Literally every single version of prelude from any Final Fantasy game is heart achingly good. Like, makes my knees weak, put a catch in my throat, makes my heart hurt.

I have been listening to it since I was 5 years old, maybe a little earlier. It doesn't just speak to me as a gamer, or a fan of the series. It is an homage to the human spirit.

Every game pits people against inhuman odds, and they rise to the occasion. Some do it because it's destiny, some for love, some for their friends. But they always pick themselves up.

The rising and falling notes evoke a response in my brain, my body, my soul to keep fighting. For myself, for love, for my friends.

I wish I could more properly express how I react to it, how it breaks me, shores me up, carries me forward.
