I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who was at least miffed by the pixar logo tweet.

I understood it as him jumping onto the “intrusive thoughts be like” joke but that isn’t an excuse, especially given he has definitely done research when writing two well put together episodes on intrusive thoughts and has a character who is supposed to be representative as such. I’m not sure if it would have applied to that tweet, but I’ve seen people use “impulsive thoughts” as a more appropriate and accurate version of the joke.

I also scrolled a bit down in that comment section, and it worries me someone asked for it to be in an incorrect quotes video, said comment currently having 37 likes (a few others asking for it to be in such a video). A couple people have called him out on it saying he’s misusing the term but the tweet remains up.

( for clarification : me talking about thomas in this post is strictly talking ab the content creator thomas who posts on twitter, not the character thomas that is played by an actor)

oh i agree totally! i rarely venture into the depths of thomas' comments and quote tweets (nothing against the younger kids in his fandom, but i cringe a little too much reading their comments) but after i got your ask i looked through, and it was pretty 50/50 with "haha remus be like!" and "dude wtf you did a whole video on intrusive thoughts"

i think this reflects the problem with thomas personifying his intrusive thoughts to the extent that he does. every time he brings up intrusive thoughts in any capacity, his own or others, many a fans will immediately equate it to remus. its not inherently his fault - people and himself do the same with equating thomas speaking about his creative process to roman, his logical thinking to logan etc etc. the problem i view it as is that intrusive thoughts arent a concept like morality, deception, etc, its a product of mental illness

the thing for me is once the fatherbrothergodhero turns his attention towards You the worshipperchild he becomes Human and Flawed and Fallible and it changes the dynamic drastically… not necessarily in a way that isn't interesting; i think i would still read a fic manifesto if it was complex and well-written in ways i enjoy but ultimately i think i’m just too soft to deal with the sleazy realities of this scenario…. they have been through Enough (<- says guy who loves when characters are tortured in evil depraved ways.) (i also realize i tend to have a Strong Sense of where i see characters Canonically, as opposed to people whom have more characterization flexibility hopping around from one possibility to the next. i can do that to some extent, but in my brain it registers as a Dark Timeline that isn't part of [my delusional] Canon)
