I think it’s safe enough to finally talk publicly about it.

Basically the vday video was a video Phil made for Dan for Valentine’s Day. He uploaded it privately onto his YouTube channel which Dan had the password to so Dan could see it. At this time, Dan was on vacation (pretty sure in India) and he wouldn’t have been able to see a video of that quality just through text or email. Shitty luck, the same time he privately uploaded it, infamous YouTube glitch happened where all private videos became public. And one of the videos that went public was the v day video.

There’s a lot of jokes about Dan in 2012, but it’s actually really depressing. Dan wasn’t out yet and he had a fuck ton of trauma surrounding his sexuality. 2012 is when dnp started blowing up enough to where they became part of popular early YouTube so people saved the v day video when it was uploaded.

They’ve only addressed it a few times in which they said it was an April Fool’s prank, which obviously doesn’t make sense, but what were they supposed to say? According to legend, people would keep reuploading the video and Phil would spend hours taking them down one by one and it would say “AmazingPhil took down this video for copyrite.”

It was a catalyst to just a really shitty period for dnp. All aggressively heterosexual clips from Dan’s liveshows are my 2012. “FYI I like vagina” is 2012. People were contacting his 14 year old brother to ask about him and Phil. That alone is both fucked up to drag a kid into this, but remember that Dan still wasn’t out to his family. It was probably so fucking terrifying when his YouTube life, especially regarding his sexuality and relationship, clashed with his family life for the first time.

There’s a noticeable difference between their relationship in videos from 2009-2011 and 2012-2015. And it is most likely because dnp blew up pretty big in 2012 and started going from making YouTube videos for fun to doing it as a job with the added pressure of millions watching. And the catalyst, or at least metaphorical catalyst, from the switch between being openly touchy feely giggles to strict, five feet apart mates is considered to be the vday vid.

It was a big problem in the phandom since it was leaked to around 2017ish. A lot of people were circulating it and word was that they were still being taken down years later, implying that Phil was still searching for the video years later.

The phandom used to be primarily 12-16 year olds. And when you’re that age, speaking from experience, you don’t understand the complexities of the situation and just kinda thought “teeheehee phan is real XD.” When in reality, it was a very sensitive and serious thing that wasn’t meant to ever be seen by the public. It’s literally where the cherry lube and kissing at the Manchester Eye reference is from.

Rightfully so, the video became more and more taboo to mention and most people caught on that it was a shitty thing to upload or share it. It used to be really taboo and affectionately was often referred to as “the video that shall not be named.”

It honestly has a backstory that is so story-like that it seems unreal. So much had to happen for it to be leaked and the impact it had on them was so large it’s like a black hole in phandom history.

It’s possible not all of this is accurate, this is just the basic lore of it. So while I don’t think the internet police will drag you to prison for saying you watched the vday video, this is the context behind it. Do with it what you will.

Spending your entire preteen, teen, and now 20s as a phannie will fry your brain in unimaginable ways. I knew this off the top of my head😭

i am not blaming dan or anything (and obviously this has been a joke in lgbt spaces for forever) but i do think he unintentionally enabled the like "homophobia is a good thing actually" type jokes and like i definitely make them too, and im always seeing jokes on here like "god why are they Like This" etc. but i think some people just dont know the line or view them so much as friends that they don't think about how it could read differently from someone who is essentially a stranger. ive said smth similar before of like, dnp (ESP DAN...) used to be not great at drawing boundaries esp since youtube and social media culture were so different back then, but now even when they draw hard lines ppl either continue to step right over them, or dont understand exactly where the line goes. they dont care if u write smut or dead dove fics, they dont care if u make shippy fanart, but like maybe dont tag them in buttsecks? i was talking w a friend a little bit ago about the exact differences between the generally speaking philosophies between older fans and younger fans. it seems that older fans embrace creating transformative works and having their own interpretations on who dnp are, whereas younger fans want to know dnp on a personal level and want dnp to know Them and recognize them not just as fans but as people. and OFC there are older phannies who want the parasocial interaction and younger phannies who write fic and people who do neither, and people who do both! (hi :3) but then some people have a difficult time being able to marry the two ideas maybe?

heres the truth. dan and phil are real human beings who have made a career largely off their shared dynamic together, BOTH because they genuinely enjoy creating and being together AND because a lot of people really get invested in it and it makes them more money. they don't mind fic or art, you probably SHOULDNT tag them in the saucy stuff, but they know it's out there and generally have been respectful of fan spaces and knowing where OUR boundaries lie (altho maybe the line was toed w the roblox video but thats debatable.) they really do care about their audience both in order to please us and keep us coming back, AND because they see how much theyve affected us as people and have a deep *Sarapocial Relationship with us.

there are both parasocial AND tranformative ways to break boundaries, and oftentimes they can be one and the same. they aren't our friends they arent our dads and they arent objects with no feelings. they don't stalk our accounts but they are still able to see whatever we post publicly. theyve seen so many horrible things and have had many horrible things happen to them, and while no one can be certain something like that won't happen again, now that they have been able to be more honest with us about a lot of things they are able to trust us a little bit more.

God drama where do we even begin?

So! The Sims came back and dnp made Dil & Tabitha young again. Dalien is an emo teen now. Dab and Evan are going to get married by the end of the year. They decided their house desperately needed a makeover, so they bulldozed the whole thing and are planning to start from scratch in the new high school world.

Then after that spooky week happened. They played a game called "Don't Scream" where the objective is to well...not scream when the game throws various jumpscares at you. Dan grabbed Phil's hand after getting jumpscared and they replayed it not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES. They played Poppy Playtime, a weird indie golfing game, another indie horror game called Elevated Dread, Five Nights at Freddy's. THEN to conclude spooky week, there was The Baking video. Omg drama the baking video...it still feels like a fever dream.

So they baked spooky cinnamon rolls & Phil (dressed as the devil) convinced Dan to put on his nun costume. He completely LOST it when Dan came out. He turned bright red and was giggling like a schoolboy. Dan kept making it worse by flirting with him too. He ran his hand down Phil's arm suggestively, which already had Phil struggling to keep it together (God this sounds like a phanfic but I swear that's how it happened), but THEN Dan flicked his devil horns and Phil totally lost his cool and had to go squat down behind their kitchen island for a minute. Dan's ass cheeks were fully on display in several shots bc the dress was so short. Dan really leaned into the bimbo persona in the nun costume, and Phil embraced the himbo and as a result, they were the stupidest they've ever been. They don't know how to do basic math, or spell or know who discovered gravity, but that's ok bc they're hot. At one point they pressed up close together and made one of those "me and my partner saw you across the room" jokes and it was genuinely funny but also totally wild. Then the video ended with Dan stripping completely naked. I can't believe what I just typed either.

THEN when spooky week was done they came back with a video where they looked at a fan-recreation of their first London apartment in Roblox. It was nostalgic, impressive and incredibly creepy at the same time. Dan probably had to go lie down on the floor and think about his life choices after it.

THEN google feud came back. It was dumb as always. Dan called Phil cousin, so now I'm on cousin hill. They used the video as an excuse to bring back Dan vs Phil so we can look forward to that in the near future.

And THEN they dealt the ultimate psychic damage with the cat video, which you saw so I don't need to give you a summary. Queenusagi of Lazy Days fame designed their legalize catboys sweater, which is really cool. I love how they're commissioning phannie artists now, but also Why are they doing that?

THEN they went back into Roblox and looked at more disturbing creations that were probably made by some poor 12 yr old in 2018. There was a ladydoor room where the song was playing and it was II themed. They went into a room that had recreations of several of their most ironic moments throughout the years including the pinof tackle. To which Dan said "what are they doing honey? Wrestling.... they're wrestling..."

And that's what you missed on Dan and Phil. I probably forgot some things bc soooo much happened. But yeah Drama. it's been a weird and wild ride. Glad to have you back.

not to be anything like a demon phannie(i never was thank god) and talk extensively about dan and phil's personal life but it makes me feel too much to think about how even though dan seemed comfortable in his sexuality before he was out (always talking about gay celebrities that were attractive and queer movies and media and making vaguely gay jokes) he was struggling very hard with being gay and thats one thing to deal with but an extremely large group of teenagers constantly speculated about his relationship and tried to "prove it" and hell he even explicitly said in his coming out video that his relationship with phil "wasnt just romantic" and that theyre soulmates, and yet people still speculate and talk about their relationship and try to get more information

it sounds deeply traumatizing to have your sexuality speculated about by a big chunk of the internet for an insanely long time, and of course it would make you want to be private so that your relationship however it developed or changed wouldnt be scrutinized, and sometimes ive speculated myself about the nature of their relationship but the extremes people go and how they make every thing they post about their relationship is hard to watch,like dont get me wrong i love seeing how open the guys are now but im still terrified it wont last long because of how awful the internet is

and yeah i know, im speculating way too much about the feelings and motivations of real life people which is something other people did at an alarming and damaging rate,but i've been watching their content for more than a decade and this new wave of content has really meant the world to me and it saddens me that we lost it for so long, and i know that era of the internet was a different time but fans are STILL like this, hell its worse because real human people get accused of queerbaiting, can you imagine if that happened to dan or phil? i dont know if dan would have ever came back or came out

the "phandom" is one of the biggest examples ive seen of fans being more focused on a possible relationship of content creators to a very scary and invasive degree, rather than their content themselves and dont get me wrong i shipped them too, but theres a certain threshold that you just shouldnt cross when it comes to real human people, they arent characters, theyre People

i think we need to just make peace with the fact that we know some very important things: they have a house together, theyre still best friends, theyre soulmates and they seem happy and thats all we Need to know and if they never share any more thats okay

i dont want the "phandom" to jeopardize that again, i want them to make content as long as theyre happy, not risk pushing them away

i was kinda struggling to even make gifs after watching the video, cause i kept thinking about how the pinofs have been a thing in my life since i was a kid, and how it hurt when they ended, but then now getting to remember them with love and joy with dnp and all of us here. as cheesy as the whiskers quote is, that’s what eventually did it for me too though, like i just couldn’t hold back the tears. 🥲

the reflecting on past selves thing throughout was so beautiful to see, cause they really have grown a lot since all those videos were made, and yet they still do some things exactly the same. like the little songs they come up with about random things, phil saying the sound barrier thing, and dan jumpscaring phil. but in many ways they’re not the same as they used to be, which is why when dan said he finally recognized himself in pinof 10… oof it was a lot, im just so proud of and happy for him 🥹 it all goes to show how far they’ve both come personally and professionally.

even though dnp have thanked us for our support many many times, it never stops feeling like 😭😭😭😭 though. it’s so genuine, so heartfelt. i feel like that doesn’t happen in many fandoms, not ones i’ve been a part of at least. whenever they say it, i know for sure they mean it. and that means the world to me, cause i feel like i owe them a million thanks.

i’m sorry to hear you weren’t able to see them on tour, that really sucks. i couldn’t go see their tours either, and i was really upset about that for a long time. it can be really tough not having those memories, especially when a lot of phannies do. i did finally see dan on tour this year, so that was an absolute highlight. i hope we all get to see them on tour together in the future though, who knows!!

Oh well hello welcome back! Very long rambley answer under the cut :)

Tbh there's been way more insane stuff that's happened since, but in 2022 the biggest thing that had happened was Dan released his video "Why I Quit YouTube" where he announced that he was going on a solo tour ("We're All Doomed") and making some YouTube videos to go along with / promote the tour ("Dystopia Daily"). So I don't remember the exact details (I bet if you search dan and phil iceland on tumblr you might find some stuff), but Dan's tour was supposed to end in Iceland, and based on some stuff his friend PJ said on twitch it seemed like maybe he (and his gf) and Dan and Phil were going to have a vacation in Iceland after the last show. And idk if there was anything else (like maybe based on stuff they were liking on social media idk lol) people were like... what if they are having a wedding in Iceland after the last show? Apparently Iceland has been advertised as a gay wedding tourism destination too so idk. I think tumblr phannies were just bored and clowning but also it was 2022 which was the infamous prophesized year they were supposed to get married (based on a joke Crabstickz made years ago), so there was this thought like, what if they get married in early 2023 (when the Iceland show was supposed to be) out of spite.

Anyways, the Iceland show ended up getting cancelled. I'm not exactly sure why, but there were some other cancelled shows too and some people suspect it was due to poor ticket sales / too many shows in one city / issues with venues (maybe they were scheduling some that were too big) / issues with promotion (dan's management and touring agencies left most of the promotion to him outside of the standard local venues in-house promotion). Both Dan and Phil got new management this year after all that (Dan now has an agent for his comedy / touring stuff, Phil has an agent for his own channel, and then they have another agent for the gaming channel).

Anyways, 2023 kicked off and Dan and Phil started doing all kinds of insane stuff, which that's a whole other long post about how wild this year has been (Japhan 3.0, OnlyPhans, Gaming Channel comeback, Dan being a slutty nun for Halloween baking, Catboy calendar, etc) and they have been pretty open and comfortable together online lately (while still being fairly private) and more settled in their lives that some people actually think they might actually be getting married. Which, idk maybe we are just being insane again but this time I actually do think it's more believable lol. They bought/designed a house together (though I think it's actually a condo? penthouse? something like that) and Phil has had some health issues so even though they might not really be the kind to want to get married, some people are wondering if they might do it for legal reasons and also to maybe celebrate their relationship with family since Dan came out to his family and then like 9 months after their coming out videos the pandemic happened. Also doesn't help that next year is their 15th anniversary, which the anniversary of the first day they met takes place on the same day Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance are performing at the We Were Young Festival 2024 lmaooo. I mean some people are still convinced that they are queerplatonic and romantic exes or something like that but there's a lot they have shared that heavily implies that they aren't.

Okay, now the Phil tag examiner... Idk there was this blog that kept sending people asks anytime they posted something in the Dan and Phil or dnp tags that didn't explicitly mention Phil, and were like "hello this is the Phil tag examiner please keep posts only about Dan out of the Dan and Phil tag" and it was kinda funny to be honest. It stopped after a while idk what happened to them but no one was taking them seriously.

Anyways, I got back into dnp while Dan was on his tour about a year ago, and it's been such a wild year and now is probably like one of the best times to start watching them again there's sooo much new content with the gaming channel and they are being very authentically themselves it's really great.

Sooo.. what did you think of the show? How was it? (Only if you want to share of course!!)

Soooo it's gonna be messy because I'm still reeling from 24 hours without sleep and then 4 hours of sleep during the day and I'm not very good at processing what happened aldkfj

First of all I'm so happy and thankful for all the people who I met up with. They are the best and I had the an absolute blast. I don't know if it's a phannie specific occurrence when you meet people from the internet but we were all on so very similar wave lengths and we talked for hours about fascinating topics and of course dnp. I felt so safe with them and I could talk about basically everything. So thank you so much Kate, Katie, Magda, Jana and Jo <333 you are the best

About the show on its own .. hmm it was definitely a budget version. I'm so sad we didn't get the rainbow lights, the eclipse light and the cubes :( The venue looks godawful from the outside, and you have ultrasound and tile shop in the same building but the inside was quite hipstery and not as bad. Very postcommunistic tho. Also the church, cemetery and closed mall just outside gave very specific vibe to it aksjdjhf I got the cheapest ticket so I didn't have meetngreet but it still felt surreal to be in the same room as Dan. I sat quite far to the back but at the isle so I had not the worst view. Seeing him on stage didn't feel real, I felt like I was watching a video with a room full of rowdy queers. And even if in Poland we weren't really meeting new people and mingling socially amongst the separate groups, sitting in the audience still felt like being a part of some bigger thing. What irritated me were the bar lights that were on the whole duration of the show and kinda ruined the immersion. Also I was cold. About the show's content: wow Dan sings really good, I loved looking at him enjoying himself so much on the stage, this really was his passion project and I felt like he did it mostly for himself but also wanted to give us a good message too. I think I enjoyed the most the part with sending to hell jk rowling, jeff bezos and putin (the scream for him was the loudest :')) and sparing tony the tiger because tigers and endangered. Polish specific madlips were also very good. Bubbles? It was weird hearing it in zloties. And my friends in the front row get soaked. Also daaan we don't have student's depts here?? The unis are free. As a lot of people said before he was really careful about the communist part because he underlined that NOT like soviet russia but like Denmark he said I think? I was very focused on every word he said and was listening to him carefully but I don't remember that. In the calendar part, I'm so happy they have their take away fries days on saturdays 🥹 the time he most constantly feel the most content... And the most important part.. the monologue at the end. The second part of the show was shorter, wasn't it? Because it ended so fast for me. I didn't cry because I'm absolutely emotionally disconnected and can't feel much of anything. But I love him so much. I was looking at him and trying really hard to telepathically convey to him how much he is loved here. The hopeful message is so important to me. It gets better. And we can help someone. We should reach out. We can't give up because even my stupid reblogging of some posts might be the one thing that saves someone. Very interesting to think about virtue signaling in this context as he was saying. I loved when people started cheering after he said he's gay and he was like wow took you so long of the show to realise this akdjdbbfjf and yeah I loved the gay jokes and him smacking his butt multiple times. I was wondering how many people were there randomly because something gay was happening and how many people only vaguely knew who he was and watched him only a bit in the past. Because there was so many references and when he shows bits of his old videos? I wonder what thoughts they had. And the worst part is that he fucking sneaked out so fast before we left the building :((( we waited for him after because we didn't believe when someone said to us that he left already. And I had the train back at 4 am so I didn't have much else to do. Absolutely don't recommend warszawa centralna train station during the night. I'm so glad I wasn't alone. Dan also said fuck Warsaw I don't want to spend any additional minute here bye. Hope he has fun in Helsinki.

Overall I'm proud of myself that I did go even if I'm often scared to leave my house at all. Warsaw show felt a bit like a bastard show added later on with very cut expanses. But I'm glad he went here and I'm so happy I saw him. Hopefully I don't fali my exam because of it

This is from agesssssssss ago referring to a tag on this post (I’m sorry for such a late late late late answer!

Gosh the whole event feels like 10 years ago and also yesterday 😩 let me dig way back in my brain and see what’s still in there —

This was all surrounding the infamous ttlmt “laughter food and sex” and “things coming in and out of my mouth, apparently” moment, which was for context because I think we forget the passage of time but well over a year before Dan came out. He did a liveshow after posting ttlmt where he seemed a little miffed people were really fixating on the sex comments when he felt the bigger “point” of the video was his struggle with authenticity, and came with clips prepared of other takes with slightly different phrasing he decided against — the attitude wasnt well received, it felt condescending and like he was angry at viewers for talking about something he had purposely put there to be talked about (I’m empathetic to both Dan and the people that were upset by this btw) so then basically the gifs in the post are from a video Phil posted with a crazy quick turnaround, very much with the attitude of damage control and trying to smooth things over. There’s a lot of behind the scenes stuff we have the info of now that I think helps with dnp’s perspective— Dan’s mental health at the time was so tumultuous they mention in the mukbang they genuinely thought they were gonna have to cancel ii, and we know from BIG that dan was trying to come out to his family and post a coming out video amidst all this (I am eternally grateful he allowed himself that extra year of breathing room, jesus)

These are all things that like ,, fuck it was a long time ago and I’m sure to new phannies or even phannies who like only watched main channel vids and not liveshows this all totally went over their heads, I’m sure the video is fine fun filler for them. I got soft in the tag thinking about how even with all this contextual baggage I swath around this video, Phil is still there, being smiley and gentle and tactile :’) he’s trying to make Dan laugh as much as he’s trying to make any of us, and that’s always when Phil is his brightest

A lot of straight YouTubers who got shipped also made and still make videos about it so your point about them egging on phannies doesnt stand. What upset Dan was not the fics, it’s was the constant digging of his past to find out his sexuality which is exactly what larries do to H&L. You can interpret things as “signaling” I guess but there’s no concrete evidence they actually have been doing that so larrie behavior is really unacceptable.

So idk why you brought up straight youtubers or how that compares to D&P and L&H. Straight duos like Jack and Mark who were shipped at one point always laughed about it and made jokes but it was obvious to 95% of people they weren't a real thing [J&M made it clear to] so the ship mostly died down. No ship from two most likely straight people came close to or was anything like D&P and L&H.

With shipping everyone knows the biggest thing is online fandoms for it writing fanfics and drawing fanart for the ships. It just doesn't make sense to me that someone would think what Dan claims to have but back in peak duo days made videos where they read fanfic, looked through fanart on tumblr calling them cute, and then writing and animating their own fanfic involving the two of them. Everyone knows that would lead people to believe it's fine to continue "shipping" them.

With D&P along with L&H no one is heavily digging up their personal past to come to the conclusions they did/have. It's just us paying attention to and mentioning what they PUBLICLY posted on social media or making note of how they acted around eachother which lead us to stating these two are together and definitely not straight.

You can't see D&P heavily flirting in videos [with obvious cuts where they kissed], Dan publicly posting on social media about liking men, L&H flirting in every interview, Louis coming out with a song about how love is only for the brave, im to far gone to pray + him and is lover came so far from their princess park days, Harry coming out with a song about how he likes to "do things" with men + songs that correlate to Louis songs/relationship and NOT go hey I don't think their straight and they are probably a couple.

I REALLY hate antis who have 100% never been a fan D&P and never watched a single video of there's taking what Dan said to use against larries. You can't compare D&P to L&H in this sense given D&P are two youtubers [not in any sort of binding contracts] with Dan who was unsure of who he was for years and not out to anyone but Phil.

Where as L&H are two major singers involved in an industry that is run by homophobic people who made a lot of money off of them during 1D [biggest boyband of the 2010s] and currently makes a lot of money off of Harry. Along with L&H telling everyone they can that they aren't straight and in a relationship. Plus L&H make it clear they WANT to be officially out to EVERYONE but can't bc they are under contracts by people who think being publicly open would be detrimental to them and a loss of money bc of course all these assholes care about is money.

L&H aren't straight and in a commited relationship with one another but your most likely a toxic anti who has never once looked into why it is we believe that so you will always see the idea of larry as farfetched. Really no matter what we post about larry and no matter if you antis read it you antis will always think it's bad to post about larry unless they were to officially come out. The day that happens though antis will quietly unstan and go.

Idk why I’m saying this to you, I just usually like your takes on this kind of stuff, so I’m going to ramble for a second.

I’ve been seeing a few people mentioning that this new video phil did for google, specifically the parts where he’s playfully snuggling up to his co host, made them really uncomfortable, and I… don’t see why. It’s a video. It’s a professional setting, it was all in good fun, so what’s the problem? Is it just because it’s not Dan? Would it be less uncomfortable to see phil snuggling up to Dan? Is it just general homophobia? I don’t get it. Not to mention that most of the people I’ve seen being uncomfortable with it are totally fine with Dan making horny jokes on Twitter. Why is it okay for Dan to go online and talk about wanting a daddy to beat him up or whatever, but phil even jokingly leaning on a man crosses some sort of line? Phannies are weird.

I don't know what you're seeing, but the only thing I've seen is the but-what-about-Dan discomfort (not that there can't be homophobia in the phandom, but I haven't seen any on this topic), in a way that I see very similarly when Dan makes jokes about looking for casual sex. I honestly barely noticed anything cuddly in the vid (I just noticed the head-on-shoulder bit) because the vid did not attract much of my attention, but the responses I've seen have been what I would predict. Obviously there's a lot of variation within a fandom of this size, but a lot of us are here at least partially because of the appeal of D&P's relationship and chemistry, and especially now that they've acknowledged that, seeing them joke-flirt/pretend to be single/etc. is likely to set off some not totally happy sensors in our brains. (Obviously there are some people who panic like D&P must have broken up every time something like this happens, but I honestly don’t see that in my corner and I’m very much not that.)

For me, it's a giant eyeroll. It just feels forced and awkward and I don't really get why they still do it (I know it's at least part about different audiences, but we're there for all of it and there's whiplash there). To me it seems extra weird how Dan doesn't get mentioned in these very performative Google-promotes-boring-stuff videos and in Phil's other content, he tends toward bringing Dan into things where he kinda isn't even that relevant and without explanation. (It's forced in both directions in this one, with the thing of Harold being overly complimentary about watching Phil's stuff all the time, but then he's unfamiliar with the word "yeet" and also with the fact that Phil doesn't upload very often in terms of Youtuber norms.)

Fwiw I am definitely team they're grownass men who can do what they want with their brands, and Dan's hookup jokes are more annoying because they're more played out, but I generally find any humor that leans on any level of pretending like they're not in a committed relationship just feels really fake and kinda reminds me of closeted times in a way I don't enjoy.

A 2 for 1 Taste of classic drama on the tour. Trying to throw some predictions at the wall before we get this thing going.

Even better if the glitch happens first. Because then it would be brief panic followed by the emotional support phannies going “no, don’t worry, this happens sometimes, it’s just a bug, they’re still in love” and then Dan will get on stage and say he’s single and ready to mingle and it’ll be like a nuke went off

I think it’s actually pretty cool that people are still joining this community for the first time even now! It’s nice that there are new people who are enthusiastic and excited about things in a way maybe some of us who’ve been here forever aren’t.

Also, can I just say that I know it’s a running joke in some circles to call this fandom half dead/dying but it’s really depedant on who you associate yourself with in the community. Because I’m still seeing a plethora of incredible fan works. There’s still hundreds of new gifs and fics and art and metas being uploaded regularly. And if I’m being honest, there’s a passion here that hasn’t been in awhile. There’s theories and excitement and projects happening! It’s all about your attitude and the attitude of the people around you. But my dash is very much alive :)

FAKE BABY DRAMA omg i just rejoined the phannies after they came out please tell me everything

jeeeeeeeeesus. so. like. over a year ago this girl on twitter was like “i’m pregnant! :)” and she had a big following so like. everyone knew. and people were like Yay or just Whatever. and ii was happening too, so this girl had her ii show and m&g and she used her m&g to do the baby gender reveal with her friends and dan and phil (there’s a video of it somewhere and it’s great) and then she announced that the baby boy, Philip Daniel (yes. that was the name), was coming in december.

ok, so ii is about to end, dan and phil do a liveshow, and for some reason this (”pregnant”) girl throws a tantrum because dan and phil didn’t notice her and hadn’t noticed her in 2 weeks. and of course she gets backlash because that’s just a really fucking dumb reason to throw a tantrum over. and anyway. suddenly her friends are like “omg she’s in labor!” and everyone is like?????/ but it’s september??? the baby was due december???????/ and apparently it was supposed to be some sort of “stress induced” labor because - and i shit you not - Dan And Phil Hadn’t Noticed Her In 2 Weeks. fucking insane.

and anyway. the next day. this Supposed new mom is just. back on stan twitter. just stan tweeting. like. she didn’t just have a whole ass premature baby to worry about. so, you know, people with half a brain cell were like. “hmmm. sounds suspicious” but because this girl had a big following, of course her minions went after anyone who was like. pointing out obvious flaws with the whole thing.

and then she posted a VERY, HEAVILY edited picture of “her” and “her baby” at the hospital. like. just A LOT OF FILTERS. and obviously the lighting and shit didn’t match. it was clearly fake. but her stans didn’t care and kept being like. pulling the Sexism Card and being like “i can’t believe y’all would treat a new mom like this! y’all are so horrible!” and we were just like. No. She’s Just Lying To You. but these people just kept attacking people for Just Being Right.

and then i think dan tweeted something and she posted a picture of a like. a big ass baby, like, at least 3 month old baby, smiling and she was like “watching dan liveshows and he just smiled! i’m raising a dannie :)” and she was like. legit tagging dan and using this baby that wasn’t even HERS to get a dan notice (this is so humiliatinnnnggggg) and everyone who can think was like “ok there’s no way that’s her baby, there’s no way an actual hospital would let a premature baby leave a day after being born, these pictures look weird, etc” and more people were convinced that there was no baby. but her followers were still there for some reason. like they just refused to see the evidence?

but some people closer to her started doing some digging themselves and found out some more evidence that the baby was fake (they even called the supposed hospital this girl supposedly had the baby and found out they didn’t deliver babies lmao) and her closer friends still wanted to believe her so they kept trying to meet up with her and meet the baby but she kept rescheduling, etc. and anyway. one day everyone accepted that yup. there was no baby. she lied for clout and that’s it. she disappeared. one of her friends (who i think has me muted on twitter probably because i was laughing at the fake baby) made a youtube video about it cause why not use other people’s clout chasing to clout chase and now it’s just a running joke that i personally find hilarious.
