AOT HEADCANON: TATTED UP
Here are some tattoos styles I think AOT characters would gravitate towards if they were heavily tattooed!!
Mentioned: Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Reiner, Jean, Porco, Annie
Eren
Black work tattoos are SO beautiful and I feel like Eren would definitely go all out and get his whole arm blacked out with some negative space like this ^ eren doesn’t have a deep reason why he got this, he knows it looks cool and makes him seem like a badass so he’ll do it
Armin
Armin would get little stick n’ poke style tattoos scattered around his body. Nothing too large, or stereotypical— everything is unique to him and has a lot of meaning. He thinks about these little tats months before getting them
Mikasa
Mikasa is definitely also inspired by blackwork like Eren but enjoys a more delicate, Asian inspired look to it. She likes a lot of white space and highlights, and in her mind she sees these tattoos as a way for her to come into her own… while still simping for Eren a little bc their styles are similar.
Reiner
Reiner is an all or nothing person, so he wants to go all the way and get black and grey realism all over his arms, chest and back. He loves religious iconography and the lion, clock, rose tattoo. He’s self aware of the stigma of these tattoos but he laughs it off, saying that these tattoos have a special meaning to him (that’s what they all say) Despite him not knowing a whole lot about tattoos he is fascinated by the art form.
Jean
Jean loves black and white traditional!! He loves going into a shop for a drop in and picking something off the flash wall and getting it done right there. He doesn’t put a lot of thought into it, nor was he intending to have so many. But once he had one, he felt incomplete and had to add one more… the last one was never enough and now he’s covered
Porco
Porco loves COLOURFUL traditional. He loves old sailor tattoos and has lots of pinups tattoos. Early on in his tattoo journey he decided to commit to the old American aesthetic and went all in. He goes to one artist exclusively and basically gives them free reign to do whatever they want! He draws the line at his neck and hands though.
Annie
Annie would really be into new school traditional! Specifically colourful florals! She loves a good chest piece and so she has a floral arrangement on her chest. She’s really into symmetry and bright colours.

During the 19th century, scissors were hand-forged with elaborately decorated handles. They were made by hammering steel on indented surfaces known as 'bosses' to form the blades. The rings in the handles, known as bows, were made by punching a hole in the steel and enlarging it with the pointed end of an anvil.
