Deathworlders everywhere but in Space
This is sitting in my brain because I haven't seen anyone else do this, but take a second to think about this: There are other deathworlders in space, terrifying ones, huge monster orc things. They are massive and nightmarish and impossibly strong. So thats why humans stand out. Thats how we survive. Human's are terrifying because we aren't built for one biome, one climate or even one planet. We aren't necessarily the strongest or fastest or scariest looking, but we're built to survive fucking everything. What if other deathworlder's are almost always only made to survive in one climate? (similar to some of the most deadly predators on earth currently) All the other deathworlders are terrifying, yes, but the second they step off their planet they're weak. Massive aliens of hulking muscle but their planet's gravity is a lot lower than the standard, so they barely meet the average strength bar whenever they go outside their gravity zone. Aliens that have venomous spikes all over their body and look gnarly as shit but their venom has practically no effect on 99% of discovered intergalactic species. Deathworlders whose planet is the nether from minecraft IRl, but they can't survive in any other temperature for any amount of time because their body just can't handle the cold and regulate their temperate (or, vice versa for tundra species). Aquatic species that are kraken-like nightmares, giant sirens and deadly squid-like beings. But they can't leave their home at all, because theres a very specific chemical makeup of their water that isn't currently found within their life-span distance travel. Deathworlders that genuinely can barely survive off planet and are frail compared to even the most docile prey species whenever they have to travel. Their called deathworlders because going to their planet is certain death, but if they leave they'll be meeting death just as quickly. And then along come humans, and everyones like, oh, another deathworlder, nothing to worry abou- wait. These guys dont seem to loose any of their natural strength off planet... and their fast and strong... and- AND THEY CAN SURVIVE IN PRACTICALLY ANY CLIMATE IN THE KNOWN UNIVERSE??? HELLO? Oh and of course their predators. Of course most of their planet is completely uninhabitable for most of us. Mhm, yep. thats fair. Totally Basically, deathworlders are a thing, the more common 'terrifying alien monster' type, but their harmless because they can't survive like everyone else. They can't thrive like humans can. It scares the shit out of everyone for a wholeeeeee while, after all, no one ever expected a deathworlder that doesn't die.

i love nerdy ajax <3
☆ pairings: tutor!childe x bimbo!reader
☆ warnings: unprotected sex (wrap it before u tap it fellas), creampie, reader refers to childe as ajax, not totally proofread
ajax watches as you idly flip the pages in the near 10 pound textbook on marine biology, clearly not even pretending to at least skim the pages. this was going nowhere.
“so, uh, valentine's day is coming up. any plans?”
you roll your eyes, “valentine's Day is just a commercial scam. i don't waste my time on that lovey-dovey crap.”
“oh, well, i was just curious. anyway, let's focus on these aquatic biomes.”
you sigh and turn to look at the ginger next to you and pause. ajax’s eyes are shifting between everything in the room, the damn textbook, the wall, the door, everything but you. you weren’t unaware of the effect you had on guys, what with your tiny tube tops, miniskirts and shiny lip glosses.  unfortunately, there was more to life than shiny and revealing clothes and you desperately needed to pass this marine bio midterm. so, you enlisted the help of ajax, the nervous mess next to you, he’s top of the class and surprisingly not at all bad looking. easily over 6 ft, lean build, bright orange hair that was messy but like in a good way, and god those gorgeous blue eyes.
“y’know, you're cute, ajax. maybe there's more to you than just textbooks.” you rest your chin on your hand and peer at him.
“um. what?” ajax’s brain nearly short circuits at the fact that the very hot girl next to him just called him cute and to make matters worse you’re now staring at him and leaning close and- oh, you smell like flowers. and your lips are plump and pink, pursed in a thoughtful, expressive way. he wonders what they would taste like, would they taste like the strawberry flavored gloss you applied a few moments earlier?
“i thought nerds were like, all glasses and braces and total virgin looking but you're actually pretty hot.” you smile flirtatiously, watching ajax’s cheeks pinken as he shifts in his seat.
screw it, you're not getting anywhere with this review and god knows your pretty little head could use a break.
ajax’s eyes widen when he feels your lips crash onto his. one of your hands on his shoulder while the other rests on his knee. he was right, your lips do taste like strawberries and he can feel the sticky residue on his own lips. his own hand comes up to tentatively cup your cheek, accepting that this really was happening and leaning deeper into the kiss.
eventually, you both need air and briefly break apart. you waste no time in removing your baby tee, shivering at the cool air hitting your bare skin. ajax stares in awe at your plush tits and hardened nipples and quickly follows in removing his own shirt. you gaze appreciatively at his toned stomach and move over to sit on his lap and latch your lips together again. this time you grind down and moan softly at the friction of your clothed cunt and his very hard bulge. ajax’s hands are gripping your waist and his head is reeling. frankly, he can't even think right now, all he knows is that his dick is practically trying to burst out of his jeans from the hot girl’s pussy on him. which you can definitely feel.
“aww, I’m flattered. looks, or should i say feels, like we’re on the same page here,” you giggle reach in between you two to undo his belt.
“i-um,iI don't have a condom,” the ginger murmurs into your neck.
“no need for that, i’m on the pill,” you reassure him and make work of his zipper. you lean back on the desk just enough to tug his boxers down so that his cock springs out. it slaps against his stomach and your mouth waters at the sight. he’s so fucking big that you briefly wonder if it’ll even fit, you wouldn’t have thought someone like ajax was hiding something like this in his pants if you hadn’t seen it for yourself. and it’s pretty, the prettiest cock you’ve ever seen, thick and flushed red at the tip. there’s a bulging vein running along the side that’s begging for your tongue to run over it.
ajax squirms anxiously under your eyes, “is it…okay?”
“ ‘okay’? ajax, i can't believe you’ve been hiding this from me,” you press a chaste kiss to the corner of his lips, “i definitely need you in me now,” and with that you're standing up and removing the rest of your clothing. ajax watches with hooded eyes as you pull down your tiny shorts and your panties with them. even from your frontside he can see how plump your ass is.
and then you’re guiding his cock in between your folds, slowly sinking down and wincing from the stretch. ajax’s hands wander and squeeze your ass, gripping it so hard you’re sure it’ll leave red marks. but it's worth it with the way ajax sounds and looks so good under you. his head is thrown back with a loud groan falling out his lips. with the way you’re bouncing on his cock and squeezing around him so deliciously, he’s not sure he’ll last very long. his tip is hitting up into your cervix repeatedly, making you whimper sweetly.
“fuck— you feel so good,” Ajax gasps in between his own moans, you laugh breathily, you could say the same thing.
his brows furrowed together as he feels a familiar coil in his stomach beginning to tighten, “i’m gonna- you should get off before i- fuck,” his hot cum spurts deep inside you before you can even tell him that no, there's no way you're going to let this man pull out of you. instead, you moan at the feel of his cock twitching inside of you as your own orgasm washes over you. you sink down on him one last time before your cunt’s squeezing around him and you're crying his name into the air.
your legs are shaky when you try to stand up, his cock slipping out with ease and a blend of his and your cum starting to leak down your thighs. ajax stuffs his dick back in his pants when you move to grab your shirt, ignoring the uncomfortable gooey mess.
and he surprises you when he stands and grabs your hand and pulls you back in for a kiss. It’s sweet and gentle and you’re both smiling. “um, thanks, i think,” He grins sheepishly against your lips.
your eyes widen at such simple words, no guy has ever kissed you after sex, much less thanked you, they just used you as a method to get their dick wet.
taking Ajax’s face in your hands, you lean in to connect your lips one more time, lips moving in sync before breaking the kiss with a smile.
“thank you, you just made learning about fish a whole lot more interesting.” you giggle as realization flashes over ajax’s face when he notices the abandoned study materials on the desk. he chuckles and shakes his head, “not like you were doing much before i guess.”
“that’s true,” you smooth your hands over your clothes when an idea pops in your head, “but, we still have time until my test… maybe we can get together again wednesday night?”
ajax looks over your cute, hopeful face, “wednesday.. like valentines?”
you shrug nonchalantly, trying to suppress the butterflies in your stomach, like i said, just another day.”

NEW WORLDBUILDING PROJECT BABYYY!!!
Concept: World covered entirely in microbial mat and whose macrofauna are pentapods. One of which is a sophont.
1. The world itself is a little smaller than Earth, but is also the third planet from it’s star and has two moons. It has a pretty even climate with no icecaps due to it’s very thick hothouse atmosphere, even despite it’s p crazy axial tilt. It’s atmosphere is similar to Earths but contains a lot more water vapor and methane and less nitrogen. The surface of the planet is covered almost entirely in microbial mat, to the point where actual ground is buried miles deep and the world would be entirely covered in ocean if not for the mats. The only ‘land’ comes from mounds of organic material built up from the sea floor that have grown large enough to finally breach the surface.  Names Planet: Backera  Bigger Moon: Milcer Smaller Moon: Daunverr Sun: Sentil
As for the macrobiology I’m still working it out but right now there are two basic groupings of terrestrial pentapods. Subject to very likely change.
First are the Eyebacks. Who are most known for uh, having eyes on their back. They also have their gills open on their neck and need to submerge time and again in water to breathe correctly.
2. That group includes this lil beastie, the Foxtrot, who lives up to their namesake being a crafty lil ankle biter. They are a fast lil critter who prowls the coast for small fast moving prey. They are also quite capable swimmers and swap between land and sea whenever they need to grab a snack or avoid becoming one.
3. Another Eyeback is the aquatic Mynar, who uses their big ass nose horn to scrape away at the mats and stir up fresh food. Generally they stay in water only a few feet deep, moving on to find the freshest growth. Their life style leaves them with a coating of their own though, stained by the food they stir up.
Second group are the now tripodial Elytra’s, who have badass lil beetle backs, and have lifted their front two limbs up to use for object manipulation. They are terrestrial but still rely on water for their tadpole larval stage.
4. This is called a Thwap, because they are very aggressive and use those first set of limbs for smacking anything that makes them even slightly uncomfortable. These are predators that focus on terrorizing smaller prey, loosely associating in groups of 3-10 individuals.
5. The SOPHONT!! I have no idea what to name these guys, so ideas are welcome! I just knew I wanted to give ‘em big ole eyes. They are a omnivorous people descended from hypercarnivorous ancestors. Their culture is centered around large families, usually a ‘wife’ and their many ‘husbands’, but the main thing to set them apart from the rest is the amount of care put into raising their offspring. They will have large pools dedicated to their lil babies until they’re ready to be walking around. Not super advanced technologically since y’know, iron and other metals is somewhat inaccessible. But maybe that’ll change, still thinking of how I want to set up the planet.
More to come, I want to develop the biology of the mats a lot more. I got hella good ideas for some biomes I want.

D&D Idea: a family of dragons that are herbivores. They have specialized into a few biomes and food types, but I think the best way to classify these dragons (to avoid overlap with existing ones) is with the animals they mimic in their ecological niche.
For example, the Giraffe Dragon lives in small herds and eats tender leaves and shoots from tall trees. It has a three-part jaw to scoop and bite around sharp thorns, and uses its long neck to conduct a powerful electric breath weapon.
The Mammoth Dragon has no trunk, but sharp tusk-like blades of bone sweep out from its lower jaw, allowing the beast to scythe down vast quantities of grass - and protect itself from predators. If some dire bear or pack of elven rangers wants to take the risk, they still must contend with the mammoth dragon’s lava breath.
Though these first two have vestigial wings used in body language, the Moose Dragon is capable of true flight. It can be awe-inspiring to see the creature gallop through shallow waters, building up speed before it leaps into the sky. Moose dragons eat a lot of aquatic vegetation, and can hold their breaths for a long time. Perhaps their subsonic roar is even more deadly underwater, but no researcher is brave enough to test this.
What herbivore dragon would you put in your world?

I've been dreaming of the Undersea Advisor.
In life, there are many variables to account for. Ah, but variables can be manipulated.
He remakes the world in his image.
How does a moment last forever? How can a story never die?
Tumblr media
There are several little glass containers, lined up in a neat row, on his work bench. He is the master, and this is his craft: pocket dimensions, each with a different biome bottled.
Here is a lush garden with enchanted roses and caterpillars that blow smoke, and a savanna where miniature beasts race about. A desert with its own oasis--a massive scarab running amok, a regal castle he had painstakingly constructed with a pair of tweezers for a peacock no bigger than his thumb... He had even somehow managed to create a sleek building blinking blue lights and a crumbling chateau overrun with moss and bite-size bats.
His current project is a bowl of salt water, a layer of sand decorated with seaweed and coral at the bottom. He had taken the liberty of tucking fake jewels, a plastic treasure box, and a model of a sunken ship in.
For flair, he chuckles to himself. All that's left is to find proper aquatic specimens to house in it.
From the doorway, Jade adjusts the straps on his backpack, making sure that they're secure, that his supplies are in order. His boots laced, his jacket buttoned, he marches out the door and into the wilderness.
The forest is quiet and without trees but is not devoid of life.
Instead of trunks, there are stems--plump, pillowy, in various shades of white and cream. They are wider at the base and narrower at the head, which gives way to fluted undersides. Gills, Jade knows, a very different kind than those of a merman.
The air is clean and refreshing, lightly washed with spores. Not visible to the naked eye, but at the right refractions of sunlight, Jade can see them dancing into shapes upon the wind.
Circular shadows are cast across the ground, belonging to the caps that tower far above him. Mushrooms--macro-sized--have taken over the feet of the mountain, making it a suitable hideout for his hobbies. Sunlight spills through the cracks between the clustered caps, forming golden pools along the forest floor.
Jade makes a game of hopping upon them, one by one.
It isn't long before he comes upon the stream that cuts through the heart of the wood. A thin and humble little thing, able to be crossed in a single stride of his long legs.
Jade drops his backpack and drops to one knee. He inspects the fresh water up close with a careful eye. It's clear and still at the edges, white and foamy in the center, where it flows the fastest.
His heart leaps when he sees it--a streak of silver darting by.
He kicks off his footwear and rolls his pants up, silently stepping into the stream. Jade is cautious about not splashing, to avoid making noises or movements as that would disturb the wildlife.
He stands there, watching. Waiting, waiting, for that next fish to pass.
He thinks he sees it, a glimmer laid deep in the water. He reaches for it, fingers grazing wetness, but does not complete the grab.
“You like that, don’t you? The feeling of being in control, a life dancing in your palm,” a musical voice rings out. “It grants you security, assuredness.”
His eyes flicker down. His reflection shifts in the churning water, but he can see its mouth moving when his doesn’t.
An obstacle—amusing.
Jade purses his lips into a patient smile. “Oya, does a pixie presume to know those who visit their forest?”
“I am no pixie. In this pool of tears, all is laid bare,” his reflection says, “and given truth.”
“You claim to speak the truth. If that is the case, then you take no issue with divulging sensitive state secrets?” Jade’s smile grows, turning sharp. “To demonstrate your veracity, of course. I do not intend to misuse the information.”
“I know that you lie as easily as you breathe,” the pool replies, “for I have knowledge of only the souls that gaze into me.”
“A shame. I was quite curious about your awe-inspiring powers. Alas, there are limits put on greatness. It appears as though a puddle can never match the ocean in size nor in bounty.”
His reflection is not irked by his needling. “If you wish to take, then you must offer up a piece of yourself of equal value.”
“You have said that I lie as easily as I breathe. Is the word of a liar worth its salt?”
“You must speak truthfully.”
“But if I am a liar, and you have assumed my appearance, does that not, by proxy, make you a liar as well? That means what was uttered earlier is a lie, and I must tell an untruth—which I have already provided.”
The reflection pauses, considering the logic. Slow horror dawns on its expression—stolen from him—and it glowers.
"Liar," the reflection bitterly spits. It vanishes into the frothing waters.
There's a sigh, then the shudder of a release that fills the forest of mushrooms. Something, somewhere, has shattered.
Silver fills the clear stream, coloring it one shiny, metallic shade. Fins and scales bat against his skin. Healthy, plentiful.
Jade plunges an arm elbow-deep, and--
He gasps.
Something latches onto his arm and violently tugs. He's brought face-to-face with his own shocked expression, droplets hissing at him.
The stream, Jade realizes, should not be this deep.
He resists, trying to throw his body weight back, but the force holds tight. The slimy grip tightening like a fist.
He does not to fully relish in the surprise, so rare a feeling for him, before there is another strong pull. Jade falls forward, eyes wide as the water hits him in full.
Slowly, slowly... he finds himself sinking into an abyss.
It's the sea, deep and dark, shrouded by black mist. A ship-shaped shadow looms, at the inky depths--and through holes punched in the hull, undiscovered treasures wink up at him. Chests of forgotten gold and gems, like stars blinking in and out of view.
He dangles, suspended, like a puppet left upon the stage that has closed for the night. The scene, the stands, empty, save for the vague shapes of coral and twisting tendrils of seaweed.
Something shifts among the plants, and Jade tenses, preparing for a fight.
A long shape darts by, and his gaze tracks. The markings on it glow teal, peering through the murk--he recognizes it at once, relaxing.
"Floyd."
The name bubbles up and breaks upon the surface of the stream.
His twin circles him, his weaving tail sending Jade's jacket billowing. One is in the body of a human and the other, in their true form.
Floyd wordlessly grins, showing teeth like knives.
Behind him, the shadows swirl--a mess of writhing, squishy limbs and agonized moans. Tentacles, tentacles, painting a canvas with darkness.
A voice calls from somewhere in the void.
Floaty, far away.
"... de....... ade..."
"Jade!!"
He snaps awake, drawing in a deep gulp of air. As if he had just arisen from a dive.
Jade is seated at his workbench, blanked on either side. "Floyd, Azul..."
"We came as you had instructed, but it appears that now is not a good time," his dorm leader remarks. "You were sleeping like a log when we arrived."
"So I smashed a window with a rock and we let ourselves in!" Floyd declares proudly. Azul casts him a wary look.
"Just so you are aware, I am not to be held accountable for any damages incurred," he says hastily. "It was entirely Floyd's idea--I warned him against it and had him sign a liability form to assume any and all fees, should he ignore my advice and proceed with his ill-advised plot."
"Pfft." Jade chuckles. "My apologies. I must have become so enraptured in my project that I neglected to maintain a proper sleep schedule. The fault is mine, so I will not press charges."
Azul sighs, relieved. "Now, back to the matter at hand. For what reason have you summoned us here today?"
"Ah, that." Jade holds up his fishbowl, beaming. "I wished to share this with you both."
"Mmm, what is it?" Floyd asks, peering into the container. His face comes out the other end of it stretched wide and distorted, like the result of a funhouse mirror. "Looks like just some water to me."
"Another terrarium, I suspect." Azul pushes up his glasses as he surveys the other containers on the work bench "I see, so you've made one each in the image of the dormitories at Night Raven College. This one must be Octavinelle."
He suddenly frowns.
"Wait a minute, what is this?!" Azul thrusts a finger at a round little octopus suctioned to the inside of the bowl. The area around it is clouded with wisps of black.
"Hehehe, looks like Jade was right on the money with this one. That's so you, Azul."
"I-It is NOT!!"
"Really?" Jade's brows lift. "As I recall, you were exactly like this, tears and all, when..."
"AAAAAAAAH, stop, stooooop!! D-Don't say it, I can't bear that!!"
Jade laughs--soft and musical--granting his wailing dorm leader that single mercy. His chest is warm and full, a feeling his lies don't come close to.
I believe I’ve found myself company that is much more entertaining than any world right at my fingertips.
It’s his truth, the only one he has told this entire time.

Merfolk are obviously mammalian - the presence of breasts on mermaids and the horizontal tail fin are dead giveaways - but classifying them more precisely than that gets interesting.
They're fully aquatic, which rules out the various lineages of semi-aquatic mammals
Their high intelligence and complex social behavior (mermaids are clearly sapient) is similar to cetaceans
Their forelimbs still have distinct fingers rather than being fins - most similar to the flippers possessed by pinnipeds
So does them retaining some amount to body hair
Unlike pinnipeds, they do not possess external hindlimbs, and their tail flukes resemble those of cetaceans and sirenians
Their human-like faces display none of the characteristic skull adaptations associated with sirenians
None of those three groups have particularly long external arms
This points to merfolk being their own lineage of fully aquatic mammals. The flat face with forward-facing eyes, as well as the grasping hands with opposable thumbs and the fact that they did retain external forelimbs seems to point to them being primates, and we can go one step further and say that their facial structure is characteristic of simians - basically, merfolk are probably not lemurs. Them having tails also certainly rules out apes. New World monkeys have longer tails that evolved to be prehensile on multiple separate occasions, while Old World monkeys have shorter tails and never evolved to be prehensile, and I'm going off of intuition here but it seems to me that the tails of merfolk are more similar to the former than to the latter.
So, if I'm right, that would classify mermaids as a lineage of New World monkeys. Merfolk occupy a variety of ocean biomes but are very often seen in coral reefs, which also explains them retaining their arms and hands - I can see how those would be useful adaptations in a coral reef environment - so I would say they probably evolved in coral reefs. Most coral reefs in the Americas are located in the Caribbean, so that's the most likely place for proto-merfolk to have evolved
From there, merfolk could probably have spread down the South American coast, which still has some coral reefs, at which point some populations could have made their way up the Amazon River, while a smaller group could have crossed the Atlantic to West Africa and the coral reefs there. From there, merfolk could have spread around Africa's coasts (as well as up West Africa's various rivers), reached the Indian Ocean where they'd probably have been very successful, and then finally made it to Indonesia and then Polynesia where the abundance of coral reefs would have been great for merfolk.
This would probably mean that the Caribbean, and to a lesser degree coastal South America and the Amazon rainforest, would have the greatest genetic variety of merfolk, while Indonesia and Polynesia would have the most weird physical traits on merfolk

Isylhejif - A Deep-Sea Gentle Giant
An easy-going, gentle and easily excitable beast who roams the deeper zones of the Edge's oceanic biomes, the Isylhejif's flowing fins and vibrant pink glows are a sight to behold - to anyone who dares to swim so deep.
Tumblr media
Appearance
The Isylhejif is one of the larger oceanic creatures, considered a leviathan by some, scaling in at over 216 meters (706 ft) in length from snout to tail tip. It has two sets of fins, and lures stemming from the ends of each and underneath its jaw.
The Isylhejif often presents its colors as deep shades of blue, the color varying slightly depending on the season. The membranes are primarily a shade of deeper turquoise, and these also rarely vary. It's bioluminescent markings do change color with the seasons - the depiction above is during the Glowcrest season.
It has lures, similar to many aquatic and semi-aquatic creatures of the Edge. The beings tail ebbs off into a large, flowy fin, which runs up the length of its neck. It has a bell atop it's head, which is a jelly-filled cap that produces poison and secretes it onto the Isylhejif's skin.
Behavior
The Isylhejif lives in a part of the Edge's oceans where the bioluminescent light of lunar fern kelp can barely stretch through the dark, and seeing is no longer a reliable way to hunt or navigate the rockier sea-soil clumps. So, Isylhejif rely on musatehkit echolocation and sound cues traveling through the water to find their way around.
While they are larger hunters, Isylhejif are often found in large pods, and are sometimes accompanied by smaller fish and creatures. They enjoy play and games of hide-and-seek, with the younger, more adventurous members of the Isylhejif pods hiding a bit further out into open ocean to challenge each other. They also engage in games of pretend, to help develop skills for hunting later in life.
Musatehkit
Isylhejif produce passive musatehkit (also known as worldsong) displays, and they commonly display Draping Choirs. Draping Choirs are the long notes of the world's symphony, echoing low and resonating with those who hear them for cycles after.
Tumblr media
These passive displays often resemble long, thick ribbons of color, flowing in wave-like rhythms across the dark skies or through water. As Isylhejif are passive displayers, when the entire pod is focused and in-tune with the worldsong, beautiful shows of flowing color will trail through the waters behind them. The resonant frequencies of the Isylhejif's notes can typically be felt ringing through one's ribcage if you're close enough to a pod.

TITANS
Tumblr media
DESCRIPTION
Titans are magical beings that are responsible for modern life on the planet.
There are 3 types of titans.
Aerial - dragon-like titans with wings for gliding short distances and display. Their breath is molten metal.
Terrestrial - wolf-like titans with large muscle strength. They release a sonic boom from their jaws
Aquatic - mosasaur-like titans with front flippers and a powerful tail. They’ve developed a spine that mimics the appearance of coral to hide from predators and prey. They can inhale water at a speed fast enough to create massive whirlpools.
All titans share glyph magic, the ability to create life, and growth rate.
Of the three titan types, aerial and terrestrial titans share territory, while aquatic titans are more solitary and less abundant. Some titans have wings that are covered in vibrant patterns to display their importance, as these are often elders, royals, or generals. These wings cannot be used for flight and are more of a way to say ‘look at me, I’m important, respect me’.
The ‘skulls’ on their heads are not actually part of their skeleton - it is a piece of head armour that evolved from simple plates into a whole helmet
Titan societies are very open. There is a royal bloodline, but they are more laid back and less commanding. They value respect and bow before the earth. Titans follow a unique calendar and hold festivals for important events, including full moons, hatchings, marriage, and music. The most important tradition held by titans, however, comes when they reach an age of 1000.
HIBERNATION
Because titan ancestors gained magic through the earth, modern titans are forever grateful and believe that they owe their lives to nature. They spend their lives learning their own unique magic and teaching others, and then can choose to enter an eternal hibernation. This hibernation is where they rest for the rest of eternity, not dead, but not awake either. Over time, during this sleep, their bodies are reclaimed by the earth. Their hides turn to stone, trees grow on their backs, and life can flourish over their bodies. Depending on where they rest, they will form different biomes. Since the majority of the planet is ocean, most will form islands or coral reefs.
Tumblr media
The same will occur if titans are killed. Even newborns can become small reefs or sea stacks. A titan’s bones will continue to grow even after death which leads to absolutely massive archipelagos and eco systems. Some land masses formed by titans include:
- the Boiling Isles [terrestrial titan] formed when an adult titan was struck down by immense magical force
- Jotunheim [aerial titan] the result of a titan warrior being strangled and impaled. Location of Titan Trapper Island
- Purgatory [aquatic titan] formed when an adult titan became trapped in shallow water after being injured in battle
- Archipeligo of Insanity [aerial titan] formed from the bones of a titan killed by a swarm of grimraptors, which are usually only pests
- Isle of Humiliation [terrestrial titan] the result of a young titan becoming impaled on sharp sea stacks. This is a more recent development and the individual was likely one of the few young survivors of the Titan/Archivist conflict.
GROWTH
Titans are able to create life from non-living things, most notably their own eggs. A titan will infuse their magic with a boulder which over time will form into an egg and embryo. Another examples would be the statues in Echoes of the Past.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What makes titan eggs special is that they can hold off on hatching for hundreds of thousands of years, waiting for the perfect conditions. The hatchlings are as helpless as a newborn human and need constant supervision to not get hurt. They mature rather fast, with their growth slowing down around their teenage and adult years.
Titans are considered ‘pups’ until they reach adulthood. They are born with two straight horns that will expand and bend as they get older. For royal titans, the wings will come in during their years as a young adult.
POWERS
Instead of creating things out of thin air, titans warp the elements and world around them in the form of glyphs. Modern witch magic comes from this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Each variant of titans has their own unique power.
Terrestrial - sonic shouts that explodes outward from their jaws
Aerial - searing fire breath that can melt most materials
Aquatic - inhaling tons of water at a speed that it creates violent whirlpools
All titans have blood that has fused with magic over millions of years of evolution. This blood is so potent with magic that it creates rips in reality if mixed with water.
Titans create life with their own bodies. Upon death, not only will they form land, but new, magical life will emerge from their blood.
CULTURE
Titans value art, specifically murals and sculpture. All throughout titan dens and palaces are marble carvings displaying the many life forms they share the planet with. Murals fill their hatcheries and rooms, and they have several festivals throughout the year to celebrate their creativity.

I got a ton of this little airtight jars and have put together a couple dozen tiny habitats; the "land" ones include springtails while the aquatic ones are mostly just plants, which also still have a while to grow. The terrestrial mosses will also need some time to really attach to the black foam floors of their jars.
But, then they'd be fit to ship. How much would people buy these for? I seeded a lot of them with the same misses and algae I've grown for a year in this one:

That's no guarantee they'll all grow the same way but as long as they're kept in the right lighting they should fill in and keep looking cooler??
Since I always run into these questions though: yes, aquatic and humidity-loving plants have no difficulty at all in an airtight container, there's no special trick! And animals as tiny as springtails get more than enough oxygen from the plants. It's larger animals and particularly vertebrates that just can't balance their high oxygen demands in too small of a sealed biome.

Yknow how the forest territory is Believably England and then the lake is... Vaguely American? Are there any major changes to the lake from you pushing it back to being Believably England?
This is major nerdish territory but yes actually, in fact I specifically look at Delamere's programs and plan to model the visitor center (in RiverClan territory) off their new 2020 expansion. I think part of why the Lake feels "vaguely American" in canon is like... it's so hard to describe, but it's written like... a summer camp lake. Not a British nature reserve.
Meanwhile, the Forest Territories were based on NEW FOREST, which is a real place in Hampshire that Victoria Holmes used to visit. Because of that, the wetland, moorland, forest, and river are all grounded in reality. Of course it's believable-- Vicky was writing from experience!
Meanwhile, the Lake wasn't even supposed to "become the new map," she thought TNP would be the end of the series. The first sign that it the ecology was gonna get crazy, though, was the Tribe's mountain. girlie... it's southeastern England. what mountain? God tried to hit London with a frying pan and ended flattening the entire area, did Smokepaw fall to his death off a HILL?
But anyway, new BB Lake Territory biome models be upon ye;
ShadowClan's bog is based off Black Lake in Delamere, mixed with a bit of indulgence in specifically letting them destroy a sitka plantation lmao. There's more diversity in the other models though, which is why I don't say the whole thing is JUST Delamere.
The river and lake ecosystem look a lot more like the Dyfrdwy (re: the only protected water zone in the entire UK under the 1991 Water Resources Act) and Llyn Tegid (because it's big, well researched, and clean). The moorland is lowland heather, as seen in Thurstaton Common and Bickerton Hill, though I sometimes have to take research from further south or east because of how devastated those biomes have gotten in this region.
(the aquatic and moorland ecosystems have gotten so. so fucked in the past 200 years.)
(also side note if you want a chuckle, please read this article from the Wildlife Trust on "how to find heather" which has an entire section on what to do if you cannot access moorland, where it suggests other ways you can experience purple. Obsessed with the phrasing of this. Like it's a natural instinct. If you can't find heather go somewhere wet and look at a crocus.)
Other random things about Sanctuary Lake now;
It follows Llyn Tegid's watersports permits system. Power boats are banned and humans are only allowed to swim at the shore.
There's gonna be ruins in WindClan now. Was very surprised to find out that, no, that's not a movie thing, there's just ruins. Cool!
I keep waffling on what sort of ruin it is tho. I'm leaning towards a castle ruin, but Chester uncovered a roman coliseum so THAT would be really cool. It would be neat if they found a lion skull. Maybe some kind of Roman fort.

If marine reptiles such as Shonisaurus or Morturneria were added to the game, I guess it would likely mean an overhaul for the water of the game and likely mean that some larger dinosaurs would pull glass tanks on wheels with Marine Reptiles inside.
Or an alternative would be that it would be a DLC where a beach can be accessed and the player could ride a Nothosaurus to go underwater. If an aquatic ranch was a thing, it would likely be a house on stilts with bridges to walk across around the pens. And to befriend marine reptiles the player would likely use visual cues instead of the flute because I’m pretty sure flutes don’t work well underwater.
That's such a good suggestion for befriending marine reptiles! I've forwarded this suggestion to the team to consider if we ever are able to add more dinos and biomes!

Character for my thirst sword lesbians campaign. She’s made of worms 💙
Harmony as an entity existed for millennia on its home planet, originally an aquatic worm like species, it absorbed and took on attributes of the species it consumed. Eventually it grew to encompass the planet it inhabited, a perfect self-sustaining superorganism. Perfect Harmony.
Some many years ago, a small spacecraft landed on the planet, crewed by no more than a half dozen members, in search of local flora and fauna to sell on astral black markets. The crew was consumed almost immediately, assimilated into the slimy embrace of Harmony, and with them a spark of intelligence began to grow. Their bodies were piloted back to their homeworld, the ships cargo hold full of black ichor.
Present day
Harmony has amassed power through sheer numbers to the status of a royal house, the House of Harmony. A house of one mind, a board of directors always in agreement. A thousand voices chorused in perfect humming unison.
Harmony’s current host chosen to act as galactic emissary and diplomat to the great houses is the body of Nymphia. A member of an aquatic insectoid race, chosen for her otherworldly beauty and her species ability to unhinge their lower jaw to extend and catch prey. Similar to a dragonfly nymph native to the freshwater biomes of earth.
