Just to make a point, every time I finished a panel of this I would export it as a PNG on the perceptual setting and use it as a color reference for the next panel
IT'S BAD
PLEASE CHECK YOUR COLOR SETTINGS
EDIT: If you're still having problems, it might help to switch from "Save/Save as" to "Export (as a) Single Layer". Just. Make SURE the box labeled "Expression Color" is set to RGB. I've been messing with this all day, and it looks like this combination of settings will allow exported PNGs to maintain their colors perfectly. To you. So far both Discord and Toyhouse still only display desaturated images and I cannot for the life of me figure out why

a reminder
i haven't been posting much here in a few months. part of that has been work-related - putting a lot of my time into illustration projects that i can't share, & also doing a lot of prep for a local Hanukkah market i both co-organize & vend at (which happened this past weekend). i tend to use this space as a sort of less-formal gallery, only posting work i consider "finished" or reblogging things related to projects i'm involved in. in the past i've been more talkative & more apt to share WIPs & personal things on my other social media (Twitter, Instagram, Bluesky), which is still true even though i've had to take several steps back from some of those platforms lately for my mental health.
all this is to say that if you only follow me here, you haven't seen me make any kind of statement about the crisis in Israel/Palestine, because that isn't how i've been using this particular site. i do not think of my art as apolitical & i am not secretive about my politics, but over & over again, i find myself followed by people who appear to be shocked to learn that i am proudly & actively anti-Zionist. i have been for my entire adult life. as a Jewish artist making visibly Jewish work, this puts a target on me, not only from garden-variety antisemites but also from fellow Jews who feel "betrayed" by my solidarity with Palestine & threatened by my vocal opposition to colonialism, apartheid & genocidal violence (as well as the very idea of ethnostates). in fact, the harassment & abuse i receive online is primarily from Zionists, which is not something i would have ever expected with so many white supremacists & neo-Nazis crawling all over the current internet!
so, this is just me cleaning house now & again. i don't feel the need to post signs shooing away folks who should be getting that message very easily from my work (if you hate queer, trans, fat, disabled & Jewish people i truly don't know why you'd follow me), but it's very easy for Zionists to see much of my Jewish-focused work & decide they like it, only to turn verbally abusive when they realize i don't share their views. here's your sign! if you want to bail, do so quietly & civilly like an adult please. thank you.

Artists, please put your warnings for flashing lights/colours BEFORE the video. Tumblr let's you choose which comes first, it's not helping anyone if you see the flashing light before the warning about them, and you have to have the flashing lights on your screen to be able to read said warning about the lights they've already seen.
It doesn't affect me, but this is legitimately dangerous to some folks, some of whom are probably in your audience if you've got a decent sized following here. If a flashing video makes them ill, triggers a sezuire, or worse (it can and does kill people), they probably aren't going to hang around and tell you - and if they do, they're doing it at risk to themselves. You shouldn't expect them to.
Ideally, the best and safest way to post this kind of content (at least here) is to put the warning at the top, a screenshot/still frame of the video underneath (so people can still see your awesome art while mindlessly scrolling/browsing) And put the actual video after a cut/read more button. But if you're not going to do that, at least put the warning first!
I know it's hard getting traction as an artist online, people have short attention spans and we're told to put the most attention-grabbing stuff first. I know how much it sucks to work on something for hours/days/weeks/months and it gets nothing, so you want to do everything you can to give your work a fighting chance in a sea of content. But getting your work to a few extra eyes is not worth hurting people.

hey, so i found out that these hate asks about "unoriginal characters" seem to stem from either a bot attacking artists or a chain of hate directed at us by some weirdos.
either way, it's meaningless what they say and i'd like to call this a psa: i'm not the only one who's received hate messages about my characters and if you or anyone you know receives them, know that it's nothing but empty words spread around to trigger a reaction.
finally, i wanted to add that whatever anyone says about your characters can suck it, because your ocs are yours and nobody has the right to say anything vicious about them. it's okay that they don't appeal to someone, they never will appeal to everybody, but what's most important is that they appeal to you. you create them for yourself, not others.
take care of yourself, everyone, and thank you all for the support hinted my way yesterday. at the time i didn't know that this is just a shitty way to target artists and i had to take some time off to process what happened. during that time, your words made it a bit easier to handle, so thank you a lot. = 7 =)

once again i am reminding artists to put your USERNAME on ALL your art. NOT JUST A PERSONAL SYMBOL. it needs to be something people can READ and TYPE in order to find you!
otherwise, when your stuff gets stolen, the only way anyone can get it taken down or credit you is if they are already super familiar with your work, which isn't very helpful!
FOR THE LOVE OF ART, PUT YOUR NAME ON YOUR WORK!!!

PSA: INPRNT IS FAILING TO PAY ARTISTS
...and they are apparently not doing much to fix it. this has been going on since at least May. inprnt has been telling individual artists who go to them for help that there is a known problem with payouts that needs to be fixed manually. they have not publicly acknowledged it or notified their userbase. some people seem to get a fix from support pretty quickly, others are just ignored or left to languish. so the result here is: a lot of artists are not getting paid and think they are alone in this.
here is a thread of receipts(tm) going around today, which are unfortunately also on the Bad Bird Website. lots of quote tweets and replies telling the same story, and if you search around, there's been a growing number of complaints over the last few months.
so, if you have prints on there, it's probably time to start asking some pointed questions and making some serious demands. they've been letting this fester for months and they clearly need a push. if you're thinking of joining... maybe look at other options or wait and see how this plays out.
(disclaimer: i am not on inprnt so this does not personally affect me; i'm just pissed off on behalf of my peers and i think artists and customers should know this is going on)

In case anyone else struggles with this:
You don't have to attach a disclaimer that your art is imperfect to every piece you make. You're allowed to like something you made and say that you're proud of it without having to acknowledge that weird perspective or messed up hand. It's not dishonest to say that your art is good while it has mistakes. You don't have to list every mistake you made to be allowed to say that you like the piece 'despite' them. It's not your job to inform people of everything that's wrong, just in case that they would 'mistakenly' like your art otherwise
Mistakes and good art aren't mutually exclusive, you're not a liar for liking your art that is imperfect

PSA for who wants to start a career in the art industry or who wants to learn art in general:
Please, learn how to work by using your shoulder, not your wrist. I'm 22 and this is the third time I sprain my wrist because of overworking, first 2 times back when I was still in art school and I had finals.
I'm an idiot and I'm paying the consequences for my idiocy. Don't be like me.

So I haven’t seen this on here yet, so I wanted to give you guys a heads up in case a Castiel reveal hasn’t been done yet. Kind of a long post, but important.
I got a fun email from Redbubble tonight telling me that they are now going to start skimming off the top of my profits, starting in 12 days. This is a new, separate fee for accounts, and frankly it’s enough to make me close my shop on there.
Right now, Redbubble acts as a print-on-demand service. You upload your images and choose the products you want it available on, and they take care of the production and shipping. It’s hands-off and passive income for artists who want to offer their stuff on a range of items without the burden of ordering a lot of product to stock and fulfill on their own. For this service, they charge a base amount for each product, and then the artist sets a percentage *over* that price for their profit.
If I’m reading this new policy correctly, they’re going to start taking out a percentage of my profits that’s based on how much I make using their platform. It also looks like since I don’t make a lot, they’re going to be taking out a higher percentage, which will further delay any payouts I *do* get.
Don’t get me wrong, I know everything is getting more expensive and I saw that their profits were down in 2022, so they’re clearly trying to make up the difference somewhere. But rather than increasing the base cost of those products, they’re going after the people who sell on their platform, which, frankly, is going to lose them a LOT of artists.
I’m sure that in a few days after they start getting a lot of complaints they’ll say something along the lines of “Artists are free to adjust the percentage over the base costs to choose their own profit margins” but I’m not going to charge $7 + shipping for a 2″ diecut sticker. No one wants to buy a $40 tshirt from a small artist when it’s still a mass-produced item. I don’t have the funds or storage space to order in bulk and fulfill orders like that on my own.
Anyway, I’ve been looking into alternatives and asking around to see what other people recommend instead. If you’re interested in what people are saying, this was my Twitter thread, there’ve already been some good suggestions on it.
Also this is a good time to remind people that the best way to support the artists you like is to reblog/retweet their works when you can, tip them if you’re able, and share their commission info when they’re open for commissions.

Hey so someone just reblogged my art to be super rude, please don't reblog my art just to be mean. And don't do it without letting me defend myself. I'm super disappointed in that person, who supposedly had been following me for a long time.
