what is your favorite fgo servant?

It has to be her.

Asagami Fujino is one of my absolute favorite characters in fiction. While anyone who has seen her source material is able to understand her as a sympathetic villain, she only makes a major appearance in her dedicated film, Kara no Kyoukai 3: Tsuukaku Zanryuu (Remaining Sense of Pain). Her inability to feel pain has left her emotionally dulled and she has difficulty relating to others, even though she desperately wants to. Anyone who has seen this movie will have a grasp on her personality characteristics, something I feel I can relate to.

Below is an excerpt from her profile in Fate/Grand Order.

Possessing feminine mannerisms, verbal expressions and personality, but her hobbies are something far removed from girlish tastes. She prefers dark things that one can secretly enjoy alone, such as viewing horror movies. The person herself will not be aware of this until the end, but she has a latent predisposition to sadism. This is the reason why she becomes cruel, coldhearted, of bad taste as soon as she is driven to a corner.

In Remaining Sense of Pain, Fujino commits a string of murders against people that are aware of her ability to twist anything, a cruel form of telekinesis. She says that she doesn't want to hurt anyone, but she does secretly enjoy it.

Her addition to Fate/Grand Order is, by the game's admission, peculiar.

A temporary Servant manifested by the Counter Force for the purpose of acting against the incineration of humanity.

The era that Fujino lived in was turned to ash by the incineration of the anthropic principle. She too was burned to ashes, but her peculiarity was not overlooked by the Counter Force of the world. The Alaya-shiki adopted her superpower as a military asset for the sake of overturning the incineration of the anthropic principle and she was summoned by Chaldea as a transient Servant. For her, this current self is nothing but a "dream". Just like Shiki, this is an illusion of a single night that she is seeing just before being burned to ashes, and which will simply disappear if the incineration of the anthropic principle is not overturned. A person with normal sensitivities would fall in a state confusion and panic, but Fujino has smoothly accepted this abnormality. She perfectly understands her position as someone summoned as a Servant and probably will endeavor to help the Master, within the limits of what she can do.

The game essentially keeps her a secret, and her only appearance was, for the longest time, her initial banner on the Kara no Kyoukai collab event rerun. Even during this event, she does not appear in its story. Her first story appearance would not be until years later, during Summer 5 (Servant Summer Camp) where she plays the role of a ghost girl. In the epilogue of this event, we are afforded a rare glimpse into her sweet side, as she takes the protagonist, Ritsuka Fujimaru, on a date.

There's also gameplay reasons. Her defensive skill, Remaining Sense of Pain A, makes her virtually immune to potshots offered by most enemy normal attacks for a solid 3/5 turns. Meanwhile, her main offensive skill, Mystic Eyes of Distortion EX, gives her access to defense-ignoring on a skill, which is quite rare. All of her skills, actually, last three turns. To put it simply, at higher levels, she becomes an ultimate combination of offense and defense, I find.

In conclusion, I love her, and I love fighting beside her.

It could just be an observation bias, but do the limited banners in AK not feel "bad" (at least compared to FGO and Genshin)?

I want to go for W, but my chances to get her feel worse than if I want to go for someone in the other two games. Limited banners are already scarce in AK and she had only 1 rate-up in all the banners she was available. And "worse" is that the rate-up was before I played the game.

Sorry, but there is no way you can ever convince me AK's limited gacha feels worse than FGO's or Genshin's, when every other FGO unit is limited and EVERY unit of Genshin outside of the starting batch is limited and unit duplicates actually give significant upgrades.

These limited banners come once every 3 months with free rolls every day and free orundrum every day. if you really, really want W, save for a limited banner and then just go for the 300 roll spark. By spamming recruitment to get dupes, you can build up gold certificates to buy up the monthly roll tickets, and if you're truly desperate, you can convert orirock cubes into orundrum (do not do this unless you're desperate). There's a predictable schedule with free rolls that you can get lucky in, and the 300 (should be 120 like Ash though imo) roll safety net.

You know what feels bad? I saved for Avenger Oda Nobunaga for two years. Two fucking years. Not just saved on quartz, I ignored every rank up quest I didn't need and EVERY interlude while saving up all the tiny quartz whose name I forgot so I had a secondary bank in case it all went wrong. I had spent 900 quartz on King Hassan's first banner without a single 5 star, I was not going to lose like that again.

But I didn't get shit after over 1000 quartz. not a single 5 star. I caved and spent on the 100 dollar pack because I couldn't believe all my preparation had failed and you know what I got? A goddamn Altera dupe at the last roll.

FGO introduced a 330 roll spark more than half a goddamn decade after it went live. THAT feels bad. THAT feels worse, way way worse.

You know, with Ash's VA being fired from any future projects I get the feeling any Lostbelt 4-related things down the road are pretty much dead. Since he plays such a huge part in the chapter, it'd be really hard to adapt it without him present (more like impossible) and there isn't exactly a high demand for it from the fans besides.

You know something kind of annoying? I can’t actually find anything saying definitively if ashwatthama’s og va (tatsuhisa suzuki) was fired from fgo specifically. He was let go/recast from some other projects (partially because of the cheating scandal but also partially because he took a hiatus as he tried to take his life after the scandal broke apparently?), but nothing I’ve seen mentions fate specifically and I have no idea if that’s the reason the character himself has been semi absent from recent fgo media that didn’t require a va.

Also apparently he and liSa, who he cheated on are still together and even had a wedding ceremony in 2022 so my conclusion: ????????

i really like the side-story in the Case Files event, even if it's a little messy at times

[spoilers]

the story of FGO is frequently at it's best when its JUST guda and one or two fellow servants (see: the start of LB1, shinjuku, Shimousa even if I don't like that one) so the choice to have it just be Guda and Faker was really nice

the commentary on the "theseus paradox" of "even if this version of you dies, and you remember it only as a dream, would it still be worth saving"? to which the answer is "yes, because i'm still alive now" was very very goodciv, im a sucker for that

Guda almost dies which is great I'm also a sucker for them experiencing unimaginable suffering

not really sure how i feel about the whole Hephaistion-Mneomnosyne thing, esp since i dont think a second part was ever mentioned in the original event, but it seemed like a handwave for why Faker was summonable so i don't really care

seeing Faker go from "cocky jerk who only wants to get out" to "burning her spirit origin to ash, summoning the one person she vowed never to face again, and not even wanting an answer to her question because saving this one tiny, insignificant fragment that she vowed to remember" OHHHHHHHHHHH thats the GOOD SHIT

Faker is a person who was a fragment of another man, and was forgotten. Even if she doesn't want to admit it, that hurt her deeply and eternally, and she refuses to see it happen again while she can do something about it

Also her summoning fuckin Ionoi Hetaroi while "You are my King" plays in the background was peak

Even if it wasn't the best written side-story, and was kind of slapdash, I deeply deeply enjoyed the plot for its vibes alone

Now if only they could officially translate Case Files/Adventures so i could FUCKIN READ THE THINGS TALKED ABOUT

15. The squad you bring on your first attempt

so this is an interesting one because I always tend to shuffle around my swuad wildly

for proper story completion i always have a premade mostly well balanced squad of all classes which I imagine everyone else does BUT for events and whenever I have to do some farming i always shuffle it to trust farm which leads me to trying out a bunch of weird ops/strats of units I did raise but dont use as much because they're niche as all hell. Idc if the module isnt out yet or if duelist defenders are somewhat lacking i s2m3d that Aurora and use her whenever i can

26. Something you want added to the game

a dinosaur girl or church grimm operator god fucking damnit so theres actually a very VERY minor feature i do want them to add to arknights: costume shuffle

so in FGO, units have 3+ different looks they can rock and for some characters, all their designs are good!! so theres a toggle option to randomly display any of the various designs whenever you bring them to battle

Arknights generally only has 2 if an op has a costume, but generally most if not all base designs also fucking rule so id love a random display option to mix it up between the 2 whenever you bring them to a map. To add to this, some units actually do have significant design changes when they hit E2 but their in game sprites dont change, so if they ever do make new game sprites to reflect E2 changes, id want this option even more

28. Strongest Operator

a toughie! theres lots of units who are strong in lots of unique ways and Arknights is designed and balanced around the map design where you can clear even the most difficult stages with a squad of low rarity units

So I'll just list a few from each class that I consider specific standouts-

Guards: Blaze, Thorns, Silverash, Surtr, Lord Guards, Centurioun Guards, whaddya want me to say they call the game Guardknights for a reason

Vanguards: MYRTLE (really all standardbearers), Bagpipe, Saga, Siege (yes im a siegebaby i don't care she rules and functionally is about the same as Saga only slightly weaker)

Sniper: Exusiai (dont listen to propaganda shes still among the best snipers), Rosa, W, Ash

Caster: Brother, if you dont throw that volcano sheep at everything what are you even doing. Seriously though Eyjafallja was the strongest st caster on release and nearly 3 years later still is BUT they have released more fun tech options like Ceobe, Dusk/Mostima. Oh also Carnelian and Passenge- [the door is kicked down and I am dragged away by men in suits]

Defenders: Mudrock, Horn, Saria, Nian & Hoshiguma arent considered that good by the community but legitimately theyre among the best Defenders at actually Being Defenders and they've had some good showings recently due to their damage reflection

Medic: Kaltsit (not as a MEDIC specifically but Mont3r is among, if not the single most powerful summon unit we have and Mont3r is a fucking MONSTER), Shining and Nightingale are your bread and butter ST and AoE medics, however Ptilopsis and Perfumer see more use for AoE because their low rarity+more general utility does make them more widely applicable to more team comps

Supporters: Skadi Alter (the great one, the savior, the posessed idiot) and Suzuran (you need something gone you just activate that S3 and watch things die. S3 is also a really fast aoe heal for all friendlies in range so theres some extra utility)

Specialists: Specialists have a ton of weird, Specialized units like fast redeploy, trappers, push/pullers etc so just play around with all of them. however invest in Jaye and Gravel because those two 4*s are among the best in their rarity, Jaye for IS has some of the biggest returns per investment and Gravel is your wife

I started playing Waifu Impact (the other one) and I have some Thoughts I need to inflict on my followers

When people said you could only summon waifus in this game, I didn’t really believe them, but now I’m like……..eh. Yeah I can confirm this is Waifu Impact

‘Why are you looking for clothes in the soup store?!’ ‘Fuck you!’

Speaking of waifus, they all have horrible designs. Like, on par with FGO and E7. For now I’m still in the early stage of trying to decide if the story can shine despite that, but I have to admit it’s hard to focus on dialogues when I’m constantly thinking ‘Girl, WHAT are you wearing, how does it work’

Speaking of the story, I always feel like I missed a chapter when I start a new mission adsfjlljg. Like……I wish we had a little more Exposition by Explanation, actually. This changes a lot from Hellshin’s ‘go read these 50 pages of lore in ancient artifacts, this will never be relevant in the main story but whatever lol’ form of storytelling. I’m just not really used to it, I guess

I can get 50 different flavors of Waifus in bikini, but not even ONE healer? Really, MHY?

If you played a game called ‘take a shot every time a character with white hair and blue eyes shows up’ you would die in ten minutes

For all the people who (rightfully) complained about the lack of diverse skin tones in Hellshin, I want to say: please don’t play Waifu Impact, because it’s worse in that aspect

On the bright side, the gameplay aspect is fun, even if I’m not engaging with it the way MHY wanted me to. I just smash the same button and go PUNCH PUNCH KILL KILL while my enemies turn to ash. Monkey brain goes brrrrrrrrr
