Pairing - yuuki anzai x gn reader

Summary - you went and did what you always do and anzai isn't exactly pleased, but why?

Warnings - mentions of gun violence, panic attacks, use of naughty words, but really it's just tooth rotting fluff

Anzai was beyond pissed. How many times had he told you he is a police trained vampire with physical abilities humans could only imagine possessing, and you are a human civil who's fighting qualifications end at "yellow belt in 3rd grade." How dare you get involved in a mission as dangerous as the one they just finished? A group of teenage vampires were hanging out in a park when 3 grown adults decided to go on a shooting spree. So anzai and Lee had to stop 5 teenagers with no experience in taming their vampire instincts who had lost control and crazy bigots with guns from killing each other. So of course you'd decide it was a great idea to throw yourself in front of him when one of the teenagers started running at him. If Lee hadn't yanked you out of the way you would've been absolutely demolished by a kid with unfinished algebra 2 homework, and that would've just been embarrassing.

However, Lee was the one who said you could come along so it was kind of his fault in the first place. Kind of? Completely. Anzai knew that dipshit only let you come so he could show you he was better at protecting you than anzai. God Lee better watch out cause the second anzai sees him his hands are going to wring the shit out of his... Oh Lord he was getting irrational. He couldn't blame Lee, because it was his fault. He was the one who completely lost control whenever you were at risk, and he was normally the reason for you being in that position in the first place. He was just so angry at himself, if only he could just accept that he wasn't a cop anymore and he wasn't personally responsible for every vampire. But he couldn't and because of that you'll never be safe. He was so scared of everything he'll never be fully in control of himself, and because of this he'll never be able to actually protect you.

And then you did what you always do, save him. Right then you walked into your shared apartment on him having a panic attack and burst into action. In a blink of an eye his head was in your hands and you were instructing him to sit up straight. "Hey could you put your arms over your head for me please. Now could you take a deep breath through your nose and out your mouth with me? There you go baby, now can u remind me what your favorite color is?" "you know it's the color of your eyes goofy." You laugh at that. This deep, heartfelt, throw your head back and squeeze your eyes shut kind of laugh that did things to his heart that would hurt his masculinity a little bit if he described it. You were just so... dazzling. The kind of beautiful where everyone knows the gorgeousness on the outside is just the pure beauty on the inside seeping through. He was just so in love with you. And he had realized a while ago he had the tendency to do dumb things out of love.

"Stop it! Just stop it! What part of this relationship led you to believe that you were the one who needed to do the saving. I've been the only one looking out for me for as long as i can remember, i don't need to become dependent on someone now. Especially on someone who i want to be depending on me. I can take care of you angel, in my world you come first. You always putting me before you instead is actually driving me insane!" Anzai almost shrieks in this stressed and anxious rant that has him pacing and your heart hurting. "Anzai... I just... Want to protect you" you struggle to get out, on the verge of tears and pleading him to make eye contact with you. So he does, and his heart shatters. He's over to you, your head against his chest, swallowed up by his arms in literally a blink of an eye.

For a minute or two you guys just stand there. In each other's embrace, both crying (you a little bit louder than him), and inhaling each other's comforting scent. After a moment or two he looks you in your eyes and says "you know you're driving me crazy right?" So of course you quickly reply "did you expect something else?" He chuckles this deep, gravelly thing that has you feeling a pleasant knot in your stomach and a blush creeping onto your cheeks. You continue though. "It's just that you're always saving me. Whenever I'm in trouble you're there almost immediately and it makes me feel so safe and protected. I want you to feel the same way. I want you to know I will always be there putting your safety first, especially when you think everyone couldn't care less about your well being. You mean the absolute world to me Yuuki Anzai and I want you to know it." At this the dam he's been building for year's breaks. He cries like he's never cried before. He squeezes you into his chest so hard you think you might hear a cracking noise coming from your ribs. His nose continues to nuzzle into your hair as he let's out a muffled "I love you so fucking much it's painful. If anything happened to you I don't know what I'd do, like you say, my shit would quite literally hit the fan." You laugh your ass off this, so of course he smiles. He smiles because the most beautiful, kind, loving, and selfless person in the world is in his arms, living with him, loving him so much you're putting your life at risk, and laughing at his dumb joke. Even if you drive him insane, he's oh so happy he has someone like you.
