Song Review: Grateful Dead - “Around and Around” -> “Sunshine Daydream” (Live, July 16, 1990)

The Grateful Dead on July 16, 1990, played it tight and slow when it came to “Around and Around.”

An ever-evolving member of the Dead’s repertoire, the Chuck Berry rocker was at this period not the full-bore face-stealer of a few years earlier. This isn’t a bad thing; but it is a different thing.

And the mellower delivery does not stop Bob Weir from shredding his vocal cords before and during “Sunshine Daydream,” aka the coda to “Sugar Magnolia.” Unfortunately, however, the video GDHQ shared for the latest edition of “All the Years Live” is incomplete and “Around” jumps unnaturally and prematurely into “Sunshine.”

Pranksters strike again.

being an autistic adult is weird in that i know i need to serve capitalism in order to survive, but everything capitalism requires to function is fucking stupid and i hate doing it, so my brain just says “don’t do it. it’s stupid, it’s useless. just go on a lovely walk instead.” which is good for my Human Self but terrible for my Acceptable Adult Self. I feel like being an autistic adult is being able to see how useless the demands of culture are, and being the designated Pointing Out Useless Cultural Needs Guy.

I feel like I have a never ending list of useless things I am required (by LAW!) to do, with little to no understanding of how to execute these tasks. if they were practical, I would understand them quickly, as is my function to this world. Yet because they are based in greed, leading to death, I cannot perform them, which leads to me being labled disabled by my fellow humans. The only reason I am “disabled” IMO is because I can’t play a foolish game, or lie to myself that its actually a good game I might win at some point. I would rather do literally any other thing.
