“does this criteria apply to everyone?” sirius smiled at the boy on his lap. “or is it just because he’s your son?”

i was thinking about my dad again this morning (woah really!? whobwouldve guessed) and i remembered that growing up there was a rule that was only applied to me that was "no sore losers" and im realizing its because my dad was the youngest child and he hates his brothers to the point of being outwardly verbally homicidal about them anyways if me and my sisters were playing a game (they are 4 and 9 years younger than me) i was not allowed to be upset if i lost or express visible negativity or else i was a sore loser and would be punished, so this included any kind of games, toys, puzzles, i also couldnt ever "go first" or get the first pick, everything was always done youngest to oldest, and i also couldnt react negatively if my step brother who was specifically targeting me (nazi 4chan user vs tumblrina girl WHO WILL WIN!?) would purposefully beat me at a game or hit me in the back of the head or scare me on purpose because that counts as me being a sore loser and a bad big brother. but if i ever won or got first pick, it was free game for my sisters to punch the fucking shit or scratch me or scream at me. and if i reacted negatively i was "rubbing it in their face and then pushing them ontop of it" OR if i reacted positively to whatever happened it counted as gloating and truing to make the three of them feel bad.

so basically what im saying every situation was a lose lose situation
