Is the spiritual person a conspiracy theorist? A list of red flags
They talk about a shadowy group of people supposedly manipulating everything behind the scenes. They might refer to them by terms such as globalists, bankers, international bankers, secret rulers of the world, the elite, the cabal, Kabbalists, Talmudists, satanists, satanic pedophiles, pedophiles, generational satanists, satanic bloodlines, the Illuminati, the Babylonian Brotherhood, lizard people, Reptilians, Orions, regressives, regressive entities, Khazarians, Marxists, cultural Marxists, or leftists. Sometimes, very rarely, they'll just come right out and say "Jews."
They claim that the conspiracy has been working to conceal historical and spiritual truths from humanity.
They claim that the conspiracy uses stuff like food, entertainment, and medicine to control the masses. For example, "additives in food suppress our psychic abilities" or "Hollywood films contain subliminal messages" or "COVID vaccines were actually created to alter your DNA to make you more docile."
Also, claims that the conspiracy controls people via spiritual or technological implants, 5G, or alter programming, with or without explicit mention of Project Monarch (a conspiracy theory promoted by far right cranks such as Mark Philips and Fritz Springmeier, who used hypnosis to respectively convince Cathy O'Brien and Cisco Wheeler that they'd been put under mind control by a global satanic conspiracy).
They claim that this conspiracy is controlling the media, has fingers in every institution they disagree with, and is generally behind everything they disagree with. (EG, the conspiracy created the Catholic Church; that other New Ager they disagree with is actually controlled opposition, etc.)
They claim that the conspiracy is trying to keep people in fear.
They claim that the conspiracy harvests something from people. Blood and adrenochrome are common ones. Loosh is somewhat less common. Expect to see something else pop up eventually.
They claim that the conspiracy practices genetic engineering; EG, creating animal/human hybrids, using vaccines to genetically sever people's connection to God, etc.
They claim that true spiritual wisdom can be traced back to places like Atlantis, Lemuria, or Mu.
They claim that world governments have secretly been in contact with extraterrestrials for years.
They appeal to known frauds and cranks, including but not limited to Erich Von Daniken, Zechariah Sitchin, David Icke, David Wilcock, Graham Hancock, Jaime Maussan, Bob Lazar, Steven Greer, Richard C. Hoagland, Fritz Springmeier, and Drunvalo Melchizedek.
Appeals to forged documents, including but not limited to the alleged diary of Admiral Richard Byrd, The Emerald Tablets of Thoth the Atlantean, and The Urantia Book.
Appeals to channeled information, such as that provided by Edgar Cayce, Carla Rueckert, or George Van Tassel.
"But all of this has to come from somewhere, doesn't it?"
Oh, it all comes from somewhere, all right, but the where isn't what most people imagine.
A lot of the stuff above is just a modern spin on the content of The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion, a Russian hoax created to justify violence against Russian Jews. The Protocols itself was plagiarized from a political satire and incorporated a lot of the post-French Revolution conspiracy theories about Freemasons and Jews being behind the French Revolution. I wrote a summary of the conspiracy tropes found in The Protocols over here.
The stuff about Satanic sacrifices and the consumption of blood, adrenochrome, loosh, or whatever are simply just variations on blood libel, an antisemitic conspiracy theory that claims Jews practice ritual cannibalism. Blood libel can be traced back to ancient Greece. (With the Greek version, I really can't help but notice the similarity to modern urban legends of gangsters kidnapping random people for initiation rituals.)
Many of these tropes can also be linked back to the early modern witch hunts. It was believed that witches sacrificed babies to Satan, practiced cannibalism, and put people under mind control by way of diabolical magic. It was also believed that some witches didn't even know they were witches; they'd go off to attend the Devil's Sabbath at night and come back in the morning without remembering a thing. In the late 20th century, this witch hunter's canard would be reinvented as the alter programming conspiracy theory when media such as the 1973 book Sibyl and its 1976 television adaptation put DID (note: the woman who inspired Sibyl did not have DID) into the public consciousness. For a more complete list of witch panic and blood libel tropes, I wrote a list over here.
Lemuria was a hypothetical landmass proposed to explain the presence of lemur fossils in Madagascar and India while being absent in continental Africa and the rest of Asia, because if lemurs evolved naturally, they wouldn't be in two separate places with no connection to each other. The discovery that India and Madagascar were once connected not only made the hypothesis obsolete, it precludes the existence of Lemuria.
The whole notion of Mu began with a horrendous mistranslation of the Troano manuscript. A man named Augustus Le Plongeon would link the mistranslation with the story of Atlantis, and use it to claim that Atlantis actually existed in the Americas. (For Plongeon, Mu and Atlantis were one and the same.) And then other people (like James Churchward) got their hands on the whole Mu thing, and put their own spins on it, and the rest is history.
Le Plongeon's ideas influence modern Atlantis mythology today; EG, the idea that it was in the Americas. Another guy who helped shape the modern Atlantis myth was Ignatius L. Donnelly, an American politician. Dude claimed that Atlanteans spread their oh-so-superior culture far and wide. He also claimed that Atlantis was the home of the Aryan people, because of course he did.
The idea that all of the world's wisdom can be traced back to Thoth/Hermes goes back to Hermeticism, a product of Greco-Egyptian syncretism. Hermeticism produced a fascinating body of mythology and an interesting way to consider the divine and its role in shaping human history, but that doesn't mean it was right. And the Emerald Tablets of Thoth the Atlantean is a modern text that has fuck-all to do with ancient Hermeticism and more to do with HP Lovecraft.
This idea that the conspiracy uses pharmaceutical drugs and vaccines for evil also has roots in Nazi Germany. The Nazi government, wanting to reserve real medicine for their soldiers, told the general populace that said medicine was the product of evil Jewish science and prescribed alternative healing modalities instead. (Said alternative healing modalities did not particularly work.) It also echoes the old conspiracy theories about Jews spreading the Black Death by poisoning wells.
The idea that the conspiracy uses genetic manipulation to create subhuman beings or sever humanity from the divine is a permutation of the Nazi conspiracy theory that Jews are trying to destroy the white race through race mixing. The idea of evil reptilian DNA goes back to the ancient serpent seed doctrine, which is indeed old, but no less pure hateful nonsense for it.
"But there's got to be somebody up to something rotten out there!"
Oh sure. But these people aren't skulking around in the shadows. They're acting pretty openly.
The Heritage Foundation has been working to push this country into Christofascism since the early 1970's. They're the ones responsible for the rise of the Moral Majority and the election of Ronald Reagan. They're also the ones behind Project 2025, which intends to bring us deeper into Christofascism. (Among many other horrible things, they intend to outlaw trans people as "pornographic.")
The Seven Mountains Mandate is another movement pushing for Christofascism. They intend to seize the "seven spheres" of society, which include education, religion, family, business, government/military, arts/entertainment, and media.
There's also the ghoulish American Evangelicals who support Israel because they think that current events are going to bring about the Second Coming of Jesus and cement the formation of a global Christofascist empire. Don't let their apparent support of Jews fool you - they believe that the good Jews will become Christians and the bad ones will go to hell.
All of these people are working toward monstrously horrific goals, but none of them are part of an ancient megaconspiracy. In fact, these are the kinds of people pushing the myth of the ancient megaconspiracy. From the witch hunts to Nazi Germany to the American Evangelical movement, if history has taught us anything, the people pushing the conspiracy theories are always the bad guys.

Adventures In Atlantean-Sitting
Chapter 1
Fandom: Aquaman
Pairing: Ormxfemale!Reader
Warnings: violence
Summary: Atlanteans have attacked a coastal surface city, framing Orm for the attack. In a bid to keep Orm secret and the council off his back Arthur gets the help of YN, a metahuman with tracking abilities, to track Orm and let him stay with her while they figure out the real attacker. Orm is not too pleased about having a babysitter.
Notes: here is the second fic! I hope you enjoy! This will be posted in the evenings (for me at least), comments/critiques are appreciated
Tumblr media
Traveling the US had become almost fun to Orm after the last year. He had explored national park, lakes, even got all the way to Alaska to see the northern lights. Anything that the country had to offer in nature he had done. Now he was ready to try maybe giving the less natural world a shot. That's what first led him to Coast City, shining on the California coast and one of the nicer cities in the country if the magazine Orm had read was correct. Being here he believed it. It was big, but not overwhelming, there was good food, the people were decent, and he even found a cheap place to sleep while he visited, something he didn't always have. For the first few days it was wonderful.
Then the attack happened.
Orm hadn't been exactly where it happened but he had seen the emergency vehicles, saw a green metahuman flying that way. So Orm went the opposite way. He had to keep his head down and out of trouble or else get sent back to Atlantis and that sandy prison he spent four years in. No thank you. Instead, he went back to his room, sat down and watched the news on the television. He had held no great love of the surface but seeing the destruction that was happening did not sit well with him now. Then he saw the attackers clearly. He was sure no one without enhanced eye sight would be seeing this clearly, thank Poseidon, but there were at least three Atlantean highborns with energy rays shooting randomly at buildings, creating as much smoke as they could. It was a confusing strategy. Why just make a mess? Was this some kind of warning? He knew Arthur wasn't the brightest man in the world...or even in a kindergarten class...but he had better sense than to do this. This was rogues, someone sending a message. Orm just couldn't fathom what it could be. He got up, going to the adjoined bathroom to get a drink and noticing the cup he had this morning was gone. Strange, they must replace them daily. How wasteful. He shrugged some and went back to the main room, turning off the TV and deciding on a nap instead.
"You found what at the attack site?" Arthur asked the council, looking at the documentation of evidence. Green Lantern had reported an Atlantean weapon found in some rubble, but the DNA that was on it couldn't be possible.
"The tyrant king Orm Marius's DNA was used to activate the weapon," councilwoman Yavon spoke. She looked pained at the statement. "It appears that he not only escaped his prison, but he also survived the attack against you with the Black Trident." Arthur sighed. This made no sense. Orm was in Coast City, Arthur knew that, but he had spent a year just walking around the country, being completely nonthreatening. He even seemed happy sometimes. What had changed? Arthur frowned more.
"How is his DNA even able to activate these weapons still?" he asked. The council shifted nervously, like they had hoped he wouldn't be smart enough to ask. People underestimating his intelligence would never not be annoying.
"It seems that some of the weapons' caches in that part of the ocean had not been updated to remove his ability to use them," council Horath spoke, sounding bored. Arthur glared at him.
"Are we keeping you from something councilman?" the king asked, wrapping his fingers around Atlan's trident. The councilman sat up a little straighter.
"No, your majesty, I am just glad that finally the escapee slipped up. I have been warning this council that the former king has been living, traveling the North American continent for a year now and everyone ignored my warnings. Well here you are, plan as day, seeing that he is in fact alive and now has found weapons to attack the surface with," he said. Arthur sighed. He couldn't hold off Horvath any longer. This was too much to argue with.
"Yes councilman, I see that we have gravely mistaken your warnings, what we thought was paranoia was insight into a criminal who was cunning enough to hide in plain sight. We will not make that mistake again," Arthur said. Horvath seemed satisfied, a haughty grin on his face. Another councilman, Orlan, stood up.
"Let me send my son after the king, he is a general with the battalion in that part of the ocean, Orvex will be able to find him and bring him to justice," he said. Of all the council member Orlan was the worst. He was constantly trying to undermine Arthur or wrestle just a little more power away from someone else. It was aggravating and unnerving and Arthur knew he had to be careful with the handling of this situation..
"Let us not jump to such things just yet. Sending a general to the surface with a small army may concern the people there. They might take it as an act of war and we don't need them trying to find Atlantis and drop a nuke on us Independence Day style," Arthur said, drawing blank looks from the others. God he missed his wife, Mera at least was starting to understand his references. "I know a metahuman on the surface. She has incredible power, she will be able to track down Orm and even subdue him, all without get the military involved. She lives around where the attack occurred and I'm sure she knows the area enough to know where he might be hiding. I just need the DNA evidence to take to her. She will use that to find and captured my brother." He could see Orlan seething at his son's big moment being taken away but Arthur needed to make sure that Orm didn't do this. If he did Arthur would cart his tantrum having ass back himself, but if he didn't he needed to warn his brother that someone knew he was alive. And was trying to use him to start a war with the surface.

BLOODLUST pt. 2
BLOODLUST Masterlist
Part One Part Three
"Fine. Fine." Y/N raised her hands in surrender. "But I'm only consenting to reconnaissance. We go in, collect information, and we get out."
KF and Robin exchanged giddy smiles.
Then Robin turned to Y/N, a sly gleam in his eyes. "Ready to be whelmed?"
The fire is still burning bright when the four of them arrive at Cadmus.
The fire brigade was busily attempting to put out what flames still remained, as well as trying to rescue the scientists and workers who were in the building.
"STAY PUT," a firefighter ordered through a megaphone. "WE WILL GET YOU OUT!"
That was the last thing Y/N heard them say before suddenly the ground shook with the weight of a loud explosion from within the laboratory. She saw the impact blow two of the men in lab coats out the window and into the air.
"KF, go!" she shouted, and she didn't need to tell him twice.
In a blink of an eye, Kid Flash raced towards Cadmus and ran up the steep face of the building, catching the poor scientists before they could meet an untimely demise. His momentum led him to speeding up to the roof, where he deposited the scientists before he tripped and fell.
"Shoot!" he managed to yelp, before quickly finding purchase on the windowsill. "Oh, thank god."
"It's what's-his-name!" one of the firefighters exclaimed. "Eh... Flash Boy!"
Robin snorted.
"It's KID FLASH!" KF grumbled. "Why is that so hard?"
"He's soooo smooth, isn't he?" Robin mused as he, Aqualad, and Bloodlust ran up to the building.
"Shut it, Rob," Bloodlust snarked. She grabbed her knife and sliced her palms and the soles of her feet. Then she lunged up at the side of the building. "STICK!" Her hands and feet stuck strongly to the concrete, and she began to climb up like a spider towards KF. "Hold on, buddy."
"Yep!" KF replied. "Kinda all I can do at the moment!"
In a couple seconds, Bloodlust crossed the building and arrived just before KF's grip could falter completely. She grabbed his wrist, and he clung to her arm fast, and she hauled the two of them into Cadmus through the open window.
"Must they always run ahead?" Aqualad muttered as he watched. He sighed. "We need a plan—"
But then he turned, and found Robin, too, had disappeared from his side. Instead, he saw the youngest of them all running up the fire truck ladder before grabbing onto an unused hose and using it like a rope to swing himself into the window as well.
Aqualad sighed. "Of course."
He hurried over to the fire trucks, right beside the firefighters still trying to hose down the fire.
"I need to borrow that!" he quickly warned, before he pulled his two Atlantean weapons from their sheaths and redirected the water from the hose to propel himself into the air, up to the roof, where the two scientists remained. "Step aboard. Now."
The men didn't hesitate. Aqualad landed first, as he set foot on the windowsill his friends had entered through, then lowered the scientists down the ground.
"Finally," Bloodlust called as Aqualad entered the building.
"I appreciate the help," he sarcastically replied.
"Hey, you handled it!" Robin protested, typing away at one of the computers he'd opened. "Besides. We're here to investigate. Poetic justice, remember?"
"Yeah," Y/N noted. "Investigate. KF," she added sternly, leveling the redhead with a look as he made shadow puppets using the light of Robin's screen.
"Sorry, sorry," Kid Flash mused in a very unapologetic tone. He glanced back to see Bloodlust was no longer looking, then resumed his shenanigans with a silent snicker.
"Robin," Bloodlust called, "found anything?"
"No, not much yet," the Boy Wonder replied. "Check some of the physical files and stuff, might be something there."
"Got it." She marched over to another desk and plucked the papers off of it, struggling to read the contents in the minimal light. She found notes on different DNA samples the lab had been given, most likely via ancestry tests and the like. One paper had, in bold red letters at the bottom, PATERNITY TEST NEGATIVE. Y/N set that paper aside and kept looking.
Suddenly, she heard the familiar ding! of an elevator, and frowned. She looked up to see Aqualad had gone off, and KF was following, and so she did the same.
She found the two boys standing at the mouth of a hall leading to an elevator shaft.
"There was something in the..." Aqualad muttered.
KF frowned. "Elevators should be locked down."
"Well, this one isn't," Bloodlust replied, stalking over to it. She heard Robin's footsteps as he followed. "That's suspicious. Rob, is this what I think it is?"
"This is wrong," he agreed, pulling up his holographic screen to search his archives for a confirmation. "Thought so. This is a high-speed express elevator. It doesn't belong in a two-story building!"
"Unless the building isn't just two stories," Bloodlust realized. She touched the doors and frowned. "Aqualad, you said you saw something enter the elevator?"
"Something that also doesn't belong here," he said.
He stepped up to the doors and gestured for Bloodlust to step aside. When she did, he placed his hands on the gap between the doors and pried them open with a shout.
The rest of them clambered beside him and gazed down at the elevator shaft. It stretched downwards for far longer than a supposed small-scale genetics laboratory should require.
"And that's why they need an express elevator," Robin quipped.
He pulled his grappling hook launcher out of his pocket and fired it into the ceiling of the shaft. Then he leapt into the shaft and continued to fall and fall until his line eventually came to an end at just around a floor labeled SB 25.
"I'm at the end of my rope," he muttered, a soft shock in his tone as he swung over to the door of the elevator. He quickly sidestepped until he found a decent spot to sit, then produced his screens again.
Aqualad came down next, followed by Bloodlust and then Kid Flash.
"I knew something was off with this place," Bloodlust hissed, touching the cold metal of the door again. "Not only is this an express elevator; these doors are heavily reinforced. They're probably not indestructible, but most definitely bulletproof. And I can feel it vibrating. Robin, these have tech behind them. Passcodes."
"On it," the Boy Wonder replied. "Bypassing security... there. Go."
Aqualad didn't miss a beat. He tore these doors open too, then the four of them slipped inside quickly. They found themselves, wide-eyed, in another enormous hallway. The lights were a deep red, the walls and ceiling and floor a murky black. Panel upon panel of black metal ran down the hall, giving the room a strange aura about it.
"Welcome to Project Cadmus," Robin announced.
Kid Flash wasted no time in rushing again. Aqualad tried to grab him to stop him, but the boy was far too fast. He sped ahead, only to severely underestimate his speed and fail to smoothly as he neared the end of the hall. He tripped and skidded across the floor, grunting in pain.
And then there was a thud. A heavy, scarily close weight dropping beside him, and KF opened his eyes as a strange, elephant-sized creature lifted its foot and began to lower it right over him.
Luckily, as per his powers, KF was more than fast enough to get out of the way of the herd of... creatures? As he stepped back and rejoined his friends, who were now in the hall with him, he struggled to understand what he was looking at.
The creatures were enormous. They had gravelly gray skin with strange red markings and pale underbellies and curved tusks emerging from the sides of their fanged mouths. Their eyes were a deep red and their faces seemed curved in permanent snarls. Bloodlust swore one of them met her gaze as it passed. They roared and blew steam from their nostrils, the heat so intense it was nearly disorienting.
"What are those?" Bloodlust asked in a hushed whisper, only for her eyes to then catch a glimpse of yet another anomaly. "Huh?!"
Seated in a sort of crouched position on the top of the monster was a tiny creature with beady red eyes and markings to match the bigger creature over its own cool gray skin. There were hard-looking lumps on their knees and curved appendages coming from the sides of its face. As the monsters passed, the tiny creature's horns began to glow a bright red.
Y/N's heart skipped such a long beat it might as well have stopped. There was this strange sensation in her body as she met the goblin-creature's gaze; a tingling which started at the top of her head and trickled pleasantly down to the tips of her bare toes. She was always aware of the blood in her body thanks to her metahuman powers but suddenly her understanding of it all was... heightened? Was that the right word? She was hyperaware of the beat of her heart, of the rush of her bloodflow, of the—
"BLOOD!"
Y/N jumped. "What?!"
Kid Flash was standing right next to her, his hand on her shoulder, a concerned look in his eyes.
"Are you okay?" he asked. "You sorta zoned out for a second."
"I..." Y/N took a shaky breath, then frowned. Why was her breathing so heavy now? "Sorry, I just... I don't know." She put her hand to her chest. "My heart feels like it's going supersonic right now. It... it must be the shock, I guess."
Robin didn't look convinced. "Doubtful. Are you feeling alright?"
"Yeah," Bloodlust assured him. "I'm okay. Um. What were those?"
Aqualad shook his head. "We do not know. But this is proof that Batman, Black Canary, and you were right. Cadmus is keeping far too many secrets."
"Well?" Robin prompted. "We're here now. Might as well uncover a couple more."
Y/N frowned. "Robin, I said only reconnaissance."
"C'mon!" KF protested. "Blood, we're already here. We can't exactly leave now! You can't say you're not curious."
This is a bad idea, Y/N noted. She glanced at her friends' faces, their looks of hope for her to agree with them (even in Aqualad's gaze, surprisingly). But I am intrigued by all of this. What were those things? Can we find that out? And not be caught by our mentors?
"Fine," she amended, waving KF away from her face. "Fine, fine. But if things go south, I'm calling Arrow."
"What?!" KF demanded.
"Hey, better him than Bats, right?" Y/N reminded him. "And he can help keep Canary from killing me."
"It's a deal," Robin said, cutting off Kid Flash before he could get annoyed. "If stuff hits the fan, you can call GA."
"Good." Y/N nodded. "Now. Where do we start?"
They were shocked upon opening the first vault, which really didn't bode well.
Robin found a bit of difficulty in hacking open the vault, which he was initially frustrated by.
"That's a first," he grumbled. "Hold on."
There was no need to hold on, however, because he managed to crack the code five seconds later. With a satisfying click and hiss, the vault doors slid opened.
"Okay..." Robin muttered, looking into the vault. "I am officially whelmed."
Inside the vault was column after column of cylinder-shaped semi-transparent containment chambers. Within each chamber was yet another unidentifiable organism with similar characteristics to the giants and gremlins from earlier. At the center of the room was an energy of sorts; a buzzing, bright blue ball of something, flashing rapidly as it drew power the containment chambers.
"They're... they're living batteries," Bloodlust realized.
Kid Flash marched up closer to the chambers. "This is how they hide this massive underground facility from the world! The real Cadmus isn't on the grid! It generates its own power with these... things." He placed his hands on his hips. "It must be what they're bred for."
Aqualad turned to Bloodlust. "You were right, my friend. They truly live up to the legend of their name."
Bloodlust nodded silently.
"So Cadmus creates new life," Robin noted. He marched up to the blue sphere of power, to the little control panel at the base of the structure, and connected his own monitor to the controls. "Let's find out why."
Y/N saddled up beside Robin and read his screen over his shoulder. Her eyes fell on paragraph after paragraph of scientific terminology and lab reports.
"They call them Genomorphs," Robin narrated. "Whoa! Look at the stats on these things!" He tapped on the image of the giant creatures from earlier, opening up a window with a characteristic breakdown of the organism. "Super strength, telepathy, razor claws—these things are living weapons!"
"They're engineering an army," KF muttered. "But for who?"
"Wait." Robin leaned forward and tapped on one of the files. "There's some other stuff. Project Kr and... ugh." He shook his head. "The file's triple encrypted. I can't—"
"DON'T MOVE!"
The four of them whirled around at the sudden shout, eyes wide and hands clenched into fists. Rushing towards them, a group of growling Genomorphs at his heels and shoulder, was... was that Guardian?!
"Wait!" he shouted, stopping dead in his tracks as he scanned the faces of the teenagers. Recognition flashed in his eyes. "Robin? Aqualad? Kid Flash? Bloodlust?"
"Hey, at least he got your name right," Robin teased KF before he continued trying to hack into the files.
"I know you," Aqualad spoke up. "Guardian. A hero."
"I do my best," Guardian humbly said.
"What are you doing down here?" Bloodlust demanded. "And why've you got those Genomorphs with you?"
"I'm Chief of Security," Guardian explained. "You're all trespassing. But we can call the Justice League, figure this out."
"You think the League is going to approve of you breeding weapons?!" KF fired back.
"Weapons?" Guardian questioned. "What're you... what am I..."
But he was cut off as the Genomorph on his shoulder turned to him, its horns glowing red. Y/N, too, staggered back, suddenly overcome with a strange urge; although, to do what, she was unsure.
Guardian pressed a hand to his head, groaning in discomfort. But then he opened his eyes again, a glimmer of determination in his eyes, and he looked back at the protégés. "Take them down hard! No mercy!"
Bloodlust was the first to act. She slipped her knife from its sheath and slashed at her palms, allowing the stray drops of her blood to fall.
"SMOKE!" she ordered, and her blood erupted into billowing red smoke.
Robin was quick to take advantage and produced his grappling hook launcher again. He fired it up onto the support beams overhead, then leapt up, allowing the wire to carry him to brief safety.
The Genomorphs advanced, slashing through the smoke and snarling; but their vision was obscured. Bloodlust took full control of the smoke and concentrated it around the eyes of the Genomorphs, blinding them but allowing her and her friends full visibility.
One came too close for comfort, and she lunged at the monster, letting the blood on her palms touch its skin.
"BURN!"
Instantly, the Genomorph let out a high-pitched, agonized shriek as its flesh began to burn and boil. It fell to the ground, and Y/N moved on to the next enemy combatant until she heard the electric crackling of Aqualad's weapons and followed the sound. She saw him knock down Guardian, and she ran alongside him and KF to escape the vault.
They booked it as fast as they could, staying out of reach of the Genomorphs by just a hair. Alarms began to blare, sending waves of pain through Bloodlust's head, but she kept sprinting until she found Robin, busily hacking away at the elevator. KF ran ahead, seemingly scolding him, until the elevator door opened and they rushed inside. Bloodlust quickly followed.
"You couldn't wait for us?" she panted, turning to Robin with a glare.
"You made it!" Robin grinned. "No need to complain!"
The growling of the Genomorphs grew closer, and Y/N looked up and yelped, pushing herself against the side of the elevator just in time to allow Aqualad to jump into the shaft. The doors shut behind him, trapping them inside.
"Okay, good," Bloodlust sighed. She stood and dusted herself off, then commanded her hands to heal. "Now, we leave."
But the floor level display continued to increase. They were going deeper into the sublevels.
"We're headed down?" Aqualad demanded.
"Dude!" KF turned to Robin. "Out is up!"
"Excuse me?" Robin frowned. "Project Kr? It's down, on sublevel 52."
"This is out of control," Aqualad protested. "Perhaps... perhaps we should contact the League."
"On it," Bloodlust began, but before she could reach her communications device, Robin grabbed her wrist. She leveled him with a wide-eyed glare. "Explain yourself or I will cut off your hand, Robin."
"Look, Blood, I think you're going to want to see this stuff," he implored. "Trust me."
"You promised that I could call Arrow!" Y/N reminded him. "Make good on your word!"
But then the elevator dinged open, and soon Y/N was too shocked by what she saw to even remember to call Oliver.
The hall—if it could even be called that—was strange, red, and flesh-like in appearance. Glowing blue pustule-esque structures jutted out from the wall, emanating ominous light.
"What is this place?" Bloodlust whispered.
Robin ran ahead.
"No!" Bloodlust reached for him, but he was already too far. "No, I don't like this at all, guys."
"Well, we are already here," KF tried to convince her, before quickly shutting up because Bloodlust gave him such a cold look he turned away. He elected to run after Robin.
Aqualad sighed heavily. "I will go with them. If you wish to stay back, that is your decision."
Y/N wanted to fall to her knees and kiss his feet in thanks. She hated this feeling of being here. The air was thicker, the walls looked alive, it was unnatural, unreal in all the worst ways.
But then Robin's words came back to her:
Look, Blood, I think you're going to want to see this stuff. Trust me.
"N-no." Bloodlust swallowed her nerves. "I'll come with you."
Aqualad hesitated. Then he offered her a gentle smile, and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"That is quite brave of you, my friend," he assured her.
Y/N nodded. "Thanks."

File: The Shape of Water
SCP#: ADQ
Code Name: The Underwater Couple
Object Class: Euclid/ Thaumiel
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-ADQ-Husband and SCP-ADQ-Wife are to never be separated as doing so will instigate aggravation from both. As such, they are contained as Site-AF and given both a 20x20 meter normal house with all the normal rooms, furniture, entertainment, and appliances for a house made for a married couple. Though beside the house is a 30x30 meter pool that is 40 meters deep, making it large enough for both of them to swim freely in. Both anomalies rarely leave and prefer to be left alone unless asking for help, meaning containment breach should not be a worry.
Instead, the front door of the house which is the entrance to the containment cell has been outfitted with magnetic locks to keep anyone who isn't Foundation Staff and the SCP-ADQ instances from entering. In the event of a containment breach a metal dome will retract from the walls and cover the front door ensuring both SCP-ADQ instances will be safe.
Every month the pool must be cleaned by a 6 crew Foundation staff with several Foundation cleaning pool drones. While cleaning the water the Foundation staff are to collect all the slime within the water and other bits such as dead skin and sweat from SCP-ADQ-Husband and SCP-ADQ-Wife's body. These samples are harvested for both testing purposes as well as emergency medical samples due to their anomalous properties.
Description: SCP-ADQ-Husband is an amphibious humanoid anomaly that doesn't seem to match any known species of interest. However, he does have traces of Species of Interest: Atlanteans DNA in his blood yet lacks the intelligence of the others. Furthermore, he does not resemble most common Atlanteans that the Foundation is familiar with. Whether SCP-ADQ-Husband is a mutant species of Atlantean that survived the purge of Atlantis during the First War is yet to be properly determined.
SCP-ADQ-Husband like SCP-ADQ-Wife is unable to talk verbally but is intelligent enough to understand conversation and understand the intentions of those he interacts with. He does have sharp claws and teeth for defense but what's most anomalous is his ability to heal himself and all those that he comes into physical contact with. Healing of SCP-ADQ-Husband is always with 100% accuracy and restoration of the body with 0% chance of negative effects for either SCP-ADQ-Husband or the one he has healed.
SCP-ADQ-Wife appears to be a Human-Atlantean Hybrid where her main anomalous property is that she has gills on the sides of her neck. She also possesses abnormal regenerative abilities even by Atlantean standards. However, other than that there is nothing particularly anomalous about her. In fact, the most anomalous thing about her is how easy it is to mistake her for a normal human who simply is unable to talk.
Both instances were discovered in 1962 after escaping the custody of a U.S. Government facility that imprisoned SCP-ADQ-Husband in order to use his anomalous healing abilities to assist in the Space Race. SCP-ADQ-Wife, who at the time didn't know she was a hybrid, along with a few friends saved SCP-ADQ-Husband and released him into the ocean, but not before killing the director of the project to utilize SCP-ADQ-Husband. After barely escaping SCP-ADQ-Husband healed SCP-ADQ-Wife and pulled her into the water. By doing this her anomalous properties were revealed, revealing they were able to live happily together. Though it was a short-lived moment of freedom as Mobile Task Force Gamma-6 "Deep Feeders" found them a week later.
All others involved in SCP-ADQ's original imprisonment and liberation were found. It should be noted this isn't the first time the U.S. government has kept anomalies out of Foundation custody as such those involved in his imprisonment were processed as D Class and immediately used to test the readiness of Foundation armor against Anomalies. As for those that were involved in their liberation, they were offered a position at the Foundation under Protocol “Sole Survivor”, but all refused and were instead amnestied and given Foundation compensation money.
SCP-ADQ-Husband and Wife mostly prefer to keep to themselves and though they do help heal the injured they come across they don't like socializing too much unless needed. As such the Anomalous Employment Division has agreed to leave them alone. Furthermore, it has been confirmed that now that they are together the scales, slime, sweat, and dead skin have even greater healing properties that seem to be improving as time goes on. Just the smallest bit is able to heal a person's whole body now. It is for this reason that SCP-ADQ as a whole is labeled as both Euclid due to its unknown origin and Thaumiel due to its beneficial properties.

Introdutions
Tumblr media
"Who are you?" I turn at the gravelly voice to see batman from Young Justice. This was just great. Seeing my family reach for their weapons I shake my head. No. Slowly they drop their hands but not their guard.
"Batman." I stated.
"What was wash the influx of energy?" His face is set on 'Neutral' like always.
"I'm Charlie, this is Jack, Castiel, Sam and Dean." I introduce pointing to them in turn. "Jack's Nephilim and Castiel's a Seraphim." I continued. "Sam, Dean and I are hunters." I watched as some of the YJ team stiffened. "We were after a coven of very old and powerful witches and got caught with our proverbial pants down. "
Cas shot me a look saying 'stop talking' but I shake my head. "Castiel, Jack, Sam and Dean these guys are the hero's of this world. Meet Batman, Robin, Superman, Superboy, Miss Martian, Aqua-lad and Kid flash. Robins human but trained by Batman who was trained by the league of assassins, they're kinda like the British Men Of Letters." That gains a few scowls but they are smart enough to not interrupt me. "Super-boy is Superman's clone but he's only half kryptonian. Miss Martian and Martian Manhunter are well Martian." I laugh at that. "Aqua-lad is Atlantean and Kid Flash is human but his DNA was altered due to a mix of lightning and chemicals." I finish looking at Batman.
"Charlie how do you know these... people?" Cas asked. I smile remembering the numerous hours I spent reading comics and watching movies about them before I left to help the Winchesters.
"In our world they're comic books and TV shows Cas. I looked up to them before Chuck called me to help you." I explain. "Jack can you open a door back to our world?" I ask, he did it before with the Apocalypse world.
"No. No I don't think so." I know he feels so useless. I smile at him, he cares so much for everything and everyone.
"It's ok. We'll find another way." I consol. "We are no danger to your world and will comply to answering any questions you require." Dean shoots me a look but I ignore it, we have to gain their trust.
"What are your surnames?" Batman asks in that monotone only he can use.
"Zele." I speak up.
"Winchester." The brothers speak up at the same time. Which is kinda creepy if you ask me.
"Kline." Jack replies glancing at me for confirmation he was doing the right thing, I nod my head.
"Novak-Winchester" I saw Batman raise an eyebrow behind his mask. "Angels don't have surnames, the name of vessel is Jimmy Novak and the Winchesters are my family so I made that my name." Cas stated simply.
"Hold up? Vessel?" I saw Conner ask, I shot Cas a look that said 'let me handle this.'
"An angels true form can't be seen by humans less their eyes burn out, so they need vessels to walk on earth. They can't possess them without the consent of the human and the human can kick them out at anytime. However Jimmy died years ago when Lucifer, more commonly known as Satan or the Devil blew up Cas' vessel which was re-built by Chuck who was God in our world before he became human and passed the title onto Jack." I saw the team gaping at what I just said all bar Robing, Batman and Superboy.
"So," Robin said, "you team consists of three trained humans, one angel and one god who was or is also a Nephilim?" I smiled he was so close.
"Not quite Boy Wonder, Jack isn't a god, he is God. He's still a Nephilim, biological child of Lucifer to be exact but he chose Castiel as his father and takes after his mother." I corrected, hell explaining was tiring.
"Why do all look like you've seen the world end?" Asked Superman. This was a question I'd rather not answer, we all had trauma but this was gonna open major wounds.
"Because we have. Sam's been stuck in Lucifers cage with him and Michael the Arch-angle and tortured, he also lost his soul for a time and lost all moral compass. Oh, he and Dean both lost their Mum too the prince of Hell Azazel and then they were dragged around by their ex-marine father hunting before Sam got out and went to school only to find Azazel killed his girlfriend Jessica." Sam actually had it the easiest.
"Dean has bore the Mark of Cain, been a demon, escaped Hell and been a vessel for a Michael from another world where the apocalypse wasn't stopped. Michael and his angels killed off nearly all of that world including the humans. We all went there as an attempt to stop him but when he can Lucifer got into our world Dean agreed to become his vessel to kill Lucifer but Michael took over Deans mind and made him do horrific things." I saw from there body language the hero's understood. They must've seen some shitty things too.
"Jack was hated by Heaven and hunted by angles and demons, led the effort against the war on Michael and lost people, he also had his grace stolen by Lucifer and was human for a time. Oh and though he looks like and has the mind of a 16 year old he's only 1 year old, comes with being Nephilim, they grow up as fast or slow as they like." That made a few of the hero's grimace. Guess hearing a 1 year old went through that was a surprise to say the least.
"Cas was hunted by Heaven and Hell, tortured repeatedly, fought in all versions of the apocalypse, became Lucifers vessel, fought both versions of Michael, had his grace stolen making him human, been a vessel for the leviathans, had his memories wiped, died and come back along with the rest of us and annoyed an ancient deity who control the Empty which is where angels and demons go when they die." Cas had had the hardest time out of all of us in my opinion.
"As for me I've been summoned by God, fought against the darkness with Sam, Dean and Cas, fought Amadeus who's a prince of Hell and fought in the war against Michael." I finish seeing all the hero's shell shocked even those like Batman and Robin who hid their emotions.
"Have you killed anyone?" I sighed, Superman had to ask that didn't he?
"We all have. In our there's not much choice, vampires can only be cured if they haven't fed, werewolf can't be cured, witches either bargain with demons or get power hungry and kill civilians and angels and demons both need vessels, we exorcise the demons we can but with angels and some demons we have to kill them meaning the vessel too. Then there was the time Jack lost control and killed people, we all have. Jack and Mary, Sam and Deans mother who was brought back by god's sister Amara led a effort to stop Michael which resulted in casualties." I see the look on Superman's face but the truth was the truth. "Those monsters kill people, same as every other monster in our world, sometimes we don't have a choice." I mumble the last bit as I remember pushing a knife into my brothers heart, a tear runs down my cheek.
"We need you to come with us." I hear protests coming from my family.
"We can't trust them Charlie." States Dean I glance at him then Cas and sigh.
"I'm not asking you to trust them. I'm asking you to trust me." I glance at Jack first, please trust me I pray to the Cas and Jack.
"I do trust you." Jack is the first to speak.
"Very well." Cas surrenders.
"Fine." I hear Dean groan.
"We have made a deal on less." Sam admits.
"Thankyou." I say, hopefully this doesn't bit me in the ass. "Let's go." I glance at Batman and nod.
In that second I know.
"We'll find our way home."

Note
I was promted to look up Gigi Young by your posts. Besides their incorrect views on chakral systems, just scrolling through their YouTube is rife with Atlantean and Angel heavy nonsense. Went in ready to be upset about appropriation, came out boggled by a fool.
And she's got some really creepy beliefs about biology and DNA, too.

Adventures In Atlantean-Sitting
Chapter 2
Fandom: Aquaman
Pairing: Ormxfemale!Reader
Warnings: None
Summary: Arthur tells the council he has a plan, Orm meets YN and isn't too pleased
Tumblr media
Arthur spent the next few days in Atlantis with the council, laying out exactly who this tracking metahuman was and what they could do. He explained that YN was someone who Batman had found originally. She had lived in Gotham for her whole life, in Arkham mostly, because she seemed to know too much about everyone around her. They thought she was using this power to help supervillains, however, she was not helping them willingly. Batman had gotten her out of Arkham and after she helped him track down a few of his more elusive foes he helped her get reestablished in Coast City under the eye of Green Lantern. She was able to get help controlling her power and now the Justice League called upon her if they needed help and paid for her to live just outside the city. She was trusted completely, very predictable, and she would be able to find Orm and when she did she would report back to Arthur and he would have a squad take in the exiled king. After much debate about whether an Atlantean should be with her while she did this, they council finally agreed to let the king do it his way first. Orlan, surprisingly, was on his side about this. Arthur knew it was because Orlan wanted to see him fail fantastically. He went back to the surface and contacted Orm, telling him to meet him at the edge of the woods north of the city.
Orm arrived at the meeting spot, carrying his bag. He figured Arthur was taking him somewhere new, there was an attack by Atlantean's on the city, he couldn't stay there. They might have found him and then Arthur would have a conflict with the surface world and the council in Atlantis. The man couldn't handle that kind of stress, he could barely handle tying his shoes. Orm sighed, he needed to stop thinking that Arthur was such an idiot. He had defeated Orm, had found Atlan's trident, apparently was able to run the kingdom well enough that the people at least were on his side. Arthur was not the imbecile older brother anymore, he was a good king, and a good brother who was willing to deal with Orm and his shit.
"There's my baby brother," Arthur said, moving to lift Orm by surprise, hugging him from the side and turning him around in the air. Orm struggled. Alright, Arthur was still an imbecile. "Now I need you to be completely honest with me, did you attack Coast City?" Orm was appalled.
"NO!" he said. "That attack was rudimentary, if you're going to attack a city like that, you don't just send in a small ground assault, you use the water that is right there to destroy half the city first, then you come in with a large ground assualt..." Orm stopped when he noticed Arthur holding back a laugh. His eyes narrowed. "You already knew I had nothing to do with it." He nodded.
"I did, but that insight into your brain was fascinating. You are a terrifying little man," his brother said, clapping him on the shoulder. "Come on, I got the council to agree to me finding you, not sending out an Atlantean search team," he explained as they started walking down a side dirt road into the trees.
"Why do they even think it is me?" he asked. Arthur sighed.
"They found a weapon under some rubble, the DNA attached to it was yours," he said. Orm's eyebrows shot up. He could still activate some weapons? He may need that for later. "O don't get any ideas, I already made sure to send teams out to the rest of the caches in the world, you're scrubbed from all of them now." Orm's small fledge of hope deflated. He coup attempt would have to wait. "But anyway..."
"Where are you taking me?" Orm asked now, just noticing they were just going into trees. There wasn't any town or even a bus station to take him somewhere else.
"Let me explain. Because your DNA was found the council wants to find you, they know you're alive now. I promised them I would have a specific person find you. Well, I know where you are, this person I'm taking you to is a friend of the League. She's agreed to keep track of you and to house you until the real culprit of these attacks is discovered." Orm frowned. So Arthur's grand plan to help him was to have someone babysit him? He wasn't a child. He just needed to get far enough away, maybe stay towards the inner states for awhile. The council would soon forget him again and he would be able to find someplace new to settle for awhile.
They finally exited the trees to find a small cottage surrounded by wildflowers. There was an older model car parked by the red door. The place looked a bit magical to Orm. He had just watched a movie where there was a cottage like this, it seemed like a place nothing bad could happen. Arthur walked up to the door and knocked. A woman answered and smiled big at Arthur, hugging him tight before looking to Orm and smiling. Poseidon, that smile was like sunshine. Orm immediately liked her, but hated that she was his keeper. He would be getting out of this place as soon as he could. She walked over, extending her hand to him. Orm shook it politely before pulling back. The woman smiled.
"You must be Orm, Arthur has told me about your predicament. But you have no worries here. This place is completely off the books, so no one will know you're here. Well except me, but you knew that," she said. "I'm YN, come inside." She took his bag before he could argue, and walked back into the house. Orm entered and looked around. It was small, but just enough for one, maybe two people to be comfortable. She stood in the middle of the main room. She pointed out where everything was, living area, dining table, kitchen, bathroom, and one bedroom. He frowned.
"Am I sleeping on the couch?" Orm asked. The couch looked old, and honestly, not very comfortable. Arthur nudged him hard in the side, glaring. Apparently he was being rude.
"No, I am taking the couch. I set up my room for you. I wouldn't let a king sleep in squalor," she said. Orm flushed a little at the term. Was she needling him or trying to be kind? Arthur glowered a little and Orm decided she must be being kind to him. Arthur however, could see the look YN was giving his brother. She was smitten by Orm and Arthur really wished she wasn't the only meta he knew with these powers. She might be a liability. He knew Orm would run and he needed his brother to stay put and he needed someone who could keep him here and right now that was looking less likely. Maybe he would have Lantern come by tomorrow, just to check on things. Right now he needed to leave and get back to Atlantis.
"Well, you two kids have fun, Orm, stay here and YN, please keep an eye on him," he implored. YN saluted him and smiled. Orm just sighed and nodded, pretending defeat. "Thank you." With that Arthur left and Orm and YN were left alone. YN smiled and Orm for a moment thought, maybe I'll stay.

Devour: a character from a comic I don’t like, by a writer I don’t particularly care for, and only in ten or so issues, and he’s only known by his metahuman name bc Scott don’t have time for your lore bullshit and no one else has picked him up, but between Rocafort coming back and Devour’s fairly unique backstory (he’s the only major DC character other than Dragonson who’s North Korean) and cool fucking powerset, there’s...a lot going on here.
Devour’s sort of a weird character to write about from in-universe because other than a truncated backstory involving Luthor smuggling him out of North Korea and his time with Red Hoods Outlaws/Dark Titans class, there’s...basically nothing to talk about. The Generation Outlaws were vaguely a mirror to some of the Wolfman/Perez Titans (Devour/Vic, Cloud 9/Kori, DNA/Gar, Babe-in-Arms/Raven, Vessel/Terra, and Jason obviously filling Dick’s role while Reiser completes another weird mirror pair of Red Hood/Doomsday to Batman/Superman). In the hands of a better writer or with more narrative real estate, there’s a lot of interesting stuff to be done with the group.
Anyway, I already mentioned in a text post that I went kind of overboard with other roles for Devour to fill. Since expanding “Beast Boy” to be a team with a few different characters, I can see Devour being the bio-mechanical member (there’s probably a zombie/Rot Beast Boy and an Atlantean member, but I haven’t decided.) I hadn’t expanded out Waller’s JLA too far despite bringing them up a lot, but he may or may not fill the Cyborg role before jumping ship with the rest of team once the Terra stuff goes down.
The biggest ones are probably that he eventually becomes a member of Batman Inc as a fully bio-mechanical Batman. I was on the fence about whether to retcon North Korea into Rhelasia or just have them in geographical proximity, but either way he spends a lot of time fighting Kaizen Gamorra, Cybernary, and Mitch Wacky’s Assemblers. He’s still operating by the time Terry’s taken over the role back in Gotham, since my changes to Terry’s suit and backstory actually make them pretty decent foils for each other?
tl;dr I took a bit Lobdell character and made him a bio-mechanical Xenomorph-Evangelion seinen manga version of Batman.

Lore of...
Tree Of Immortality & Desire.
Tumblr media
Ambrosia Food Of The Gods.
[Ripening still, as seen by the large golden energy lights that moves throughout the fruit, like miniature galaxies.]

[Once ripened it will fall from the tree, and have it's little lights become smaller, resembling stars or thousands of mini lights.]

Ambrosia or Nectar Of The Gods. It is a special fruit that was found near the ruins of Atlantis. This fruit grew under the sea without light or even air. It is a fruit that holds immeasurable power and dangers. This fruit has been mentioned throughout history in different forms, different names but one thing they all had in common was that it was either a food or drink of the 'Gods'. It was this fruit that was said to grant immortality or eternal youth, etc. But in truth this fruit provides the consumer with abilities beyond the imagination. It altered the stem cells of a being rearranging and reconstructing the body in way that it could accommodate the new changes to come.
This fruit was a by-product of the Atlantean's death and their superhuman experiment. After the islands sank to the bottom of the ocean, after years the experiment mixture and Atlantean DNA that sat atvthe bottom of the ocean, combined. And from this union a completely unforseen phenomenon occurred. A tree was born at first it was one, then it was many. These special trees grew under the sea near the dead corpses of the former Atlanteans, their bodies and the contents of the experimental liquids fused well in giving birth to a new species of Plantae. The fruits it beared granted the gifts of immortality and the power to manipulate, restore, create or even destroy.
Ambrosia or Nectar, is extremely fragrant. So much so, that the very smell tries to compel those who smell its scent into a trance that makes them wish to consume the fruit. The Ambrosia fruit is completely ambiguous leading to it being given many different names through the centuries as to what type of fruit it resembles. The consumption of ambrosia was typically reserved for divine beings, aka 'Gods'. Those who have consumed ambrosia, typically have ichor, not blood, in their veins. As the fruit awakens ones gifts and so the body is completely reconstructed. To better accommodate the gifts bestowed upon them. Ichor is extremely toxic to humans, killing them instantly if they came in contact with it.(blood on blood.) But some gift bearers ichor have the opposite effects, such as healing humans or even granting immortality.
The fruit cannot be consumed until ripe, and it falls from the tree... unless you wish to die. Only those with Atlantean heritage can awaken the gifts the fruit provide. If a normal human tried to consume it they would die. Once one has consumed the fruit and gained their gifts. If they consume more of the fruit there is a small possibility of enhancing their gifts. But after thousands of years the 'Gods' died out, either due to infighting or reaching the limit of their given lifespans. As such, the blood of old thinned in its Descendants. Preventing those of today with the blood to not be able to consume Ambrosia directly like their ancestors. But can be consumed in small diluted quantities.
This fruit was first rediscovered by a pair of twin Russian Marine Biologist, Arseny and Alexei Nikolaev. They first discovered the tree containing the fruit 10km away from where the ruins of Atlantis that was laid to rest.(Of course they never ventured further than the tree, thus not being the ones to discover Atlantis.) It was a unique and amazing discovery, but after they got back to their lab and tested the fruit's makeup. The discovered a unique and disturbing molecular structure the fruit consisted of. It had strands of a human branch in the evolutionary tree of homosapien DNA strands mixed with an unkown RNA who's nucleobase was beyond comprehension and logical understanding. It was a fruit that part of the Mammalia and Botanical families. Which made it similar to the Mixotroph family. But what really blew the twins mind was the fact that the fruit contained a high concentration of uranium that had been broken down on a nuclear fusion level. Yet no radiation was emitted. It was almost like cold fusion. Yet only similar as the molecular structure was completely unstable, erratic and yet balanced.
And after extensive testing it was concluded that the fruit in high concentrations would kill a normal human. But through many different blood tests from many different sources they discovered that some humans had a dormant genetic code in their stem cells that combined smoothly when fused with a diluted mixture of the fruit's sap. And from this research they discovered that if administered appropriately it could awaken the dormant genetic code and push human evolution beyond the norm.
As such from this the twins opened a company that would best distribute the fruits contents in small diluted quantities to humanity unknowingly. So human evolution could finally pick up after staying stagnant for so long.

Okay I need to write out my more specific thoughts on Aquaman Special ‘89 aka The Legend of Aquaman aka the sudden reboot of his origin that kind of drastically changed a lot of things. Because the more I think about it the more it is disappointing. Let me save y’all and block this out.
For almost everything I liked there was also a “but” involved tbh. I didn’t mind him having been stolen/exiled from Atlantis as a baby and abandoned somewhere I guess, but that was literally already Garth’s gig. The genuinely feral naked fish guy moments where he had to be literally domesticated and raised by Tom-now-Arthur(?) Curry were funny and cute:
Tumblr media
But I kind of dislike that he’s no longer related to him directly? Partially because I guess it’s just unclear to me WHY he was thrown out of Atlantis if it isn’t because he’s half human. They mentioned like “a deformity” which I thought was his ability to breathe out of water? But they were making fun of him for the way he looked so what are there no other blondes in Atlantis? In that case being needlessly outcast over a harmless physical characteristic is ALSO stealing Garth’s gig sorry. Oh yeah I think there was something about him being like Freakishly Pale to them too what is going on 💀
And as much as I thought it was sweet to see their little relationship and have the long-abandoned and lonely Arthur be raised by a genuinely loving and attentive adoptive father who gave him his human name, I kind of preferred the old story? Or at least the one rehashed in Aquaman v2. Showing his Father as someone who was loving, but also overbearing, controlling, obsessive about him training his mind and body (for literally 10+ hours every day) to become the King that he was destined to be after Atlanna died, therefore leading to the very stubborn and self-assured and independent Arthur who pushes everyone away because he thinks he should be able to do everything himself (which he can’t, leading to his emotional/temper problems and rushing into everything without thinking because he relies on brute force and ability) and having to unlearn that shit and acknowledge/get over his trauma from that upbringing, both parents deaths, and the million other bad things that happened to him was just more interesting to me. And I have NO IDEA where Orm stands in this version considering he was his full-human half-brother. I assume he’s now an Atlantean half brother since there’s no human DNA involved anymore LOL.
Which also leads me to. Discovering his heritage as a crown prince/rightful king of Atlantis and (initially) rejecting the call I don’t even need to say anything. Come on. This is Garth 101.
One other thing I DID like a lot with no caveats is the entire sequence where Arthur, with nowhere else to go, tries to return to Atlantis and ends up IMPRISONED in SOLITARY CONFINEMENT for THREE YEARS. Without having any idea why. Good god. It’s kind of excessively horrific but it’s also interesting and I just LOVE that his “Aquaman suit” is actually his fucking prison uniform from that period that he just continues to wear as a hero and as a King out of spite and irony. And it makes the internal conflict of him eventually agreeing to become the King of a nation that rejected him and left him for dead and put him through multiple years of torture in prison (under a horrible dictatorship I guess) more interesting than when he was just the king all along but not that great at it.
That’s all I guess there’s probably more but I said enough and Garth was only mentioned at the very end and called his “friend” so I lose or whatever. I’m honestly just mad cause I loved the ending of Aquaman v2 so much and I KNEW it was going to get overwritten but I didn’t think it would be THAT FAST DAMN...
