Yeaaaaaaaaa. In the mean time, I started HRT, grew out my hair and then cut it into a pixie cut, had my first period, cried a lot and felt like I was in isolation from the community that I had just joined. I miss talking to other girls on here and being apart of the community.

“Well, well. If it isn’t Eli Fawcett. Rough night? You look like shit.” Iolanthe chuckled as she saw the state he was in.

“Anyways, I have a question for you, if you would be so kind. What does magic mean to you? You’ve picked a career in the muggle world so you must not practice it much, unlike myself,” she gestured to the air without a wand and a couple small balls of light illuminated the dark room, gently floating and orbiting each other.

[Cue a big, cheesy, cocky grin.]

Eli: “(cheerfully) Morning, Lanny! I do, don’t I?”

Damn it, my head hurts…maybe if I just spike this pear juice with the tiniest bit of gin, it’ll take the edge off…

Eli: “(still grinning) But hey, at least at the premiere, I didn’t have to eat any. Something I can’t say, for all the critics present…”

“Only an absolute imbecile would try to cast ‘Funnyman Fawcett’ as a leading man” — eat those shitty words of yours and enjoy it, you chatter-mags…

[Eli takes another bite of egg toast, considering the question.]

Eli: “…Magic’s smashing. But it’s a talent, just like any other — something some people have potential for, and nurture, and profit off of…while others don’t. It’s just like acting, or dancing, or singing, or playing the piano…or anything else, really.”

[His hazel eyes actually become a little smaller.]

Eli: “…The only problem is that a lot of people see our talent as something more: as something indicative of higher worth. Something that makes us better than other people, somehow. And yet even then, we’re only truly great if we use that talent in very particular ways and under certain guidelines that only those in power have much of any say in…”

[Eli reaches into his bathrobe pocket and fetches out his wand, waving it at the window so as to silently close the curtains and darken the room.]

Ahhh, that’s better.

Eli: “When I came to the States looking for work without my family name and reputation being a chip I could ‘cash in’ to get ahead, it wasn’t my magic that helped me earn enough to feed myself. It certainly helps, don’t get me wrong — but it’s the talents I’ve acquired through working alongside incredibly talented Muggles — pardon, No-Majs — ”

I will never get used to that word.

Eli: “ — that have helped me give back and do some real good for people…however small and significant it probably is, in the grand scheme.”

[Eli grins.]

Eli: “But hey, aren’t we all that, anyhow?”

[Rather than sound cynical, though, Eli only seems to sound sunnier than ever, saying it.]

If we’re all insignificant, then what must that say about all our pain, misfortunes, unhappiness?

[...Whoops. It seems someone’s fallen asleep on top of the Askbox. But who the heck is still asleep at quarter-to-twelve in the morning? 

Answer: a lanky, dark-haired, long-nosed young man, whose suit is in disarray and whose eyes blink blearily as he starts to wake up. The faint sunlight peeping in through his window makes him shudder.]

Eli: “Ugh...”

[Yup. Definitely a hangover. He flops over, not really wanting to move at all, but just wanting to get away from the light. It hurts to think. What time is it? Once he sees the clock, he gives another moan.]

Shit. That late already? ...Well, I guess last night was pretty fun. Guess this is proper justice, for going on such a toot. 

[The blurry memory of an austere boy with dark hair and a gaunt face dressed in a Ravenclaw tie @sirfluffig​ gave him a very tired, reproachful look, and Eli smiles a bit despite himself.]

Hey, the fun was good while it lasted. 

[With a sigh, he lurches out of bed.]

Eli: “(mumbling) ...I need some fucking pear juice...”

[And a shower. A nice cold shower. It wouldn’t metabolize the alcohol any faster, but at least it might help him wake up.

Wasn’t there something his mundane was telling him she wanted him to do...? 

Eli blinks tiredly, trying to focus, when his eyes find the Askbox he’d fallen asleep on.]

Oh right -- that thing.

[Eli puts on his best, bright smile and removes his askew tie as he tries to ignore the throbbing in his head.]

Eli: “Hey there, sheiks and shebas! The name’s Eli Fawcett.”

Fuck, my head hurts. 

Eli: “(without skipping a beat) Don’t know if you’d know my work -- I’ve been in a small handful of moving pictures. ...Or maybe not so small. My hands might just be bigger than the average man.”

[Eli waggles his eyebrows playfully. He’s clearly just having a laugh.]

Eli: “But enough about my assets. My ‘mundane,’ as she calls herself, is a bit tied up with work -- (dryly) a dreadful thing, certainly glad I don’t have that problem...so she thought it would be good to ‘give me some vocal warm-ups,’ as it were, until she can work on her most recent art project more this upcoming Sunday and Monday. And far be it from me to not take advantage of some proper rehearsal time. So that’s why Tory love has opened her ‘Askbox’ for me to use. She says I fit into what she calls the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ timeline, which encompasses the 20′s, 30′s, and 40′s...and she encourages both you, her followers, and your characters from that timeline to interact. Apparently she thinks a famous Hollywood actor needs some friends.”

[Cheeky grin. He holds his hands up with the fingers spread in mock defensiveness.]

Eli: “But hey, I’m not opposed! So go ahead and send in some questions, if you’d like, and I’ll answer them over a nice breakfast of carbs. After I get out of my shower, that is. Reckon I shouldn’t be lolling about in these glad rags all day, however glitzy they might’ve been last night....”
