rubble, but she treats every one she collects like a beautiful treasure.
Adam, Phyla and the other rescued experiments don't know or remember when they were born and have no birth records. So they all share a "birthday" on the anniversary of the day they came to Knowhere and became part of the Guardians family.
Nebula's favourite music groups are Generation X and U2, but she hasn't told anyone this.
When Quill eventually comes back to Knowhere, he'll have caught up on all the trends, songs and pop culture changes that happened during his time in space and want to share them with everyone else. Most of them still prefer his 70's/80's stuff, though.

Starbula Week Day 4 Parents
@starbulaweek
Thanks to the song Guardians Inferno and opening scene for GOTG VOL 2, I can picture Peter and Nebula being forced to bring their son to a mission that goes wrong and now they have to play toss and catch with their baby.
"Baby!" He nonchalantly tossed his 8-month-old child to Drax, narrowly evading the incoming energy blast. The Destroyer deftly caught the baby, securing him against his massive chest as he rolled and, with a swift, powerful move, used his shoulders to tackle a group of Saakaran soldiers to the ground.
Zed, the baby, giggled in delight. The chaos of battle seemed to have no impact on him. If anything, it was like having a playdate with his parents, uncles, and aunts— even though bringing a baby into a battle was both illegal and highly irresponsible.
Drax roared in triumph, his laughter ringing out. "Did you enjoy that, little Quill? Let's tear someone's spine out!"
"Drax, if I see a single drop of blood on my child, I'll personally ensure your spine is ripped out," Nebula warned through the comms, Peter repeating her words.
"When my daughter was this small, she helped me slay a beast and her clothes got stained with its blood like a true warrior!—Haaaaaaa!" Zed's laughter rang out again as Drax lifted a soldier off his face, held him aloft, and then unceremoniously dropped him to the ground, bones cracking in the process.
“That doesn’t sound credible at all” Rocket commented.
"Hey, Glowing Gilt!" Peter yelled as he bopped a guy on the head with the back of his blaster, narrowly dodging a punch from another assailant. "Get the kid before Drax turns MY Baby into a bloodbath!"
"You two are growing soft! Groot was raised like this and turned out just fine!"
"I am Groot!"
"Oh, really? Shall I remind you when he got arrested by Nova Corps for blowing up an ice cream truck?"
"I am Groot!"
"I've never killed an innocent civilian over ice cream!"
"The baby's airborne!" Kraglin interjected, and both parents watched in horror as their son descended toward the ground.
"Oh, hell!" Peter powered through another group of soldiers, using his jet boots to boost himself towards his firstborn. Nebula, however, reached their son first, gracefully cradling him in her arms.
"Oh, Hala!" Peter breathed out, his heart lodged in his throat. Yeah, next time, they were definitely hiring a babysitter, or someone would have to stay behind.

RETURN OF THE NEW LONGSTAR AU - THREE TO TANGO
Longstar Au – Three Stars Rising, One Star Falling
Inbetween Books
Spiderleg is bullied into the Healer’s den by Darkmoon, and is revealed to be In The Family Way.  He refuses to name the Sire to the clan at large - citing Queen’s Rights - and entrusts the name to Sootfur, who joined the Elders as a Historian after his severe injuries fighting the badgers. Toadkit and Rosekit are adorable, but Spiderleg often leaves them in the Nursery with the Queens.  Sootfur visits often enough that the kits see him as their father.
Charkit of Sorreltail’s litter is discovered to have only three feet – Brackenfur suggests naming her Cinder but Sorreltail refuses, wanting her kitten to have her own future, not weighed down by her aunt’s sacrifice.  Her striking resemblance to the Healer, and her similar leg scenario, still weighs upon the kit, who works with Darkmoon and a supportive Cloudtail to exercise and navigate life.
On a border patrol, Whitewing finds an injured tom named Birch, and carries him back to camp.  He recovers from his (somewhat embarrassing) fall from a tree, and joins Thunderclan.  He brings tales of his birth family – The Sisters – and Longstar is curious but cautious about the group.
Frostfoot semi-retires to become a historian and tactician, and Whitestorm informs Longstar of his intention to retire as well.  Longstar despairs at choosing a new Deputy, and falls into a restless sleep after Flamewish drags him into their nest.  He dreams of the old Thunderclan camp, watches it shift into the new camp, watches it float and crumble in a dark sky.  Suddenly, a bright star flares, and the constellations of Silverpelt spring to life.  The star warps into a great cat, one half of their face spilling nebulas and colors, that cradles the clan back into a whole.  He wakes, knowing exactly who to name. The next day, Longstar calls a meeting, and announces Whitestorm’s retirement.  Longstar calms the clan, calling forth a cat who has cared for Thunderclan and for the connections that Thunderclan has created within their allied clans.  He calls forth Brightheart to become Deputy.  Brightheart is shocked but delighted, Cloudtail and Daisy dance around their mate, and their kits crow gleefully.
Soon after, Crowfeather comes over to visit Swiftpool.  He shares the news that his foster sister Nightcloud and her mate Gorseflicker are now parents to three kits – Breezekit, a little black tom; Locustkit, a black and orange tortie molly; and Eveningkit, a grey and golden molly.  Swiftpool notes that Hopfoot will have plenty of time to spoil his grandkits now that he’s retired.  Crowfeather jokes that Gorseflicker cried over his kits so hard he was kicked out of the Nursery by Nightcloud, and Swiftpool laughs so hard she goes into labor.
By nightfall, three more kits have been born.  Crowfeather names Jaykit after the brilliant blue of his eyes, Swiftpool names Hollykit after her spiky fur, and Lionkit is named for his loud cries.  As the kits grow, Lionkit is noted to have the shorter legs like his Granduncle Fireheart.  Jaykit is blind, but already uses his senses to navigate fairly well.  And Hollykit is anxious and easily moved to emotion by others. They are supported wholeheartedly by their family and clan.
In Windclan, Breezekit plays with Whitetail’s kits Heatherkit and Galekit.  Locustkit and Eveningkit escape camp one night and discover a series of tunnels.  Mudstar is delighted to refound the Tunneler Role, with Locustkit loudly declaring that she wants to be one.
Leopardstar watches her clan grow, watches Hawkfrost befriend the local otters, watches Mistyfoot teach the next generation how to fish in these new waters.  She is determined to do better – to be better – and a starry-coated cat silently agrees.  Stonefur remains her unseen shadow for the rest of her days.
Blackstar and Russetfur, Leader and Deputy, chosen siblings, peer into the Nursery.  Tawnypelt and Rowanclaw are curled around three new Shadowclanners.  A golden tom – Goldenkit – a fiery orange tom – Emberkit – and a creamy molly – Dawnkit.  All the promise of a new morning, not weighed down by the cloying shadows of their grandfather.
Outside of the clans, Sol seethes.  He still has some of the power the Rotten Storm bestowed upon him, but knows instinctively that the day he uses the last of it, is the day he loses his voice forever.  In his wanderings, he comes across a mysterious old badger, who warns him that unless he changes his ways, unless he gives up on vengeance against the clans, that he will suffer in ways he could never imagine.  Sol glares at the beast, but his eyes catch on a berry juice mural of the moon overtaking the sun, and leaves with a new plan in mind.  Midnight scoffs at the foolish tom, knowing that no matter what he does, his waning power will strip him of everything he holds dear…
Sandstorm and her kittypet friend Millie make it to the Hope’s Rest Clowder, and Sandstorm does not take the news of the clans moving very well.  Thankfully, Darkstripe gives them basic directions to the mountains, and the pair of friends head off.  The Clowder’s friendly twoleg healer watches the exchange in interest. She’s convinced that these cats are intelligent, and vows to protect them as best she can.
Apprentice Adventures
On the day of their apprenticeships, Hollypaw chooses to become a Warrior, and is apprenticed to Ashfur He promises to help her grow into her own pelt, and Hollypaw nervously but proudly accepts.  Jaypaw wants to be a Hunter/Tracker, and is assigned to Brightheart and Snowthorn.  He’s giddy with relief, having doubts that he would be allowed to be anything but a Support Role.  Lionpaw has already been nearly living in the Healer’s Den, so it’s no surprise that she wants to join their ranks. His uncle and granduncle welcome him cheerily.
At the next Gathering, Jaypaw’s keen ears hear Mousepaw flirting with Riverclan apprentice Minnowpaw, and muses to Hollypaw that there may be a new cross-clan couple.  The Leaders are interrupted by a commotion – Coldlight screeches SANDSTORM?!?!?!?  Longstar leaps down and the whole of Thunderclan greets the long-missing molly.  She introduces Millie as a potential clanmate, and Graystripe immediately starts flushing and stammering.  Millie is charmed by the fluffy fool, and asks him to escort her to camp.  Coldlight pulls Sandstorm to the side as soon as they get in eyesight of camp, and has a private conversation with his long-time crush.  She asks for time to process his love confession, but assures him that no matter what, he will always be her friend.
The next morning, Sandstorm gathers up Longstar, Flamewish, and their many kits, and tells them of a dream she had.  A starry cat who identified himself as Micah had given her a Prophecy – Three of thine leaders kin shalt be gifted by the Stars, and They shall spark a great Light that shall Burn Back the Clawing Dark.  He had vanished before Sandstorm could pin him down and get an explanation, and freaked out Millie quite a bit.
The group tries to figure out who it is, ruling out Cloudtail early to his annoyance and everyone else’s amusement.  Swiftpool points out her recent litter, and Fireheart notes that Lionpaw always seems to know where another cat is hurting. The apprentices are gathered, and after some questioning, Jaypaw admits to sometimes being in his sibling’s dreams. Hollypaw realizes that the last time she got into a fight (against a rather pissed off chicken that escaped the Horseplace) she hadn’t gotten heavily injured when it definitely pecked her hard enough to draw blood.  But when she stepped on a thorn she was bleeding?  Lionpaw easily talks about feeling other’s pain, but had thought he was just very empathetic?  Flamewish calls for Yellowfang, who pops in and confirms that Something Is Up.  The siblings are Star-Blessed, but not to let it get to their heads. The old molly scoffs, and says that Micah is an old Skyclan spirit, and had a noted soft spot for kits, so meant no harm.
The siblings are shaken, but do their best to keep on going.  Lionpaw finds his connection to Starclan when Jaypaw and Breezepaw fall into a hole during the Peacetime Competition and he has a Vision of their distress.  Jaypaw works hard with Brightheart and Snowthorn, testing his dreamwalking limits on his siblings – with permission of course.  Hollypaw finds herself more confident, knowing that the stars have a place just for her, and Ashfur praises her for starting to stretch herself.  She still finds herself easily shaken, but discovers a love of plants, leading to some Herbalist training.
However, the shadows of Miretrees are reaching out…
After a particularly bad day, Hollypaw wakes in a strange place.  It’s a piece of the border by the Lake, but the sun is low, and there’s the faint smell of blood and fur in the air.  A large brown tabby appears, his chest covered in leaves and flowers.  He asks her of her woes, and Hollypaw mutters about feeling unappreciated sometimes.  He proclaims that he will teach her to be a Great Warrior, but Hollypaw laughs – Ashfur is a great mentor, how could you, a random primping prettyboy, do any better than him?  She laughs herself awake, and Brambleclaw throws a massive tantrum in the Dark Forest.
While out hunting, Charpaw falls out of a tree, injuring her footless hind leg. Jaypaw helps her back to camp, and verbally tears the ears off of Sootfur for suggesting she retire to be an Elder or Support role, stop projecting!! Just because you couldn’t handle your business doesn’t mean that Charpaw can’t handle hers!!!  Brightheart has to hold him back but does NOT make him apologize.  Lionpaw states that even if Charpaw was, I don’t know, Cinderpelt’s reincarnation, it wouldn’t matter!  Darkmoon is touched by the brothers being so protective, but has to reassure Charpaw that no, Lionpaw was using a hypothetical.
Soon after, Millie gives birth to three more kits – Blossom, Briar, and Bumble.  Graystripe is startled but delighted – he had no idea she was pregnant – but takes to fatherhood again with joy and zeal.
At the next Gathering, Riverclan calls for aid – a bunch of twolegs have half-invaded their territory.  Jaypaw and Hollypaw sneak off to take a look, but are caught by Uncle Hawkfrost and his otter friends.  Hawkfrost scolds them officially, but lets them take a look at the tottering twoleg kits, and introduces Weed and Log, his otter pals.  The pair of apprentices get in trouble for sneaking out, but think that meeting the strange river dwellers was worth it.  Back at camp, Lionpaw dreams of an orange-and white cat failing to outrun the rising waters in a tunnel, and a hairless cat throws him out of sleep.  Somewhere else in camp, Sandstorm and Coldlight become mates.
Some time later, Locustpaw goes missing.  Jaypaw and Lionpaw join in the search, and along with Breezepaw, find her stuck in the tunnels.  As the rain makes the waters rise, Lionpaw remembers his dreams, and leads the groups to safety.  Locustpaw’s tail must be partially amputated, but she lives to dig another day.
Stormfur and Brook show up at Thunderclan camp, asking for aid.  Longstar agrees, and Foxflight gets the whole Journey gang back together, and drags her niece and nephews along.  Crowfeather brings Breezepaw and Galepaw to help – an accomplished hunter and a promising healer.  The group reunites with Feathertail, and she is delighted to meet some of her friend’s new families and hear about the rest.  She is gleeful at the thought of her half-siblings, but sad she won’t meet them in person.  Jaypaw wonders if he could pull them into one dream, but decides to just poke at Graystripe to bring his family for a visit sometime.  Lionpaw and Galepaw pester Feathertail for what helps with her back, and she happily gives them all the details.
After running off the intruders, the three siblings and Crowfeather have a bonding moment.  It is somewhat interrupted by Yellowfang and Tallstar’s spirits showing up, but they only confirm that yes, the siblings ARE Star-blessed, and to watch out for the Miretrees residents showing up, as Snowfur caught her ex-mate lurking around the borders of Starclan.
After a tearful goodbye, the group settle back into their clans.  Hollypaw once more dreams of the strange lake scene, but this time there are two brown tabbies.  The larger one begins to speak, but Hollypaw has heard enough stories about the death of Tiger”star” to recognize the injury – even half hidden by reeds and leaves – and screams for her Gran-Gran Yellowfang.  She flings awake, tumbling into Charpaw and Jaypaw, and Lionpaw bustles in to see what’s wrong.  She sputters out what happened, and Lionpaw runs for Darkmoon and Fireheart.  A confused Charpaw comforts her friend, as Jaypaw stomps around angrily.  Fireheart clears them out of the den, and makes them all sleep in the Hearer’s Den, for added protection.  Even with Fireheart assuring that the dark goes for everyone, Hollypaw wonders…did they come after me because I’m the weakest one?
And a seed of doubt is planted.
The Plot Thickens and The Sun Vanishes
Some time later, SOMEONE is trying to get Windclan and Thunderclan fighting.  It doesn’t work, but Mudstar asks that they spend a week out of contact, to see if both sides scent the same intruder.  Crowfeather bids his family a teary farewell, and Swiftpool clings sadly to her sister and Shrewleg for a while.  One night, Berrynose spots what he SWEARS is a Literal Lion, no, really, I am Not JOKING!!!  At the end of the week, Fireheart, Darkmoon, and Lionpaw go to gather herbs, and see a strange cat with a mane.  The tom loudly declares that he will be blocking out the sun tomorrow, and bolts before Darkmoon and Fireheart can catch him.  Fireheart moans about aching joints, and Darkmoon carries him back to camp, with Lionpaw telling Berrynose No That Was Not A Lion Just A Weirdo.
And then some of Windclan’s young bucks start a fight with a Thunderclan patrol.  Both clans send out everyone to calm the fight, and a Shadowclan patrol shows up, and Riverclan comes to yell at people.
And the ginger and black tom watches.
And the sun goes out.
Chaos ensues, everyone scrambling to figure out what’s happening.  The stranger cuts in front of Blackstar, who was leading the patrol, and Speaks.  The Shadowclan leader calls for his clan to follow him home, and they depart.  And a few nights later, Tawnypelt comes to camp with terrible news.  Blackstar, under the influence of the stranger Sol, has turned his back on Starclan.  There is something missing in his eyes, a blankness that reminds her of a dying cat.  He tried to put her apprentice-age kits into their adult roles, and thus she seeks shelter with them.  An appalled Longstar agrees, and Goldenpaw, Emberpaw, and Dawnpaw are welcomed into the apprentice den.  Jaypaw declares that it’s too crowded, which gives Longstar an idea.
The next morning, he promotes Hollypaw, Jaypaw, and Charpaw to their adult names.  Hollypaw becomes Hollywish, for her bright ideas for the future, and in honor of her beloved grandmother.  Flamewish is delighted at the surprise, and a jubilant Hollywish practically bounces in place.  Jaypaw is named Jaywhisker, for his sharp senses and even sharper barbs to the deserving.  Brightheart cries a little as her first apprentice is promoted, and Jaywhisker is a little overwhelmed with all the cheering.  And Charpaw is named Charheart, for her loving spirit and determination to never give up.  Charheart is embraced by her family, and beams delightedly.  Shortly after, Flyshadow comes running from the Healer’s den ASHFUR I’M PREGNANT!!! Whitewing also announces that she’s pregnant the next day! The clan is full of life and joy!
The Skies Grow Cloudy
But it doesn’t last.  Millie and Briarkit become ill, and it soon begins to spread.  Lionpaw and Emberpaw think it’s related to Sol – Riverclan has noticed dying fish, and Windclan has seen birds falling from the sky.  So the Thunderclan siblings and the Shadowclan siblings formulate a plan.
Emberpaw and Jaypaw decide to fake a sign, having a tree fall in front of Sol and Blackstar.  Lionpaw thinks that faking a sign might be sacrilege, but hopes that the Stars are forgiving of a lie to free a clan.  Hollywish and Dawnpaw leverage the tree down, and Goldenpaw makes ghostly noises…that are soon joined by Runningnose and Raggedstar.  The blankness goes out of Blackstar’s eyes, and he turns on Sol with all the fury of the blazing sun.  Sol flees, cursing the clans again, and Shadowclan is restored.  The newfound friends bid farewell, promising to stay in touch.
In Thunderclan camp, Longstar loses a life to the illness, prompting Jaywhisker to dreamwalk Kestrelpaw the Windclan Healer’s apprentice.  Lionpaw goes to gather the precious catmint, and nearly walks in on Breezepaw, Heatherpaw, and Antpaw having relationship drama.  He sneaks by, and returns triumphant.  At the next Half Moon ceremony, he is promoted to Lionblossom, for his ability to make hope blossom wherever he goes.
And then a fire breaks out.
The trio are trapped on one side of the fire, and as Swiftpool and Foxflight maneuver a branch to help them, the ginger and black shape of Sol tries to stop them.  The mollies beat the stuffing out of him easily, and he flees.  Lionblossom notes that Sol’s tail might be burnt, judging by the pain that Lionblossom feels.  Everyone reunites, with Ashfur having a nasty burn on his flanks, but all alive.
While out playing, Briarkit is attacked by a snake.  Honeyfern bravely leaps in the way and is bitten on the face.  Lionblossom, in just as much agony as she is, makes the swift but painful decision to remove the bitten eye.  Fireheart and Darkmoon arrive on the scene to a passed out Honeyfern and Lionblossom, and a screaming Briarkit.  After some emergency treatment, Honeyfern is stabilized, and Lionblossom wakes up mortified.  Berrynose and Poppyfrost are frantic, and when Honeyfern wakes, they take turns at her side.  Darkmoon notes that Honeyfern will most likely never hear out of her right ear, and will certainly never bear kits.  She and Berrynose begin to mourn, but Poppyfrost offers to be their surrogate.
A few days later, the newly named Breezepelt and Heathertail come to camp – they saw Sol leaving Windclan prey of Thunderclan land, and would you like to go Get Him?  A patrol is sent, and Foxflight is kept from finishing the beating she started earlier by the return of PURDY!?! She escorts the old tom to camp, and begs her father to let Gramps Purdy stay, plllleeeeaaassseee???  Longstar snorts at the obvious manipulation, but allows it.  Sol is locked in the Healer’s Den, and seems to be cooperative.
At the next Gathering, Longstar defends his choice to not kill the cat, he must be judged by Starclan.  The other leaders agree, Blackstar very brusque and standoffishly, but all seems to be going well.
Then Hollywish has to go into the Healer’s Den.
And Sol says his Last Word.
R U N
The light goes out of Hollywish’s eyes, and she bolts for the tunnels.  Jaywhisker hears his sister’s harsh breathing, and tears after her, Charheart and Lionblossom in hot pursuit.
Hollywish enters the tunnels and
                                                   The
                                                          Rocks
                                                                     Fall
(Atop the stones, Brambleclaw gives a baleful grin)
Lionblossom screams in pain, Jaywhisker paws at the rocks, and Charheart yowls for aid.
In the Healer’s Den, Sol coughs out pieces of his tongue, ashy and rotten.
And he laughs and laughs and laughs.
And in the Nursery, Whitewing and Flyshadow huddle around the kits, who sleep peacefully.
