I found this neat portrait of Roustam Raza made by Hortense de Beauharnais! Circa 1800s

Roustam was Napoleon’s bodyguard and valet, and Hortense was Napoleon’s stepdaughter. Roustam was an Armenian Mameluke in Egypt, originally from Tbilisi. He became employed by Napoleon during the Egypt campaign in 1799, following him back to Europe, and remained by his side until Napoleon’s abdication in 1814. He lived the rest of his life in France.

Oh, wow. Being sold as is? The whole thing's been reno'd. It's brand new. The coffered ceiling is white, it has a new fireplace in sleek black, too. The home is a complete blank slate waiting for the new owner's special touch.

Edward Eggleston - "Woman with Peacock" - 1930's Painting - An incredible auction today by Heritage Art Gallery with this beautiful painting selling for over $20,000. There were several items from Elvgren, Driben, and others. There are still collectors that love the old art. The four Medcalf paintings were well received and were part of the artist's private collection. The lady in the carousel sold for over $20,000 as well with the others going for slightly less. This is one of my favorites from Eggleston!

So I was giggling at Napoleon’s signature here and how odd his handwriting is.

The content of letter was less funny. It was a condolence letter from Napoleon to Berthier:

“My cousin, I share in your pain. The loss of a father is always sensitive. I know you and I understand your sorrows […]”

"Mon cousin je prends part à votre douleur. la perte d'un pere est toujours sensible. je vous connais et je comprends vos peines (...)" Saint-Cloud, 3 prairial an XII (23 mai 1804).

After much deliberation over where and how I would sell my Neopets needle felts, I've decided to just auction them off. It takes a while to make them so it would not be worth it to pay for a shop front that is rarely stocked.

But now I'm unsure of how best to hold those auctions. I don't want anyone to have to sign up for any other site or app just to bid, so ideally I would just make a post and take bids in the replies. I feel like that would work fine but it might get disorganized.

Anyone have any suggestions? If not I'll give the replies idea a go.
