slightly unfortunate that the patpran play gave me line for line spoilers of atoats. they’re good lines though (and i quite look forward to seeing their original delivery in the actual show. There’s obviously some great scenes coming up for me. Also yes I watched the proposal when i’ve only seen half of atoats... it was really good, regardless. I might watch it again after i finish the og series.)

The fact that all of Phupha’s friends are just like ‘go get that boy, you two are totally on a date!’ and the preview shows Tian’s friend being shocked that he likes a boy is an interesting dynamic considering Tian seems very, very comfortable with his crush on Phupha, tbh.

Okay, I have THOUGHTS.
And they are a lot. And confused.
Chief "HoW cOuLd YoU lIe To Us" Phupa, do I need to remind you who didn't tell the villagers Torfun was dead FIRST?
"Just the heart the you took from her is enough"
Excuse me?? What do you think Tian should have done? Wake up in the middle of his surgery and go like "I'm sorry, but I have to know whose heart is this. Yeah, name, age, job- oh, it's the heart of a volunteer teacher? Ah, I'm afraid I can't take it, the villagers where she volunteer could be upset that I take a DEAD WOMAN'S HEART" and boh, die I guess?
Okay that he's a country boy and that he's grieving because Tian "it's all my fault even though I was literally dying in a bathroom" Sopasitsakun take all the blame on himself, but JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, does he think that before a transplant they give you a catalog of the new dead arrived and let you choose the donor you want?? Like "mhm, this heart seems nice, oh no, this seems a little bit underquality for my standard. I only want unique organs, I'm that picky ahah"
The fuck???
I'm angry. No, scratch that I'm FURIOUS.
Tian is not blameless, don't get me wrong, and I get the villagers' reaction too: they're grieving and they do believe that Tian is a murderer.
BUT THE RANGERS. AND CHIEF, OHH CHIEF.
You little self-righteous bastard, you know that Tian's self-esteem is low enough that is going negative and YET, you, apparently sinless saint, went and strikes where you knew it would hurt the most. AND YOU SUCCEEDED.
"Honestly, if it were possible, I wish I could return it to her as well"
How much does anyone think a person should hate/don't care about themselves that much to say this words? And how much you can be despicable to induce someone to think that way?
Yes, this thoughts were not instilled by Phupa, that's crystal clear, but he enforced them: Tian is not worthy to live, should that be a possibility, Torfun would be a much better choice.

Phupha doesn’t fear death. He knows that he might die but because he might die doing what he feels is most important, he knows it is worth it.
Tian fears death and has feared death for so long. He faced a death out of his control, a death from nothing and into nothing.
Now they’re facing each other, a man who doesn’t fear death and a man who escaped death.A man who faces the possibility of death regularly and a man who thought he’d died.

Phupha went so hard on Tian because he felt he had to, because he had orders, because he holds the cultural value of family above all else.
We watched him break his own heart, choose to break his own heart, because he thinks Tian can do better than him.
Tian has never imagined anything close to Phupha. His future without Phupha cannot come close to what he imagines with him.
And he is holding Phupha's love above his own desires. He loves Phupha so much that he cannot stay. Because he knows they wouldn't be able to be together.
And to stay in Pha Pun Dao, to stay with him and not be with him? That would be worse than being apart.
Their hearts are both broken, one by choice and the other by circumstance.

Tian's been keeping secrets and hiding his issues butthere's no hiding from this any longer. He can't pretend none of this is happening. He can't hide behind a smile or a joke or a complaint or even just silence.
Tian's secret, one of them, is coming out.
He's still so fragile. He looks at himself and he still sees all the mistakes he's ever made, all the wrongs he's done other people, all the ways he failed.
This is a chance for everyone around him to show him he's wrong. That they truly do care for him, as him, and not just as a replacement or as second best. But as him. As who he truly is.
As Tian.

If Tian is supposed to live for himself and live his life on his own terms then why are you still insisting he leave, Phupha?
Because if it were up to Tian, if it were truly his choice, he wouldn't go. He would stay with you forever.

Tian offering his blood and being told it can't be used because of his medication... omfg his FACE and the way he just STARED and you know, you KNOW, Tian would sacrifice everything for the chance to help his Chief. And being unable to because of the heart he received? To know that, in this moment of greatest need, he can't do anything because of the heart that he got, the heart that he can never live up to?

Tian with Phupha's jacket, filled with memories, and filled with the past and everything he wants and wanted but has been told to forget, to stop wanting, to give up. He's finally going to try to forget... but he still doesn't want to.
He's going to try, though. For Phupha's sake. Because Phupha is a bit of an idiot.

Darling Phupha trying to turn down Torfun by explaining that he's gay and not ever getting a chance to do that... poor man. And to know that she's dead, to know that she was in love with him and he never had a chance to give her the honest answer, to talk to her about it, to tell the truth.
There are so many secrets in Pha Pun Dao.
And so many of them are Phupha's.

All Tian can think is that Phupha is just one more thing, one more person, one more easy access that his father bought for him. One more thing that he didn't earn on his own. One more person that only cares because he has money. That only cares because of his father's money.
The one person he thought loved him for him, the one person he trusted to be honest with him. The person he trusted to protect him.
And then to have the idea that he only came for fun thrown back in his face. To have Phupha use his father's words against him. To have Phupha tell him to leave.
Then all of that was bought.
And none of that was real.
Then what can Tian trust?

Tian is going to leave. He's going to go back to Bangkok. He's leaving everything he's come to love and everything he's come to care about and the one person he's ever trusted with his heart.
... I know that there is supposedly a happy ending to this.
I am slightly worried, I must admit. I am trusting P'Aof but I am almost starting to regret that.
Because we have one more episode and he's going to leave. Yes, there's the rest of the episode to contend with... but what are they going to DO?
I want my fairy tale ending and I want it to be happy, not lonely. Wrong fairy tale, 1000 stars! WRONG FAIRY TALE.

There's such deep intimacy between Tian and Phupha, even with distance between, even with pain between. Their love just keeps flowing whenever they're near each other.
Apart, what are they going to do when they're apart?
Phupha tells Tian to live his life, to start over, to go back to where he was.
But that's not Tian any more. That life isn't his, that isn't him at all. It never truly was. He found himself in Pha Pun Dao, he found himself with the kids, he found himself with Phupha.
This moment, when Tian tells Phupha where he will be. When he tells him to come, to help him fulfill this last thing, this last action that Tian keeps hoping will finally wash away his guilt...
All Tian wants is to be wanted, to be told to stay.
But Phupha can't do that. Phupha can't ask that of him. He sees this life as a hardship rather than the gift it has been. He knows Tian's father will bring him home no matter what and he wants it to be Tian's choice.
Tian just wants to stay. He's found himself, his real self, his passion, his love... everything he never had, he found here. He sees this as a joy, as a new chance, as his greatest wish.
He loves Phupha so much, so deeply, so truly, that he is leaving him because he doesn't see another way, doesn't see a way to keep their love and themselves together because Phupha has made his wishes clear.
They are separating out of obligation and duty and against their wishes.
It really is a kind of fairy tale, isn't it?
