Since it's still New Zealand Comedy Month on my website (it's winding down quickly though!), I wanted to share with you all my latest Kiwi humor post: My favorite comedian cameos on Flight of the Conchords.
I've listed many well-known comics with memorable spots on the HBO show as well as a "where are they now" section about the series regulars.
I hope you enjoy the article, and please let me know if I have missed any meaningful cameos (Note: I only focused on stand-up comics, so Art Garfunkel and Daryl Hall did not apply. Sorry!).
I also have created a complete list page for all of my recent posts about Kiwi comedy.
Hope you have a spooky week before Halloween, and here's an appropriate poem for this time of year courtesy of Bo Burnham:
Mid-October
with leaves spilled like colored pencil shavings.
The streets dicing our town into neat, unfair portions.
Please consider voting for my Blorbo, Arjountum (also known as Arj) in @original-character-championship!
Today, I’m going to be introducing you to the rest of Arj’s Adventuring party! (Drawn by the lovely Pebble, thank you again)
First we have the Color System, who is a plural changeling and one of Arj’s party members, a Wild Magic Sorcerer. This is Marigold who Arj thinks is some fey creature, and has consistently tried to summon for crime reasons. She likes crime. They’re played by Pebble! There’s a few more (like 5 more) in the system but you’ll have to wait for them, because we have more party members to meet.
Next up we have Joey, an undead musician with a desire to spread Razz to the world.
Nobody but him knows what Razz is.
Finally we got disaster character Cawyn, a white dragonborn who’s statspread is so egregiously low that he has an entire prophecy about how he sucks.

They uh, haven’t made nice yet.
That’s it for Day 3, tune in tomorrow for some info on Arj’s equipment and a truly horrifying drawing from Pebble (thank you).
Now, I’m probably WAY overthinking this, so let me just indulge in some fan meaning-making:
I was just watching a season 1 FotC highlight vid and they included this scene (more extended than shown here), but it struck me as important that Murray doesn’t say “Yes” to the question about Jemaine being “caucasian”. This leads into the cop mimicking his accent seemingly in response to Murray answering “He’s from New Zealand”, but I can’t help but wonder if the lack of an affirmative response to the cop asking about Jemaine’s “race” was Jemaine, Bret, Rhys, and James Bobin standing up for Jemaine’s bi-racial heritage. Even if that’s overthinking this tiny moment, I like that they didn’t say he was caucasian. In interviews about him and Taika’s collaboration, Taika’s Māori heritage has been highlighted prominently and Jemaine has just been referred to as being a “New Zealander”/”a Kiwi” by the press. The erasure of his native-ness is not cool and I like to think this little scene serves as a public denouncement of that mislabeling.
my sister also admitted to me last night that she’d seen my posts of Cielbug on her dash, but she hadn’t paid attention to who was posting them or what they were and she thought it was weird fanart of Jojo from Horton Hears a Who
