I first read “if you were lazy you would be having fun” on your blog and it has genuinely been a life-changing piece of advice for me and my friends - I’ve said it to like four of my other executive dysfunction judies and without fail it earns a ten second silence followed by a single revelatory “fuck”
My dad and I actually ran into the speech language pathologist who told me that over 20 years ago at a town hall a few months back—she is retired now, but still advocating for disabled students at IEP meetings and being a nuisance to school administrators. I thanked her for everything, and she was delighted to hear that I was passing her words along to other people who needed to hear them!

Also to answer your pride zer0 question. They are canonically nonbinary. Burch wanted them to use they/them pronouns in tftbl but fumbled it so canon uses he/him unfortunately. But yea
I now went ahead and back to reading the old mentions and articles about this topic because I DO remember hearing about the they/them discussion and to change Zer0's pronouns but then they didn't. It's a shame they didn't do it because at the time it would've added more diversity (which a lot of gamers would've hated so bad seeing how they were with Fl4k). But at least they did state Zer0 is very ambiguous and who the hell knows what he is and to be honest I think it fits his mysterious character. All you know about him for sure is his Vault Hunter name and that he loves killing for money.
Besides, it makes more sense him as non-human/ambiguously-are-they-actually-human-or-not person to not connect with human gender binary if he isn't even one. I just adore non-human characters that are best classified as nonbin because their sense of gender is too different from human.
BUT THAT BEING SAID, Nonbinary Zer0 who uses he/him pronouns 💪

Your tags on that arundhati roy post are absolutely unbelievable. “Sometimes violence is the answer actually.” Violence is the answer when children are burned and murdered in their beds? When elderly civilians are shot and then used as background props for selfies from “freedom fighters”? When parents are murdered in front of their children? Is that the kind of answer you think is justified?
Anon, I'm going to assume this ask was sent under the impulse of strong emotion, okay?
Because you completely missed both the point of the post (that non-violent solutions are not always realistically usable by the people fighting against their oppression or destruction), the part where I said you should try non-violent solutions first, and the fact that a one sentence tag does not constitute a nuanced view of someone's position.
No, the things you describe are not acceptable or defensible. Which I'm sure you knew and I suspect you picked as examples specifically for the purpose of making me feel too ashamed to defend myself. It's okay, we're not always at our best when we react impulsively.
However. Pacifism is a doctrine that essentially says no one should use violence ever for any reason, and I disagree with that. When an oppressive force or a person with horrible intentions brings violence to you, I don't think you should be judged for answering that violence.
Is it always the best solution? Definitely not. Does it solve problems long term? No. I genuinely don't think it does. But also, I don't think it's always possible to respond without violence. If someone decides to beat you up, asking them to leave politely isn't going to get them to leave you alone. Fighting back might. When an army comes into your country or region because someone somewhere decided people like you didn't deserve to exist and your people should be eradicated, asking them to stop politely won't work, and asking or hoping other countries to intervene on your behalf might not work, and if it does will likely take a while, during which more of your people will die, more of your culture will be destroyed, more of your family will suffer.
(See: Palestine right now, see the Jews of Europe during WW2, see the queer population of Chechnya since 2017, see basically every genocide ever.)
So no, of course not, the things you describe are not okay. But would you blame a man who killed the ones trying to murder his son? Would you blame a woman for killing the people who try to murder and rape her? Would you blame the population or a region being invaded for sending homemade bombs on the tanks coming in to raze their homes? I don't know that I would.
Again, yes, try non violent solution first. Yes, privilege diplomacy as much as possible, because that is how you reach long term solutions and how you achieve durable stability, social improvement and peace. But. Democracy works slowly, and sometimes answering violence with violence is the only way to survive until democracy is done doing its job, and while I hope I and the people I love never have to make that choice, I can't and won't blame the people who chose violence when they're forced to pick between that and death.
TL;DR: Using violence to hurt people and using violence to defend yourself ore those you love are not the same thing and I think acting like they are or like we can have a blanket position towards the use of violence is never going to work. Mostly because it leads to people saying things like 'the jews in WW2 shouldn't have rebelled against the Nazis' (looking at u, Ghandi) or 'Hamas is good, actually' both of which are absolute dumpster fires of a take and unfortunately not alone in the realm of horrible opinions.

it’s not impulsively sent and it’s not a one sentence view of your “nuanced” opinions considering you, at one point reblogged “this blog is safe for Jews” and then became one of the many who, after October 7th, reblogged what was oftentimes misinformation by people hiding their antisemitism under the guise of anti Zionism—all while completely ignoring what the Jewish community suffered. You don’t “fight violence with violence” by violently murdering children and civilians in an unprovoked attack on a holiday. You don’t “fight violence with violence” by raping and mutilating civilians. And ignoring that suffering while propping another group’s up while *continuing* to justify “maybe violence IS the answer” like you did in that last ask is disgusting
Right. So just for clarification: the original tags on that post were a general comment, not intended to make a judgement on any particular situation going on. I did go there myself in my previous post by mentioning the Palestinian situation which I should at the very least have been more mindful about, and I'm sorry about that. Believe it or not, I genuinely didn't remember the October attacks when I wrote this, which I admit is also not great.
This specific attack was definitely horrible, and to me at least it does very much seem retaliatory as opposed to defensive. It was, in my admittedly extremely external opinion, also generally not helpful. I can only imagine what the families of the victims are feeling right now, and I'm sorry this happened at all. (Edited to clarify: I don't think this particular case is one of justified violence.)
That being said, I also think the way the Israeli government has been talking about Palestine and deploying its forces against it is unacceptable and indefensible. I think the cessation of Palestinian occupation is the correct goal to pursue and also a necessary step in the process of dismantling Hamas and stopping its actions against Israeli (Added for clarity.) civilians. I also think that regardless of anyone's opinion on the creation of Israel, there will be no long term solution that doesn't include Israeli populations, if only because they've been there for generations now* and to inflict upon them the same thing that is being forced on Palestinians would be cruel and absolutely indefensible.
*I know there's always been a Jewish population in the region, this is not an attempt to deny that, I'm just saying that Israel as an official state has only existed for a much shorter time than that.
As for the more personal aspect of this message. I can only apologize for the misinformation I reblogged. I try to be discerning about it, I don't always do great, and as I've shown today I can definitely be thoughtless. I can only try to do better about that, and assure you that none of these instances have stemmed from a deliberate attempt to be hurtful to or bring harm to Jewish communities, though of course that doesn't mean I didn't hurt anyone with them.
Lastly, and at the risk of sounding like I'm doubling down: in a broad sense, I still don't believe Pacifism as a political praxis can or should be applied to all situations. I don't expect everyone to agree with me on that but I would be lying if I said the opposite.
