"Poor Old Sod"
Pencil sketch, Infinite Painter for neon version.
A sketch inspired by the cover of Jethro Tull's Aqualung. A dirty, dissheveled old man creeping through an alley. I decided to make it actually aquatic (rather than just his breathing sounding like an Aqualung).

Though the night has fallen
I close my eyes and imagine
A tiny glimmer flickering on the horizon
It takes time to get it right
Takes no time to get it wrong
I can't believe I didn't see
The ground was caving in
Oh, can we just start again

Tull Tuesday #15
The album Aqualung was released in March of 1971 and had the central theme of “the distinction between religion & God.” The success of the record was the turning point on the road to rock ‘n roll longevity. The album has sold over 7,000,000 copies over the years and is Tull’s best-selling record.
The album ends with what is my favorite song from the album. “Wind-Up”, which has Anderson lamenting…

Cheers, Noise.

No way to slow down
Jethro Tull - Aqualung (Chrysalis UK/Reprise US, 1971) - Design and illustrations by Burton Silverman
Not exactly a fan of Jethro Tull (I do like "Mother Goose" and "Bungle in the Jungle", at least), but I admire Ian Anderson's good taste in art.
Anderson and Silverman hold differing accounts on how these paintings were made. Anderson said he posed as the homeless man here, while Silverman maintains he modeled the man after himself. Who's telling the truth? We may never know.
Here's the gatefold just for the heck of it.
Sadly, the original artwork for the front and back covers are missing, presumably stolen during a robbery (the gatefold painting is in then-manager Terry Ellis' possession).
