Swap - Jessie Fleming/Reader
just a little something for you guys that i've had an idea about for way too long (thank the USWNT v Canada game for this cause it made me remember how much i love Jessie)
prompt: Jessie and R have a long standing tradition of trading jerseys, but someone gets in the way of that.
warnings: none

Tumblr media
(Y/N) POV
I grinned as I found Jessie in the crowd. I knew that the game didn’t actually end the way either of us wanted, but at least neither of us could be that upset since we didn’t lose.
“Swap with me?”
My eyes darted away from where they had locked onto Jessie to turn to Eriksson. I tilted my head in confusion. I had never actually talked to Eriksson before other than some light trash talk on the field.
“You want my jersey?”
Eriksson softly chuckled but nodded.
One of the best centerbacks in the game wanted my jersey.
It was still surreal that there were other players out there who would seek me out to get my jersey.
“Well, I feel like it would be fitting considering how much trouble you give me during these derby games and when you play against Sweden.”
“Oh.”
I still didn’t make a move to take my jersey off though. My eyes darted to where Jessie was talking to a couple of her teammates.
“So, how many of her jerseys do you have, and you still haven’t told her how you feel?”
My eyes snapped back to where Eriksson was standing. She was watching me, but I knew that she was aware of who I was staring at.
“I don’t know,” I shrugged as I ducked my head. It honestly was too high of a number to count now. We had gotten into the habit of trading our jerseys at least once a year when we played each other, and, honestly, even when we didn’t play against each other nationally, we still saved each other a jersey from the year. “We just kind of started as teenagers and never stopped. It’s our little tradition now when we play each other the first time of the year to swap.”
“How about this,” Eriksson started, causing me to look over at her, “you go tell Jessie how you actually feel about her, and I’ll wait until the next time we play to swap with you.”
I huffed a little at that. It wasn’t that I didn’t mind telling the world about Jessie and me, but Jessie was such a private person that I didn’t mind keeping our relationship from the world. Besides, our family and most of our friends knew.
Well, at least most of my friends knew. If Jessie’s captain didn’t even know then I wasn’t sure who all on her club team knew. I didn’t even know if any of them knew.
“I’d much rather just break tradition.”
Eriksson raised her eyebrows at that.
It wasn’t often that I would turn down a challenge. But if Jessie’s own teammates didn’t know, then I definitely didn’t want to risk them and the fans finding out about our relationship because I took Eriksson’s challenge.
“Didn’t think it was like you to turn down a challenge.”
“Not usually, no,” I said as I tugged my jersey over my head. “But there are some things that are better left the way they are. My friendship with Jessie isn’t one I’m going to risk for a jersey.”
“Wouldn’t she be more upset that you’re not trading with her?”
I shrugged at that. Jessie probably would be upset with me initially, but I figured she would probably get over it pretty quickly since I knew neither of us would be required to go in tomorrow. We always had the day after derbies off.
“I’ll trade with her next derby. And maybe you could convince Harder to trade with me the game after that?”
“I’ll mention it to Pernille.”
I grinned at that as Eriksson finally pulled her own jersey off. I had been wanting to trade with Pernille Harder for quite some time, but I never had gathered the courage to ask the forward I looked up to. I handed mine over to her as she handed her jersey to me. I wasn’t surprised either when we were asked to pose for a picture with each other.
Once the picture was over, I shook hands with Eriksson.
“You should still tell her,” Eriksson said as she pulled me closer to her. “I think you might be surprised with how she feels about you too.”
“We’ll see.”
Eriksson gave me a pat on the back before she was off towards Harder. I sighed as I shook my head. I turned to try and find Jessie; I wasn’t surprised to find her still with Nimah as they talked with Lotte and Leah. I grinned as I weaseled my way in between Leah and Jessie, but it dropped a bit as Jessie’s eyes darted down to the jersey in my hands before looking at me.
I didn’t pay too much attention to the conversation that the three English players were having as it was obviously more about their next camp. I nudged Jessie before nodding my head towards the tunnels.
Jessie glanced at Nimah before she nodded. I smiled a bit wider at that as the two of us split off with waves to our respective teammates. Jessie stayed quiet as the two of us headed toward the tunnel.
“So, my place or yours?” I asked. Jessie tilted her head to the side as she looked at me. “Well, normally the winner takes the loser home, but we drew.”
Jessie slowly nodded at that.
“Didn’t realize you still wanted to come home with me.”
My brow furrowed at that. I had no real idea why Jessie would think that I didn’t want to go home with her.
“Considering you swapped your jersey with someone else. Thought you of all people would keep with tradition.”
“That’s not fair.”
“You swapped with someone else.”
I rolled my eyes at that.
“Don’t roll your eyes at me.”
I huffed because I was sure that we were attracting quite a bit of unwanted attention from fans. I grabbed onto Jessie’s arm as I dragged her into the tunnel finally before heading toward a more secluded area of the Emirates.
“Look, I did it for you.”
“Doing it for me would have been swapping with me.”
“Are you jealous?”
Jessie scoffed at that as she began to shake her head.
“You are!”
“Am not!”
“Are so!”
“You can sleep on the couch then.”
I rolled my eyes at that. I knew that Jessie wouldn’t actually make me sleep on the couch, especially since we hadn’t been able to spend time with each other in the same place since the winter break. Facetime and phone calls only went so far.
“She wanted me to tell you how I felt,” I admitted. Jessie raised an eyebrow at that. “Eriksson. I told her it was tradition for us to switch jerseys and she told me that I could switch with you if I told you how I felt. I didn’t want to put you in the spot where you either had to out our relationship to your teammates if you haven’t told them or where you had to act like you rejected me. I know you want to keep us private from the public eye. So, I figured I could just swap with Eriksson this time and we’ll swap next time.”
“I get it the next time though,” Jessie said as she poked at my chest, “and I guess you can sleep in the bed with me since you did it to make sure that our relationship stayed out of the public eye.”
I grinned at that.
“Does that mean I finally get my kiss from you?”

rest/leah williamson
*leah williamson x fem!reader *the word 'rest' is simply not included in leah's vocabulary *tiny argument and mentions of her torn acl at the beginning but happy end :)
*2.75k words
.................................
"I tore my acl." Those were definitely not the words I wanted to hear from Leah when I walked into her room. I had watched her limp off the pitch during the match and I wasn't able to concentrate on the rest of it. I had to wait until she was in the hospital to see her because the security wouldn't let me. "She's my best friend, she needs me!" didn't really change their mind.
So I waited three hours in my apartment, car keys in one hand, phone in the other. I almost dropped my phone when it rang and immediately accepted the call. "Hello?" I tried to hide the worry in my voice but it was still very present. "Hello is this y/n y/l/n?" An unfamiliar voice answered. "Yes, that's me. Who is this?" Maybe it wasn't the call I was expecting. "I'm a nurse at the St. Marys Hospital in London and I'm calling for Leah Williamson. She would've called herself but she has to undergo an MRI at the moment. I'm calling you because your number was marked as the one to call if something happened and I think she really needs someone to be by her side." I felt my heart drop further and further while the nurse talked. Leah had to undergo an MRI by herself and I was probably the only person that knew that she was terrified of those machines. Plus, an MRI was not a good sign for her knee. "Okay, thank you for calling me. I'll be there in 15 minutes." I hung up and just stared at my phone. What if she really tore her acl? What if she couldn't play football for the rest of the year? That would be pure torture for her and it would absolutely destroy her not only physically but mentally. She worked so hard to be selected for the World Cup and wore the captain armband with pride every single time. I had to be there for her through all of it. I stood up and drove to the hospital as fast as I could.
.................................
"Excuse me? I'm here to see Leah Williamson. A nurse called me earlier saying that-"
"Ah yes, you are miss y/l/n right?"
"Yes, yes that's me."
"Miss Williamson is currently staying in room 204 which is just across the corridor on the right side." She pointed towards the direction and I thanked her before searching for the right room. 200, 202, 204. There it was. I took a deep breath. I had to be calm now, I had to pull myself together for Leah.
I knocked three times and heard her response soon after. "Come in." So I did. The first thing I saw as I entered were her jersey and her shorts, neatly folded on a chair at the other end of the room. I took a few steps towards her bed but she only looked at me when I stood directly next to her. "I tore my acl." Her eyes were bloodshot and I could hear in her voice that she already cried. "Lee, I-"
"No. Please don't say anything. I don't want to hear your encouragements and how everything's going to be fine! It's not! I'm not able to play in Australia and I'm gonna let the whole team down! It's not going to be fine!" Her voice became louder and louder while she talked and she screamed the last sentence. I was well aware that this anger was not directed towards me but more towards the fact that this happened to her, now, and that she couldn't do anything about it. So instead of telling her that, I hugged her tight. I could feel her tense muscles relaxing at my touch and she just gave in to her feelings. "Why did it have to be me? Why now?" She said in between sobs, her voice barely above a whisper. "I don't know Leah, I'm so sorry." I just held her and rubbed her back comfortingly while she cried.
.................................
This whole situation happened over two months ago. Leah was now past the surgery and had started rehab. It was going well but one thing bothered me extremely. "Leah?" I stopped the episode I was watching and sat up from the sofa. The apartment was completely silent now that the tv had stopped. "Lee?" I went upstairs and knocked on her bedroom door. "Yes?" I opened the door and was met by Leah standing in front of her closet, only dressed in shorts and a bra, holding up a dress and a blazer. My eyes instantly moved from her well trained body to the floor, not wanting her to feel uncomfortable. "Oh hi y/n. What's up?"
"I, eh- I called you from down stairs. Wanted to know what I should make for dinner."
"Oh right. You-" She turned around to face me and saw me looking down, embarrassment unfortunately still clearly written on my face. "You can look at me y'know?"
"Oh, I just- I didn't know if-"
"y/n, we're living together. We're best friends and room mates. I'm absolutely not bothered by you looking at me and it does not make me feel uncomfortable. Trust me." I lifted my head and her piercing blue eyes looked straight into mine. My cheeks immediately turned a bit redder but I tried to ignore it, hoping that she didn't notice. Unknown to me, she did and she wasn't upset about it one bit. "So, dinner. What should I make?"
"Actually, I'm going out this evening. You only have to cook for yourself."
"What? You're going out? Again? With who and where?"
"With Alex, she invited me as her plus one to this event and-"
"Lee you can not possibly be serious right now."
"What do you mean?"
"Leah, you had your surgery two months ago and only started rehab, It's going well, yes, but the doctor still said that you have to take things slow especially going out for so long. You already met up with over ten different people in not even two weeks! You have to rest and give your knee a break, please."
"Oh and you suddenly care about that? So you don't want me to return to my normal life and just have fun with my friends? You want me to stay home and just do nothing apart from the rehab? What great best friend you are!"
I tried my best to stay calm, not wanting to start an argument at this moment.
"That's not what I said and you know that. I just don't want you overwork your knee and set you back in you rehab because we both know that that's the last thing you would want right now. You just have to accept that your life is not the same as before right now but-"
"I know that it's not the same! I had to actually come to terms with the change, you didn't! You could just continue your life like nothing happened because nothing happened to you! You didn't tear your acl, you didn't have to undergo surgery, you don't have to go to rehab four times a week because your life didn't change one bit!" I did not expect her to start yelling at me. I just stood there and didn't move, scared that she would just snap again. I did not deserve any of those accusations and I was totally aware of that.
"You know what? Go to your event. Why don't you just stay at Alex' house for that matter? So you two can just party all night long and forget about everything."
I saw in Leah's eyes that she knew she had overstepped a line. "y/n-" She took a step forward and reached for my hand but I stepped back.
"No. You don't get to do that Leah. I know that your life is hard right now but I'm doing everything I can to help and support you. I cook for you, I drive you everywhere, I go to rehab with you because you don't want to feel alone and I even started to work from home just so you don't have to feel lonely in our apartment! And you know why I do that? Because I love you okay? I love you Leah and I would do everything for you, even tear my own acl just so you have someone who feels what you had to feel! I love you way more than I should and I'm sorry that I care about your health and your wellbeing so much."
With those words I left her room and stormed into mine, which was just across from hers. I slammed the door shut before she could even think about following me. Hot tears streamed over my cheeks as I sat down on the edge of my bed. Leah and I rarely argued which I was extremely thankful for. And normally we always apologized to each other minutes after it enden because we couldn't stand the thought of being mad at one another. But not this time. This fight was the biggest one we've had and I knew that it wouldn't just be solved by saying sorry.
Thinking about the fight, I realized what I said to her. Did I actually confess my feelings to her in an argument? Oh god. I let myself fall onto my bed and just wanted to turn back time. How could I be so stupid and let my emotions get the best of me?
.................................
About half an hour later I heard Leah's door open. I could hear her stop in front of my door and I imagined her standing there, only a few meters away from me, contemplating what to do or say next. Then she knocked. "y/n?" I couldn't get myself to answer and just continued to stare at my ceiling. At least I had stopped crying now. "I- fuck. I just wanted to tell you that I'm sorry. That argument escalated way too fast and I- I don't even know what I wanna say. I'm sorry. I'm going now, Alex is waiting outside. Call me tomorrow, please."Her voice broke and I could hear that she was as close to crying as I was. And yet, I didn't answer. She was allowed to do whatever she wanted and I was not going to stop her. I listened to her steps as she walked downstairs, struggled to put on her shoes and finally left the house. She didn't slam the door like I did, she closed it carefully, like everything was normal. Except it wasn't. I had this weird feeling like something heavy was laying on my chest and I couldn't breathe properly. Maybe it was good that she left, maybe that was what we needed. A watery smile appeared on my lips when I thought about it. Who was I even kidding? I already missed her even though she only left 10 minutes ago. How pathetic was that? I slowly made my way out of my bed and carefully opened the door as if someone was still here that I could possibly bother. I took the same steps down stairs that Leah took only a few moments ago. The tv was still on pause so I just sat down and continued to watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S aimlessly. Just when I thought about calling Keira to tell her about everything that had happened, I heard someone opening the door. Who was that? The only person who had a spare key was Keira and the last time I checked she was in Barcelona. My eyes were fixed on the door. The remote In my right hand, I was ready to throw it at- "Leah?" I lowered my hand and looked at her confused. "What the fuck are you doing here? You're supposed to go out with Alex." My confusion was replaced by slight anger as I recalled the events from earlier. "Oh y/n, I- I didn't expect you to be downstairs. I thought-"
"What are you doing here Leah?"
She closed the door behind here and took her shoes off before she came to sit on the couch next to me. I turned so I could face her and watched her carefully as she placed a bag on the small table next to us. "Please let me talk y/n. I need to apologize to you."
I nodded, signaling her to continue and that I was listening.
"Okay so, I need to tell you that I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said any of the things that I said earlier because you don't deserve it. You did everything you could for me and I took it for granted which it's absolutely not. You didn't have to do that and yet you still did because you care for me. You stayed by my side during the time before the surgery, encouraged me right before it and were the first to visit me afterwards. You helped me come home and made me feel more at home than I ever felt before. I want to thank you for that. It might take more than just this apology but I'm willing to do everything for you that you did for me."
"Leah-"
"No, I'm not finished." She took my hands in hers and gently stroke her thumb over the back of my hand.
"During those couple months, I could always count on you, you were always there for me. You made me feel things I never felt before. I'm not the best at expressing my emotions and I think you're aware of that." I chuckled and a small smile made its way onto her face. "But this is different. Every time you drove me somewhere, rehab, the store, literally anywhere and put your hand on my thigh to comfort me, it felt like small fireworks exploded in my whole body. I had no idea why that was the case but I just always wanted to be close to you. Every single touch, every single look, every single hug wasn't enough because I wanted to feel you close the entire time. What I'm trying to say is, I think I fell for you. No, scratch that. I'm madly in love with you y/n and when you told me that you felt the same in my room, my brain just couldn't process the fact that you actually said that." She let out a slight chuckle and looked directly into my eyes. "I like you too y/n."
"I- wow. I did not expect that. Are you serious?"
"One hundred twenty percent." I smiled and leaned forward to hug her. "Thank you Lee, I really appreciate it." I felt her place a kiss on my temple and my heart swell at that small gesture. "So what's in that bag?" I asked as I let go of her. "Take out from the Japanese restaurant that you love so much. I thought you might don't wanna cook after this whole thing."
I just looked at her, sitting in front of me, eyes full of love. "Thank you Lee. It's perfect honestly." I grabbed one of the take out boxes and Leah got us two forks from the kitchen. We settled on the couch and continued to watch the episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S that I had started.
.................................
I finished before her and 'obliviously' put my hand on her thigh, tracing random patterns on it. I could feel her tense and just grinned. She placed her empty box on the table and I shifted in my seat until I faced her. She sensed my gaze on her and turned her head. "Do I have something on my face?"
"Nope, nothing." I moved my hand up a bit more and Leah's cheeks turned a dark shade of red. "So, I set off small fireworks in you?" I smirked at her teasingly and she just looked down, trying to hide her now crimson red cheeks. I lifted her head with one finger and leaned forward. "Was is too much?"
"Not at all Lee. I'm just glad to know that I'm not alone with that feeling." I whispered against her lips before I closed the gap and enjoyed her soft lips on mine. We parted after a few seconds and I rested my head on her chest. "It might take more than one kiss like that to convince me that you're not lying about this." I grinned and Leah let out a small laugh. "I think that's possible to arrange."
i'm baaack! this maybe took a bit more than a few day but eyyy, at least i finished it. i hope you liked it :)

The Last Wrapper
(Leah Williamson x Reader)
Chapter 1: Absence & Anticipation
Tumblr media
Cold air filled your lungs as you slowly took in your surroundings: a four-tiered bowl with about sixty thousand red chairs, a glass and steel construction establishing a roof over them, white chairs forming a trademark cannon in the lower level stands opposite the entrance tunnel you were standing in. For many, including yourself once upon a time, the Emirates had the welcoming feeling of home. However, to the opposing team in an upcoming London derby, it radiated immensity and intimidation. As you stepped onto the pristine pitch of North London, memories flooded your mind, reminding you of the first and last time your feet had graced this grass.
You were eleven years old, standing alongside your then friend and teammate Leah Williamson, as your Arsenal Academy coach gathered the team of potential future stars together on the center of the field amid the mesmerising arena. Audible gasps were heard as everyone took in the stadium of their dreams.
“Take it all in. If you work hard enough, this right here could be your future. The fact that you are here now means you have talent and potential, or at least someone saw something in you. You’re all part of an elite selection, and while that’s already an accomplishment of sorts, it’s not enough to get you to the top. You’ll need to work harder than you have ever worked, and that hard work begins now. You’ll also need support, from family, friends, and everyone around you. Look around, some of you may be inclined to see each other as competition, but these people are your friends, and you’ll find that you need to have each others backs in order to survive. And lastly, unfortunately, you’ll need lots and lots of luck to actually make it to the top, which you have absolutely no control over.”
Hard work, support, and luck: a triad of elements determining whether a talented individual made it to the top. You’d never forgotten the speech your coach gave that day, as the following years taught you just how right she was.
Over the years you and Leah became close friends; you even developed a pre-match ritual: you always got each other small sweets with some words of encouragement written on the wrapper before every match and you secretly ate them when the staff wasn’t watching.
You worked together well, pushing each other to work the hardest you could, making tough sacrifices together and eventually, lifting up trophies together in several youth tournaments. You were adamant on making it to the top, together.
But fate had other plans.
Just when everything seemed to be falling into place, an injury during a critical match sent you crashing down. You had been taken to the hospital, and when you woke up after your emergency surgery, Leah was nowhere to be seen. Your dream was shattered, the future uncertain. And where was Leah, your supposed friend? Nowhere to be found. You were furious. You had expected her to be there for you, but instead, she had abandoned you when you needed her most. The injury was serious, and it took over a year of painful rehabilitation before you could even think about playing football again.
After months of gruelling physical therapy, you slowly began to climb back up. You trained harder than ever, pushing yourself to the brink of exhaustion day in and day out. The road to recovery was long and arduous, but you were determined to come back stronger than ever before.
Eventually you got back on the field, but by then, everything had changed. Leah had made it big, joining the senior team, and you were still struggling to get back into the game, having missed a crucial period in your development as a young athlete. You resented her success, and the fact that she had left you behind.
One day, after hearing yet another story about Leah’s latest achievement, you snapped. You called her up and unleashed all of the anger and frustration you had been building up. The conversation ended in a bitter argument, with both of you hurling insults and accusations at each other. After that, you both avoided each other like the plague, refusing to be in the same room or even speak each other’s names. Your once close friendship had turned into bitter rivalry and you both hated each other with a passion.
Even though it had been mostly out of your control, it felt like she was winning, at football and at life, playing for Arsenal, making new friends and even dating one of their star players, but you refused to give up. You poured everything you had into your training, working tirelessly to improve your skills and perfect your game. Slowly but surely, your hard work began to pay off. Years after Leah had joined Arsenal’s first team, you also found your way into the WSL, by joining Brighton, hoping to move up from there. You worked hard and proved your worth at Brighton, eventually catching the eye of Chelsea scouts.
The offer to join Chelsea was a dream come true, but it also meant crossing a line you never thought you would. The rivalry between Arsenal and Chelsea was well-known, and as a lifelong Gooner, it was a difficult pill to swallow. But in the end, you knew that this was the chance of a lifetime, playing alongside some of the best and brightest, and you couldn’t let it slip away.
So here you were, about to face your new team’s greatest rival, with your nemesis serving as their captain. You had crossed paths with her on the field before during your time at Brighton, and the encounter had been far from pleasant, but now, about to participate in a highly anticipated London derby, you didn’t know what to expect.
As you stood on the field, thoughts flooding your mind, Millie approached you, her hand on your shoulder as she asked, “Are you ready?” You turned to face her, taking a deep breath. “Yeah, I think so.” you replied, your thoughts already consumed by the upcoming game. Before you could say anything more, Millie added, “I mean, are you ready to face Leah?” The mention of her name made you flinch. “So you’ve heard, huh?” you asked, a hint of bitterness creeping into your voice. Millie nodded sympathetically, “Yeah, she’s mentioned your history a few times at England camp.”
“What did she say?” you asked after a moment of silence. “I don’t think you want to know that.” Millie answered carefully. You sighed as you pushed the tip of your shoe into the grass and you thought about how everyone must view you, only having heard Leah’s side of the story. “Hey, we’re a team now you know. Whatever happens today, I’ll be on your side.” Millie said as she noticed your frustrated expression. “Thanks.” you said as you nodded slightly.
Two hours went by slowly as you got ready for the match. You walked towards the tunnel, heart racing as you saw Leah already waiting there. As you approached her, she refused to meet your gaze, her jaw clenched tightly. You both knew what was at stake in this match.
You forced a smile and extended your hand for the customary pre-match handshake, which she reluctantly reciprocated. You could feel the tension between you and you felt a knot form in your stomach as you made your way to your position on the field.
The match started and it was clear from the first whistle that this was going to be a tough one. Dirty tackles and near misses flew from both sides, with tempers flaring and players arguing with the ref. You and Leah ended up coming head to head multiple times, both of you determined not to give an inch.
As you walked into the changing room at half-time, Emma looked stern and unimpressed as she began to lecture the team about their performance in the first half. You listened carefully, taking in every word. As Emma finished speaking, you could feel the determination welling up inside you. You knew that this was your chance to prove yourself and to show Leah and everyone else what you were made of.
Only, once again, faith had different plans, as about ten minutes into the second half, you felt a boot collide with your left knee, causing a sharp pain and sending you tumbling to the ground. You held onto your knee as you hid your face in the grass. It didn’t take long for the medics to arrive, and you immediately told them it was your bad knee that had just taken a hit. As they started their check up routine, you looked up to find Leah getting booked by the referee: a yellow, which somehow was only her first card of the match. Of course it had been her, hitting you right at your weakest spot, where the rivalry had once started.
To your surprise, she started to approach you, but she never got her chance to say anything, as Millie jumped in to stop her, staying true to her word.
“I’m fine, I can continue.” you said after being forced to the sidelines. “I don’t think that’s a good idea.” one of the medics spoke, signalling Emma you had to be subbed out. “No, please, I have to finish this.” But your plea remained unanswered, and much to your dismay, you were ordered to spend the remainder of the game on the bench.
As gruelling of a match this was, watching it from the sidelines was far more excruciating than playing in it. Your team became increasingly frustrated, resulting in foolish mistakes and unnecessary fouls. Defensively, they stood their ground though, until in the fourth of seven added minutes, the ball hit the back of the net, your net. And of course, it had been sent there by none other than Leah Williamson, with a glorious header. As the stadium erupted, you could feel the anger boiling inside of you like a volcano ready to erupt.
The final whistle blew a few minutes later, and you quickly shook hands with the opposing team, trying your best to be polite. You avoided Leah at all costs, not trusting yourself around her with your anger boiling just beneath the surface. She seemed to want to at least shake hands with you, but you had no interest in hearing what she had to say. You made a beeline for the changing room, feeling the urge to get away from the stadium and the memories it held. You quickly changed out of your kit, barely speaking a word to anyone, before making your way out of the stadium as fast as you could.
As soon as you got home, you slammed the front door shut and turned straight to the wall, punching it with all your might. The pain shot up your arm, and you winced as you looked down to see your knuckles bruising and swelling. Feeling defeated, you made your way to the bathroom and turned on the shower. The hot water hit your body, and you closed your eyes as you tried to calm down. After a few minutes, you got out and dried yourself off, then went to the kitchen to make some food.
Despite your body’s need for food after the match, you didn’t feel like eating anything, and you found yourself staring at the food without any appetite. Frustrated, you pushed the plate aside and slumped onto the couch, trying to find something to watch on TV. However, your mind couldn’t focus on anything, and you felt restless and uneasy. You knew you needed to do something to distract yourself, so you got up and grabbed your coat, deciding to go to a bar and drink away your misery.
You walked into the bar and made your way to the counter, taking a seat on one of the stools. You ordered a beer and watched as the bartender poured it for you. You took a sip and closed your eyes, feeling the cold liquid go down your throat.
As you sat there, lost in your thoughts, a stranger came up to you. “Hey there, you look like you could use some company. Is everything okay?” she asked. You looked up, surprised by her sudden appearance. A woman in her mid-twenties, with curly brown hair and a warm smile looked back at you questioningly. “Oh, uh, yeah, just had a bad day.” you replied.
“Ah, I see,” she said, nodding sympathetically. “Anything you want to talk about?” You hesitated for a moment, but then decided to open up a little. “Well, I lost an important football match today.” you said. “You’re a footballer?” she asked, smiling. “I love football. Which club do you play for?”
“Chelsea, we played Arsenal today.” you answered, making her jaw drop to the floor. “Wait so you like, play professionally?” she asked, eyes widening. “Yeah, I just signed with them actually.” you said, a small smile finally appearing on your face. “Wow, that’s amazing, congratulations!” she exclaimed, “And hey, I’m sorry you lost a derby, but you’ll get ‘em next time, I’m sure.” She smiled. “Thanks.”
“So hey, sorry to be blunt, but could I maybe get your number?” she asked out of the blue, almost making you spit out your drink. “Erm, I’m sorry,” you started, “I don’t really date right now, too busy.” “Who said anything about dating?” she quipped, sending you a quick wink.
“I’m sorry,” you said again, “but you should go find someone who’s more fun tonight. I’ll keep my sorrow company with a solitary drink or two.” “Okay suit yourself, Emily Dickinson, but if you ever decide to get out of that cloud of misery you’re sitting in, you can find me on the dance floor. I can be a great distraction you know.” she said as she sent you one last wink before she left you sitting alone once again.
You sat at the bar, quietly nursing your beer and trying to forget about the day’s events. Just as you were about to order another, the same stranger from before approached you again. You were a bit annoyed at first, wondering why she wouldn’t leave you alone, but she looked serious this time. “Hey,” she said, “I’m sorry to bother you again, but I saw someone in the bathroom who you probably know. She’s really drunk and crying her eyes out.”
You raised an eyebrow, wondering who she could be talking about. “Why would I know her?” you asked her. “Just go to the bathroom, you’ll see.” she said, sounding serious. You sighed and rubbed your temples. “Fine, I’ll go check on her,” you said, reluctantly getting up from your stool and making your way to the bathroom.
You rounded the corner and saw a blond girl hanging over a toilet, sobbing. You immediately recognised her, even from behind: Leah Williamson. “Of course.” you mumbled to yourself, very annoyed at the situation you had just found yourself in. You hesitated for a moment, wondering if you should just leave her there. But something in you wouldn’t let you. You took a deep breath and approached her. “Leah,” you said softly, “are you okay?”

One Of Your Kind
A hopeless romantic lost in a world where everything seems transactional. Talented, tenacious, temporary. That was the best description of Y/N, an upcoming actress.
Tumblr media
Playing the main character in am exploding Netflix Original series came with it's benefits. Invitations to the most prestigious fashion shows, VIP tickets for concerts, but most importantly - special treatment when it came to visiting Arsenal when Y/N so wished.
Realising how much of a football fanatic Y/N was came as a sweet surprise. Childhood fotos wearing the Arsenal kit, following the whole women and men's squad on social media, interactions with the players, a true gunner.
Y/N was known to visit the Emirates Stadium, but she was a regular at Meadow Park, having a soft spot for the women's team.
Having been introduced to Alex Scott, an Arsenal legend, Y/N had great company for the home games. The players got used to her regular assistance, getting post game chats with the star. Every encounter, everybody would end up fangirling on whoever they ended up talking to, but when it came to Y/N and Leah, they always managed to keep the chats down to earth, interesting, flirty but playful.
Over months, Y/N would bring her co-stars, friends, rumoured romances to watch Arsenal. Y/N's sexuality being mostly a secret to the public eye, fans would end up shipping their star with everybody she came in contact with. Leah wasn't an exception. The difference : Leah's fanbase.
Both groups managed to gel like they were supposed to merge into one, both sides cheering for the possibility of their favourite power-couple.
On a home game, the fandom's wishes became true - or as true as rumoured relationships get to be.
Leah's injury made her watch the games from the stands, but this time she was sat next to Y/N. Talking all throughout the game, cheering, screaming, complaining and shouting their lugs out together. The both of them seemed to have a great time, so much so, that a post match dinner became a requirement. This occurrence soon became a tradition, posting their evening shennanigans to their social medias.
After Leah's return from injury, Arsenal went on a winning streak, getting on a title chase against Manchester United. The gunners were the favourites, but when it came to facing the Red Devils, they had to show why they were backed by so many to win the league. Tied at 28 points with them and Chelsea - it was the gunner's chance to capitalise.
The match in itself wasn't as exciting as most had predicted, at least result wise. Sure, both teams getting their chances in front of goal, missing sitters, giving away dumb fouls, but it all ended on a narrow win for Arsenal. Some would agree that it was an undeserved one.
Post match, Leah was called for media duties. Y/N not far behind, hearing the Arsenal's captain defend her girls to the press "It wasn't a great match, but in times like these, we have to regroup, correct our mistakes and grow as a team" she declared before saying her goodbyes to the press.
"Not happy about the game huh" Y/N stated, keeping her eyes to the ground, knowing that Leah wouldn't be in a great mood after her team's performance.
"We are better than that you know" Leah seamed angry, but kept her tone very calm around Y/N "I won't let that take anything away from tonight though" the midfielder added opening her car door for the actress.
"Quite the gentlewoman I got here" replied, giving Leah a kiss on the cheek before getting into the midfielders car "So, where are we off to tonight?" Y/N questioned the Arsenal skipper as she entered the drivers seat "I'm feeling sushi tonight" she answered "How about we go to your favourite sushi place?", a suggestion that came with implications.
"Are you sure?" Y/N asked "People have been narrowing in on us you know" It was true, at some point, so many outings together started to make less sense when both chucked it down to being just friends. Especially when most of these outings were of just the two of them. "What could go wrong?" Leah asked, a mischevious look in her face.
What about a whole lot - paparazzis flooding the restaurants entrance as the outing became public knowledge. Going out with famous people sure got thrilling, but leaving places out the back door to avoid paps wasn't as glamorous.
"Ok.. in hindsight" Leah grabbed onto Y/N's hands "it might have been a silly idea" she joked, trying to lighten the mood from a night that was clearly turning sour by the minute "Why are we hiding this" Y/N questioned, pointing to the both of them. Leah left speechless. Was there a reason? They surely knew what they were getting into after the first couple of dates... right?
"Now that you ask..." the midfielder rambled "we never really talked about what we are" she struggled to get words out. Y/N on the other hand had enough courage for the both of them "Well after the what... 20 dates?" Y/N guessed, having lost the count of the sleepless nights spent in Leah's apartment "I kinda guessed that we were well into dating" she finished, clearly not scared about the consequences this situationship would entail.
"So you would just.. tell them that? It's surely not that simple" the midfielder clearly had forgotten that like everyone else, Y/N was a person first. "You do know that I am one of your kind right?" Y/N joked getting herself ready to face the media "Let's get into trouble shall we"

don’t wait for some day (kiss her you fool)  (leah williamson x reader)
Tumblr media
Why is there so much mistletoe everywhere?
Word count: 1105 ish
Ratings: H for happy holidays!
Title: kiss her you fool by kids that fly
——
As soon as you walk into training you groan.
“Seriously guys? Get a room or something.”
Beth pulls away from Viv to shoot you a glare.
“There was a mistletoe. What else were we supposed to do?”
You follow her finger up towards the ceiling and roll your eyes.
“Very funny guys, but you know I’m going to have to take that down.”
Beth pouts at you.
“You’re no fun.”
You roll your eyes.
“Yeah yeah I’m the Grinch I get it. But no training is going to get done if everyone keeps making out everywhere.”
Viv butts in.
“You’re just saying that because you’re single.”
You scoff.
“Me being single has nothing to do with this.”
Beth smirks.
“Orrrr it’s because she’s upset over a certain blonde-“
You cut her off by walking away and throwing up your arms.
“Okay- Enough! I’m going to go get the ladder.”
The two forwards share a look that you miss.
“Order more mistletoe?”
“Already on it.”
~~
As you’re walking to the locker room the next day, you run into Leah in the doorway.
Your heart races a little at the meeting but you stifle it down like you’ve done for the past years, instead giving her a smile and saying:
“Team meeting in five.”
Leah nods towards the field.
“Already on my way there captain.”
You’re pretty sure Leah can see the way your face flushes at that. You clear your throat and say:
“I’ll see you there.”
Leah nods and heads out, leaving you swallowing drying after her.
~~
You remember when you first met, years ago back when you both played for different youth teams.
Your first meeting was in a friendly between Arsenal and Manchester City that quickly turned physical, and you had scars on your legs to prove it.
The up and coming midfielder at the time was tackling you poorly, leaving you wincing in constantly on the ground, and drawing a lot of fouls.
One particularly poor tackle left you crying in pain beneath her, a cleat mark showing on your left thigh.
Even then, you didn’t meet—officially.
It was after the game that you did.
While you made your way to the locker room, you were almost knocked over by a flash of red.
Leah looked so distraught that you had to ask her if she was okay.
But she didn’t even hear you, considering the midfielder was sputtering so many apologies as she rushed to check on your leg.
After a long while of reassurance that you were in fact fine, Leah, with a flushed face, finally introduced herself to you.
You shook her hand and gulped.
You were smitten from the start.
Eventually, you would go on to join Arsenal on loan, where you’d meet again.
The very first day you caught the eyes of the now defender, who immediately sauntered over to introduce herself.
You, being completely forgetful, didn’t recognize her, until her hand was in yours.
That handshake brought you back five years, to that one game on the field.
The once awkward teen was now stunning and radiant, and you honestly felt like the breath got knocked out of you.
“Nice to see you again, Y/N.”
“Likewise, Leah.”
Safe to say, you stuck with Arsenal after that year.
As you and Leah got closer over the years both on and off the field, your feelings for her grew and grew.
You stole glances at her whenever you could, not very subtly, considering that everyone else on the team could tell.
Beth had bet the rest of the team that you’d get together by the end of Christmas, and she was adamant on winning.
If nothing else could bring you together, maybe mistletoe would.
~~
You shook your head as you made it onto the field.
“Alright. Who did this?”
You were met with snickers by the team, all of which had seen the green plant hanging from the goalpost.
You shake your head even more.
“No more mistletoe at training. Got it?”
A quiet agreeing murmur broke out, but you could see the mischievous smile on Beth’s face, and you knew you were in for it.
And you were right.
Day after day, more and more mistletoe popped up around the stadium.
They were like hydra heads, for every one you took down, two more seemed to show up in its place.
Eventually, you gave up.
By this point the locker room ceiling was filled with the plant, and you had to knock before going in to avoid seeing your teammates going at it.
So far, you had the luck of not standing under it with anyone. You really didn’t want to have that conversation with anyone.
But eventually, your luck would run out.
Or not, depending on how you looked at it.
As you were making your way to Jonas’s office one day, you passed by Leah.
The defender caught your arm, making you abruptly stop, and your heart caught in your throat when you saw what she was pointing to.
Right above your head, where the two of you stood, in all its glory, was another mistletoe.
You gulped and your heart was pounding.
Leah was looking at you expectantly and that made you even more nervous.
You started rambling.
“I mean it’s just a stupid tradition. I’m sure nothing would happen if we, I mean unless you want- I mean we don’t have to-“
Leah’s soft “shut up” made you close your mouth.
“For a captain you sure are dense aren’t you?”
You furrowed your eyebrows in puzzlement.
“What?”
Leah chuckles and just grabs your face.
“Kiss me already.”
You don’t wait for another second before leaning in.
It’s only when air becomes an issue that you pull away, your cheeks flushing as you do so.
Leah’s soft smile makes it all worth it.
“I’ve been flirting with you since you joined Arsenal you know.”
Your look of surprise makes her laugh.
“I didn’t know how else to get you to respond so…”
It’s your turn to laugh this time.
“So you put mistletoe everywhere just so you could kiss me?”
Leah says a little embarrassed:
“I mean Beth and Viv helped a little too.”
Your smile is blinding.
“Go on a date with me then?”
Leah nods before kissing you again.
“Of course.”
And just before your lips meet, your eyes trail up to the ceiling back to the plant that started it all.
You wouldn’t mind leaving this one up after all.

Sombra y Fuego
A/n: I wrote this months ago but got stuck in writer's block for it, so you're getting everything I wrote until I got stuck. The tags are a hot mess because I never figured out a ship for R, there's more than one option I suppose?
Summary: R's family were family friends of the Putellas family, R grew up with them, goes over to help establish Manchester United WFC whilst studying there, over the years befriends some Dutchies and Ona when she arrives too.
///
Growing up, you were always five years behind a family friend, who eventually you called one of your sisters, whilst you were two years behind her younger sister, Alba. You followed Alexia’s footsteps and shared her passion for football from the time you could walk (and run after her and Alba). Her family played basketball, but yours weren’t interested in sports, instead working between Spain and England, leaving you to play catch-up. You were always playing catch-up.
You were ten turning eleven when Alexia was making her senior debut with Espanyol at sixteen.
You were eleven turning twelve when she played at Levante, then twelve turning thirteen when she moved back to Barcelona.
Your family worked between Spain and England, leaving you to sometimes stay with other family members, or on some occasions, with the Putellas family themselves. On those occasions, they’d attend Alexia’s Barcelona matches, and you’d go with them, or they’d sometimes watch your football practices and games too.
You saw Alexia less as you got older, her time taken up by football, but you couldn’t help but admire her. You didn’t expect her to attend one of your matches, or find out about the nickname you’d been given for how you played.
In short, you were Sombra, the Spanish word for shadow/shade. Your sneakiness on the field with the addition of a lot of nutmegging had led to that nickname, with the addition of a classic, Fuego, due to the fire in your eyes when a teammate or yourself were taken down by an opponent.
After the match, you glanced over at the small crowd of people who had watched, usually consisting of your teammates' family members, but since you didn’t expect anyone to attend the match to see you, you stumbled over your feet to run over to her with the rest of her family. Alexia hadn’t expected you to all but tackle her into a hug, but she grinned, holding you close as you buried your face in her collar.
Sombra stuck as you got older, moving up the youth team you played with until rumours began to whisper within your family in Spain, and another women’s football club in Manchester.
Your choice to head to England to study and play wasn’t one that anyone expected, but having the opportunity to help set up Manchester United in its first year next year was one you were greatly interested in. It didnt help matters of how your Spanish family was becoming Eli, Alexia and Alba more than anything, leaving them behind left an ache in your heart, but you wanted to do it for your career.
You always had a foot in each country, especially since being called up to the Spain Women’s national under 20’s team, so you stayed connected to Spain, even with you moving to England to help United get into the WSL.
///
Manchester was nowhere near as warm as Spain. You should have taken more of Alexia and Alba’s hoodies and sweatshirts. You should probably buy a blanket too. But nothing would compare to the warmth of your sisters’ hugs, even as they hugged you goodbye at the airport.
Your phone ringing with a video call shattered the silence, stirring you from where you had curled up on your couch, watching the dark Manchester streets from the window.
“Hola, mi pequeña sombra,” Alexia smiled as you appeared on the video call, chuckling as she saw you were wearing more layers than she’d seen you wear in Spain that time of year. Your heart ached as you chatted away with her before the hour ahead time zone had you both going to bed. You both had pre-season training coming up, but you also had your studies to account for.
It didn’t take you a massive amount of time to bond with your teammates. Luckily the initiation song had been avoided, or forgotten, either way, you weren’t going to bring it up. Manchester was cold, but your clothes smelt like your sisters, they smelt like Spain, and you had learnt Spanish recipes so you could cook some, even having some teammates over one night when you realised how lonely you felt.
Between your studies and training, you’d text, call or video chat with some of your Spanish teammates from the national team, along with your weekly video chats with the only people left in Spain that you considered family. The ones who had basically raised you after all. Even when Alexia was busy, she still replied to you and kept an eye on your matches, just like you kept an eye on hers with Barcelona.
The 2018/19 season ended for you with United being promoted into the Women’s Super League, whilst for Alexia, Barcelona had got to the finals of the UWCL, but lost to Lyon, she renewed her contract and ended the season as Barcelona’s top goalscorer.
Heading back over to Spain after the season with United ended, you flew into your family’s arms, hugging them tightly as if you hadn’t seen Alexia at national camps during the season, or you video called Alba and Eli a lot. Alba teased you about wanting some of her clothes back as you stuck your tongue out, ignoring the fact that the shirt you were wearing had definitely been Alexia’s at one point in the process.
“Who are you texting so much?” Alba grumbled, her eyes lighting up for a second before you nudged her away, knowing what she was going to ask.
“One of the new transfers to United, Dutch player Jackie Groenen. She had questions about Manchester.” You explained, putting your phone down as Alexia opened her mouth to shut Alba up.
“So, no girlfriend?” Alba clicked her tongue, smirking as you rolled your eyes, debating whether throwing a piece of bread at her was worth it as you glanced at the bread basket.
“Between football and my studies? You seriously think I have time?” You deadpanned, turning to face Alexia as she asked about your studies, thus changing the topic, which you appreciated.
“When is your flight?” Alexia enquired as the two of you paused from chasing each other around playing 1v1 with a football.
“Uhh, early morning flight to Gatwick, Jackie is flying in a little earlier but she asked some of Arsenal’s Dutch players to pick us up, we’ll hang out there before heading up to Manchester or something, I don’t know… I don’t even speak Dutch.” You admitted, frowning as you heard Alexia chuckle.
“All of Alba’s teasing about not finding an English girlfriend and you might find a Dutch one instead…” Alexia began to tease before smirking, “Or a Spanish one, you’re quite close with some of our national teammates too…”
You rolled your eyes to try nutmeg Alexia at her teasing, but she immediately blocked it.
“Nice try, Sombra.”
Your heart sank as you realised what Alexia had called you, going from the childhood nickname of 'my little shadow', to what everyone else called you, shadow. It shouldn’t have affected you, but it did for some reason.
Your jersey even had Sombra on the back of it as part of the nickname from your youth football days, but in your heart, Alexia calling you her little shadow meant more than anyone knew. You were basically an honorary Putellas in everything but name, biology and legality.
You hated saying goodbye to your family every time you headed back to Manchester, seeing the teary eyes and sad smiles as you hugged each of them tightly, you walked through the airport with tears down your face that you didn’t let fall until you were past security and sat in the duty free area, sipping your coffee. Scrolling through your phone, you sent heart emojis to the family group chat, opening the one that Jackie had made for when you and her would be arriving at Gatwick and meeting her national teammates at Arsenal.
The two and a bit hour plane ride was uneventful as you arrived back in England, collecting your luggage after going through passport control and moving on to try to find Jackie or one of her national teammates.
Tugging your suitcase, a squeak left your lips as you all but walked into someone in front of you, catching yourself and your suitcase quickly as they stumbled back, leaning against the vending machine.
“Shit! I’m sorry- wait, you’re-” You were cut off as you pulled your suitcase closer to you, the outflux of people leaving the arrivals distracting you as the person laughed.
“Jill, Jill Roord. Beth and Daan have Jackie, I came to find you. Viv and Lisa are sorting out the parking.” Jill explained, smiling as your eyes widened at the number of Arsenal players who had turned up at the airport.
“So, you flew from Barcelona?” Jill enquired, leading to the two of you to chat about Spain, and Jill grinning as you offered to give her a tour of where you were from next time you both had free time.
“Wow, Jill’s grinning as much as Jackie!” A comment from one of the Arsenal girls left the players who understood Dutch to chatter away, whilst you stood wide-eyed, glancing between Beth and Lisa for help.
Slipping your suitcase into the back of Beth’s car, Daan slipped into the passenger seat whilst you climbed in the back, joined by Jill whilst Jackie went with Viv and Lisa.
“Welcome to London!” Beth joked as she turned the car engine on to drive.
Later that night, social media lit up with photos of you hanging out with Jackie and the Arsenal Dutch players, your caption on your photo being in Dutch and Spanish, after having asked Jill for some help with translating into Dutch. The texts you received from Alba teasing you were left ignored in favour of a goodnight message, teasingly sending ‘welterusten’ before resting your head on one of the cushions on Daan and Beth’s couch.
After spending a few days in London with Jackie’s national teammates, the two of you ended up taking a train up to Manchester, sprinting through the train station when the two of you had to change trains on the way in.
Jackie had taken the three plus hour train journey as an opportunity to continue helping you learn Dutch, with you replying sometimes in Spanish just to keep her on her toes. The two of you also sat together whilst United travelled to Norway to play against Vålerenga and Sandefjord days later during the preseason.
United’s season started with losing the Manchester Derby against City, but none of you expected a global pandemic to cut the season short, with Jackie quarantining the Netherlands with her parents, and you stuck in Manchester, on your own. Your socialising decreased to video calls with teammates who were quarantined together, staff and your family in Spain.
That was until July, when word of another Spaniard signing for United caught your attention. Ona was coming to United, and your apartment had an extra bedroom.
Living with another Spaniard was chaotic, but you loved it compared to living alone. The two of you living together had brightened up your cold apartment, plus Ivana would come over a lot from where she lived nearby.
The chaos even led to you going out and getting a tattoo, yet you had kept it a surprise from Ona, dragging a visiting Jill along whilst you were getting it done. That place being the side of your ribs, venturing further down your side a little. Jill had chosen to get something small done on her arm for the memories.
However, since the tattoo had healed, you’d somehow managed to avoid showing anyone but Jill and Ona, not mentioning anything to your sisters, besides the fact you had been wanting one.
Ona hadn’t seen it on purpose, but the two of you shared a bathroom and the shower had a glass panel (instead of an annoying curtain that would cling to you once it got wet), so when she walked in on you, you didn’t react, only covering yourself as you tried to get the shampoo out of your hair.
It was only after you were showered and dressed that Ona approached you as you sat on the couch on her phone, waiting. “You got a tattoo!”
“Yeah, I went with Jill, when she came to visit!”
“You went with Jill?” Ona pouted before her face melted into a grin.
“No, do not, I already get shit from Alba about not having a girlfriend, and Alexia thinks I’ll end up with a Dutch or Spanish girlfriend, so I don’t need you teasing me too!” You pointed at Ona, who’s teasing grin turned into her sticking her tongue out at you.
“So, you and Jill?”
“She actually asked if we were dating.” You admitted, looking up at the ceiling momentarily before Ona’s wide eyed look turned into snickering that had you flicking a cushion at her. The two of you burst out into laughter as she threw a cushion back at you, and thus a cushion fight began.
///
The next national camp coming up left both you and Ona rushing with excitement to fly out back to Spain, ready to tackle international duty and see your national teammates again. You and Ona would be rooming together due to the timing of the flight compared to when your other teammates would be arriving.
This meant that Alexia was not expecting you to tackle her into a hug at breakfast that morning after you and Ona arrived during the night due to delays.
None of your teammates expected you and Ona to be nodding off during breakfast either, your head resting on Alexia’s shoulder as she talked to Jenni, and Leila watching to make sure Ona’s face didn’t land in her breakfast as she leaned on you.
“Mi pequeña sombra, are you awake?” Alexia whispered, not wanting to move and shake you from your slumber, but the girls were getting ready to head to training. Your sister smiled as you curled further into her before looking up at her through half awake eyes, your arm wrapping around Ona as she shifted slightly to eat something.
“We have to go to training. The sleepy ones too.” Jenni chuckled, raising an eyebrow as you reached for Leila's coffee and drank it when Leila was too busy on her phone.
“Mm, okay, vamos!” You declared, eating a spoonful of Alexia’s breakfast before you got up, nudging Ona to come with as the two of you went to get ready to head to training. Missing Leila’s confusion at her empty coffee cup, Alexia rolled her eyes at you eating her breakfast then running away.
A yawn left your lips as training took a pause for a water break, you were heading over to the others before stopping, tugging your jersey up to mop at your forehead. Someone choking caught your attention, looking over to whoever had been choking as Ona walked over, holding out your water bottle to you with a grin.
“What’s that face for?” You enquired, raising the water bottle to your mouth as Ona wiggled her eyebrows.
“Your tattoo healed really well.” Ona pointed out as your jersey crumpled up messily from how you’d tugged it up.
“You have a tattoo!” Patri exclaimed, running over followed by Leila and Jenni who were both intrigued by the conversation. Your gaze turned to the one person who had started choking when you’d pulled your jersey up, your face falling at your sister’s expression.
“She went with Jill Roord, you know, from Arsenal!” Ona added with a grin before you sprayed her with water from your water bottle, hurrying away before training resumed.
Training ended with a blast of water hitting you in the neck and back, soaking your jersey. Grimacing at the wetness, you tugged the jersey off over your head and flung it over your shoulder.
Whistles from some of the girls had you rolling your eyes, instead debating whether you could still cover the part of your tattoo peeking out of your sports bra when a hand reached out, gently pulling you towards the bench.
Following the hand up to the person’s face, you didn’t fight as Alexia sat you down on the bench, staring at the field for a moment before she looked at you.
“You didn’t tell me you went to get one. Or you got one there.” Alexia began, raising an eyebrow as you chewed your lip, folding up the soggy jersey to give your hands something to do.
“I like it, it’s easy to hide, and, well, it’s a bit hard to show the whole thing without flashing someone. Ona only saw when she walked in on me in the shower, and Jill didn’t say anything, if she did see anything when I was getting it done.” Your face began to burn at the memories, not seeing how Alexia’s face steeled up for a moment, processing that two people had seen her baby sister at least partially naked.
“You and Jill?” was all Alexia asked as you let out a huff, turning and burying your face in Alexia’s shoulder, her body unstiffening as you snuggled into her.
“Ona…” You grumbled into your sister’s shoulder, blaming your housemate for this conversation you were now having with Alexia.
“You and Ona?” Alexia raised an eyebrow, about to argue that the two of you shared a room at camp when you deadpanned.
“Oh my god, we live together- separate bedrooms, unless someone puts a horror movie on. We’re not dating! And, Jill, she might be leaving Arsenal and the WSL. It wouldn’t work out. Not like she’d like me like that anyway…” Your voice fell quieter as you stirred in your sister’s arms to meet her eyes.
“Roord would be an idiot not to, but you and Ona-”
“Ay dios mio! You said once that I was close with some of our national teammates and you thought I would get a girlfriend then, but Alba is the one that dates our teammates!” You whined, grumbling at the memory whilst Alexia smirked.
“But you and Ona have been quite cosy, mi pequeña sombra…” Alexia chuckled as you let out a whine.
“Stop! We’re literally housemates!”
///
“So, can I see it?” Ona enquired as you walked out of the bathroom wrapped in your towel, grabbing your clothes you’d somehow forgotten.
“You already saw it.” You deadpanned, holding the towel a little tighter as Ona sat up on her bed.
“When it was healing, I saw it then.” Ona argued, pouting as you walked back to the bathroom.
“You should have seen Alexia’s face when I mentioned you saw me naked in the shower, it was scary.” You stated before shutting the door, hearing Ona’s voice rise an octave at the mention of her pissing off your sister.
Her phone chimed minutes later with a snapchat from you, showing the healed tattoo with the rest of you hidden by a towel. “You’re welcome.” was all that was texted, whilst you waited for replies from Alexia, Alba, who had found out about the tattoo somehow, and Jill, who you had asked if she wanted to call when the two of you had a free moment.
///
You were talking with your teammates after dinner when your phone began to chime, ignoring the inquisitive looks you were getting as you smiled and answered.
“Hoi, ik heb een minuut nodig, mijn vrienden zijn luid. Heb ik dat goed gezegd?” you ignored the confusion from your use of Dutch, Alexia raising an eyebrow at you in confusion. Ona was about to open her mouth, realising who was on the phone, but you stuck your tongue out at her, winking to your sister before you left the room to head upstairs and away from eavesdroppers.
“Sorry, I just got out of there. The Dutch really threw them off but no doubt I’m going to get teased later. Hoe gaat het?”
The end of camp meant heading back to Manchester for you and Ona, your arms locked around Alexia as the time to leave approached. Alexia swayed the two of you slightly, holding you as you buried your face in her neck, absorbing all the comfort you could get.
“Nobody gives hugs like you do.” You whispered, kissing your sister on the cheek as you stepped back, blinking away tears. Alexia chuckled slightly, kissing your forehead as she spotted Ona lingering and waiting.
“Not even Ona, or Jill?”
Your nose crinkled up, “Those hugs are different, you’re my sister,” sticking your tongue out, you chuckled as Alexia nudged you away, telling you to get in the van before you missed your flight and ended up annoying her more.
“Can we get tattoos next time-”
“Ay dios, don’t get more tattoos without telling me!” Alexia warned, pointing at you before waving as you got into the van, sitting with Ona before the staff drove the two of you to the airport.
///
Your birthday coming up was something you weren’t entirely sure whether to look forward to, until you became aware of a certain plan, since Jenni accidentally mentioned it when you were video calling her and Alexia, seeing the panic on Alexia’s face confirmed it as you raised an eyebrow, “Two birthdays?”
“You celebrate in Manchester with your team-” Alexia began before Jenni cut in with some teasing.
“Maybe some Arsenal players too-”
“Jenni, no! So you celebrate in Manchester with your team, then during the offseason, we’re taking you to Ibiza to party.” Alexia explained, adding that Ona and Jackie knew of this plan, whilst you chewed your lip.
“I promised Jill I’d show her Barcelona.”
“Bring her!” Jenni interjected before Alexia could answer, watching as you shrugged and nodded at the idea, her face stiffening until you looked at her.
“Does it help that I have another tattoo booked, but I’m telling you this time?” Biting your lip, you laughed at Jenni’s excitement whilst Alexia let out a groan.
“You’re worse than Alba!”
///
Pulling the duvet over your head, you kept your eyes closed as you tried to steal a few more minutes of sleep before your alarm went off to signify you needed to get up. Ona’s door opening down the hallway caught your attention as footsteps walked towards your room.
Laying still, you listened as your bedroom door opened, and Ona launched herself onto your bed.
“Felicidades!” Ona shouted, grinning as she landed on top of your duvet cover and you.
“Buenos días…” you grumbled back, slightly winded from Ona launching herself like a flying squirrel at you. Rolling under your duvet, you flipped the positions, Ona buried underneath you and the duvet before you kissed her forehead and ran, sprinting into the bathroom to get ready for the day.
Your phone began to chime as you spotted the video call, smiling at the name on the screen as you sat down to eat breakfast, Ona flicking you on the head as she walked by, retaliation for stealing the bathroom first, you assumed.
You grinned as you pressed accept, covering your mouth as you ate another mouthful of your breakfast, gaining a laugh from Alba, who moved her phone to show Eli there too, chatting away with them as you ate your breakfast, then bantering with Ona when she contributed to the conversation also.
Both Alexia and Jill had texted, asking when you were free to video call today, leaving you bubbling with excitement as Ona smirked, wiggling her eyebrows at you.
“You know, I think Alexia would have a heart attack with all the fan theories that me, you and Jill are dating.” You pointed out after hanging up the video call, smirking as Ona put down her coffee to laugh.
“We need La Reina alive, Sombra!”
“True, but I like teasing her a little.” You admitted, sipping on your drink as Ona raised an eyebrow, smirking.
“Let’s just say Ibiza is going to be really fun.”
///
Arriving at training, you weren’t prepared for the amount of hugs you were all but tackled into, or how much Ona laughed each time someone started a chorus of ‘happy birthday’ before she joined in.
Training kept going, the birthday choruses calming down as everyone focussing on the drills, scrimmages and then the rondo that you actually asked for, everyone thought it was weird but it reminded you of when you were younger and you would chase after the ball as Alexia and her friends passed it to each other.
Sitting in the locker room after training, Ona walked over and shoved your phone in your face, revealing that you had an incoming video call.
“Feliz cumpleaños, mi pequeña sombra.” Alexia cheered as you answered, laughing as she ended up having to turn the phone to reveal her Barcelona teammates in the background, also wishing you a happy birthday.
You grinned, thanking them before getting into a longer conversation with your sister, who couldn’t see from the camera angle that you had caught Ona by the wrist, gently pulling her into shot, and the seat next to you, smiling as Alexia spotted Ona next to you before you explained the plans for tonight in Manchester.
///
Crashing on the couch after getting in from the night out that your United teammates had arranged, you let out a groan as Ona landed on you, headbutting you in the chin in the process.
About to open your mouth and complain, you were cut off as your phone began to ring, reaching over sleepily to hit the answer button, humming as you heard Jill’s voice, answering her questions quietly before you began to nod off with a smile on your face, only really processing one thing.
Arsenal were coming up from London to play against United, meaning that you would get to see Jill again.
///
You spent the rest of the season being chaotic with Ona and Jill whenever either of you had a match near each other, or impulsively taking a train to London when there was a break. But soon the season was coming to an end, with Jill’s announcement she was leaving Arsenal for Wolfsburg coming up, whilst Ona would be going into her second season at United, and you would be going into your fourth season.
However, you were not just chaotic with Ona and Jill during the season, as Alexia would find out once you started trending on Twitter, immediately confusing her as she assumed it was a club thing, instead finding that a fan had photographed you attending a pole dancing class in Barcelona.
“Hey, what’s with that look-” you spotted it as soon as Alexia got back from training, you were sitting on the couch with Alba watching some random movie, but you sat up properly when you saw the look on your oldest sister’s face.
“Pole dancing?”
“What- oh, yeah, not worth it. It was funny watching Alba try though… Wait, is it? It reached twitter, and somehow you’re not even in the shot, it looks like I went on my own!” You retorted, going from looking at twitter on Alexia’s phone to turning to glare at Alba, who grinned cheekily.
“You went to a pole dancing class? And took our baby sister with you?” Alexia turned to Alba with a frown.
“I’m your baby sister too-”
“Why did my baby sisters go to a pole dancing class?” Alexia cut Alba off, waiting for an answer from either of you.
“The tickets were a gift-”
“Pretty sure it was a gag gift you got given.” You deadpanned, letting out a squeal as Alba lunged to tickle you, you both tumbling from the couch to rolling around Alexia’s feet, laughing. Alexia let out a sigh, watching the two of you on the floor for a moment before finally giving up as you looked up at her, letting out another squeal as she joined in on the tickling.
///
“Where are you going?”
“To pick Jill up from the airport. I’m showing her Barcelona before we all jet off to Ibiza. Ona is heading home to Vilassar de Mar first. Is everyone else sorted for heading to Ibiza?” You replied, picking up the keys as Alexia walked over from where she had been packing her suitcase in her room.
“You and Jill?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” You stuck your tongue out, dodging the couch cushion that was thrown at you as you ducked out of Alexia’s place.
///
Giving Jill a tour of Barcelona, you sneakily stood back to take photos of her enjoying herself, until she hooked her arm around yours, making sure that you were in the photos with her.
“Are you looking forward to a break in Ibiza?” You enquired, the two of you sat outside on the patio of a little cafe, having drinks.
“I’m meeting a few of my national teammates who play for Wolfsburg there too, so it will be nice to see everyone.” Jill explained, smiling whilst you took a sip of your drink.
“I’m going to miss you, and how you’d lay on the pitch like a starfish!” You teased, grinning as Jill began to laugh.
“I’m going to miss you too.”
///
Heading to Ibiza, you were buzzing with energy at seeing so many people you hadn’t seen whilst playing in England all together in one place, plus Ona and Jill would be there too, and that was the perfect opportunity to have some chaos during the trip...

Meeting again | Part 1 - Part 2 | Leah Williamson x Reader
Where you take your son to Leah's book signing and you reconnect with your high school friend/crush.
Happy birthday to our blonde pookie!
Woso masterlist | Words: 2.7k
-----
You were doing some work around the house when your ex called. “Hey Ryan, what’s up?” You say as you turn off the vacuum. “Hi y/n, I’m so sorry. I know that it’s my day, but I’m going to be stuck at work until late. Is there any way you can pick up Liam from school and take him to that book signing from Leah?” The two of you had gotten a divorce many years ago, when you had finally come to terms with your sexuality. Ryan had always been understanding, and now you were still friends, and co-parented your son Liam together. “Oh yeah, don’t worry, I can do that.” You could hear the relief in his voice. “Thank you so much, I owe you one. He has a half day, so he should be done at school in about an hour. I packed his Arsenal jersey and scarf, he wanted to wear them to the signing. Thank you again, I have to go. Send me pictures of the signing?”  Your kid would always be your number one priority, so you hung up the phone and got ready.
“Hey bud, your dad is stuck at work, so I’m going to take you to Waterstones later, is that okay?” The boy greeted you with a hug. “Yes, of course, you’ll get to see Leah again!” Back in high school you and Leah were very close, there was even some gossip about the two of you dating, but when you got wind of that you shut those rumours down quickly by starting a relationship with Ryan, a relationship that drove a wedge between your friendship with Leah. Your love for the women’s game continued to grow though, and you have supported Arsenal all your life, just like Leah. Liam fell in love with it too, and you often found yourself amongst the crowd of Arsenal WFC and Lionesses matches together. Liam was a smart kid, and after finding you looking at TikTok videos of Leah, he started asking questions. “Watch it, or we’re not going.” You said with a fake seriousness. Liam knew full well that it was an empty threat as you loved messing with him.
You decided to make it a special day for your son, by taking him out for lunch before heading over to Waterstones. It was to no surprise to you that he wanted to go to his favourite restaurant. “Smile for your dad.” The boy looked up from his plate with a big grin on his face. Proudly wearing his Williamson jersey and his Arsenal scarf.
The line at Waterstones was long, but you bought the book and joined the line together. You could tell he was excited just by the way his eyes lit up, and his smile was constantly present on his face. His excitement made you glad that you were able to join him on this occasion, but it didn’t trump your nerves of seeing Leah again. Of course, you had seen her play, but you were always just a person in the crowd, and now you were going to be face to face with the girl you’ve had a crush on since you were fifteen.
Never in your life had you been so nervous to see someone from your past, but you set it aside for your son, this was his moment. Plus Leah would probably not even remember you, right? You were a nobody, and she was the England captain and the Arsenal co-captain.
When it was your turn, Liam walked up to the signing table, while you stood back to take pictures. “Hi, what’s your name?” You heard the blonde ask your son. “I’m Liam, it’s very nice to meet you. My mom is a big fan of yours as well.” The sneaky little bastard, you thought as your eyes met Leah’s. Her eyes showed instant recognition. ‘Yours?’ she mouthed your way, and you answered with a nod. “It’s very nice to meet you too Liam, want to come over to this side for a picture?” Leah signed the book, and wrote something on one of the cards laying to the side as Liam made his way around the table. “I see you’re repping my jersey! You know what would go great with that?” He shook his head. “This new cap, would you like one?” Liam looked over to you with hopeful eyes, “Can I mom?” You smiled at the interaction between Leah and your son, “Yeah, of course.” He turned back to Leah, “Thank you so much!” The two posed for a picture. “Any time Liam. Here is your signed book, and could you please give this card to your mom?” He grinned big when he saw a written phone number on the back of the card. “Thank you Leah!”
“Mom! I got you her number, you have to call her!” You look at the card that Liam handed you ‘Would love to catch up, send me a text if you’re up for it :)’ along with her cell. You looked between the card and Leah, who shot you a smile before returning to the next person in line. “Please tell me you’re going to send her a text, please!” Liam was tired of always seeing you admire Leah from afar, and now that you had a real shot to reconnect with her, he wanted you to take it. Plus how cool would it be if his mom would go out with the Leah Williamson? You pocket the card, “Maybe later, you little snitch. I thought we had a deal.” You say playfully as you put your arm around his shoulder. Quite frankly it scared you a little to send her a text. “Let’s head home.”
When you got home you put Leah’s number in your phone and stared at the message screen forever, trying to decide what to text her. You really wanted to reconnect with her, but you also didn’t want to overcompensate, and ruin any chance you had. You settled on something simple, letting her make the next move.
You: Hi Leah, it’s y/n. It was good seeing you today, catching up sounds nice.
You hadn’t expected to get a message back from her so soon.
Leah: So glad we ran into each other. Talk about the details later?
The message notification was staring back at you, your heart was beating out of your chest simply from her message. You quickly put your phone away, without opening her message when Liam walks in. “Mom, you know that I want you to be happy right?” You nod, “Of course, I know that kiddo. What makes you say that?” He shrugs, “I just don’t want you to hold back because of me.” You shake your head, “You’re too smart. I love you, kiddo.” He hugs your side, “I love you too, mom.”
The two of you were hanging out at home, when Ryan called again. “Hey, thank you for sending me those pictures. They really made my day, glad to see him so happy.” You notice the exhaustion behind his words, “Yeah of course, I don’t want you to miss out on stuff because of your job.” Liam was so important to the both of you, but your divorce had led to missing some things here and there, that you always tried to minimise together. “Speaking of work, I should be done around eight. You know I hate to ask, but-” You interrupted him, “You don’t have to ask, of course. Pick him up whenever you are done, okay?” You heard the relief in his voice, “Thank you. Can I talk to him for a moment?” You walk over to Liam and hand him the phone, “It’s your dad.” After handing him your phone, you give him some space to talk to his dad.
You continued vacuuming since you weren’t done when you had to pick up Liam from school. So, you didn’t hear the interaction with Ryan, or when the call was over, and definitely not when you got another phone call. Liam looked at the contact and smirked to himself. When he realised you didn’t hear the phone call, he picked up himself. “Hi Leah, it’s Liam.” The girl had not expected your son to pick up, but she went with it anyway. “Hey Liam! How did you like the book signing?” He told her how much he enjoyed it before Leah continued with her questions. “I was looking for your mom, is she around?” If it were a video call, Leah would have seen the mischievous look in Liam’s eyes, but since it was a voice call he could hide behind the screen. “She is a little busy right now, but she said she wanted to invite you over for dinner tonight if you had time.” Leah knew she should’ve questioned it more, but she wanted to see you so badly, that she set up dinner plans with your son.
Just ten minutes before Leah said she would be there Liam came walking up to you. “Hey mom, so I kind of invited Leah over for dinner tonight.” Never in your life had you turned around so quickly, “You did what?” You could not believe what your son had just told you. “She will be here in-” His sentence was interrupted by the doorbell. “Now.” He said with a big smile. You were frozen in place, Leah Williamson was at your door, and you were in sweats and a tank top, your hair a mess from the house work you had been doing for the past hour. “Are you going to let her in?” You turned to Liam, “You are going to be in so much trouble later.” Again, Liam knew there was no actual threat behind your words, because that’s not how you parented.
On your way to the door, you tried to quickly fix your hair. You open the door, “Oh hi Ryan, you’re here early.” He smiles back at you, “Yeah our last meeting got cancelled, sorry I didn’t let you know.” You shake your head, “No, no it’s okay. Liam, your dad is here!” The boy came running into his dad’s arms. “You’re here!” The bond between them was amazing, he truthly loved the both of you equally. “Have you had something to eat yet?” Liam shakes his head, “How does McDonald’s sound?” You grab Liam’s bag, and give him a quick kiss on his cheek, before waving the both of them off.
As soon as you closed the door, you ran up the stairs to quickly get changed, and look more presentable. You had just finished doing your hair when your doorbell rang again. This time it was Leah standing on the other side of the door. “Hi Leah, come in.” She looked so beautiful in her simple white t-shirt and a pair of green cargo pants. “Hey y/n, thank you. No Liam?” She questioned when you walked her further into the house. “He wanted to be here but his dad came to pick him up a little bit ago. I’m sorry to say that McDonald’s has been picked over dinner with you.” You joke, hoping to make the moment a bit lighter. Hearing Leah’s laugh brought you back to those days where you would sit on the grass, and make fun of the boys on the football team.
“So, Liam is a big fan of football then?” Leah started awkwardly. You loved talking about him, so you just started talking. “Yeah, I started taking him to matches when he was still a little baby. He loved it ever since, I can’t go to an Arsenal match without him nowadays. A gooner from the start, just like you.” Leah blushed slightly. “So, you’ve been coming to our matches all this time?” Now it was your turn to blush. “Maybe.” The both of you laugh. “Ryan surprisingly never got into football, so it’s been something I get to share with Liam.” The name you mentioned caught Leah’s attention. “Wait Ryan is Liam’s dad? You actually married high school Ryan?” You realised that bringing his name up was probably a mistake since he is what drove the two of you apart. “Oh yeah, high school Ryan indeed. Liam’s dad indeed, and I did marry him. We haven’t been married for like five years though.”
Leah’s ears perk up at that. “Oh, I’m sorry to hear that.” You shrug your shoulders, “It’s all good, it was time I finally figured out my sexuality. We’re still friends, and he's great with Liam. Anyways, how have you been?” The two of you start talking and catching up, and somehow even though more than a decade had passed and you had lived such different lives, it felt like you had never not known each other.
You walk into the kitchen together, still talking, when the both of you start getting hungry. That is when you realise that you had to go to the grocery store today, and didn’t have much in the house. “So, confession time. I didn’t actually know you were coming over until Liam told me about ten minutes before you arrived.” Leah laughed, “I had a feeling the invite wasn’t extended by you, but I didn’t want the opportunity to go to waste.” You blush at her words. “I am very happy that you are here, don’t get me wrong. I was just not prepared. It was Ryan’s day with the kid, but he got stuck at work so I didn’t have a chance to go to the grocery store like I had originally planned. Let’s see, I have Potato Smileys, and literally nothing else. I am so sorry.” Leah did not care what you would eat one bit, she was just happy to be there with you. “Good thing I love Potato Smileys then!”
You shared a laugh at the situation and decided to make the best of it. While the Potato smileys were in the oven, you set the table with some condiments to go along with them. As you were waiting for the Smileys to cook, you and Leah fell back into conversation. You were reminiscing over old times, and shared stories from the past years since. It was easy talking to her, it really felt like no time had passed.
Once you were done with dinner, you moved to the living room where you each found a comfortable place on the couch to continue catching. Before you realised it, hours had passed by. Leah looked at her watch, and noticed the time first. “Oh it’s late, I hadn’t realised so much time had passed.” You glance at the clock yourself, “Wow, yeah it is. I’m really glad you came over tonight, catching up with you has been great.” Leah smiled in return, “Yes it was, I’ve missed this. I hope we can hang out again soon!” You walk her to the door, “For sure! Liam and I will be at the match Sunday, maybe we can do something after? If you don’t mind him tagging along of course.” Her smile grew big, “I would love that, and for Liam to tag along always!”
As you said goodbye, and Leah got into her car you couldn’t help but feel hopeful for what the future might hold. Just having Leah back into your life in whatever way possible made you extremely happy. Tonight had been so nice, and you really wanted to see Leah again soon, Sunday didn’t feel soon enough. So, you decided to send her a message. You felt less nervous sending this message than the one this afternoon, but still there were some nerves.
You: Would you maybe want to grab a coffee sometime this week? I’d love to meet up sooner than Sunday.
As you were getting ready to go to bed, your phone dinged with a new message.
Leah: I know a great spot! Are you free tomorrow?
You smiled at the text, Leah proposing tomorrow had to mean she wanted to see you again soon too, right? You quickly let her know you’re free, before sending her a goodnight message and calling it a night. Though, your mind kept you up for a while longer, not wanting to let go of today just yet.

Summary: You accidentally walk in on Leah and Lia, and it's safe to say your traumatised.
Warnings: Suggestive (Mentions of what R saw when they walked in)
A/N: Thank you for all your requests, I have started writing them, and continue to work on other fics (for both requests and non-requests). Also this is only short but I hope you like it.
Tumblr media
You walked down the hallway, heading for Leah’s room, more specifically her bathroom. Your period was meant to start today so you wanted to put a tampon in, however you had none in your bathroom as you took them all with you when you moved to Spain and completely forgot to pack any, so you were planning on using one of hers. To say opening that door was the biggest regret of your life is an understatement, your eyes were only opened for half a second if that, yet the image of the scene in front of you managed to ingrain itself into your brain. The view of your sister’s head in Lia’s lap at 8 am was disturbing to say the least. You quickly ran, well more like speed walked due to the fact you had a moon boot on, to your room, grabbing your bag and heading out the door, calling Viv immediately.
“Viv, Beth, please pick me up, I’m walking in the direction of your house from ours, I will explain later, I just can’t see Leah right now or maybe never,” you said in a voice laced with shock and horror.
“What happened?” Viv asked as the look of complete horror was still plastered on your face. Beth smirked, as she looked at her phone, clearly just receiving a message from Leah.
“Why don’t you tell Viv here, Y/N/N” she said, as she continued to smirk.
“I-I-I walked in on them, her-her-her head was, no please don’t remind me,” you shuddered, “also can we go to the store? I need tampons, that’s why I um, yeah” you said quickly.
“Sure, then we’ll go back to ours and have breakfast before we head to training,” you nodded your head, Barça had allowed to go back to London for a week, more specifically Arsenal as your recovery was going well, the only condition was that you continued your rehab at Arsenal, which you were doing. Surprisingly being at Arsenal didn’t make you sad that you had left, but instead was making you miss Barca, you enjoyed being at Arsenal but it was no longer your home and so it felt slightly different.
____
“Where’s your sister and Lia?” Katie asked smirking, “Don’t tease her like that,” Steph said walking in.
“Wait how do you all know,” “Leah messaged the group chat, saying she thinks she just traumatised you and you left, asking if any of us knew where you were. Beth then replied and said maybe next time lock the door."
_
“Good Morning Bug,” Leah said as she walked into the locker room going in for a hug, you quickly swerved and ducked under her arm.
“Nope, not good morning” you said as you looked at the ground, briefly glancing up to see Lia’s face bright red.
“It is partly your fault, you know, you’re the one who opened the door.”
“It’s my fault? I’m not the ones who were being disturbingly quiet, with an unlocked door,” everyone's heads tilted to the side as they looked at the two women who couldn’t find any words to speak.
____
“Alexia, please promise me that you will forever lock the door when you’re doing something I shouldn’t walk in on,” you cried out as you walked through the door of the house, not realising that the rest of the team was also there.
“So it is true then,” Alexia smirked, and all the others laughed.
“Actually that goes for all of you." You stop and point at all of them around the room. "Lock. The. Doors." You look at them, not quite sure they all let the message sink in "Doors = Locked. Do you understand?” They all nodded in amusement.

Crack a Rib || Arsenal Women x Reader
Summary: You play through an injury, and some of your teammates (*ahem* Leah Williamson) aren't very happy with you.
Warnings: A swear word, mention of injury, unedited writing
Word count: 3.4k words
A/N: Wanted to get something out for tonight, and I hope you all enjoy. Thank you for the support on my last fic, I appreciate every single one of you :)
Tumblr media
Playing professional football had always been some unattainable dream of yours. However, so had playing for Arsenal, your childhood club, both of which you were doing. You supposed you were achieving all of your dreams at this point, playing beside some of the biggest names that you’d grown up with and looked up to.
When you’d signed for the prestigious team over the Summer transfer window, you’d been extremely nervous. You hadn’t thought you were good enough to be a part of the team, and you’d been fearful that nobody liked you. On top of that, you were one of the younger members on the squad, and you’d been terrified of not fitting in.
However, all of your fears seemed to have been for nought, as you had become a part of the large family in record time. Soon enough, you’d adopt a “younger sister” role alongside Kyra Cooney-Cross and Victoria Pelova. The three of you were always playing pranks on each other and annoying your older teammates.
There were several videos circulating the internet of your various shenanigans, one of which contained you hanging from a metal pull-ups bar as though you were Spiderman, and Kim Little could be heard lecturing you from out of the frame.
As you’d gone to get down, your legs had slipped free of the bar and you’d cascaded down onto the ground with a cacophonous screech. Whoever had been recording– you were pretty sure it had been Kyra, had dropped the phone with how hard she’d been laughing and, as the phone screen cut out to blackness, you could hear Kim still lecturing you.
The video was, of course, one of many, and you’d seen several different edits that fans had made of you from that singular video. To say that you were soaking in the attention would be a severe understatement, and the original video never failed to make you laugh or smile whenever it happened upon your phone screen.
Throughout your time at Arsenal, you’d developed as both a person and a player. From someone who’d spent a large amount of their time on the bench to becoming a reliable substitute in the second-half of the game, your next goal was to gain a consistent position in the teams’ starting XI.
Now, however, you ran down the field, having been subbed on in the 62nd minute for Beth Mead. The match was against Ashton Villa and the two teams were tied at one point each, much to your disdain. You were determined to be the one who changed the scoreline, and the thought of getting a goal for the team spurred your legs on ever harder.
The roar of the crowd in Meadow Park echoed in your ears, and you quickened your pace as you received the ball from Leah Williamson. The weather hadn’t been in your favor that night, as it featured harsh, cold wind and rain. The pitch, therefore, was slippery and wet, causing you to slip as you pivoted and nearly lost your balance.
You could hear the wind whipping past your ears as you looked up, shifting your hips as you passed the ball over to another of your teammates who was open. Through the haze of rain and wind which pelted you, you could hardly see their face, but you thought that it was Kim Little.
You didn’t get the chance to see the ball go in, as just as the football left the inside of your boot, something collided with your front. The breath was knocked right out of you as you flew backwards, sent right off of your feet.
You swore you heard something crack as pain burst from your abdomen. You landed on your back, rolling once as you quickly attempted to get back up on your feet. Your brain had yet to catch up with what had happened, and you were still intent on scoring the goal that your team needed. You only made it onto one knee before you nearly fell forward from the pain.
Your arms circled your abdomen, breaths coming in wheezing rasps as you let a groan come out from your parted lips. Your chest hurt, and black spots danced before your vision as you desperately tried to blink it away. You hardly caught the voices which surrounded you as someone helped you to lay back onto the ground.
“Hey, you’re alright, take a breath.” You heard someone say– you thought it may have been Leah, but struggled to hear her over the pounding in your head. You felt almost nauseous as you fought to breath through the pain.
Each breath felt like you were being stabbed, but soon you were able to gather enough breath to speak. You focused your words to whoever’s face was leaning over your own– Caitlin Foord.
“Cait- Cait, did we score?” You asked, and you heard a few laughs at the question. Of course, the first thing you’d ask after being bodyslammed by a goalkeeper twice your size was football-related.
“Yeah, yeah we did! Nice pass, kid!” You heard someone else shout, and then heard a gasp.
“Don’t encourage her, Katie.” You heard Kim Little chastise the Irishwoman, and you coughed out a laugh which immediately sent you into another fit of pain. “Holy shit!” You cursed, barely able to get the words out. They came out as a wheeze, and you closed your eyes for a moment. You still had five minutes to go in the game, and however much would be added on in injury time. You knew that, even though your team had scored, Jonas had no subs left to use up.
Ignoring the medical staff member who was trying to assess you, you sat up. Immediately, you felt your ribs decline the movement in a way that had you swaying, although you were just sitting up. You grunted, and heard someone tell you to lay back down. You ignored it, though, as you used your eyes to look at the trainer.
“I’m good.” You said, and the medic gave you a look of utter disbelief.
“You need to be taken off.” They declared, and you were quick to shake your head.
“No, no I’m good. I just needed a moment, I promise,” As if to show off how good you really were, you stood up. The pain was awful, but you found that if you leaned into the pain and allowed your body to adjust to the way it smarted and ached and pinched, you could deal with it. “Seriously, I can continue.”
Your eyes met Leah’s, her blue eyes scrutinizing you as she looked you up and down.
“So… If I were to shove you in the stomach right now, you wouldn’t crumble down in pain?” Leah questioned, and you gave her a wild look.
“Of course I would, that’s a painful thing. Please don’t do that.” You answered, and Leah huffed out a breath. Then, she was giving a look to Kim as if to give her a shot at making you listen to reason.
You were walking away before your captain could get a word out. You made your way over to your position, eyes half-closed and ribs pounding in pain. You hadn’t even seen Villa’s goalkeeper coming and had had no time to brace for the impact of her fists against your ribs. You were sure that you’d cracked one or two, but the consequences of leaving the pitch instead of staying on and playing your role were too great for you.
You weren’t going to let Villa sneak in and draw or win the match. With that mentality in mind, you waited for the referee to start the game up again with a blow of her whistle.
The searing pain in your ribs had you stumbling around on the side of the field, and you could feel more than one watchful pair of eyes on your form. As the match peeled on, your breaths became harsher and harsher, despite the fact that you weren’t moving much.
You were simply glad that the ball never came to you, as it seemed your teammates were entirely too aware of your predicament. You knew that if you’d given Kim the time to lecture you, you probably would have been taken off of the pitch to be assessed. As it stood, however, you were left on.
You were okay until it was time for Arsenal to take a corner. Kyra was at the flag, ready to kick, and you felt someone’s hand on your hip as they marked you. You were in no shape to jump up and connect your head to the ball, and so you were glad to watch as it sailed far over your head and behind you. As you twisted, the pain which accompanied the movement nearly knocked you down onto your ass.
You sighted the football, however, as it ping-ponged between several different players' booted feet. The Villa players were having a hard time clearing their lines, and as the ball was knocked off of Leah’s thigh, it bounced down perfectly at your feet.
Moving purely on adrenaline, you tapped the ball and watched through tunneled vision as the football slid past the goalkeeper’s gloves and into the bottom left portion of the net. That seemed to be it for the Villa players, some of whom dropped to the ground defeatedly.
The crowd around you was loud, and one of your own teammates came to give you a gentle hug around your middle. You grit your teeth to fight off the pain that the action caused you as more of your teammates bunched around, hugging each other.
Normally, the Arsenal women would hug out the celebration. This time, however, their touches were soft, with most of the girls patting your head and uttering soft congratulatory phrases in your direction.
The game ended just as the ball was kicked back into play, something which you were incredibly grateful for as you folded in half. Your elbows met your knees as you tried to heave in a deep breath despite the protesting ache in your chest.
You felt someone’s hands on your waist, their touch beginning to lead you towards the sidelines.
“C’mon, you stubborn ass. Let’s go get you checked out.” You heard someone utter, and you figured it was Kyra.
-----
A few hours later found you laid down on Leah Williamson’s couch. You’d showered and now wore one of Leah’s old Arsenal hoodies and a pair of comfortable shorts.
The Lionesses’ captain refused to leave you out of her sight, now that they’d learned you’d broken your ribs and would be out for a couple of weeks due to the injury.
You’d been taken to the hospital to be assessed, as the medics were afraid that one of your ribs could have punctured something important in your body. Leah had insisted on coming with you, stating that you could hardly be trusted on your own. She wasn’t wrong.
Imaging results had confirmed that nothing had been damaged, other than your ribs, of which three had been broken. When you’d gotten your results back, Leah had rolled her eyes at you, and you knew you would have it in for your careless decision to play through your injuries.
You’d been driving for a few minutes when Leah spoke up.
“What you did was idiotic.” Leah said.
You nodded slowly, unsure as to how to approach the conversation. Leah seemed oddly calm as she drove, but you knew she was upset with you anyway.
“I know, but I don’t regret it.” You said, after a few awkward moments of silence.
“You should. You can’t play through pain and injury like that. You could have gotten seriously hurt.” Leah responded, voice having an edge to it now.
“But I didn’t!” You protested, and you heard Leah let out a huff of air.
“Not this time, no. What about next time? What if you had been more seriously injured? Do you have any idea how bad this could have been if one of your ribs had punctured your lungs? Your kidney? A blood vessel? People can die from those injuries, and you just played through it like it was no big deal? What if it had been worse? That was stupid, and you can’t do that or I will have you benched.” Leah’s voice was, somehow, still calm as she ranted, and you forced yourself to calm as well, before you said something that you would regret.
“But I wasn’t hurt that badly. People have played through broken ribs before, Lee. Hell, you would have played on your torn ACL if you could have, and you and I both know it,” you heard Leah start to protest, and cut her off before she could. “No, hear me out. You can’t treat me like a kid, because I’m not. Sure, I’m young, but I’m an adult at the end of the day. I know what I’m doing, and I know when to stop. I’m tough, Leah, you can’t just bench me because you disapprove of that.”
Leah allowed you to finish, and then she allowed the car to fall into silence again. You stared at the clock on the dash in the meantime, watching as one minute ticked by, then two. Finally, Leah spoke.
“You’re right– about being an adult. You are one, of course. You still have a lot to learn, though. We all know that you’re tough, you don’t need to put your health at risk to prove that to any of us. You should have allowed yourself to be taken off,” now, it was your time to try to protest, but a strict glare from Leah shut you up quickly. “You gave us the opportunity to score and get on top, and you should have trusted the team to maintain that lead. You risked your health and safety, and I will never be okay with that. No matter who it is, risking your health over the wellbeing of the team is never worth it. You should have been taken off, and I need you to promise me that you will start taking your health seriously from now on. If you are hurting, you will tell someone, and you will be taken off and checked out properly.”
“Leah-”
“No. Promise me, because we can’t have this happening again. You were hurt, and you could have made the injury more serious by continuing to play. Promise me.” Leah interrupted you, and you sighed. You knew that she was right, and while a part of you yearned to protest, you found yourself going along with it.
“Okay, I promise.” You sighed.
“What do you promise?” Leah prodded you.
“I promise to not risk my health for the team again.”
“Good.” Leah praised you, and you rolled your eyes.
The rest of the drive back to her place was silent. You didn’t even protest when she drove right past your house, knowing that she would be bringing you to hers instead so that she could look after you. This type of bond had developed when Leah had torn her ACL. You’d been by her side and had refused to leave, having played with her on the England Lionesses team.
Even though you’d played for another team, you made sure to check in with Leah throughout her recovery process. You’d dropped by whenever you could, and had sometimes stayed the night. Sure, you were several years younger than the woman, and could be immature at times, but you knew how damaging an injury could be– not just to the body, but to the mind and soul. You’d suffered a broken bone in one of your first professional games, and it had kept you out for several months. Your recovery and the complications which arose within it had been demoralizing, and you probably wouldn’t have made it through without your friends and family by your side.
Because of this, you always made sure to check in with your teammates and friends, especially when you knew that they were struggling or that they’d acquired an injury.
Even throughout your short time at Arsenal, you’d developed a reputation for doing just that. You checked in and hung out with many different members from Arsenal’s “ACL squad” and often made sure to make them smile and laugh with your antics and pranks.
Therefore, it probably shouldn’t have been a surprise that Leah’s house had been ransacked during your short stay at the hospital. Upon opening the door, several of your Arsenal teammates were wandering around the house.
Leah couldn’t bring it upon herself to keep the scowl on her face for long, especially as you two took in the players cuddled together on the various couches and seats in the living room. A movie was playing on Leah’s television– one of the Harry Potter movies, and several bowls of assorted snacks sat on the table.
Lia looked up guiltily at Leah when the two of you walked in, and you knew instantly that the Swiss International player was to blame for this entire thing.
“Welcome home?” Lia greeted, accented voice quiet and, albeit, a little nervous in the face of the grumpy English woman.
Before Leah could get a word out, you grinned.
“Aww, guys you shouldn’t have. I knew you loved me!” You spoke sarcastically, resulting in several different players yelling and laughing.
As you walked further into the room, you saw Kyra and Vic scooting aside, having saved a spot for you to lay down between them. Lia came up to you after you’d laid down between Vic and Kyra, your upper body propped up against Kyra while your legs had been picked up and put in Vic’s lap. The position was about as comfortable as it could have been with broken ribs.
Soon after you’d laid down, Lia was coming to check on you.
“How is your pain?” The girl asked, eyes focused on you in a concerned manner.
“I’m good,” you said, and you were. The pain medication that you’d been given was helping, and you didn’t feel like you were being stabbed in the chest with knives anymore… more like toothpicks.
The other woman nodded slowly. Then, Lia was lifting your jumper and placing a pack of ice on your skin, the ice wrapped by a thin towel to avoid putting it on your bare skin. You still jumped and groaned, causing pain to arc through the rest of your body like wildfire.
“Lia, don’t break her- oh, wait, she’s already broken!” Kyra couldn’t help but joke. If you’d been able, you would have elbowed the girl. As it was, someone else threw popcorn at the Aussie instead.
“Hey!” You heard Kyra shout as popcorn bounced off of her forehead.
Lia uttered an apology to you for causing you pain before stroking back some of the hair from your eyes. Then, the woman pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead, and you smiled at her.
The Swiss woman made her way back to her spot next to Leah.
That was how you spent the rest of your night, bundled up and taken care of between Vic and Kyra. Later, Caitlin and Katie made an appearance, bringing even more snacks, and after that Laura, Lotte, Emily, and Alessia made an appearance as well.
Soon enough, the entire house was occupied by the entire team. The Arsenal women filled the area with laughs as they played board games and threw popcorn at each other, cuddled up and tired after the match.
You and Kyra and Vic would get up to your old antics, giggling and creating even more inside jokes– most of them revolving around your newly broken ribs.
The entire team would end up having a sleepover, and while Leah pretended to protest, you (and everyone else) could tell that it was just what she needed after the intense day that everyone had had.
You knew that the next few weeks would be a struggle as you recovered from your broken ribs. However, just like before, you were sure that you would be okay because every single person in the room would be by your side throughout your journey.

Alone - Arsenal W.F.C./Reader
prompt: R, one of the newest signings, is going to be alone for the holidays.
warnings: none
words: 2313
Tumblr media
(Y/N) POV
I tried not to pay attention as the rest of the team discussed their own holiday plans. I really did try to make sure that it didn’t get to me. I hadn’t celebrated any holidays in such a long time that it normally didn’t faze me.
Maybe it was because I was already starting to see the rest of the team as my own family. Or because I had grown so used to seeing some of my teammates every day and I knew that I wouldn’t get to see any of them during the holidays like I currently was able to.
“What about you, Yankee?”
I scowled at the nickname as I sent Katie a glare. It didn’t even make sense considering I wasn’t a Yankee fan or from the North.
“Thought I told you not to call me that.”
“Oh, come on, Yankee Doodle!”
Before I could say anything else, I felt someone nudge my shoulder.
“What are you doing for next week?” Lotte asked. I furrowed my brow because I wasn't entirely sure what she meant. “Don’t we have a game on Thanksgiving? I’m sure the team’s granted you a leave to go spend it with your family.”
“Why would they do that?” I asked.
It wouldn’t have made sense for the team to give me leave, especially when I didn’t ask for one.
“Next week would be when fall break is,” Alessia pointed out causing me to turn my head to where the blonde striker was sitting. I had honestly forgotten that Alessia and Lotte would both know when Thanksgiving was due to their time in America. “Don’t you want to go home and spend Thanksgiving with your parents?”
I only gave a small shrug. I’d much rather play on Thanksgiving Day than spend it with my family. I especially didn’t want to be ignored on a day that was supposed be enjoyed with your family.
“You don’t want to see your family?” Kyra asked as she tilted her head to the side. “I thought that was like the whole point of Thanksgiving?”
“Yeah, well, it’s not that fun when you’re the one who has to cook everything and then everyone wants to complain about it all being made wrong,” I said as I turned away from the team so that I could put my shoes up. “Even better is when everyone ignores you if they’re not complaining about your cooking.”
“(Y/N)…”
“Real great considering that last year I tried to tell everyone that I was gonna accept a scholarship to play with UNC only for everyone to ignore me and tell me to shut up,” I continued as if I hadn’t heard Beth. “Then turn around after everyone leaves and your parents explode on you telling you there’s no way you can go to college because you’re supposed to turn pro so that you can pay them back for everything they did to make sure you succeeded as if I didn’t have to fight them tooth and nail to get them to support me.”
“You were going to be a Tar Heel?”
My eyes met Alessia’s before I nodded.
Where I was looking at going to college had been heavily debated with my own national team. Everyone had their own opinions of where I should go except for Lindsey and Mal since they both had skipped college to turn pro immediately out of high school. But that wasn’t what I had wanted. I wanted to go to college so that I could get my degree because I knew that I wouldn’t be playing forever.
Thankfully, Arsenal had offered to support me through my studies. It wasn’t exactly what I had wanted, but it did give me the ability to get away from my family.
Still, I was upset that I hadn’t been able to go to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill like I had dreamed of. UNC had been my favorite college ever since I had discovered who Tobin Heath was and I had wanted to follow in her footsteps as well. So much so that I had even reached out to her when I joined the national team to make sure that she was okay with me wearing the number seventeen like she did.
“Hey, (Y/N), you know you can talk to us about anything that’s going on, right?” Viv started to say as she moved closer to me. “You don’t have to shut –“
“What I would like is for you all to drop it. I’m a big girl. I don’t need any of you to coddle me like I’m some child.”
I pushed past Viv as I headed out of the locker room. I knew it was harsh and that I’d have to apologize later, but I just didn’t want to deal with it right now.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“I’m sorry.”
Viv looked over her shoulder at me. I had been avoiding her since we got into it late last week. It hadn’t been too hard to avoid the Dutch striker since she gave me my space.
“You were just trying to help me, and I was a bitch.”
“We shouldn’t have tried pushing you so hard.” Viv shrugged before turning around to actually face me rather than just look over her shoulder at me. “We aren’t trying to coddle you. But it’s hard being your age and being away from the only support system you’ve ever known. We just want to make sure that you know we’re all here for you.”
“I really do appreciate it,” I admitted. Viv sent me a soft smile. “I guess it’s just weird since I’ve never had a support system. My parents got me into soccer to keep me busy after school ended so that they didn’t have to pick me up as early in the afternoon. And it wasn’t like either of them were actually happy to make sure that I did as good as I could with soccer until I got called up to the national team.”
“First off, it’s football. That’s the first thing we’re going to have to fix,” Viv corrected causing me to let out a laugh. It had been an argument we often had during training as I had yet to start calling it anything other than soccer. “Second off, I’m always going to be here for you. It won’t ever matter if you leave Arsenal or if I do. I’ll always have your back. Got it?”
“Got it,” I saluted Viv, “Dad.”
Viv rolled her eyes at that. I had been hanging around Laura lately.
“And third off, you stop hanging around Laura so much.”
“Oh, come on,” I said as I followed behind Viv as we both moved to get back into the line that was warming up. “You and Beth are totally parents to Laura now. And you’re definitely the dad.”
“How do you figure that?”
“You just have Dad Vibes.”
I wasn’t sure how to explain it, but Viv really did have all the Dad Vibes. It just made sense once you hung around Beth and Viv long enough.
“So, are you coming tomorrow?”
I furrowed my brow as Beth joined the two of us. I wasn’t sure what she was talking about.
“I hadn’t asked yet.”
My eyes darted between Viv and Beth. I wasn’t sure what either of them were talking about.
“If you really want to make it up to me,” Viv started as Beth grinned at me, “you’ll come over tomorrow for lunch.”
“For lunch?”
“Yeah, for lunch.”
I shrugged at that. I didn’t really have any plans for tomorrow, but I wasn’t sure that I would actually want to do something. Especially with it being so close to Thanksgiving.
“I don’t know.”
“None of that,” Viv said as she shook her head. I sighed as my shoulders slumped forward. There was no way that I was going to get out of this. “Lunch tomorrow at mine and Beth’s.”
“Fine. Lunch at your place tomorrow.”
Beth grinned before she ruffled my hair and took off to join some of the others. Viv only smiled as she threw an arm around my shoulder and pulled me along the line we were in.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Has Viv started to Dad you yet?” Laura asked as she took a seat next to me on the couch. Both of us looked over to where Viv was cooking in the kitchen with Beth watching. “Or has Beth been able to Mom you yet?”
“They keep trying,” I admitted. Neither Viv or Beth would let me help them cook. Viv wasn’t even letting Beth help. “Beth asked me today if I was eating enough.”
“Yeah, they’ll grow on you.”
The two of us fell into silence as we turned our attention back to the game that was playing on the tv.
“What are they even cooking?” I asked causing Laura to look at me. “They wouldn’t tell me, and Viv has forbidden me from going into the kitchen.”
“I’ve been sworn to secrecy,” Laura said before she pretended to zip her mouth shut. I frowned as I gave her a shove. “Mom! (Y/N)’s being mean to me.”
“Am not!”
“Are too!”
“Can we put them up for adoption?”
Both Laura and I whipped our heads around to look at Beth as we cried out in complaint. Beth only stuck her tongue out at us as we both grumbled. Neither of us had any real time to respond though as there was a knock at the door.
I furrowed my brow at that. Laura being here wasn’t too surprising considering that Viv and Beth had taken young defender in when she tore her ACL. But no one had told me that others would be coming over.
“Get the door?”
“Why me? You’re their kid.”
“You are too! And you’re not injured.”
I rolled my eyes at that. I was hardly Viv and Beth’s kid. I couldn’t wait for Laura to get back to training with the rest of this so that she wouldn’t be able to use her injury as an excuse. I got up though and got the door.
“Happy Thanksgiving,” Alessia said as soon as I opened the door. I tilted my head in confusion at that. Thanksgiving had definitely been yesterday, but I also had no idea why she was here. “The others aren’t that far behind me.”
I hadn’t even realized that it seemed like the rest of the team was either behind Alessia or getting out of their own cars or pulling down the road. Alessia pushed past me as she ruffled my hair. It wasn’t until a few more of our teammates made their way inside that I finally left where I was standing at the door to move further inside.
“What’s going on?”
Viv and Beth grinned at me before Viv bent down to pull something out of the oven.
“Thanksgiving lunch,” Beth announced once I could see the turkey that Viv had pulled from the oven.
I shook my head with a small chuckle, but I moved to help Viv get everything plated up and presented as she pulled a ham out of the oven as well.
“What all did you make?” Katie asked as she was the last one who came inside.
“All of the traditional foods for Thanksgiving,” Viv said as she motioned to everything. “At least according to Google.”
“You did a pretty good job,” I told her as I looked at everything we had out. “Oh! I call dibs on the wishbone!”
“The what?”
“You don’t know what a wishbone is?” I asked as I turned to look at Kyra. She shook her head and I huffed. “Every turkey has a wishbone. We’ll find it when we carve the turkey. Once the meal is done, two of us will make a wish and we’ll break the wishbone. Whoever has the bigger piece will have their wish come true and good luck for the next year.”
“And how many of your wishes have ever come true?” Kyra asked as she nudged my shoulder before she reached and tried to steal some of the stuffing only for Viv to slap her hand away.
“I’ve never gotten to break the wishbone before,” I admitted. It was usually my cousins who got to break the wishbone.
“Can I break it with (Y/N) since Dad cooked?” Laura asked.
“Stop calling me that.”
“Yeah, whatever, Dad.”
I snorted at Viv’s scowl. My attention was drawn away as I was quick to catch the football that had been tossed my way.
“Hey! Not near the food!”
Viv’s scowl had turned from Laura to Lotte who was guilty of tossing the football.
“You brought a football?” I asked her.
Lotte shrugged as she threw an arm around Alessia’s shoulders. I knew that they were both probably the most familiar with Thanksgiving and the traditions we had with the holiday since they were the two who had actually gone to college in the States.
“Figured you could show us how to throw it since the big football game was on yesterday,” Lotte explained.
“And then we can make plans for Christmas,” Alessia added. I furrowed my brow at that. I knew that we would be having some kind of party for the team, but we still had time to plan it. “Cause Mum already told me that I have to bring you with me.”
“Wait, what?”
“Well, I was telling Mum how you weren’t going to spend the holidays with your family cause they were assholes and she told me that I have to bring you,” Alessia explained. Alessia’s mom wanted me to join them for Christmas. “And before you try to say no, Mum has already told me that you are not weaseling your way out of it. So, you will be coming to the Russo Family Christmas.”

blind date/leah williamson
*leah williamson x fem!reader *what happens if you are on a blind date and stood up by the person you were supposed to meet but a beautiful blonde comes to you rescue? *fluff ig? *1.3k words (1.7k with the bonus) .................................
My first blind date. I don't think I've ever been this nervous. Why did Beth even set me up? I didn't need it. I mean, yeah, I'm not dating anyone at the moment and I'm not good at flirting but did she have to make it that obvious and set me up with someone? I never met that girl and Beth didn't even want to tell me her name. How was I supposed to know who she was?
I sighed before I turned around on my bed, almost falling out of it. My hand reached for my phone, which was laying on the nightstand. In my stress, I dialed the first number that came to my mind. "Hello?" I almost threw my phone across the room. That was not my best friend. "Hello? Is someone there?" I had to answer now, right? "Hi. Eh it's y/n. We met like 2 weeks ago, on that event. I was there with Beth and Viv." I mentally facepalmed myself for calling HER out of all people. The women I've had a crush on for a year now, captain of the Lionesses, Leah Williamson. "Oh yeah y/n, I remember. What's up?" Was that my mind making things up or did her tone change when I said my name? It was probably nothing. "Actually I wanted to Beth. I must've dialed the wrong number sorry for disturbing you." I was about to hang up when I heard her say something. "No no, don't worry you didn't disturb me at all. I was pretty bored actually."
"Oh, okay." My response was followed by an awkward silence. "So what are you up to this evening?" Should I tell her about the blind date? Would she even be bothered to know about it? "I'm actually going on a date."
"Oh you're dating someone? I didn't know that."
"Surprised? Don't you think that people ask me out?" I chuckled as Leah searched for a plausible answer.
"Eh- I- No, I do. It's just-"
"Don't worry, it's just a stupid blind date Beth set me up for. Apparently I'm not capable of finding the 'true love' myself." That made Leah laugh and I couldn't help but join in. Her laugh was really infectious, I had to admit that. "Where does your mysterious date take you, if I'm allowed to know?"
"We're going to the new restaurant in town."
"Oh the Italian one? I only heard good things about it but you'll have to tell me if they're true once you come back."
"I will do that. Alright, I'm gonna have to hang up now. I have to get ready if I wanna be there at 9."
"Well have fun then. It was nice talking to you, maybe we could meet up in the near future?"
"Yeah I would love that. I'll let you know when I'm free. Bye Leah."
"Bye y/n."
That definitely went better than expected but now I really had to get going. I stood up and walked over to my closet. I picked a nice navy blue dress that I hadn't worn in a while and matching high heels. my makeup was done 20 minutes later and my hair only took 15. With enough time to spare, I decided to drive to the restaurant and wait for her there.
.................................
"Hi, I have a reservation at 9 under the name y/l/n."
"Ah yes. Please follow me."
I followed the nice women to our table and sat down. "Would you like to order something to drink while you wait?"
"Yes, just a water please."
And with that she left. I looked around the restaurant and tried to calm my nerves by concentrating on the decoration, the color of the walls, literally anything. I fidgeted with the rings on my fingers while I watched the door carefully as if I could miss her walking in. The waitress came back with my water but I just took one sip before placing it in front of me. The minutes passing felt like hours and I got more and more nervous. Multiple people walked in but they all sat at different tables. Every time I heard the door open, I looked up and hoped that it would be her but it never was. After a while, I looked on my phone and saw that it was already 9:45 pm. She wasn't coming. I felt the entire hope just disappearing with that realization. I got ditched by a person I didn't even know. I did my hair and makeup for nothing. I was excited and stressed for absolutely no reason. Disappointed by how the evening turned out, I leaned down to pick up my purse. That was when I heard a voice. "Sorry that I'm so late. The traffic was awful." I looked up to see the bluest eyes I had ever seen. Wait, I knew those eyes. And that blonde hair. And that voice. "Leah? What the hell are you doing here?" For a second I completely forgot my crush on her and stared at her like she was some alien from outer space. "I'm here to save your night."
"Elaborate please." I leaned back in my chair while she sat down on the one in front of me. "Well your date didn't come, did she?" I shook my head and another wave of disappointment hit me. "Definitely her loss. But anyway, I'm here now. I can't just let you sit at this table, all alone, that would be mean."
"You know when you said 'near future', I thought you meant next week or something but not tonight." She chuckled and I couldn't help but smile. "Yeah, I wasn't planning this either trust me. But let's see where the night brings us, shall we?"
"Alright, fine with me."
.................................
The evening was simply amazing. Leah and I talked about everything and I felt like I was on cloud nine. The food was delicious and the three hours we spent together felt like 10 minutes. She offered to pay but I didn't accept. Instead I paid for both of our meals. As we made our way out of the restaurant, our hands brushed against each other and little fireworks erupted in my whole body. We walked side by side in a comfortable silence until we reached my car. "So this is it, right?" I turned around and looked straight in Leah's eyes. Big mistake. I could feel my cheeks turning crimson red and Leah trying to hide her cheeky smile was just a confirmation that I was blushing. "I guess so." She took a deep breath. "y/n, I really really liked talking to you and all of this felt so, so-" She searched for the perfect word but I already knew it. "Natural?"
"Exactly. That's why I would love to take you out sometime in the near future. And this time I mean next week and not tomorrow night." A big smile made its way onto my face. "I would love that."
"But how about I make it up to you."
"Make what up to me?"
"You paid, so obviously I'm going to give you something back."
"Leah I really don't want your money, I-"
"Oh don't worry, I wasn't talking about money."
Before I could say something, she leaned towards me and my brain just turned off. I felt her soft lips on mine and I instantly knew that it was going to be favorite feeling of all time. I kissed her back and arms made their way around her neck. We only parted when air became a problem but my arms stayed exactly where they were. As soon as we locked eyes and I couldn't help but notice the sparkle in hers. "That was way better than any amount of money."
"I hope so cause I was planning on doing it again." We both smiled at each other and I was sure that this evening couldn't have been any better.
.................................
Bonus:
"Leah are you sure that they're gonna like me?" I anxiously looked at her and she took my hands in hers. "Princess, they're going to like you just as much as I do. I have no idea how they couldn't." She squeezed my hands reassuringly and I felt a part of the nervousness leaving my body. "Alright if you say so. Then let's go." I put a smile on my face and followed Leah into the locker room. She knocked and several women answered. "Come in!" She turned to me one last time and I just nodded, not sure if I could form actual words right now. She opened the door and we stepped inside. "Hi girls, I already told you that I wanted you to meet someone very special to me. This is y/n. My girlfriend." As soon as those words left her mouth I could feel every pair of eyes on me. "Hi, it's so nice to finally meet you." Beth walked to me and engulfed me into a big hug. "Finally! I thought you'd never show yourself here, god." I laughed and hugged her back. After that, I answered a lot of questions from everyone in the room. I also got into a nice conversation with Jen and Katie. We even agreed to meet each other for lunch the next week. All of the stress that I felt before this meeting was totally unnecessary. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and they were all so nice to talk to!
After an hour or so, Leah and I left. We still had to drive home, make dinner and watch the movie she promised me earlier that day. I intertwined our fingers as we walked to the car and started talking about her teammates nonstop until we got to her car. "You were so right, I shouldn't have worried about this. Your teammates are way nicer than you're always saying."
"Oh just wait until you get to know them a bit better. You're gonna be pranked by Katie, Lia is going to spam you with messages and-"
"I absolutely don't care. I love them."
"Well I only hope that you don't love them more than me." She grinned and I couldn't help but tease her a little bit. "Ah I don't know about that. Let's see, shall we?" I got a playful slap on my shoulder in response. "I'm joking babe. I'll always love you more, more than anyone actually."
"I love you too darling."

The Last Wrapper
Leah Williamson x Reader
Chapter 2: Blankets & Bitterness
Tumblr media
Link to Chapter 1
Leah looked up at you, her eyes red and puffy. “What are you doing here?” she slurred, wiping her nose with the back of her hand. You shook your head. “I could ask you the same thing,” you replied, trying to keep the annoyance out of your voice. No matter how much you hated her, you knew you couldn’t leave her there. “Come on, let’s get you out of here.” you said, holding out your hand.
“Leave me alone! I don’t need your help, I’m fine.” she blurted out, removing your hand with a weakened push. “Leah,” you said with a stern tone and a matching look, “you know I hate this just as much as you do, but you have to let me help you. You’re not safe here and no one should see you like this.” She looked up at you with a dazed look you couldn’t quite place, before eventually reluctantly accepting the hand you once again held out.
You helped Leah to her feet, and she leaned heavily against you as you made your way out of the bathroom. The stranger from earlier was waiting outside, looking concerned. “Is she okay?” she asked you. You nodded, not wanting to go into any details. “Yeah, she’s just had a bit too much to drink. I’ll make sure she gets home safe. Thanks for letting me know.”
You ordered an Uber and turned to Leah, asking for her address. However, she was in no state to answer, mumbling incoherently and unable to focus. Everyone you knew who might know her address was probably asleep at this hour, so you had no other option than to take Leah back to your place. It wasn’t too far away and you knew that it was the safest option.
You helped her into the car once it arrived and the Uber driver started the short journey. Leah immediately passed out in the seat next to you, her head lolling to the side, onto your shoulder. The smell of her hair and the soft snores in your ear made a chill crawl up your back, but still you couldn’t help but feel a bit sorry for her.
When you arrived at your apartment, you carried Leah inside and laid her down on the sofa. You went to the kitchen to get a glass of water, hoping that it would help to sober her up a little. When you returned to the living room, you saw that Leah had started to stir.
“Where am I?” she groaned, rubbing her forehead. You handed her the glass of water and she took a sip. “You’re at my place,” you told her. “Do you remember anything from tonight?” Leah shook her head. “Not really. I just remember feeling really upset and then everything’s a blur.” she still looked confused, frantically looking around trying to gather information about her situation from her surroundings. “Why am I here?”
You sighed, not sure what to do next. You didn’t want her to stay, but you couldn’t just leave her to her own devices either. You didn’t want to deal with her in the morning, especially if she was going to be hungover, but you knew that you had to do something.
“I’m sorry I hurt you,” Leah suddenly blurted out, making you turn your head and look at her confused. “Your knee I mean, I’m sorry I kicked it today.” she explained. “Sure.” You scoffed as you rolled your eyes. “I mean it. It was an accident, I swear.”
“Look,” you said, sitting down next to her, “I don’t know what’s going on with you, but you need to get yourself together. You can’t get drunk in public like this. You are a professional footballer now, you have an image to maintain.” Leah looked at you, tears forming in her eyes. “I know,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “I’m sorry.” “Besides, it’s not safe for you out there on your own like this.” you continued, ignoring her apology and the current apologetic glare she was sending your way, probably because you actually said something considerably nice.
You stood up from the sofa again and walked over to the window, looking out into the darkness of the night. You knew you had to make a decision about what to do with Leah. On one hand, you wanted to just leave her there and let her deal with the consequences of her actions. On the other hand, you couldn’t bring yourself to abandon her in her time of need.
After a few minutes of silence, you turned back to Leah. “Look, you can stay here tonight,” you said, “but you need to promise me that you’ll start fixing whatever caused you to act like this tomorrow. This can’t happen again.” Leah nodded, eyes still filled with tears. “I promise.” she said, her voice hoarse.
You nodded, feeling like you made the right call, even though you had no idea if she’d remember any of it in the morning. At least she wasn’t going to be wandering the streets alone tonight. “Okay then,” you said, “let me get you something to sleep in.” You walked over to your bedroom and pulled a t-shirt and a pair of shorts out of the closet. “These should fit,” you said, handing them to her. “There’s an unused toothbrush in the bathroom cupboard if you want to brush your teeth too.”
Leah took the clothes from you and went to the bathroom to change. You took the opportunity to tidy up a little and collect some blankets and pillows for Leah to sleep on your couch.
When Leah emerged from the bathroom, she looked a little more composed. “Thanks,” she said, smiling weakly at you as she moved towards her previous spot on the sofa. “For everything.” You nodded, not sure what to say in response. The silence was awkward. Her mind was clearly occupied with something, but you didn’t want to push her to talk about anything she didn’t want to.
Instead, you sat down on the other end of the sofa and turned on the TV. You flipped through the channels until you found something mindless to watch, hoping that it would help both of you to relax, as you knew you had no chance at getting any sleep yet.
After only about 5 minutes, you looked to your right to see Leah sound asleep. However, she lay in such an awkward position, her body twisted and contorted, that it seemed as if she had bent herself into a pretzel. You cursed under your breath as you got up and turned off the tv. You knew you couldn’t leave her like that so you reluctantly put your arms under her folded body and you gently laid her down on her side, putting a pillow under her head in the process.
You put a blanket over Leah and then you did wat might be the most immature thing you’ve ever done: you retreated to the bathroom to cleanse yourself of the Leah-ness that seemed to cling to you. As you washed your face and hands, you couldn’t help but shake your head at your own childishness, suddenly feeling the need to “wash off all the Leah” or something.
Eventually, you made your way to bed yourself, but your mind was still racing with thoughts and questions about the events of the night. After three hours of stirring, you gave up on the idea of sleep and got up to make yourself some tea. As you waited for the kettle to boil, you couldn’t help but think about Leah and what had caused her to act the way she did.
Just as you were about to pour the hot water over your teabag, you heard a noise coming from the living room. It was Leah, who had woken up and was now sitting on the couch, looking at you with bleary eyes. “You okay?” you asked, setting the kettle down and walking over to her.
She nodded, rubbing her eyes. “Yeah, I think so,” she said, her voice still a little foggy. “What time is it?” “Almost 4 AM,” you replied, glancing at the clock on the microwave. “Tea?” Leah nodded before letting out a groan. “I’m sorry,” she said, looking down at her lap. “I didn’t mean to keep you up all night.” “It’s fine,” you said, taking a seat next to her. “I couldn’t sleep anyway.”
Leah sighed and leaned back against the couch. “I just feel so stupid,” she said, her voice tinged with frustration. “I should know better than to let myself go like that.” You nodded sympathetically. “Yeah, it wasn’t the smartest move.” you said, trying to be supportive. Leah sighed again. “It’s just- there’s a lot going on right now,” she said, trailing off. You waited for her to continue, sensing that there was more she wanted to say.
“I- I lost someone close to me," she said, her voice catching. “And even though it’s been a long time since their gone and I thought I left it behind, I’ve recently come to realise that I am not over it. And it's been really hard to deal with. I thought I could handle it, but I guess I can’t.”
“I’m sorry to hear that Leah,” you said, “but it’s okay. Losing someone close to you isn’t something you can just get over, or leave behind, trust me.” She glared at you with a look you couldn’t quite place. It held a combination of pain, sadness but also sympathy. It was like she was looking for something in your eyes.
The two of you sat in silence for a few minutes, sipping your calming camomile tea and digesting the short conversation. Eventually, you stood up and stretched. “I should probably try to get some sleep now.” you said. “Right, yeah, me too.” she said blinking multiple times as she got up to put both your mugs in the sink. “Good night Leah.” “Good night.”
The next morning, after managing to get about four hours of sleep thanks to your camomile tea, you woke up to find an empty couch, except for a pile of neatly folded blankets and the shorts and shirt you’d given Leah the night before. As you went through the motions of getting dressed and doing your morning routine, there was a gnawing feeling in your stomach that you couldn’t quite put a finger on. The idea of her being in your house had been quite overwhelming, but now that she was gone, you couldn’t shake off the sadness that lingered. It confused you because over the past few years you had trained every fiber of your body to hate Leah, but something about last night’s conversation had left you feeling sympathetic towards her.
As you sat down to have breakfast, you found yourself conflicted about whether or not to reach out to her. On one hand, you didn’t want to have anything to do with her, but on the other hand, she had opened up about some personal issues and despite everything, you still wanted her to be okay.
You decided to give it some time and think it over before making any decisions. You went about your day, trying to push away any thoughts of Leah, but they kept creeping back into your mind and you kept checking your phone, secretly hoping she had reached out. Finally, realising you weren’t going to be able to put this aside, you made a decision. You picked up your phone and sent her a short message: “Hey, just wanted to check in and see how you’re doing.”
As you waited for a reply, you felt a sense of anxiety wash over you. What if she didn’t respond? What if she did, and you had to deal with her again? But before you could overthink it any further, your phone buzzed with a response from Leah. “Thanks for checking in, and thanks again for last night. I’m doing okay. How about you, did you end up getting any sleep?”
You sighed with relief, happy that she had responded. You sent a brief reply, telling her that you were fine and that you hoped she was taking good care of herself. As you were putting your phone away you noticed another incoming message from Leah: “Good, I’m glad. I’m really sorry I ruined your night, I won’t bother you again, I promise.”
Great, amazing. She was okay and she wouldn’t bother you again. Perfect. “This is good.” you said aloud to no one in particular, thinking saying it might make you believe it. But as the words left your lips, an uneasiness settled in your gut, conveying a very different message.
You couldn’t believe it. After years of holding grudges and wanting nothing to do with Leah, why did finding her a drunk, lonely mess suddenly make you want to see her again? Yesterday’s loss had left you feeling low, but this was a whole new level of frustration. You were pacing back and forth, trying to figure out why you were feeling this way.
As you were about to resort to hitting walls again, you noticed the bruises from yesterday were still present on your fist, and you settled for a defeated sigh. This was a new kind of frustration. It consumed you, gnawing at your mind and heart, leaving you feeling lost and unsure. You had no idea what to do with yourself, and the confusion only grew stronger with each passing moment.
You despised yourself for it, yet it was like your fingers moved on their own accord, reaching for your phone once again to message Leah. You typed out several messages, before ultimately settling for a simple, friendly text: “It’s okay, really. Let me know if you need anything.”
A wave of anger surged through you as you hit send. Why did you feel obligated to help her? Wasn’t yesterday’s display of concern enough? You wanted to scream at yourself for your weakness, for your sudden inability to stay away from someone you loathed. But as much as your mind raged against you, your body seemed to relax, as if sending that message had eased some unknown tension within you. You were left feeling frustrated and confused, wondering why you couldn’t seem to stay true to your own feelings. You hated her, right?
The next few days went by in a blur of training and gym sessions, but despite being physically present, your mind was elsewhere. You couldn’t quite get Leah out of your head, and it was starting to affect your focus on the field. Millie noticed something was off and asked you about it during a break in practice.
At first, you tried to brush it off, telling her that everything was fine, but Millie persisted. She had been so nice to you so far, and you didn’t want to lie to her. However, you also didn’t want to put Leah in a bad light by telling her everything that had happened, which was a confusing sensation for you, as a week earlier, you would’ve probably jumped at the chance to put Leah in bad light.
In the end, you settled for a half-truth, telling Millie that you had a personal issue that was distracting you but that you were working on it. Millie nodded sympathetically, giving you a reassuring pat on the back. “Just remember, we’re all here for you.” she said before heading back onto the field.
For a few days, there was no reply from Leah, and you tried to convince yourself that you didn’t care. But deep down, you couldn’t help feeling anxious and worried about her, and about the message you had sent. You kept checking your phone, hoping for a response, until finally, a few days later, she messaged back: “Thanks, I appreciate it.”
You were surprised to feel a sense of relief wash over you. The two of you exchanged a few more brief messages, just checking in on each other, before the conversation came to a natural end.
You thought that would be it, but the days passed, you found yourself exchanging occasional messages with Leah. It felt strange to be communicating with her in such a formal and distant way, especially after all the resentment that had built up between you two over the years. And yet, there was something comforting about the exchange, like a small flicker of light in the darkness.
You were both polite and civil, asking each other about training and mutual friends, but avoiding any deep conversations. There were moments where you thought about bringing up the past, but you always held yourself back, afraid of what might happen. You couldn’t deny that it was frustrating, the way you tiptoed around each other, but at the same time, it felt like a relief not to have to deal with the tension and drama that had plagued your relationship in the past.
However, with each message you sent, you couldn’t help but feel that something had shifted between you and Leah. There was a new, unspoken understanding that had formed, one that made you feel uneasy and exposed. You tried to push it to the back of your mind and focus on your training, but the conflicting emotions inside you were becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.
During the following week, as you were about to leave the gym after practice, your phone buzzed. It was Leah. “Hey, can we talk?” was all the message said. You panicked at the thought of it, your mind racing with worst-case scenarios. But despite your reservations, you replied with a tentative “Yes.”

Eye Eye Captain
Tumblr media
A local disco in the middle of London had been closed down for renovations. For their grand opening, the owner Maika, Y/N's best friend, had invited many big names to attend their Under The Sea themed party.
The invitees started to arrive, amongst them some Arsenal players. "Welcome to the club" said Maika as she welcomed Leah and her teammates "Thank you for the invite" replied the defender "Ah... the captain dressed as a captain" you said as you approached your friend "Maika we might have an issue with the Dj" you added as you pulled Maika away from the players.
"Oh wow now she is cute" mumbled Katie, clearly interested at getting some alone time with Y/N. Leah, who was clearly attracted to you claimed Y/N "Nope, that one is mine" to which her teammate Katie answered "Eye Eye Captain" she mocked saluting her captain "How bout we get some drinks" Mead interrupted so they could change topic.
During the night, both Katie and Leah kept making seductive eyes at you, but as you were there to help your friend, you mostly ignored them. "You know... you could go talk to one of em" Maika told you, clearly pushing you to have some kind of action in your romantic life "It's been a while since you had some fun" she said preoccupied by your love life "You are cute when you worry" you replied poking her nose before you got back to helping your friend behind the bar.
The Arsenal girls saw that interaction, some clearly disappointed as it seemed like Y/N wasn't single "Oh shoot" blurbed Katie out "I guess she is off the market" she added looking at her captain "I do poke you on the nose from time to time" replied her captain, who still had hopes, "And last time I checked we aren't going out" she added with a smug face.
The girls kept partying and as soon as the bar cleared up a bit, Leah made sure she was the first Y/N talked to "Imma go get a drink" she declared to the group hastily as she quickly made her way to the bar. Behind her the girls laughed "She is keen on getting to know that girl huh" laughed Foord before the group went back to partying.
"Hi" mumbled Leah as she got within earshot of Y/N "Now don't you radiate confidence" you replied sarcastically, Leah left speechless only managed to shake her head yes, trying to hide her nervousness. "Whatcha need cutie" you asked, redirecting the conversation to a slightly less awkward one. "Uh.. do you make cocktails?" asked the captain to which you laughed "For you anything", Leah quickly replied "Then you choose". You thought about it for a whole two seconds before replying "Well you do look like a Daiquiri sort of girl" you laughed.
"Wait- what does that even mean" she replied startled at your comment "Aw you look cute when you are flustered" you flirted with her shamelessly. The captain stared at you as you made her the cocktail. When you handed it over to her she mumbled "You flirt a lot for someone who's taken" to which your sassy self replied "Who says I'm taken" you winked at the captain ,as you were needed on the other side of the bar, you left Williamson's side swiftly.
Leah made her way back to the group "That girl is definitely not taken" she said right before she almost wholeheartedly downed the cocktail Y/N had made for her "Is it that bad" Katie mocked her captain, who was clearly still flustered, "I need liquid courage" she replied "that's all I'm going to say" added Leah to which Foord handed her a beer "Well drink up" she laughed.
They carried on partying until the bar counter started to look more like a dance floor. Something totally unexpected, the barkeepers were all dancers and the club's renovation came with some delightful routines. Y/N danced her heart out, a rather sexy dance at that. The club went wild at their performance and almost gave them a full standing ovation as their routine ended.
"You like that huh" teased Katie talking to her captain, "WOW" the only understandable sound that came out of her captains mouth, but as Y/N got down from the counter, she looked over at the Arsenal players, sending Leah a wink from afar. The girls went feral at the interaction, all laughing and mocking Leah's stunned state. "Oh now you definitely have to go over there" said Mead encouraging the defender. Leah grabbed Meads drink out of her hands and downed it "Yup" she replied "I'm on my way".
When Williamson got to the bar, Y/N was waiting for her "You took your time" you joked with the midfielder, teasing her at every opportunity. "Uh- what if I take you out" the midfielder said with all the courage she had mustered up "I can't right now" you replied, leaving a defeated look on the defender, "Wet t-shirt an all" you pointed at your clothes left rather wet after the dance routine.
The midfielder was quick to reply "I can give you mine" and once again you took the opportunity to further tease the Arsenal player, leaning over the counter, placing your face on your right hand, slightly tilting your head. "As much as I would like to see you shirtless" you replied "I don't like sharing beautiful sights" you added confidently. Leah, who now was blushing as bright as a ripe tomato, was left speechless. "Plus, you look hot dressed as a captain" you flirted shamelessly, handing the footballer the receipt for her group's drinks before you walked away.
Williamson went back to the Arsenal girls, she might not have been able to talk to Y/N, but she came back to the group with a win. "What's the grin for?" asked Mead curious at her captain's excitement "I got her number" she stated showing the back of the receipt off.

Leah’s always gossiping😭 she’s so funny. Would love a little fic of Leah and reader just on the bench and Leah is just full on gossiping to reader while your trying to focus on the game. Eventually getting pulled into Leah’s gossip
Tumblr media
gossip II l.williamson
you watched with pride as your girlfriend jogged over to the sidelines, smacking her palm against laia's and clapping the catalonian on the back who raced across the pitch to take her place.
you waited patiently as leah greeted the coaching staff, shaking hands and having a quick word with the defensive head and pointing out a few things as he slid over to speak with jonas and leah made her way down the line of subs, fist bumping each girl as she went.
"hello bench warmer." the blonde teased with a grin, quickly pecking your lips and dropping down onto the grass in front of you, waving off frida's offer to move down a seat so your girlfriend could sit beside you.
"charming as ever darling." you sighed with a smile, handing her a recovery shake as she shuffled back slightly to lean against your legs, patting your knee affectionately.
as she locked into a conversation with alessia who was sat on your other side you zoned out a little, chin resting on your fist and watching the game.
"babe!" you glanced down as leah shook your leg, raising an eyebrow. "do you remember the florist? the one down the street from that bakery we like?" leah questioned as you smiled.
"lee we can gossip all you want on the drive home, watch the game." you laughed quietly, knowing the blondes tendencies far too well as she huffed and turned back to speak with alessia.
arsenal had a two goal lead but you knew even if there was only twenty minutes left that anything could happen, which is why you paid little attention to your girlfriends stories.
though you could tell she was getting into them given the way her hands darted about as she spoke making you smile fondly as alessia and now kyra hung off the older girls every word, also now clearly invested into her tales.
"leah!" you whined shoving her shoulder as your girlfriend pinched your inner thigh, having tapped you a few times and getting no response. "i called your name nicely first! space cadet." her hand reached up to poke at your cheek as you pushed it away and sat back properly.
"you know the girl from the bakery we like yeah? the one who always slips us extra pastries when the boss isn't in, olivia? olive? i think its olivia." leah again tried to draw you in as you shook your head.
"you're a terrible gossip williamson, watch the girls! and you, stop encouraging her less!" you warned the grinning blonde beside you who shrugged, kyras head popping over her shoulder matching her eagerness. "why? she's a great story teller!" the australian defended as leah hit your knee with a happy smirk and you rolled your eyes.
"stop yapping and support your teammates! all three of you." you warned a little more sternly, the younger girls beside you deflating somewhat as leah rolled her eyes but turned around to face the pitch, sipping at her shake.
but once the beverage was finished it failed to serve as a distraction, leah growing restless and leaning over to tap alessia's knee and you sighed as within seconds both her and kyra were once more hanging off your girlfriends every syllable.
"-the florist!" you only caught the last of your girlfriends sentence, drawn into the conversation by the loud gasps of shock from the younger girls beside you and even frida who leah seemed to have sucked in now too.
"wait what?" you questioned with a frown, clearly having missed the build up as you watched manu make a diving save and breathed a sigh of relief.
"well well well. look who wants in on the gossip train!" leah smirked as you rolled your eyes and shook your head, ignoring her and instead turning back to the game. "whatever." you rolled your eyes stubbornly, focusing on the pitch again but feeling leahs eyes bore up into you.
"fine! you've twisted my arm, i'll tell you." leah tapped your thigh to gain your attention back as you couldn't help but be amused by her obvious enthusiasm. "back to my original question, you know the florist-" leah began tracking backward as you nodded.
"the one near the bakery we like, i do. what about him?" you frowned as leah huffed. "bubba theres layers to this story, don't interrupt!" the blonde warned sternly wagging a finger at you as you shoved alessia who giggled.
"well the florist. so he's married yeah? he has that photo of his wife and kid on the counter, and he always has that gold wedding band on. i remember because its got his wives initials carved into it which is quite cute, or maybe its their kids initials?" leah frowned, pausing as you again nodded though this time wordlessly.
"anyway not important. well i went in to see him on tuesday, remember i got you that huge bouquet and brought you breakfast in bed and then we had second bre-" you hurried to cover her mouth as the tips of your ears flushed red.
"leah what we do in the bedroom is private!" you hissed in warning for the words which you'd stopped before they fell. "we already heard about it when she told us the story." kyra piped up cheekily as you groaned and removed your hand, shrinking a little in embarrassment.
"anyway. well i went in on tuesday and no wedding band, no picture." leah continued on completely ignoring your reaction, pulling your hand away and kissing your knuckles sweetly before letting go.
"which is weird right? but then i also went to the bakery because as we both know their bread is the very best bread for a ham sandwich. so i went in to get a loaf and i noticed there was a different woman serving, not olivia or olive whatever her name is who usually always works on tuesdays." leahs eyes narrowed as you hummed to show you were listening.
"so i subtly asked, more so joked really, about where she was. turns out she's on maternity leave? i didn't even notice she was pregnant but apparently she's due in a few weeks!" leah scoffed in disbelief as you frowned, also not having picked up on that throughout the many months you and leah had frequented the bakery.
"so while i was waiting for the bread, and i won't lie babe i did get a croissant and finish it before i got home so you wouldn't know." leah smiled apologetically as you shoved her head with a playful roll of your eyes.
"but this is the scandal of it all. so i overheard one of the bakers on the phone and it turns out that-" leah was cut off as cheers errupted around meadow park, the final whistle blowing signalling the game was over and arsenal had indeed reigned victorious.
you waited patiently for leah to finish, watching as she placed her palms on your knees and used them to help her push up to her feet before holding out her hands to help you up.
"turns out that..." you trailed off eagerly with wide eyes as the rest of the girls began to jog out onto the pitch to congratulate everyone and greet the fans.
"i'll tell you later. come on gorgeous!" leah kissed your cheek and wandered off after lia as your jaw dropped. "what happened?" you grabbed alessia with wide eyes who shrugged. "its leahs story! i'll probably miss details and tell it wrong." the blonde tugged her hands away and followed after kyra as you groaned.
"leah!" you huffed in annoyance, hurrying after her and hating how much she'd peaked your curiousity.
"leah you can't leave it there, finish the story!" you whined catching up to her as lia just smiled in amusement not even needing to know the context as your girlfriend just tutted and slung an arm over your shoulder, kissing your cheek again with a grin.
"nah we can gossip all you want on the drive home, right baby?"

Part of you wondered how long it would take Leah to take you home. There was not an ounce of blue in her body, taken only by the lifelong allegiance to North London, but the thought of you, a blue-born Chelsea girl, taking up the space under her sheets, was addictive.
Chelsea were the better team. Always was, and always will be. The Blues were better at everything. Their players were more advanced, their game plans had been executed to perfection. Arsenal were sloppy, poor, and unjust. It was embarrassing to the point where it stood out as entertaining to you. Seeing the almighty, reigning Arsenal fall on their knees and succumb to the superiority of your team was endearing, and you found yourself searching for the thrill increasingly more as the game progressed.
And the sight of the woman you hated oh so much angered by the defeated notion of the final whistle was your idea of an indescribable victory.
“What a shame, Williamson.” You snagged, clutching the fabric at your hips, looking down at her bent figure. “I thought you’d play well.”
“Ah, it is you.” She replied with just as much spite. “I thought I saw someone falling flat on their face. Makes sense now that I know it was you.”
You smirked, folding your arms over your chest. “Yeah, tried to show my humility… y’know, after scoring two goals tonight I thought it was only necessary.”
Leah scoffed, straightening her posture to display her authoritative height over you. “Both off deflections… sounds brilliant.”
“Player of the match worthy.” You bit back, stepping forward, pressing your chest against hers, suppressing the heat in your face. “Don't worry, I’ll make sure to credit your own goal in the interview.”
“Always have an excuse to talk about me. Can't stop, can you?”
“Is that what you think of me?”
“I don't think of you.” Leah shook her head, grabbing the hem of your shorts and fiddling with them persistently. “But if I did, I’d be sure to let you know.”
“If only I cared enough to hear it.” You tutted, not really caring about the openness of your situation. The stadium was still quite full, with both of your teammates lingering on the field. Fans were banking the barricade, no doubt looking for the two of you.
“I could tell you now if you’d like.”
“Aw, are you thinking of me now, Williamson?”
You felt Leah’s hand move to the inside of your thigh, pressing a tight pinch to gain any type of reaction from you. Biting your lip, you hoped that the post-game redness covered your blush.
“I bet you love the thought of people watching this, don't you?” She asked, glaring at you with such hatred that her words felt bittersweet. “Always so desperate for attention that you’d do it in front of everyone. Fucking needy.”
“You’re the one touching me.” In anger, you snapped. You didn't like the way Leah seemed so confident, so right in what she was saying. You wanted to be right. You were the one who won it for your team. You were better than her. She needed to realise that.
The only separation between the two of you was by your arms crossed over your chest. Leah was drawing furious patterns along your thigh, pressed up against you with her face above you, your height earning her to look down.
“Pull away then.” She uttered, now pulling you into a hug. You knew this would send fans into a spiral. Everybody knew about your rivalry with Leah. It was evident in the tackles, the cards, the teams, the games, the interactions. This was unclaimed territory. You had both teased each other after the games. There was always fire and spite, anger and resentment, but never contact. She told you to pull away, and by the tension that lingered, if you did she would let you have there was something else there. You felt it between your legs, running down your spine, making your core yearn.
It was in the way she kept her hand in between your thighs, deepening her fingers just below where you needed her most. She held you tight, closing any physical gap, forcing your arms to circle her waist as she wrapped her spare arm around the name on the back of your shoulders. You don't know why, but you held her back just as tight, breathing heavily when she started moving her fingers upwards.
“So tense.” She spat, rubbing your shoulder.
You shook her arm off, keeping the contact but still resistant. “I pulled it at training, of course it is.”
“Wasn't talking about your shoulder, baby.” She chuckled, her voice sending goosebumps down your neck. “In those thighs. Clenching them so hard and I'm hardly touching ‘em.”
That was when you knew your cheeks were burning.
There was a hint of humiliation in your tone, but your anger was still prevalent. “I didn't even notice your hand.”
“Yeah, alright.” Williamson grinned, pulling away. You felt the cold air nip your cheeks at the sudden loss of contact. Her fingers were no longer soothing the ache in between your legs. “Alright, baby, no, all that flushed cheeks from the big game, hm? Breathing so heavily cause you scored two goals, is that you’re so wet for me?”
“I’m not— you're so—”
Leah stepped away again, and you were too stupid to step forward in response. “God, is that what you're gonna sound like in the interview? You a mess, Baby, really. All flustered and red.”
“I'm not red.” You snapped. “And stop calling me baby. You're only four years older than me.”
Leah could see straight through you. “But you love that though.” She saw straight past your visible persona. “Why don't you show me how mature you are then? Can't call you baby if you prove that you're not.” She could tell by your flustered state, your wide eyes and your tainted disposition that you were struggling to handle the conversation.
“I don't need to prove anything to you. I just won the match. That's enough to prove that I'm better anyway.”
“But you needed help to get there, didn't you?” She retorted. “It’s not your name on the score sheet, it's mine. Look,” she pointed up to the screen, almost condescendingly, above the stands, where WILLIAMSON (OG) was printed boldly in white below the score. “All that hard work and I still get the mention.”
There was a fight for dominance, but the fight was so clearly won when you audibly gulped, unable to come up with just enough answer to compel yourself into a deeper state of anger. If anything, you were willing to resort to forbidding, but you were stubborn and bled blue.
“You’re just mad that you lost and we won. Chelsea was always better anyway, and you were just too slow… bet that's always the case.”
Leah’s jaw clicked, her lips settling into a thin line.
“In what case?” She muttered distinctly.
“You know what case.” You failed to notice the challenge, finding yourself in a superior position of confidence to realise the hole you were digging for yourself. “Slow and boring… on and off the pitch. You definitely get around, but you never seem to see one person twice. Maybe that's because they don't want to see you.”
Leah grabbed your wrist, yanking you off the field. It was a tradition that you would see the fans after every game, so you tugged back in retaliation.
She pivoted to face you, glaring at you with so much affliction that you yearned for more.
“You seem really interested in how I ‘get around’. Sounds like you wish it was you.”
No matter how hard your body was willing to succumb to her words, you stood firm by scoffing, rolling your eyes at her cockiness. “If only I was so desperate.”
“I’ll show you just how desperate I can get you.” The captain spat, holding your forearm now, easily leading you further down the tunnel where fans or players could no longer find you. “Didn't even properly touch you before and you were a needy mess.”
“You’re always so fucking sure of yourself, aren't you, Williamson?” You snapped back, hearing the clad of your boots fail to drown out your ungrateful tone. You did not care for what Leah was so keen to impress you with. Never had anyone told you that Leah did not impress. She was determined to make sure everyone was supplied with the right things for their needs. She valued giving pleasure over receiving. But if there was one thing she hated, it was brats like you.
You stood outside the Chelsea changing rooms, your kit still adorned on your figure.
“Go get your shit.” She snarled, letting go of your arm and jabbing you forward.
You scoffed, stopping dead in your tracks. “And what? You're gonna wait for me and drop me home? I have a license, Williamson, I'm not your fucking—”
You couldn't finish your rant, yelping when Leah cut you off, grabbing the collar of your shirt and mashing her lips against yours. One of her legs found its way between yours, her knee pushing against your core. A moan fell from your lips, and the woman wasted no time in slipping her tongue in, caging your figure between you and the wall.
She waited until you were kissing her back before grabbing your neck. She instantly moved down to litter harsh kisses down the nape of your neck, using her hands to move underneath your shirt, massaging your breasts. You were a mess beneath her, breathing heavily when the pressure on your clit intensified when her knee started rubbing patterns up and down.
“Swear at me again and see how it turns out for you.” She muttered in your ear, relishing the whines that fell from your lips as her knee continued its work. “If I tell you to grab your bag, that's what you do, yeah? You understand, Chelsea?”
The nickname left you shrinking, her words making your core glisten. You weren't completely sure whether the Arsenal girl was planning on taking you home. You didn't understand why you were all of a sudden pretty much moaning at the friction of her knee.
But you weren't fucking complaining.
“My teammates are in there.”
Leah let out a laugh. “You had no problem letting me touch you in a filled Stanford Bridge, Babygirl. I think it’d be healthy if your teammates realised who fucks their Stargirl after a home game.”
“You haven't fucked me, yet.” Your cheeks flushed a deep crimson, the thought of the England captain fucking you sending you into a spiral.
“Go get your bag and then I can use that pretty mouth for something other than moaning my last name… not that I mind when you do that.”
You wasted no time in doing as you were told, forever thankful that all of your teammates were either still interacting with fans or showering. You grabbed all of your stuff and quickly followed Leah over to the away changing rooms.
She let you walk through, since none of the girls were present, grabbing your belongings and chucking them inside her cubby. You felt her figure cage you back into the nearest wall, her hands how playing with the hem of your shirt, inching it further up your waist until it was completely disregarded, and you were left in your sports bra and shorts.
“Why so quiet?” Leah asked, kissing down the column of your neck, fondling your breasts. You sighed at the growing ache in your core, throwing your head back when Leah’s knee came back into contact with your clit.
“Some— someone’s going to walk in.”
Leah snorted. “Like you would mind.”
You huffed, grabbing the back of her neck and pushing her head further down your body. Leah’s knee stopped in return, leaving you writhing at the loss of pressure.
“Use your words or you can get off yourself.”
“Like you could get me off.” You retorted.
“I don't make brats cum.” She spat, moving back up to tower over you. “I edge them until they’re desperate and getting themself off my thigh. I treat them like brats, and maybe you need to work a little fucking harder for what you want.”
“You were just teasing me!”
“You're just desperate.”
“No.”
“No?”
“Leah.” There it was. Music to her ears.
“What?”
You whined, using your hips to drag yourself along her knee.
“What was that, Baby? Couldn't hear you under all those whines.”
“Leah, c’mon.” You stated potently, getting more impatient by the minute. “I'm not begging.”
The number six shrugged, looking down at you with wide, innocent eyes like she had no clue what you were going on about. Like she didn't even realise that you were humping her leg longing for some relief.
“Begging for what?” She moved her finger painstakingly down your chest, tracing your abs ever so slowly.
“For you.”
“For me?” She questioned, feigning confusion. Her hand dipped into the waistband of your shorts, circling your clit over your underwear. “Answer me, Darling. What do you want me to do? I'm touching you.”
“Touch me more.”
Leah tutted, moving her hand away. You groaned, throwing your head back when no pleasure was offered. “I'm afraid that's not how you ask. It might get you somewhere at Chelsea, but at Arsenal, we treat our Captains with respect. Even our star girls use their manners in the North end.”
“Touch me more, please.”
“Where, Chelsea?” Leah moved closer to you, peeling off her own shirt, removing your shorts, leaving you in your underwear and bra. “Be a good girl and tell me where.” She asked, her body lowering itself closer to the ground. You watched her kneel before you, hands gripping your waist, kneading your hips, lips biting your inner thigh.
“My clit, Lee, please. I need you to touch me there.”
“Such a good girl for your Captain, aren't you?” Leah ran her tongue along your folds, your underwear pooled at your feet. Your legs were swung over her shoulders, your hands buried in her hair, pulling taunt to her ponytail and the hairs that had fallen out during the game. Your moans were still muffled by the bite in your lips, the nerves of someone hearing your desperation for your enemy is still evident in the way you kept your mouth shut.
It was when Leah’s tongue latched onto your clit, sucking harshly on the swollen bud that your noises fell so adamantly from your reddened lips. You felt Leah’s cocky smile, her chuckles sending vibrations of pleasure through your body.
“Sound so pretty, Baby.”
“Leah— fuck, Lee. I'm gonna—”
“You’re going to hold it. Taste so good, you can wait.”
The coil in your stomach was forming long before Leah had even started, and the more Leah attacked your bud, the more your orgasm led to burst. Your moans had doubled in volume when one of her hands came up to play with your nipple, pinching it and playing with the nub every time her tongue licked up your folds. Her other hand worked its way through your pussy, spreading your slick all over your thighs, letting it run down your shaking legs and make your skin glisten with the glossy arousal.
“Want Stanford to hear you,” Leah spoke from below you. You whined at the thought. You were in a state of pure bliss that all cautionary thoughts of interruption were so far gone. All you could think about was Leah’s face between your legs.
“Feels so good, Lee. Want to cum so bad for you.”
“You can hold it, baby.”
“Mh, Lee, please.”
Leah moaned at your whines, nuzzling her nose up against your clit, pinching your nipple hard, reeling at the moan you let out in response. She saw the way your hole clenched around nothing, smirking at the way you rolled your hips across her face, working your pussy into her mouth so easily. She felt powerful knowing she had you at her disposal. You were stunning always, but there was something about you now that set Leah off. It made her angry knowing that you weren't hers to fuck at her discretion. It made her protective over you in ways she had never felt before. You were Chelsea’s protege — everyone worried when going up against you.
“Leah.”
It wasn't like something had changed, but Leah had realised that her hate was actually protection and adoration. She wanted you for herself. She wanted to steer you away from anyone that would hurt you. She hated Chelsea, she despised the West side more than anything, and it wasn't the sex that made her realise this.
“Leah.”
It was her name coming from your lips.
“Cum for me, Baby.”
That was all you needed to hear before you were barreling over the edge, your legs relying entirely on the strength of Leah’s upper body to keep you balanced. Your moans exemplified the stimulation of your orgasm riding out, and Leah’s endeavours to lick the result of it up as it poured into her mouth and onto your thighs.
The woman made sure you had somewhat caught your breath before she moved, having a moment to catch her own breath and comprehend what just happened. When she knew you were able to stand independently, she moved over to her cubby, grabbing the baby wipes she always had handy, moving back down to her knees to clean the mess across your legs as you covered your chest back with your jersey, and later your shorts.
Leah moved to do the same, except she watched as you fumbled with what to do. She gave you a pointed look as if to question your thinking, and you simply sighed and waddled over to her, slight humiliation at your wobbly legs painting your cheeks as you grabbed your bag.
“You all good, Baby?” She asked, her voice no longer authoritative and rather empathetic.
“Yeah, thanks.” You nodded. “Erm… sorry for being… rude… actually I'm not sorry but I am.”
“Yeah, same,” Leah replied a cheeky grin settled on her complexion. “I think we can settle for friendly rivalry from now on.”
“If that's what you call this, then sure.” You added, laughing along with what to make of the situation, feeling more out of place than ever in the middle of the Arsenal room. “I better go.”
“I’ll drive you home.”
“Lee, I've got my license—”
“It wasn't a question, Chelsea.”
You stood there defeated, knowing internally that you had no way home after Millie had driven you to the stadium and would have left by now anyway. Leah must’ve known that by the way she wrapped an arm around your shoulder, pulling you into her chest.
“Besides, wouldn't want that Player of The Match Trophy getting forgotten now, would we?”
