"everyone say 'hi' to the vlog!!" you cheered as you walked in front of you family, spinning the camera around to get you all in view. upon your parents request (demand), you all were dressed in your sunday best. suits, or the closest to a suit nico was willing to put on, midi-length dresses for the girls. all designer, as hades wouldn't be caught dead not in designer. zeus would mock him for eons. nico threw up a middle finger that persephone was slapping away, before turning the camera with a sugary sweet smile.

"hi vlog!" she cheered, wrinkling her nose, attempting to be suave and hip, but not really getting close as nico and you cringed slightly.

"hello vlog," hades added, which had you and nico wheezing and hades desperately asking his wife what was wrong with what he said.

"youre- youre so cordial," you managed to get through you giggles, pointing the camera at hades, who puffed his chest out with a roll of his eyes.

"that would be because i'm old, my sweet girl," he huffed and you beamed a smile at him, spinning the camera onto yourself as the four of you continued down the streets of new york city.

"he's not that old," you smirked, nico snorting next to you.

"anyways, we're off to see hadestown. mom and dad haven't seen it yet and have no idea what it's about. but will took you last week, right, nico?" you asked, leaning into nico's side so he'd be in view. he nodded his head, darting his eyes away at the mention of his boyfriend.

"yup."

"awww! he's getting all blushy!! im gonna tell will-"

"go to hell, y/n-"

"been there, done that. boring!"

"hey, watch it!" hades cut in, with a glare, which you responded wit ha roll of your eyes.

"stop distracting me, im trying to vlog," you huffed, turning your eyes back to the camera with a wide smile, "obvi i can't film inside, but i will take a pic and tally every time one of us cries and whoever cries the most picks what we have for dinner."

"wait, wait. my blossom, you didn't mention this one was sad?" hades hissed to his wife, who shrugged in uncertainty but patted his forearm comfortingly. you and nico shared a knowing glance, tiny smirks playing on your lips.

"okay, okay," you whispered to your camera, bending over in your seat to hide it from the watchful eyes of security despite the fact that it was intermission, "we've hit intermission and i've only cried, like, twice. nico, the rat bastard, managed to stay strong so far. mom's cried, what, four times?"

"nah, closer to five. remember? right at the beginning?" nico whispered and you nodded in agreement before turning to the camera, laughing as you struggled to get your words out.

"but dad, gods bless his heart, he's probably cried twice for every song-"

"no, no, he cried, like, four times, during 'come home with me'," corrected nico and you discreetly tried to hide your giggles with nico, the two of you leaning into each other before persephone reached over, smacking at their arms.

"knock it off. your father is a very sensitive man and you didn't warn him this play was about us. and so sweetly written too," persephone mused to the pair, sniffing near the end, causing you and nico to point over at her.

"that's another one! you're up to five, mom!" bit back nico, clearly proud of himself as persephone glared at the pair, dabbing at her eyes with a tissue.

"it's not like it matters much, your father will certainly lose- oh, welcome back, my darling, just in time," the queen of the underworld quickly changed her tune, beaming a smile as her husband returned with drinks and snacks.

he glanced at her suspiciously but let it go as he gently presented her with some fruity cocktail he knew she'd like without needing to ask. a blush flushed across her cheeks and hades was clearly proud of himself as he continued to pass out snacks. junior mints and licorice for nico, who took it with one hand while texting will with the other. you bit your lip, trying to zoom in with the camera and see what he was saying but nico caught on quick, shoving the camera away with a huff. then hades set bag of m&m's down in your lap before ripping open his own bag. instantly, you were leaning over to his seat and inspecting his bag, nawing gently at your lip as hades glanced at you out of the corner of his eye.

"yes, princess?" he asked and you shyly smiled at him.

"could i have some?" you asked and hades frowned, looking pointedly down at the ones that rested, untouched, in your lap.

"you have some."

"they're better from your bag," you gushed and hades melted instantly, pretending to grumble as he presented the bag to you, small cheers escaping your lips as you dug your fingers in. and hades smiled despite himself, pressing a kiss to the top of your head before reaching over and ruffling nico's hair just as the play was about to continue.

the vlog abruptly jumped to a shot of your little family standing outside the theatre in visible distress. nico had his head hung back, waving at his face, trying to avoid tears that he knew will would mock him for. persephone and you were actively clinging to each other, fully sobbing in the middle of new york, mutters and gasps about being doomed by the narrative and love somewhere among the sobs. hades was in shock, tears streaming down his face, and his hands clasped in front of his lips. how he managed to get shocked by a play he lived through, he had no idea. you detangled yourself from your mother, who instantly went to her husband, who welcomed her into his arms without a second thought. you picked up your camera, sniffling as you attempted a smile while holding a thumbs up but the happy effect was lost with the black mascara running down your cheeks.

I haven’t had any questions lately but love your blog and your insights. In a video of the group photo at Milan fashion week, GG is sitting next to the older man and they are talking. I figure in some videos when GG is talking to others he has translators but it does not look like anyone from his staff is around and I was wondering if they were speaking in English or what other languages he might speak. The man he's seen talking with a lot is Diego Della Valle, the CEO of Tod's. GG has a fantastic relationship with him, and he even referred to him as yeye (grandpa) in his Vogue interview from the show.

Last time GG was in Milan Della Valle took GG on a tour of some beautiful sites around Italy - including the Colloseum in Rome -and some sites significant to the brand (the workshop, the flagship store, etc.). GG got to spend a lot of time with him, so they had plenty of opportunity to build a strong relationship.

You can tell just by his entire demeanour around GG that Della Valle adores GG. Which makes absolute sense given how cute, gracious and charming GG is. When GG arrived at the Tod's show this year Della Valle lit up like a Christmas tree.

They sat together last year at the Tod's show as well (those who missed out on last year's trip can check out my 'gg milan fashion week 2023' tag).

Anyway, you weren't asking about Della Valle, you were asking about how GG is able to communicate with him. The simple answer is that GG does have some English!

Many students in China learn English in school, although they sometimes don't get as much opportunity to speak it, so it's probably kind of like my French - I understand quite well to hear, read and write it, but my accent and pronunciation are a bit rough around the edges (that's putting it mildly 😅).

With the international travel he's done and all the elbow-rubbing he's had to do with foreign celebrities and brand stakeholders I think GG has had a lot more opportunity than the average person to exercise his language skills, so I've no doubt he's improving all the time.

He's also a huge music lover and has many times been seen singing English songs from Avril Lavigne, Ellie Goulding, Sam Smith and many more. A couple of English performances he's done in the past:

Starts at 3:22 (I'll never get over hockey player GG 🥲).

It also seems clear that GG has a general interest in languages. He knows a fair bit of Korean and he and DD are seen in The Untamed BTS speaking various languages and dialects, including English. This is also a common feature of LRLG rumors.

There are many clips to be found online of GG speaking English for ads, occasionally a few lines for drama roles, throwing in English phrases into interviews, etc. Just based those alone I think one can tell that he's got pretty good English. His pronunciation is quite good.

If you watch some of the vlogs he's posted from the international events, and some of the clips shared by brands and magazines, you can catch moments of GG having English interactions with many people at those events. One of my absolute favorites is when he's replying to a bodyguard in a vlog when he was in Florence last year (starts at 4:08).

The bodyguard is trying to teach him how to roll his r to pronounce Florence in Italian ('Firenze') and GG says, "I can't do it." The way he says it is so damn cute, I almost died when I heard it.

Anyway, so to answer your question, GG speaks in English with Della Valle and others at those events!

Silver Lining - What If #8 : Min & Kook or Busan Brothers?

Ladies, Gentlemen and Distinguished Enbies: HELLO!

How is everyone? Hope you are all enjoying this little break, if you celebrate Easter, and if for any reason you didn’t get a break either you don’t celebrate Easter, or you are part of the “holiday working class” I hope you are at least safe and serene 💜. All that said, let me tell you;

It’s incredible what a few days off can do, aye?!

For one I've been very vivid dreams and, for two, I’m actually in the mood of writing posts, would you look at that! AND BY THE WAY I keep forgetting to do this, but I will at some point later today I need to write an advisory note for the Sonyeondan Colosseum as I haven’t been there in a while but I still get aspiring gladiators, who are dying to participate, and albeit fun, at the moment, I really don't have that much time, to provide these fighters with the appropriate match they deserve 😫. So it is only right that I rely the appropriate information, as I do believe I run a fine institution and as such I am sorry for allowing my administration to slack real life suddenly got so busy and interesting that I didn’t, and still don't, have time to play, but who knows what the future holds right?! There just might appear a contender so unique, I might not resist the urge for a little tussle.

Anyways, back to the topic of this post, as it is sort of a continuation of this one → Solstice & Equinox, it is indeed about the Jikook Travel vlog we still no absolutely nothing about, but of which I woke up with thoughts/ideas about, hence, why I’ve placed this post, yet again, in my Silver Lining series 🤡. In my previous post I tried to predict the vlogs' scheduling, in this post I would like to talk about the possible style this vlog might take, while making, as always, educated guesses and also diving into JK’s filmmaking style.

⚠️I MOST LIKELY WILL WAX HELLA POETIC OVER A LOT OF FILMMAKING STRUCTURES, SO BE HELLA WARNED⚠️

Let’s start right off the bat with:

Also if you are NOT familiar with “Youtuber” Jimin, below is a little summary:

As you can probably tell by some of the ss because there are so many more, believe me!, JM is very enthusiastic about vlogging and, as we all know, JK is very enthusiastic about producing video related content as well as taking it further when he directed Life Goes On for example. Both JM and JK consume copious amounts of video content, be it movies, dramas, anime or shows and they often seem to be watching the same shows as well. Reason why, perhaps, they often seem to be the only privy of their media related inside jokes.

Now, imagine loving to watch shows so much and having as a significant other someone whom not only has so much footage/pictures of you which will never see btw 🤡 but also has the skills to potentially make a show out of you, or with you, because they also enjoy the same thing, what would you do? Sure, you like travelling and he is not too big into that, but some time 7 years ago this person not only took you on a trip, but also found the most memorable way to immortalise this for you, resulting in this person producing more and more travel vlogs. Not sure if JK has come to enjoy travelling, but one thing is for sure; 

he seems to enjoy making one helluva good vlog out of it.

Now, before we get into the reason for my title (Min & Kook or Busan Brother?) let’s look into JK’s filmmaking style THIS IS WHERE I AM SURE I WILL NERD OUT, and in order to do this we will look into two of particular videos, as I feel like their travel vlog could be a mixture of this two: 

VIDEO 1: [BTS VLOG] Jung Kook l CAMPING VLOG

VIDEO 2: G.C.F in Budapest

Let’s start from VIDEO 1. This was a series of vlogs we got from each of the members and were posted on BANGTANTV between July 9, 2022 and December 10, 2022 as always with the Tannies, the actual filming dates may or may not be close to the time they were posted. There are many different types of vlogs out there, because many are the different interests of viewers out there. When looking at our boys, you can clearly see theri vlogs divided in 3 specific types of vlogs:

“HOW TO”-vlog: In this type of video, usually the hosts want to learn to do something, and so they either attempt or they are a master in said craft to do said something, while showing the viewer step-by-step, with the intent/hope that the viewer can learn or feel inspired to want to do it as well.

JM

“CELEBRITY LIFE”-vlog: This type of video, we follow a typical/particular day in the life of a celebrity. There is usually not so much editing done, and it gives very much the feeling of watching a reality TV show.

Tae

Hobi

“TRAVEL”-vlog: These are usually specifically about showcasing cities, spaces, activities. They are very action filled, so they will not have as many static shots as, for example, the previous two themes

JK

Even though JK and Joonie have the same style of vlog, there is something that JK has, which all the other 6 don’t, which is his own “colour”.

JK has a very specific style that is unique to himself within the group, and you can notice in the editing, which makes me think he often takes part in, whereas, even though the type of vlog is different for the other 6 members, the style of editing is the same for all of them. When I say that JK adds his own colour, I mean that, for example, he so often breaks the 4th wall in very conventional and unconventional ways and this is something I've noticed only he does actually in Bangtan. 

Aside from JK’s Film Colour, I do believe that this is also an indication of how long we can hope their travel vlog to be. In the end the main event was camping, with other events as well and it was edited to 45mins, which is a long ass video for this type of vlog, it basically means that they realistically had hours of footage and at least 3 type of campers, which I will get into in my next point.

GCF in Budapest has all of JK’s colours as of 2023. 

This video is the result of 6 years during which he filmed, edited and directed different projects. GCF in Budapest is very professional, and even though he didn’t do the final edit on this, he did direct it, meaning that there wasn’t a single shot that he hadn’t planned, requested or approved of. Basically, JK is the person that instructed other camera-people the times he wasn’t filming himself as to what shot he needed and wanted for the final project, all the way from principal, to secondary, footage I DON’T THINK YOU CAN’T BUT I’M ABOUT TO NERD OUT, RIGHT NOW. Following are the notable structures in this GCF, with related explanations/examples:

Non-static self-filming - This is the typical vlog style where the main subject is filming himself. But in his case he seems to favour this type of shots when he is moving the most, as if he wants us to fill like we are really travelling with him, as opposed to constantly placing the camera on the surface, not moving, and talking. 

B-Roll Footage - is also known as “filler footage”. Usually there is no talking or nothing of importance, but they are quite good for either transitions or comic relief. I LOVE B-ROLL FOOTAGE and JK uses it so well. I believe that b-rolls fit JK so well because of his personality, he tends to space out so often that, in the filmmaking context, this type of footage offers a way to show this dimension of his personality, for example, himself goofing off in the b-roll is perhaps what he does in his head when he is spacing out in real life. 

Traditional filming - This is your typical main subject being filmed by a camera-person. As there seem to be two different angles during this type of shot, there were at least 2 different people filming him I will not go deep into the type of camera/s that were you as this is not that kind of post. 

Establishing shots - This are shots that make the viewer know where and when something is happening, and they are extremely important in film-making, but not really in vlogging as the title of the vlog already tells you where and sometimes when, if not you’ll find out in the dialog you are, but it is exactly this kind of touch that makes his work feel very cinematographic.

All the aforementioned, are characteristics that I am expecting to see in their travel blog and I am soooooo much looking forward to check our the whole crew, if by any chance we get a roll end credit scene 🥹 to be honest, going back to video 1, since they were in each known location for more than a day, they could make at least 2 self-sufficient vlogs but hey ….

JK surely came a long way from GCF in Tokyo, didn’t he? And even though he hasn’t produced a GCF with the same colours ever since, there was something that was:

To me, filming is the art of skilfully deceiving, while  willfully being deceived, during a specific amount of time, after which we all go back to our realities unharmed or “not”, depending on the depth of the film.

Films are like magic.

But what is filming for JK? To be veeeeery honest with you, the person who has a future in acting amongst the Tannies is Kim Taehyung, yet, the two people who can for sure act, on the silver-screen, are Kim Seokjin and Kim Taehyung … so why do I feel like Tae is the only only that has a future in this field? Because Tae can live for and with it. Just knowing how to act is not enough, you have to want to be an actor, for real-real. You know how Hobi breathes dancing? Tae breathes out imaginary characters in a similar way, reason why I can see him having a very prolific career as an actor as well.

Now ... why do I bring this up?

If JK just wanted to become a movie director alongside being the amazing musician he is, he’s had the perfect subject/s to do so. So why has he been so fixated with filming JM? JM is not the type of subject you can use for a long film, sure, he likes to act with his friends, but I don't think that cinema glory is one of his objectives in life I may be very wrong. He can perform/dance like hell crazy for the camera, HANDS FUCKING DOWN, but, once again, serious silver-screen acting isn’t what he wants. So, once again, given a choice of Tae and Jin;

Why JM?

TIME FOR TIN HATS Y’ALL HURRY 👏🏾 HURRY👏🏾 HURRY! 📢

I, Marengo, think that JK had always intended to make GCF in Tokyo as merely a video to preserve the happy memories, during a hard moment in their lives, which they spent together. This video-gift was specifically intended, for JM, in the style that JM mostly appreciated at the time, which might have happened to be YT vlogs. While editing his video, JK perhaps realised that it might have been a bit on the nose, so he added establishing b-roll shots of Tokyo, thinking it might have been enough to divert the attention from JM; but unfortunately failed. For a few reasons, but mainly, the lack of any spoken words in my opinion. 

The thing is that for the purposes of what i think his objective was, words were absolutely not needed. “Look! See how happy you were here! It doesn’t matter how shit things are, we can still be happy; You can still be happy!” In the same way, with Life Goes On he wanted us to see their changed everyday life of the time, the sadness, melancholy and hope they all felt. Words were not needed, and this is the type of filming which is closest to the inner colours of Jeon Jungkook. JK is not the best with words, so I believe that he found in filmmaking a form of expressing himself in a more effective way.

HOWEVER, as we all know, even though Life Goes On was well received, GCF in Tokyo’s main critique was “Where is tokyo? All I see is JM”. Yet, his main purpose wasn’t Tokyo, the shots, the song, the editing, clearly indicated that. Nevertheless, if at the time, JM was indeed his queer interest as I don’t believe they were going steady at the time, he wasn’t going to jump out gun blazing to defend his choice; was he now? No, he left us to believe that he was gonna get better, and next thing he did was add more members and better establishing shots, but never forget; gcf in Tokyo is still there and still something he remembers fondly. 

Now as for the title of this post  😂😂😂. Be it straight, queer, interrational or whatever, there is one thing that most of couple YT channels have in common:

Their channel name is either a union of their name or there is and &/and to join siad names. When JM was pretending to have a channel with JK during this live → VMINKOOK LIVE he named their channel MinKook, because he was Min and he was Kook so, MinKook and let’s forget for a second that this actually resulted to be a very funny korean pun. I honestly do believe that if you are a platonic duo on YT you will very rarely use your name with your friends name as it seems like it is a universal YT truth that “” & “” channels are couple channels. So if anything, if JM was talking out of subconscious, he maybe had been watching a lot of YT couple channels, at the time, and thought it okay for them to have a channel name that matched the same energy? … 

🤡🤡🤡

So my question is: will the channel be named something akin to that couple vibe RISKY AF, WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT?? Or will it be something more like the Busan Brothers name that they are often given … HELLA SAFE, MAKES A LOT OF SENSE? I guess only time will tell! 

Ok then, hats off! Let's go back to reality, where we can happily keep waiting for this blasted travel vlog LOL.

hey I've been listening to the yard for about a year and a half and I want to get more into it ifywim do I just start watching old vods to catch up or is there any content u can recommend as a baseline must-watch

this is by no means a comprehensive list because i've only really been watching the yard since dec 2022 and my 2021 stint in lud viewing was brief and casual (didn't know what i had) but it is a fucking long list so i'll keep it under the cut. included stuff that maybe i wouldn't classify as a must watch but i wanted to include it so you can pick and choose what interests you

PODCASTS - I know for a fact there are other podcast appearances out there that I don't know of but here are a few:

the yard x wine about it - it's just the four of them and qt which means good times! this is an essential imo

there are a few eps of fear& that they appear on! specifically rec the ep with nick and aiden and the ep with ludwig and aiden. there are also a few eps with ludwig and slime (not at the same time) if you're interested in those

i've watched aiden on three different interview podcasts all are worth a watch to me: karat interview, across the bar, and good griefed (audio a little scuffed on this one but it's cute)

fucking loved nick's ep of across the bar because his outlook on creativity is super relatable to me. he also did something with safety third that i've been meaning to watch but haven't yet!

the rivals 2 tournament is fun! i don't understand shit about fighting games but i love to see the boys play

the qt and aiden winter cocktail tierlist stream was so good like genuinely a stream of all time to me. ludwig hangs around for parts of it

please recommend some asmr channels 🙏

ok i'm going to assume you're familiar with the big names like goodnight moon (big favourite), latte, tingting and ppomo. if not...get the hell on youtube.

i almost exclusively listen to female voiced roleplays so that's going to be really obvious here.

one of my favourite channels i've ever found is moonlight cottage asmr. her voice is beautiful, intelligent and a little bit more mature and the french accent just hits. her historical videos are compelling, you can tell they're passion projects and she is quite an actress.

another definite recommend is ALB in whisperland. she has a gentle voice, her soft speaking is so good, and she has a lot of videos where she delicately does things with her beautiful hands, which i like a lot.

some more in no particular order:

-aen ani asmr. i feel like she's so underrated. she mainly does fantasy roleplays in costumes and the channel is still a bit small so you have a good chance of getting a reply or your request being included in a video. it's not like, insanely polished and high production value but i like it.

-asmr mood. speaks russian but many are subtitled in english. oftentimes has fanservice and is one of the few asmrtists (on my list, maybe even in general) who usually presumes the viewer as male. i don't care about it but it means there's no makeup videos (which i find boring). and as i've said before, when the russian language k and t sounds come out in asmr i... no, i shan't say.

-amy kay asmr. pretty much exclusively roleplays and usually has interesting concepts (ie not the 5 millionth makeup and cranial nerve exam). confident and charismatic and is a bit more peppy in the way she speaks rather than the, like, pure bedtime voices.

-eunzel asmr. korean with english subs + english spoken videos. roleplays, also weird and odd triggers. i've rewatched both of her "doctor asking you insanely personal questions" videos many times.

-bluewhisper. first asmr video i ever watched was her (sadly quickly deleted) "rescuing harambe" video which got screenshotted and i think gave her a lot of negative attention because her sense of humour is playing it completely straight and people are obsessed with being smarter than the person being ironic. she does simple roleplays, vlogs, flips through the new burpee seed catalog once a year for her garden and opens pokemon cards.

-seafoam kitten asmr. if you remember the "adorable organ harvester uwu asmr" screenshot going around, that's her. she does weird, cringe-humour roleplays. she also has a slightly risque one where you get indoctrinated into being a "love pet" puppy which i think would do numbers on here.

-myaling asmr. english with korean accent. mostly long roleplays, very sweet voice and puts great effort into having a lot of props, background detail etc. often has cinematic intros which i love. her "aesthetic school outfit styling" has probably my favourite intro scene i've ever seen in asmr.

-callie blossom asmr. she's strikingly beautiful and has a "girl who's secretly obsessed with you" series that is very popular with lesbians for good reason.

-maya winky asmr. silly, fast paced humour asmr. i feel bad not saying more but like just look at her channel lol

-mid mod meridian asmr. american accent. older lady who does 50s, 60s and 70s themed roleplays. not to be like aww sweet grandma but. yeah.

-ella asmr. korean with english subs. a lot of scifi themed videos with special effects, surgery on you and mechanical equipment sounds.

-whispering willow asmr. nice, simple, basic roleplays, usually in the 20-30 min range. i like when videos aren't too long because i usually clock out after 5 minutes anyway.

-african xhosa asmr. criminally underrated. she speaks and has a few videos teaching phrases in xhosa, a south african language with clicks that i've never even heard before. also talks about history and culture often.

-90sfairyasmr. relatively new channel with not too many videos, she mostly flips through y2k/1990s teen magazines so far.

-asmr emiko ffujio. no talking, but has cool slimes and fake cooking.

-gentle whispering asmr. a very big channel, russian accented. i like her voice and soft speaking a lot but her topics tend to bore me a bit. it's generally beauty focused.

-triniti j asmr. american accent. i havent watched a lot of hers because they're usually beauty focused, but for example in the "best friend picks out your smell goods" she gets really close to the mic and chews gum which creates a speaking sound i like a lot. idk how to describe it lol

-pelagea asmr. doesn't upload on youtube anymore but a lot of backlog. mostly more or less fanservicey videos that get a bit unintentionally silly and too much sometimes. i mainly recommend her "100 ways to kiss" video with the lesbian bait thumbnail that got her 13 million views.

now feel free to recommend ME some i don't know yet.

Today's sky was carpeted by clouds.

Positive thing: Work was not very busy, and someone complimented my dress.

I did not have a good morning, since I woke up with this horrible anxiety that had been a very long time since I had to deal with. After it passed I was pretty much exhausted, and the tiredness followed me all day. But since I had done basically everything at work I needed to last week I had very little to do today. I mostly spent my work hours translating a Japanese 逃げ恥 fanfiction and looking up stuff about 日本三鳴鳥 (the three Japanese songbirds). There's a little green bird I always see depicted alongside Japanese plum blossoms so I wanted to figure out what it was. Apparently it's called the ウグイス (Japanese Bush Warbler) and is part of the 日本三鳴鳥 which are three songbirds that Japan is famous for. They all have a distinct song. I listened to it and it does have a unique sounding cry, although I don't really know much about birds.

Well now I'm looking closer at some bird information and maybe I've been mistaking the ウグイス for the メジロ (Warbling White-Eye). Birdwatchers got it rough, man.

Anyway, I indulged in my little guilty pleasure of watching those clickbait-y Tokyo vlog videos that are like "Top 20 Things You HAVE to Do in Japan!!!!" just because I do actually find them interesting and because I think it's funny to see what (clueless) tourists get up to. I always feel bad for everyone who has to walk around their selfie-stick vlogging because, speaking from experience, they are very annoying to walk around since they're always loudly talking to themselves and not watching where they're going.

The image these kinda videos give off of Tokyo and Japan in general is always fascinating to me. I agree Tokyo especially feels very modern and whatnot, but some people go far as to be like "this is straight out of a sci-fi novel" or "people here are so advanced". I think it's easy to forget that it's full of regular people and not some exotic land of mystery, which the thought process of just feels steeped in orientalism. Having been there myself I always wonder what they must've been seeing that I didn't, or what kind of point of view they had that I simply didn't understand. To me Tokyo felt huge and bustling but also cozy in a way, like becoming one with the crowd. And away from the city it's just so peaceful, like genuinely peaceful. But I think it's cool people can notice different things and have different experiences, even if I think some of their tourist behaviors are cringey.

Tomorrow my bosses and coworkers and I (which sounds like a lot of people but it's only 5 of us total) are going to get brunch at a fancy breakfast place, and my boss is paying, so I'm excited for that. Hopefully we can leave work early too.

NOTE: so around this time jay and ivy were already dating since this is the first EN-loG that came out in August 2021. i'm assuming the boys recorded their vlogs in july or somewhere around there (after drunk-dazed promotions before tamed-dashed era). if you see cute haseong moments in here, that's the reason.

ivy goes to wave goodbye to the boys who were at home, she walks out and enters the car (with heeseung). her manager was driving her. ivy politely bows to the camera slightly.

"hello everyone, today i will be going somewhere that i've always been wanting to go!"

"i think many of you would be excited(?) to see me here since many engenes have pointed out that i resemble this animal."

"if you said it was a cat, then you are right. we are going to a cat cafe!" she hears a snort beside her. she pans the camera to heeseung.

"heeseung-shi, why are you laughing at me?"

"i wasn't laughing at you, you were just adorable." heeseung explains.

"hmm...okay. the reason why i am going to a cat cafe is to relieve stress. i miss my own cat, luna, as unfortunately she is in america right now with my family."

"anyways, we'll see you once i arrive at the cafe." she blows a kiss to the camera.

ivy arrives at the cat cafe and so she goes to take her order for drinks and cakes. she patiently waits until, a cat rubs against her legs. she grabs the camera and records the cat.

"this cat is so pretty, it's making me miss my own cat even more." ivy pouts. she goes to pet it but it jumps onto her and happily settles down on her lap.

"seems like the cat likes you." heeseung says. ivy looks over at the boy. he was scratching the cats head, it was purring softly.

"hmm i do love a man who loves cats you know." ivy smirks.

"ivy's fanboys, take note of that. ivy likes guys who love cats." heeseung tells the camera. ivy playfully rolls her eyes, she stops recording and lays her head on heeseung's shoulder.

"hee, it's been a while since we've had a proper date..." ivy turns to look at the boy.

"we're in public, angel. wouldn't want anyone to find out about us, hmm?" heeseung pecks her forehead. ivy plays with heeseung's fingers.

"okay." heeseung tilts ivy's face so he could look at her.

"you make me really weak, you know?" heeseung gives her an eskimo kiss. ivy blushes.

"i thought you said we were in public and that we could get caught."

"changed my mind. not when you look this hot." ivy shoves heeseung slightly.

"you are being a pervert."

"now, why would i be a pervert?" he leans down to her ears, "if you dressed up like this all for me. hmm?" she feels him smirking.

"i-i need to record so don't try anything." ivy warns heeseung. he chuckles.

"just teasing, vivi. i'll get us our drinks." he ruffles her hair.

ivy doesn't even realise she turned on the camera already. it records her lovingly gazing at heeseung.

it was the next day, ivy had planned to go karaoke with her friends.

"so i'm not exactly sure if i'm able to say their names but if anyone watched I-LAND, you would surely know who they are!"

bailey, aria and skye entered the frame and waved to the camera.

"this is bailey, skye and aria unnie. they were i-landers just like me. these 3 just debuted in a new girl group under HYBE as well so i will get to see them around."

"if you don't know their group name, it is CLOUD. there is i believe 4 other members in the group but i have yet to meet them. hopefully, i will be able to in the future! for now, i am here to celebrate and congratulate them on their debut with a girls day out!"

"unnie?" skye says.

"yes, skye?" ivy asks.

"aren't we supposed to turn to the right instead of left?" ivy looks down on her GPS. she sighs before turning back to the camera.

"we'll be right back. just have to locate the karaoke place."

they finally located the karaoke place and went to pay before entering the area. they bought snacks and drinks to have. ivy places the camera on the table next to the tv.

they grabbed the song picker and added it into the playlist.

"let's see if they have any enhypen songs!" bailey says. they gasp when they find drunk-dazed on it.

"they have drunk-dazed??" ivy says. bailey taps on it and the familiar melody starts playing.

"why does it sound like a folk song?" aria asks.

"don't know but aREumDApGO hwANGhOLhAE." ivy starts singing weirdly. aria and skye laughs. bailey looks over at ivy, a little concerned for her same aged friend.

ivy points to camera during her part. everyone joins in singing with her. aria takes a video of ivy before sending it to heeseung.

— caption: "what is wrong with me that day? i didn't drink at all since skye was present...and you know she's a minor."

ivy starts dancing weirdly in front of the camera.

thankfully, the staff edited the video appropriately so ivy's idol image was protected. they left the karaoke room after a lot of fun. it was quite late about 7pm so they went out to a little (this was off-camera).

they left the restaurant and ivy pulls out the camera to record them hugging and leaving. jay and their manager arrives on time. he smiles at the girls and they waved at him.

jay grabs ivy's hand and helps her into the van.

"WE SEE YOU IVY!!! TEXT THE GROUPCHAT LATER!!" aria yells. ivy laughs. the manager starts to drive after jay and ivy were settled in.

"engenes, are probably curious as to why you are here." ivy turns the camera to jay. jay laughs.

"noona promised me a late night walk since she went out with jungwon."

"he couldn't sleep, what was i supposed to do? you know jungwon deserves the world, jongseong."

"i know, he does deserve the world. i just felt sad that you didn't go with me."

"well now, you are going alone with me." ivy says.

"even better." jay flirts.

they went home first. ivy went to take a shower and changed into more comfortable clothes. once she was done, both her and jay started to walk.

"engenes, look over there. the sky at night is really pretty." ivy points out to the camera.

"noona?"

"yeah?" she turns to look at jay.

"you know what's prettier?" jay asks.

please don't say me.

"what is?" ivy says.

"engenes."

it was like she could hear the glass shatter.

"oh. you're right, engenes are way prettier." ivy smiles. "it would be great if we could bring the enhypen puppers here for a walk eventually." ivy sighs.

jay sneakily holds onto her hand. ivy blushes.

"you're right noona. it would be great."

"i wish luna was here. she would've loved the outdoors."

"then i wouldn't be able to go with you."

"well that's sad for you." ivy sticks out her tongue.

"come here, give me the camera. engenes, can get a good girlfriend shot of you." jay says.

"you're right."

"here engenes, you are now jay or well jay is engene now."

"you are always my bias, noona." jay says behind the camera.

"lies. you said jungwon was your bias."

"engenes, always say that too but they don't really stay loyal huh."

ivy notices it was getting quite late.

"we should head back, we have a schedule tomorrow."

"mmm, want me to take pictures of you before we get back?"

"sure."

and so jay took pictures of her. the video ends off with a few montages of her and jay walking around the park and fooling around. off-camera, ivy and jay had a mini date. they held hands and jay even snuck in a kiss when no one was around.

it was great night for both ivy and jay.

Updates.

There have been so many things going on in the past month or so and I've thought about writing them down plenty of times, just that I'd get overwhelmed by their sheer volume that I didn't know where to start. But I'll start anyway.

With the reopening of the international border, I'm seeing my work volume increasing to a quarter of what it used to be before. I'm not juggling three full-time jobs yet, but now that I'm in my late 30s, I'm not sure I have the capacity for that anymore. Anyway, I'm just thankful that I have extra articles to write again.

My church bulletin writing quota, which was previously set to two articles per year, has also doubled. I'm very thankful for this opportunity to contribute more. This time, I don't care if anyone ever reads my articles. I'm just happy that I get to serve.

My recent dive trip two weekends ago reminded me again that I'm super lucky that I hadn't had to pay for any of my dives since I first got my license in 2008. Each and every dive that I did (I think there have been over 50 now) had been for an article and seeing how expensive scuba diving is, I'm so thankful to have been able to do it for free for as long as I have.

Also, I think I've gotten past the 'white belt' season of CrossFit in which I'd treat every class or training session as a chance to max out my efforts and try for a PR. I was watching a vlog featuring Games athlete, Gabi Migala recently where she was about to do some back squats and when asked about what number she's hoping to hit, she replied that she's just going to decide what number should be the heaviest for that day according to how her body feels, instead of looking to PR the lift.

I find that concept to be rather refreshing. Until recently, I didn't understand the concept of quality reps of quality lifts, often I just wanted to find out how hard I could go and how heavy I could lift. Probably why I often felt FOMO when I missed training anyway. But I understand now that there are good days and there are bad days. There are days when I should stop at 80% because that's just my heaviest lift that day.

I understand now that there's always tomorrow. No reason to kill yourself prematurely.

My priorities have also changed greatly this past month. I used to be dead set on doing the physiques competition since last year -- until it was repeatedly postponed. I was giving too much effort into something that doesn't give that much payback in return. Today, I just want to get back to work and do them well.

If I want to compete, I'd want to be competing for a journalism award again. Writing is something that I'm already good at and I've already won an award before, so it makes more sense to pour more effort into it. Plus, the prize money is way bigger.

Overall, I'm excited about how the rest of this year will turn out. I can't wait to get my hands dirty with proverbial ink, writing. And occasionally, I'd still go lift and hope I'd still get to hit a 70kg clean by December.

Goals for the New Year (aka Me 2024)

Last year, I created a list of goals/resolutions that I wanted to accomplish, but I don't think I ever posted them here on Tumblr. As a result, I can't really do a post-mortem like I did in 2022, 2021 and 2020.

But that's ok because I don't really feel like doing a breakdown of what I accomplished and didn't accomplish this year anyway. Partially due to laziness, and partially due to the fact that this year has been a doozy -- to say the least.

Needless to say, I managed to weather the storm pretty well because I'm still standing. And although I'm still trying to sort out what comes next on a grander scale (::cough:: finding a new job ::cough::), I want to remember that life isn't all about my career.

Every tarot reading I've watched for Pisces on what to expect in 2024 seems to be mostly positive. But I am a firm believer in the balance of shadow and light, so I'm sure both will find me in the Year of the Dragon.

Ultimately, I am grateful for the year I've had, despite its twists and turns. I managed to squeeze a lot of living in between the moments of constant change. And life is still giving me moments of joy, even if I may not always deserve it.

I've noticed Woo interacting more with Yuta in recent content. However, I still think he is straight, so there is no "gives a chance" with such a view of mine. Didn't notice anything unusual or sus in the vlog as well (exept for 21:29 hand on neck).

Do is a natural chattermouth. Jungwoo seems to me to be less talkative. Woo feels the need to create content though, to talk about something. Like during an MV recording or a photoshoot he will comment the most (about nothing, really). SM finds non-idol jobs for their artists, Woo is trained as MC and a variety persona. Jaehyun doesn't bother with content. He serves looks, lol. He is aiming to be singer-songwriter and a moody actor.

Either Jae was sleepy or didn't feel himself too well. He barely ate, and looked off a few times. Maybe a stomack or head acke. Do even pushed him to eat more (8:22 he says the meat is very warm looking at Jae). Thus he was even less withdrawn than usual.

Good morning! This is the first time I am waking up at 5. I sort of enjoy waking up this early it's in the middle of being a midnight junkie and an early bird. I'm not gonna lie, my body does not like being up this fucking early, but this is my challenge for the rest of the week. My mind likes it and is still waking up. I want to make coffee. You know your girl does not eat or breathe coffee. It's still early, I don't care. My true self comes from writing this shit out. I want to eventually incorporate comedy eventually in my work. Tumblr is usually my output. Or is it called that? Input? I take angy out is what I am trying to say. I almost didn't want to wake up. I almost considered waking up at 6 which is in 6 minutes. I am still yawning. I drank almost a whole bottle already compared to yesterday when I couldn't really drink any. I hope that is a good thing. If I had a treadmill or a gym in my room, I think I would be walking on it right now to wake me up cuz at work that's what I do.

Anyways, indigenous day. HAPPY MF INDIGENOUS DAY! Honestly, I am happy for the steps our people are taking. It was just last year, I believe, when they had it start being that instead of that other name. You know, before he inflated our shit. I'm not political, but I'm just throwing anything around. I really really hope my blogs do not affect any part of my being towards the near future because I CAN be very blunt with things especially when I know I am a nobody. This is too damn early for a body whose mind thought "itch me violently" the night before. I'm still learning so I think many shit are interesting. Do I think indigenous day was a good thing? Absolutely fucking yes, but I think they used that shit to pacify things that were going to get worse especially Alaskans was that inflation. This gave 9/11 vibes. Not exactly the same, but I don't matter so throw that shit in the rest of the conspiracy pile like the rest of my damn blogs. It makes me wonder what our, YES OUR, principal in the local school has planned for today. I was told she was supposed to be gone yet is still lingering around. Hire me dammit. Writing by myself has been what I am yet since I posted that I do post on my tumblr, the anxious feeling of having someone read my shit is just absolutely fucking terrifying because as a fellow Capricorn, I do not take criticism easily. I'm putting him first cause he's the most recent and the most obvious. I can never explain why I love his streams so much but, like Tommy said on the "Banter" podcast, I could just watch him play with a deck of cards and be satisfied

He's the first ever person I could say was a "confort" for me. I've been following him since 2014-2015 and have been a fan ever since. He stood out the most to me at that time; between making gaming stuff and random skits with Cyndago, he was just very entertaining and always seemed so genuine

Ok, here's the thing, I don't actually remmeber how I came upon Freddie. Either I was watching a Tommy vlog where he was in or that one video where Tubbo and Tommy took over one of his streams. Anyway, love him/plat and I just love to see man that are so comfortable with themself that they can put on make up and dresses

The first time I ever heard of him was when he went on "Try Not To Laugh" on Smosh w/ Slimecicle and the other one that we do not name. But I didn't actually watch his videos until last month and oh god have I been missing out. For some reason I can't stop watching the "The Accidental 400mg Edible" and "What Liquid Works Best in Cereal"

After getting into the fandom because of Karl I got recommend a lot of Sapnap videos. I remember that the first ever video that I watched of him was the "Minecraft, But Everytime I Get Damage, I Get Shocked". The amouth of laughs I had during that video I will mever have ever again

The first few video of her that I watched were of her transforming Undertale or FNAF characters into the Sims. She's just so friendly and funny and I love to see her videos

❝ Game Theory ❞

I was lead to him because of FNAF and I'm staying because of his many theories. They're entertaining to watch and I remember that when I used to go to school I'd watch one of his videos every morning, so it's very nostalgic

❝ Technoblade ❞

He's another one that I really can't explain why I like. He's a natural at everything he does and I'm a sucker for SBI so :)

❝ Akidearest ❞

She's not that well known unless your an anime fam, but her boyfriend did a few collabs with Pewdiepie. I've been watching her for 5 years now, which weirdly surprises me too. She now posts more video about Japan then anime ones, but I still watch them cause I love them
