the ppl on twitter being like "y'all don't know how to have fun" are so funny to me bc it's like. no i actually do know how to have fun and plenty of my favorite artists have made songs that are just pure fun. but there's.... skill to that? there's a way to do that well lol

i also do think it's a little interesting that people going on about those who don't like the song not being able to have fun when the lyrics are still serious. part of making things you can just vibe to includes the lyrics being lighter imo? i felt the same way about just kidding and you'd be paranoid too. these aren't songs i'd turn on when i'm trying to have a good time.

also i'm real fucking sick of him beating the 'my fans only like me when i'm sad' thing to death like it's tired. this is the third album we've gotten this bullshit on and it's like.... i have no sympathy for you complaining about your fans when you also treat them like shit lol

yeah i think awsten writing recently tries to straddle the line between self-loathing and haha post-ironically #selfaware funnie but it really comes off as deeply uncomfortable? like he tries to build this asshole character but when he starts listing some of his actual fears and concerns it just comes off as him actually being a conceited asshole. he takes himself too seriously sometimes especially when it comes to his music and you can tell but he tries to force in jokes so he can try and hide the glass onion of ego and self-loathing at the center - iz

Okay, I have more to say apparently.

Dream is currently gaining subscribers at an insane pace - I think it’s been less than 3 weeks since he hit 4 mil and he’s already passed 5 mil - that’s crazy. 

His youtube content is excellent, producing frequent well-edited, well-executed videos on both his channel and George’s. He definitely deserves to have a lot of fans. The issue is that this fanbase is so fresh that it’s practically impossible to manage and so it’s currently a mess. 

An exciting mess to be sure - the fanart and fan animations and even those compilations vids are all lovely. There’s a lot to enjoy. It’s also pretty cool how others streamers are getting more attention thanks to Dream’s audience. 

But gosh does it have its dark side. 

I’ve seen tons of comments from all sorts of people stating that they despise Dream’s fans. As a fan myself, it’s annoying that this is the case. But it’s more than understandable. A small segment can be incredibly loud and obnoxious and its frankly tiresome. The most frustrating thing is that it is only a small amount of people. Sadly though, when they’re gaining so many new fans, it’s far from insignificant. 

I see this as an issue resulting from the rapid growth because unlike many other youtubers, the fanbase is far less established and far less cohesive when it’s so rapidly changing. It’s doubled in like a couple months! Because it’s new and novel, participants are far more loud and active - with time they’ll calm down but by then Dream will have gained millions more subscribers. 

Furthermore, they don’t really know how to handle things properly. A good instance is how in their first livestream they clearly didn’t know what they were doing and didn’t have mods or a system in place. Had they grown more slowly they’d have had time to get used to things a bit more but they had to cater to a massive audience from the beginning. When they participated in MCU, it went rather poorl so they started complaining about the events issues and, I think they underestimate how large their audience is, loads fans followed Dream’s lead in attacking the event - contrast with BadBoyHalo who had his issues too but generally enjoyed the event delivering any criticisms in a much more constructive way (though poor Bad is probably especially careful and must be very wary of his fans who actually might be the worst). Overall, I think they’re still learning and its harder for them because any mistakes they make lead to drama. Even when they do little things like attempting to block toxic fans it turns into terrible drama. 

I don’t think there’s a good solution to this really. All I can say is to try to always be nice, patient and respectful of others. Try not to encourage acidic behaviour. With time, I expect Dream will get better at managing his fanbase too and maybe Dream team drama won’t be trending on twitter every single day. But maybe twitter’s the problem? It honestly feels like a terrible place for fandom to exist. Creators and fanart sure but actual discourse?

Adventure Setting:The Dreaming Weald

Setup: while the feywild spills over into most wild, ancient places, there are some stretches of the material plane that have been wholly suffused with the essence of fairyland, and the nature of what is “real” becomes soft and pliable as different realities mingle. 

The Dreaming Weald is just such a place, a storied stretch of Forrest untouched by any but the oldest elvan empires and run through with the deepst magic. Often travelers through the region don’t know they’ve stumbled into the weald until the path takes a wrong turn and suddenly directions like “left” or “right” or “down” come into question. Impossibilities flourish here: ponds hang above the ground, the trees press so low and dense that it feels as if one could be undergorund, you may encounter selfaware visions of people long thought lost. 

most travelers avoid the Dreaming Weald, knowing that to tarry too long among its distorted acres can lead one to slipping away forever into the lands of imagination. Others still seek out the Weald, looking to enjoy its impossible sights or claim a bit of its wonder for themselves. 

Adventure Hooks: 

Leaving behind her friends, family, and a good number of unfinished commissions, a distraught artist has run off to the Dreaming Weald looking for a way out of her creative fugue. Plenty of people are willing to pay the party to venture out to the Weald and retrieve her ( whether out of love, concern, or a desire to not see their investment wasted). When the party ventures out, they find that the artist has been reveling with the fey, and has forgotten her previous life, having unwittingly traded away her memories and burdens for a talent at bringing her paintings to life. The Fey are loath to give up their new “court artist”, so the party will either have to engage in a game of wits and wagers to get her freedom, or attempt to abduct her, risking fighting a whole army of painted guardians in doing so. 

The Borders of the Weald are expanding, and this worries the nobles who’s lands and estates may in a few years be swallowed by the land’s increasingly whimsical chaos. Taxes and levies cannot be raised when the roads your officials travel on begin to spiral off to nowhere, nor can the harvest be brought in if some stray curse gets into the village well turns every pesant into a goose. A druid must be found to curtail the weird and wild wilderness, and to reestablish the borders. 

Before the Weald was wild with magic, in a time of errant elf-knights and deepest lore, it was the domain of the Stag-Lord, a powerful enchanter who appears as a villain, monser, or obstacle in many folk stories that now pervade the region.  While no one tale captures the truth of the Stag-lord’s nature, all can agree that his grave lays at the center of the Forest: the trees having taken up his magic when their thirsting roots broke through his tomb and fed on the rich earth his body had become.   Some dabblers and dark practitioners make pilgrimage to his tomb, seeking to gain a little power for themselves, or to commune with this spirit on the curse-scented breeze.

On this day was my birthday, I turned 31. I think back and realize that my 30s has become the decade of self growth and the fruit of my development labor from my 20s.

Let me say this.... I’ve definitely come a long way, I’ve made plenty mistakes, and I’ve learned from them. My mistakes are my achievements. I rock them like badges on my vest. I learned to not allow them to hold me back but to give me the courage to be a better, stronger person.

⁣

But let’s not focus on just mistakes, let’s shed some light on the Good too. There were choices I made, things that I’ve done that were right! Because Your character and who you are no matter your mistakes are what truly define you. Shine light on that ⚡️

Everyday you should remind yourself of why you’re so amazing, even if it’s something as small as you simply wishing well for others, or helping someone, giving positive vibes or showing love! Maybe it’s something you accomplished for yourself you’ve held back on and finally just did it! Because that’s who you really are! You’re that magical unicorn 🦄 who beats adversity behind!
