‘ i’m telling you, rey, this is my fucking shit. ’     lance said as they settled into one of the lounge areas, a grin on his face, making himself comfortable with his arms draped at the back of the leather sofa.  taking the scotch from audrey when she extended a hand to give it to him, taking a sip from it immediately.     ‘ i was basically raised at these balls and parties, probably the only thing dad ever did right was getting me used to all this. ’     sipping again from the drink, she then grinned at the other.     ‘ and i got you at my side, what more could i ask for ? ‘

1)  Avoid smoking & alcohol. Duh      a.  Smoking is #1 predictive factor of health      b.  Drinking too much hurts your health, but over long haul makes you less happy and screws up relationships      c.  Maintaining a healthy weight and regular exercise also boosts longevity and happiness
2)  Years of education = good. Education seems to increase good habits      a.  Self-care and perseverance are important things learned with education
3)  A happy childhood. Surrounding yourself later in life with people who love you can help repair a difficult youth      a.  Best predictor of a high income was whether their mother made them feel loved
4)  Relationships are everything. Happiness is love      a.  Social aptitude, also known as emotional intelligence, more important than IQ or family wealth for living a long and happy life
5)  Coping skills. Stop projecting and stop being passive-aggressive. Use mature defenses like humor when life gets hard. (Yes, immature humor is still mature coping. You're welcome.)      a.  Self-absorbed, attention seeking behavior (screaming, pouting, blaming others, being passive-aggressive, acting out), living in denial, and retreating into fantasy are coping mechanisms associated with poor outcomes      b.  Coping strategies that lead to happier lives are:           i.  altruism - doing to others as you want done to you, choosing to help others            ii.  sublimation - transforming energy from destructive acts into something less harmful or creative, for example, I’m angry so I’m going to chop wood            iii.  suppression - avoiding thoughts and situations that lead to anxiety, not dwelling on thoughts that will only make you upset or desire to act in inappropriate ways            iv.  distraction - an example is having medical tests done and worrying about what the results will be, so turns on the TV to get mind off of it            v.  humor - laughing at life’s difficulties is a way look at things in a different way, helps keep them from appearing too overwhelming or scary, and is a way to bond with others
6)      Generativity – giving back. Build a good life, a well-rounded self and then give back      a.  Between ages 30 and 45 our need for achievement declines and need for community and affiliation increases. This is found by being a guide, a coach, mentoring others

Shares in Commonwealth Bank dropped on Wednesday as the stock went ex-dividend and after the bank’s executives faced scrutiny for allegedly breaking rules on access to low-cost retirement funds in the latest revelation to come from Australia’s financial sector inquiry. CBA shares fell as much as 3.7 per cent in morning trade in Sydney to A$73.02, and were tracking for their biggest one-day decline since last August. The shares were trading ex-dividend on Wednesday, ahead of a final dividend of A$2.31 per share (fully franked) to be paid to shareholders on September 28.

"America is a wonderful country. From breathtaking natural wonders toincredible attractions, there's a lot that the US gets right. But boy, is there a lot it gets wrong. What's up with the giant gaps between bathroom stalls? And why do Blue Laws still exist? Why can't Americans drink outside like civilized humans? As a European (I grew up in Germany, Austria, and France) who has lived in the US for 11 years, there are still a plethora of things that never cease to boggle my mind, as well as the minds of my foreign friends and relatives. Keep reading for 51 egregious mistakes the US is making."
