AWWW hi Astra, thank you!!

Hmm I feel like a lot of times as of late, I'm already a bit unsatisfied with my works as soon as I've finished them. It's a good thing because it means I'm learning, but not the best feeling anyway. I think it's an important skill as an artist to learn to love your works even if you see flaws with them, because there's always some element to appreciate, and creation in itself is beautiful. Here's some things from this blog that I still like:

Of course I have to put my comic here. I'm not too happy with a lot of the art in it to be completely honest, but I know that I worked very hard on it, and it was a big step for me to put something so personal out for others to see for the first time. I'm generally very private about my identity, so I was very nervous to broadcast something that talked so directly about that subject, even if it was actually about Delilah's story. (I've never tried to hide the fact that I put a lot of myself into Delilah lol) I still go back and reread the feedback I got on that comic sometimes because it makes me so happy to see others connecting with and feeling "seen" by my work. I never expected so much kindness. I think the reception of this comic is stored forever in my brain like one of the Core Memories from Inside Out. Thank you so much to everyone who left me feedback of any kind on that work, because I'm sure it means more to me than you really expected.

This is from very early in my blog when I first met @/thebigolbee and I worked SO hard on it because I felt so lucky that such a great and popular artist like Bee was doing an art trade with me! 😭😭 About nine months later I think we draw each other's OCS about as much as we draw our own- so I guess it worked out lol! I spent a long time on the line art for this one and I think it turned out really nice :)

I'm very proud of the background in this drawing, and I think the characters came out cute as well even though they're just a doodle. I get lazy with backgrounds most of the time so it was a good exercise. It was fun to work on!!!

This was a drawing I did when I was really struggling with art, I tried to loosen up (the hardest thing ever for me lol) and just go with the flow and honestly, even though it's nothing too special I still just really enjoy something about it!!! It's fun I think! (I have to draw Delilah during that period of their life more...)

ACK. This Frankenstein drawing that I picked at for so long and eventually just didn't finish the background for. I really love the characters and the mood of the piece, even though i intended to add much more detail to the room they're in. I think sometimes it's ok to leave things "unfinished" instead of just agonizing over it and never letting it see the light of day.

Valentine's drawing. It really surprised me how this became one of my most popular posts because I didn't really expect anyone to notice it!!! I drew it 1000% for myself, because happy sparkly characters being happy together are my favorite to draw. But apparently everyone else also likes that! A good lesson. (Maybe it was just bc everyone loves Ms. Rae Jepsen's musical stylings as much as me...)

I'm really proud of all the art that I did for high fantasy au, but this one especially because I worked very hard with my markers and I feel like it came out well!! I'm really awful at utilizing color in an interesting way-- I get nervous about ruining stuff by adding the wrong color the wrong place, but I think I did really well this time!!

I think that's enough!! It was really nice to look back at all my old works - I was actually surprised by how many things I still like despite their age!!! I do feel very positive after writing this post, so thank you for sending this along to me Astra!! :] I encourage everyone to do this, really go through your works and think about what you've learned from each one and why it's still nice!!

Lua and Luna are twin sisters and Guardians of the Twins Super Wings Astra and Astro. ci specialists in technology and science.

The sisters were looking forward to the meteor shower that was scheduled for that night. Both were preparing the garden of the Mi-rae palace to watch from the best possible angle.

- Did you get the sleeping bags little Sister? - asked Lua to Luna

- Are here little sister - Luna said bringing the sleeping bags rolled up

- Picnic basket? - asked Lua

- It's here too! - said Luna

- The angle is perfect, we won't miss the meteor shower this year - said Lua - I called Astra who will certainly bring Astro with her luggage

- Don't talk about my Super Wing like that! - Luna said irritated

- Ok I'm sorry Luna - said Lua - Atchim! Atchim!

- Health Lua - said Luna - You are ok Lua?

- I've never been so fine - replied Lua - Nothing to worry my sister

- let's finish packing everything before the twins get here - said Luna

- Luna is right - said Lua

World Airport

- Astro come soon! - Said Astra - Our guardians are waiting for us and you are still delaying us

- Calm down Astra - said Astro - It's not even dark yet for you to be in such a hurry

- This meteor shower is going to be awesome! - said Astra - The twins must be anxious too, and science too

- True, studies say that this meteor shower is the rarest of all! - said Astro - It will be great to study about it be

- let's go the girls needed us - said Astra - Did you get the telescope?

- This one! - said Astro - I shrunk it with the radius modifier

- You did well little brother - said Astra - My intuition tells me that I need to bring a first aid kit

- Better take it - said Astro - In case someone gets sick

Mi-rae Palace

Astra and Astro arrived at the place to watch the meteor shower together with their guardians. Lua and Luna greeted them at the entrance of Mi-rae Palace

- Astra, Astro, I'm glad you came! - said Lua

- come this way - said Luna

The garden was beautiful, a checkered cloth with several pillows was placed. The picnic basket was closed to keep flies out of the food, the sleeping bags were open and ready. Astra and Astro put the telescope to work and when it was almost time for the meteor shower to start, something happened to Lua

- Atchim! Atchim! - sneezed and sniffled Lua

- I knew it! - said Astra - My intuition does not fail!

- Lua you caught a cold? - asked Luna - That's why you were weird this morning

- Oh sorry guys - said Lua - I'm not feeling well, but I don't want to miss the meteor shower, Atchim!

- I brought a thermometer - said Astra - open your mouth Lua

After Astra took her guardian's temperature she gave the diagnosis

- Lua I have bad news - said Astra - You are burning with fever

- I can watch the rain? - asked Lua to Astra

- I don't think so Lua - said Astra - I'll call Doctor Luphie to get you out of here.

- Too bad my sister - said Luna - I didn't want you to miss it

Lua I was crying a lot

- don't cry dear - said Astra - you better get better to watch other metrot showers

- Hang on! - said Luna - I had an idea for Lua watch the meteor shower!

- What's the suggestion? - asked Astra

- The Astronomy Tower! - said Luna - there's a telescope there so she doesn't have contact with united time and doesn't lose sight!

- good idea Luna - said Astro - So no one is left without seeing this show!

- Lua let's do some exams - said Dr. Luphie arriving in the garden - The rain will take a while to start

- I'll go with you - said Astra - after all, I must take care of my guardian

- Thank you Astra - said Lua - Atchim!

- Let's go baby - said Dr. Luphie

- you really have a cold - the doctor said - Needs plenty of fluids and absolute rest

- All right - said Lua - Can I receive visitors?

- You can, but with a certain distance with the guardians, Super Wings don't catch our cold - said Dr. Luphie

Book Review: Umbra by Rae Else

It's a "just one more chapter!" kind of book!

I have to start this review off by saying, I adore this book, I adore this series, I adore Jess, and I especially adore Rae Else's writing style. The way she weaves a story and draws me in is something I've not encountered from an author in a really long time, and the more books I read from her the higher she climbs on my favourite author list.

Having said that, Umbra left me torn. Not in a bad way, not at all, but this installment of the series pulled my heart in half a dozen directions and left it a little battered, much like Jess.

Umbra also felt like a very short book. It's actually not, but I devoured it so fast, in one sitting, that I finished and instantly wanted more.

All of these are good things for the book, and bad things for me as the reader! I want to wrap Jess in a hug after the trials she's gone through in Umbra, and that's also part of the problem with the illusion of this book not having enough content. By the end of Umbra, Jess is battered, bruised, and left a little adrift, even while surrounded by her friends, and I want to know how she overcomes the fallout from the challenges she faced in this book.

I, basically, want the final book in the series now. Very impatient and ungenerous of me, but as with Luna and Nox, the author has left me simultaneously satisfied and craving more.

It was wonderful to see Astra again! I missed her in Nox, and Theo's development from Luna to now is shocking in all the best ways. Rune's transformation is the most startling, and yet even as you read about the changes he goes through it feels right for his character. And we see more of Matteo, and I can't put into words how much more of him I hope to see in the final installment of this series!

All in all, another absolutely fantastic addition to this addictive series. Thank you to Rae Else for providing me with a free copy of this book. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I just wanted to humbly ask if you perhaps, by chance, have any recommendations for some heartwrenching, soul crashing, life altering, unhinged, fucked up fics? Any or all of those descriptors. I don’t care what ship! (As long as it’s queer in some way) Or really even what fandom! I am just. Starved. Have you ever had a computer virus before? Yeah, back in the day a couple times. Are you dependent upon anyone? I’m dependent on my family for like everything right now, especially my mom. And the nurses while I’m here in the hospital. Are there any book characters you'd like to portray? I like the main characters from the different book series I’m reading, such as Emma Griffin, Blake Wilder, Eva Rae Thomas, Autumn Trent, Winter Black, Astra, Belamy, and Ellie Kline. Who did you last text? My mom. Is there anything on your bed right now? Yeah, a tote bag with my coloring stuff, a teddy bear, and lots of pillows.

When was the last time you went to the grocery store? A few months ago. What way would you like to die when it's your time? I don’t like thinking about that. What are you most afraid of in the world? These past few years have been a LOT to say the least. Living in a time of COVID and now monkey pox... it’s scary. Have you ever been caving? No. Do you do well in math related things? Nooo. I always really struggled with math. What is your favorite fruit? Bananas. If you had to choose, which sibling would you live with? My younger brother. Do you have any tattoos? No. Are you planning on getting any in the near future? No, I’m too big of a baby. When was your last date? Like 5 years ago. When did you get Facebook? Back in 2008. Are any of your family members in jail? Yes, an uncle. What was your first pet's name? Buster. Are you good when it comes to computer issues? Somewhat. I do suffer from depression. As is now, currently. Ongoing. Do you think you're a clingy person? No. Have you ever been in a physical fight before? No. How often would you say you disagree with your parents? Not often, but we have disagreements and bickering now and then. What color shirt did you wear yesterday? I’ve only been able to wear the blue hospital gown the past few months. Do you have a job? No. If so, do you like it? -- Have you ever been called a slut before? Only jokingly. What's something you've been craving? Omg, so many different foods and drinks. I haven’t been able to have actual food or drinks, just feeding tube supplements, for almost 3 months now and I’ve been going crazy. Everything sounds so good. Have you ever slept with your window open? Yeah. Can you play violin? No. I took lessons in 4th grade and I wasn’t vibin’ with it at all. What was the last desert you had? I’ve never had a desert, but the last dessert I had was a cookie. I want a milkshake so bad. Have you ever had a wild animal as a pet? No. Do you know anyone you talk to on Facebook but won't talk to in person? Not that I wouldn’t talk to them in person, I just don’t see them. What color are your mother's eyes? Brown. Do you have a best friend? Yes, my mom. If so, how long have you been best friends? My whole life, 33 years and counting. Do you cry easily? Yes. It doesn’t seem to take much anymore. I just start crying. Have you ever been into a court room? No. How many necklaces would you say you own? I don’t know, but I have several. Do you plan on being strict towards your children? I don’t want kids. Do you own any tie-dye shirts? I own a few. I like the look. What would you say is your favorite day of the week? I don’t have one. Do you ever wear lipstick? Nah. Do you own a pool? I do not. Do you have a Tumblr account? Apparently so. Would you say you're overweight? No, I’m severely underweight. How many colors are in your hair? Just one, my natural dark brown hair. Do you flirt with a lot of people? No. Have you ever been falsely accused of starting drama? No. How old are you? I just turned 33. Do you attend church regularly? Via live stream, yes. When I’m able I’d like to start going in person. Have you ever found a song that describes your whole life? I’ve felt that way with some songs and lyrics. What time did you wake up this morning? I kept waking up off and on and then stayed up when I got up at 8 until I feel asleep again at 9 for about an hour. What time do you plan on waking up tomorrow morning? I don’t plan to, but I tend to wake up around 7 or 8. What kind of car do you drive? I don’t drive. What kind of car would you like to have? I’d probably get a Honda if I ever learn to drive and get a car cause that’s what my family has and likes. Have you ever been to Dairy Queen? Not since I was a kid. I’ve seen so many commercials recently, though, that make me want to go. If so, what's your favorite thing to eat from there? Their milkshakes look bomb and they also have chicken strips with country gravy that I want to try. How old did you turn on your last birthday? 33. Ever felt like falling apart? Too often I feel like that. I feel like I already have. Have you ever been in an ambulance? Yes. Do you tend to worry a lot? Only all the time. How old were you when you lost your first tooth? Like 5 or 6. Do you remember your first time on the internet? Not the very first time or what I did exactly, but I know I was like 8 or 9. Which website do you email from? Yahoo. Do you enjoy receiving souvenirs? I do. I like buying them, too. Do you get angry with people easily? No. Have you ever had the flu? Yes. What about strep throat? Yes. What would you say is the worst kind of emotional pain? Losing a loved one. Have you ever been to a psychologist? No. What's the worst part about school? I just got so easily overwhelmed, stressed, and burnt out. Do you normally have a lot of homework, if you're still in school? I’m done with school. When was your last vacation? Back in March. Would you ever consider going on a cruise? It sounds kind of fun, but the idea of being completely out in the middle of the ocean for someone who can’t swim is terrifying. I also get motion sickness. What did you last buy from the store? Food. Would you say you enjoy being single or in a relationship more? I haven’t truly experienced a relationship, but I’m very familiar with the single life. I honestly feel like it’s best for me to be single while I’m dealing with all this crap and I’m fine with that. I’m not looking for or even want a relationship to be honest. Not right now at least. It’s just not something I’m even thinking about. Do you try to stay busy a lot? I have my few things I do to distract and give me something to do, otherwise I’d really lose my mind. For the past few years it’s been a real struggle, but I’m completely bedridden as of now, so it’s especially hard. What's your favorite quote? I have so many. Do you lie a lot? No, but I downplay or sometimes leave some things out. Do you still act childish most of the time? I’m childlike with some of my interests, but I’m not childish. That’s different. Did you ever enjoy gym class? No, I hated it. What is your biggest insecurity? Everything. And right now I’m really looking rough. But it’s beyond my appearance, too, it’s me in general. Have you ever painted a room alone? No. I’ve never painted a room, period. Speaking of which, when did you last paint your room? -- What does your favorite jacket / hoodie look like? It’s black and soft and warm. It’s called a teddy bear coat. What's for dinner tonight? The usual feeding tube supplements. Do you ever drink alcohol? No, I haven’t had any in almost a decade now. Not my thing. Have you ever had a terrible hangover? Yes. Do you ever get migraines? No. Do you know how to garden? No. I don’t have any interest in it. Is there anyone out there who makes you feel completely useless? I just feel that way because of my situation. Like I’ve mentioned, I’m completely bedridden and dependent. I can’t do anything. I also have no idea what I want to do in life. I don’t feel like I have anything useful to offer. Do you like texting or calling people more? Texting. What's your favorite band? Linkin Park. Do you have a lot of friends? I don’t have any friends. Have you ever painted something and been impressed by it? No. Would you rather go out to eat or stay in? Stay in with takeout. When did you last babysit, if ever? Not since my brother and a couple of my cousins were little. They’re in their early 20s now, so it’s been awhile. Do you have any younger siblings? I want to go home and be able to eat normally again for starters. I hope to be able to take trips and do things like go to the movies, but that could be further down the road. I just like I said want to go home and be able to eat. Can you count to ten in another language other than your own? Yeah, in Spanish. Do you own a lot of shoes? I own a few pairs. What is your favorite season and why? Fall and winter. I love the weather, the holidays, the scents, the colors, the attire, the food, the coziness of it all... just everything. Have you ever played on a sports team before? No. If you have, what was that sport and when? -- Have you ever filed a lawsuit on someone? No. Do you think you're a good singer? I definitely am not. Would you rather wear jeans or sweatpants? Sweats out of the two, but what I’d really prefer are leggings. Do you think you have a good sense of style? It’s good for me. Do you enjoy reading often? Yes. Have you ever had a deadly illness? Yes. Ever had food-poisoning before? Yes. Where did you last eat dinner at? I don’t remember where I went the last time I went out for dinner, it’s been awhile. Have you ever shot a gun before? Once. I went to a shooting range with some friends and tried it.
