Hello kind person on internet,

Was wondering if you ever made a post about how Lucifer is like?

I know He's probably different to everyone just like any other deity, but I've heard He gives "tough love", and I'm not sure if I could handle working with Him

hello there!! I haven't made a post like that yet but I can give at least some info, I may work on a more detailed explanation of my experiences with him but for now here's the basics! Although he's absolutely just like you said, different to everyone.

He's very fatherly to me, very comforting and patient, usually very to the point and straightforward with his messages.

I personally don't respond the best to tough love, so it's entirely possible he avoids showing me that aspect of himself for my sake. It's also possible if you can't handle that, he won't show you that aspect either! I'd say that out of all the deities I've worked with and worshipped, Lucifer has cared the most about my feelings and his effect on them.

He's been a lot like a committed dad to me, by my side thru the hard times and there to celebrate my accomplishments.

I understand fatherly energies can be very overwhelming to most, but his feels very warm and incredibly positive, not overbearing or oppressive.

I hope this helps, and either way my asks are still open if you have more questions!

A woman, seemingly distracted by the pile of cloth she’s fiddling with in her arms, spots the demon and hastily heads his way.

“Oh, Joseph, starlight, would you-“ She pauses, not necessarily with surprise, but more so out of… a gentle realization. “Apologies. You are not Joseph… well, I suppose not the one I was looking for… goodness, is it frustrating to navigate this manor… there’s too many versions of all of you running around.” She sighed before proceeding to hand him a sample of the cloth, the fabric shimmering with starlight. It seemed to have more depth to it, beyond the flatness of the cloth. The colors and pattern of the fabric would shift, seeming to follow a day and night cycle. As the stars disappeared upon the cloth, clouds and sunlight would paint the cloth in the splendor of the sunrise and daytime.

“Well, regardless of who I was looking for, you will do just fine. Do me a favor starlight…? As you know, I am the manors current provider of the fabrics for the manors most splendid clothing. However, with requests and concepts becoming more… complex, I need to make sure the fabric I have constructed, won’t be interfering with any… gadgetry. Would you mind carrying this around while your cameras are active…? I must make an account of any possible anomalies.”

Azrael stared at the woman - was she even human? The white wings sprouting from the sides of her head suggested otherwise, as did the strange light emitting from somewhere around her head.

If the hunter didn't know any better, he'd say she was an angel but angel usually had wings on their back. Maybe she was more of a bird-person, like Miss Nightingale? Well, not that details mattered right now.

Azrael listened closely to her request and, after deeming it safe to interact with her, Azrael replied: “First of all, my name is Azrael. I can see you appear to be terribly busy but would the lady do me the honour of telling me her name as well?”

Let's start this off with a bang

Dick is completely naked except for a towel and with one (well defined) leg he hooks the handle of the beer bucket and sends it smashing into Midnighter to stop him from using the knife on another person.

Pure. Fucking. Platinum.

That move was so delicious, there's an ease-fluidity-grace-to that split second movement. Also notice how accurate his aim is despite swinging it with the arc of his toes. The bucket slammed right into the medulla oblongata, or more specifically the pyramidal tracts which are crucial for controlling voluntary muscular movements. Nerves from the brain cross over at that area as they go down and then synapse onto other nerves that are responsible for controlling muscles when they leave the spinal cord. The precision at which he aimed the bucket is glorious. And with what? His feet.

The only reason Midnighter wasn't injured is because he is a meta which is the point. Otherwise Dick wouldn't have aimed there unless he was fighting an enemy.

Oh that brings me to my next point.

Dick has extraordinary control of his actions

He's so right though. Nightwing doesn't need to kill because fighting is too easy for him. I swear he has some kind of messed up idea (aside from his need to be absolutely good) that killing someone with a gun would take the joy out of fighting. He loves to live life on the hardest mode only.

The rapid fire throw of the gun, calculating the distance, time, velocity of return, and angle? I mean I studied physics and calculating even half of that on paper is a headache. The fact that he did it in one second? It's extraordinary. Things that are pure, dumb luck to literally everyone else is carefully calculated at a speed faster than light, making it look like luck. Damn.

Yeah.

Forget Slade. Midnighter is my new favorite nemesister.

DO YOU SEE WHAT HE FOUGHT WITH?! WHILE DEATHSTROKE AND BLACK ADAM WERE FIGHTING WITH META POWERS AND A CURSED SWORD, HE FUCKING WRAPPED CHAINS AROUND HIMSELF LIKE A BOSS AND WHIPPED THE SHIT OUT OF THAT MAN.

Dick's innovativeness is a formidable skill when fighting allies.

Dick and Ras are evenly matched in sword fighting.

Wait, wait. I don't need any doubts about Dick's strength in sword fighting so I'm going to include a couple panels here:

Dick fights Azrael to a standstill which is absolutely incredible because Azrael solos. He's gone through many upgrades and skills and is one of the best fighters ever. He's even defeated Bruce.

He also defeated Jason and Tim together in Batman and Robin Eternal.

This is just another point towards the fact that Dick actually won in his fight against Bruce before going into Spyral. They weren't holding back.

Oh yeah. Ra's vs Dick panel, Dick and Ra's aren't going anywhere because Dick is a swordsman equivalent to one of the best in the world. So how do you win a draw? By one upping the opponent. He swings his foot up in midair and completely defeats him. "But that isn't a defeat...Ra's just stopped fighting!" It was complete defeat because Ra's is intelligent and knows when he can't win. Also they have been fighting for a while until they reached the breaking point in the battle. This move is a show of how Dick has that just one inch more that will lead him to be a victor.

Ra's honors Dick so much he tried to give the sword he used to fight with Batman because he thinks Dick is worthy of it. Can anyone receive a higher honor than this from that man?

He'll also use the broken glass of a car window to take down his opponent. If that's not innovation, then what is?

But one last thing since a car door cannot be considered innovative these days.

sticks. He literally took two twigs off the ground to use as weapons against his highly skilled, one of the best assassins, great-grandfather who is fighting with daggers in his hands and all over his body.

But you know the best part?

He draws his opponent to a tie. A tie? Not a win? No it was win after, considering he used his relative's falling body as a launching pad in the middle of the air when they were falling off the bridge to grab onto the bridge with the help of his friend. So it was his win but it's insane how incredible Dick's skills are.

It's really innovative because who thinks of using twigs and winning? Let me also clarify another point. Dick could've used the knives he'd gotten from his talon suit and thoroughly won because when he was brain washed he almost killed Red Condor from how skilled he was but he conscientiously chose to use twigs. In a sword fight. This man.

His improvisation is an asset that many have come to know him for and classify him as dangerous because he can fight with anything, anywhere, and win.

Something I want to end with. Dick only fights people who are stronger than him. I know he's fought mob characters and stuff but his enemies? They are all metas, assassins, skilled fighters, Russian Black Ops, and more. Essentially, people who are the top of the class in their categories and him defeating them equally and fairly is the reason why he has the respect of his enemies. He's just that good.

How is the angel of death treated in your world?

Azrael is an angel the other angels are incredibly wary of, because not only does she transport souls, but she knows when they'll die. and the same goes for angels. She's very cryptic, not very social and pretty much keeps to herself.

Some even resent her, because if she knows when certain loved ones will die, then she could have warned them to prevent it, but Azrael refuses to get in the way of God's plans.

sorry it's taken forever to answer this. mainly cuz i was deciding if i should cuz i don't want to spoil anything. but i think i can without spoiling anything

so their relationship is mainly professional, they are doing what god or at least those higher up to them order them to do and if they are paired to do a mission, then they'll do it. simple as that. az is kind of a loner after all while gabe is very outgoing. their personalities are pretty opposite to one another

and yes az will be in future parts but i cant tell you how much.

What are the top three most popular angels, and what are your top three angels?

So that first part is really easy. My most popular angels are: Gadreel, Angel of War

Zuriel, Angel of Libra

and Azrael, Angel of Death (of course)

My personal top are a little harder.

I do really love Azrael

I even gave him a house at one point, the Driftwood Cathedral.

After that, it would have to be Raziel, Angel of Mystery

He's an angel I really love exploring just as a character, and the one I think I can personally relate the most to. That probably comes as no surprise to anyone.

Troubled was a grave understatement.

What should have been considered a joyful occasion, the first human to be accepted into Heaven's loving embrace.. Was mired by doubt for the one who had to judge said soul. And while he tried to put on a simple smile for anyone who even looked his way, there was an all too obvious, but figurative ;cloud; cast over the youngest of the Archangels.

"I.. guess but.." It was rare that Azrael didn't look up to meet the others gaze. Instead it was focused downward to the gilded, marble tiles upon the floor. He didn't want to admit his troubles, he knew Michael already dealt with enough when it came to his own work, with the Legions and having to be such a strong pillar for Heaven.

Especially after everything that's happened so far, the blood that ran through the streets.

How he cowered in his office as the rebellion happened. Only able to hear the cries, the screams... He was no fighter. And just as that was, he could barely raise his voice to Sera as she overruled his first, and most important decision.

"Sera overruled me." He spoke quietly, his voice shaking.

"He-.. Adam.. he's not supposed to be here.." He could not bare to tell anyone else this, no other angel or anyone below his station. And the only reason he would say so to Michael is because.. well..

He was God's favored, the most respected of them all. And his Big Brother. But more importantly-

Sera was not within earshot.

"She.. she said I was wrong, that... that the scales Father made for me were wrong." It felt so.. Blasphemous. To be told that something their loving Father created was 'wrong', to say that the angel in-charge of the judgement of souls.. was wrong!?

Absolutely agree with your post. My friend once told me something like “it’s interesting to see how there are a lot of narratives within dick grayson’s stories that can be read as metaphors of rejection of someone’s autonomy—which is many times it happens towards/explored in female characters, e.g the robin mantle being ‘ripped away’ from him without his consent, his should have been ‘fate’ as talon, a tool for CoO” and when you add it with his canonical SA and the many times he gets objectified, another thing that media throughout the times write happened to/explored in female characters, it further cements the point of him occupying the (traditional) female character role.

You guys did a fantastic job of identifying core examples of where Dick is written for the female role. Every time I read him, I'm amazed time and time again how beautifully DC has written him. He's undeniably written as a man but he's unique in the way his characteristics overwhelmingly reflect typical female personality traits and his entire life story is written as if he were a woman. The relationships he has with people, he always subtly ends up in the female role.

Take the scene of him being objectified -

This is exactly what it's like to be catcalled.

It's humiliating, uncomfortable, and scary. It needs to be addressed.

But here's where I oppose fandom's view on this. Fandom basically blames DC for scenarios like this where Dick is being harassed by other characters for his beauty or suggesting that Dick somehow encourages this behavior, but I think we should restructure our outlook.

Dick being objectified should be considered as one of his trauma's like his SA is. Like the way Jason death affected him, Stephanie's death affected her, or the way Tim's depression did him, Dick's constant sexual objectification should be analyzed as part of canon problem because it's relates to once again to how women feel in these exact situations. Note the way he is uncomfortable - the writers know what they're doing. They know it's wrong and if they're bringing up his reluctance time and time again, then this should be explored not as a fault of DC but as a problem he's forced to face.

DC uses Dick as a soundboard to broadcast the issues women face in a way that wouldn't be as problematic as if they did with other major female characters. Because doing such things to female characters is a little too political for a comic book and a corporate company so they take liberties through Dick instead. Some of the times they've written him seem intentional and other times it seems unintentional, but even with the way the later is written, it's because they're following Dick's standard characterization which was written to be the balance between men and women.

Another major, MAJOR point you bring up is autonomy.

Autonomy is the essence of his character.

Quick definition: autonomy is the right to self-govern. This means you're in control of your own actions, beliefs, and HERE IT IS - Freedom to do what you wish to.

From the moment Dick and Bruce started fighting, the problem with their relationship boiled down to one thing and one thing only. Freedom.

Given my other Bruce and Dick posts, I've mentioned how Bruce felt an increasing need for control over Dick while Dick felt increasingly furious at his freedom being taken away.

Even Azrael when he lost it for a moment. Batman!Dick

Another point: For Bruce, all his enemies want him to break. They want him to turn evil but for Dick's, his enemies always want to him to follow them.

Yet the fact that Dick faces all this and continually fights this - he's girlbossing so hard.

That's why I like Dick so much. He breaks the gender roles. Because breaking gender roles isn't just painting your nails pink and saying you respect women. No. It means playing the traditional role of men and women both.

A man's typical role is strength, power, and competitiveness.

A woman's typical role is vulnerability, empathy, and intutition.

But Dick? Dick is one of the strongest fighters in all of DC, he's considered the best leader, and he's so brilliant he always wins his fights. But at the same time, he cries when he's heartbroken. He cares for children that aren't his own and citizens he doesn't know. He anticipates the emotions of his family and friends and loves them for who they are.

That's also a core difference between Bruce's treatment of the batfamily vs Dick's. Where Bruce rages at their disobedience and differences, Dick accepts them and encourages them. Another why Bruce is viewed as the father role of the family while Dick is viewed in the mother context. Evidence of this is pretty clear in Red Robin Issues #23 - 26 with the way Dick treats Tim vs the way Bruce treats him.

DC made Dick pretty on purpose and they wrote him like a woman on purpose while building him up as a man.

I'll iterate agin, he was built to fight male toxic masculinity and we should be looking at him through those lens. He's a complex, deep character that was meant to break gender roles by embodying both male and female characteristics and that's beauty of him.
