Fic Library/Rec (Spencer x Reader)
Tumblr media
Yesterday, I was trying to find a certain fic, so I scrolled through my likes and reblogs. Now I f-ing understand why reblogging is important. Anyways, I thought I might as well compile them in now post. Now, I may have placed some fics under the wrong category as I haven't read some of these some quite some time. Furthermore, the categorization may not make sense to you but it does to me, so you have been warned.

Lighten Up!
fandom: criminal minds
characters: spencer (lee), emily (ler) (jj, rossi, and hotch in the background but not actively involved)
warnings: tickle fic, MAJOR SPOILERS for late s6/s7e1-2, cursing, very brief mentions of death and torture
a/n: hooo boy it has been a HOT minute since i've written anything here,, anyways ler!emily my beloved, wreck that funky little brain boy.
-~-
"Spence, please, just listen to me!"
"I've heard enough from you, Jennifer, just let me talk to her myself!"
Emily stifled a surprised laugh at the bickering between her two friends as they both entered the bullpen, a certain lanky doctor making a beeline right towards her desk. "Damn, he's pulling out the full first name and everything? What did you do now, Jaje?" Emily laughed, looking over to the younger woman, who was standing a few meters back.
"He's still... frustrated. I tried to explain it to him again but he refuses to listen. Says he wants to hear an explanation straight from you." Emily looked up at the boy in question, who was looking back at her with a serious expression on his face.
Emily let out a patient sigh, pulling out a chair at the desk next to her as an invitation for Spencer to sit. "You... you understand why we had to do this. I know you do. If Doyle would have found out I was still alive, he wouldn't have stopped until he saw my corpse for himself."
Spencer sat down with a sigh. "I know, but... how could you keep it from us?" He spoke softly, his tone genuinely sad. "We all... We-" Spencer stopped, choking on a sob.
Emily put a reassuring hand on his knee. "I know. I am so sorry that I had to put you all through that. I missed you all so much, I nearly would have preferred being dead than spend another day away from you guys." She gave Spencer a soft smile as he wiped his eyes with the sleeve of his sweater.
J.J. came up behind Emily, resting a hand comfortably on her shoulder. "Spence, every day that went by I wanted to tell you more and more. But putting Emily at risk... I just couldn't."
"I... I understand," Spencer sighed softly, brushing his curly hair out of his face. "I just don't know how to move past this. I wish things could go back to the way they were before..."
Emily frowned, giving Spencer's knee a comforting squeeze. Well... It was supposed to be comforting. But when the stoic Doctor Spencer Reid squeaked, well.... Emily had an idea.
"Hey, Spencer...?" Emily asked, looking to J.J. to see if she was thinking the same thing. J.J. nodded, a mischievous grin spreading across her face. "Can I give you a hug?" Emily stood up, extending her arms to the younger man.
"I..." Spencer hesitated for a moment before standing up. "Yes, I would like that actually," He wrapped his arms tightly around his friend's shoulders.
"I think I'll leave you two alone for now," J.J. said nonchalantly, leaving the bullpen. "Take your time," She grinned back at Emily, winking.
"Thanks, Jaje," Emily called back, now grinning as well. She wrapped her arms around Spencer in return as he squeezed her protectively. "Jeez, you're nearly crushing me, kid... You been working out?"
"God, I wish," He muttered under his breath, smiling despite himself. "I'm built like a chopstick."
Emily barked out a surprised laugh, looking up to see his face. "Don't be so hard on yourself! You gotta learn to lighten up, y'know?" She gave a soft poke to his side, chuckling as he yelped and jumped away.
"Woahwoahwoah, ha-hang on a second," Spencer protested, backing away and trying to wipe that stupid grin off his face. "Noho need to do anything drastic..."
"You sure? Been a while since I heard you laugh~" Emily held up her hands into faux claws, wiggling her fingers.
"I-I've never exactly been the laugh-out-loud type, Emily... Y-You know that...."
"Oh, is that so? Maybe it's time we change that, dontcha think, Spence?" Emily examined her hands, still curled into claws, before flashing Spencer another teasey grin.
"Sihince when do you call me 'Spence' now too?" A few anxious giggles slipped through in between his words as he continued backing away, face going pale as he felt his back hit the wall.
"You're changing the subject? You really think that'll work on a profiler?" Emily grinned, inching closer with every passing moment.
"Fihigured you might be a little out of practice... I've never seen a dead person profile before...." He flashed Emily a cheeky grin.
"Oh? Well let me show you how a corpse does it then!"
Just as Emily was about to pounce, they were interrupted by a familiar voice.
"Hey, guys, I was just wondering if you had seen Hotch-?" Rossi stopped dead in his tracks as he processed the scene he had walked in on. "Um.... Maybe I'll go ask Morgan..."
And with that he was gone.
Spencer let out a sigh of relief as Emily laughed, looking back to the target of her mischief. "Right. Where was I? Oh, I remember!"
She then pounced, easily wrestling the younger boy onto the ground with minimal effort and sitting on top of him. "How does a dead person profile? Well, your minimal attempt to escape once you realized what was about to happen, especially when I was briefly distracted by Rossi, proves that you aren't opposed to what's about to happen."
"Wh- Emily, I-"
"Shush, I'm not finished. You also changed the subject as soon as you realized my intentions, which is usually a sign of discomfort, but your body language told the opposite story. Smiling, giggling, standing with open posture, almost inviting me to continue."
Spencer opened his mouth to protest again, but was interrupted by his own small squeak as Emily pinched his side.
"Still not done. Then, after I called you out on changing the subject, you had the audacity to pull out that classic Doctor Spencer Reid sass that I've missed so much, and combined with that goofy little shit-eating grin of yours, I think we both know that was your way of saying 'try me'."
Spencer looked up at Emily, completely stunned. His cheeks flushed a deep shade of pink as she smirked down at him, clearly very pleased with her assessment. "Now that I've proven myself, not that I really had to..." She chuckled, walking two fingers up the flustered doctor's side. "Let's have some fun, hm?"
Spencer pressed both of his hands over his face, letting out a flustered groan that was quickly interrupted by his own frantic giggles as Emily began to pinch up and down both of his sides. "Ehehemilyhehehe-!"
"What was that thing you said before? 'Not exactly the laugh out loud type'?" Emily laughed along with Spencer, slipping her hands under his sweater to target his tummy.
"Shuhut UHUHUP- SHIHIHIT!" Spencer's frantic giggling transformed into loud belly laughs as Emily began kneading into his belly, almost like a cat.
"You're really not in any position to be telling me to shut up, y'know... not when you're laughing loud enough for the entire department to hear." Emily giggled as Spencer's face flushed a deeper shade of pink.
Suddenly, another unexpected interruption "Prentiss, would you care to explain what's going on?"
Emily looked up, shocked to see Hotch standing at the door. "Sir! I uh... Reid was feeling down... Just wanted to cheer him up, is all. Seems to be working, no?"
Hotch glanced down at the boy in question, giggling breathlessly under Emily's fingers. He suppressed a fond smile. "I suppose it does appear that way... All right. Do continue."
"Thank you, sir." Emily smiled, returning her attention to her giggly friend.
"Oh, and Prentiss?" Hotch called out again.
"Yes, sir?"
Hotch, no longer suppressing his smile, looked back to his fellow agents. "Try his ribs."
"Is that an order, sir?"
Hotch grinned, a hint of mischief gleaming in his eye.
"Whatever you say, sir," Emily laughed, pinching up and down Spencer's ribs as he writhed beneath her
"NO. Emily, do not- EMILY NOHOHO-"
Hotch huffed out a fond laugh and left, the sound of the youngest member of the BAU's laughter echoing through the halls.
"MEHEHERCY PLEHEHEASE-" Spencer cried out, tears forming in his eyes.
Emily immediately complied, not wanting to overdo it. Spencer was already far too familiar with the feeling of torture, and she certainly didn't want to subject him to that.
"Thahahat... Was mehehean...." Spencer laid breathlessly on the floor, residual giggles still spilling from his mouth.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm the worst, et cetera, et cetera. Don't think I didn't notice you never told me to stop, giggles~"
Groaning at the nickname, Spencer sat up. "Hey can I ask you something?"
"Sure, Spence, anything."
"Well, you said that you hadn't heard me laugh in a long time, which is true, but I can also say the same thing about you."
"That's not a question, Spencer."
"Right, well let me ask you this then: Are you ticklish?"
Emily couldn't remember a time when she ever ran so fast

A Blue Christmas
Tumblr media
Summary: Okay I know this is a Christmas fic after the holiday but hear me out... this was the fic I wrote to help myself with the big sad I had on Christmas Eve. And I had to wait awhile to finish it properly. So you get it a couple days after the holidays. Anyways this is a Penemily x Reader fic where Penelope and Emily fight to be home for Christmas so they can spend it with their girlfriend. Emily promised Reader that she would never spend another Christmas alone and she always makes sure to keep her promises.
Warnings: Sad holiday feels. Nothing to explicit though. Just lots of tears and sadness.
Word Count: 2932
Characters: Penelope Garcia, Emily Prentiss, Reader. Mentions: Derek Morgan, David Rossi, JJ, Spencer Reid, Aaron Hotchner
Relationship: Penelope Garcia x Emily Prentiss x Reader, Emily Prentiss x Reader
AO3
-----------------------------
Y/N woke with a start as Sergio jumped on her chest meowing loudly. She ran her hand over his back gently as he pushed his head to her forehead. Eventually, he sat down staring directly at Y/N beginning to purr. He was content now but Y/N could tell that he was still upset.
“I know you miss them Serg. I miss them too,” Y/N told him placing a kiss on his forehead, “Killers don’t stop for anything… not even Christmas.”
Y/N was referring to Sergio’s other two favorite women- her girlfriends. The BAU had caught a case over a week ago down in Texas. Y/N knew that it was a possibility that Emily wouldn’t have been able to spend Christmas back at home but she had held out hope that at least Penelope could spare some hours away from her bat cave. No such luck was in Y/N’s future however because the blonde had been asked to go with them. When Y/N had received the FaceTime that they would be leaving without being able to come home first Penelope had been crying. Emily had been more optimistic promising that they would be home to complete all of the Christmas Eve traditions Penny loved. Y/N had stayed silent for most of the call being caught between sad and hopeful.
Now it was Christmas Eve and Y/N was greeted by an empty apartment. She had briefly talked to Emily last night but the brunette had seemed to have lost all hope about being home in time. When Y/N had asked about where Penelope was and Em stated that she had been too upset and had gone to bed early. Y/N hung up quickly and had cried herself to sleep that night. She was a self-proclaimed Grinch due to numerous bad Christmases growing up but when she had met Penelope and Emily three years ago everything had changed. Penelope made sure that every Christmas was magical and special for her two favorite people. Even Emily seemed a little more cheerful around Christmas but just enough of a Grinch that she could always reign in the blonde’s crazy.
Y/N eventually got up to refill Sergio’s food bowl and look around the apartment. Every open space was filled with something Christmas-related. The fresh Christmas tree Emily insisted they find at a tree farm every year was covered with silver and blue ornaments. It looked like it could have been straight from a Hallmark movie and it was Emily’s pride and joy. Another smaller tree was tucked in Emily’s office that was covered with all of the ornaments Penelope had made over the years. This was the tree that had all the presents underneath and was secretly the favorite tree of the household but no one wanted to deny Emily her little piece of Hallmark Christmas. In Emily’s office was also the Christmas village that Y/N had painstakingly worked on for hours making a backstory for every single tiny villager that was placed among the fragile houses. She even made a tall mountain top where Sergio spent most of his time watching over his village.
Y/N let out a large sigh grabbing a red velvet muffin from the container then hid in the microwave hopping on the counter so she and Sergio could have breakfast together. She knew that there was still a bucket full of presents that she needed to wrap hidden in her closet but she couldn’t find the point in it when she knew all of the recipients were going to be stuck in Texas. Without realizing it tears had begun to fall down her face again. She shook her head wiping away the tears determined that she was not going to spend another day crying over something she had no control over. Instead, she placed the half-eaten muffin back in the container and wandered back to the bedroom. Without looking at her phone she crawled back under the covers burying herself underneath hoping sleep would come quickly.
—--------------------------------------------------------
Hotch entered the conference room of the precinct looking at his exhausted team. Penelope’s eyes were still red with the constant tears she tried to hide. Emily had a gentle hand placed on the blonde’s thigh as she gently stirred her coffee. JJ was scrolling through her phone presumably looking at pictures of Henry that Will had been sending her. Reid was lazily looking at the same page of his book since Hotch had left fifteen minutes ago. Derek was twirling a pencil in his fingers staring aimlessly down at a case file in front of him. Rossi was looking out the window watching the raindrops that slowly fell down the pane. A week was a long time to be stuck in the heat away from family. Especially with the holidays rapidly approaching. Even Hotch was desperate to be back at home with Jack.
Hotch cleared his throats grabbing everyone’s attention, “Everyone head back to the hotel and pack your bags. We leave in an hour.”
“Wait… we get to go home?” Penelope croaked.
“The detective assured me that they can question the unsub and get a confession out of him without our help. We wouldn’t want to miss out on our annual Christmas Eve bash at Rossi’s house.”
“My mansion,” Rossi joked making everyone laugh.
“Let’s go home guys,” Hotch smiled.
A cheer erupted from the room as the team worked on gathering all of their belongings and rushed to get back to the hotel. Once on the jet, Penelope dialed Y/N’s number to share the good news but was met immediately with her voicemail. She tried twice more with the same response before she finally roped Em into calling her.
Em left a short voicemail on Y/N’s phone before turning to Penny, “Maybe she is taking a nap with Sergio. You know how she loves to sleep in on her days off.”
The blonde nodded reaching for her girlfriend’s hand. She spent the entire flight home talking about all of the Christmas activities that she had to get caught up on before their party that evening. Usually, everyone would be over her Christmas cheer but they were just excited that it would actually be happening this year.
Three hours later Penelope and Emily were dropping their go-bags inside the laundry room and calling Y/N’s name. They were met by silence which made them both nervous. Penelope was the first to look in the bedroom to find their girlfriend. Once inside she was met with a heartbreaking scene. Y/N was curled under the covers Emily’s hoodie pulled tight around her clutching Penelope’s pillow covered in tear stains.
Penelope gently shook Y/N awake. Y/N rubbed her eyes looking intently up at the blonde, “Am I dreaming?”
“Nope, this is real baby,” Penelope smiled gently running her finger across Y/N’s cheek, “We are home.”
Y/N threw back the covers hurtling herself into Pen’s arms. She held her close as they both began to cry. They were interrupted by a small cough as Emily stood in the doorway, “As much as I hate to break this beautiful moment I was wondering if I could get some love as well.”
Y/N laughed quickly rushing over to Emily to take her in a large hug and give her cheek a quick kiss, “I can’t believe you are both here. I thought I was going to be alone on Christmas.”
The last sentence made Y/N tear up again as she remembered all of the holidays that she had spent alone as a child while her parents were away. Em merely ran her fingers through Y/N’s hair giving her a kiss on the forehead.
“I told you that you would never spend another Christmas alone. So far I have made good on my promise.”
Y/N giggled as Pen joined their hug, “That you have Emmy. I love you both so much.”
“We love you,” Emily and Penelope said in unison.
The calm only lasted for a moment before Penelope started to tell her plan for the rest of their afternoon. They had cookies to make, presents to wrap, and a party to get ready for. Emily excused herself to make them lunch while Y/N and Penelope started to make the cookie dough. The blonde was known for her Christmas cookies and the tins that she gave to the team every year. Each tin contained five to six different kinds of cookies the sugar cookies being the star piece with their intricate decorations.
By the time lunch was done the first couple of trays of cookies were in the oven and Penelope could relax for a couple of moments. Y/N asked questions about the case filling in the other woman about the craziness that had occurred at her job. When the oven timer called Penelope’s attention Y/N cleaned up lunch as Em went to grab the presents they needed to wrap. The team had set a twenty-dollar limit per person and then had a five-dollar white elephant gift that they did as a group. Emily had chosen a different wrapping paper for every person on the team and had cute snowmen paper for the kids’ gifts. Whatever scraps were leftover she wrapped the white elephant gifts in.
As Penelope worked to decorate the cookies Y/N cleaned the kitchen before helping Emily wrap. Christmas music spilled from the TV in the living room with everyone singing along. When Santa Baby came on Penelope rushed from her spot in the kitchen to begin to dance in front of the two women in the living room. She swung her hips seductively doing her best to flirt with every word that escaped her lips.
“Don’t start something you can’t finish Princess,” Emily warned as she finished wrapping another gift.
“Who said we couldn’t finish. We have the time.”
“Please Emmy,” Y/N begged, “It has been so long.”
Emily rolled her eyes setting aside her scissors, “Bedroom now.”
Penelope and Y/N giggled as they rushed off to the bedroom throwing their clothes as they went. Emily merely smiled as she finished one more gift before she went to join her loves.
—------------------------------
Hours later Emily, Penelope, and Y/N were waiting on the front porch of Rossi’s mansion decked out in their color-coordinated outfits. Emily was in a burgundy blazer and pants. Instead of a traditional top, she merely had a black velvet bra. Y/N was wearing a long velvet green dress with a plunging neckline that showed off the cleavage her girlfriends loved so much.  Penelope was a perfect combination of both with green puffballs in her hair, a dress with a red top and green skirt, and then red heels. They were late due to Penelope insisting that they take what seemed like a million pictures of their outfits. Emily and Y/N had groaned the whole time but Penny knew they loved the pictures just as much as she did. Y/N had already changed her phone background to one of her favorites.
Once they were inside the party started conversations and drinks floweing easily. Penelope had offered to be the designated driver for the night so Em and Y/N got a chance to participate in all of the annual drinking games. By the end of the night they were more than a little drunk and all of their attention was turned towards Penelope.
Emily and Y/N took turns placing five kisses on each of Penelope’s cheeks making her giggle. Y/N wrapped her arms around Penelope’s neck from behind resting her head on the blonde’s shoulder. Emily was more straightforward and plopped herself directly in her girlfriend’s lap. Penelope placed a gentle kiss on Y/N’s hand before doing the same to Em.
“Are you both having fun?”
“Yes but we are tired,” Y/N sighed.
“And we require cuddles,” Emily whispered.
Pen did her best not to laugh as a small pout formed on Emily’s lips. Instead she pressed another kiss to her knuckles, “Why don’t you and Y/N gather all of our belongings, and when you get back we can go home?”
“To cuddle and watch movies?” Y/N responded trying to help Emily up from the blonde’s lap.
“So many cuddles and we can even watch White Christmas,” Penelope smirked.
Y/N let out an excited squeal at the mention of her favorite Christmas movie and pulled the brunette in the direction of where they had left their coats. Penelope laughed as she watched the loves of her life trying to piece together when they had left all of their things.
As she sat watching Derek sat next to her., “Those two women really love you baby girl.”
“They really do. I am really the luckiest girl there is.” “When are you going to tell them the big news?”
“Tomorrow, when they are sober and can actually remember what I am telling them,” Penelope giggled as Emily and Y/N bonded over their hands intertwined, “Did my loves find everything?”
“We think so,” Emily shrugged, “If anything shows up missing I know who to call… Spencer because Rossi makes me charge him a storage fee if I call him.”
Derek laughed offering to help everyone to the car. By the time Penelope got Y/N and Emily in their matching pj’s, they were struggling to keep their eyes open. Sticking to her word however she turned White Christmas on the bedroom TV before crawling into bed. Emily already had her limbs tangled around Y/N snoring on her shoulder. Y/N kept herself awake until Penelope placed a kiss on her forehead and laid on her other shoulder.
“I love you Penny,” Y/N said barely above a whisper.
“I love you Y/N. Forever and always,” Penelope replied and within seconds Y/N was asleep.
—-----------------------------------------
Y/N and Emily woke to the smell of coffee and the sound of Penelope singing Christmas music. Emily groaned burying her face into Y/N’s neck, “Make it stop. Too early.”
Y/N looked over at the alarm clock on the bedside table and groaned, “It’s ten-thirty. We have to get up. You know Pen typically likes to start Christmas at eight.”
“Just five more minutes,” Em whined.
“I let you both sleep in for over two hours no more sleeping,” Penelope scoffed, “Now sit up so I can give you your coffee.”
Emily let out a large dinosaur noise before sitting up and taking her favorite cup from London filled exactly the way she liked. Y/N reached for her large ghost mug pulling it close to her chest. As soon as they had each taken a couple of sips from their respective cups Penelope reached out and gave them two small pills. Both of the women took them gratefully before Penelope was rushing them out of the bedroom. They ate breakfast mostly in silence as the two people who hate mornings began to slowly adjust to being awake. By the time they drank their second cup of coffee they were both in good spirits and cleaning up the dishes.
When they were done Penelope put her Santa hat on being the designated person to pass out gifts this year. Emily and Y/N chose a spot on the floor wrapping themselves up in the blankets Pen had laid out for them. The room filled with wrapping paper and laughter as they unwrapped the gifts they had made/bought for each other. Just when Emily and Y/N thought all of the presents were done and they could go take a nap Penelope pulled out two final gifts.
She handed the small green box to Emily and a medium-sized red box to Y/N. Emily cocked her eyebrow at the blonde, “Penelope… what is this you are already way over the annual budget.”
Pen rolled her eyes, “Just open it, please. It is technically something we already spent money on.”
Em let out a slight grumble and opened the box. When she did she looked over wide-eyed at Y/N who was crying. Y/N held up a black shirt with the words Be Nice To Me My Wife Is Pregnant. Below the large heading were the words: Baby Garcia-Prentiss due July 2019. Emily began to cry as she held up Penelope’s first ultrasound.
Both of the women looked up at the blonde who was smiling wiping tears from her eyes, “Surprise we are pregnant!”
Y/N and Em rushed to take Penelope into a large hug. They placed kisses over both of her cheeks just like they did the night before more laughter filling the air. Penelope squeezed her loves close one final time before looking at Y/N.
“So baby, how does this Christmas compare to all your other Christmases with us?” She asked placing a quick kiss on her lips.
“The best one yet,” Y/N smiled.
“Until next year when we get to watch this little one open all their presents, “ Emily replied placing her hand onto Penelope’s belly.
They all nodded in agreement before Penelope let out a large yawn and reported that it was time for their Christmas nap. Y/N and Emily quickly agreed and soon they fell asleep with Penelope enveloped in their arms. Sergio laid at their feet realizing that soon he would not be the only baby the three women in the house showered with all their love.

Heid AU: Romance from the first season
A friend (@chuishiu) and I got talking about an AU HEID: What if ...? Hotch split from Haley a few months before meeting Reid. What if Hotch never changed his personality from season one and he and Reid were attracted from the beginning?
The idea seemed very interesting to me, so I started to draw some sketches about it:
Tumblr media
1- Gideon introduces Reid to the team.
From that moment on, Hotch would feel a strange attraction for Reid, considering him cute and Reid would also think that Hotch is quite handsome but trying very hard to hide these thoughts. Let's remember that the Spencer of the first seasons was less adept at socializing, so I imagine that the Reid "Pre-team" would speak in a very low tone - almost like whispers - he would blush a lot, he would trip over things etc. So Hotch would be the one to help him adjust - yes; at the beginning he would be the one who would protect him the most, Morgan's "big brother" attitude would take time to appear.
Tumblr media
2- Difficult to hide the attraction ...
Hotch and Reid would strive to maintain their working relationship; but they would soon accept that it is impossible, especially in the time that Reid had to train with weapons and Hotch was his instructor. Reid tries hard not to fail in training him but can't think of anything other than Aaron. Taking into account that this is the Hotch of season one -who for me looks more relaxed and entertaining-, I think that he would not respect the rules so much and little by little he would approach Reid, even taking advantage of the training to hug him.
Tumblr media
3- Spend time together
It is quite possible that in this AU, Reid would rather spend more time with Aaron than with Morgan or JJ - although this does not mean that they do not become friends with him - and Aaron also accepts Reid's invitations to go out.
They are aware of the "no love relationship" rule that exists at BAU but they take a risk anyway. My AU's Hotch is slightly more rebellious than the one in the show, and this AU's Reid is more dreamy, yearning to experience romance that he never could in his student years. However, these encounters can become reckless, showing affection for each other in the wrong places and times, such as lunchtime.
I fervently believe that the first to discover everything is García and that at the beginning she will suffer a lot for keeping the secret, that is; She is also aware of the "no love" rule at BAU but deep down she finds them adorable and will become her personal shipper.-LOL.
Tumblr media
4- First night together
To be honest; I've always liked the idea of clandestine / forbidden romances, so I think this would be one. BUT, I have my own details and points to clarify:
1- The romance between Hotch and Reid is secret; But not because either of them is ashamed. I have read a lot of fics in Spanish and English that deal with Hotch being embarrassed and afraid that the team will find out about his relationship with Reid, but the Hotch from this AU definitely doesn't mind hiding his feelings for him, he just doesn't want his partner to lose his I work at the BAU.
2-The Spencer of this AU is more "childish / insecure" when being with Aaron, but it is possible that on their first night together he is the most excited. He will ask Aaron to take control of everything by having more experience than him, but once he gains knowledge in bed, later he will be the one who "demands" the most to spend the nights together.
3-A Headcanon that I manage in this AU of Hotch is that he lived all kinds of relationships in his youth, but that does not mean that he is a dominant person in bed. Personally, I don't really like that Hotch is portrayed in some fics as someone who is very rude to Reid when having sex. I think he is more of a passionate person who shows the true romantic self of him in bed and therefore smiles and jokes a little only when he is with his partner. On his part; I visualize Reid as someone who loves to feel protected by Hotch but that does not mean that he cannot do anything on his behalf, on the contrary, he may be the one who best organizes everything in the relationship: times to see each other, to pass. time together, how to relax, etc. and Hotch would "obey" all because he knows it works.
So far that's all I've written and drawn, but I think I'll do more scenes where you can see how the rest of the team reacts to the relationship, how Hotch will tell Gideon face to face that he loves Reid, how they would change. various chapters of the series according to this relationship, etc.
Do you have any recommendations on what I should draw for this AU? I would like to know your opinion.
PS- I'm sorry for my poor English, but it's not my native language

Lessons Learned
Spencer Reid x (female) Reader (but reader doesn’t actually appear in the scene, that’s more of a postscript thing)
Word Count: 1225
Warnings: Non-explicit discussion of sex, in an oddly sweet and wholesome kinda way.
A/N: In which Emily gives Spencer some advice!
Inspired by @softspence / @homoose and this ask / this fic! Because it’s been a while (or, y’know, a week) since I wrote about the importance of communication during sex, and then I got to thinking about the whole “men being threatened by vibrators” thing, and... fic happened.
Tumblr media
“I swear to god, Kevin’s eyes just about bugged out of his head when he saw mine,” Penelope is saying, as Spencer slides back onto his chair.
“They get so threatened, right?” Emily exclaims. “It’s a tool, not a competitor.”
Penelope sighs. “God. Men. No offense, Spencer.”
“None taken?” he says tentatively. “Um… what are you talking about?”
“Vibrators,” Emily informs him, and Spencer chokes a little bit on absolutely nothing. “And the time a man told me female ejaculation is a myth, and all the other reasons I prefer having sex with women.”
“Maybe I’ll just — um,” Spencer mutters, looking around desperately for an excuse to be somewhere else. For a second he considers joining JJ and Derek on the dance floor, but that’s its own kind of hell.
“Which part of that statement made you uncomfortable?” Emily asks, laughing. “C’mon, Doctor Reid, I’m sure you have some statistics on the female orgasm.”
Spencer grimaces, but offers, “Women orgasm during heterosexual intercourse roughly sixty-one percent of the time, compared to eighty-six percent during lesbian sex.”
“There you go,” Emily says, slapping her hand on the table with a grin. “And I bet it’s only that low because women don’t always expect reciprocation. Sometimes I just want to go down on a chick, you know?”
Spencer just looks at her, wide-eyed, feeling like a deer caught in headlights.
“I’m gonna go get another drink and get my dance on,” Penelope interrupts with a giggle. “Be back in a bit. Spencer, try not to die of embarrassment while I’m gone.”
“I should probably switch to water,” Emily muses, draining the last sip of her drink. Once Penelope is out of earshot, she adds, “I’m sorry, Spence, I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.”
“No, it’s not that, exactly.” Spencer frowns down at the table. “It’s just — never mind.”
Emily is studying him, uncomfortably sharp even though she’s way past tipsy. “You still haven’t, have you? Gone down on a girl, I mean.”
Spencer’s entire face is hot. “That’s… you’re correct.”
“You’ve had sex, though,” Emily says.
Either Spencer’s been saying some embarrassing things in his sleep during jet naps, or she’s… well, a profiler. Right.
“She wasn’t —we didn’t — once, and it was a… perfunctory experience.” He sighs, dropping his face into his hands, and admits all in one breath, “Idon’tlikebeingbadatstuff.”
When he looks up again, Emily’s smiling at him, not unkindly. “Are you looking for some advice?”
“I know the theory, but —”
“Not something you can learn from a book. Yeah. Believe me, Spencer, I am happy to talk about this stuff,” Emily says. She’s obviously sincere, and Spencer feels some of his embarrassment melt away. “Not enough men want advice, and that’s part of the problem.”
Spencer shrugs. “Then… yeah, I’m asking you for advice.”
Emily nods and folds her hands, sitting up a little straighter; she means business.
“Lesson one: make sure your fingernails are clipped and filed and clean,” she says authoritatively.
“That makes sense.”
“Second: take your fucking time. Okay? Don’t just, like, faceplant tongue-first onto the clit.” Spencer almost chokes on his drink at that, and Emily smirks before continuing, “Women are beautiful, right? Seems obvious to you and me, but a lot of the time, they don’t believe that they’re beautiful, and when they’re naked, they tend to worry about whether you think they’re beautiful.”
“Huh.”
Yeah, none of the books ever mentioned that.
“So take your time getting there. Appreciate the rest of her body. Kissing, touching, licking, just — looking, and exploring, and letting her know that you like what you see. That you like all of her, and not just what’s between her legs. If you can make her feel comfortable — not just comfortable with you, but comfortable in her own skin — that’s going to make it a whole lot easier for her to enjoy herself. Got it?”
“Got it,” Spencer says softly.
Emily takes a sip of her drink and clears her throat.
“Okay. Here’s where a lot of dudes get tripped up: fucking communicate. Just ask her what she likes, and then actually listen to what she says. There’s nothing wrong with not being confident. It’s a whole lot better than being over-confident.”
“Yeah, I don’t think over-confident will be a problem for me,” Spencer says wryly.
“Good. Because way too many guys go into sex assuming that they already know how to blow her mind, or whatever, and that this is a chance for them to, like, amaze her with their moves, and a lot of the time, they got their moves from porn and they suck.” Emily’s getting a little rant-y. She takes a deep breath and continues. “Anyway, just — just ask her. She might not be comfortable, at first, saying it bluntly like that, so listen to her body, too, right? Touch her in different ways and pay attention to how she responds. Fingers, tongue… suction, penetration… everybody — every body — is different.”
Spencer nods, and hesitates before saying, “I’ve heard a couple men talk about it, and they always make it sound — intimidating? And not necessarily… enjoyable.”
“Men are fucking weird,” Emily says bluntly. “It’s awesome. Not like jizz tastes like chocolate and strawberries, anyway. But, like, it’s… human, you know? There’s something hot about it, even if it’s not what you’d usually enjoy. And the wetter she gets, the longer you spend down there, the better she’s going to taste.”
Spencer’s cheeks are burning again. He rubs his eyes, trying to cover his discomfort. “And how — I mean…”
“You’ll know,” Emily says wryly. “And also, when it’s over, she’ll be sensitive, and she’ll push you away, because it’ll be too much.”
“Oh.”
“And it’s not — it’s not necessarily comfortable, you know? Feels like you’re gonna fucking suffocate, sometimes. You’ll have her thighs around your head, and she’ll be all trembly, trying to move her hips, maybe pulling your hair, but —” Emily’s smiling now, equal parts dreamy and smug. “— feeling someone just fall apart like that, feeling their whole body shaking — making them feel good — it’s amazing.”
“That doesn’t sound so bad,” Spencer mumbles.
“Really, though,” Emily says seriously. “The most important thing is that you take your ego out of the equation. Stop worrying about being ‘good’ or ‘bad’ at it. Whether it’s your fingers or your mouth or your dick or her fucking vibrator, ask her what to do, and then do it. Understood?”
“Yeah. I understand.” He gives her a grateful smile.
Emily studies him for a moment and then says, “For what it’s worth? Just knowing you as a friend, knowing how much you care about people, I think your future partners are in good hands.” It’s unusually earnest for her and it catches Spencer off-guard, but before he can think of a response, she flashes him a bright grin and adds, “If they want to thank me, though, my favorite flowers are roses.”
Spencer laughs. “I’ll remember that, if I ever meet someone special.”
“You will. Don’t worry.”
“Thanks, Em.”
Sure enough, he meets you a few months later.
Your breathless, “How did you do that?” was meant to be rhetorical, but he tells you the whole story anyway. You have a huge bouquet delivered to Emily’s apartment, along with a bottle of wine and a card that says, “Can’t thank you enough.”

The Start of Something New // s.r.
spencer reid x reader
requested: nope! the first of seven (!!!) fics for my 2k writing challenge event!! I used the prompts “weddings” & “did you need something?”
summary: A wedding for a mutual friend might just be the start of something new for you.
word count: 2k
warnings: weddings, fluff
A/N: I LOVED writing this one so much! I’m kind of thinking about writing a second part to it, but i’m not sure yet. I’ve got a handful of other fics I’d rather get out beforehand. But if you want one, definitely let me know! I’d love to write more for spencer and I think it’d be really cute to show the progression of their relationship. Anyways, I hope you like this! & if you’d like to join the challenge, you can join up until this sunday!
“Oh wow, she looks gorgeous.” You whisper to Penelope, smiling when you catch sight of JJ’s smile.
She looks beyond happy to be marrying Will, and you couldn’t be happier for her. After what she’s been through, she deserves every moment of this.
“She does.” Penelope quietly coos, emotion overtaking her voice as she watches your guys’ friend.
“I can’t wait until your wedding day. I just know it’s going to be perfect.”
“My wedding day? Penelope, you’re dreaming.” You scoff, laughing at the idea. You couldn’t be any more single if you tried. Between this job and your deep-seated fear of abandonment, you have little ability to hold a relationship.
Sure, you’d love to have someone to come home to and to share yourself with, but the reality is that it’s not going to happen for a while. At least not until you do some serious work on yourself.
“I wouldn’t be so sure, muffin. I see the way you look at our young doctor.”
“Spencer?! No. You’re delusional now, Garcia.” You whisper-laugh, ignoring the light blush you can feel warming your cheeks.
“Am I though?” She retorts, giving you her knowing look before turning back to your friend as she makes her way down the aisle.
You shake your head, trying to ignore her as you turn your attention back to JJ, but you can’t help yourself from glancing towards Spencer.
You can’t deny that he’s cute in his own adorable way, but you wouldn’t say you're crushing on him or anything. He may fill your daydreams from time to time, but it doesn’t mean anything more than the fact that you spend a lot of time around him due to work and that you find him nice to look at.
Putting it out of your mind, you watch as JJ meets Will at the altar, both of them carrying bright smiles filled with love for the other. She really does deserve to be this happy.
It easily brings tears to your eyes as they say their vows, JJ herself getting watery eyes as Will slides the ring on her finger.
You can’t help but cheer as they’re finally allowed to kiss, both you and Penelope clinging to each other at the cuteness and overwhelming happiness of it all.
“Our girl is married, Penelope.” You sigh, pouting slightly although you couldn’t be happier.
“I know. It’s beautiful.”
“It really is. God, I’m so emotional right now.” You chuckle, carefully wiping at your watery eyes.
“How are you doing, momma?” Derek asks, his words directed at Penelope as he and Spencer join the two of you, his arm wrapping around her shoulders.
“We’re emotional.” She chuckles as she wipes at her eyes as well.
“We can see that.” Derek laughs, squeezing his arm around her, attempting to console her.
“Did you know, biologically the reason you are so emotional right now is due to your parasympathetic system?” Spencer starts, demonstrating his brilliance once again. You’re not complaining, though, as you actually enjoy hearing his random knowledge.
“Psychologically, however, your emotional state could be due to an unconscious perception of helplessness or it could be to show vulnerability, solicit sympathy, advertise trust, or the need for attachment.”
“Alright, mr. smarty-pants. Ladies in this state just want consolation, yeah?” Derek retorts, drawing a laugh from both you and Penelope.
“We’re fine. It’s just such a happy event.” You chuckle, wiping yet another stray tear from your eye.
“That it is, y/l/n. JJ deserves this.”
“She does. I’m actually going to go find her and congratulate her. If you’ll excuse me.” You smile, dipping out of the conversation.
~.~
You can’t help but smile as you look over the small crowd, all of them basking in the happiness of the night.
It’s been a couple hours now and you still can’t believe that one of your best friends is now married to the love of her life. She is definitely one of the lucky ones to have found such a love, and to have such a beautiful kid with him too. You can only hope that you’ll have this one day too.
Thinking about your own special day, you can’t help but recall your earlier conversation with Penelope. Are you really looking at Spencer that differently that others can notice?
Sure, Penelope seems to be more observant than others, but you must be looking at Spencer differently for her to even consider you liking him, right?
Let’s say that you did like him, it’s not like he feels the same back. You are just coworkers, teammates. Sure, you could be considered friends, but it’s not like you spend much time together outside of the office.
“Are you alright, y/n?” You hear Spencer ask, drawing you out of your thoughts.
“Hmm? Oh, yeah. Yeah.” You smile, nodding lightly as you take a sip of the champagne that Rossi brought out for the event. It’s honestly amazing how perfectly he put this together. You don’t think it could be better if anyone else did it.
“Are you sure? It’s just, you seem like you’re pretty distracted over here.”
“Yeah, I’m good. Just thinking about a few things. Nothing important, though.”
He nods lightly, clicking his tongue as he gently rocks back on his feet. You can’t help the little quirk of your lips, entranced by the fluffy-haired boy.
“I’m sorry, did you need something? Or were you just, uhm, checking on me?”
He laughs a bit, looking down at the ground as he attempts to hide a smile. Even now you can’t help but find him adorable. It’s just who he is.
“Sort of. I, uh, I was wondering if you’d like to dance? With me?” He questions, blushing lightly as he watches you for a reaction, finding himself relieved when a soft smile finds its place on your lips.
“I’d love to, Spence.”
At his smile, you feel your own lips quirking up more. You set your glass down, letting him lead you out to the makeshift dance floor, joining your teammates as they all dance with each other.
You see Penelope give you a smirk and you just roll your eyes, turning your attention to Spencer as he wraps his arm around you.
“You look really nice tonight, by the way.” He smiles as he spins you around to the music.
“Thank you! You look very nice yourself, Spence.”
At your compliment, you notice him flush, smiling giddily. He doesn’t say anything, however, and you take it as he’s just not sure what to say.
You dance to another song, smiling and laughing occasionally, before Rossi decides to cut in - which you happily let him do as he’s been a father figure for you since you joined the BAU.
“You know, you and Einstein look good together.” He starts, nodding towards Spencer who joined in a dance with Penelope.
“Do we?” You chuckle, smiling as he nods.
“The next wedding I put together better be yours, kid.”
You can’t help the small laugh that leaves your body as you shake your head.
“I’ll make sure to inform you whenever that may happen, Rossi. I think you’re good for another few years, though.”
“You better. Now let me show you how to dance, because watching you was an eyesore.” He jokes, earning a boisterous laugh from you as you slap his arm.
~.~
By the end of the night, you’ve spent far more time dancing than your feet would have liked, but you can’t complain. You managed to snag a dance with each of your teammates, including JJ, who couldn’t stop smiling.
You had indulged on Rossi’s phenomenal cooking, and you even happened to miraculously catch the bouquet - which had earned cheers and more teasing from the girls.
Now, at nearly 1 am, you were beyond ready to get home and go to bed. You had had a wonderful time, having a bunch of fun with everyone, but you were tired and there was no denying it.
“JJ!” You call, spotting her at the refreshments table grabbing a drink.
“Y/n! Hey, how are you?”
“Good. How are you, JJ? God, I can’t believe you’re married now. I’m so happy for you, though.” You smile, grabbing a small glass of water for yourself.
“Amazing. This has been so...perfect. I can’t believe Rossi did all of this for us.” She chuckles.
“I know, it’s been such a wonderful night. I think I’m going to head home though, okay? I’ve danced myself out.”
“Oh, absolutely! Get home and get some sleep. I am so glad you were able to spend the night with us and celebrate.”
“Of course, JJ! I wouldn’t have missed it. You have a good rest of the night, yeah? I’ll see you on Monday.” You beam, pulling her into a hug.
“See you on Monday. Good night, y/n.”
You hug her goodbye before making your way around to the rest of the team. You're wishing Penelope and Derek a good night when Spencer joins the three of you.
“Are you leaving?” He directs to you, noticing how you’re hugging Penelope.
“Yeah, I think so. I’m exhausted. I’ll see you on Monday, alright spence?”
“Wait, I-if you don’t mind, I think I’ll head out with you?” He suggests.
“Oh, sure. I’m just catching a cab, though.” You explain, wanting to make sure he wasn’t planning on just catching a ride with you.
“Perfect, I’ll join you.”
“O-okay . Well, I still need to find hotch and Rossi.”
“No problem. I’ll see you guys on Monday.” Spencer waves, wishing Derek and Penelope a goodnight.
“You too, pretty boy. Behave on the ride home, yeah?” Derek smirks, winking at the two of you.
You silently groan, rolling your eyes as Penelope smacks his arm but is laughing along with him.
Spencer nods awkwardly, looking more than confused, but he doesn’t say anything. Instead, he follows along behind you as you make your way through the small crowd to find hotch or Rossi.
“Spencer. Y/n. Are you heading out?” You hear hotch ask as you’re still trying to weave through the few guests still celebrating.
Pausing, you turn to find hotch and his guest - beth - smiling happily.
“Hotch. Yeah, We were actually trying to find you to say goodbye.” You smile, looking between him and Beth as she holds onto his arm gently.
“Ah, well I’ll see you both on Monday then. I’m glad you’ve stayed awhile.” He smiles, nodding politely at the both of you.
“Me too. It’s been wonderful, especially seeing JJ so happy. Rossi really did a wonderful job.”
“He certainly knows how to throw a celebration together. Have a good night, both of you.”
“You too, hotch. Beth, it’s been wonderful to meet you.” You smile, nodding politely as Spencer says his goodbyes.
You eventually find Rossi, wishing him a goodnight and talking for a few moments while Spencer finds Emily and JJ. Within a few minutes, though, you’re both making your way down Rossi’s driveway, laughing lightly as you stumble in your heels.
“Do you want to take those off?” Spencer questions, steadying you as you stumble a little more.
“When I get home. A cab should be here soon, Rossi called one for us.”
“Sounds good. Thank you for letting me catch a ride with you.”
“Anytime, Spence. Having you come with actually makes me feel safer taking a cab this late at night.”
“I’m glad?” He chuckles, not really sure what to say to that.
“You really do look nice tonight, y/n.” He compliments after a moment.
“Thank you. I don’t get to dress up often, but it’s kind of fun.”
“You’re good at it.” He mumbles, but you hear him, a shy smile finding its way onto your face.
All this time you thought that he couldn’t possibly like you as anything more than a friend, but here he is saying things like this. You can’t help but wonder if maybe he does like you.
As the cab pulls up, however, and he opens the door for you, helping you in before getting in himself, you don’t mind finding out if there is a possibility that you could be walking down the aisle soon enough. You especially don’t mind as he carefully interlinks your hands in the middle of the backseat, after motioning for you to rest your head on his shoulder upon seeing you yawn.
Maybe, just maybe, the rest of the team knows what they’re seeing between the two of you that you had failed to notice before now.

part one - part two
Tumblr media
a/n: did i damn near put this entire song in this fic? yes, yes i did i’m so sorry....highly unedited.
how was your guys’ holiday?
warning(s): language. angst. fluff....
word count: 2.6k
request(ed): yes.
summary: old things try to get fixed, while new feelings and places...arise and get mixed.
(wtf am i dr. seuss now??)
——————————————&———————————
feeling used, but i’m still missing you. and i can’t see the end of this, just wanna feel your kiss, against my lips
and now all this time, is passing by.... but i can’t seem to tell you why. it hurts me every time i see you realize how much i need you...
Seeing Spencer and actually letting all of that out did a number on you. You apologized to Aaron countless times and he said it was okay countless times but you still felt so bad. He didn’t deserve that. He didn’t deserve your drama, and not to mention how embarrassing it’s been. You felt like you ruined his whole night. It was supposed to be fun and yet you didn’t have any. He said he did but you know Hotch didn’t.
You’d have to make it up to him somehow soon but you didn’t know how. How are you supposed to fix this? Any of this??
It feels like you’re being sucked into the eye of a tornado little by little and you just can’t get out. It feels like everyone else is safe on the ground feet planted and they’re all just staring at you and laughing. Staring and not helping.
Your chest hurt. You hated feeling like this. So helpless...and stuck. You were stuck and not ready to fix it...well...part of it. You could still fix one thing. You didn’t have to be stuck here. Here in this small apartment with no room for anything let alone breathe. You needed space. You needed change. You needed control. Everything is spinning in circles and there’s nothing you can do about it. You can’t stop it.
So why not do something that could help you? That you’ve been meaning to do but never had the time for?
Apartment searching. Well...bigger apartment searching.
Where you were staying now was a studio apartment. You loved the open concept except for how small it was. You just need room.
Before...
“I like it here. It’s so small and cute.”
You could tell cute was a foreign word to Spencer when it came to describing a building. But he was trying. You thought he was cute.
“Thanks Spencer but I’m thinking something different. Maybe another bedroom for a roommate...or just a bigger one for y’know...another person.”
You never really brought up the idea of moving in together before. Sure, it’d be easier...his job was nearby, and there was a bus stop at the end of the street, and there was you....so his reaction kind of put you...off.
“Roommate sounds good. One of your friends maybe? Although I wouldn’t want her to y’know...interrupt us.” He had that cute seductive tone to his voice but he wasn’t sounding very cute and seductive.
You weren’t going to argue. “Yeah...a roommate. Who do you think I should ask?” you paused. “Sara or Malia?”
Spencer was quiet for a moment, like he was thinking. “Malia maybe?”
You didn’t have a friend named Malia.
And that’s what hurt the most you think. The fact that you still thought about him 24/7 even though what you had with him wasn’t perfect. You thought it was before..you thought he was before..but now you’re realizing nothing about it was perfect but at least it was something. Now you have nothing.
It was only the afternoon so you decided to look for some places. You found 3 places suitable for what you were looking for. All 3 were good sizes, good prices, and a good amount away from your job and college. You felt almost lucky. This felt almost too easy.
Until you saw the first two places in person. They were okay, but not really what you were looking for.
The last place though...the place was great, the location was great, the neighborhood was great, hell even the yard. Hell, you’d have no use for it, you didn’t have a kid but it was still a nice looking yard. You could tell that someone in the apartment, hopefully your new neighbor, took great care of the gardens.
You looked around at the surrounding mix of apartments and houses (mostly houses) and saw 2 little kids playing in the house 2 houses over. One of them looked like Jack. It couldn’t be, right? Hotch’s house wasn’t over here.
Nevertheless you watched for a few seconds and it was Jack. You decided to go over and say hi.
Jack stopped playing and immediately ran towards you.
“Y/N!!” He grinned. You got down to his level and hugged him back just as enthusiastically.
“Hey Jackie! Whatcha doin?” He only let you call him that. Only you.
“Sleepover. This is Sam. It’s almost time for Ana to drop me off at home though.”
You said hi to Sam and asked if Ana was his mom. She was and as soon as you told Sam your name, Ana came out of the house and waved you over.
“Hey, I’m Y/N. Friend of Jack’s and Hotch.”
She smiled. And shook your hand.
“I’m Ana. I’ve heard about you! Jack talks about you quite a lot.”
You and Ana talked for a while. She seemed like a really amazing person. If you end up getting the place you could see you and her becoming great friends, and since she seemed really busy you offered to take Jack home. She protested but you insisted. It wasn’t like you were doing much anyway. The landlord had already left and you were just going to go home anyway.
On the way to Hotch’s you bought Jack his favorite ice cream. You couldn’t help it.
The whole car ride Jack’s conversation thankfully distracted you but when you got to his house you couldn’t help but remember that night and how embarrassed you felt.
Seeing Hotch only made it worse. Especially since he wasn’t wearing his work clothes- just a shirt and sweatpants, and you couldn’t help but look because he looked incredibly.....good. He looked so great and you were so mad at yourself for how that night ended with him. You were supposed to be having fun and neither of you did.
He hugged you when you got to the door anyway. You explained to him what happened- even the apartment searching while he invited you in for coffee.
A whole year with Spence and he never invited you in. Ever.
Do you miss me like I miss you? Fucked around and got attached to you Friends can break your heart too And I’m always tired but never of you
If I pulled a you on you, you wouldn’t like that shit I put this reel out, but you wouldn’t bite that shit I type a text but then I never mind that shit I got these feelings but you never mind that shit
“Mom, please, I’m fine. Nothing’s wrong.”
Your mom gave you a look over her mug that said, ‘Do I look like I’m dumb?’ And she wasn’t. Perhaps you weren’t any good at hiding your feelings. Could everyone tell?
You were doing better now.
It’s been a month? Maybe two.
Either way it’s been a while and you weren’t as hurt as you were before. Some nights you woke up heart aching, tears falling, but you aren’t as bad as you were those first few weeks.
Truth is, you missed Spencer. You spent those weeks blaming yourself and wondering why you why you?
But you accepted that you weren’t ready for that answer. A part of you had forgiven Spencer. A part.
You were still heartbroken. You were still angry and hurt. But you’ve been trying to move on. In fact, you’d be moving entirely. Yesterday you finished all the paperwork with your new landlord. You were going to finish packing after visiting your mom.
“Momma I’m fine there’s just a lot going on right now.”
She wouldn’t accept that answer. She persisted you told her what was wrong. So you did. You told her about Spencer...and about Hotch...
Aaron.
You had been spending some weekends with him. Some were alone, just the two of you, and other times it was the three of you. Him, Jack, and you. Whenever you thought about Hotch you had the feeling in your stomach you got whenever you heard from Spencer.
But you still have that feeling for Spencer.
Things were so confusing right now - you weren’t sure if you wanted to move on from Spencer. You didn’t want to rush in with Aaron either though. That’d hurt the both of you.
Last weekend...
“Y/N you cannot tell me you think New Girl is better than Friends.”
Aaron was in a gray shirt and sweatpants while you were in relatively the same. You both sat together on his couch each a cup of coffee in your hands. You had promised you’d help him shop with Jack for new clothes and you had just agreed to stay the night since it had gotten so late.
“Oh a hundred percent. New Girl is way better.”
Hotch laughed.
“Friends is a classic. There wouldn’t be a New Girl without Friends.”
“There wouldn’t be a Friends without Living Single Aaron.”
He rolled his eyes but conceded. “True but still. Friends is better.”
You hadn’t been that happy in a while. You were breathing...you were living. Out in the open. Unbidden.
You ever wonder what we could have been? You said you wouldn’t and you fucking did Lie to me, lie with me, get your fucking fix Now all my drinks and all my feelings are fucking mixed
Always missing people that I shouldn’t be missing Sometimes you gotta burn some bridges just to create some distance I know that I control my thoughts and I should stop reminiscing But I learned from my dad that it’s good to have feelings
There was a bottle of liquor in your hand
You would have gone to the bar but you were too sad for it. You didn’t have the will.
Earlier today you decided that you should get a muffin from the coffee shop and see how Em was doing. Right when you got to the door, who was in the window caught your eye.
Spencer.
Spencer and JJ.
Laughing, and eating, and kissing...
In the open. Out in public.
Were you just not good enough? Was that it? Could you not understand him because you didn’t work in the BAU? Was what you had all one sided?
Unanswered questions and half a bottle later you were passed out on your couch crying.
You thought you were over it for sure this time. But it still fucking hurts. Is keeping your heart open waiting for him even worth it?
The next morning you took a hot shower. The hottest shower you could handle. You were hungover, and you felt like shit but you still had to pack the rest of your things to move. You still had to move.
Your speakers were on the highest level and your music was so loud you didn’t hear the door knock. You only screamed when you felt someone behind you.
It was Aaron.
“Jesus christ!!” You went to turn down the music.
“You could have killed me!”
“Yes I very well could have!” His arms were crossed. He was upset but still in a playful mood. You could tell. “I could have been a serial killer, you have to lock your doors!”
You rolled your eyes. “Okay, okay, I’ll lock my doors next time.”
He nodded approval as you went to the refrigerator to get him a bottle of water.
“What’s going on?”
“Oh I didn’t tell you?” How had that slipped your mind?
He shook his head.
“I’m moving.”
“You’re moving?” He looked disappointed.
“Yeah not far. A few houses down from Ana actually.”
“Oh good.” He said relieved.”
After that, he decided he wanted to help you. It was nice not being alone even though you told him he didn’t have to stay. He wanted to.
He even helped you transfer the boxes to your new apartment. You didn’t know Aaron had a voice on him...but he did.
“We built this city!” he sang/shouted.
“We built this city on rock and -“
“We built this city!” he answered.
“We built this city on rock and -“
“Rollllllllll” you sang together.
You giggled when the song was over and he grabbed your hand for the rest of the drive. You didn’t pull away. It felt too nice. It felt too right.
After helping you put your boxes into your next place it was time for him to head home. He told you that he could stay and help some more if you wanted but you could tell he was tired. You were tired. You told him you’d call if you needed any more help.
He made you promise you would because he knows you won’t if you feel like you absolutely can do it yourself even when you shouldn’t.
You promised.
On his way out there was a moment where you could have kissed him. Where you were saying goodbye and you were in the doorway and you were close enough to...but you didn’t. You weren’t ready. He knew you weren’t ready. He knew.
The feelings you have for Hotch keep growing but the feelings you have for Spencer stay the same. Spencer used to be your everything. But you weren’t his. You needed someone who would put you first. Well...close to first. Jack should always come first. Always.
You need to come first when it comes to women. Spencer didn’t put you first. Would he ever?
All alone I watch you watch her Like she’s the only girl you’ve ever seen You don’t care you never did You don’t give a damn about me
Yeah, all alone I watch you watch her She is the only thing you ever see How is it you never notice That you are slowly killing me?
Your phones ringtone was blaring and when you opened your tired eyes to read the time on your bedside table it read ‘3 AM.’ Who would call this late? Or...early? Either way you didn’t check the screen and just decided to click green and put the phone to your ear.
“Hello?” Your voice was groggy and you were a little annoyed to be woken up so early. It’s rude to do that to someone. Especially someone who only went to bed three hours ago.
“Y/N.” It wasn’t a question and it wasn’t in command. It was a sigh of relief followed by sniffles and a hiccup. It was Spencer.
“I didn’t think you’d pick up.” he said.
“You’re lucky I didn’t check my screen I should just -“
The only form of communication you’ve had with him since the incident was a few texts. Dry texts. On both ends.
“No!” he panicked. “Please don’t hang up please, please, I - I couldn’t sleep.”
You shut your eyes in frustration. “You called me at three in the morning because you couldn’t sleep?”
“No, I - I’m apologizing because I couldn’t sleep, no I - I’m apologizing because I was - I don’t know -“
“Spencer I really don’t have time for this. I have things to do tomorrow. What’s today Tuesday? We’ll have coffee or something Friday, okay?”
There was silence on the other end for a few seconds. “I have a date, no I mean plans Friday..uhm, Sunday?”
“Sunday.”
And you hung up the phone. You didn’t mean to sound bitter, you didn’t but seriously? You were actually willing to see him for once - maybe a decision your unconscious, pining, mind made - but still, and he can’t because of a date? A date?
With JJ no doubt. Of course it was JJ. It’s always been JJ. Every single time. “I can’t today Y/N JJ needs,” or “JJ called I gotta go,” or “Shoot I’m sorry I know we had plans but JJ -“
Will it always be JJ? Will she always be number one? Has she always been number one and you just never realized it? Have you been the girl he just hung out with because he couldn’t with her?
A few months ago...
“I bought chinese.” You grinned.
“Smells so good.” Spencer took the bags from your hands and kissed you on the cheek.
Spencer picked the movie this time since you picked it last time. He was sitting in the middle of the couch while you had your legs draped across his. Occasionally he’d bring his hand down to rub your legs.
Things were fine. Things were content. Until his phone rang.
“Y/N, It’s JJ I have to go.”
“What does she need?” you ask genuinely worried.
“Nothing I don’t think. I just gotta go.”
I hate you, I love you I hate that I love you You want her, you need her And I’ll never be her

Pairing: Spencer Reid x fem!Reader Warnings: swearing, a little fluffy, but mainly just pure angst, [spoiler alert] no happy ending Word Count: 2k Request/Summary: @mgglover: “fic based on Olivia Rodrigos new song Drivers license where Reid and Reader broke up and reader still loves him (he feels the same and it was just circumstance or not) and then JJ confesses her love to Reid and Reader is distraught.”
-
“Here you go, your black bow tie.” You said, handing Spencer a small box. His fingers brushed gently against yours as he grabbed the box causing the air to hitch briefly in your throat.
“I’m sorry it took so long.” You added. “It was buried deep at the back of our- ehm my wardrobe.” A small nervous smile circled your lips. Spencer smiled back at you. “It’s okay Y/N. Thank you.”
He placed the item on his desk before looking back at you. “You didn't have to come all this way though. I could have stopped by our- ehm your place later to pick it up.” You waved your hand dissuasively. “I just thought it would be easier, in case you got called onto a case or something.” You replied, although the real reason was much more simple than that. You just wanted to see him.
Spencer nodded. He glanced around the empty bullpen before turning his attention back to you; unsure of what to say next.
The two of you used to be able to talk for hours on end, about everything and nothing all at once. Now whenever you saw each other, as rare as these meetings were, you bit your tongue afraid to say the wrong thing. Start another argument perhaps. The brunette doctor did the same.
It was heartbreaking really, because you still loved him. Deeply.
“I better get going.” You said, breaking the surprisingly comfortable silence that has enveloped around you. “Have fun at the wedding and please wish the happy couple my congratulations.” Spencer smiled. “Thanks Y/N, and don’t worry I will.”
With one last longing look, you turned swiftly on your heel and headed for the exit. You pressed the button for the elevator and waited patiently for it to arrive. And as you waited, the brunette doctor snuck up behind you.
“Y/N?” The sound of your name escaping his lips was enough to make your heart skip a beat. You turned to face him again. “I was wondering...” Spencer cleared his throat. “I thought maybe you'd like to accompany me to the wedding?” He asked. You furrowed your brows in confusion. “I don’t kno-”
“I mean that was the plan before we broke up, and I know Rossi would love to have you there.” Spencer paused, and observed your features for a reaction. Which he hoped would be a pleasant one.
“Are you sure Spencer? Won’t that be weird for us?” You questioned but the the hazel-eyed doctor shook his head. “University of Kansas released a study that shows sixty percent of people maintain a friendship after a breakup.” “And you think we can fit within that bracket?” You asked quietly.
“We should at least try because-” He paused and you immediately noticed the hesitation in his eyes. He swallowed. “Well, truth be told Y/NI miss spending time with you.” You couldn't help but smile. “I miss spending time with you too Spencer.” “Really?” He asked, a hint of confusion to his voice. He thought after what transpired you would never want to see him again.
“Of course. Who else will take me to see midnight showings of black and white documentaries on various battles I have never heard of, or The Cheese Mites, or Global Air Routes.” Spencer chuckled. “I can't believe you remember The Cheese Mites.” “Are you kidding? That two minute video is the reason I don’t eat blue cheese anymore.” The grin on your face spread a little wider. “Which is probably best for my digestive system anyway.”
The hazel-eyed doctor smirked. “That it definitely is.”
The elevator door opened with a slight ding; bring you back to reality. With an inaudible sigh, you stepped inside. You peered back at Spencer and positioned your hand on the edge of the metal door, holding it so it wouldn't close yet.
“I’d love to go to the wedding with you Spencer.” “You would?” You nodded in response. “Do you want to meet there or-” Spencer politely cut you off. “I’ll pick you up.”
You let your hand fall and took a step backwards. With a warm smile, you bid him farewell. “See you then Spencer.” "Bye Y/N.”
The door closed. It was then you realised the silly smile greeting your facial features and just how happy and hopeful you were suddenly feeling. Shit.
A week has passed and no word from the brunette doctor. You texted him a couple of times, just to check in, but no response. You began to feel stupid, foolish even. Spencer was probably doubting the whole thing. You should have known his invite was too good to be true.
With a wine glass in hand, you starred blankly at your phone hoping it would suddenly ring. Hoping his name would illuminate your screen like it did a million times before. How stupid, how foolish.
There was a chance he was away on a case, of course you considered that. His hectic schedule and lack of communication has been the cause of many fights in the past. Which is why you began to feel slightly angry, primarily with yourself but also with the hazel-eyed doctor.
A sigh escaped your lips. You took the last sip of your wine, and gently placed the glass in the sink before heading to the bedroom. Within the hour you were showered and ready for bed. It was then your phone rang, finally.
“Hello?” You picked up eagerly.
“Hi Y/N. I’m sorry for calling so late.” Spencer replied, the tone of his voice soothing as always. “Actually, I’m sorry for only calling now. We were in Los Angeles on a case.”
“That’s okay.” You whispered back. A lie. A big fat lie. Yet you knew omitting the truth was better than getting into a silly argument.
Spencer cleared his throat. “Do you think that maybe I could come over? There uhm, there is something I nee-d to tell you.”
“S-sure, sure.” “Great. I’ll be there soon.” And like that the call ended just as quickly as it started.
You picked out a random clean hoodie from your dresser and returned back to the living room where you waited patiently for Spencer to arrive.
Obviously, you wondered what he wanted to talk about. Could it be about you? About your past? Maybe your future? A thought crossed your mind. What if he wanted to get back together?
You shook your head. No. Spencer made it quite clear when the two of you broke up that would never happen. He said you were better off alone, and perhaps that was true. But then again, why would he suggest maintaining a friendship with you if that was the case?
Sound of the doorbell whisked you away from your thoughts and brought you back to reality. You hurried over and greeted the brunette doctor with a shy smile. Without saying a word, you invited him inside and the two of you sat down on the couch.
A weird atmosphere circled the room. You couldn't help but feel uneasy about what was about to be said. The last time you felt this way, your love story was coming to a tragic end.
“Is everything okay Spencer?” You asked quietly. He nodded slowly, although avoided your gaze.
“What’s going on? Did something happen?” You asked, concern spreading through your body. Without really thinking you reached for his hand, and gave it a gentle squeeze. The sudden contact caused the doctor to snap his head in your direction. His eyes locked with yours, and your heart skipped a beat.
“Something did happen.” Spencer began. And as he spoke, he gently traced circled on your hand with your thumb. “There was a hostage situation, and-” “A hostage situation?” You interrupted. “Are you okay?”
“Yes, I'm okay.” He reassured. “That’s not what I came here to say.”
Spencer swallowed hard. He took a deep breath and began to explain. He started with the details of the case, leaving out the more gruesome details because he knew how much you disliked those. He moved onto the hostage situation he found himself in with JJ, and the game.
His tone of voice changed; you noticed it immediately.
“I know we’re over, but in the spirit of trying to remain friends I wanted to be honest with you.” Spencer stated. “JJ admitted-” He gulped. “She ehm- she admitted as part of the game, that she- she’s always loved me.”
You blinked, hand slipping in slow motion out of his grasp. His words ringing in your ears. A gut wrenching feeling twisting your insides, making you incredibly nauseous. Your worst nightmare coming true.
“She said, she said she was too scared to say it before and things were too complicated now.” “Stop.” You whispered but Spencer continued. “She said that I should-” “Stop it!” You jumped to your feet and frustratingly ran your fingers through your hair.
“Y/N...”
“You told me, Spencer you told me many times that I had nothing to worry about when it came to JJ.” Frustration levels rising. Spencer also got up, he reached out to grab you but you took a step back. The hazel-eyed man sighed.
“I swear I didn't know before she felt that way. You have to believe me Y/N.” He took a step toward you, maintaining stern eye contact. He once again tried to take your hand in his, however as soon as his fingers brushed against yours you yanked your hand back.
“I don't believe you.” You muttered. Hot tears began to escape the corners of your eyes, they burned your skin as they traveled down your cheeks. “You’re a profiler, and you literally spend every day with her.”
A broken look spread across the brunette doctor’s face, one to match the complete despair currently gracing your features.
“That’s not fair Y/N.”
“Not fair? Are you fucking kidding me?!” Anger levels spiking. “Fuck Spencer, when we were together you spent more time with her than you did with me!”
“Because we work together!”
“That is a pathetic excuse Spencer and you know it! When we were dating, she always made me doubt! She's older, she knows you longer than me.” The salty tears reached your lips, you began to feel choked up. “JJ is everything I have always been insecure about!”
“Which is why I wanted to come here and tell you what happened in person.”
“No.” You shook your head. “You only came here to ease the guilt.”
“Y/N, please, I am begging you.” The brunette doctor grabbed your wrist before you got a chance to pull away. He held onto you tight, yet not to hurt you. He placed his free hand on your cheek, and for a split second you leaned into his touch.
“Get out.” You whispered while closing your eyes to try and stop the tears from falling. “Get out of my house Spencer.”
“This used to be our house Y/N.” He mumbled back. “Or did you forget that?”
You scoffed, opening your eyes to meet his gaze again. “You said forever, and then you left. So from where I’m standing it seems you are the one who forgot Spencer.”
The sentence seemed to stung the hazel-eyed man. His jaw clenched as he let his arms fall back down to his sides. You watched silently, wiping the wet tears with the sleeve of your hoodie, as Spencer made his way to the front door.
He turned to look at you once again. For a moment, a brief moment, you could have sworn you noticed a genuine hurt in his eyes.
“I know we weren't perfect Y/N.” Pause. “But believe me or not, I have never felt this way for no-one.”
And he was gone. The door shut with a loud bang causing you to jump slightly in your spot. Nausea. Nausea crusaded through your veins. You let out a deep long breath, one you didn't even realise you were holding.
He loved you. It was clear now that’s what he came here to say, and you kicked him out. You pushed him away. Forever.
It was over. Completely, and utterly over.

You roll over in bed when your alarm goes off, but you don’t get very far. Aaron throws an arm over you and pulls you back to him with a grumble.
You huff a laugh and wiggle up against him. It’s all a tease and you both know it - there isn’t any time to get up to anything fun before work, but it’s far too entertaining to rile him up.
“Don’t start something you can’t finish.” His voice escapes his lips between your shoulder blades and you can feel his smile.
“Oh, trust me, babe. I can finish.”
He hums, his smile breaking out into something real. “I noticed.”
+++
When the two of you finally make it out of bed (surprisingly still on time), you grab one of Aaron’s scarves and a hat on your way out. It’s your turn to drop Jack at school today on your way into the office, and the task serves two purposes.
The first? It’s nice to spend time with Jack, just the two of you, when it’s your turn and you’re not on a case. It’s the same for Aaron, who always leaves a little earlier so he and Jack can sit down somewhere and have breakfast together.
The second is pure logistics. You two can’t show up to work in the same car at the same time, so a convenient excuse to separate and stagger your arrivals is welcome.
“Really?”
Aaron’s question stops you at the threshold and you look over your shoulder “What?”
“My hat? My scarf?”
It’s almost too tempting to cave when he’s looking at you like that - his tie hanging around his neck, shirt untucked, arms crossed, and playful frown hiding a smile.
“Yeah. It’s warm and it’s here and we’re late.”
Jack squints up at you and says, “We’re not late.”
“You’re not late.”
The observations come within split seconds of each other and you laugh.
“Fine. Not late, but warm. And you have more hats.” You scamper back into the house to plant a kiss on his lips, smoothing the hair at his temples.
Jack’s laughter is the underscore to your next quip. “You’re very handsome and I’m sure you’re very smart so you can figure it out.”
“Yeah, Dad,” Jack chirps. “Figure it out.”
He has nothing to say to your retreating forms as he catches a glimpse of your smile through the crack in the closing door.
+++
Emily and Spencer are away at a conference-book-signing thing, so it’s just the five of you and Penelope this morning. You’d normally figure that would be Rossi’s purview, but apparently -
“My book-signing days have been put on hold indefinitely in favor of -”
“ - He’s back.” Garcia interrupts, tossing case files at all of you. The conversation is cut short and you suppress a smile. “The Marin headlands last night.”
You can see Aaron’s lips pull as well.
It’s the little things.
Penelope gestures with the notes and crime scene photos appear on the screen. “David Atley and Nicole Puli, both 24, both grad students at Berkeley, shot multiple times in their vehicle-- wait for it--” She clicks again and a familiar sigil appears.
“The Zodiac?” Morgan’s shock is almost sardonic in its delivery.
Rossi snorts. “No way.”
“Come on,” Derek says, amused, while JJ chimes in as well.
 “It's gotta be the 2.0 version.”
While neither of you speak, you share a glance with Aaron. You’re kidding.
He only raises his eyebrows for a split second and shrugs.
There’s some part of you a little paranoid that you’re the most obvious couple to exist in the history of the universe. Sure, the team has been teasing you about your friendship for years, the will-the-won’t-they of it all, but now that it’s real you’re almost terrified that they know everything.
Thus, the overcompensation has been wretched. You and Aaron barely look at each other in the field if you can help it (which you usually can’t) and he tends to put you with Derek more often than not.
In truth, the others have noticed, but are far too interested in the spectacle to say anything. Emily’s almost certain the two of you have slept together, and Dave may or may not have suggested the possibility of a secret marriage during your period of suspension.
However far-fetched and ridiculous their theories, they know you two well enough to know that something happened. The tension is gone.
Derek almost finds himself missing the tension. There hasn’t been much to tease you about lately in its absence.
“Yeah, you would think so, except for the crazy similarities in the MO.” Penelope clicks through the photos as she talks.
“I'm talking same victimology, same geography. And,” she adds. “Two souvenirs were left at the crime scene.” She clicks once more and stands back for the full effect.
“He left a photo?” Rossi asks.
She hums in the affirmative. “Local police say that is Marcia Miller. She was found near Napa in 1971. Strongly suspected that she was a victim of the Zodiac, but police never confirmed it and they didn't publicize the case.”
Morgan’s still squinting at the screen. “So the Zodiac took this photo at the killing and then saved it all these years?”
“The Zodiac's last confirmed victim was the cabdriver Paul Stine,” Dave notes devolving into a conversation about The Zodiac, his timeline, his signature.
It’s nothing new - The Zodiac Killer’s case details are common knowledge in your line of work, nevermind the sheer number of copycats that try their hand at the highly-ritualistic murders before inevitably getting arrested.
There’s a reason this guy hasn’t been caught in forty years.
After a few minutes of bouncing between you all, Hotch pushes back from the table and stands. “Have Reid and Prentiss meet us in San Francisco. Wheels up in 30.”
He heads straight to his office to collect his things and you swing in by the tips of your fingers for just a second. “You wanna call Jess or do you want me to?”
In the middle of throwing files in his briefcase, he doesn’t look up when he answers. “Can you, please? I was supposed to meet with Strauss this afternoon and need to stop by her office before wheels up.”
You smile at him, tapping the door frame twice. “You got it.”
+++
It’s boots on the ground right away when you land in San Francisco. You drive to the crime scene with Aaron in the passenger seat beside you and JJ in the back. The radio’s on, and you sing under your breath, tapping your fingers on the steering wheel as you make your way up to the crime scene.
Before you get to the local FBI agents, JJ catches you by the sleeve. “It’s nice to have music in the car again.”
You just smile at her. Aaron looks a little puzzled.
The three of you wipe the looks off your faces by the time you get to Agent Lynn.
+++
“What did JJ mean?” Aaron asks you.
The two of you are alone for the time being, posted up in the conference room with the old Zodiac case files. You look up. “Hmm?”
“What did she mean when she mentioned the music earlier?”
“Oh.” A little flush of embarrassment shoots down your gut. “Derek pointed out to me last summer that I didn’t play any music in the car.”
...while you were gone is the thing you don’t say, but he knows that’s what you mean.
“I didn’t really notice.” You shrug to cover your fib. “I guess I’ve reacquainted myself with the radio in the last couple of weeks.”
Aaron hums, returning to his work. Something’s off, but you’re sure it’ll come up later.
+++
“You don’t think it’s really him, do you?” You ask, unbuttoning your shirt and throwing your pajamas on.
Surprisingly, this case seems to be one of those that allows for sleep at regular hours. For that, you’re grateful. It’s much harder to find time to wind down with Aaron at the end of the day when you’re all forced to sleep in shifts.
Aaron shakes his head, “No, I think Reid’s right. We’re looking at a particularly sophisticated copycat.”
“Isn’t that kind of worse?” Hopping up on your bed, you curl up and look at him over your nose - a clear invitation to join you.
With a huff down his nose and a little smile, he flops down beside you and props his chin on his arms over your belly. “Could be. Luckily, we have Reid.”
You almost think he’s going to say something else, but he gets that pensive look on his face again.
“What?”
With a sigh, he says, “I’m just thinking about what JJ said.”
“Oh, Aaron -”
He doesn’t let you finish. It’s probably a good thing. You didn’t know what you wanted to say anyway.
“I knew how hard it was on me, but I’m realizing more and more how hard it was on you, too.” He shakes his head. “I feel ...I don’t know. I feel like I should have known better… or something.”
Winding your fingers in his hair, you sit in silence for a moment. He doesn’t have anything more to say and eventually he crawls up your body and settles in under your arm, his head on your chest and legs wound between yours.
Sometimes, you’ve found, he likes to feel small.
“You’re safe and you’re home. That’s what matters.” You kiss the top of his head. “And I love you.”
He hums, arcing into your touch and wrapping an arm around your waist. “I love you.”
+++
You spend much of the next day chasing Spencer around the city, keeping notes handy (for yourself, not for him - he doesn't need them) and reporting back on his discoveries to the team like some kind of overwrought and hyper-trained secretary.
Stepping off to the side, you answer a call from Aaron.
“Hit your limit yet?”
You look over at Spencer, who’s flipping through a newspaper like a man on a mission. “It’s actually kind of entertaining.”
And that’s actually true. Watching Spencer push the limits of his intelligence is always a treat - it happens so rarely you almost forget how much you enjoy it every time.
He huffs into the phone. “Hang in there. We’ll all meet back at the precinct once Reid’s done -”
“Doing magic?”
“Exactly. Keep me posted.” There’s a pause. It’s an odd little habit you two developed in the field to leave space for the words you can’t say in front of the others.
I love you.
“Me too.”
+++
You’re almost asleep when a sliver of yellow light shoots across your room, promptly disappearing as the door to the hallway closes.
He pads across the room and slips under the covers. “Hi.”
A little smile crosses your face as you roll over to face him. “Hi.”
Before you can say anything else, his hands are on you and he’s half on top of you as he captures your lips.
Needless to say, the lack of sleep is worth it.
+++
Emily, long after she and Aaron are the only ones left in the precinct conference room, squints as she notices something right under his collar.
He’s already loosened his tie and unbuttoned the top button of his dress shirt, no longer standing on ceremony now that all the local police have retired and the rest of the team gone up to their hotel rooms. There’s not much to do, but the compulsion to get ahead for tomorrow is one neither one of them can shake.
What Aaron failed to remember when executing his wardrobe adjustment was the rather...spirited romp in your room the night prior. The little purple swatches painted on his skin just under the line of his collar stood out stark against the crisp lines of his dress shirt.
Fortunately for you, there was no way in hell the rest of the team would find anything he left on you last night.
Emily reaches into her purse and pulls out a tube of concealer and a powder compact. Though he’s more olive-toned than she is, it’ll be good enough in a pinch. “Hey, Hotch.”
He looks at her over his nose, his eyes tired.
“You might want this for tomorrow morning.” She pushes the crisis control kit across the table to him, but he only frowns and deepens his squint.
By way of explanation, she reaches across the table and presses the tip of her finger into one of the visible bruises in the hollow of his throat. He flinches, freezes, and then immediately drops his head into his hands.
It’s easy to say Emily is amused in the extreme. “Those look...really fresh.”
He shakes his head, insisting as he picks up a file at random, “They’re from before we left.”
It’s only because it’s Emily that he’s even humoring this conversation.
“No they’re not.” She sticks her tongue firmly in her cheek. “These ones are though.” She points at yellowing marks on his collarbone and he smacks her hands away.
“And I know what fresh hickies look like, Hotch. Those are fresh fresh. Like, last night fresh. And we’ve been here for four days.” She frowns, tracking back through the day. “When on earth would you have time to -”
A series of images flash through her head, random wayward connections flashing together in an alarmingly clear picture.
You, avoiding her at the office back in September with quickly-covered marks painted across your neck.
You, flirting with Sean and having way too much fun doing it, looking over his shoulder at ...someone else.
Hotch, in a perpetually good mood (for him, anyway, and despite looking ill-slept) for the last five months.
The way the mistletoe kiss at Dave’s Christmas party looked way too easy, too familiar.
And now, the obvious indicators that Hotch is not only getting it, he’s getting it good.
If he got those last night…
Wait.
Their hotel rooms are right next to …
Oh my God.
Hotch watches the realization flash across Emily’s face, and he knows you’re both busted. Instead of losing her shit like he expected, Emily just leans back in her chair - smug.
“So. Are you still Not the Boyfriend, or has there been an update?”
He sighs.
The corner of her mouth tips up. “How long?”
“For which part? The not-boyfriend part, the boyfriend part, or this part?” He gestures vaguely to the space behind his tie, and Emily snorts.
“Just spill it.”
Holding up a finger, he pulls his phone out of his pocket, dialing the first number on his speed dial.
You’re hardly asleep, sitting up in bed waiting for him with a case file in your lap, when you get the call. You’re not sure who’s listening, so a “Hey, Hotch. What’s up?” will have to do.
“Emily knows.”
You straighten. “How?”
“Doesn’t matter. She knows.”
There’s a scramble, and suddenly Emily’s on the other end of the phone. “He’s got very questionable and very fresh bruises just under his collar. Care to explain?”
There’s another shuffle.
“Ignore her,” Aaron says. With a hand pressed to your forehead, you understand the question implicit in his phone call.
“Just tell her. It’s basically her fault, anyways. If she hadn’t ditched it then we’d have our heads up our asses for another five years.”
“Alright,” then, after a second of realizing you don’t sound sleepy at all, “Go to bed.”
“I’m in bed.”
He rolls his eyes. Emily can only look on with amusement, gleeful in the extreme. “You know that’s not what I mean. Go to sleep.”
“Alright, alright. Fine.” You reluctantly close the casefile and put him on speaker so he can hear the light click off. “I’m going to sleep.” Then, “I love you. Come up soon.”
“Okay.” He shoots a glance at Emily. Because he’ll never hear the end of it anyway, more ammo won’t hurt at this point. “I love you too. Now, really. Go to slee -”
You hang up on him. He double-takes at his phone for a moment before shoving it back in his pocket.
He’s met with Emily’s surprisingly moved eyes. “You’re...okay.”
What she means is, You’re happy.
He knows.
He nods. “I’m okay.”
She puts her files down and leans forward, resting her elbows on the table and lacing her fingers. “Tell me.”
So, he does.
He tells her about the way you stuck to him like glue through the divorce, the way you wiggled your way into Haley’s heart, captured the love of his son, and earned the trust of his entire family.
He tells her what Haley said in the hospital, the tenacious care you showed his unyielding and unwilling ass when he was healing, the way your grief soothed his in the wake of Haley’s loss.
He tells her about the moments of euphoria in the years of want and doubt and fear.
He tells Emily about the day she died, how there was nothing more painful than that necessary lie. He tells her how easy it was to lie to the others, how it ripped him in half to lie to you.
He tells her about the day he left for Pakistan, about the fight the night before, the kiss he pressed to your cheek on the tarmac, the endless, wretched nights missing you in the desert.
He tells her about the fight when he finally came home, skims over the following days, jumps and meanders around to Christmas, to moving in, to the bliss that now seems to follow him wherever he goes.
Emily watches the smile that plays at his mouth when he talks about you, the softness in his eyes as recalls the look on your face and the words you said and the way you are with Jack. There’s a kind of peace in him that she’s never really seen before.
Maybe, she imagines, it was there before she met him (the second time). Maybe this peace existed with Haley. Maybe this is the most she’s ever heard him speak at once. Maybe it makes her smile.
Maybe this peace is what his love looks like.
If that’s the case, she thinks, you are very lucky indeed.
It could have been hours, it could have been minutes, but at some point he stops talking.
“Hotch?”
He looks over at her, the softness lingering in his eyes.
“I’m really happy for you.”
His lips twitch. “Thanks.”
“And you know it’s my God-given right to tell everyone else once this case is over, right?”
+++
You actually are asleep by the time Aaron gets back to the hotel. He leans against the wall in the dark with his hands in his pockets, enjoying the peace before the inevitable shitshow.
He crosses the room and crouches at your side, running the back of his fingers over your cheek. You stir, sleepy noises leaving your throat as your eyes crack open.
“Aaron?”
“Yeah. Just me.”
You smile a little and close your eyes again. “How’d she take it?”
“Remarkably well.” He kisses your forehead. “Get some sleep. I’ll see you in the morning.”
“No,” you whine, drawn-out and slurred. “Don’t leave. Stay. I set an alarm.”
With a resigned sigh, he strips and slides into bed behind you, wrapping you in his arms and holding you close.
+++
You and Aaron sit on proverbial pins and needles for the rest of the case, but Emily keeps her word. The only indication of her knowledge came the morning after her chat with Aaron, when she pulled you to her and hugged you so tight you could hardly breathe.
She seizes her moment on the plane, about halfway home.
“Derek, you owe me fifty bucks.”
She hardly looks up from her book as she speaks.
He takes off his headphones and wrinkles his brow. “What?”
She repeats herself, slower, as if she was speaking to a child. “You. Owe. Me. Fifty. Bucks.”
“...Why?”
Emily finally looks up from her book to pointedly stare at you and Aaron, seated next to each other and sharing a bag of Goldfish you stole from Jack’s snack drawer. You’re both reading from the same file, absently reaching for crackers as you go along.
Derek’s confusion continues to smother his face until it finally clicks in.
He steals a page from Reid’s notebook and balls it up, tossing it across the plane and breaking your concentration. You look up, only a little startled, to find a face-splitting grin blinding you across the cabin.
Derek’s small ruckus has drawn the attention of the rest of the team - well, all except JJ, who’s fast asleep on the couch.
There seems to be a collective sigh of relief as money exchanges hands. You’re not quite sure what the bet was, but Emily seems to have won handily.
Aaron takes your hand under the table, waiting for the other shoe to drop.
It doesn’t.
Everyone simply returns to their tasks, little smiles on their faces.

hanging out with the team is easily the best part of the week. after spending days in Arizona with our focus entirely on the most recent case, my mind is practically ready to snap. I feel like I've been running on fumes, and when Penelope suggested we take the evening to hit our favorite bar, I was practically already out the door.
so now I'm sandwiched between JJ and Emily as we throw back our first shots of the night. my skin is already flushed with the elation of laughter, the pleasant thrum of conversation that surrounds us.
"that's bitter." JJ makes a face when she slams the empty glass on the table. I screw up my nose.
"why did we pick vodka?" I hate vodka.
"it gets the job done." Emily laughs. I shudder at the aftertaste that sits on my tongue.
Morgan wanders over, Pen on his arm while she totes a brightly colored pink alcohol. they're flirting as usual, but she pauses in her witticisms to grab my arm.
"we're playing truth or shot in that booth over there." she says to me, then gets the attention of the other two women. I let out a disbelieving laugh.
"truth or shot? like truth or dare but without the dare?"
"Reid, is that you?" Morgan says sarcastically. I slug him in the arm with a pout.
"be nice." but I'm giggling. he loops his arm through mine and we head back to the table, Penelope already starting a new conversation with JJ and Prentiss as they follow. Spencer is sitting in the booth with an Arnold Palmer, sipping from the straw like it's his job. I slide into the spot next to him.
"hi, you." I smile. "I haven't seen you at all tonight."
he holds up his glass. "I don't really drink."
"that's fine," I wave it off. "I just meant I wanted to hang out with you."
"oh." he smiles a little. "sorry."
"no big deal. you're here now." I shrug and turn to Pen as she calls my name.
"I'm gonna order a bottle. that okay?" she points to the bar with a mischievous smile. glancing once at Spencer and his slightly awkward position between Morgan and me, I make a snap decision.
"you know what? I think I'll just have a lemonade."
"you sure? Jayge said you spent the whole plane ride back talking about getting wasted--" Penelope's words cause a blush to spread over my face. I cut her off.
"I'm sure. thanks, Penny."
she nods. "of course, sweet cheeks."
I focus back on Reid, who is looking at me gratefully. he would never say it out loud, but I know he feels a little out-of-place sometimes. it's hard enough for him to come out with us to bars; the least I can do is be a sober friend. I open my mouth to start a conversation about an article I read the other day when Prentiss speaks.
"okay, so... who's ready?" her voice, always so certain, carries over the table. all of us make enthusiastic noises of assent, and she grins as Penelope returns with an armful of glasses. Derek gets up to grab the actual alcohol, and then when we're all settled in, the game begins.
"the rules are simple: you tell the truth, or you drink!" the tech analyst explains. the stakes for Spencer and me are lower, but that doesn't really matter. I'm excited to hear the team divulge their secrets.
"I'll start." Prentiss doesn't even hesitate before she looks at Morgan. "Derek, are you still sleeping with that one woman from sex crimes?"
Morgan raises his eyebrows at the question, irises flitting between Emily and the rim of his drink. there's a slight smirk on his face; he knows what a player he is and he's okay with flaunting it.
"Ally? no." he sighs. "things didn't end well between us."
"what? why?" I ask, eyes widening before I look around at everyone. "who is this woman?"
"cool your jets, sparky." Morgan teases me. "only one question per round."
"I'll tell you later." Prentiss raises her drink in my direction and winks.
"uh, no no." Morgan attempts to stop her, but JJ interrupts him.
"speaking of things not ending well," she says loudly. "Pen, why did you and Sam break up?"
"well," Penelope sticks her tongue between her teeth as she thinks it over with a devilish smile. her lips are a ruby red tonight, bright against her pale skin and big eyes. "to be completely honest, he just wasn't... doin' it for me. you know?"
"like--?" Emily glances down at her lap. Pen nods quickly and I snicker. JJ looks awestruck.
"I thought it was going so well."
"it was, but..." Penelope seems to genuinely think this over before she speaks. "if it's right, it just clicks. and it never clicked with Sam."
"profound." I compliment, high-fiving the high-energy blonde. we giggle before she turns to me with a glint in her eye.
"oh, do I have a plan for you," she smirks. "tell me, Y/N: if you had to sleep with one person on our team, who would it be?"
"women included?" I clarify, my cheeks suddenly on fire. how come everyone got easy questions except for me? I'm really just biding time.
"of course." she nudges my shoulder. I mull this over for a minute. I could say the truth, but I don't think that would be the right thing to do. however ironic that is. given the situation, I do something which I have never been good at and which I don't enjoy doing: I lie.
"although all of you are catches," I preface. "I think I would probably pick Emily."
Prentiss almost chokes on her own spit as her head snaps to see my face.
"me?" she asks.
"low-pressure fun." I shrug, the stress of the moment rolling off my shoulders with the ensuing laughter of my team members. Spencer takes a sip of his drink and peeks at me from his spot before I focus my attention to JJ.
we go on like this for a while, our original plan of "truth or drink" really just turning into a game of "truth and drink." as our laughter gets progressively louder, our questions and answers get progressively more provocative. we get into risky territory towards the fourth round, and I can practically feel Spencer's discomfort radiating off of him. thank god everyone has been taking it easier on him with their questions.
that is, until Morgan hits about five shots and decides to throw him to the wolves.
"so, Reid," he asks. there's no malice in his tone and I'm sure he's not meaning to embarrass the boy genius, but the question makes me wince anyways. "have we made any progress on the virginity front?"
it's like a fucking pall over the table. Reid goes rigid in his spot, and JJ's protective eyes dart between him and Morgan. Penelope's jaw drops.
"wait, Reid, you're a--?" her voice is tender, not judgmental, but Spencer's cheeks turn pink and he looks at Derek with a hurt expression.
"not cool." he says, body shifting in my direction. his eyes communicate everything; without a word, I know what he wants. I scoot out of the booth, letting him slip by me to walk outside.
truly, I'm speechless. we all stare at his lanky frame push through the door, but nobody talks until at least fifteen seconds pass.
"what the hell was that, Morgan?" JJ asks.
"I thought everyone knew--" he throws his hands up. "I swear I wouldn't have said anything if--"
"why would everyone know that?" I feel myself get angry for Spencer's sake. "that's an incredibly personal thing, especially to him."
"that wasn't you, my love." Penelope's voice is soft, sobered by the incident that just occurred. the playful air at the table is officially ruined, and we keep glancing at the doorway like Reid will come back in and everything will be fine. he doesn't.
"I'm gonna go apologize." Morgan starts to get up, seemingly beginning to realize the weight of his words. it's one thing to ask about Reid's sex life in general; it's another to point out specifically the entire absence of it. Spencer doesn't seem to be bothered by most things, but this is different. my heart hurts.
we watch Morgan go, the women all looking at each other with worried expressions.
"I feel bad." Penelope says.
"y'know, Spence never told me that." JJ observes.
"he really trusts Morgan." Prentiss says what we're all thinking. Morgan has always been like a big brother to him, and being embarrassed in front of your co-workers like that can't be a pleasant feeling.
we sit in a relative silence for about five minutes until Morgan walks back into the bar. he pulls out his wallet and pays for the drinks, then walks over to us.
"I'm gonna go for a walk. do you need me to call you all cabs?" he asks. those dramatic brows are drawn low over his face, emphasizing his regret. I look between my friends and clear my throat.
"it's okay. I only had one shot about an hour and a half ago. I can drive everyone home."
"okay," Morgan sighs, his head turning briefly to the door before focusing back on us. "drive safe, ladies."
and then he's gone.
"you guys ready?" I start to shrug my jacket on. they all nod and we get ready to go.
...
sitting in my apartment later that night, my head is swimming. even though it's none of my business what happens in Spencer's sex life, I wish I could tell him that it's okay. nobody cares at all if he's a virgin or not. but I know it's still embarrassing.
I hate that I lied earlier tonight, too. I wanted to say Spencer's name when they asked who I wanted, because I meant it. we're close, and I will always love him as a friend. but I've also always wanted more.
nobody, not even any of the other BAU women, know about my crush. I didn't want it to get in the way, or for it to come out and ruin my friendship with Reid. he doesn't like me like that, and that's fine, but what's not fine is not having him as my friend.
he was the first person I really connected with when I came here, and I feel a little protective over him, too.
once the clock hits eleven, I consider calling. he’s definitely not asleep yet. Spencer is a night owl. normally at this time he'd be curled up with a huge book, reading impossibly fast.
when he picks up on the third ring, the air leaves my lungs.
"Y/N?" he asks, more surprised than anything else.
"hey, Spence--" I hesitate, suddenly not sure what to say. sorry Morgan told everyone you're a fucking virgin? “do you wanna come over?"
maybe if I see him face-to-face, I'll be able to collect my thoughts better. the words hang in the air, festering over the line until I'm just about to take them back, before he replies.
"y-yeah. I'll be there in fifteen minutes."
my hands are shaking at my side when I open the door for the tall genius. he's still wearing his outfit from earlier, hair slicked back like normal. I've settled for my usual sweatpants and t-shirt winning combo. it's not like he cares.
"hey." I smile, trying to read his micro expressions. there are two possible outcomes here, knowing him: either he's going to be totally, completely over it, or he'll be able to write a War-and-Peace-length book on why he's upset.
"hi." he gives a wan smile and I let him into my apartment, closing the door behind him and gesturing to the couch.
"I missed this place." he says absently, looking around at the mess of decor and case files. I snort as I recall the last time he was here. he wanted to borrow a book that I had, and we ended up watching an entire docu-series about homing pigeons. it was surprisingly interesting; mostly because his commentary is both informative and funny.
"it missed you." I anthropomorphize my living space, but the phrase hangs heavy. I'm worried about him. I'm always worried about Spencer. he turns to look at me, opening his mouth to say something. I brush past him and walk into the kitchen. "coffee?"
"sure." he follows me like a lost puppy, leaning against the counter while I pull out two mugs and get to work.
"hey," I pause for a moment to look him in the eyes. "I just wanted to say that I'm sorry-- about what happened... tonight."
"oh, that?" he scoffs, waves it off unconvincingly. "it's fine."
I raise my brows the slightest bit, never breaking eye contact. he wouldn’t have come if he didn’t want to talk about it. he cracks easily.
"it's just embarrassing, you know?" he says, staring out my kitchen window to alleviate his own nerves. I gesture for him to follow me back into the living room and I sit down criss-cross applesauce on the couch. he mirrors me, kicking off those cute black Converse.
"I don't think the fact itself is embarrassing, but I totally get why it feels that way. he shouldn't have said anything." I nod.
"like, that's personal. a-and--" he hesitates a moment, gesticulating wildly now. "and it's not like he's got any right! at least I don't go around with so many girls that I forget their names."
the thought of Reid sleeping with that many women is a little bit funny, but it also makes my stomach twist with jealousy.
"did he apologize?"
"yeah, he did. and he was drunk, I know." he rolls his eyes. "I'm overreacting."
"no, really, you're not." without thinking, I scoot closer to him and place my hand over his, which is sitting on his knee. I remember that Spencer is usually pretty averse to touch, but when I move it back to my lap, he seems a little disappointed. I wonder if he gets lonely.
"is it weird?" the question sounds raw, like he's mustering a lot to hear my response. I shake my head immediately.
"well, for one, Spence, I would never judge anyone based on their sex life, period." I chuckle. "and two, no way! if you aren't into having sex at this point in your life-- or ever-- that's totally your choice and you're entitled to it."
his eyes meet mine, pools of honeyed hazel that swim with a slightly amber shade. his face is so pretty, it's sometimes unbelievable to me that he doesn't get more action. bone structure that would make a sculpture envious.
"that's the thing," he licks his lips nervously before averting his gaze again. "I am interested-- I just don't-- well, I don't--"
"don't have someone to do it with?" I suggest with a slight smile. he nods, then clarifies.
"girls don't really seem to be interested in me."
I let out a laugh, unable to contain myself. his head jerks up to frown in confusion. I’m quick to amend myself.
"Spence, that's not true at all. you're such a catch! you're sweet and funny and way smarter than anyone I know. not to mention that you're adorable." I compliment, letting some of the thoughts I've been keeping to myself bubble to the surface. "any girl would be beyond lucky to be with you, sexually or not." Spencer blushes at my words, but the squirming in his spot tells me that it makes him feel warm inside. he smiles a little.
"you think?" it's genuine. he appreciates being praised, and it makes my heart flutter when he gives me that expression like I've made his night.
"I know." more of what I want to say rolls around my mind, unsure of whether or not I should admit it. but I think that right now, it'll only serve to make him feel better. "actually, I should tell you something."
"what?" he's curious now.
"when we were at the bar and Penelope asked who I'd be with... on the team... I lied."
"okay." he nods, somehow not connecting the dots. I guess it doesn't matter if they've got enormous IQs; boys are still clueless.
"I was gonna say you." the truth presses from the inside out, lifting a weight off my chest now that it's out there. even if he doesn't return that feeling, I'm suddenly glad that I told him.
"me?" he gestures to his narrow chest. I nod.
"yeah. I didn't wanna make you uncomfortable or embarrass you in front of our friends." I explain. he breaks into a grin.
"thanks." like I've given him something. I feel myself smiling as well, and then we're just looking at each other. tension that neither of us is willing to break. as much as I'd like to take him right here right now, he hasn't said anything about actually having sex or even about being attracted to me. for all I know, he could be completely indifferent.
"listen, Spence--"
"would you be willing to--" we speak at the same time, both of us stopping and laughing awkwardly.
"sorry, you go first." I offer, and he pulls his bottom lip between his teeth.
"would you want to... um..." he scratches the back of his neck before his eyes meet mine. "try it?"
"sex?" I raise my eyebrows. he nods. I try to find the right response. that’s more assertive than I expected. my pulse is fast, daring me to tell the truth. "I mean-- yes, I would love to-- but are you sure you want it to be with me, Spence? what about a girl that you like?"
"you are a girl that I like." he says this like it's matter-of-fact, like it's obvious. my heart stops in my chest before it starts to hammer.
"really?" a smile makes its way onto my face.
"I thought you knew."
"no." I laugh. my chest is full of sunlight.
"well, you are."
there's a brief silence where I try to get myself back on track. he likes me, too.
"are you sure you want to do this?" I glance at the space between our bodies, which has grown steadily smaller over the course of our conversation. Spencer is watching my every move with an intensity that tells me he's nervous.
"yes." he's unwavering.
"okay, well, you've kissed girls, right?" I inch closer. he nods.
"one."
"oh, Spencer," I sigh contentedly. "I have so much to teach you."
right after I say this, Spencer shifts uncomfortably in his seat. it's only then that I notice his hand covering his lap, the erection that's forming beneath his pants. my eyes flick up to his hungrily.
"sorry." he apologizes.
"don't be." our faces are inches apart and he's practically holding his breath. "I'm gonna kiss you. is that okay?"
"yes." he replies immediately. I place my hands gently on the side of his face, admiring the softness and sharpness of his jaw when I pull him to me, kissing him with a suppressed desire. his mouth is soft against mine, a little anxious to move. after a moment, he starts to relax.
his lips part and I deepen our contact, tilting my head and keeping it mostly mild at first. I don't want to shove my tongue down his throat. our knees are touching and his hand hesitantly finds my waist, the other going to run through my hair. I sigh into him, his fingertips a new sensation that I adore.
Spencer begins to give in a bit more to himself, asserting himself in the kiss and slipping his tongue over my bottom lip. I almost laugh at how quickly he gets the hang of it. he reads my body language effortlessly, not even skipping a beat when I climb into his lap and lace my arms around his neck.
"is this okay?" I pull away momentarily. he nods.
"you're so pretty." an unrelated response, but appreciated nonetheless. I laugh and peck his nose.
"thanks." and then we're back to making out, his hands resting on the small of my back. it's nice. I could stay like this forever, just pressed against Spencer while my fingers thread through his soft hair. he's cautious with me, and it's innocent.
I can feel his boner, can feel from the eagerness of his kisses that he's trying not to bring up the fact that he's literally just throbbing in his pants right now. in order to give him a little of what he wants, I start to rock my hips against his.
Spencer whimpers into my mouth. I stop and look down at him.
"do you want me to stop?"
"no, god, no— never stop." he's mindless in his reply, already grabbing my hips greedily and trying to regain that friction. I shake my head with a chuckle, then resume my actions. he starts to rut up against me, groaning into our embrace while his hands get more adventurous.
I withdraw, breaking the kiss to straighten up. he doesn't stop the microscopic pushes of his hips. I bite back a smile, enjoying the friction, too.
"do you wanna take my clothes off, Spence?" I ask softly.
"y-yes." he replies, gingerly taking the hem of my top and beginning to lift it over my head. when he places it on the couch beside me, his eyes immediately fall to my bra. slender fingers run up my bare waist, his watch glinting in the candlelight. when he doesn't immediately reach to unclasp my bra, I grab his wrist and guide it to the clasps myself. he moves with a surprising ease, unsnapping the thing and grazing over my skin as he slides the straps down my shoulders. I can tell that he’s shaking a tad, but it doesn’t hinder him.
the second that he's discarded the lingerie, he looks up at me with moony eyes.
"can I... kiss you?" he looks at my bare chest. "here?"
"of course, Spence." I nod. he presses his lips to the space between my ribs, drags them up to the valley between my breasts. lingers, then attaches himself to one of my nipples. I sigh, throwing my head back at the way he moves intuitively, sucking and running his tongue over the peak. he squeezes the other breast, plays with the nipple and starts to acquaint himself with the curves of my body.
the whole time, he's straining against my core, rutting helplessly in pleasure. it feels heavenly, with that sweet face of his so devoted to making me feel good, that I nearly stray from the purpose of the experience.
"Spencer..." I breathe. he moans at the sound of his name, then looks up at me from his place sucking on my tits. his teeth graze of my skin and I buck into his lap, causing him to groan appreciatively. my fingers tangle in his soft hair.
"Y/N," he pulls away from my chest, his lips making a soft popping sound. I gaze down at him, a bit lost in the fantasies running through my head. he's a natural. "can we, um-- like, expedite this process a little?"
"expedite the process?” I repeat back to him, giggling at his formality.
"what?" his voice goes up an octave, but he's smiling. "you know what I mean."
"I really do." I lean down, pressing my thumb into his jaw and angling his face up to mine to kiss. while his hands curiously move over my body, I start to push down the waistband of my sweatpants. I break contact just for a moment to peel them off, and he releases a quiet whine. it's cute.
"come back." he says softly, watching as I slide the bottoms down my legs, leaving me in my panties.
"I'm back." I peck his cheek, climb into his lap again. "can we take off your clothes, too?"
"mhmm." he nods. his lips part when my fingers work at the buttons of his shirt, undoing them with a torturous slowness. I can feel his eyes on my face the whole time.
"what?" I chuckle, peeking up at him for a moment before I pull his shirt open and run my palms up his chest, over his shoulders. he nearly shudders at the sheer touch.
"I just can't believe this is actually happening." he smiles in that way of his, like he's suppressing the depth of his emotions, with his brows slightly raised. I take the opportunity to enjoy the sight of him before me, his rapidly rising and falling chest, the smoothness of his skin.
"honestly?" I start to unbutton his pants, and he jerks up into my hand, blushing once he realizes the earnestness of his actions. I smirk encouragingly. "me, neither."
before I pull down his boxers, my eyes flick to his. "is this still okay?"
"Y/N," he groans. "if you don't do something, I'm gonna cum too early." he squeezes his eyes shut for a moment when my hand moves over his clothed erection, like he's holding on. "please."
"sorry." I release him from the confines. it hits his stomach and he waits for my reaction, as if he's afraid that I'll change my mind right now. but I'm definitely not going to. "holy fuck, Spencer."
"what?" he panics slightly, sitting up more. "is it not enough?"
"not enou--" I stutter, almost laugh. "no, it's plenty. I had no idea..."
"oh." he hides the pleased smile on his face, blush spreading over his pretty throat. in the interest of "expediting the process," I wrap my hand around the base of his cock and gently pump him.
Spencer's stomach tenses and he grabs onto the cushion of the couch with a tight fist, sighing.
"mmm..." he doesn't try to word his emotions, but I know. and I like that I'm making him feel this way, sharing this experience. Spencer and I are such close friends, I never thought we'd actually have sex. my assumption was that I'd watch him grow into himself, find a nice girl and treat her like a queen.
but here I am, spitting into my hand before jerking him off to prepare for what’s next. he’s throbbing, sounds coming from his throat.
"I'm gonna sit on it, okay?" I lean down to whisper in his ear. he touches my waist, my neck, kisses a random spot on my chest in the waves of pleasure that I'm giving him.
"o-okay." he mumbles, waiting for me to actually do it. and there's a moment of tense anticipation between both of us, when I sit up and pull my panties to the side. Spencer watches like I'm the only thing in the world, saving the memory of my body on top of his for later.
I run the head of his cock along my entrance, soaking him in the wetness between my thighs. I didn't realize how turned on I'd already gotten, and he lets out a quiet whine when he feels the evidence of how much I want him.
our eyes lock when I sink down. it's a new feeling for him, and the shape of his member as it stretches my walls causes me to bite my lip to withhold moaning too loudly. he whimpers, neck tensing and fingertips digging into my hips.
"o-oh." he sucks in a breath as I reach the halfway point. he's so big, I have to go slow in order not to overwhelm myself. but it feels good, too. like... unbelievably good. I grip onto his shoulders and my head falls forward into his shoulder.
"Spencer, holy shit." I moan.
"does it feel nice?" he asks, concerned for my own pleasure. I feel my chest flutter at the thoughtfulness of the boy wonder even when he's in the midst of losing his virginity, and I lower myself onto the rest of him.
"mhmm," I rest for a moment. "how do you feel?"
"like--" his breath hitches when I begin to rock back and forth on him. "like I've been missing out."
I can't help the giggle that slips past my lips, but then it quickly turns into a longing moan when he starts to thrust up into me like a helpless thing. Spencer is brilliant, but his brain cells go out the window when he throws his head back and begs me to move more.
I nod, raising and lowering myself until we reach a special pace. it's not fast or slow, just the two of us trying to stay in the moment while we hold on tightly to each other. I can feel the cool metal of his watch when he splays his hand out over my spine, the warmth of his breath while he pants against my shoulder.
he hits my g-spot over and over. my moans are torn from my throat by the burning of my lungs. it's like I can't breathe because I'm so focused on chasing the orgasm building in my stomach. and Spencer... I can tell he's almost finished.
the erratic nature of his jerking body tells me.
"I'm gonna cum..." he moans into my neck. "do- do you want me to pull out?"
"no." I arch my back and throw myself into the friction of our bodies. he stares up at me while I ride him, the merciless grinding of my hips because I just can't help myself. "oh my god, Spencer."
he notices how close I am and, in a surprisingly deft move, slides two fingers over my pussy to find my clit. the ensuing noise from me tells him that he's found it, and he begins to rub in quick circles. it's rough and hard, but that's exactly what I need right now.
"cum for me, Spence." I breathe. his free hand grips onto my thigh and pulls me over him, his own words unintelligible within the sounds of absolute pleasure.
"please." he begs for something I don't know, spills his seed inside of my pussy and holds onto me like I'm an anchor to this world while he peers into the next. the feeling of him spreading through my stomach, along with the reckless movements of his limbs and the way he looks at me while he rides out his orgasm, sends me over the edge.
"oh my fuck!" I collapse, grabbing his shoulders tightly and rolling myself down while he removes his fingers from my body. it's jarring, the intensity, like my normal functions can't respond correctly. all I can process is the tightening of my stomach, the pleasure between my legs, vision going slightly fuzzy at the edges. he moans when my cunt flutters around him, the muscles trying desperately to hold him here with me forever. I take deep breaths and slow down, my forehead dropping again while I start to remember my own name.
neither of us speaks. I think I'm still too in shock about what just happened, but in the best way. he keeps running his hands over my skin, then wraps his arms around my torso so that I'm pulled against his chest. I smile, kissing his ear before I finally break the silence.
"hi."
"hi." he's got a satisfied tone.
"do you need anything? water?" I ask, exhausted but realizing that this is still new for Spencer and it's my job to make sure he's as comfortable as possible. he nuzzles his nose into my clavicle and squeezes me tighter.
"stay here with me." there's a slight edge to his words. he's afraid of me leaving. I snuggle down, perfectly happy to remain. heat radiates from his skin, and I like the way it feels.
"of course."
we linger in each other’s arms, both of us coming back into the real world and holding on in an attempt to soften the blow. I just had sex with Spencer.
"thank you." he whispers into my hair.
"for what?" the smile on my face is lazy.
"for doing this."
"well, I really wanted to." I laugh. "so, I guess, thank you, too."
"you're quite welcome." his response is cheerful and then we're both laughing, the sound rumbling from his chest. "can we do it again at some point?"
"I would be happy to." I beam. the contented sigh that leaves his lips, followed by a slight sinking of our bodies down the couch in collective exhaustion, fills me with a joy that's quiet but obvious.
“I’ll last longer next time, I promise.” he says. I can practically hear the blush in his cheeks.
“you did amazing, Spence. don’t worry about it.” I press a few stray kisses to him.
I'll need to go clean up, soon, but it can wait a few more minutes. this is my favorite place on earth.

The Moment I Knew My Future Was Sweet
Spencer was completely lost looking for purple and white birthday party decorations. He’d searched at least three different stores for Y/N’s favorite shade of purple. Penelope had been helping him plan her surprise birthday party and it was Spencer’s job to get the decorations.
“Hey! Reid, look what I found,” Penelope shouted as she ran up the aisle to meet Spencer.
She was carrying what looked like colorful cardboard picture frames that had “Birthday Girl” and all sorts of Happy Birthday messages and funny sayings written on the edge.
“Don’t you think Y/N will just love these?” Garcia asked as she tossed them in the cart.
“Oh, I’m not really sure what those are but, I’m sure she’ll love it!” Spencer said.
“It’s for taking pictures,” Garcia explained. “You hold them up to your face and take cute photos”
Spencer nodded in understanding. Y/N loved to take pictures and even though Spencer would rather not be photographed, their smiling faces littered her Instagram page.
“Thanks for helping with this, Garcia. I really just want to make this special for her. Y/N is just so amazing,” Spencer stopped himself because out of the corner of his eye he noticed Penelope’s raised eyebrows. His cheeks turned slightly pink at her reaction.
“Come on, Spencer! You should just tell her that you love her,” Garcia said waving her hands in the air.
“She has a boyfriend, Garcia,” Spencer snapped.
“I know, but Spencer, who's the guy that’s planning her surprise party? Who’s the man that’s in every single selfie that she posts Instagram? Who’s the team member that she always rooms with?”
“Garcia, she’s with Ian. I’m not going to ruin our friendship by telling that I love her. She’s with Ian and I’m not a home wrecker”
“You just both deserve to be happy, Spencer. She loves you. I just know she does,” Garcia and Spencer walked over to the cashier to pay for the decoration.
“If she’s happy, then I can live with it. Even if it feels like it’s breaking me” Spencer said at the constant beeping from the register rung in his ears.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“JJ, is that the food?” Garica called as she walked out of the kitchen into the small living room.
“Yes, Will’s coming in with the rest of the food from the car. Any word from Spence yet on where he and the birthday girl are?” JJ said as she placed down a tray of food onto the kitchen counter top.
“Spencer mentioned that he’s going to drive her over here. He should be getting there soon. She’s got no idea!” Garcia said excitedly.
“That’s sweet. What did Ian think of that?” JJ asked with a questioning tone.
Garcia threw her a look that caused JJ to raise her eyebrows.
“Spencer and Y/N are in love with each other. She won’t do anything because she feels like she’s with the kind of person that she deserves. Y/N is stuck in a loveless relationship because Spencer doesn’t think that she loves him. They love each other, Jayge,” Garcia said.
“And you aren’t the profiler,” JJ teased.
“I spend my days and nights with you all, it’s time that I picked up on all that profiler nonsense.” Garcia said, swatting JJ on the arm playfully.
“That or my obsession with period dramas. Jayge, the pinning is so strong with those too.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spencer knocked on the door to Y/N apartment at 11:32 AM. The time was important because he calculated that it would take her 45 seconds to walk from her couch, look through the peephole, unlock the door and open the door. In those 45 seconds, it would turn 11:33 AM, which was the time that Y/N was born.
Sure enough, the door opened and Spencer was greeted by a smiling Y/N.
“Happy Birthday, Y/N. Happy Birthday!” Spencer yelled from across the doorway.
“Oh my god! Spencer, how, I can’t,” Y/N said looking quite startled.
Launching herself from the inside of her apartment, Y/N threw her arms around Spencer’s neck. He seemed to forget himself and allowed himself to enjoy the feeling of her in his arms. Even though he was the one holding her, he never felt as safe as he did then in that moment.
“Thank you, Spencer. And you even came at the time I was born! Ah, what do I do to deserve you, Spencer. You’re-” Y/N starts.
“Hey, none of that. It’s your day. Your birthday, Y/N. Oh, I got you flowers. Um, but I think that we may have crushed them” Spencer said sheepishly.
Y/N looked at the purple and yellow flowers that Spencer held in her hand, along with a small package with purple wrapping and green ivy decorations.
“Oh, come inside, Spence and I’ll put those in water,” Y/N said, leading him in by the hand.
They walked into her kitchen and she reached to the third shelf of the cabinet and grabbed a vase. Spencer watched as she filled it with water and crushed up a baby aspirin to dissolve in the water. Y/N fluffed out the semi-crushed flowers with a small smile plastered to her face. She looked up at Spencer, who was a little embarrassed to be caught staring at her.
“I love them, Spencer. They are so beautiful,” Y/N said walking over to tug slightly on his jacket sleeve.
“I’m glad. Have you heard from your parents, or uh,” Spencer stops for a second, calculating if he should go down that road, “or Ian?”
“My mom called me, but no, I haven’t heard from Ian. He’s never been big on birthdays or holidays anyway, you know. He’s relaxed like that, I guess” Y/N reasons, more with herself than with Spencer, who just stares at her trying to figure out why in the world her boyfriend would not be here spending her birthday with her.
“Well, we have the whole day to ourselves, Y/N! We can go get brunch or take a walk in the park, anything you want to do, we’ll do it!” Spencer said, smiling at her.
“There’s any other way that I’d want to spend my birthday, than with you, Spencer.”
There it was again. A palatable tension in the air between the two of them. It wasn’t awkward, necessarily, just so apparent and thick that it could not possibly be ignored.
“I have something else for you,” Spencer started as he grabbed the package from the counter and handed it Y/N.
“Oh, Spence! You didn’t have to do that” Y/N said with an excited look on her face.
She opened the carefully wrapped package and tossed the paper on the flood with an eager grin on her face. Inside the small white box was a gold ring with intricately woven vines attached to a delicate chain link necklace. Y/N ran her fingers over the ring and necklace, almost like she couldn’t believe that it was real.
“Spence,” She started, but a small tear pooled in the corner of her eye and she tried to wipe it away with the hem of her cardigan.
“You really didn’t have to do this, I can’t even think of how you found this. It’s exactly like her’s! Oh, Spencer” Y/N said reaching forward to clasp her hands with his.
“Will you put it on for me,” She asked him, pulling her hair from her neck and moving closer to Spencer.
Spencer grabbed the necklace, a replica of her grandmother’s engagement ring, and tenderly latched the clasp. She felt her heart flutter slightly with the sensation of Spencer’s warm breath against her neck. His fingers burned against her skin as he moved her hair back from her shoulder to it’s familiar spot.
Spencer was very aware of the fact that if she’d lean back, her head would rest perfectly in the cook between his chin and neck. He’d feel her soft hair under his skin and be able to hold her close and safe. She moved much sooner than he’d like and faced him once again.
Y/N closed her eyes, just taking in the quiet moment between them. Spencer wished that he could reach out and put his hand to Y/N’s cheek. Maybe she’d melt into his touch. They could play pretend that, for even a moment that they aren’t just best friends, but maybe this is her engagement ring. It’s enough for him, for now at least. They just sit in silence, but he aches to rub thumb along her knuckles. Still, neither of them need to speak, the unsaid words are poetry in itself.
“Thank you, Spencer. This is so beautiful, I can’t even imagine the trouble it might have caused you.” You're worth it, Y/N, he wants to scream. You’re so worth it.
But instead, he just settles on giving her a small smile. Spencer will forever have to contend with his silence. He’ll resign himself to standing by her side and watching as she loves another man.
“Let’s go, Y/N starving”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I can’t believe I fought my wallet, Y/N! I’m so sorry that we have to go all the way back to my place,” Spencer feigned an apology and shot Y/N a side glance as he sped down the road towards his apartment.
“It’s okay, Spencer. You know that I wouldn’t mind paying for brunch, it’s not a big deal that-”
“No way, am I letting you buy brunch on your birthday, Y/N” Spencer said putting on the blinker as he pulled into his parking spot.
“Is that JJ’s car, Spence?” Y/N said as Spencer walked around to her side of the car to open the door for her.
“Yeah, her and the boys park here sometimes to go to the park down the street. Henry loves to feed the ducks,” Spencer said, not making eye contact with her.
“Look at me Spencer,” She said, reaching out to grab his sleeve. He kind of wished that her cold hand would slip into his and he’d be able to walk into her party in front of everyone she loves, holding his hand.
“Are you lying to me?” Y/N remarked playfully.
It took everything in Spencer’s being to look her straight in the eyes and tell her that he’s not lying. Especially when she’s looking in his eyes with that look on her face that just makes him want to scream that he loves her.
“Ha! Y/N, I’m completely offended that you’d suggest that I’m lying to you,” Spencer said as he walked up the stairs to his apartment.
“Hmm, I’m going to hold you to that, Mister”
“It’s Doctor for you, Y/N. Why don’t you just open the door?” Spencer said, handing her the keys to his apartment.
She gave him a suspicious look before she turned the key into the lock and stepped into Spencer’s apartment.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” Penelope jumped out from her hiding spot behind Spencer’s sofa.
The rest of the guests all chorused many Happy Birthdays as Y/N looked around in shock. Derek and Emily stood up to give her a hug, as JJ and Will stood holding balloons with Henry and Michael.
“Oh my god! You guys! I can’t believe you all,” Y/N said jumping up to hug a beaming Penelope.
“It was all Spencer’s idea, Y/N” JJ mentioned giving her friend a big hug and a kiss on her cheek.
“Spence,” Y/N started as she looked up at her friend.
“You really didn’t have to do that! Thank you,” She finished almost shly.
“I wanted you to have the best birthday, Y/N. We’ve all had a rough year, you deserve it,” Spencer said to her. It was almost like they were the only two people in the room, he thinks. It’s like that a lot, whenever he’s in a room with Y/N. They can be in a pack stadium with screaming people, but the only person he’d be able to hear is her. The only person he’d want to pay attention is her.
“I know you don’t like hugs, Spence, but it’s my birthday and I don’t care!” She said launching herself into Spencer’s already open arms.
The pair hugged and Spencer forgot himself for a moment. He grabbed her by the waist and spun her around the room as she laughed.
“Spencer!” She giggled. He put her down and looked at her smiling face.
“Thank you,” She said quietly, just to him.
“Of course, Y/N” He told her. Anything to make you laugh like that. Anything to allow me to hold you like that. Anything to make you happy.
He might have stared too long, because Derek camed and clapped him on the shoulder. It was a reminder that they were not the only people in the room.
“I’m going to go say hi to everyone,” she said before she left.
Spencer watched her leave and gave a longing stare in her wake. He felt Derek’s eyes on his face and couldn’t even bear to look him in the eyes. Besides Y/N, Derek knew Spencer more than most people. He’d be able to read his face, his feelings, and his love for Y/N in a moment. And that terrified Spencer.
“Penelope told me, you know.” Derek said, handing Spencer a mimosa.
“Hmm, did she know?” Spencer replied tight-lipped. He glanced over to where Y/N had walked over to, but he only saw Emily and Penelope talking with flutes in their hands.
“Also, Reid. That necklace she’s got on?” Derek questioned with a cocked eyebrow.
“Yeah. I got it for her. For her birthday. It’s a replica of her grandmother’s engagement ring” Spencer confessed.
Derek looked at Spencer in disbelief. He was in denial. They both were.
“You got a girl who’s got a boyfriend an engagement ring for her birthday?” Derek asked factiously.
“It’s a birthday present for my friend, Morgan.” Spencer said, taking a big gulp of his mimosa. The acid from the orange juice was unusually sour down his throat.
“Friends don’t get friends engagement rings, Reid.” Derek said before he left Spencer to ponder over this predicament.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Why don’t you let me or Derek call him, sweetie. I’m sure he just got stuck somewhere. Let me call him for you, please Y/N?” Penelope said calmly as she rubbed both of Y/N’s arms lovingly.
“Penny, he’s not going to come! He missed this on purpose. I’m so done with him-” Y/N said between sobs. Between the champagne and jello shots, she was not drunk but happily buzzed, that quickly turned into an emotional buzz.
“What do you want me to do, honey. Tell me and I’ll make it happen, okay. I’m so sorry, Y/N” Penelope told her, handing her a paper towel to wipe her tears.
“I just want to go home,” She cried.
“Will you get Spencer to take me home, he-” She got out before her shoulders were overtaken by sobs.
“He drove me here. And he won’t mind leaving, he hates parties. We were planning a sleepover anyway,” Y/N turning to hug Penelope.
“Hey, you don’t need that jerk anyway, Y/N,” Penelope said “I’m going to tell Spencer now, okay honey, I’ll be right back”
Y/N stared at the drink in her hand thinking about what should have happened. The pain of the moment was too pungent, so she settled on taking a swig of the rest of her drink. Those problems can wait till tomorrow, she thought.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Spencer! Reid, I need you over here,” Penelope called over to Spencer, who was entertaining the boys with a magic trick, much to their enjoyment.
“It’s Y/N. She’s heartbroken that Ian never showed up” Penelope said, filling Spencer in.
“That asshole!” Spencer whisper-yelled as Garcia led him to the kitchen.
“She just wants you to take her home,” Garcia said as they made their way to where Y/N was perched on the countertop.
“Y/N, I’m so sorry, he doesn’t deserve you. You know that right?” Spencer said looking at her teary face and glazed eyes. She didn’t look like herself. She looked faraway and sad; he’d do anything to make her feel better.
“I just want to go home, Spencer, please. Just take me home,” Y/N said with fresh tears falling down her cheeks.
“Come on, Y/N” He said holding her hand as they walked out the door, down the stairs and into his car.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Neither of them talked on the way home. Y/N looked out the window, just staring at the passerby in an almost wishlike state.
Spencer split his attention evenly to the road ahead and Y/N sitting next to him. Her head rested against the window and her feet were tucked under her legs in a crouched position. It was like she was trying to make herself look as small as she was feeling.
“We’re here, Y/N,” Spencer said softly.
“We’re home, Spence?” She asked, not even wanting to open her eyes yet.
“We’re home, Y/N.” He answered, putting a comfortable hand on her shoulder.
They walked upstairs to her apartment on the third floor just as quiet as their car ride was. She opened the door of her apartment and walked right into her bedroom.
“I’m just going to get changed, Spence” She said before shutting the door and shutting him out of her thoughts for a moment.
Not really sure what to do, Spencer sat on the couch. Was it really just a couple of hours ago that they sat here together? All of the sudden, Spencer heard what sounded like music coming from her bedroom. Spencer recognized that he wasn’t the best at modern popular culture, but Y/N choosing to play music at a time like this caught his profiler instincts.
And what’s a profiler without a genius tech expert, he thought as he dialed Garcia. Spencer placed his ear to the door and started to hear Y/N sob-ridden voice mix with an artist who he did not recognize.
“Garcia,” Spencer whispered.
“Oh Spencer! How is she doing,” Garcia asked. Spencer imagined that the whole party stood huddled in his cramped kitchen listening to every word.
“Ah, she’s singing?” Spencer said with a questioning tone.
“Oh, boy. Hold the phone so I can hear please, this is very important Reid,” Garcia ordered.
Spencer placed his flip phone so it’s speaker would pick up the sad notes echoing from the bedroom.
“Did you get that?” Spencer asked, returning the phone to his ear.
“She’s listening to her ‘cry her eyes out playlist’. This song is about a girl who’s boyfriend skipped out on her birthday party, so it’s hitting home right now, Spencer” Garcia explained.
“That’s a little on the nose, don’t you think?” Spencer asked.
“That’s the beauty of Taylor Swift, my dear. She’s got a song for every emotion. So maybe you can convince her to listen to her “this makes me believe in love” playlist. And maybe you can tell her how you feel, you know that you love her? That has Taylor Swift written all over it G-man,” Garcia finishes.
“We’ll see about it, Penelope,” Spencer said, trying to figure out a plan to make Y/N feel better. He hung up on his friend and put his ear back at the door.
Spencer felt a little bit uncomfortable pressing his ear up to the door. It was like he was invading a very private moment. As he strained to hear the song playing in the bedroom, Spencer’s legs  were rubbed against by a fluffy orange Maine Coon.
“Hey Mabel,” He said crouching down to pet the cat. “Our girl is really sad right now. You always make her feel better though, right May?” He said. Spencer thought that he really must be losing it if he’s having a conversation with her cat.
Suddenly, the music stopped and Spencer quieted himself to be able to hear what Y/N was doing behind the door. He heard her voice, maybe she was talking to her sister or Penelope. Spencer’s heart twinged with sadness that he wasn’t the one she went to when her heart was broken.
“Hey, Ian. We need to talk,” Her voice was muffled between the door. Spencer’s breath was coming heavier with the realization that she was talking with Ian. Ian her boyfriend.
He was not able to hear the other side of the conversation, not that he really cared what Ian said to defend himself. Spencer tried to make due by listening to Y/N’s quiet voice.
“Ian, you really hurt me-” She said, her voice getting high. Spencer knew that was a sign of Y/N getting ready to cry.
“No, you are going to listen to me. Then I am going to hang up and I’m going to toss all of your shit that you leave in my apartment in the trash!” she yelled on the phone.
“You really hurt me by not coming to my party, Ian. But what I realized, sitting here, that I don’t need you anymore. I feel like I’ve given this relationship everything I had. And you don’t even give me the time of day! Spencer was here for me today. He planned this! He was the one who want to make my day special and I love-”
Spencer, who was listening intently to the conversation behind the door, ran as far away from the door as he could. He did not just hear what he did, he tried to tell himself. She does not mean it. Ian will probably call her in the morning and she’ll forgive him. There’s no way that she means that she means that. The silence coming from her bedroom is only broken by her quiet sobs. Spencer was counting the seconds before he could barge into the bedroom and tell her that everything is going to be okay. If he was more like Derek, he’d open up that door and just hold her and tell her how much he loves her. But Spencer Reid is not like Derek Morgan, much to his disappointment.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Y/N sat on the carpeted floor of her bedroom, mopping up her leaky eyes with an old t-shirt. The initial heartbreak from Ian not coming to her party was gone. It was a strange feeling, she almost felt light. Like breathing was a little easier or the world was a little clearer. The thing was, that if she thought about it, she really did not even miss him from her party. Spencer was the one who planned this, she thought. He was the one who gave her a thoughtful gift. He was the one she went to when she needed to go home. Spencer was the one.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spencer was broken from his internal thoughts when the door cracked open. Y/N eyes were puffy and red from crying. She made a motion to Spencer to come into her bedroom with her. Y/N led him over to the balcony window seat that overlooked the city street. It was still early in the evening, so the street was busy with passerby, bikers, and shoppers.
Spencer sat down tentatively next to Y/N, who made a movement to grab his hand. She intertwined her fingers with his and Spencer could not help but think of how warm her hands were in his cold ones. Or how her light blue nail polish reflected light.
“Spencer,” She said nervously. Y/N looked up at him with a shy look on her face.
“Do you love me, Spencer,” She asked him, looking him dead in the eyes.
“Of course I love you, Y/N. I love all of you guys. Penelope, Derek, JJ, Emily-” he said, regretting his answer almost immediately due to the look on her face.
“No, Spencer. I mean do you love me?” she asked, daring to make eye contact with him.
“I have loved you for years, Y/N.” Spencer answered. He lowered his gaze, fearful that maybe she would reject him, fearful that she’d think him loving her is a ridiculous notion, fearful that she’d realize that he’d never be the one for her.
“Spencer, you mean so much to me. And I think that today-” She started, putting her hand to his cheek in an affectionate manner.
“I think that today, I learned that you are always a constant in my life, you are always the person that I want to hold me when I cry. You are always the one who I want to make laugh. Spencer you are the one for me.” She professed.
Spencer sat there looking dumbfounded. Part of him wanted to believe her, believe that she could possibly love him like he loves her.
“I love you, Spencer. More than you can ever imagine.” She told him, dancing her fingers down his incredibly sharp jaw and down his neck.
Spencer, who seemed to come back to Earth, fixed Y/N’s necklace. He looked back at her, like it was the first time that he was actually seeing her.
Tucking a stray piece of hair behind her ear, Spencer kissed her forehead saying “when I look at you, Y/N, I see something that I never really thought I’d ever get. I see a future, a happy one. I love you so much, Y/N and-”
Spencer’s confession was cut off suddenly by a pair of soft lips pressing up to his. His shock wore off quickly as Y/N kissed the corners of his mouth, up his cheekbones, and all the way to his eyelids. Her overzealous affection caused Spencer to belt out a high pitched laugh. Kissing her tasted like the future. And the future had never tasted so sweet.

note: hey? i’m back! with another fic! after like four months! woo. i’m also almost at 400 followers which is pretty wild so cool cool. this is absolutely unedited and i’ve been working on it for literally ever, but i doubt you expected more from me anyways (the plot is also kind of sketch) anywayss, here it is my loves!
~~~oOo~~~
“JJ!” you yell, crossing the bullpen quickly. She turns to face you and smiles widely, throwing her arms open.
“Y/n!” she calls as you fall into her arms. “Oh my god, it’s so good to see you! What are you doing here?”
“My team’s going to be working with your team for the next couple of cases!” As the communications liaison for Operations Support Branch (OSB), you and JJ used to collaborate often, until she was transferred and changed positions. You and her don’t get to see each other half as often as you want, but sometimes you bring your daughter, Haley, to spend time with Henry.
“Wait, really? Why weren’t we alerted?” she asks. Behind her, a tall man with dark hair steps towards you, and you already know who he is. SSA Aaron Hotchner.
“Because the decision was just made this morning,” he says. He offers his hand and you shake it. “I’m SSA Aaron Hotchner.”
“We all call him Hotch,” JJ adds quickly.
“Y/n Y/l/n,” you say to him. “I’m the communications liaison for the OSB. I’m the only one here right now, my team is heading up as we speak.” You turn to the elevator, where your boss, Sam Holmestead, is standing, talking to Derek Morgan, someone JJ had introduced you to. “Holmes is over there.”
“Great,” Hotch says, “excuse me.” He nods at you and begins his way over to your boss, and you watch the entire way.
“Ooh,” JJ sings, giving you a friendly laugh.
“Oh, shut up,” you say, but you’re laughing too. “Now, I heard there’s a case.”
She nods. “Come up to the conference room, we’ll introduce your team to my team and give you all of the details.”
In the room, you, Holmes, and the two others from your team that were joining you— Gary Long and John Wilson— stand at the back, while the BAU all gathered in their seats.
“These four are from the OSB,” Hotch says. “Strauss wants our team to collaborate with some members of the OSB on the next few cases, so they’ll be travelling with us,” Hotch says. “JJ, want to make introductions?”
She nods, then says, “Sam Holmestead leads the team, and this is Y/n Y/l/n, Gary Long, and John Wilson.” She turns to her team, then, and says, “This is Derek Morgan, Emily Prentiss, Spencer Reid, Penelope Garcia, and David Rossi.”
Greetings are exchanged, and then it’s back to business. “Two young women were kidnapped and then killed in Tallahassee, Florida,” Garcia says. “Each one was taken from a parking lot, then held captive for a week, and then killed. A week after the first girl was killed, the second one went missing. She was found dead yesterday. Other than their throats being slashed, they were otherwise unharmed.”
You blink down at the pictures. You’ve seen things before, awful things, but this was just… so much worse. You feel better about your squeamishness when you look over and see that Wilson is as white as a ghost.
“So, what does this guy get from the kill?” Morgan says, one elbow on the table.
“It’s rather clean, as far as murder goes,” Prentiss quips. “No stabbing, no bruising. Even the cut is clean.”
“How long did it take her to die? This could be seen as merciful,” you say, glancing at Holmes, who nods at you.
“I’m guessing just a few seconds,” Reid said, looking through his file and finding the coroner’s report, then nodding and glancing up at you.
“Garcia, do these girls have anything in common?” Hotch asks, and your attention goes straight to him (because he’s talking, and you’re polite, obviously).
“They both attended Florida state and now work in insurance. Different companies,” Garcia says.
Hotch nods at her, then says, “Wheels up in 30.”
~~~oOo~~~
The jet is larger than you expected. And nicer, too. You take a seat between JJ and Morgan, and see Garcia on Skype on the table. The rest of the group files in, and you begin discussing the case.
“So, what’s this guy's deal? What’s he doing with these girls for a week?” Morgan says.
“There aren’t signs that they’re tied up, or that he blitz-attacked them,” Prentiss adds.
“Maybe he kept them locked in a sort of cellar. He wouldn’t need to tie them up.”
“Did he drug them?” Holmes asks. Reid looks over the report, then nods.
“Actually, yes, both girls had methylenedioxymethamphetamine and methamphetamine in their system,” Reid says.
“MDMA and meth?” JJ says, crossing her arms.
“Wilson, you still have contacts in Florida, right? See who’s dealing both of those these days,” Holmes says, and Wilson nods, pulling out his phone.
“MDMA is really hard to get a hold of,” Wilson says, “I’m sure it’s easier in Florida, but still, this guy has to have some way of getting money in. Lots of it.”
“Okay, so how does he insure he doesn’t hurt them with the drugs?” Prentiss says.
“And what purpose does it serve? What fantasy is he living out?” Rossi adds.
The plane hits a bit of turbulence, and your stomach flips. “Is that normal?” you whisper, and JJ laughs, nodding.
“You’ll get used to it,” Morgan says. You nod and give a short laugh.
“The likelihood of being in a plane crash is about one to 5.4 million,” Reid says, “and even so, it’s improbable that turbulence will cause a crash. Even commercial airlines are built to withstand forces 1.5 times stronger than anything experienced in the past—”
“Reid,” Hotch says sternly, but softly, “focus, please.”
“I didn’t know the BAU made cyborgs,” you say, squinting your eyes at Reid.
Prentiss nods at you, throwing her arms up. “That’s what I’ve been saying! Someone finally understands.”
“Sorry,” he says, eyes widening. “I’m curious as to whether these girls were using these drugs before or after he took them.”
“You think they were using before?” Hotch asks, and Reid nods.
“I just don’t know why he would give the girls these drugs.”
“I’ll ask the families,” JJ says.
“When we land, Reid, start setting up a geographical profile. Prentiss and Morgan, check out the dump sights. JJ, talk to the families, and make sure the press doesn’t get the information about the drugs. Rossi, take Long and go check out the abduction sights. Wilson, reach out to your contact. I want Y/l/n and Holmestead to help me with victimology,” Hotch says, looking around.
“Yes, sir’s” went around the group, and you flip to look at the victim pages.
Holmes leans across the table and looks at you. “What do you think?”
You shake your head. “It’s strange,” you say. “They hardly have anything in common. Yeah, they went to the same school, and yeah, they both work in insurance, but two very different jobs.”
Holmes shrugs, then nods. “I agree. Were they friends?” He looks at Hotch for guidance, who shrugs.
“We’ll have to find out. Garcia, have you made any connections?”
Garcia looks up on the screen, then says, “Actually, another girl has just been reported missing.”
“It’s only been a day,” JJ says, and looks at Hotch.
“We hit the ground running,” he says, and you all nod.
~~~oOo~~~
Working with the team goes a lot smoother than expected. Your teams bond together instantly, and you all work quickly and effectively.
Unfortunately, even a day and a half after the third victim's abduction, you’re no closer.
“In his comfort zone, there are 14 warehouses, 13 abandoned buildings, 25 apartment complexes, and too many residential areas to count,” you say, looking over Reid’s shoulder as he writes on the board.
“He could be anywhere,” Hotch mutters, standing beside you.
“What are we missing?” Rossi says, and you turn and slump into a chair, sitting at the table with the team. Hotch sits next to you, a pensive look on his face.
“How did he choose each girl? Are these premeditated or spur of the moment? And why did he escalate his time frame?” Morgan says, looking around the table.
JJ rushes into the room. “The third girl's body was found. And he left a note.”
The table stands. “Reid and Y/l/n, stay here and analyze the note. JJ, keep the press occupied. No one releases the note. We don’t address it yet. Everyone else, at the crime scene.”
You nod, finding it a little odd that he left you with Reid (sure, you aren’t a field agent, but the rest of your team is going somewhere), but you stay nonetheless. The team files out and you turn to Reid, looking down at the scan of the note.
“The paper looks old,” Reid says, and you squint.
“It’s not old, it was made to look that way. See how it’s not torn or wrinkled, but it’s yellowed?”
Reid nods and looks at you, for a moment, surprised. It passes quickly, and he’s looking back at the text. “Typewriter, and it’s in third person. It just describes the crime.”
“What does that mean?” you ask, and Reid shrugs.
“It could mean any number of things. Could be living out his fantasy, could be any number of mental illnesses.”
You nod, crossing your arms. It’s going to be a long night.
~~~oOo~~~
The fourth girl was taken in the wide open. There was a witness. With a description of the vehicle.
“There are more purple Volkswagens in Tallahassee than there should be,” Garcia says, “but only one registered to someone within the comfort zone of our guy.”
He doesn’t know you’re coming, and the arrest is smooth, and the girl is safe.
The plane ride back is quiet—everyone is mostly asleep. You sit by Holmes, talking idly about how the court is probably going to rule on the case. Hotch is awake and across from you, but you can tell he’s listening.
“How’s the little one?” Holmes says, and you laugh.
“As rebellious as ever,” you sigh. “She wants to be a superhero when she’s older.”
Holmes laughs, leaning back in his seat and pushing his hand through his hair. “And that’s exactly why I didn’t have kids.”
You elbow him. “Like you could get someone to reproduce with you, anyway.”
He gasps, grasping his chest, feigning pain. “Low blow, Y/n, low blow.”
“Whatever, old man,” you say, leaning back. “How long are we working with the BAU?” you ask, glancing over your sleeping teammates.
“I’m not sure yet,” he says. Then he lowers his voice and whispers in your ear, “You’ve caught the BAU’s dear boss’s eye, I think.”
You giggle (you giggle) and say, “No way.”
“Yes way.”
“I guess he’s cute,” you say in a whisper. “But that’s a conversation for the morning. I’m exhausted.”
You look over at Hotch, writing his report and talking quietly with Rossi. You wonder what’s going through his mind.
“You know she wouldn’t want you to spend the rest of your life mourning her,” Rossi says quietly. Hotch nods.
“I know that, I do. I just, I wish there was a sign.”
Rossi puts his hand on his friend's shoulder. “There will be.” He looks over at you, eyes shut, head on Holmes’ shoulder. “Meanwhile, you’ve been looking at her quite a lot.”
“What?” Hotch says, taking in a shaky breath.
Rossi chuckles, shrugging. “I think you know.”
~~~oOo~~~
“Hey, sleep today, but tonight you should come out with us,” Garcia says as you gather your things from your makeshift desk. You landed at 4:30 in the morning, and after finishing your paperwork, you were ready to sleep for the entire day.
You hesitate, then shrug. “Sure, why not?”
Garcia squeals, “Yay!” You laugh and nod.
“What time, and where?”
“How about I pick you up?” she suggests, and you nod.
“Actually, that would be great,” you say. She smiles, and leaves you in your office. Your daughter calls you as you're leaving the building, and you meet Hotch in the elevator.
“Mommy!” the little girl cries happily into the phone.
“Hi, hon! I’m on my way home right now, what are you doing up this early, baby?”
She giggles. “Auntie and I have a surprise for you!”
You freeze. “Haley, what did you do?” You feel Hotch stiffen beside you, but you don’t ask him about it.
“Nothing! Bye, mommy!” she says before you can tell her no, and she’s hung up.
“Children,” you mutter. Hotch nods.
“What’s your kids name?” he asks, barely looking at you.
“Haley,” you say. “She’s four next month.” He hums, and you ask, “Do you have any children?”
“Yes,” he says. “Jack. He’s seven.”
The elevator door opens, and you almost think you’re disappointed.
“Can I walk you to your car?” he asks, and you nod.
“Yes, thank you.”
The walk is silent.
“See you tonight?” you say.
He shakes his head. “Probably not.”
“Why not? Could be fun.”
He hesitates, meeting your eyes. Then, he says, “I’ll think about it.”
You smile, getting into your car. “Have a good one, Hotchner.”
“You too, Y/l/n.”
~~~oOo~~~
Haley is asleep by 8:00, your sitter is at your door by 8:15, and Garcia is at your door at 8:30.
Black dress, red lipstick. It isn’t too fancy, but if Hotch shows up, you’ll look nice. (Not that you care, of course. As far as you know, he’s married).
“You look so pretty!” Garcia says once you’re in her car.
“Thank you! You too!” you say, and then she starts telling you stories from the team. How Reid will go off about Halloween, how Prentiss faked her death, how Morgan and her flirt endlessly (which you picked up on), how Hotch’s son, Jack, is doing soccer.
You, in turn, tell Garcia about Wilson’s wife, Mary, and how Holmes once fell down a well while working on a case and was stuck for an hour and a half, and how Greg has this terrible habit of accidentally befriending the worst people.
You reach the bar laughing, and you find the table everyone (except Hotch) is sitting at. You and Garcia join them, and conversation becomes easy. Until, a few minutes after your arrival, Hotch takes a seat beside you.
“Hi,” he says, and everyone greets him.
“We were just talking about how we could run off and buy a house in the woods and live a secluded life together for the rest of time,” Prentiss says, and you let out a laugh.
“I’m sure that will work out wonderfully, especially with three children,” Hotch says.
“And the house has to be big, there’s a lot of us,” you add.
“And we work for the government, they’ll be suspicious if we all quit at once,” Greg says.
Spencer shrugs. “Not to mention the cost of living would be expensive, and we’d be out of a job. Plus, there’s no one to replace us.”
You lean over and boop Spencer’s nose. “We’re irreplaceable.”
“Don’t count on that, Strauss has been after my ass since the moment I stepped in that office,” Hotch says.
Rossi mutters something into Hotch’s ear, and your stomach does backflips. JJ turns to you. “Is Haley still into dance?”
You shake your head. “That was a short lived hobby. I think this week it’s art.”
“Henry is the same way! He doesn’t stick with one thing for more than a few days,” she laughs. “Hotch, what about Jack?”
“He’s stuck with soccer pretty consistently, but he also can’t decide if he likes drums or drawing on the wall more.”
You and JJ laugh. “Where’s Will?” you ask JJ, raising an eyebrow.
“He stayed home with Henry, but he sends his love.” JJ looks over at Hotch. “I presume Jack is with Jessica?”
“Yes,” he says, huffing a laugh, his eyes darting to yours. “I really should be paying that woman.”
“Is Jessica not your wife?” you ask, glancing from JJ to Hotch. They share a look, and JJ turns to Spencer, picking up on his and Emily’s conversation. Your attention is now fully on Hotch, who sighs.
“No, Jessica is my sister-in-law,” he says, and he opens his mouth to say more, but then hesitates. “My wife died a few years ago. Her name was Haley.”
“Oh,” you say dumbly. “Oh, oh I’m so sorry.” You meet his eyes, but he shakes his head. “My husband died a few years ago too. Right before Haley was born, actually,” you say, laughing humorlessly.
He nudges your shoulder lightly, then says, “Look at us, two widowed single-parents.”
“A pair we make, Mr. Hotchner,” you say, and he nods.
~~~oOo~~~
As you’re leaving the conference room after a briefing, Holmes pulls you aside. He watches as everyone leaves the room, and says, “This will be our last case with the BAU.” You blink at him, disappointment filling you.
“Why are you telling just me?” you ask, crossing your arms.
Holmes shrugs, looking out the conference room window. You follow his gaze to where Hotch and Morgan are talking in front of Hotch’s office. “Because you might want to shoot your shot before you never see him again,” Holmes says. You try to ask him what he means, but he’s already left the room.
You sigh, picking up your things and getting your bag, going to stand beside JJ and Emily as you make your way out to the jet. You trail a step behind them, your mind racing. What did Holmes mean by that? Your heart dropped a little bit at the thought of never seeing the team you had been working with for the past six months ever again. Surely, you will. JJ and you are close friends, and you had grown close with the rest of the team too, right?
“What’s on your mind?” You startle at the sound of his voice, looking up to see Hotch looking down at you, his brows drawn together.
“Oh,” you say. “Nothing.”
“You can’t lie to a profiler.”
You laugh. “Holmes told me this is our last case together,” you tell him, looking ahead, where JJ and Emily are boarding the plane.
“It is,” he says. His voice is even, steady, normal. There is nothing to suggest he is happy for your departure or upset about it. He is neutral.
“Shame,” you say, “I was sort of getting used to working with you guys.”
He’s quiet for a moment, and you board the plane. You sit in your usual seat and he sits beside you; that’s how it always is. It feels wrong, today.
“It’s not like we’re just going to disappear, though,” Hotch says to you, just so you can hear. “You know where I work after all.” You huff a laugh, your heart rate increasing more than you’d care to admit. “On top of that, we have no idea how long this case will last. Maybe it goes horribly wrong and you’re stuck with me forever.”
“We better solve it quickly, then,” you say, raising an eyebrow at him. He scoffs, and you shake your head. “But, really. I’ll miss working with you.” After a second, your eyes widen and you add, “All.”
He nods, shifting in his seat. “I’ll regret no longer having your team’s expertise.”
“Our teams are good together, for sure.”
~~~oOo~~~
After the case, you try not to look too blue as you step onto the jet for the last time. You and Holmes are the first ones on the jet, and when you sit across from him instead of your usual spot, he raises an eyebrow at you.
“Do you know where we’re going next? What our next assignment is?” you ask. He shakes his head, and you look down at your hands.
“We won’t be travelling with the BAU,” he says, “but we will be working at headquarters for the meantime.”
“That’s going to be an adjustment,” you say, looking over at him. “Watching the team leave, not going with them.”
He nods. “But at least you’ll get to see him.”
“You mean them,” you say, furrowing your brow. “The team.”
As the words leave your mouth, Hotch walks on board. He nods at the two of you, his facial expression blank. He sits in his usual spot. He looks small.
“No, I said what I meant,” Holmes said, shrugging. “Maybe you just didn’t want to hear it.”
You don’t reply, looking over to where Hotch is sitting. You look to Holmes for permission, and he nods at you. You make your way over to Hotch, sitting next to him.
“Hi,” you say quietly.
“Hi,” he says back.
A beat.
“So—” you both say at the exact same time.
“I’m sorry,” you say.
“You go first,” he says.
“I’m going to miss you. The whole team,” you add, “but especially you.”
He flushes, giving a sort of smile as he shifts in his seat, nodding to you. “I’m going to miss you too.” You hold your breath, and he says, “But I figured, you know, there’s not really any reason we can’t still see each other. After this. We could get coffee sometime.”
You grin, bumping your shoulder against his. “Are you asking me out, Hotchner?” you whisper quietly, jokingly.
“Maybe,” he says, looking uncharacteristically unsure. “If you say yes.”
“Well,” you say, looking up and tapping your chin. You meet his eyes, and he’s staring at you like your next words are the most important thing in the world, “I would be an idiot if I said no.”
He smiles, big and wide like you’ve never seen and it goes straight to his eyes. “Then it’s a date.”
“Then it is,” you say, smiling right back at him.

Derailed (Director’s Cut)
Elle Greenaway x Spencer Reid
Word Count: ~1520
Warnings: Discussion of Spencer’s sex life, or lack thereof. Discussion of virginity as a social construct. Some suggestive dialogue, some snarky banter, and some sweetness to wash it down. It’s sexy, but also totally platonic, and it fades to black before anything actually happens.
A/N: You cannot convince me that this isn’t how Spencer lost his v-card.
For the “deleted scene” square on my @cmbingo card, written script-style and all. Picks up right where Derailed left off.
(I almost named this Railed. Then I almost named it Deflowered. So many tempting puns.)
Tumblr media
[Around dusk. Hotch is driving an SUV. Morgan is in front, Elle and Spencer in back.]
Hotch: Elle, your interview has been rescheduled for tomorrow… and this time I’m driving you.
Elle: I can live with that.
Hotch: Local PD asked Gideon to consult on a case, and they wanted advice on media strategy, so he took JJ. The rest of us aren’t needed, so I got us checked into a motel.
Morgan: Lemme get this straight. We have an actual night off… and we’re spending it in B.F.E., West Texas?
Elle: They have bars in West Texas, right?
Spencer: We just passed one.
Elle: Then you won’t see me complaining. Drinks? Reid?
Spencer: Are you buying?
Elle: Hell yes I am. C’mon, Morgan, you gonna come celebrate the fact that I didn’t die today?
Morgan: When you put it that way, I don’t have much of a choice, do I? [They pull up in front of the motel and start piling out of the car.] Showers first, though.
Elle: We can head out in like an hour. How about you, boss?
Hotch: While I’m very glad nobody died, I am not passing up the opportunity to sleep for more than four consecutive hours. I don’t care what you do as long as I don’t get a call in the middle of the night.
—
[Inside a bar. Spencer and Elle are sitting at a high top, with a collection of empty glasses in front of them. Both of them are tipsy, not totally drunk but sort of giggly and loose-limbed. Spencer is using a penny to show Elle how he hid the microchip earlier. Nearby, the bartender is handing Morgan three fresh drinks, but he’s distracted, talking to a pretty woman, as he takes them.]
[Morgan brings their drinks over to the table and sets two of them down.]
Morgan: So —
Elle: We lost you, huh? [To Spencer] Told you so.
Morgan: How ‘bout you, pretty boy? She’s got friends.
Elle: Oh, come on, you really gonna make me drink alone?
Spencer: Yeah, no thanks.
Morgan: Suit yourself. Don’t wait up.
[Elle rolls her eyes as he walks away. Then she turns back to Spencer, who’s playing with the penny again.]
Elle: You know I’m joking, right? I’m almost ready to head back to the motel, anyway. You should go have some fun.
Spencer: I’m about ready to call it a night too. And honestly, that doesn’t really seem like fun for me.
[Elle watches him for a second, thinking.]
Elle: The flirting? Or the flirting with girls?
Spencer: Hmm?
Elle: I shouldn’t have assumed, sorry… are you even interested in women?”
Spencer: Theoretically, yes? But more to the point, women are rarely interested in me. I’m not… like that. [He gestures at Morgan, who’s showing his new friend how to hold a pool cue, saying something in her ear as she giggles.]
Elle: It’s about confidence, Doc. Gotta be a little cocky. Not too cocky, but —
Spencer: I don’t know how to be cocky.
Elle: Like hell you don’t. Remember earlier? When I said you probably saved my life, and —
Spencer: — I said I totally saved your life. I remember.
Elle: That. Cocky. It works for you.
Spencer: I did save your life, though. That’s a statement of fact, objectively speaking. Of course I’m confident when it comes to stating a fact.
[Spencer flips the penny between his fingers a few times, then makes it disappear and pulls it out from behind her ear.]
Elle: There’s something to get cocky about. You’re good with your hands, doctor.
[Spencer gets flustered and drops the penny, laughing at himself.]
Spencer: That’s different.
Elle: How so?
Spencer: I’m not going to take a girl home and show her my magic tricks, for starters. [He finishes his drink hurriedly.] Are you ready to go? I’m ready to go.
Elle: You’re not getting out of this that easily.
[They both slide off their stools and pull on jackets. Elle looks around for Morgan, but he’s way too focused on the girl to notice them. Spencer makes a face. They head for the door and start walking down the block.]
Elle: Look, objectively speaking? You’ve got cheekbones that could cut glass and you’re a goddamn genius. You know more than me about… well, almost everything, and as annoying as that can be — [She rolls her eyes and sighs, annoyed by her own sincerity.] — it’s impressive. Not to get all schmoopy about it, but… you’re pretty awesome, Doc.
Spencer: I know I’m awesome. This isn’t about my self-esteem.
Elle: So what’s the problem?
Spencer: A random girl in a bar isn’t interested in my IQ. And anyway, it’s not… I know how to talk to girls. But I’m not about to take one home.
Elle: Why not?
[Spencer sighs heavily, looking exasperated.]
Spencer: You want to know why I’m confident in my ability to make pennies disappear?
Elle: I mean… not really, but I’m guessing you have a point.
Spencer: It’s because I’ve been practicing my whole life. I’ve mastered the skill because I’ve had years to do so.
[Realization slowly dawns on Elle’s face.]
Elle: You’re a virgin, aren’t you?
Spencer: Virginity is a social construct based on inherently patriarchal values of purity and the commodification of the female body. [Elle looks sideways at him, raising an eyebrow.] Yes, I’m a virgin.
Elle: So, is it about romance? You want the first time to be special? [Spencer shrugs.] Hate to break it to you, but most first times are funny at best. The sooner you get it out of the way, the sooner it can be an embarrassing story for Morgan to laugh at.
Spencer: Yeah. Great. That’s exactly what I want.
Elle: No, really, what are you hung up on? [They’ve arrived back at the motel. Elle starts opening her door, but pauses.] You want to come in for a minute? Finish this conversation over another drink?
[Spencer shrugs and follows her inside. She starts pouring drinks from the minibar while he continues.]
Spencer: I guess part of the problem is the… learning curve. If I get to that point with someone I already have feelings for, that’s a lot of pressure, you know? But it would feel disingenuous to just pick up a random girl at a bar.
[Elle hands him a glass and they sit down.]
Elle: Disingenuous?
Spencer: False advertising. [He gives her a self-deprecating frog face.] That doesn’t seem fair to her.
Elle: You’re telling me you don’t want to pick up a girl in a bar because you’re a perfectionist?
Spencer: Well… yeah, I guess that’s one way to put it. I don’t like being bad at things!
[Elle laughs and then stares at her glass for a moment, rolling it between her hands thoughtfully.]
Elle: Which means you need someone who knows what to expect. Someone who’s okay with… the learning curve.
Spencer: I mean, I know the theory, but —
Elle: That’s something you can’t really learn from a book.
Spencer: Unfortunately. I need some practical experience.
Elle: You need someone you trust. [Spencer nods.] Somebody you’re comfortable with, but not so emotionally involved with that you feel like you need to impress them.
Spencer: I guess. Yeah.
[Elle raises her eyebrows and waits for him to get it. It takes a minute. His first instinct is to laugh, then he realizes she’s serious.]
Spencer: Really?
Elle: Doesn’t take a genius to figure that one out.
Spencer: But… why?
Elle: You saved my life. Seems like the least I can do. I owe you one.
Spencer: I didn’t do that because I expected something in return! You’re my teammate, and my friend, and —
Elle: Because you know more than me about almost everything else in the world, and for once I’d like to be the one showing off.
Spencer: That’s not —
Elle: Haven’t you been listening? You’ve got cheekbones that could cut glass, and — objectively speaking — you’re pretty awesome. Besides, you’re my friend, and — [She hesitates, looking down at her glass, and the next part sounds almost painfully honest.] — my first time wasn’t great. It wasn’t with someone I trusted. And I guess if I can make sure it’s not like that for somebody else…
Spencer: Oh. [He smiles slightly, looking touched.] You really mean it?
[Elle rolls her eyes.]
Elle: One night only, no strings attached, and if you ever mention it to anyone on the team I will kill you in your sleep, but yeah. I mean it.
Spencer: Not a word.
[Elle drains her glass and straddles him matter-of-factly. He looks very overwhelmed.]
Spencer: Did you know —
[Elle puts a finger to his lips and shakes her head. He closes his mouth immediately, and she gives him an approving nod, teasing but also genuinely fond.]
Elle: You’re a fast learner, aren’t you? As long as you can follow directions and keep the statistics to yourself, I think we’re going to have some fun tonight. Now, shut up and kiss me.
[Spencer smiles. Cut to black.]

Doctor Agent Super Genius (Spencer Reid x Reader)
Summary: You’re in a band and you wrote a song about Spencer.
Warnings: Language.
Notes: Not me going from posting nothing for months to posting two fics in one day. Nope, I’d never do that. Also this is kinda a Dumbass!Reader x Spencer, but like not really. That’s how I started it but it didn’t really end like that so whatever. Fluff, as usual. Spencer blushes way more than any normal person.
Word Count: 2.4k
Masterlist
You and Spencer couldn’t be more different.
Well, that’s not entirely true. You’re the same age, live in the same city. You both like reading and sci-fi. You both listen to a lot of music and love your jobs.
Of course, you can’t agree on any of those things. He reads classic novels in their original languages, and you read cheesy romance books. He likes Star Trek, you like Star Wars. He listens to classical music, and you listen to rock. He’s an FBI agent with multiple doctorates, and you’re a part time bartender/part time lead singer of a not-so-famous band who barely graduated high school. By all accounts, you two shouldn’t work. But somehow, despite all your differences, you’ve been dating for nearly a year now.
Your relationship really couldn’t be stronger; you live together, you’ve met his mother, he’s met your parents- but there was still one line the two of you hadn’t crossed. Meeting his coworkers. You know that he’s told them he’s dating someone, after all, they’re profilers. They could tell he was with someone after your first date. But for some reason, Spencer was still hesitant to introduce them to you. You tried not to let your insecurities cloud your thoughts, but well, how could you not? Was he embarrassed by you? Did he think they’d judge you for your lack of education and career? Would he break up with you if they didn’t approve?
You’d brought up meeting his coworkers on multiple occasions, of course, but he always had a reason to put it off.
“We’re all so busy, we’d probably get called off to a case before they even get to know you.”
“They’re just gonna profile you, Y/N, trust me, you don’t want that.”
“It’s a team bonding thing, I don’t want you to feel left out. Next time?”
So, when you found out the entire BAU was getting a week off after almost non-stop cases for the past two months, you knew this was your chance. You didn’t care if they were going to judge you, or profile you, you wanted to get to know the people closest to Spencer. So, when Spencer came home that night, he was met with you, holding a flyer for your band’s next gig.
~~~
“What’s this?” He asked, taking off his bag and putting it on the ground next to the door. Normally, you’d scold him for that - “There’s a perfectly good hook right there, Spencer.” - but you let it slide this time.
“Band’s doing a gig at the bar on Friday. And you have this week off, which means you get to come!” You handed him the flyer, and planted a kiss on his cheek as he answered.
“Of course, you know I never miss your-”
“And so can the rest of the BAU!” You cut him off with a sweet, and convincing smile on your face.
“Honey…” He started, but you wouldn’t let him talk you out of it this time.
“C’mon Spence! We’ve been together for almost a year now! I want to get to know these people, they’re basically your family! What’s the harm in having them come to the bar?” You paused for a moment, taking a deep breath before your next words, “Do you really think they’ll hate me so much?”
“What?” Spencer was shocked you would even suggest that the BAU wouldn’t like you - how could they not love you? “No! They’ll love you!”
“Then why won’t you let me meet them?”
Now it was Spencer’s turn to share his insecurities. “W- I just...you and I are so different,” He started, before you scoffed.
“Yeah, no shit, Spence. Unless you have secret nipple piercings too.” You said sarcastically, enjoying the redness that covered Spencer’s cheeks at the mention of your piercings.
“Anyways...you and I are really different, and they’ll point it out. And make fun of me. And..and probably make you realize that you could do better than nerdy old me.” Spencer let out a breath at his confession, feeling a weight leave his chest that he’d been carrying for months.
“Are you insane? Spence, if anyone can do better it’s you!” Spencer opened his mouth to protest, but you kept talking, “I mean really Spencer, you’re a badass FBI agent! You’re a doctor! You’re a genius! Any girl would kill to have a guy like-” Spencer cut you off with an intense kiss. When he finally pulled away, just for a moment, he spoke quietly.
“So Friday, huh? You really wanna meet them?”
“Yes, you idiot. I really wanna meet them.”
~~~
When Friday came rolling around, you were both extremely excited and nervous. On one hand, you were meeting the BAU, who are practically Spencer’s family, and you knew their opinion of you could make or break your relationship. But, you’d written a song this week that you had yet to show Spencer, and you couldn’t wait for him to hear it at the gig. Again, you were nervous for him and the team to hear the song, but part of being a musician is being vulnerable.
You’d been rehearsing the song with your band all week - they were a little mad that you’d wanted to add a brand new song so last minute, but they all agreed it was good enough that it had to be on the setlist - so you hadn’t gotten to spend as much of Spencer’s week off with him as you’d have liked. Hopefully when he heard the song tonight, he’d forgive you for it.
“Why can’t I go to your sound check again?” He asked you for the fifth time that day, as you were getting ready for your gig. Normally, you’d love to have Spencer at sound check, and he much preferred watching you perform when there wasn’t an obnoxious crowd surrounding him.
“I told you, I have a surprise for you during the show, and if you come to sound check-”
“It’ll be ruined, I know. I was just hoping you’d change your mind.” He pouted, making you almost regret saying no to him. Almost.
“Trust me babe, it’ll be worth it. Go to dinner with the team, and I’ll meet you all at the bar at 8.”
“Are you sure you want to meet them?”
“Yes, genius, I’m sure. 8 o’clock.”
“Okay, 8 o’clock.”
~~~
When you walked onto the small stage with the band, you could immediately spot Spencer and the BAU in the crowd. There was a decent turn out, but Spencer stood out like a sore thumb. At least, he always stood out to you. You gave him a smile and wink, before standing in front of the mic to introduce the band.
The set started like normal, playing the songs Spencer knew by heart (of course, he only needed to hear the songs once to know them by heart, but it still made your heart soar when you saw him singing the lyrics in the crowd). You noticed the other members of the BAU enjoying the songs as well, which settled your nerves greatly. You saw who you could only assume to be Garcia and Morgan dancing provocatively together, the two other women - probably Prentiss and JJ - dancing modestly together, pausing to talk every now and then. You recognized Rossi from the back cover of his books, enjoying the music with a scotch and a slight bobbing of his head to the beat. The last person, from the process of elimination, Hotch, didn’t appear to be enjoying himself at first glance - but you could see a hint of a smile on his face as he lightly swayed to the music.
When you got to the final song in your set, you were looking right at Spencer as you introduced the song. “So, this next song is gonna be the last of the night -” A roar of upset came from the crowd, causing you to laugh as you wiped the sweat from your forehead. “I know, I know, I’m not happy about it either guys. But, it is a brand new song, and the inspiration for it is right here in the room.” The crowd grew in excitement this time, looking around at each other as if they could figure out who the mystery muse was. Spencer already felt a blush growing on his cheeks as he realized what your surprise was going to be. “This song is called Doctor Agent Super Genius!” You said with a large smile on your face, as the guitarist began playing the beginning chords.
Spencer’s blush was even more obvious now, especially since all his coworkers had looked away from the stage and towards him. He only shrugged in response, trying to show that he knew nothing about it. Before any of them could question him, you began to sing.
Most girls go for tall, dark, and handsome
But that’s not how I’d describe you
You’re a little scrawny,
Your hair is kinda funny,
And you’ve got enough brains for two
The music began to build, and you were looking right at Spencer as you sang.
You talk my ear off about random facts
That I don’t give a shit about, but,
I’ll smile and nod
As you go on and on
Cause I want you to take me out
You laughed a little, then began playing your own guitar along with the lead guitarist before the chorus hit.
You see he’s got
1 2 3!
PHDs, and he knows exactly what I’m thinkin’ just by lookin’ at me
He knows everything about everything
Especially what to do in between the sheets, hey!
As you played your guitar and did your best to interact with the crowd before the next verse hit, Spencer’s blush had hit an all time high. The team, clearly enjoying the suggestive lyrics and the way Spencer had reacted to them, were now all dancing. Well, except Hotch. He was just laughing at Spencer along with the team.
You claim that you don’t have luck with girls
But I don’t see how that’s true
Cause those ladies are insane if they don’t want an agent
Who’s as fucking cute as you
Yeah, you talk my ear off about random facts
That I don’t give a shit about, but
I’ll smile and nod, ask a question or two,
Cause I’m kind of in love with you
Once again, you played guitar as the crowd got ready to sing along, now familiar with the words to the chorus. Spencer wasn’t looking, but Garcia had pulled out her phone to catch his reaction. (She already had plans to play the video at your wedding one day)
You see he’s got
1 2 3!
PHDs, and he knows exactly what I’m thinkin’ just by lookin’ at me
He knows everything about everything
Especially what to do in between the sheets
Because he’s got
1 2 3!
PHDs, so he shoulda known better than to be with someone like me
He’ll never forget a single moment of it
I just hope he won’t regret it…
Dear God, please don’t regret it!
Doctor Agent Super Genius,
It’s time to be an idiot and,
Fall in love with me
The lead guitarist had one last moment to shine as the song ended, and the crowd went wild before the band exited the stage.
~~~
It had been 15 minutes since your show had ended, and you finally made your way out of the back. After a change of clothes, and a small pep talk from the drummer in your band, you spotted Spencer and the team at a table in the back. As you made your way over, you caught the eye of Penelope Garcia, who immediately stood up and pulled you into an unexpected hug.
“Y/N Y/L/N! I am so excited to finally meet you!” She said, letting you go for only a brief moment before pulling you into a chair between herself and your boyfriend. He only got to give you a brief hello before Penelope began introducing you to everyone. “This is Derek, Emily, JJ, Rossi, and Hotch. Oh! And I’m Penelope, your new best friend.” You laughed at her excitement, taking it all in stride.
“Hi everyone, I’m Y/N. I hope you liked the show!” At the mention of the show, Spencer’s cheeks, which had only just begun to resemble his normal skin tone, turned red again.
“Oh trust me, Y/L/N, that was the best concert I’ve ever seen.” Derek said, laughing at Spencer’s reaction.
“You did amazing, as always.” Spencer said, glaring at Derek briefly before planting a light kiss on your cheek. This time, it was your turn to have your cheeks heat up.
“Please tell me you guys have a CD or something I can buy, I mean honestly, I’d be listening to your music even if it wasn’t for you dating the super genius.” Emily said, causing your face to light up.
“We don’t have any physical CDs yet, but all of our music is on itunes and spotify! We’re hoping to put together an album soon, once we record Doctor Agent Super Genius and a couple other songs we’ve written recently…” And you were off, talking about your music was always something you could do for hours.
As you got to know the team, and they got to know you, Spencer realized how stupid it had been of him to put this off. Sure, you and Spencer were completely different, but you fit into his life perfectly. He could already tell the team loved you, and knew you’d be a part of all of their lives for years to come.
~~~
When you got home after a long night of talking at the bar, you were surprised to immediately be pulled into a kiss by your boyfriend. When he finally pulled away from you, your could only laugh before you spoke.
“What was that for?”
“Doctor Agent Super Genius.” Was his answer, before he pecked your lips one more time.
“Oh yeah? Did you like the song?” You asked, even though you already knew the answer.
“I loved it. Although, you got something wrong.” You laughed lightly, expecting him to correct some grammar or fact from the song. “Falling in love with you wasn’t stupid. It’s the smartest thing I’ve ever done.” You beamed before kissing him this time, pouring all of your love into it as best you could.
“But you were right about me knowing everything. Especially in between the sheets. Care to let me prove it?” He said once you pulled away.
You happily let him prove his genius all night.
Be Mean
Tumblr media
Warnings: smut, femdom, degradation, sub!spencer, mild masochism, choking, generally mean shit lol
Length: 5.3k (ik)
Authors Note: uhh happy valentines day! not the fic anyone was expecting today and extremely self indulgent but valentines day is about self love too right? lmfao anyways, hope yall enjoy
Summary: Spencer was just a little too into the way you cuss people out and it was starting to weigh on him. You’re more than happy to help him out.
Words were falling from your lips with grace. Your back was straight as you leaned into the table - the unsub just inches away. He was a narcissist, and his hatred for strong women became increasingly clear the moment you stepped into the room. He wanted to prove he was smarter, tougher, and better than you - but the challenge you reproached him with left his knuckles white. Teeth gritted, jaw clenched, and that same grace - analyzing and cold, never seemed to escape you.
It didn’t take long for the arrest to fall through - his confession leaving him as he tried to express his pathetic anger towards you. He called you names but nothing creative, not as smart as he seemed to be but you couldn’t help but laugh at him. Soon after he delves into explaining his own genius and the pieces continued to fall together - it was a good case and luckily he didn’t get far after his first 3 victims. Not something that the BAU gets lucky with very often, you think.
Spencer watched you in the interrogation - eyes fading over your body language carefully. You were unnervingly confident - always were no matter whether it was a killer or not. He took notice of many little things that seemed to make the details of your existence culminate further in his mind. You licked the inside of your lip when you were getting close to breaking the unsub, and your eyes would get a little lower when he started to speak. You rolled your shoulders when you watched him get escorted and that warm, sweet version of you returned to you with no trouble at all.
It was easy for people to call you BAU’s resident sweetheart. You were charming, witty, and intelligent but also kind. When the team needed someone who people can trust, you were always up there on the list. Your skills of diffusion were particularly helpful, you worked homeland security for a long while and it showed. Your capabilities to ease a tense moment as well as interrogate a criminal in a provocative way has proved helpful time and time again - but who you were was always up in the air. It was a valuable trait to be mysterious in that sense.
On one hand, Spencer really did like plain Y/N more than anything. You were always particularly kind to Spencer - you remembered his birthday and always texted him right at 12 beating the entire BAU, even Garcia. You brought him soup and cold medicine when he was sick because you were close by and he needed some company. You helped him babysit JJ’s kids because you could and you were fond of them. You were never too impatient and you let him work in silence rather than making commentary about his process. You just got him, and it all seemed to come naturally though you knew things someone could only figure out through careful observation.
Y/N the Agent was different, though. Still you, when she needed to be. Any cases involving young children, or innocent people in general really showed the other side of you. But you had this moment in every case, where your hyperfocus became so sinister everyone in the department could feel it. They were different sides of the same coin, your traits manifesting themselves in different ways but Spencer had a very particular notice of it. For one, it fascinated him a lot. How could anyone not be fascinated by that?
Of course though, that wasn’t the only reason but the other half of this whole spiel was a lot more embarrassing but -
Spencer got unbelievably turned on when he watched you interrogate criminals and - listen he knows okay? He really understands how absolutely not good that is but the memory is so burned into his brain he can’t help but think about it every time it comes up.
The team was in Arizona working on ritualistic killings from a small tribe, native to the area. You and Reid had been assigned to talk to important community members and there was a head elder dude there who was particularly scummy - though not the unsub. He was too cocky to pull off such elaborate and patient murders so he was ruled out early but he was hiding something and you needed to know what it was. When interrogations went on, you confronted the man about his use of testosterone injections - something forbidden in the community since they believed modern medicine was extremely harmful, part of the killers M.O.
The conversation between the two of you was short-lived but memorable, to say the least.
“What happened, elder? Were the village girls not working for you anymore so you sicked your friend on them cause you couldn’t get it up? Was it worth it?,” your voice was thick with distaste and the elder lost his shit. He ended up confessing that he had a strong hunch but he’d only tell if they kept his secret and the lead was correct.
Spencer's mind hasn’t been able to let go of that moment and every single time a case comes up where you have to confront someone he finds himself having to relieve himself in a bathroom stall or strain himself to get it to just go away. It was killing him really. He had a crush on you sure, always has but his body reacting like he was a 16-year-old boy every time you spoke was not going to cut it but he didn’t know what to do either.
He finds himself in that same position now, on the plane ride home with the thought of you and your demeanor keeping him from focusing. You were asleep across from him, wearing comfortable clothes that slid just over your shoulders. He couldn’t help the way his eyes lingered on his skin and he tried his absolute best to ignore and go to sleep.
_
When Spencer Reid arrived home, he was pleasantly surprised to see messages from you, asking to hangout in his apartment while your kitchen gets renovated. There was no way in hell he was gonna say no to that, so he tidied his things up and ordered thai food while he waited for your arrival.
It didn’t take long for you to show, wearing black joggers and a tight tanktop that Spencer has never seen you in before. It looked good on you, accentuating the strength in your shoulders in back. He knew you were decently fit but this was surprising, even for him. You smiled wide as you stepped through the door, giving Spencer a tight hug. He can feel your boobs pressed up against his chest and he wants to kick himself for the shiver that runs off his spine as if he were a teenager again.
“Hey, Spence. Thanks again for letting me come over today, hope I’m not intruding,” you say softly, as you settle down on Spencer's couch, phone in hand. He nods, smiling.
“It’s no problem. The food should be here in a minute but do you want a glass of water or anything in the meantime? I also have some lemonade, if you want that,” Spencer offers. You readjust and Spencer watches the way your muscles tense. He shouldn’t be noticing something like that yet here he is.
“Lemonade sounds great, thanks Spence,” you say, laying into the couch as you scroll through your phone. Spencer excuses himself to the kitchen, grabbing glasses from his cupboard and filling them up with lemonade before returning to you. He places the glasses on the table in front of you, before the sound of the doorbell alerts him.
You get up, retying your hair as the smell of Thai food hits you. You let out an involuntary moan but Spencer just laughs. The food is set up in front of you, but its far too hot for either of you to eat so the both of you sip on your lemonade and chat instead.
“Everytime we get a few days off, the paranoia of a case hits the ground running,” you complain, gently. Spencer laughs, nodding his head.
“Oh definitely. I can’t imagine what it’s like not thinking about it all the time, though,” he explains. You nod your head in agreement.
“Yeah, but time off is still time off so the plan is to spend the weekend alone with a glass of wine and some romantic films and relax,” you explain, sighing. Spencer looks at you curiously.
“Didn’t take you for the romance type,” he states curiously. You sigh again, looking at him.
“I’m not for the most part, it kinda serves a different purpose for me than most women I’d argue,” you reply to him. Spencers intrigued by your comment and sits up a bit.
“How so?,” he poses carefully. You place your lemonade down on the coffee table and scratch the back of your neck.
“Don’t get me wrong, I like being wined-and-dined like any woman. Romance itself is nice, love is wonderful - but the way I wanna be romanced isn’t exactly traditional,” your voice is airy when you speak, laughing at yourself but the revelation maes Spencers weak.
“Traditional?,” he manages to squeak out. You notice his shift in behavior, and you slow down for a moment.
“We don’t have to talk about that kinda stuff, Spence. It’s more of a girls night thing I’d talk about with Garcia and JJ - though they already know about most of it,” you say lightly. Spencer chokes a bit as you continue to reveal details.
“No, it's not that. I’m… interested?,” he says nervously, chewing the inside of his lip. You tilt your head, surprised by his curiosity.
“Didn’t take you for a freak, pretty boy,” you comment, giggling. Spencer's face turns hot, but you reassure him you’re only kidding.
“Yeah, I don’t know. I don’t really care for the whole subservient role, especially not in bed. I enjoy seeing someone do what I say, and having things go my way. I’ve always been like that, figured that out with my first highschool boyfriend, hah,” you say, sipping your lemonade.
Spencer swallows at the realization that you’re probably experienced, very experienced in that department. He shifts in his set again and your eyes settle on him for a moment, neither of you making eye contact but rather observing each other
“I don’t know how to explain it all that well, but I like it when I can be just a little mean, you know,” you say, smiling. Your tone is joking but your words have weight to them. Spencer's throat is closing up as you speak but he smiles back at you fondly. You take notice but hold yourself back.
“You sure you’re okay, Spencer?,” your voice is different this time. Knowing. Spencer's eyes flutter over to you and he’s aware rather suddenly of your being. The way your chest rises and falls as you speak, the smoothness of your lips around the glass, the way your hair falls over your face. He nods as you observe him. Your lips twitch up into a smile.
“Spencer, could it be resident boy genius is a sub?,” you say incredulous. Spencers whole face flushes and you find your clit up at attention at the non-verbal confession.
While he may be oblivious to it, you had a rather massive crush on Spencer. Something about his intelligence was remarkably sexy to you and knowing he was also a good person didn’t make the feelings any easier. Who could blame you for having a crush on Spencer, anway? Most people did - it was part of the reason you never told him. Based on his personality and dating history - it didn’t really seem like you were his type. You weren’t massively intelligent or particularly unique (at least you didn’t think so) so you couldn’t imagine Spencer having a crush on you. You were great, but you didn’t think you were Spencers type, thats all.
However, that didn’t stop you from thinking about him - really the opposite. Every waking moment you’d catch him doing something absentmindedly you cute - your brain begged to see him fucked out and sleepy. He’d ramble about something for so many minutes and all you wanted to do was sit on his face and shut him up (and then let him continue because he was honest to god so cute like that)
The point was that Spencer really did something to you. You had countless lingering thoughts about him but to know that this was actually something he was into made your head spin. You couldn’t hold your expression back and maybe it was your own masochism that made you want to know more but god did you want to know more.
“How long have you known about yourself, Spence?” you interrogate. Spencer swallows and prays to every deity his mind can manage as he looks at you pleadingly but you can’t recognize what the pleading is really for.
“How long have you been on the team?,” Spencer speaks before he can really understand the weight of his words, and the second he says the whole room stops. You look at him with delighted surprise and he shuts his eyes at contempt for his own existence.
“No fucking way,” you can’t help the little inhale you do at the realization. Pure excitement just emanating from your being like nobody's business. You were genuinely going to lose your mind at this revelation. Spencer Reid discovered that hes a sub because of you? Were you dreaming?
If this wasn’t Spencer's apartment he would’ve run away. He just had to look at you instead and face the fact he just revealed his own sins. Your laugh at Spencer revelation made the little nagging voice in Spencers head just a little louder and that meant that -
“You’re really into whatever you’ve been thinking of huh?,” you say, eyeing the hard-on in his pants casually. Spencer looks down and places a pillow on his lap, wishing to throw his entire existence into a fire and to never ever look back.
“Shit,” he doesn’t know what else to say. He’s at total wits end with himself and is forced to deal with the repercussions of his horniness.
On the other hand there was you, eyes full of delight as your mind raced with all the thoughts of what Spencer could be thinking about. Anything was good really, any level of him giving up his control to you was good. It all worked for you but whatever he’d been thinking about specifically had you itching to know.
“What could it be? I mean - seriously, I have to know what has the beloved Doctor this flustered. You have to tell me,” you say smiling. Spencer just shakes his head.
“Aww c'mon, do you want me to start guessing?,” you joke. Spencer looks at you that time and you realize that might be key. You look at him in surprise.
“Okay, well let’s think. It started when we worked together which means it was probably when we were in the field,” you start profiling Spencer, which on one hand he’s not a fan of but on another he’s a little turned on by.
You chew on your lip as you think for a minute.
“The work I do on the field sorta depends, but mostly I diffuse situations,” you say softly, really to only yourself. “But also, I do a lot of interrogations, and with the way you reacted to that whole being mean thing, I’m gonna go ahead and place my bets on that,” you conclude. You look to Spencer for approval and his eyes are hazy as he nods a yes.
You place your glass on the table, and move in front of Spencer. Normally your height isn’t all too important to him but right now your being towers over him and all he can do is look up at you. You wish you had the patience to do a little bit more teasing but you couldn’t hold back too much. Your knee is between his legs as you bend it and lean over him. Your fingers brush his hair back for a moment as you use your knuckle to pull his face up. He wants to refuse but he can’t so he lets you - looking at you tenderly. He’s cute like this.
“Spence, you know I actually like you right?,”
“No,”
You laugh lazily. Your hands on the side of his face, brushing your thumb along his cheek as you look at him adoringly.
“I like you a whole lot, probably a lot more than like - actually. So whatever we do after this - if you want to do something anyways, it’s because I actually like you,” you say softly. Spencer nods, blush staining his cheeks.
“I - uh, like you too,” he says warmly. You chew your lip.
“Can I kiss you, Spencer?,” the way you ask makes Spencer's heart melt. This was you, all at once. No sides of any coins, still kind and warm and thoughtful, but still mean and intimidating in the way Spencer likes. He wants to scream yes, but he nods instead.
You brush your lips over his for a second, smiling as he moves forwards to gain some contact. You don’t hesitate to kiss him forreal that time, lips pressed to his as your hand lays at the base of his necks, fingers pressing into his throat as he sighs. Your lips are warm, your touch is soft and Spencer could cry with how gentle you treat him. You pull away and brush your nose against his.
“For someone who kisses like that, I’m surprised you’re so into the idea of being degraded,” you chuckle. Spencer coughs and just looks at you shyly.
“Yeah, I really am,” his voice is hoarse.
You straddle yourself in Spencers lap and move the pillow. All the sudden contact makes his skin flush and he looks at you needy. Your pants are loose but your tank top is tight, and he finds his eyes looking at your chest before he can think about it. You roll your eyes at him, leaning into his neck to press a kiss on it. He whimpers and you smile - he really is desperate.
“Perv,” you murmur to him.He laughs.
“Can’t say you’re wrong,”
“Before we go any further, I wanna give you a safe word. I wouldn’t normally be doing something like this the first time for the purposes of semantics but I want you too badly to wait that long. I want to make sure it doesn’t get to be too much for you, in a bad way at least,” you say softly. Spencer looks at you and kisses you, and you laugh.
“We can do Red for Stop, Yellow for Slow Down, and Green for Go,” you explain warmly. He nods.
“Okay,” he says it back to you as he buries his face in your neck. You pet his hair and place a kiss on his head.
“Tell me what you want, angel,” you say first. Your voice is smooth like silk, the word angel rings out in his mind. It’s too pretty for what he wants you to do and maybe that's why he likes it so much. The juxtaposition to be something so pretty when all he wants you to do is ruin him.
He wants so much all at once he has trouble verbalizing any of it. It’d come out so incoherent even if he tried but he wants it, whatever the case may be. He feels your hands on his chest while you stare him down. He makes eye-contact and when he tries to look down again your hands force his chin up.
“Gotta look at me when you say it, baby. Otherwise, I won’t know who you’re talking too,” you say thoughtfully. Fuck - thats hot. Spencer swallows and nods, looking into your eyes as his mind racks itself with possibilities.
“Wanna fuck you,” he can’t believe how it sounds. He has so much more that he wants - he wants to fuck you while you absolutely take away his ability to cum. He wants to hear your voice when you talk down to him about it - about how hard he is when you get like this, and about how dirty he must really be. He wants to hear you threaten him with the possibility of being blue-balled hanging over his head. He wants you to be so fucking mean to him because he knows it doesn’t matter - he knows all the choice is yours and he really does love to please you and he knows he’s quite the masochist for it. He doesn’t care.
“I think you wanna do a little bit more than fuck me, Spence,” you giggle. Your eyes turn a shade darker as your hand moves to his throat. His hands are planted to his sides as your grip tightens around his neck - voice cold as you whisper into his ear.
“I think you want me to fuck you instead, yeah? Watch your teeth sink into your lips while I sit on your dick and make fun of you for how easy you twitch when I move. You’re so easy, Spencer,” the words leave your mouth and spill like wine. The words stain his whole mind with lust - absolutely aching to hear more. Fuck did he want that.
“Take your shirt off,” you don’t ask. He does so without warning and his eyes beg you do the same.
“I’ll take mine off when you’ve earned it, unzip your pants,” you reply nonchalant. He holds back a whimper and does so, his cock stiff against his boxer-briefs. You stand up and slide your pants off and your wearing boy-shorts, making Spencer sigh.
He looks up at you pleadingly, and you smile at him. You walk up to him again and smile, as he looks up at you. You let him lay his head on your stomach as he looks at you, your fingers tucked into his curls.
You tug them as you force him to look up at you. He groans from his throat as your other hand is placed on the side of his face. His eyes are weary as he looks at you. Your hands threaten to place a hit on him.
“You should get all that begging under control before there's a handmark on that pretty face of yours love,” you say softly. He looks at you with challenge.
“I don’t think I can, miss,” he says softly. You want to kiss him but you refrain.
“Color?,”
“Green”
You lift your hand and place a firm hit on Spencer's cheek. He relishes in the pain, the demand your fingers have in them. You command respect and he knew it deep in him. He groans at the feeling.
“Didn’t take you for the type,” your commentary is sly like Spencer likes it. It’s mean in a witty way, not degrading just to do it. It fits perfect with your demeanor and Spencer adores it.
You grab a stool from near one of Spencer bookshelves and place it between his legs. You’ve picked up tie from the ground while you sit yourself in front of him
“Stand up and turn around, and put your hands together behind your back,” you say, voice laced with faux boredom. Spencer does as told as you tie his hands together. You stare at him like that, taking note at his figure. He’s slim and it’s cute to you.
You pull his boxers down and spit into your hand, reaching around to wrap your hands around his cock. He hisses at the feeling, finding his hips rutting into them. He was so desperate for it.
“There's so much to do with you, I don’t even know where to start,” you sigh. Spencers mind races as your hand moves across him, wrapping around his length tight and letting your thumb run over his slit - just so you could feel how it twitched.
“I could make you cum like this, facing away from me - too focused on being degraded to care. You’d still get off on that wouldn’t you, angel?,” you say warmly. You stand up and place your hands under his chin. He looks down at it.
“Spit,”
He does as told. You drip it across his length and he shivers as you take him back into your pals, fingers curled tightly around his base while your other hand plays with his nipples. Your thumbs flick across them carefully and he whimpers, knees nearly folding at the sensation of pleasure.
“You don’t seem like one for visuals but maybe it’d be more fun for me if I fucked myself in front you with your hands behind your back. All of what would be on your dick, slick on my fingers instead. If I were nice, I’d let you taste me,” you muse. Spencer throws his head back at your words.
“Or maybe that type of torture isn’t your cup of tea. What’d you prefer Spencer? You cum so many times you nearly pass out from all the pleasure? At the end of all that, you’d have been so ruined that you’d have nothing to show for it when you came. Your whole body aching pleasure but with nothing left to give,” your thoughts come to you in phases but to Spencer the sound like holy scripture. Dry orgasms sound painful but Spencer was certainly intrigued.
“I wonder if you’d cry for me, baby. When your dick gets all red and sensitive and it hurts, would I have to wipe the tears off your pretty face? Sounds nice,” your voice is light and makes Spencer want to smile. He didn’t take you for that much of a sadist but he finds himself pleasantly surprised by the revelation
Your grip on his shaft tightens rather suddenly and Spencer whimpers. His voice is shaky, bare chest rising and falling at the feeling of your hands gripped around him.
“Fuck, please,” Spencer begs you to ease up but he doesn’t really want you too. You sigh, placing a kiss on his back.
“Please, what? You want me to stop?,” you ask, knowing damn well that it was the opposite. He shakes his head.
“Please let me fuck you, please,” the need in Spencer's voice was rather nice. You pull your hand off and tell Spencer to lay down on the couch. He does so without question but aches with how much he misses your touch. He moved against his restraints to try and get some friction but no luck.
He watches you as you pull down your underwear, giving him a view to how wet you are. A slick spot just sitting between your thighs, pretty as can be. Spencer's throat is dry, the urge to touch you sending his mind into agony.
“You talk too much,” your actions speak louder than words as you position yourself over Spencer's face. His neck cranes up to get a taste of you, tongue flatly along your slit trying to get some friction. You groan at the feeling, as Spencer laps at you. Flicking his tongue back and forth along your clit, curling around before sucking it into his mouth for a few seconds at a time.
“Jesus, Spencer,” you moan out to him, finger gripping in his hair. He wished he could verbalize how grateful he was, but he tried his best to show it instead. He could do this all day if you let him, and if his hands were free he’d wrap them tightly around your hips so you’d lean more weight on him. You could break his neck, honestly. It wouldn't matter to him, the way you had him feeling.
You grind your hips, rutting against Spencer's tongue as you ride yourself closer to orgasm. The sound of you getting off mixed with the taste of you on his tongue made Spencer feel like he was living off of you and he didn’t mind. You were so good to him.
“I’m gonna fuck the shit out of you,” is the last words you say before you cum all over Spencer face. Riding your orgasm out, you move and look down at Spencer, face flush. He smiles at you, absolutely ecstatic and you can’t help but laugh.
“I’ll untie you now, you did so good for me baby,” you praise softly, untying Spencer's hands. The first thing he does is sit up and wrap his arms around your waist. He places kisses along your naval as you pet his hair. He looks up at you, your orgasm still clear on his face. You cup his jaw and kiss him, just a little messy.
“You're soft, baby,” you note. He nods, seeming sleepy already and you wanna coo at him. He looks up at you again and shakes his head.
“Be mean to me, please,” his voice is shaky. You’re surprised, leaning down to give him a kiss on the forehead before you agree.
“Sit back,” you demand. He does so without question as you straddle his lap. He can feel his tip brushing back and forth between your folds as you look at him adoringly, face full of affection mixed with an urge to give him what he’s so kindly asked for.
You wrap your hands around his neck as you sink down on Spencer cock. It stretches you out slowly, wrapped tightly around Spencer. He hits your cervix with ease. His breathing is labored, his hand holding your wrist as you choke him.
“Look at you, my love. I’m taking your breath away, and you're giving it up to me just like that? You want me to wreck you that badly huh? I didn’t take your for such a slut,” you utter that last word with false confidence but the way Spencer adores every second of it gives you real confidence instead. He could cum right then and there - hearing you call him a slut makes him feel something rather unexpected. It’s an ultimate powerplay, because the both of you know that right now he’s only giving it up for you, but it implies something so much greater. He likes it so much, likes the sound of bombarding him with pleasure and degradation that when he moans, voice strained as the column of his neck gets squeezed - he doesn’t really know how to stop himself from saying again.
“You like being a slut for me baby?,” you ask, bouncing up and down on Spencer cock, feeling the way he twitches in you. You let go of his throat, and he coughs before looking at you softly. His fingers run over the feeling of your hands. Your mouth moves to his neck instead, marking hickies into it as he holds onto your hips and fucks into you. He nods his head yes at your question.
“You’re so needy, love,” you remark, pulling back and using your fingers to rub your clit as Spencer fucks into you. You cum again a second time, convulsing around Spencer's length as you moan his name.
“Please, please can I cum?,” Spencer asks politely. You’d love to tease him more, but you figure it may be too much for him so you just nod. You kiss him softly.
“Anywhere you wanna finish?,” you ask. He looks immediately at your chest. You take off your tank top and bra and get on your knees for Spencer as he finishes on your chest, voice groaning your name.
“Y/N - fuck, oh my god,” His eyes are shut in pleasure and you can’t help but smile at him. When he comes down from his high and sees you stood up, looking for your clothes - he doesn’t hesitate to wrap his arms around you and pull you down to the couch. You giggle as he does.
“You did so good for me, baby. You’re such a good boy,” the praises fall from your lips with ease as Spencer mutters a flushed thank you. You reach to the table for a tissue as you wipe the cum off of your chest, making Spencer snort.
You turn around to be facing Spencer, naked bodies just holding each other. You play with Spencer's hair pressing constant kisses into his shoulders, or on his forehead. Anywhere you can get them really.
“It’s time for aftercare soon, but we can sit here a little longer if you like. Just no sleeping until we’ve showered and eaten and you’re taken care of, okay?,” you say lovingly, tucking Spencer's hair back behind his ear. He smiles at you softly, the feeling of being pampered like that holding him close.
“Hey, Y/N,” he looks at you with adoration “Will you please be my girlfriend? Cause I’m pretty sure I’m in love with you,” he says with sincerity. You can’t help but chuckle as you kiss him slowly.
“Yes, Spence, of course. I’m in love with you too, by the way,” you say back. Spencer simply smiles, hugging you tight and hoping to never let you go.
