Just a weird lil note to say that fics aren't metas.

Sometimes an author makes decisions based on what works best for character AND story.

I'm not saying that a character's actions should be OOC, but sometimes you have to Manufacture Situations in order to get the story you want. I dunno. It's like... sometimes you write a fic and do what vibes right. Sometimes I don't really feel like doing lit analysis for a fic. I don't need to "prove" that the character was one way ONCE in order to show that character behaving in such a way again. Hopefully I'm a strong enough writer that the context I make up explains the character's actions.

Also, you don't have to be married to an interpretation that you have in one fic. Like, you can switch it up. Fic is about exploring interpretations based on Situations. I could write a dozen "Sirius adopts Harry" fics with different ideas of how Sirius might parent. He's overprotective in one, or in another, he's self-conscious about his ability to be a parent. My Slytherin Sirius is sad and lonely because of the Situations I put him in--if I took away those Situations, he would be a very different Slytherin Sirius who is probably much happier. But that wasn't the point of the story so I didn't let him be happy :(

Anyway, I guess, don't feel like you're beholden to one interpretation you've made in one fic. Your unrelated fics aren't part of your [AO3 account] Cinematic Universe, and unless specified otherwise, your readers shouldn't assume what is true in one of your fics should be true in another.

i feel like an ex-mormon even talking about this but like, i kinda need to say it out loud;i started listening to her around 1989, and i liked her songs, i liked the general sense of innocent and confused teenhood that transpired from her songs, but only got really into her music with lover (didnt like reputation when it came out although years later it kinda grew on me). i was mind-blown by folklore and evermore, obsessed with her for the next couple years, and then midnights came out. i didn't NOT like it but lets just say i was disappointed, it was underwhelming and chaotic. anyway this was the period i started not giving a shit about her in general, what with the private jets (i just discovered she owns 2?????? why would you need a private jet is one question but why would you need TWO is a wholly different one) and how her persona felt so blatantly merchified more and more with each release. i felt kinda disturbed when it ended with joe, like i was scared for him, knowing her fanbase and imagining just how messy it has to be breaking up with the biggest pop star right now after you dated for six years. then, over the following year i started feeling more and more annoyed by her. her pathological need for public attention really showed when she started dating that idiotic handegg player, becoming a billionaire, times person of the year, her concert being shown in cinemas (cinemas!!! good lord please at least at the movies could you please spare me from hearing about her), and just how… shitty she was being in general. she didn't say a thing about the incoming elections (not that i care for biden but come on a word or two on the fact that trump is literally a criminal would have been the bare minimum from her) and most importantly she didn't say a word on the genocide. not even the bother to say the most generic ass take like "viOleNcE iS aLwAYs WroNg!!!!". to my knowledge, to this day she hasn't said a word about the whole situation. its like she lives in this dreamland made only of fairytales and PR stunts where everyone is her diligent servant and she always gets whatever she wants. also ttpd sucked two dicks and i can't believe there's people listening to it unironically after two songs i couldn't bear it anymore already. now i just feel kinda bad in general, recently my cousin gave me 1989 in vinyl for my birthday and i didn't know how to tell her "yeah i don't care for her that much anymore" so I just smiled and accepted it. the worst thing is it's literally the standard edition!!!! on a double LP!!!! each side is like three songs, half of it is just empty grooves. thank god i never gave her a cent personally, I only pirate cause I refuse to pay for spotify, but I still feel bad knowing I took the effort to download 300 songs of an artist and now I don't even know if ill wanna listen to any of them ever again.

my two cents on the oscar situation is that mclaren should have wait before putting this big commitment, mclaren is a weird car to drive and have the history of being undeveloped every start of the season and I feel this is the reason oscar look better last year, he got the chance to learnt when they were fighting for p18 and when it got their update and got better he had master the feeling on the car unlike this year where the car started as a clear number 3 and now is more obvious the he's having a harder time to adjust and is more obvious because his teammate is confortable and deliver right way, he's gonna improve but not at lando level, mclaren wanted to lock him down asap and it's gonna backfire they should have waited imo but is a good pair maybe the third or four but look at the drivers avaliable for next year they should have waited, I guess they were scare of him getting snatched but realistic what other team better thn mclaren would want him? ferrari won't, mercedes already have russell, rbr have checo and academy drivers on the go, they should have waited, there's albon and look now there's literally sainz, I'm just glad that this nonsense of him being better than lando is over

I know it’s a tricky car to drive but one year driving it should give him some comfort. I also feel like his one lap pace shows that he does know how to dial into the car, just maybe not the tyres? Or perhaps the one lap pace is deceptive.

I still think Oscar has tremendous potential. He’s got a level head, which is invaluable. And he does have pace. I don’t think they’ve made a mistake. If I’m remembering rightly the McLaren young drivers aren’t terribly promising, I don’t think they’ll have anyone ready to step up before the end of 2026 which is how long they have Oscar. And honestly even if Oscar never does what they thought he was going to, having him as a number two to Lando is not a bad thing.

I think if McLaren hadn’t locked him down RBR might have been looking at him last year. Checo was there by the skin of his teeth because they didn’t have a viable alternative, but I think by the time Oscar had won that sprint in Qatar, had he not have a contract with McLaren RBR would have made him some kind of offer. Because they know the McLaren is tough to drive, and they’re not scared of a young driver…or of cycling through a young driver if he doesn’t deliver. Obviously Ferrari and Merc had their own nonsense going on behind the scenes but no one knew where they were going to be by the end of 2025 either at that time. I think Zak made a smart decision. He saw a driving pairing that worked and he locked it in. And honestly it’s still working. I wanted Oscar to be challenging Lando but that was never ideal for McLaren.

I don’t think anyone could have predicted that Sainz would be available. Hindsight is 20/20. But I think with the info they had at the time that was a smart choice, and short of them being able to get Sainz back (which mind you I’m not sure they would anyway because he’s not going to want to be second to lando) Oscar is still their best option imo.

Idk he’s taking longer to cook than I thought but that doesn’t mean he never will.

Not a unbearable amount of spice but I do not want to kick up any dust more than I have #Anyways now that THAT poll is over I just wanna add my two cents and say that I think both *can* cook. It's a matter of poor generalization #WWX knows the core principals but doesn't see much point in the process of cooking especially if it's just for him. Faster meals are better #Eat the raw ingredients and go back to work kind of guy #LWJ can follow a recipe and has the patience to cook a nice meal but doesn't have that innate chef sense. Useless without recipe type cook #They simultaneously can and cannot cook. It's situation specific #That *just* my own thoughts though! There is evidence to suggest both can cook if they must and there's the funny avenue of saying #that the are Banned From All Kitchens Everywhere #Cooking is different from grilling though. This I must know #guaranteed comic at the end of this one. For real this time. Even if people get very salty

so my birthday is in a few days!!!!! 🙂 i actually wouldn’t even bother mentioning it lol but this year, instead of celebrating it over the weekend beforehand, as i usually do when it falls on a weekday, i decided to push it to next week in solidarity with the strike for palestine. i’m privileged enough to make that call, the 20000+ palestinians who have lost their lives since october 7 cannot. and if i’m doing that, i might as well share info as well lol

yesterday, the icj ruled in favour of south africa and declared israel’s actions are ‘plausibly’ genocidal acts against palestine. and that’s great!!!!!! only time will tell how israel will meet the demands the icj has placed on them, but an immediate ceasefire has not been issued for gaza, therefore we should still stay vigilant

donate eSIMs if you can, keep in line with the bds movement’s choice protests and keep the pressure up on your governments if they’re helping fund israel. this twitter thread has a few more options for supporting palestine so you can pick and choose what you can do. keep up the fight!!!!! from river to sea, palestine will be free!!!!! ✊🇵🇸

i think the thing really getting people w/ whb right now is i dont think the way its operating as a gacha is any less predatory than any other company considering the way gachas operate overall is to prey on its users' wallets and susceptibility to gambling (bc its just how we are as people we like nice things and the thrill of finally lucking out and winning big its no ones fault) but what feels so unique is the speed at which its become like. it feels as though it wants to survive off whales already and the game is only 3 months old. they dont have a big enough player base for this.

it was barely a month after release that the solomon seals were introduced and that's pay only. if you're not paying money you can't roll on these banners (unless they give out freebies which typically amount to what 4-5 pulls? and even then to get to pity would be expensive even if you are paying its just nasty) which i figured was w/e if the same units were going to be added to the regular pool later but with michael and raphael theres just no chance and if you're not willing to pay $46 (i think even whales would balk at this) theres no chance at you getting gabriel either. its just such an odd way to operate to me.

I feel like the whole trend of people deciding they want to have bpd for the “aesthetic” of it is damaging in more ways that people are talking about. Most of the discourse around it that I see are dxed people saying how you shouldn’t want bpd, then it’s a serious condition, that you should say you have it to be “trendy”, etc. But it also means those who suspect they have bpd who really relate to the criteria and/or are seeking a dx feel more guilty about identifying with bpd traits.

I think a lot of undxed (and even dxed people) feel like they’re faking their issues, but with the whole discourse around people needing to stop self dxing and pretending to have the disorder is also putting those who have a genuine reason to suspect they have bpd in a difficult position. They may want to speak to others with the disorder as part of their self discovery and research, but they may fear that speaking up about will result in backlash as they’re assumed to be one of the people who are actually faking it.

sure we can go and criticize joel for taking away ellie’s choice, the same as we do with the fireflies but I simply can’t be angry at him about doing it. him lying to her about it? yeah, absolutely I am mad about it but what I’m not mad about is him not letting her make the choice of giving her life away for something that probably wouldn’t even matter in the end.

ellie deserves her agency and deserves to make her choices but I can’t at some of you saying that she would’ve wanted to give herself away to make the cure and so joel should’ve left her to die. first of all the fireflies didn’t tell her shit and lied to her, and just 10 minutes earlier in the episode, she was talking about her and joel’s future life, so actually, she very much wanted to live. and second of all and I think this is the key to it all - she’s a traumatized 14 year old girl, who’s basically been told that the entire world depends on her. we know she’s changed after david and that every death she encountered or had to inflict left a mark on her. so this is a teenager who’s been carrying a whole load of responsibility that shouldn’t have been hers and so much ptsd and survivor’s guilt that it could power up a whole city. I honestly don’t care that maybe if marlene told her the truth she would’ve chosen to die to make the cure, not when at the time of getting to salt lake city she was in a truly terrible mental state, and she might’ve thought that dying for this cause would be fitting and appropriate for all of the death that she’s seen and feels guilty about. she’s just a kid, and she deserved to get the whole story, to understand the true intentions of the fireflies and how this was all a big experiment that would’ve resulted in nothing more than another unnecessary and tragic death, this time hers. and even then if she still somehow would’ve chosen to give her brain and life away? I would’ve still ended up on joel’s side in preventing her from becoming a martyr and a guinea pig for people who clearly had no idea what they were doing.

the thing about the trans joke in the barbie movie (when shes talking to the construction workers, not at the end cuz i dont rly consider that a trans joke) is that IF the rest of the film felt like it existed in a world where gay/trans people were more than a punchline/gotcha, it could have actually been funny
