Apothievnoflux

An apothievnoflux individual fluctuates between repulsed, neutral, favorable and anywhere inbetween about a certain concept.

Inspired off of apothiflux, and most likely falls under apothiflux most of the time, but indicates a wider range from repulsion to favorable.

Examples:

Someone on the asexual spectrum who fluctuates between sex repulsed, sex favorable, and anywhere in between.

Someone who feels repulsed at being gendered one day but may get euphoria from being gendered another day.

Apothi- comes from the Greek word apothisan, meaning repulsed.

-Evno- comes from the Greek word evnoïkós, meaning favorable.

-flux is short for fluctuate.

This term is left intentionally vague, if it feels like it fits you at all, then you are free to use it! It'd most likely get paired with a label that feels like it needs clarifying in some way (like an asexual may want to clarify whether they're sex repulsed or favorable) but not necessarily.

Apothievnogenderflux - flag made by combining the nonbinary and apothievnoflux flags

An apothievnogenderflux individual is someone who is genderflux or otherwise nonbinary/agender/genderfluid/ect. and fluctuates between feeling repulsed/dysphoric, neutral, favorable/euphoric and anywhere in between at the concept of being gendered. It may or may not correlate to how much gender they have/how strongly they feel their gender at that moment.

I made this for my own aroaceflux microlabel loving self. I believe it's because of that autistic urge for exact language but I usually don’t feel comfortable using a label until I have a very specific and accurate label under it. Like I didn’t feel comfortable calling myself asexual until I found aceflux. Idk brain quirky.

Idea: You could also use Evnoflux which I'd guess would indicate fluctuating but leaning towards favoring? Idk just a thought, feel free to take this and run with it

hey! is there a sexuality (in the asexual to sexual spectrum) that's having periods of feeling your sexuality and periods being completely repulsed by anything and everything sexual? does this experience belong on the a-spec or is it regular allosexual? can it be aceflux or graysexual? I feel like I'm not fully asexual all of the time and don't want to take up space that's not mine -anonymous

I'm not sure if there's one term that encompasses this or if it would take a variety.

Aceflux is certainly one such useful term. Graysexual is another.

You might also look at abrosexual, acespike, ARCflux, and apothisexual/apothiflux.

As for whether your experience is an ace one or an allo one - that's something only you can determine. Do you relate more to your offline peers' experiences (as they are likely majority allosexual) or to asexual experiences? Does allosexual or ace feel more right to you? What do you want to consider yourself? Remember, asexual doesn't mean "never ever ever experiences any sexual feelings ever". It loosely means "low or no sexual attraction" and including folk with a general disinterest in or repulsion to sex/sexual relationships if it's useful to them.

Treat yourself like you would treat a friend. Would you tell a demisexual, who can also feel sexual attraction, that they're not asexual, even though they themselves identify as asexual? If you're here, I believe you wouldn't identity police others - and you shouldn't police yourself either. The only rule to identifying any which way is that you should identify based on how you want based on the criteria important to you. If asexual is a useful term for you, then use it! You don't have anything to prove to any of us.

Apothiflexible Pride Flag

Apothiflexibility: identifying predominantly as apothi- but flexible in its identity.

Similar to apothiflux, but this label indicates one is mostly/generally apothi- with occasional exceptions (for example, being apothisexual most of the time but rarely sex-indifferent (apa-) or sex-favorable (icula-)).

is there such a thing as like, apothiflux?? where your positivity/repulsion varies rather than your attraction? do you have to be aro or arospec to experience romance repulsion? can you experience romantic attraction and still be romance repulsed sometimes? fml i'm so confused

Recently I've been having a sort of struggle with sex repulsion; I'll be fine most of the time discussing/seeing sex, but every once in a while I'll have a sudden intense wave of repulsion where I can't even stand hearing the word "sex" because I feel sick, much less seeing/talking about sexual things. This usually will continue for an hour or so, but then I'll be fine with all of it again. Is there a name for this? Is it some sort of common phenomenon? Thank you in advance for your time.

i have actually heard of this being a thing for someone else. at the time, we figured out the word apothiflux; combing the terms apothisexual (sex repulsed asexual) and aceflux (fluctuating feelings of non-attraction), to mean an asexual who experiences fluctuating sex repulsion. as far as i know, that’s the only word that’s been made, but you might check with arcresources
