Continuing The Thru-Hiker

Hey all, I’m hard at work on a continuation of some more Mothman goodness with our boy Desmond. It’s gotten away from me (both in how long it’s been, and how much I’m now writing, which is a lot) but I think I’ll be done with the next big “act” of the story soon. So here’s my question to you all: would you prefer shorter (around 3-4k words) but more frequent “chapters”, or longer (8-10k words) but less frequent “chapters?” (I’m asking this in general, not just for the rest of the Thru-Hiker). Regardless, I’ll be posting a mini-chapter teaser sort of thing for the rest of the story soon.

I know it’s been an eternity since I’ve posted anything but I’m super grateful every time I see the notifications for likes and reblogs on my stories. I’m really hoping to get more stories out this year and wrap up any favorites of yours. Thanks to all of ya! 💜💜💜

A few thoughts under the cut!

Andrew works at a coffee shop in a college town, so far with all the foxes except Aaron, and Neil’s been far away on the run. I’ve been putting Robin in this one and I bet Seth hangs around the shop for Allison. Aaron will pick up a shift or two but mostly he’s focusing on school.

Anyway one day in a cold winter a new guy comes into the shop looking to warm up, and Andrew just happens to be working the register (rare). It’s hard to tell with the mask, but this guy doesn’t seem to be much older than him or the team, and Andrew can catch glances of bandages and band-aids under his clothes.

He becomes a regular through winter, but none of the baristas can decide on his name because he gives a different one every time he comes in.

Ash's Family

She doesn't know anything about her parents except that they worked for the same Lunar gang she works for: the Kanra.

And she only knows that because her aunt, her father's sister, raised her after they died of mysterious causes.

And she only knows that because her aunt, who she doesn't especially like, told her as much.

Outside of her aunt, who has her doing work for the gang since childhood, Ash has no other immediate family she's aware of. She made temporary homes and found families out of other misfits in various other gangs. In some cases these relationships faded, there when they were needed and then gone again. In other cases, they maintained.

She thinks of Sam as her family, but feels too shy or nervous to ever mention it. She just hopes he somehow knows.

Frigid Steel, Boiling Wraith

Thinking about how pale ore is eerily chill to the touch

about how PV's spells, likely learnt from its father, take on the same shape as nails made out of an ore allegedly related to its parents

about how those spells are pretty much a solid state of soul for a few moments about how solid state of matter is often the most "cold" state, generally speaking

about how cold it's often associated with lack of emotion and corpses

Also thinking about how the knight's spells, learned from the snails, is more raw, more volatile

stated and shown to literally burn opponents, more of a hot blast than a proper solid mass

shaped and named after haunting ghosts, spectres that do not lay to rest, despite soul itself being present in the whole environment and not necesarily directly linked to sentient beings

about how it is strong emotions what fuels their transformation into their more powerful state through the usage of void, a volatile yet maleable substance, and the opposite of light

Tatsuya Endo, the author of Spy x Family, did a one shot manga back in 2014 called Rengoku no Ashe or 'Ashe of Purgetory'.

And the design of the main character is just straight up teenage Anya Forger, five years before Spy x Family came out:

Hobbies

Ash always wants to be moving. When her heart is racing and the world is zooming by, she feels the most alive and most free. It makes her feel connected to everything and it's connection that she's always so desperately searching for.

So her hobbies are running, skating, climbing, leaping, parkour, dancing, aerobics, and gymnastics.

Her favorite thing to do is to run or skate with loud dance music playing over earpieces. But sometimes it's enough for her to just hear the sounds of the city as she pushes herself to run faster and faster.

She is also obsessed with birds and bird facts (or things she thinks are bird facts that are just completely wrong).

She's never been swimming before. She'd like to someday.
