“I will not retreat to safer grounds, if that is your proposal, Chancellor?” Míriel snapped as she turned her head sharply towards his direction.

“Of course not, Your Majesty.” Pharazôn acknowledged, his tone apologetic but with a hidden sense of merriment, as if there was a smile behind his words. “We both know you are too stubborn to do that.”

Míriel turned her attention back to the city, trying her best to regain her composure as she steadied her hastened breath. She did not expect to lose her poise over such a comment, but she did not want others to suddenly deem her as fragile when she had stood with confidence for so long.

“What I offer is a different kind of proposal,” he continued, “one that will free you from your guilty conscience.”

OR: After being refused the support she needed to raise another army by the Court of Kings, Míriel’s plans to uphold her vow to Galadriel and the Southlanders are halted indefinitely. As the years go by she can feel the strength of her reign dwindling as the people’s anger becomes more relentless, with ever-growing protests occurring in the streets. Seeing her anxiousness as an opportunity, Chancellor Pharazôn gives her a life-bounding offer that she cannot refuse, but is Elendil too late to dissuade her from his proposal.
