As I near the end of Syndicate, I am reminded about our exchange about Starrick. So here goes: Desmond is not... As "lucky" as he usually is in our post-Temple scenarios. Instead of waking up somewhere discreet, he is thrown, unconscious, somewhere where Lucy Thorne takes notice. And so, Desmond is brought to Starrick's attention. When he wakes up, he is in a nice bed, in refined looking manor. And so begins Starrick's play at being the good guy 1/2

2/2 Desmond is taken care of. His Hidden Blade is not taken away - on the contrary, when he asks about the things that were found with him, Desmond is given them all back. He gets some good medical care. The manor servants are complimentary about their boss. And then - when Desmond eventually starts snooping and venturing out... The information he has waved his way about the Rooks is not complimentary. And so... He slowly starts leaning to Starrick's opinions.

Okay, okay, this works sooo well with our previous idea of how easy would it be for Desmond to be a Templar but before we continue: this is not meant to be Frye twin-bashing. This is more on the side of "when looked from the outside without any ideas of who the Frye twins are and what they're going thru, it's really easy to paint them in a very bad light" and we're going to make use of that.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it is soooo easy for Starrick to pit Desmond against the Frye twins, especially if we set this after Jacob assassinates Twopenny which later led to inflation and riots.

Maybe Desmond even sees Starrick talking about how he raised the salary of his employees and how he would have supported all of London if he could (again, let’s remember that in canon, Starrick said this to Brudenell alone without any audience presence so this isn’t Starrick trying to get into Desmond’s good sides even if he knew Desmond was snooping around, this is Starrick being Starrick). Without the proper context that Desmond wouldn’t exactly have at the moment, Starrick and Brudenell’s conversation (including Starrick threatening to castrate Brudenell) could be taken as a powerful man chained by politics and selfish politicians.

I mean…

Just read the transcript and see how easy it is for Starrick to pain the Disraeli and even Brudenell in a bad light:

Cardigan: The currency a laughing stock. Inflation out of control! Twopenny brutally murdered! Starrick: And yet, Parliament does nothing! Cardigan: The bill will be defeated, sir. That buffoon Disraeli shall be taken care of. It has been arranged, upon my honor. Starrick: Your honor carries little weight. Cardigan: How dare you, sir?! Starrick: The poor people of this city have suffered enough. Today, I granted a significant rise to my staff in order to counter inflation. Cardigan: What? Starrick: I would supply all of London if I could. Starrick: Meanwhile, you sit in your club and wax poetic with promises your honor cannot pay. Your family's fortune, however... I wonder what they would offer to keep your record out of the newspapers. About the same as Disraeli would offer for your balls, I'd wager. But let's be generous. Why limit ourselves to one or the other, when we can have it all? What say you, sir, shall I come collect? Starrick: No more dallying. The halls of Parliament must be free to govern, again! Understood? You may see yourself out.

And Starrick would be polite to him, wouldn’t pry him of his past. Even Lucy Thorne would be polite (when she was still alive), most probably ordered to.

And then Starrick would ask the question all of the Templars had been curious about.

“Are you, perhaps, a member of House Kenway, Desmond?”

And that’s how Desmond would find out that Starrick and the others thought he was perhaps a descendant of Haytham Kenway or maybe even Jennifer Scott.

“And what if I am?” Desmond asked back, wondering if they would talk about how Ratonhnhaké:ton and his descendants were Assassins.

“We owe a lot to the Kenway family.” Starrick explained calmly, “Even if you…”

Starrick glanced at Desmond’s left arm… no… he had glanced at Desmond’s hidden blade.

“… you do not hold the same ideology as we do, we will still give you the respect a member of House Kenway deserves.”

Desmond watched as Starrick placed a key on the table between them, “This is the only copy we have of the Kenway manor. It is only right that it is returned to a member of the family, wouldn’t you agree?”

Desmond kept his attention on Starrick as he took the key. Starrick sighed as he added, “It is my duty to inform you that it has been… well… it’s not in its best condition right now.”

“A few intruders did not have any manners.” Starrick said vaguely, “And left quite… a trail.”

And what trail did Desmond find in the Kenway mansion?

The trails left by Evie and Jayadeep.

And you might be thinking “What about Lucy Thorne and her goons?”

Well…

It was a stealth mission which meant that there was a high possibility that Evie and Jayadeep kept the body count to a minimum and we have a cutscene confirmation that some of them were wearing Blighters outfit. (although the ones you see in the manor itself had Templar armbands and those are the ones Evie can take down)

… So… what’s to say that Desmond’s tracking wouldn’t lead to a few ex-Blighters now wearing the coat of a Rook?

Jacob’s Rooks do have ex-Blighters in their ranks so it’s possible that some of the Blighters in that cutscene became Rooks later on.

And then…

He is told by one of Starrick’s men how the Assassin Jacob Frye joined the crime boss Maxwell Roth in burning down warehouses that had children inside.

And Desmond realized…

The Assassins here in London must be stopped.

The bell ringings, you and Jacob gave each one more kiss before walking to go to class. You take your set sitting next to Caroline,Edward girlfriend. You enjoy her company and y'all talk a lot just so class can go by quickly "hey Caroline, how are you?" You smile at her "I'm good,but are you going to the dinner date with all the other girls?" Shaking your head no "Haha no I wish but I don't really have a date to go with" giving her a awkward smile that you're still single "Aw that's right, you really need to get with someone it's just sad yn" you laughed and shaked your head "yeah I know, but I'll find someone at some point" you said as you grab a paper that you need to give to a teacher before you forget to turn it in "ohh I forgot mine at home, when is the paper due?" She said looking little bit nerves "Uh I think tomorrow, so you should have time to get the paper in" getting up from your set and turning the paper in the ben you walk back to your set taking your phone out and texting Jacob

In the hallway putting your english language book in your locker, Sofia and Elise run up to you "was there a point into y'all running to me like there was a fight?" You ask rolling your eyes playfully "No but are you busy for lunch?"quickly you made up a lie "Yes, I'm going to the library to get ready for a test" you smile "See I told you Sofia" Elise rolls her eyes "what can I not get ready for a test?" You asked as you close your locker walking to your next class and they walk with you "you can, but can I study with you?" Sofia asked and you quickly try to come up with another excuse "Sofia I need to focus on this test it's really important to me I'm sorry but maybe next time" you walks off into your class "They are definitely hiding something we aren't seeing Sofia" Elise says looking at Sofia "I kinda thought so, I mean they always enjoy when I study with them I'm like there study buddy" Sofia said a little sad "yeah you are.. Hm maybe we should watch yn a little bit more careful now" Sofia looks at her with a small idea "we could spy on her" Elisa gave her that smile "Oh so we are spying on other people now?" Avaline came up behind the two other girls giving them a little scary "holy shit Avaline you can't just do that to us" Elise said pushing her a little Avaline just laughs, Sofia just shakes her head as she looks at her phone receiving a text from her boyfriend Ezio "How does Claudia feel about your dating her brother?" Avaline asked "oh she doesn't mind she only cares if Ezio treats me right" she smiles "Kinda though so"

In the boys locker room

"Damnn that's right your single as fuck"Ezil laughs "Shut the hell up Ezio" Jacob said as he rolles his eyes yeah everyone thinks that he's single even though he's not, its secret that he's dating you. His sister Evie Frye made everyone in the friend group to not hook up with her brother and everyone agreed Claudia tried to do the same but that didn't work, Sofia got to her brother before Claudia could put that rule down. "Chill Jacob I'm just saying, you need to get a girlfriend at some point" Ezio snickered as he's was putting his gym clothes on "I don't need one, I'm to focused on school" the whole locker room goes quite until Arno speaks up "I'm sorry, what? You focus on school your the definition of fuck this school,and oh sorry I don't understand school and I don't need too" everyone start to laugh at the comment that Anro made "it's ok Jacob someone with come around" Henry says to Jacob as he walks out of the locker room and too the gym. Jacob just filled with angry he tries to push it away for now and puts his gym clothes on walking out of the locker room to the gym

After athletic and back in the locker room

"Yk I could hook you up with someone from another school if you interested" Altair says to him and Jacob just shrugs "I'm with someone already, I just don't talk about them that much" folding his gym cloths and putting them in his locker "UH SINCE WHEN?" Ezio looks to Arno "WHO?!" Arno and Ezio says in pure shook "yall don't need to know that part" Jacob says as he walks out of the locker room pissed off enough with them. He pulls out his phone and looks at the picture between you and him "I wonder if I could get one of those picture of us" he says to himself as he waits for the bell to right "You think we piss him off?" Arno asked Ezio watching him do his hair "nah he's a pussy sometimes, he'll be fine"

ᨏᨐᨓ time skip to lunchᨓᨐᨏ

Waiting where you normally with for Jacob to pick you up in his car, looking at your phone Jacob pulls up "hey beautiful" he gets out of the car and walks to the passenger side kissing your cheek and opening the door "aw thank you baby" you get in and he walks back over getting in and driving off to get lunch "you know some of the girls are getting suspicious of me"

Evie then starts to walk around his room "get out of my room Evie" the younger twin say's as the older one continues walk around his room "I'm just asking a simple question dear brother"

"Yeah and I'm saying to get out of my room dear sister" she only scoffed at that request as she picks up his phone "if your not hiding anything can I go through your phone" looking down at her brother as he's sitting on the floor in front of you, you slowly start to panic "no because that's a evasion of privacy dear sister" Jacob gets up and snatches the phone out of the older twins hand "you are hiding something Jacob, I will find out so be careful" Evie walks out of his room and Jacob close the door and locks it with you getting out from under the bed "we are so screwed when she finds out" putting your pants on as Jacob looks at you "yeah we are"

cold to the touch

Based off some AMAZING vampire!Haytham art from the ever-talented @wyyvernn , I wrote a couple of headcanons and a one-shot for the Templar

Despite the vampiric and secretive nature of being a Templar, Haytham cares immensely for you. Slightly over-protective to a degree.

If he ever lives a few centuries, the memories of you still remain with him. But it haunts him, perhaps if he was passing by someone and they have features that’s reminiscent of you.

Summary: You knew this life could be cruel, but it was also unexpected that one such as him would be a part of it.

You were too young to remember, but you had lost those who were close in the earthquake. When you came of age into the world, there were few you could call your own.

And it left you embittered. Life dealt you a cruel hand in taking the rest of those close to you, and you entered the world an adult with none.

It was completely unexpected for you to become a Templar, but there was nowhere or no one left to turn to in your life. Yet in this moment, that short life flashed before your eyes in mere seconds.

The candles aligned on the desk eerily filled his face. Dark shadows across the sharp features and fangs that ever so protruded from the corners of his mouth. Him, the mysterious leader of the order. It was striking, compelling, but you kept face in the presence of one who plagued all the cautionary tales you heard in your younger years.

Unbeknownst to you, Haytham was waiting for a reaction from you. Most who saw his supernatural nature cowered or looked for the nearest exit.

There was no sign of that in your expressions as you recited back the Oath to him, swearing fealty to the cause.

Given that you knew how to survive and where to look or go, Haytham took a liking to the knowledge you provided. Of course reconnaissance took place right as dusk set in. It must have been an odd sight to see yourself trailed by an imposing cloaked figure.

Though it was a professional union, Haytham respected your skill. Maybe a twinge of pity for you, but he would never admit it out loud let alone to himself.

Still, he enjoyed your conversations even if they derailed into learning more about you. Favorite foods, color, even down to the most mundane details you didn’t pay much attention.

Was it boredom or just a fascination with the one who less afraid than most?

It clenched at your heart to have one take somewhat of an interest in you. There was never a definitive moment you recall such a time, but there was more to it. Thoughts that clawed relentlessly at your mind.

There’s a sadness to you, Haytham. You may not see it or admit to it, but it’s in your eyes when you talk.

I can feel it in any room, like a cold spot that draws everyone’s attention. As much as I enjoy our talks, I worry that there will be a day when we won’t be able to have them.

And I could never wish that sense of false hope onto anyone, let alone you.

Vampire!Haytham Kenway Headcanons

A/n: Art by me, It's not halloween but enjoy :) Cw: Some possessive themes Gender neutral S/O included Part 2 (NSFW) is here

- If you thought human Haytham was powerful, his vampire senses are far superior. He's able to hear the slightest noise from miles away, his eagle vision is now enhanced, able to pick up on the littlest detail and rest assured he never misses a single one. Sneaking up on him from behind has become impossible, still his S/O does it all the time while he merely pretends not to notice. (It's adorable seeing their proud expression.)

- Although, he has all these lovely strengths and abilities, his weaknesses are also an inconvenience. Going outside when the sun is shining is pretty much a death sentence, still it's easier for him to travel the cities at night with everyone in their homes. He feels his emotions deeper thus his temper can snap more quickly (though, he's learned to keep it under control in most situations). Having an S/O has brought out a more protective and vulnerable side which may or may not interfere with the Order.

- If his S/O is oblivious about what he is, he keeps it a secret from them. Partly because he's afraid they might run from him when they realise, but also because he doesn't want them to become tangled up in his dangerous matters.

- But surprise, surprise! They find out that he's a vampire and they don't even care. Well actually, they were startled at first, every bone in their body screaming at them to run and yet, they know that Haytham could have hurt or killed them at ANY point in their relationship but he didn't. Haytham doesn't show it, but when his S/O takes his cold hands in acceptance, relief and happiness fills his heart.

- On another note, if his S/O already knows what he is, there are multiple subtle jokes exchanged between them, jokes that only both of them understand regardless if his S/O is a vampire or not too.

- As for blood, he would scour the streets at night, looking for some unlucky soul to hunt on their way back home from a tavern. If he's hungry, he's not picky about it (animal blood or human) but he would usually value quality over the only thing that's available.

- If his S/O offers their blood, he's clenching dents into his hand, trying not to jump their neck at the suggestion. He would rather not feed from his S/O, he doesn't know if he has the will to control himself to stop and he certainly doesn't want to suck them dry. But if his S/O is persistent, fingers pulling down their collar line to expose silky soft flesh - he can't refuse. It becomes an intimate act, both of them embraced together, his fangs buried in their neck and everything feels so hot and suffocating, his S/O is trying not to fall but if he was wasn't holding them, they'd collapse right away. Eventually he finds the strength to stop and he feels invigorated from their blood, more than he's ever been. He would make sure that his S/O is well hydrated and fed very nutritious foods after they've had a rest to regain their strength.

- With is S/O, he may become slightly possessive around them. He wants to blame it on his vampirism, and partly does but he also thinks that it's no excuse to keep them cooped up at his headquarters. He feels much better when they're by his side, safe and protected. If someone hurts them, heads will roll.

In a similar vein, Agaté is a dark parallel to Achilles Davenport:

-Both are men from African origin who served as the mentors of their respective branches of the Brotherhood (which have been nigh exterminated due to the Templars' actions), serving as the more cynical and world weary tutors for their more idealistic disciples, whom they try to reign in their brashness. Both also lost their love interests due to tragedy (in Agaté's case is more metaphorical due to his commitment to the Assassins).

-Achilles started out as a bitter, cynical and sour man who refused to see anyone, believing himself a failure until he met Connor. Connor's idealism rubbed off on him to the point Achilles warmed up to him, even seeing him as a surrogate son and finally accepting that while the past can't be changed, he can help to build a better future, eventually dying peacefully.

-Agaté started out as a warm and welcoming man towards Aveline, even seeing her as the daughter he couldn't have with Jeanne, until Aveline disobeys his orders. From now there, he begins resenting Aveline and succumbing to paranoia and self-doubt, revealing himself as a man who was obsessed with recreating the past and when given a chance to right his wrong, he chose to kill himself in order to avoid the consequences of his actions.

-Agaté represents what Achilles could have become if he never met Connor.

And to elaborate on these tags I left in the og ask:

So, in this setup, the entirety of AC lore would be condensed into one world like Radiant Garden/Hollow Bastion did with the FF characters.

Sora, Donald, and Goofy will travel to this world while they’re looking for their next plot piece (or maybe their gummi ship needs to be repaired) and their interest is piqued when they notice that there seems to be some kind of organization (with hoods!) that defeats both heartless and nobodies with minimal problem.

When they get to the castle, they learn that Prince Desmond (who is a very chilled guy and clicks with Sora, Donald, and Goofy quickly) has been tasked in awakening the three great heroes of their world to ask for their aid as they have learned where the heartless and nobodies are coming from but it’s taking all of their manpower just to keep the castle and nearby towns safe.

So they go on a quest to request the aid fo these three heroes who, according to legend, could only be awakened by the prayer of one with royal blood.

Along the way, they get into some trouble.

The protector of the first hero, Altaïr, turns out to be colluding with the heartless and nobodies to control the people of the fortress where he laid asleep underneath.

The family in charge of keeping the second hero, Ezio, safe was busy trying to keep some asshole from invading their walled town using the heartless and nobodies.

And the location of the third hero, Ratonhnhaké:ton, had become lost and all they know is the general location. Supposedly, the people in charge of keeping him safe had been forced out of their homes by monsters (“Not heartless?” “No. Simply the worst monsters of all.”)

Every time Desmond tries to wake them up, they don’t wake up, instead becoming dust with their heart entering Desmond. Many believe this is a sign that Desmond is meant to be the hero but Desmond believes that he’s failing his task (no matter how much Sora, Donald, and Goofy try to console him).

Everything comes to a head when one of Org XIII takes Desmond captive and does an infodump on them about how Desmond is one of the new Seven Hearts but his heart had been incomplete. That they had been waiting for him to absorb the heart of the three heroes so he would awaken as a Prince(ss) of Hearts.

Sora, Donald and Goofy races to save him and Desmond manages to escape because awakening as a Prince(ss) of Hearts meant he had the power to summon the ‘ghosts’ of the heroes who helped him escape.

In the end, Sora receives the keychain with the insignia of their kingdom (a stylized A), getting the “Hidden One” keyblade which has the perk of making the first hit of a combo have twice the damage.

Desmond remains in his world to master his new found power but promises to help Sora, Donald and Goofy if they ever need it.
