a brief guide on drawing amblyopic eyes
(red is the unaffected eye, staring forwards, blue is the amblyopic eye)
more below the cut, all text
now, amblyopia is a pretty wide range of eye drifting which may cause anything from very mild eye drift to extreme drifting and even blindness. typically one eye is far weaker than the other, or even technically blind due to being ignored by the brain. it often causes blurred vision and poor depth perception as well. these are the most common depictions of the most common one eyed amblyopia issues, though crossed eyes and eyes pointing in different directions appears in some as well. it can be caused by injury, but most commonly is a condition seen from birth.
i personally have extropia. i find the easiest way to properly depict amblyopia is to give the stronger eye (seen here in red, looking forward) a focus. the lazy eye typically will not be focused, no matter the direction it drifts. i should note, for some, amblyopia gets worse when tired (like me), becoming more pronounced. typically, however, it doesnt cause harmful side effects beyond stigma. head tilting, squinting, and closing one eye is a common sign.
the pupils do NOT change size. that is a concern and should be brought up as an emergency unless the patient has always displayed this and is already diagnosed with a reason as to why the pupil may be of a different size. the pupils react to light the same, but the affected eye tends not to move with the stronger eye.

For the glowy effect I just used the same colour of the light and bounce light and just used an airbrush over it ^^

You ask, I deliver 👀👀✨ @an4mations
Remember that this is just my own personal take/discovery and that it might not be 100% accurate! I'm still learning after all ^^

For people new to art and might not know what the diff terms mean...
Hue -> Colour (basically the original colours like red, orange, etc.)
Value -> How dark or light something is

What do you do to get that “soft” yummy look on your work? It’s beautiful!
Thank you so much! Though I don't really know what to answer 😖 I'll be covering a bit of everything I think might be what you're talking about
But if you're talking about the glowy soft look, I made a tutorial here to explain how I did it.
Otherwise I think it's mostly my choice in colors, and to explain it a bit I always use one big saturated color and had contrast with adding more pale or darker colors :)
Now for the "yummy" /gummy look (pictures below)...I might do a tuto another day lmao 🍭🤸 hope this helps!

i’ve discovered a revolutionary new way to shade my stuff and it has allowed me to make shit like this look so so good
basically what you do is you first draw a thing
THEN. pick a solid color and shade where you want with it. don’t worry about if it fits the color scheme or not
after this, hit ‘select’ on the solid color shading layer. then hide it. go back to the coloring layer.
hit “copy and paste”
then you darken the color of the copied layer in whatever color you want! this makes it so that you don’t have to go hunting for the perfect colors for shading since they’ll all work together like how they worked together in the original coloring layer
after this you can mess around with specific areas, make it more painty by blurring and adding more/different colors, etc. i just find it to be a very handy way to shade!
you can also use it to create highlights in a similar way. i really like going in with a paintbrush smudge tool and making stuff look really painted, but this also works really well as a starting point just for doing flat shading and highlighting. highly recommend messing around with this method, it’s been very helpful for me!
