I can't stop thinking about the news out of Palestine. Israel is sieging al Shifa hospital. Videos of people's limbs being severed off are haunting (graphic video tw). The hospital has ran out of fuel and 39 babies in incubators are fending for their lives by themselves, because Israel has stationed snipers around the hospital and is shooting all medical crew that walks into their sight.

First, the narrative was Israel would never bomb hospitals. Now, the hospitals are Hamas bases. Then, we respect journalists. Now, we have a fucking kill list of journalists because they are Hamas collaborators. First, we are not letting fuel in until the hostages are released. Now, we are not accepting the hostages back because that would stop our ground invasion and let Hamas win. And I could go on about every single lie they're making up. If you look up "Hamas rape" on google, the first link leads to Times of Israel saying Israel has found no forensic evidence of sexual violence, and only one eyewitness testimony out of 3.5k people attending the rave. If you Google "Hamas beheaded babies" the top links say they have no evidence for the claim besides word of mouth from extremist soldiers. Israeli extremists think about the ugliest goriest scene they can make out in their sick heads, tell that to a international journalist and they run away with it like it's gospel.

And children are being killed in the name of these lies. Thousands are being displaced in images that remind me of the pictures of Tantura 75 years ago, with their hands up so the tanks don't shoot them. Amputees are leaving the hospitals in wheelchairs hours after their surgeries because they are being shot at. Elders who survived the Nakba on 48 are having to walk towards Southern Gaza on foot (imagine walking from one end of your city to the other on foot), displaced again. People are cheering for the haunting images of white phosphorus bombs being dropped over Gaza. Gazan workers who were arrested in the West Bank are being thrust back into the bombings wearing numbered labels.

This is not normal. We are seeing the early stages of the settler colonial genocide of an indigenous population. Native leaders who have visited Gaza say its refugee camps look eerily like reservations. We can stop this. For the first time we are able to see wide scale accounts from the hands of the people suffering the genocide, and Israel is so scared of it they have cut all communications in Gaza.

This is our litmus test. I think we have never seen more clearly, with Palestine, Armenia, Congo and Sudan how colonialism has made our world a rotten place to live in.

The South African apartheid collapsed due to boycotts. We have to do everything in our power to stop Israel's hegemony. Even talking to a group of friends about Palestine changes the status quo. There's no world where we can live peacefully if Israel accomplishes their goals.

Keep yourself updated and share Palestinian voices. Muna El-Kurd said every tweet is like a treasure to them, because their voices are repressed on social media and even on this very app. Make it your action item to share something about the Palestinian plight everyday. Here are some resources:

You can participate in boycotts wherever you are in the world, through BDS guidelines. Don't be overwhelmed by gigantic boycott lists. BDS explicitly targets only a few brands which have bigger impact. You can stop consuming from as many brands as you want, though, and by all means feel free to give a 1 star review to McDonalds, Papa John, Pizza Hut, Burger King and Starbucks. Right now, they are focusing on boycotting the following:

Carrefour, HP, Puma, Sabra, Sodastream, Ahava cosmetics, Israeli fruits and vegetables

Push for a cultural boycott - pressure your favorite artist to speak out on Palestine and cancel any upcoming performances on occupied territory (Lorde cancelled her gig in Israel because of this. It works.)

If you can, participate in direct action or donate.

Palestine Action works to shut down Israeli weapons factories in the UK and USA, and have successfully shut down one of their firms in London.Some of the activists are going on trial and are calling for mobilizing on court.

Palestinian Youth Movement is organizing direct actions to stop the shipping of wars to Israel. Follow them.

Educate yourself. Read into Palestinian history and the occupation. You can't common sense people out of decades of propaganda. If your arguments crumble when a zionist brings up the "disengagement of Gaza", you have to learn more.

Read Decolonize Palestine. They have 15 minute reads that concisely explain the occupation (and its colonial roots) and debunk popular myths, including pinkwashing.

Read on Palestine. Here's an amazing masterpost.

Verso Book Club is giving out free books on Palestine (I personally downloaded Ten Myths about Israel by Ilan Pappe. If you still believe in the two states solution, this book by an Israeli professor debunks it).

Call your representatives. The Labour Party in the UK had an emergency meeting after several councilors threatened to resign if they didn't condemn Israeli war crimes. Calling to show your complaints works, even more if you live in a country that funds genocide.

By the way, you may have heard this, but shaun king's ig account got suspended.

This is probably your dream come true, but this still means palestinian posts disappearing from social media by the whims of meta. Also this happened after when mohamed al-kurd's twitter got banned. And after motaz said his ig got shadowbanned to hell and high waters... Is meta now progressing on the purge? What do we do?

I mean it's not my dream come true haha but I do hope people stop listening to him at least as an authority since he's a grifter who steals money.

The issue is for twitter, it's a separate company and the algorithm works differently than FB and IG. For Instagram, I know that saving/bookmarking posts will help, and sending posts that you think are important to people. I actually have always found the main feed on instagram annoying and just go to people's individual accounts to see if they updated so I would recommend doing that consistently.

For example, you could go to Bisan's account, then Anat International, then Motaz, then whoever else you want to check in on and like+share their posts.

For FB, I honestly don't know how to counter it that much. I remember in 2021, during Sheikh Jarrah and the May war on Gaza, I tried to post something with just the word "Palestine" and it straight up deleted the post right away. So like, intentional deletion based on a word. I haven't been on FB much since then so I don't know what it's like right now but it sounds like not much has changed.

I heard of 7amleh, which documents censorship of Palestinian speech online. You might wanna check them out, thought they're fairly new so I'm not sure what it is they do exactly.

More than two dozen Palestinian journalists working inside and outside of Gaza published a letter on Tuesday calling on American journalists to boycott the annual White House correspondents' dinner, citing the US military support for Israel's war in Gaza that has killed scores of Palestinian journalists.

“As Palestinian journalists, we urgently appeal to you, our colleagues globally, with a demand for immediate and unwavering action against the Biden administration's ongoing complicity in the systematic slaughter and persecution of journalists in Gaza," the letter said.

“For Palestinian journalists in Gaza, the blue press vest does not offer us protection, but rather functions as a red target,” the signatories write in their letter. Many of the letter's signatories chose to remain anonymous, out of fear their public signing of the letter could lead them to be targeted or killed by Israel's military. However, it includes several prominent journalists who have been covering Israel's assault on Gaza from inside the enclave.

Those names include Bisan Owda; Ali Jadallah; Hosam Salem; Mohammed Zaanoun; Ahmed El-Madhoun; and Mohamed Almasri. The letter also includes signatures from renowned journalists working outside of Gaza, such as Mariam Barghouti, Mohammed El Kurd, and Said Arikat, the Washington bureau chief for Al-Quds newspaper. Israel's war on Gaza began in October, after Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups launched an attack on southern Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking more than 200 people hostage.

Israel responded with a declaration of war and launched a devastating and indiscriminate bombing campaign followed by a ground invasion of Gaza that has killed more than 33,000 Palestinians. During this time, Israeli forces have also killed at least 125 journalists, which the letter says makes up 10 percent of Gaza's community of journalists. The letter points to the lack of coverage and attention paid to the killing of Gaza's journalists during Israel's war. CNN's Christine Amanpour recently stated that the problem with the coverage of the Gaza war was that "journalists are not on the ground in Gaza". The comment was met with outrage from Palestinian journalists who said the remark equated to an erasure of their work in Gaza. Amanpour quickly clarified that what she meant was there were no "independent, western journalists" in the enclave reporting on the war, but those comments were further criticised as asserting that Palestinian journalists are unable to accurately tell their stories.

“We cannot overlook the White House Correspondents' Dinner’s role in legitimizing and whitewashing the same deadly propaganda and policies coming out of the Biden administration during its daily press briefings by bringing journalists together to sit and laugh with the President, while ignoring his complicity in the assassinations and targeting of Palestinian journalists in Gaza,” Nasser Abu Baker, president of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, said in a statement.

“For our members and colleagues in Gaza, we, the Palestinian Journalist Syndicate, call upon our fellow journalists to boycott the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Let absence speak louder than any words we might utter at that table.”

I’m out of the loop, who’s calling Mohammed a normaliser and why?! Him and his sister have done so much for the cause and are at constant risk as a result of it.

Too answer a very fringe set of normalizer accusers started out bc he was found out to be a supporter of al qaws which is a palestinian lgbt organization. Al qaws have openly said that their freedom is not complete without the complete dismantling of israel and have repeatedly criticized those that participate in normalization like this past article ill link below. I have to be real and say its homophobia wrapped up in these random little observations "oh he's on this radio show and this interview and published here and did this photo shoot." Normalizing relations means taking apart of events or orgs that will platform israelis and perform dialogue which portrays palestinian liberation that can be fought "together" by israelis and palestinians. It can be also simply interacting with ppl who do that and you can be rightly criticized for your associations because you are giving those people credibility and therefore normalizing. People do tend to use the word normalizer for people who have big platforms or "internet personalities" and rightly criticize khaled baydoun etc but again Mohammed El Kurd never wanted this he has not commercialized the cause has not presented himself as a leader and is continously organizing

Like u said the El Kurds being at risk is exactly why the accusation is so funny to me. normalizer has the connotation of being a sellout, someone doing it for the fame and he clearly does not like the platform he was given it just fell on him and publishing articles in the nation is not the same thing as normalizing? Mohammed el kurd writes articles that do not fall in line with normalizing views like "jewish settlers stole my house. It's not my fault they're jewish" and in response to someone asking him at a college event he was presenting at "what will happen to the israelis" he said "I truly don't give a fuck" or something like that lol. At the end of the day the accusations don't have alot of weight and so I turn away from them and just pretend they're not there

#also the iran situation #after jina or mahsa amini was killed he was liking posts that supported the protests which were organic ppl were upset about this #girl whos death came out of this hijab law and likely targeted for being kurdish #but it was framed like 'oh hes liking the regime change people'#its dumb

The US is betraying the interests of the Kurds

The sheikhs of the tribal unions "Bagara" Ali Sultan, "Jabur" Mohammed Muslim and "Tai" Nayal al-Naif, who immigrated to Europe since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, arrived in Trans-Euphrates in early August with the assistance of American intelligence services. The purpose of their visit is to establish cooperation between the command of the International Anti-Terrorist Coalition and the Arab population without the participation of Kurdish representatives. This became known in the Autonomous Administration of the North and East of Syria, according to a Kurdish source. He also said that the Kurds are deeply concerned about the loss of confidence in the United States. During the years of the American occupation of the region, they got used to the fact that the "masters" made them their only representatives in the Trans-Euphrates and are not ready to part with this status. However, the "masters" believe that the Kurds are no longer able to serve as a full-fledged tool for the implementation of their goals and are looking for a replacement.

Israeli forces have detained the leader of the #SaveSheikhJarrah campaign, Muna al-Kurd (as well as Zuheir al-Rajabi, the head of Batn al-Hawa neighborhood committee), after raiding and searching her family's home in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem.

Her father has said that they were also searching for her twin brother Mohammed al-Kurd (@m7mdkurd), who along with his sister, have been one of the most vocal Palestinian voices in occupied Jerusalem and have brought major awareness to the on-going ethnic cleansing through all the reporting on their social media and the interviews they have done with western media.

Their arrest and the arrest of many more journalists was only done to silence their voices and this movement, especially now since another racist zionist march is scheduled to happen in Jerusalem this Thursday. Now more than ever we need to fight for him, his sister and all of Palestinians living under this brutal occupation.

700 Palestinians were killed in the last 24 hours and the airstrikes are more violent each night. Gaza's hospitals have fuel left for two more days. Israel only allowed aid into Gaza on the condition they didn't carry fuel. The Indonesian hospital has shut down already, because doctors have no supplies and no choice but to let the wounded die. They're calling it a collapse but the term doesn't do it justice.

Over a 100 incubator babies are at risk. There are 50.000 pregnant women in Gaza right now, and 5.500 due to give birth this month. Menstruating people are taking pills in order to stop their periods, because they do not have pads or water to maintain hygiene. Surgeons are operating without anesthesia. Water is not reaching Gazans because there's no electricity or fuel for water pumps.

There's no excuse for this. Israel justifies the airstrikes by saying they want to destroy Hamas infrastructure and release the hostages, but they have refused to negotiate for their release. Hamas informed Israel they wanted to release two elderly women without anything in return, and Israel refused. Netanyahu said they wouldn't take their own civilians back because it was "mendacious propaganda." When the hostages were finally released, Netanyahu prohibited the hospital from giving press releases. Yocheved Lifshitz went behind their backs and talked to the press anyway, saying she was treated very well by Hamas, but the government abandoned them. They're being used as straw men. Israel is conditioning the entry of fuel to the release of hostages and yet, according to The Wall Street Journal, when Hamas proposed to exchange 50 hostages for fuel they denied. IDF officials have said they fear the release of more hostages because that might withhold the order to their ground invasion. They do not care as long as they can use the hostages as a pretext for their slaughtering.

There's a turning tide for Palestine in public support. Support for Israel was built through decades of propaganda and we are making a dent into it. Zionists are desperate, holding zoom meetings to promote zionism, but we have to do so much more. We have to shame people in power into supporting the Palestinian cause.

Keep yourself updated and share Palestinian voices, looking to inform yourself from the sources. Palestinians have asked of us only that we share, tweet and post, over and over. Muna El-Kurd said every tweet is like a treasure to them, because their voices are repressed on social media and even on this very app. Make it your action item to share something about the Palestinian plight everyday. If you can, participate in direct action or donate. Palestine Action works to shut down Israeli weapons factories in the UK and USA, and have successfully shut down one of their firms in London. Some of the activists are going on trial and are calling for mobilizing on court.

Call your representatives. The Labour Party in the UK had an emergency meeting after several councilors threatened to resign if they didn't condemn Israeli war crimes. Calling to show your complaints works, even more if you live in a country that funds genocide.

"At least eight people were injured in a New Orleans shooting early Sunday morning, the city's police department said in a tweet. The victims were brought to local hospitals. California: More than 600 earthquakes near Mexico border since Saturday (CNN)

"The quakes were centered near Calipatria, along the San Andreas Fault and about 30 miles north of the Mexican border, the USGS map shows. The area is not heavily populated and has been known to have "swarms in the past," USGS seismologist Paul Caruso told CNN on Saturday. Four of the quakes measured greater than magnitude 4, and 29 were greater than magnitude 3, Baldwin said."

There is mounting worry in Ankara that the incoming Joe Biden administration will be less indulgent of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s bellicosity, which has seen Turkey mount three separate incursions against the Syrian Kurds since 2016, send troops and Syrian mercenaries to Libya and Azerbaijan, and lock horns with Greece in Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean waters. The biggest concern is that, unlike President Donald Trump, Biden will not shield Turkey from sanctions over its purchase of Russian S-400 missiles and for Turkish state lender Halkbank’s paramount role in facilitating Iran’s multibillion-dollar illicit oil for gold trade.

“The calculation is that making nice with Israel will win them favor with the Biden team,” said a Western official speaking not for attribution. “It’s like Lucy and the football; it works each time,” he said, referring to a recurring theme in the world-famous cartoon strip “Peanuts.”...

In a further climb down, Ankara has now reached out to Saudi Arabia. Erdogan spoke to Saudi King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud Nov. 21 ahead of a G20 summit chaired by Saudi Arabia. Turkish officials quoted by Middle East Eye said Erdogan sought his help to end an unofficial boycott of Turkish goods that is beginning to take a toll. Turkey’s exports to the kingdom fell 15% in September compared with the same period last year, the third straight month of decline, Bloomberg reported.

Relations between the two countries took a nosedive following the gruesome Oct. 2018 murder of dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. Turkey led a noisy campaign to expose Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s alleged role in the affair. Last week a Turkish court added six new defendants to the 20 Saudis who are being tried in absentia — including two close aides of the prince — for their alleged participation in killing and then dismembering Khashoggi.

Erdogan had spurned Salman's entreaties to bury the story in the days following Khashoggi’s death. The prince's global image has been sullied beyond repair, with the United Nations and the CIA pointing to his complicity. Yet he remains stronger than ever with many Saudis rallying behind their prince in the face of what they see as a global conspiracy.

Turkey’s goal was to prevent the prince’s accession to the throne, reckons Ali Shihabi, a New York-based expert on the Middle East and the co-author of “The Saudi Kingdom: Between the Jihadi Hammer and the Iranian Anvil.”

“What the Khashoggi affair exposed beyond all was Erdogan’s lack of understanding of how the Saudi succession works,” Shihabi told Al-Monitor in a telephone interview. Moreover, the notion that any wedge could be driven between the king and his son was never realistic.

While the Saudis are open to bringing relations to a “level of cordiality,” Shihabi contended, the steady drip of incriminating evidence against the crown prince through the international media “left a very bad taste.”

"I don’t see that mistrust of Erdogan disappearing any time soon. Not before Erdogan moderates his regional fantasies,” Shihabi predicted.

Tensions are mounting in northern Syria as Damascus started moving its forces to face the Turkish troops that are carrying out an operation against the Kurds in the area, state news agency Sana reports.

The Kurdish-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have reached an agreement with Damascus, which will see the Syrian government troops arriving in the northern Kobani region, Mohammed Shaheen, deputy chairman of Euphrates Region, said earlier.

The Syrians will deploy to Kobani within 48 hours, Lebanese broadcaster al-Mayadeen reported. RT’s sources in the region also confirmed the reports.
