If it is “anti” a character or ship, it should also be tagged “anti (insert character or ship)” so people’s filters prevent them from seeing it, but it isn’t the case that people aren’t allowed to post negative content there. That isn’t some scheme to “circumvent” anything, it’s how all sides of the fandom have used the tags for as long as I’ve been active. Now you can even filter the content of the post, so it’s up to you to turn the filters on.

disclaimer: these are literally just my favorite Bakugou ships, as asked. I have few to no NOTPs, and I’m not anti-anything, nor do I have any opinions on whether or not any of these will or should become canon (as it really makes no difference to me, since I ship them all platonically as well). basically I have no skin in the “shipping somehow has winners and losers” game. I’m just here for the emotional energy and the lulz and the character development.

anyways this is a top six because I couldn’t bear to leave either of my two favorite rarepairs out whoops.

BakuDeku - like you said anon, not a surprise lol. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; for me, these two are the core of the series. honestly it sometimes strikes me as ironic that this ship is so often written off as abusive or unhealthy or toxic, because I often find myself thinking that roughly 90% of all of Bakugou and Deku’s problems could be sorted out just by them communicating with each other. and I don’t mean just their own specific relationship problems -- I mean all of their problems. Bakugou is having an emotional crisis about something? have him talk to Deku. Deku’s overwhelmed by a problem and way overthinking it? have him talk to Bakugou! they balance each other out, is the thing. when one of them veers off course, the other is the compass to steer them back on track. that’s the power of rivals!! and aside from that, this relationship is just so complex, and I am weak for absolutely all of it. it’s just this perfect blend of push and pull and friction and trust. it’s the type of ship where the two of them have such a strong connection that it’s like gravity; they can’t help but orbit the other, even when that orbit is sometimes unsteady. it’s just such a powerful bond and just... guh. I have way too many emotions about it so I am just going to STOP NOW and move on to the next ship.

TodoBaku - so by now we have reached a point where pretty much everyone in class 1-A is an expert on handling Bakugou, and ngl, it’s my favorite thing ever. but what makes the TodoBaku relationship so especially appealing is that Shouto is completely unafraid to just step right up and declare his friendship to the entire world. Todoroki “I’m calling it like it is” Shouto, who, after giving the matter careful consideration, correctly judged himself and Bakugou to be the closest of friends, and thus decided that they should intern together and he should introduce him to his family and get his sister to cook his favorite foods. and the entire time, Bakugou is all “please no one listen to this delusional freak, we are not friends at all,” even as he proceeds to get himself involved in all of the Todoroki family drama, and saves Shouto’s brother’s life, and learns all of his sister’s recipes, and presumably cries himself to sleep at night wondering how he could have let this happen.

Kacchako - what I like about Ochako’s relationship with Katsuki is that she’s one of the few people who’s not afraid to call him out on his shit. she’s not just warmly tolerant of him like some of the others; she has expectations of him, and will unabashedly express her sound disappointment if he fails to be the person she knows he’s capable of being. I feel like Ochako has no patience for him taking his sweet time with his character development, and is just “goddammit young man, just sort your shit out with Deku already and go back to being best friends like you both so clearly want, and while you’re at it please try to treat other people less like garbage”, and various other things that are all true but that he of course hates to hear, but TOO BAD lol. anyway so I love that, and I love that she’s just as stubborn as he is. and I also love that there’s genuine, mutual respect between the two of them as well. never forget that Katsuki is the one who first brought out Ochako’s homicidal badass side. anyway so they basically complement each other very well, and I have my fingers crossed that one of these days Horikoshi will decide to actually have them interact with each other again because damn.

KiriBaku - Kirishima, on the other hand, is warmly tolerant of Bakugou, and openly admiring of him even, but it tends to be in a way that brings out Bakugou’s best qualities. Kiri just has this way of bringing out Bakugou’s confidence in himself. like, he’s very good at saying precisely the right words to make Bakugou grin that smirky little grin of his, the one that’s all “oh yeah, that’s right, I’m a badass.” and seeing as Bakugou, for all his pride and bluster, is surprisingly prone to having mini crises of confidence, this is a valued skill that I’m very grateful to Kiri for having! and what’s nice is that Bakugou is very good at returning the favor, since Kiri is prone to crises of confidence as well. the little flashback right before Kiri unveils Unbreakable for the first time is one of my favorite moments in the series. when this ship is firing on all cylinders they really bring out the best in each other. and also they are both dumb bros which is an extremely undervalued dynamic. I love it when Bakugou is all “HEY KIRISHIMA LET ME BLOW YOU UP A BIT” and Kiri is just like “YEAHHHH!” heh.

KamiBaku - and now for the first of the two rarepairs! first of all I would just like to state that I absolutely cannot fathom why KamiBaku is a rarepair to begin with, unless it’s simply because everyone is already too obsessed with the previously mentioned ships. but at any rate it’s a damn shame, because the cuteness of this ship is off the fucking charts, and right now it’s all just going to waste. what I adore more than anything about this ship is the way Bakugou tolerates every single fucking thing Kaminari does and LETS HIM GET AWAY WITH IT. he lets him call him “Kacchan.” he lets Kaminari manhandle him into various getups (the A Band shirt; the Santa outfit) on multiple occasions while putting up absolutely no fight. he basically allows him an almost unprecedented level of closeness, which Kaminari proceeds to BLATANTLY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF at every turn seemingly unchecked! and he is the all time champ at tricking Bakugou into participating in social interactions (tying the ribbon to his foot during the Christmas gift exchange, telling him he won’t get any food at the New Year’s feast if he doesn’t help cook, etc.). he just loves him and wants him to be included. honestly this one of the most adorable relationships in the entire goddamn series and I am tired of it being slept on. the people deserve more KamiBaku dammit.

IidaBaku - last but not least, a relationship between two people who I’m pretty sure have only actually interacted with each other a handful of times, and most of those times involved them shouting at each other! ah, yes. the stick in the mud and the delinquent. god’s natural enemies. except that in this case the “delinquent” is a star student who tutors other kids and goes to bed every night at 8:30, and the stick in the mud once hatched a legitimate plot to kill a man. what I am trying to say is that these two are actually WAY more alike than they would ever care to admit, and I’m kind of obsessed with it?? this is one of those ships where all it would take is one well-applied trope and the possibilities are endless. you could literally just pick one out of a hat. fake dating, roommates, only one bed, undercover as lovers, WHATEVER. and not only does this have the potential to be the most hilarious ship in the history of time, but it also has potential to be disarmingly, shockingly sweet, I shit you not. there are a couple of little moments in the light novels that I absolutely adore, where they’re each taking care of the other with the other having absolutely no idea. Iida makes about four attempts to tuck Bakugou in during the forest training camp arc because his covers have fallen off and he doesn’t want him to catch a chill, and Bakugou unknowingly returns the favor by preventing Iida from stumbling across the preparations for his own surprise birthday party before the others are finished getting ready. by shoving Iida into an elevator and ordering him to go back to his room with absolutely no explanation given lmao. anyway, but the point is the potential is definitely there for cuteness and chemistry and mutual respect while arguing nonstop like an old married couple.

so there you go! honestly Bakugou somehow has chemistry with just about everyone in his class, which is super impressive for someone with the personality of a rabid wolf spider. god bless him.

I am really done with the TW fandom. I mean, this post isn’t about ALL fans of Teen Wolf but the majority have just ruined my experience in this fandom. Keep in mind that these are my opinions which I’m sharing and not a personal attack on anyone. So here’s why I’m fed up with both the fandom and even the show to an extent:

1) The hatred towards Scott McCall is just appalling. I genuinely can’t think of a reason why anyone would hate this precious ray of sunshine who is always trying to protect everyone. Like is a 16 year old and doesn’t know everything about being a werewolf the second he was bitten? *Lol, he’s so ‘dumb’.* Doesn’t immediately trust Derek because he has no reason to? *Poor Derek Scott is such a 'meanie’* Doesn’t abandon Allison the moment Derek tells him to because the latter is a stranger and Allison doesn’t even know about her family being hunters? *Everything is Scott’s 'fault’.* Makes a masterplan to defeat Gerard and save everyone? *Fandom shrugs and continues to make everything about Stiles* His ex girlfriend dies in his arms? *Fandom cries a tear and moves on to fawn on Void! Stiles* Saves everyone in the show, becomes the true alpha from the merit of his character *Fandom closes its eyes and fawns over one liners that Stiles threw* Literally dies and is attacked by his best friend for not saving his father when he was DEAD? *Poor Stiles, Scott is such a bad friend. Why can’t he just do everything according to how Stiles wants him to? Who cares that even Stiles himself trusted Theo and confided in him only about having to kill Donovan and never clarifies to Scott that he did it in self defense.* Like I can go on and on about how much of Scott’s trauma and pain are shrugged off because of fandom’s obsession with Stiles and even the show makes it appear as if it was Scott’s fault somehow that he died and couldn’t save Stiles’ father. I’m so tired. Tyler Posey was so good at playing Scott and his performance is ignored by 99.99% of the fandom.

2) KIRA YUKIMURA DESERVED BETTER! She was treated so badly by both the fandom AND the show! People were continually comparing her and Allison even though Allison was okay with Scott moving on and even teamed up with Kira in 'De- Void’ episode. And why can’t Scott move on? Allison wouldn’t have wanted Scott to mope over her forever. And Kira’s story and character development are thrown in trash and she isn’t even mentioned in season 6! Like, I’m not mad that she chose herself over Scott because it’s okay but they could have spent AT LEAST five minutes to talk about Kira and where she was and how she was doing. And the fandom’s unwarranted dislike of her even though the show had made it clear that she isn’t Allison’s 'replacement’ or whatever reasons people use to justify their hatred of her. Like she is a sweetheart, her relationship with Scott was cute and healthy and she doesn’t deserve any hate thrown towards her. Arden Cho portrayed her so well and I hate that she was treated like this by both fandom and writers of the show.

3) Malia Tate is treated so badly by the fandom that even I was surprised by the venom hurled towards her. Malia spent eight years as a coyote, so obviously she doesn’t know how to handle complex human emotions that even teenagers struggle with. And she does better than expected . She is not an 'unsupportive’, 'abusive’ girlfriend that toxic Stydia (i.e. not ALL stydia shippers, only the toxic ones) shippers make her out to be. She even figured out that Stiles had killed Donovan in self defense and said she didn’t judge him for it. And what did she get in return? She was ditched by her boyfriend for her efforts. And no, it’s not toxic that she was jealous of Lydia and Stiles because she was just dumped and wasn’t given closure over it, so obviously she isn’t going to be okay that her boyfriend was moving on so quickly. Like it’s not ideal but it’s not the worst thing. And even if you don’t ship stalia, you have no reason to hate on her. Just ship your ship and leave others who don’t agree with your personal opinion alone.

I haven’t even scratched the tip of the iceberg but these were the only ones that came to my mind. The blatant sexism and racism from the fans really saddens me and I wouldn’t be so mad if actors like Tyler Posey, Arden Cho, Shelley Hennig etc.. weren’t hated on for doing their literal jobs. Like, I’m not telling you to hate Stiles or Derek (which is impossible as it is when it comes to TW fandom) or tell you to stop shipping Sterek and Stydia (There’s nothing wrong with the ships inherently but I wish its stans weren’t so hell bent on making everything in TW about their ship). Only that you stop hating poc, female characters for no valid reasons and stop excusing your white faves’ problematic actions because they cried about it once or whatever. Like no wonder why white men are able to get away with the worst shit while poc and women suffer for no fault of theirs and hated on for things they can’t control; like their race or gender.

On the rating of 10, how do you rate the writing of each legacies characters, why and who deserves better? What aspects should be improved?

I updated some of the opinion for clarity and also added Finch because I forgot her originally

I'll just make a list and go down it and I'm sorry in advance I love responding but I'm horrible at grammar/punctuation and also I might tend to ramble but I'll try to be as concise as possible. It should also be noted anything I state that might possibly relate to ships is a personal opinion and I have nothing against any ships/characters gay or straight/Good or Evil. However would it be said that I definitely mean more towards the gay/Badass with a Golden heart side of shipping with any fandom.

Hope Mikaelson- As of now I would rate her writing at about a 6. And I only say that because as we know a majority of her characters personality slightly has always but this season especially related to her relationship with Landon. And I wish we would see the Badass Tribrid Hope we've been promised since season 1 I mean sure there are no lack of examples of her bravery and martyrdom. But I am tired of her always feeling down on herself and like she's a cosmic mistake when it has literally been proven by Lizzie's wish in season 1 that their life would be infinitely shittier without her. What they can do to improve it is have her focus on friendship and herself instead of trying to always focus on Landon. She deserves more than just to be a boy obsessed character I mean she's the daughter of Klaus F****** Mikaelson for Pete sakes she literally descends from the most powerful supernatural family ever to exist and is rightfully the most powerful being on the f****** planet.

Note: I found Handon's relationship cutesy in season 1 but now not so much especially since they use him dying as a plot line way too often it just doesn't have the same effect that used to***

Josie Saltzman-As of now I would rate her writing at about an 8. I like how her character at least for a while had her own storyline going off the mystic falls High School plotline and how she lived with delena because it was a good call back for us TVD fans but I think it could have definitely lasted longer than a few episodes. We all know it was just used as a lot device to introduce Ethan as a series regular and as an introduction for her to Finch's character. But overall I feel throughout the seasons she has experienced at least some personal growth as exhibited even in 3x15 where she admitted she has to stop saying sorry especially to Lizzie for not always jumping to do what she needs / she wants all the time. Whereas before Android AU version aside because she literally had to do what she was programmed to do. She has an exhibited that she's starting to do what she needs to do for Josie before others most of the time or she's trying to. And as far as her relationship to Finch well I don't see them being endgame I have no problem with them and I do see Finch being one of her major loves of the series that teaches her whatever lesson she needs that leads her to whoever her endgame love is. With her relationships I will always miss Posie and I wish they could get Lulu back at least just for one episode. Also I feel these last two episodes of the girls being a trio they have a really Been serving Hosie with the looks but also I feel like in general Josie and Hope have been really in f****** tune. In conclusion I just don't know because Kaylee's acting skills and just turning general I would rate a billion she could choke me and I would literally thank her.

Lizzie Saltzman-as of now I would rate her at about a 7. I feel as if she has had great personal growth over the series and hell even this season. I also like hell despite everything in her life especially her eternal struggle with her mental illness she is always trying to do better and not just for herself but mainly for others and some people would say that's not good but I like it because it truly shows what she stated in 1x03 during the gargoyle incident that she never wants to be the bad or evil one. She has all this s*** thrown at her being called broken, being seen as the lesser than sister, and not to mention the absentee parents. Yet through all this she manages to only get stronger especially once she builds a genuine friendship with hope. However what I will say is that I don't like the regression of her friendship with Hope in correlation to her progress of especially her mental illness. And what I mean by that is it's almost been shown that once she had even the seeds of a true friendship with Hope that Hope would never give up on her hell not but like even an episode or two into their newly formed friendship in S1 Hope went to Josie when she Lizzie was on the verge of a bad episode and "sweet" Josie was basically like fuck her she needs to fall on her ass for once and Hope ass was appalled y'all she was like Lizzie can't control her brain chemistry and was so defensive/protective it's like once they got over that hurdle that mainly Josie gave them everything clicked into place and they were almost instant bff's. So for them to do so good in season 2 and then it seems like it showed especially in these last several episodes black magic incident to bring Landon back aside that Lizzie's old issues of resentment and jealousy towards hope are starting to come back and I don't like that because the more Lizzie had A Friend in Hope it seems like the better she got at coping and doing better mentally.(sorry if this has been a confusing several sentences). And no by that I do not mean that Lizzie is mental progress has solely relied on Hope but I do think it has helped significantly for her to have a true friend. Also let it be noted now out of every ship though I should Hosie too HIZZIE is my #1 ship on Legacies two phenomenally beautiful woman also the enemies to friends to lovers trope *chef's kiss*which might be plausible as I always wondered what they meant in the Hosie crush confession scene of season 1 when Josie said that she always went after everybody josie liked hinting that Lizzie might be at least bisexual or maybe that was just what Josie perceived at like 12/13 years old. Also on the note of relationships Mizzie was a cute concept at the beginning but I do love the fact that MG is finally finding himself and standing up for himself but he did also do it and I kind of a******-ish way towards Lizzie. And that's all I can say for her. Actually I could probably write a novel on this women and also Hizzie but I won't lol.

Alaric Saltzman- As of now I would give him a rating of like a 4 . In the last several episodes I think he's been trying to make progress at being a better person but that's about all I can say I'm not an anti. But he definitely will not be winning the father of the year award anytime soon and like many people have pointed out he was a great guardian to Elena and Jeremy so he has the potential in parenting he obviously just ain't using it or lost it over the decades. I don't hate him but I do believe they're doing a discredit towards the better man he was in The vampire Diaries especially at the beginning.

Landon Kirby-His writing is like a 3. He is just there to be arm candy for hope. Until the last couple episodes where he became this for once realistic not optimistic hardened badass he literally brought nothing to The season other than someone for Hope to obsess over. And to be someone that they repeatedly kill for shock value even though it literally shocks no one anymore. I don't hate his character but he doesn't tickle My Fancy as much anymore. His character has a lot of potentialy especially if they ever bring back in his Phoenix side and truly explore it beyond his almost endless ability to revive and being a "Bird Boy" lol. I mean truthfully they're doing him a disservice Aria is a phenomenal actor who could take his character places if they just let him be more than a basic ass plot device. Also can we talk about how gorgeous of a man Aria is especially in these last few episodes looking love it and fine as f***.

As it has become apparent to me I ramble too much and I just don't have the capacity as it is now almost 1:00 in the morning my time to do anymore characters in depth so I will be doing a simple excerpt for the rest now that I have done the main 5 people.

Kaleb Hawkins- His writing is a 8. I do like how he's coming to himself over the years and is a a right hand man to Alaric now instead of being just a uncontrollable vampire(the only hate on this part not towards Kaleb but Alaric is that it shows he will virtually mentor/uplift almost any teen that ain't his own daughters). Though in my opinion he always kind of had a point on some things especially about the hypocrisy of Alaric in season 1 especially on the bmood drinking thing. Him and Mg's relationship is awesome I'm glad they made up in the last episode and our brothers again. Also I was rooting for him and Cleo I think they would be a cute little couple. Also I need his backstory immediately especially after saying to Cleo the last time he was vulnerable he died I need to know how he turned.

Milton Greasley(MG)- His writing is a 9 the season. I say that because he is really came into his own and stopped being the punching bag. Though I think the idea or used to think at least that him and Lizzie would be cute together I am proud of him for standing up to Lizzie finally even though I liked him always being there for her I was tired of him being a fallback for her when it didn't work with whoever however I do think he could have went about the rejection a little bit gentler especially with how he knows of Lizzie's emotional problems. And don't even get me started on Alyssa that was just a disaster that should have never even been brought to fruition her cheating with Jed was probably the best thing that could have happened. I liked his little side adventure with Ethan though I do think they could have wrote it a little better I was sad when he had to compel the memories away like they still could have been friends he just couldn't have known about the supernatural stuff also I'm still not convinced Ethan won't become supernatural later in the series if he stays on. And that's all I have to say on that one love my baby.

Jed Tien-His writing I can't really give a writing I don't think it's horrible but I do think overall they could give him a better plot line as a series regular other than just being used for the comical relief eye candy/mentioning how he's the alpha. Though it was funny the whole pool tournament to decide who was alpha will Finch was just exactly that so bad it was laughable. However I do respect the fact that he even admitted to her that he knew she threw the game and that he is a genuine man of his word and has become better over the series from like this dumb jock stereotype to this genuine dude the Alyssa incident aside. He is a cinnamon roll and I will protect him at all cost.

Ethan- Again as he just became a series regular this season and barely showed up in his premiere season. I will not be rating him in any traditional sense. His writing is not totally horrible I liked his adventures with mg they could have been written better and they still could have let him be MG's friend without supernatural knowledge instead of compelling the friendship completely away. And I am still not convinced he will not become supernatural in some way depending on how long he stays in the series truthfully it's actually almost inevitable unless they go the whole route of making him the Matt/Token Human of the show which I really hope they don't I mean he can stay human but don't make him a supernatural hater.

Cleo-her writing is 10. I say that because she has been a phenomenal character and I've never seen the actress before but she is obviously phenomenal as well. I like her whole connection to Malivore and how it's a legitimate one that seems to be interwoven with the story that's already been presented and add something new. I also like how she tried and really wanted to genuinely be friends with all the characters especially hope but at the same time she was also very realistic and new probably and truthfully the only way for Malivore to be defeated was for Hope to Go full Tribrid and she wasn't above actually trying to murder hope to save herself and just get rid of Malivore which I can't blame her.

Malivore-after the end of season 3 / the first couple episodes of season 4 which were supposed to be the original ending to season 3 I better never hear the name again I am so tired of it this should have ended like at least a season ago at this point it's dragging on. This was supposed to be a monster of the week type of series which is okay me personally I have always appreciated having one big bad of the season and then a couple of minor baddies that get their characters arcs and take a few episodes to defeat or something as like a B or C plot. Point being is that this character and plot line has gotten stiff as can be. To be honest I think half of us aren't even here for plot line anymore we just want to see which of our ships get together.

Finch-I am loving her character and I do think she's cute with Josie. Also I stan anyone who is a sarcastic b**** Queen. I think it's nice how her will backstory was different than the traditional one but also I hated how sad it was like she literally didn't even know what she was doing. Though I will say calling Lizzie the "evil" twin that she can fight me because you don't talk about my blonde cinnamon roll like that is based on one impression from something that was only meant and done out of a good place and Lizzie's heart trying to find out her backstory. But other than that I have no real qualms with this character and it is too early to have a real in-depth analysis/opinion of her.

on fujoshi and fetishization

Lately, more and more, both here on tumblr and on other sites, I keep seeing people spew unfiltered hatred at fujoshi - that is, women who like mlm content such as gay fanfic and fanart featuring men with other men. And I don’t mean like a specific type of fujoshi, like the ones who are genuinely being weird about it, but just like a general hatred for girls (but especially straight identifying girls) who express love for gay romance.

I hate to break this to you all, but women (including straight women!) actually are allowed to like mlm fanfiction and fanart, even enthusiastically so. A woman simply expressing her love of gay fanfic, even if it is in kind of a cringey way or a way that you personally don’t like, is NOT automatically fetishization.

I’ve been on the receiving end of fetishization for my entire life, from a very young age, as many black and brown folx have, so I consider myself pretty well acquainted with how it works. Fetishization isn’t just like, being really into drawings of boys kissing, or whatever the fuck y’all are trying to imply on this god forsaken site. 

Fetishization is complicated imo, and can encompass a lot of things, such as (but not limited to):

1 - dehumanization, e.g. viewing a group of people as sexual objects who exist purely for entertainment purposes, rather than acknowledging them as actual people who deserve respect and rights

and

2 - projecting certain assumptions onto said people based on their race/sexuality/whatever is being fetishized. These assumptions are often, but not always, sexual in nature (like the idea that black people in general are more sexual than other races, etc etc etc).

I’m going to use myself as an example to illustrate my point. Please note this isn’t the best or most nuanced example, but it is the most simplistic. A white person finding me attractive and respectfully appreciating my black features as part of what makes me beautiful is not, on its own, fetishization. A white person finding me attractive solely or mostly because I’m a PoC is now in fetishization territory. Similarly, assuming I’m dominant because of my blackness (like saying “step on me mommy” and shit like that) is hella fetishistic. 

That being said, theres definitely a difference between how fetishization works in real life with real people, and how it shows up in fandom. 

Fetishization manifests in many different ways in fandom, but most commonly on the mlm side of things, I personally see it appear as conservative (or centrist) women who love the idea of two men together, but don’t actually like gay people, and don’t necessarily think LGBT+ people deserve rights (or “special treatment” as its sometimes dog whistled). These women view queer men as sexual objects for entertainment rather than an actual group of people who deserve to be protected from systemic oppression. I’ve noticed that they often don’t even think of the men they “ship” together as actually being gay, and may even express disgust at the idea of a character in an mlm ship being headcanon’d gay. In case its not obvious, this is pretty much exactly the same way a lot of cishet men fetishize lesbians (they see “lesbian” as a porn category, rather than like, what actual LGBT people think of when we read the word lesbian). There’s a pretty popular viral tweet thread going around where someone explains seeing this trend of conservative women who like mlm stuff, and I have also personally witnessed this phenomenon myself in more than one fandom. 

The funny thing is, maybe its just me buuuut.... The place I see this particular kind of fetishization happen most is not in the anime/BL fandom, from which the term fujoshi originates - I actually see these type of women way way more in western fandom spaces like Supernatural, Harry Potter, and Hannibal. I can’t stress this enough, there’s a shocking amount of people who are like, straight up trump supporters in these fandoms. If you want to experience it, try joining a Hannigram or Destiel group on facebook and you will probably encounter one eventually especially if you happen to be living through a major historical event. Like these women probably wouldn’t even be considered “fujoshi”, because that term doesn’t really apply to them given they aren’t in the BL/anime fandom, yet they’re the ones I personally see actually doing the most harm.

Of course this isn’t the ONLY kind of fetishizing woman in the mlm/BL world, there are other ways fetishization shows up, but this is the most toxic kind that I see.

A girl just being really into BL or whatever may be “cringe” to you, or she may be expressing her love for BL in a “cringey” way, but a straight woman really enjoying BL is not, on its own, somehow inherently fetishization. Yes, sometimes teenage girls act kind of cringe about how much they like BL and that might be annoying to you, but its not necessarily ~problematic~. 

That being said, IT NEEDS BE REMARKED that a lot of the “fujoshi” that you all hate so deeply, are actually closeted trans men or nonbinary people who haven’t yet come to terms with their gender identity, or are otherwise just NOT cishet. I know because I was one of these closeted people for years, and I honestly think tumblr and the cultural obsession around purity is one of the many reasons I was closeted so deeply for so long. STORYTIME LOL!!! In my early adolescence, I was a sort of proto “fujoshi”. I identified as a bi girl who was mostly attracted to men, or as most (biphobic) people called it, “practically straight”. I wrote and read “slash” fanfic and looked at as well as drew my own fanart. We didn’t use the term fujoshi back then, but that’s definitely how I could have been described. I was obsessed with yaoi, BL, whatever you want to call it, to a cringe-inducing degree. I really struggled to relate to most het romances, so when I first discovered yaoi fanfics (as we called them at the time), I fell in love and felt like I finally found the type of romance content that was made for me. I didn’t know exactly why, I just knew it hit different. LGBT+ fanart and fanfiction brought me an immense amount of joy, and I didn’t really think too hard about why.

At some point, in my early 20s, after reading lots of discourse™ here on tumblr and other places like twitter, I started to get the sinking feeling that my passion for gay fanfiction was ~problematic~. I had always felt a sense of guilt for being into mlm content, because literally anyone who found out I liked BL (especially the men I dated) shamed me for liking it all the fucking time (which btw is literally just homophobic, like can we talk about that?). In addition to THAT bullshit, now I’m seeing posts telling me that girls who like BL are cringey gross fetishists who inspire rage and should go die? 

Let me tell you, I internalized the fuck out of messages like this. I desperately wanted to avoid being ~problematic~. At the time, I thought being problematic was like the worst thing you could be. I was terrified of being “cancelled”, before canceling was even really a thing. I thought to myself, “oh my god, I’m gross for liking this stuff? I should stop.” I beat myself up over this. I wanted so badly to be accepted, and to be deemed a Good Person by the internet and society at large.

I tried to shape up and become a good ally (lmfao). I stopped writing fanfic and deleted all the ones I was working on at the time. I made a concerted effort to assimilate into cishet culture, including trying to indulge myself more deeply in the few fandoms I could find that had het content I did enjoy (Buffy, True Blood, Pretty Little Liars, etc). I would occasionally look at BL/fanfic/etc in private, but then I would repress my interest in it and not look for a while. Instead I would look at women in straight relationships, and create extremely heterosexual Couple Goals pinterest boards, and try to figure out how I could become more like these women, so I, too, could be loved someday. 

This cycle of repression lasted like eight years. Throughout it all, I was performing womanhood to the best of my ability and trying to become a woman that was worthy of being in a relationship. I went in and out of several “straight” relationships, wondering why they didn’t make me feel the way reading fanfic did. Most of all, I couldn’t figure out why straight intimacy didn’t work for me. I just didn’t enjoy it. I always preferred looking at or making gay fanfiction/fanart over actual intimacy with men in real life. 

Eventually, I stumbled upon a trans coming out video that someone I was following posted online, my egg started to crack, and to make an extremely long story short, after like 3 years of introspection and many gender panic attacks that I still experience to this day, I realized that I’m uh... MAYBE... NOT CIS..!? :|

I truly believe if I had just been ALLOWED TO LIKE GAY STUFF WITHOUT BEING SHAMED FOR IT, I probably would have realized I was trans way way sooner. Because for me, indulging in my love of gay romance and writing gay fanfic wasn’t me being a weirdo fetishist, it was actually me exploring my own gender identity. It is what helped me come to terms with being a nonbinary trans boy.

Not everyone realizes they are trans at age 2 or whatever the fuck. Sometimes you have to go through a cringey fujoshi phase and multiple existential crises to realize how fucking gay you are AND THATS FINE.

And one more thing - can we just be real here? 

A lot of anti-fujoshi sentiment is literally just misogyny. omg please realize this. Its “women aren’t allowed to enjoy things” but, like... with gay fanfics. Some of the anti-fujoshi posts I see come across my dash are clearly ppl projecting a caricature they invented in their head of a demonic fujoshi fetishist onto any woman who expresses what they consider to be a little too much enthusiasm for gay content and then using their perception of that individual as an excuse to justify their disdain for any women, especially straight women, ‘invading’ their ~oh so exclusive~ queer fandom spaces.

I was gone for a quite some time and you're pro AA now? /gen! No hate but all I remember was your posts about how their interactions aren't about AA but about Armin alone and how he could be affected by Bert. What changed? Also glad you're well now awesome!

Hei, anon! A lot does, indeed, happen, over long periods of time. I wasn't a big fan of AA (though, it was never on the NOTP list, or if it was, it was nowhere near the top). And it's still not my cup of tea to actively ship - I just think it's neat. I've gone from finding it boring and a little forced, to loving that it exists. Sure, in the posts where I expressed my disinterest in the past, I'd sometimes tagg it "anti-ship", but this was so pro-shippers didn't have to see unfavorable opinions of something they liked; not because it was active hate. (And I didn’t even talk about it unless I was asked.)

Anyways, I've gone from feeling like Armin can do better - because Annie as a character didn't particularly impress me - to now being grateful for them finding together because it looks healthy and happy and built on mutual respect. I couldn't think of a better match for him now that we look at everything in retrospect. Because as I've always said: in the end, I want what's best for him, I want what makes him happy.

Now, when you say scenes, I'm assuming you mean scene, because I don't think I've talked exessively about their other scenes, just the crystal one. Because I never thought ALL AA scenes were "about Armin alone". No, of course the scenes are there to build on Annie as well. I might have made the point that the scenes weren't romantic in my eyes, but never "about Armin alone". Now, the crystal scene I DID analyze the scene to be about "Armin BEING alone". Almost wonder if you have me confused with someone because I only spoke about that one scene, only when asked, and I did NOT agree with the Bert theory at ALL. I was asked several times on my thoughts about the scene where Armin talks to Annie's crystal, and I felt strongly that in that scene, what Isayama was showing us, was Armin's isolation. Not budding romance. I won't reiterate that whole analysys, but I feel like the first part still stands. That scene, without the shippy aspect, still stands as one that's there explicitly to tell us several more important (imo) and relevant things.

(And for the record, I have always been vocal about my distatse for the Bertolt theory. If you saw me talk about it, I'm sure it was to explore the different possibilities; "either Armin did X because Y, or because of Z - but in that case, then---". I've always expressed how problematic that theory would be to the characters' agency. I actually big time hate that theory, and I'm almost upset you would think I advocated for it. I HATE hate that theory and always have.)

However, the ship part also turned out to be valid! Not only that, but there was so much AA that I flat out didn't hear about! It's only recently that I was even told about it all! See, I stopped reading the manga years ago, because my nerves couldn't take it. For good chunks of the archs ever since 90, I have only read summaries of. Always kept an eye on it, but yeah. I needed to take a big step back for my health. And oh boy, there was actually a (basically) explicit AA confession scene in there! I felt like a big idiot when I learned that, because some time ago, I was asked if I thought "the confession scene" was actually romantic. Like, did it canonize them. And I thought they meant the scene where Armin talks to the crystal, and that the "explicit confession" was when he said: "I wanted to see you" or whatever it was. And I even ended up "arguing" in the notes with someone that no, it hadn't been a very "clear" romantic confession. They meant it was obvious. ... When in reality, there was an actual confession scene and we were talking past each other. If I could re-do my answer, I'd tell the answer this: YES, that confession scene seemed romantic to me! ...I still don't think AA pre-timeskip + cystal scene is enough to make for a thoroughly built interest. They'd need more content for me to go "ok, Isa has established AA enough now that I buy it if they get to together". So me not believing it at the time of the crystal scene,... well, I stil lstand by that.

Over time, more AA content happened, making for stronger and stornger arguments, so I was won over in the end. Though, my dear anon, here's a kicker for you: I might have been less against it o begin with, if you aren’t just basically fed content ONLY from the ships you like. Because you see what you looking for. And, not being the AA community, I didn't come into contact with a lot of content that would have swayed me. I've always been big on canon. I started loving eremin for its canon bond. ... And for the same reason, I struggle to ship it now, based on later canon. For once in fandom history, a shipping community actually did what we ask them to: stick to their lane. Nobody from the AA community ever "bothered me" by showed me the video of Marina talking about Annie being Armin's obvious girlfriend, from way back when. Nobody told me the english translation of "you're actually a sweet person" or whatever it was, was much softer and sweeter in original. Etc. What I'm saying is there's a lot more AA content than I ever thought. And that has a lot of power to sway. ... Yet, I think what sold it for me, anon, was when Mikasa left Armin to die on the battle field (if that has been Eren, just saying...). His "childhood bestie" left him to choke and die... While, upon being told, Annie, said "I'll get him back" and went for it. That was the moment she started growing on me. It's actually... I'm actually obsessed with that moment. I'm so grateful to Annie, I can't stop obsessing over it. Fucking thank you, Annie. THANK you. I'll never not be upset that Mikasa and Levi left him there, and I'm lowkey shocked that not more people in the fandom had a reaction to that. I don't have as much of a need to discuss the manga online anymore. I have my opinion and I don't feel the need to make others agree. So I hesitate to even pop the lid on this can of worms, but yeah... Honestly, there's a lot of EMA salt there for me and Annie stands as the safe haven and someone who actually, *truly* sees Armin in the wake of the ending... so... I'm very glad he has her.

... So, what can I say. I recently learned Armin was a total gentleman when Annie ate pie, they had a sweet goobye, Armin landing in Annie's palm, the way she looked at him when he stepped up at the end, a CONFESSION, and such leveled normal dialogue, etc. There's more reason to accept AA into my heart now than "a long time ago", anon. I was wrong, AA was endgame and I'm happy about it.

Well, ever since catws dropped, ppl had been anti sharon for being in the way of their ship, despite the fact that sharon was Steve’s wife in the comics and they had the longest relationship for Steve. it gotten worse once the leak of the stevesharon kiss. but like INFINITELY WORSE. to the point sharon has been hated for no reason for 5yrs now and emily van camp (the actress) faced a lot of harassment JUST for playing sharon and sharon kissed steve, EVEN DEATH THREATS.

this wasn’t an isolated incident. this was a shared sentiment amongst stevebucky, romanogers, stevepeggy, stevetony AND stevewanda shippers. the only ones i’ve seen that were okay were stevesam (and obviously stevesharon) shippers. hayley atwell even made it worse by making that comment where she enabled more hatred towards emily bc she validated the hatred towards sharon (that sharon was “bad” for kissing steve). also hayley was just fucking jealous bc SHE wasn’t the one playing sharon. and steve ending up with peggy was fan service that destroyed both steve’s and peggy’s character development validated in a way the hatred towards sharon bc it made the kiss kinda incest (which wasn’t the case until now).

not only that, the mcu has a tendency to treat women interchangeably. especially when it comes to sharon. mcu peggy has the personality of sharon in the comics (peggy was barely in the comics, she didn’t have a fleshed out personality), SHARON was the one that teamed up with steve for the winter soldier NOT NATASHA. and now, sharon has batons, which are bobbi morse’s weapons. this wouldn’t bother me as much if not for what i had just said re:peggy & natasha.

now a lot of ppl shipping buckysam are the same very people that were anti stevesharon and anti sharon, especially now that stevebucky is gonzo in the movies. so it’s really at its core misogyny to obsess on a mlm relationship. and if you only care about sharon being wlw so that she doesn’t get in the way of your mlm ship, that’s misogynistic and homophobic as well.

DESTIEL AND COCKLES RANT

THIS IS A RANT ON ALL THINGS DESTIEL AND COCKLES

PS. I do not know how to make gifs and or use photos yet so feel free to add yours

I have said this before and I will say it again. I have been in this fandom for a month and I ship Destiel and Cockles anyone who has a problem with this then move along and/or if you are an anti and read this, keep your hateful comments to yourself.

That being said, I have read about almost all ships in the fandom but mostly Destiel, Cockles, Wincest, and J2. Through all the reading and discovery, I still have to say I ship Cockles and Destiel more than ever before. However, I have seen some things from the antis that did not sit well with me.

This is going to be a long post so brace yourself and it is mostly about the hate the antis (anti-cockles, anti-wives , and anti-Destiel Shippers spread). Also this is a rant so don’t mind me,

ON DESTIEL

The hate on Destiel is massive. Mostly this is from Bronlies who hate Cas like he is the anti-Christ, and the Wincest shippers.

Now I am not trying to rain on anyone’s parade but come on. Cas is Dean’s best friend. Whether you ship them romantically or not, it is canon that Cas Dean’s best friend. We have seen time and again how miserable Dean is every time Cas dies. Dea has also expressly stated that Cas is his best friend and even said they are better together; all three of them including Sam. He has called him his family. So why the hate? Chuck himself has said that he has rebuilt Cas more times than anyone.

Now, people who believe that it is better to ship Sam and Dean who are literally blood brother but it is not okay to ship Dean and Cas what is wrong with you? Is it okay for someone to fuck their brother and/or be in love with them? I mean come on.

Before I was even a shipper, I always looked forward to episodes that Cas was in. He brought a different dynamic to the show in a positive way. Yes, I love the brothers but Cas is just deifferent and all the sass he brings makes the show, at least to me 10 times better. Sue me.

People saying that JA would never be comfortable with Destine because he is a Christian. I mean, he can call Chuck a dick, call angels dicks, make deals with demons and all other unchristian things but kissing another man is where he draws the line? If he was such a Christian, why does he let another man straddle him on stage or want to kill God?

Someone once said that JA supports wincest. I saw the video and I get what he said is that whatever floats your boat or something like that. So why is it so hard for him when it comes to Destiel? I don’t understand this man. He is a paradox.

 ON COCKLES

I have seen antis, mostly those who ship J2 throw shade at MC saying that JA doesn’t like him, he just tolerates him and everything they do is for PR. I have not once seen anyone say that JP doesn’t like MC. You know why? I believe they view MC as a threat to their J2 ship.

So I stumbledupon this antis blog who had a whole analysis (much like am doing here) on why JA cannot be a couple. Here are some that I remember from the top of my head:

1.     That JA said that he thinks Matt Bomer is attractive.

2.     That JA moved to Austin to be live next to JP.

3.     That JA and MC have nothing in common being that JA plays golf and sings etc and that MC does woodwork, writes poetry and bicycle touring.

4.     That JA is with JP hence no. 2.

5.     That JA does not curse on stage but MC does.

6.     That MC does not take acting seriously but JA does.

Now now now. This beats logic. All the above things I beg to differ with not because I am cockles shipper but it is just common sense.

Being with someone or rather being in love with someone does not mean any of the above things have to be true. Hear me out.

1.     On finding Matt Bomer attractive. I have many celebrity crushes, there are also ordinary people that I find attractive. But then again, I have a boyfriend, who I am in love with; I have been with for six years. But he looks nothing like my celebrity crushes or the ordinary people I find attractive. Does that mean I am not in love with him? No. It means I have eyes and I can appreciate beauty and have a few fantasies but I chose to be with him because I love him. He also has other people he finds attractive that look nothing like me, does that mean he does not love me? I mean come on.

 Oh the most hilarious thing is that the anti said you cannot compare Matt to MC since Matt is way attractive. I mean come on; they may not look alike but they both have dark hair, blue eyes. Seriously people! And MC is so handsome and adorable at the same time. Sometimes I feel like he looks better than JA and JP. Sue me.

 2.     On JA moving to Austin. Lol. This means that he went to live next to his best friend. I mean come on. I have moved to live next to my best friend (bff) who is married. Does that mean I am in love with her? Hell no! But I feel safer knowing that she is there for me.

Also people need to understand, MC and JA could be involved romantically or not (pick your poison) but you don’t need to be next to your lover to love them or be in a relationship with them. Lond distance relationships anyone? They have families and kids and other priorities. Just because you are in a relationship with someone does not necessarily mean you live together or evn in the same area. Distance makes the heart grow fonder and also they are where they are now because of other priorities in their lives. So, living together or in the same town doesn’t make you more or less in love.

3.     On the issue of common interests. This made me laugh so hard. I mean comeon, People who are together do not need to share any interests. The diversity of their interests is probably what attracted them to each other. Also how can you say a poet and a singer have nothing in common? They are artists. MC can write poems that JA can sing. Oh also remember that video MC’s friend DM posted on Twitter where they did the whole bicycle touring in Germany? Uh huh? JA seemed to be interested in that a lot. So..

4.     I could say a lot about JA being with Jp. This J2 being married and their wives being beards is the weirdest thing I have ever seen. Seriously, J2 tinhats have gone ahead to hate of D’s posts and call her names. Telling her to stop pretending that she is JA. It is laughable and not in a nice way, really. Can they just stop? Before I became a cockles shipper I watched J2 videos where they interact be it cons, red carpet moments or even gag reels. It is just different. All I see are two bros; one that is really playful like a little puppy and the other one trying to be the big brother. As for JA and MC, it is different, there are things that JA is comfortable when Mc does that he is not comfortable when JP does them. Neck kisses for a start.

Also most of the J2 tinhats evidence about J2 being real is rarely backed up by visual evidence and if there is any, it is usually from years ago. I am not hating on antis, just stating facts.

5.     I mean, cursing on stage really? I curse all the time my bf doesn’t. Does that mean he doesn’t like me or love me? Hell to the Fucking No! Suck it!

6.     On Mc not taking acting seriously. Yeah I can guess why he doesn’t. It is not his only priority unlike JA who has chosen it as a career path. From what I have seen, MC’s priorities include making the world a better place through charities, politics, and oh, he is also a writer. Oh so forgive him if he is not obsessed with acting. Besides JA says that he likes how he acts as Cas because it is not like anything he has seen from other guest stars that have come on the show. I mean not being serious about something does not mean that you are not good at it. Would he have lasted 11 seasons if he was not good at what he does?

There was also hate that JA is only around MC for PR and he actually hates him. There were some photos and gifs so the apparent hate. So, if he cannot stand him, why is there so much evidence of JA going to MC to give some love, Neck kisses, intimate IG posts, face caresses, ass smacks, calling him his baby dadfy, heart eyes, even when they don’t know that they are being filmed?

Also why is it during the Vegascon 2020 all JA did was bring up MC unnecessarily even when no one, absolutely nobody asked him to. Come on! stop the bs and admit that Cockles is the realest ship in the history of ships!!

ON THE WIVES

I swear bitches be crazy. How can you just hat someone for literally nothing? This is mostly from J2 tinhats at other J2 stans who do not ship J2 together romantically. I mean…comeon. You do not need to be a stan for the wives just because they are married to J2 but please stop with the madness.

I recently saw someone comment on various JA posts on IG asking why he is lying to the fans that he is with D when he is with JP. So many rude things have been said about the wives especially D that it breaks my heart.

Seiously? People have gone ahead even to say that she is with JA’s friend SC and that the twins are not JA’s they are SC’s since D and SC are ‘always’ hanging out together. My question is, so D is not supposed to hang out with their friends? And for Chuck’s sake, everyone can see that the twins especially the boy (idk their names, sorry) looks like JA’s twin. I mean come on people.

I believe that they hate D because she says how much she loves MC and that Cas is her favorite character and that they are also bitter that JA chose her and not them. Just my opinion, but what do I know. On JP and G. I don’t know much about them mostly because I do not follow either of them of IG or elsewhere but I have seen hate on G as well.

The antis have gone ahead to say that when JA said that he was hanging out with SC writing songs, that he was lying and that nothing was happening he was just trying to dampen the rumours. I wonder how they felt when the album by JA and Sc came out last year. Jokes on you haters. Bitches be crazy fr.

Oh, the antis also say that the same way JA looks at his wife is the same way he looks at MC. With contempt. I mean talk about hanging yourself with your own rope. What they are saying is, JA feels about his wife the same way he feels abouts MC. Aww! That is true love bitches.

If JA actually cannot stand MC, shouldn’t he have gotten him fired from the show or at least make sure he gets less screen time and that they don’t have any panels together being that JA is the star of the show and all. I mean Mark left and he was a major character to the plot so...

Oh, some anti also said that before every Cockles panel at JIBCON JA cries and has to be forced on stage by Daniella and JP has to give him a hug and that’s why he drinks a lot of apple juice. LOL. WTF? What do you say to such people. I cannot even..My question is, are we talking about the same Cockles panels that I have seen? Then JA deserves all the Oscars and Tony Awards for his impeccable acting skills when he is around MC. Must really hate him. *wink*

MY TWO CENTS ON COCKLES

I know JA gives off mixed actions about MC. But I think it is to confuse people like us, shippers.  He does’t want to too out there so he tries so hard to be mean with his words. But his actions tell a different story. I mean, who gets a boner when their friend straddles them on stage and then goes ahead to post that chest to chest selfie on IG. That is the gayest thing I have ever seen.

Sharing clothes? I mean friends do share clothes but if it is like a daily thing. More than 20 articles of clothing exchanged between each other on various occasions even when they are apart does not make sense to me. And to make matters worse, JA does not deny it. One even had a tag on it. Lol. We are not children, we can see what is going on.

The 2014 DallasCon – Rob’s Birthday Party. WTF? Was all that between JA and MC? Why did he he swallow and react like that when he saw MC’s bare abdomen? Who does that? Also the looks when MC was leaving the stage. Come on.

Also what was up with the” I love you from the bottom of my heart” at the MTV top 10 in 2010.

The wife is my rock but I am glad to have some pebbles in my life.

Truth is, JA could post a video of him balls deep in MC and the antis could say that somehow MC manipulated JA to post it for PR.

Okay, listen up, I have a dumb fic idea and I need to be talked either out of or into it.

So I was thinking about this recent Twitter post that was going around like "if you wrote a fic about your niche interest, what would it be about?" I was forced to examine myself, look within, and realize that one of the things I know the most about is, in fact, fandom history and old school fandom drama (I’m old btw, for anyone who’s new here).

This, combined with having recently watched this wonderful video detailing the Ms Scribe saga, has me obsessed with the idea of a dumbass fic where Hannigram are fanfic writers. Long-suffering beta reader Will is convinced (and correct!!) that Hannibal, everyone's favorite BNF, is in fact the puppetmaster behind the most notorious and hated troll accounts in the fandom. Of course, archive moderator Jack is not convinced.

Which fandom everyone is in doesn't really matter, but it would be especially true to life if it were 1) accurate to the time period of 2000-2005, and 2) small, actually. All of this high-stakes drama is extremely disproportionate to the amount of people who actually give a shit. Like, just as an example, they're all part of Weiss Kreuz fandom or something (they fucking would be, and Mason would be an edgy Farfarello mun). However, I might even make up a fandom ENTIRELY, just for the immersion.

Hannibal is a prolific mun (a really good mun) who ships a m/m pairing but also runs a sock account as a particularly vocal fan who is viciously anti-slash

He writes a lot of genfic to preserve his good standing in Jack's popular but extremely gen-friendly archive, and also to cast the widest net for readers

But he's also writing the most depraved fics in the entire fandom on the dl, under yet another pseud. It's also really good. He keeps submitting them to Jack’s archive. Jack cannot condone this sort of Content but has no idea who's writing it. Will is strangely intrigued

Will just beta reads, and he'll beta read anything Jack asks him to

But Hannibal is the first person to actually convince Will to RP since he's already very good at thinking like any given character

If Hannibal just HAPPENS to convince Will to RP the character he ships his character with, WELP...!

I’m never sure why you people send these things to me. When this is all over, and we have an end time, now. 16 episodes away, when we get our answers. IS Bellarke the central relationship? No, we have that answer. They’re dual protagonists with Clarke as the star and JR has said that The 100 is and always has been about Clarke and her relationship with Bellamy. Maybe the question of whether Bellarke are soulmates. NOPE we have that answer, too. Will Bellarke be canon? Well that depends on what you think a canon love story is. Is it kissing or is it a 7 season story about how they fall in love and get together? You clearly think kissing and sex. So Clarke and Cillian or Bellamy and Bree and Roman is more canon than Bellarke, the central relationship of the show. This is an interpretation. You’re a nasty anon and I’m an ex english teacher who’s been writing sff novels since I was 15 and now ghostwrites romance novels professionally, so you of course think you are the authority and I am...

Okay. That’s fine. When this is all over, if Bellarke doesn’t have their kiss/confess/sex moment, if it’s not a “canon” ship in the ways fandom wants I will apologize for... I guess... being wrong. Although there is nothing wrong with being wrong. Just like I apologized about the cannibal thing. But y’all will get ONE apology and no more. I will not be dragged over the coals for doing nothing wrong but incorrectly guessing what the future is going to hold. 

I won’t make a prediction on whether Clarke, Bellamy and Bellarke are alive or dead though. I have ALWAYS said they might die at the end of the show. Always. My base theory is that this show is about unity, Clarke and Bellamy are the head and the heart and they must be TOGETHER in order to have victory. They are the symbolic representation of this rebirth of humanity, Maybe she needs to kill it and he needs to open the door to let it come back IDK, it’s kind of mythic. But I think that in order to have victory on this show, Bellarke needs to be Together. I think that will ultimately be romantic. 

HOWEVER, I don’t know if they’re getting a happy ending and I’m not saying they will. Because while I believe this show will end on a hopeful note and there will be hope for humanity and they will achieve their goals for humanity,

I don’t know if BELLARKE will get a happy ending.

A long time ago, JR said he knew the ending of the show, and he hadn’t decided yet if it would end with hope for our heroes, or hope for humanity but NOT for our heroes. Our heroes are, now I’m sure, Bellarke. So there is still a possibility that they sacrifice themselves for humanity.

And that could mean they die together... which would be a kind of romeo and juliet tragic ending, where they die, but are together in death.

OR it could mean that one of them dies and not the other, in which case one of them would have to live on without the other, which imo would be a straight up tragedy for the characters of Clarke and Bellamy. I would hate that but it’s possible. The game is lost if Bellamy is lost, because this is chess, and the king is the deciding factor. Might his capture be a major storyline? You bet it might. We’ve got a theory going right now that someone captures Bellamy in the anomaly and Clarke leads the jump team to rescue him. I AM HERE FOR THAT STORY.

I personally have also made the speculation that Clarke and Bellamy will die, or be lost in the anomaly, or sacrifice themselves to set up the anomaly expecting to never be seen again, but, because anomaly, will end up back on Earth, and set up a society that Marcus envisioned, leading to a bittersweet loss and victory happy ending much like we saw with Marper, who gave up life with their friends and family to live in peace and raise a child. But if this happens, then for a while we will think that Clarke and Bellamy are dead. It ain’t over until the final credits but it is 100% possible. 

So I won’t argue with them about one or both of them dying. It’s possible.

But I’m only pathetic in that i am slightly obsessive about my favorite show. And frankly, I’m not apologizing for that nor do I feel bad about it. Actually, I don’t find people’s love of stories to be pathetic. I love it. That’s why I became an english teacher, duh. SO I could share my love of fiction and poetry and literature and film etc. Geek? yes. Proudly. Pathetic? Nope. 

So fine. If I’m wrong and there’s no “canon” endgame. I will apologize for my error in speculating the wrong thing. Not that I need to apologize but I will.

BUT THAT MEANS THAT I EXPECT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU BLORKE AND CLXA ANTIS TO APOLOGIZE TO ME AND EVERY OTHER BELLARKE FAN FOR CALLING US DELUSIONAL, CLOWNS, OR PATHETIC.

I usually try to stay out of fandom bullshit but I am tired and angry and have a few things to say.

So first off I don’t think that it’s out of line for me to point out that Delpad shippers have been treated like SHIT by some parts of the Ducktales fandom. I haven’t been targeted as much because I’m not as vocal in the fandom as I used to be, but a lot of it is fucking unavoidable. In addition to the blatant dumping of hate into the tags there are entire blogs dedicated to posting nothing but ship hate, harassment campaigns directed at shippers, attempted doxing, the infiltration and destruction of a ship discord, unfounded accusations and rumors against shippers, personal information and comments intended for private conversations shared and mocked openly, people constantly coming up with new reasons the ship is problematic and calling it’s shippers misogynists and abuse apologists and homophobic het trash(which, if I might point out, a lot of the het trash comments REEK of biphobia), and I could go on. Every horrible, awful ship war tactic has been lobbed at us to the point that almost every Delpad fan has either dropped the ship or gone in to hiding, literally too afraid to create content for fear of being targeted next.

Now thankfully there has been push back in the fandom as of late, people who don’t even ship Delpad are getting sick of this behavior and calling it out when they see it. It’s not much, but it’s enough to give me some hope that things are changing. But change is slow and the people perpetrating this hate seem to have a lot of free time that they have no problem dedicating to harassing people for the crime of “shipping something they don’t like”. I am not gonna make speculations about people I don’t know, but I am starting to really wonder why these people are so insistent about starting drama and hating on people. I have seen some legit worrying posts that seem to echo a lot of stuff I saw back when Voltron was ending about people placing a lot of their mental wellbeing on ships and what is and isn’t canon and that kind of behavior does end up leading to some dark places. 

I doubt any prolific Delpad antis are gonna read this but as someone who has been there, let me tell you, when you are relying on a show to carry your mental wellbeing to the point that a singe episode description is enough to send you spiraling you really need to take a step back and examine your priorities. Because that is really the only reason I can see this kind of hate being seen as reasonable. These ships and characters are so important to you that you see anyone contradicting your viewpoint as an attack and so you channel that energy into attacking them to preserve your sense of self. I will say this again, I have been there, I know what that’s like, and while in the long term attacking people who disagree with you might feel cathartic and validating it is actually just gonna fill your life with misery and ruin something that once brought you joy. As much as these people have been terrible to us I don’t want them to have the pain of looking back on something they once loved and having it make them sick because of fandom drama. Because it sucks, it really does.

With all that said however, there is something else I want to mention. While I am still trying to determine the validity of these claims since anons and screencaps are VERY easy to fake and there have been issues with people faking them in the past in this fandom, I take claims of death threats and suicide baiting VERY seriously. I have been on the receiving end of them and I would never in my life wish that upon someone else. While it does seem suspect that this is all coming to light in the wake of Delpad fans celebrating some future canon interactions as well as a lot of hate posts, I want to make it abundantly clear that nor myself or any of the Delpad fans I am friends with condone this kind of harassment. I do not care how awful someone has treated you telling them to kill themselves and go die is NEVER OK. If there is a Delpad fan out there sending these messages you need to stop. The collective Delpad community does not stand by this person. We take out our trash and if this is a Delpad fan they need to stop, apologize, and never do it again. They are not welcome within our ranks if they are acting like this. It is unacceptable. 

Once again, I am not sure if these claims are true, a lot of them seem very, very suspect, but I def want to know more so we can fix things if this is happening. However, I would implore other Ducktales fans to speak out against the harassment Delpad fans have been facing. This fandom is supposed to be a happy, fun place and while no one fan can be responsible for everyone else in a group, we need to look out for our own. I hope this post proves that the Delpad community is willing to do the same. And I would also ask that the people who are harassing shippers, posting hate, attempting to destroy our tags and community spaces, and spreading rumors about us stop. It isn’t good for us, and please trust me, it isn’t good for you either. You will only end up hurting yourself in the long run, and you shouldn’t do that to yourself. Sparking harassment and searching tags for things you hate is a form of self harm, and you deserve to spend your time putting good into the world and doing things you enjoy, not obsessing over hating something and taking joy in hurting others. 

Anyway this post is long enough as is. I’m hoping I could get through to someone or at least get my point across. Now let’s put this fandom drama to bed and go back to enjoying a fun show about ducks going on adventures.

I used to like Stephanie Brown very much but honestly lately her fandom ruined the character for me. I just want to ask why TimSteph stans are hating on Tim but still shipping him with their fav character? Literally every single TimSteph stan on their tag are posting anti Tim Drake posts, and talking shit about him, but when someone says something bad about Stephanie they are getting mad and acting like everyone is hating women because of other ships??? That’s the part of the fandom that I see sometimes and really brings my mood down a lot of the time, because they’re so caught up in their own world sometimes that it drives me nuts.

Before I disliked Damian because his writing is just freaking awful, I began to not like him just from the connotation of his fandom being so obsessed trying to make him something he’s not based off of just a few moments that aren’t even in-character.

With the toxic part of Steph’s fanbase they’re just so obsessed with trying to make her seem like more of this astonishing character. Not to even say she’s a bad character. I still think she’s a good character, but it’s just the limit the obsessive part of her fandom goes to, just to convince people she’s so great. Sometimes they just exaggerate stuff or just lie so much because they seem to be under the belief that if she’s not incredible as a person that she’s unlikable, but then, why do they like her.

I think that part of her fandom comes from people projecting on her so much that they begin to become defensive of everything she does to the point it feels obsessive.

I remember not that long ago I kept seeing posts that were exaggerating Tim so much, and it bugged the ever-living crap out of me.

Because sorry, but, I don’t care what Red Robin says. Tim could not beat up all those assassins.

I don’t even honestly believe Tim’s a master tactitian. He’s just smart and clever, he isn’t this war general figure.

I don’t care that a comic says that Tim could trick Bruce with a fake Uncle.

Given the way he was built up as a character, that stuff just doesn’t work. That wasn’t anything that was actually developed for his character. It was something they tacked on in what I assume was attempts to make Tim “cool”, because DC doesn’t like relatable characters.

Which is a bit rich because Sideways, a character written by Didio himself, just feels like a knock-off Ultimate Spider-Man with the tone and character-style.

So I don’t want to give the impression that I think everyone in the Stephanie Brown fandom is an obsessive loon, or toxic as could be, because I don’t believe that to be the case. The toxic part of her fandom is just something that has arisen. Something that happens in all fandoms at one point or another. Now is just Stephanie’s go at it I guess. Even if it seems to be from just a few over vocal people, that people gave too much attention because I guess they liked having their fav be overly praised.

The people that say you’re misogynistic if you don’t ship TimSteph are just stupid honestly. At least about that.

If you ship TimKon, it makes no sense to include Steph in posts about it. Unless it’s like, just mentioning how Tim used to date her. Which I don’t feel is a big enough reason to act like people are misogynistic, because, even if say I shipped Tim with another girl. Id be awkward to talk about Steph. We don’t need to shove Steph into everything.

Like Stephanie Brown has flaws right? She flirted with Tim when she knew he had a girlfriend, even kissing him. Reckless as could be. Took things the wrong way. Made Tim straight up uncomfortable with her flirting sometimes. Had a problem with listening even when it was beneficial to her safety. She also had a trust problem when her and Tim’s relationship got into it.

Some of you are probably thinking “Well Tim has flaws too. She had her reasons.”

And you know what?

I agree.

Because that’s how freaking characters work.

Tim’s sheltered childhood made him insensitive to certain situations. He was immature to the point of detriment to his relationship with Ariana in some situations. Too naive to understand some things. Even too bossy because he’s a cruddy leader and didn’t know how to communicate enough for that job.

He’s not a perfect human.

Characters can have flaws, and it’s okay, because that’s how we get interesting stories and dynamics between stuff. Just because Tim has flaws, doesn’t mean he’s not a good person. He’s kind, caring, heroic, despite his immaturity. Just because Tim couldn’t handle the topic of cheating and became immature doesn’t mean he didn’t step up to the plate and try to help Ariana when she was close to being sexually assaulted and she was a bit mentally unstable (that might be strong wordage, but I use those words for myself when a situation hits. So it’s not me talking down about her situation) for a bit.

When you were raised in a mad house, it’s understandable she’d grow up to be reckless. She grew up so independent at a young age, because her parents certainly weren’t taking care of her. It’s also understandable that she has trust issues, because if you’re dating someone with a second life, you would worry that they’re cheating on you.

This is just how characters work

So these posts that wanna pretend she doesn’t have flaws, bugs me, because they want to deny her character sometimes.

Then acting like she’d just be best friends with everyone is freaking delusional. It’s the kind of stuff where it’s done in the vein of “peppy fangirl”, but it just becomes a bit obsessive. I think that’s stuff were my theory on some of those types of fans projecting on her for their own good come in.

I can get, being like “I wonder if these characters would get along”, but getting so hyper and exaggatory is just wack.

I think Tim and Jon would get along and could be good friends now that Jon’s older, but if they were in a comic together I’m not gonna get myself worked up and pretend things are were they clearly aren’t.

Even in the case of Cissie and Steph, I actually feel like they would be pretty good friends together. I can easily see that. But just cuz they’re on a cover together doesn’t mean they’re best friends

And if somehow Steph brought Cissie out to be Arrowette, that’d just be stupid. I don’t know how Steph would even know who Cissie is, because I don’t know if she even knows Arrowettes name is Cissie, let alone in this timeline. Plus Cissie last seen wasn’t a hero. So that’d just be some super cheap and forced writing.

But given the write circumstances, that actually work and make sense, I wouldn’t be against that. If they became friends, I’d be totally cool with it.

It’s that weird obsessive “THEY’RE BEST FRIENDS OH MY GOSH” that’s just a bit unnerving. Like settle down.

Write some fan fics, I really don’t care, but it gives me the vibes of those boyband fandoms that wanna act like their fav is dating some hot chick cuz he looked at her.

It’s less worse than that, cuz those are real people, but it’s that obsessive vibe that I get from it.

I don’t like it.

As for TimSteph shippers that hate Tim. I think it’s because it’s for a similar reason some people make all those posts overexaggerating or lying about so much stuff about Steph.

It’s to get her attention.

They know that Steph’s almost always only gonna show up because writers attach her with Tim almost exclusively, and that may be the only way she’ll show up. So I think they’re doing that, to get some kind of attention so Steph will show up at least with Tim, cuz something is better than nothing.

Although personally, I root for Steph finally hanging out with other characters, because seeing her relegated to just “Tim’s girlfriend” is very annoying, cuz even in the 90s she was more than that. She wasn’t created just to date Tim. She was created to be her own dang character.

Reason #21: The (Miniature) Dragon and the (Miniature) Wolf: How Jon and Sansa are “playing the Game of Thrones” together – A tale of Two Conversations.  

I don’t know how much has been written about this parallel already (and I’d be super interested in reading some of it) – reading the script of 7x07 it just got to me how small, seemingly insignificant details turn out to actually be part of the script, e.g. a miniature dragon bone and a miniature wolf figurine, two tiny details that are important enough to be included in pivotal scenes of 7x07 because they symbolize SO much about these two “couples.”

 Jon, the Little Lion Dragon Man:

“Jon is pondering, looking at the detritus on the ground, when Dany approaches. He has a small dragon jawbone in his hands.  JON: No one is less happy about this than I am.”

I’ve seen comments by Jon*erys shippers about this scene focusing on the tiny dragon skull - like it’s a symbol of J/D belonging together. One compared the jaw bone to the crown because Jon hands it to Dani which they interpret as Jon giving Dani the crown. Now, I DO have a different interpretation (see below) but I will not laugh at theirs, because in fairness, they have very little and very unfavourable material to work with so who am I to judge – and I do appreciate it when the other ship actually tries to analyse and focuses on their own content instead of obsessing about ours. 

Fun fact is that Jon *actually* gave Sansa his kingdom, not symbolically but in reality (!) and very publicly. 

This scene is further interpreted by their fans as Jon and Dani “bonding” over “their family” and of course they flail over Jon telling Dani that she is “not like everyone else” when she complains that the dragons grew small and so did the Targaryens, becoming ordinary like “everyone else.” Um, yes, because Jon cares so deeply about Dani that he must alleviate her insecurities that she might be “ordinary” and nothing “special.” 

The ‘Talker’ and the ‘Listener’ – or, how to win f(r)iends and influence people:

However, it is very much a scene in which Dani T does open up to Jon. She opens up about her family history, she opens up about her inability to have children, she opens up about her dead husband, she even speaks Valyrian to him at one point (making herself *extra* special). Mostly she opens up about her two biggest worries and fears: 

1. To be nothing special and ordinary, “like everyone else” 

2. That Cersei takes back half of Westeros while she helps Jon

And what does Jon do? Does he open up to her? Well…no: 

Jon listens. Jon is polite. Jon smiles at all the right moments. Jon flatters her. Jon tells her that maybe she should seek a second opinion about her infertility. Jon is understanding and sweet. He speaks when it seems appropriate, but mostly he listens. He lets her do most of the talking. Because Jon has done enough talking, Jon has had his share of futile “talks” with (or rather at) her: first meeting at Dragonstone and then later in the cave, Jon has tried to convince her with words. Again and again.

And I think it’s clear from here on out that Jon has changed tack dramatically: instead of appealing to her “good heart” with words, instead of trying to convince her of the plight of his people and why she needs to help asap, Jon suddenly shows understanding and support for the priority of “Mission: Win-back-the-throne.”

Instead of presenting her with words and arguments to come and help him….

---> Jon presents her with…well…“himself.”

He makes speeches to Cersei and all others about how he is all for Dani now but really for whose sake does he do this? How will it help his cause to piss off Cersei? Jon just made a spectacle - and to people like Jaime who afterwards called him “Sansa’s dolt brother” a “northern fool” - of himself by confessing that he pledged himself and the North to Dani when there was zero need for it – except, as Jon claims, to alleviate his poor soul because he *simply can’t* be dishonorable and it is simply *too much to ask* him to lie to dear Cersei Lannister, even if it *would* save the North, save his people, save Sansa, Arya and Bran (whom he had just got back)…

Jon’s conscience is clear and his vest is snow white and his soul is unburdened by the awful idea of having to tell a *gasp* LIE!

But did this help matters? No, it possibly slowed them down.

Can the North afford a slowing down? No.

Is Jon an idiot? Again – No.

At this point, there is only one logical explanation for every word and every action of Jon’s after he was saved by Benjen Stark:

Jon is EMULATING Sansa who plays the “long game” with Littlefinger. In fact, we can see how Jon is “playing the Game of Thrones” in the South at the exact same time that Sansa is “playing the Game of Thrones” in the North --- they are operating simultaneously on different battle grounds (without necessarily knowing what the other one is doing, but they still fight the same fight – to save their family and to save the North)

Jon is MIRRORING Sansa - the (Mini) Dragon and the (Mini) Wolf are visual c(l)ues:

There are actually clues given to viewers of this episode to help them “read” and understand Jon’s actions: a very small, one might say “miniature” clue.

Funny how In the very same episode that Jon “sides” with Dani and hands her the miniature dragon jaw bone, THIS (final!) conversation between Littlefinger and Sansa takes place and starts out almost identically: 

“Littlefinger moves about the room, examining an ancient First Men carving of a wolf. 

LITTLEFINGER: I’ve heard gossip that the Dragon Queen is quite beautiful.”

(And before antis jump on this post and scream: “omg she compares Jon to Littlefinger! Jonsas hate Jon!!!111” Nope! Sit down. I am not.) 

Because Jon is not emulating Littlefinger, Jon is emulating Sansa! 

People who condemn “Political!Jon” because it means Jon has become a manipulator like Littlefinger don’t get the point at all: 

“Political!Jon” means Jon has become like Sansa by finally listening to her and being smarter than Ned and smarter than Robb – he is not out to purposefully hurt anyone, he is simply “playing the game” to save his family and his people!

So what is the viewer supposed to glean from this visual cue of the “mini dragon” and then the “mini wolf” in two scenes of the same episode that both feature a (potential romantic) pairing, or at the very least a male and female character who are ostensibly “in cahoots” together (leaving us to wonder who is *actually* “in cahoots”)?

What “connects” these two scenes as well is that Littlefinger and Sansa actually talk *about* the “other couple”, as he brings up Jon potentially marrying Dani.

So while he does this, Littlefinger also “fingers” (ew!) a small carving of a wolf (just like Jon and Dany touched the ancient skull of the mini dragon), a gesture that reflects what he is doing intellectually at that moment:  prodding Sansa and verbally touching her about the subject of Jon --- yes, in a romantic context!

As such, it is also a parallel scene to the “Crypt Scene” with Jon:

Both times, Littlefinger is talking *about* Jon/Sansa in a romantic context *to* Jon/Sansa, implying that Jon/Sansa might get married to someone else, which triggers them big time, the result of which is Littlefinger gets nearly choked to death by Jon and *actually* silently condemned to death by Sansa.

 (Of course Sansa did not have Littlefinger killed solely on account of his suggesting Jon might marry Dany, but it was part of his whole “game” to get Sansa to throw over Jon – something that DID trigger Sansa into getting rid of him for good.)

If anything, the fact that the whole “Jon x Dani” argument was brought up by Littlefinger in his *last ever* private conversation with Sansa when it was really about killing Arya and overthrowing Jon is very odd – similarly we might wonder why the *one and only* private conversation Littlefinger had with Jon had to be about “Sansa x Littlefinger,” i.e. Sansa in a romantic context.

 The writers must have some idea at least of what the actual point is of bringing up romance/love/sex in these two pivotal scenes between Littlefinger and either Jon/Sansa: e.g. the viewer, together with Littlefinger, finds out that neither Jon/Sansa reacts *well* to the idea that their brother/sister might get romantically involved with someone (else)…marking this as crucial information for some reason...

 “Little Wolf” Sansa plays a “Little Game”:

In the scene we see Littlefinger is all up in Sansa’s ear, going on and on about how Jon is with Dani, how this will not sit well with the North, how she would have been the better queen, how Arya is going to kill her, etc. Again, he is the one doing ALL the talking, just like Dani did with Jon. And like Jon, Sansa is only prompting him from time to time, to go on and “open up” about his plans --- literally playing the “little game” Littlefinger taught her – she is “listening” closely to see how far he will go, trying to find out his “motives” and plans and aspirations.

The point is, like Dani, Littlefinger felt safe with her (notably also after Bran scared the shit out of him with “Chaos is a ladder”), he felt “heard” and he felt oh-so-confident that Sansa would be on his “side” in his attempt to overthrow Jon and ultimately win the crown/Iron Throne. 

Ahem. Just like Dani felt thrilled and confident that Jon seemed to understand her and support her and okay, they might “be fucked” but hey, at least Jon Snow thinks she’s awesome and simply *felt like* subjugating his entire kingdom to her in front of everyone because he’s on her “side” and wants everyone to know! 

Like Dani with Jon, Littlefinger flattered himself that he has Sansa’s full trust and support, he is convinced that he’d succeeded in grooming this teenage girl to the point where she would to anything for he deems necessary, even kill her sister and betray her brother.

Because Sansa *made* him think that. She may have snarked at him, but she kept him close, very close at all times (literally: Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer!)

In 6.10 when Littlefinger comes forth with his plans to sit on the IT and marry her for the first time, Sansa’s reaction is to push him away, but at the same time say “it’s a pretty picture” – not because she *actually* wants this, but because she knows he wants to “hear” this. She does not want to kiss or touch him, but she wants to keep him “close”, to have a close eye on him, to control and, yes, to make use of him if necessary (just like she did with the Knights of the Vale).

If Littlefinger were a nice and *good* character, we might think badly of Sansa for doing this, for obviously “playing” this guy, for using him and making him think she is actually interested in a future with him. 

Alas, he is not: he is a power hungry, dangerous traitor, schemer and murderer. Sansa does nothing to him that he had not done to others and worse. She literally switches the table and gives him a dose of his own medicine (cue her quoting his own “play a little game” monologue at his trial). Sansa merely played the “Game of Thrones” with him and we see this in the “mini wolf” scene. 

Of course Littlefinger and Dani are quite different characters and we have much more sympathy with her than we do with him. However, this would not be GoT if only “bad” characters get deceived and “played,” quite the contrary, as the Starks know to their cost…

The ironic TWIST of both these scenes is that  Littlefinger and Dani (both desirous of the IT) have *seemingly* achieved what they wanted --- when in truth, Jon and Sansa are the ones succeeding:

Both Littlefinger and Dani open up about what they *want* in these two scenes, in fact they are both very vocal about it: 

1.      they want POWER, 2.      they want the IRON THRONE, 3.      AND they want JON/SANSA on/by their side when they get it. 4.      Bonus: they BOTH have a more or less obvious SEXUAL DESIRE (in Dani’s case it’s less creepy and more romantic love though) for Jon/Sansa that is heavily implied in looks, words and attitudes.

The CRUX is that both Jon and Sansa are *fully* aware of all this^^ at this point.

Sansa KNOWS that Littlefinger wants the Iron Throne and she’s known that he wants her sexually since Season 4.

Jon has heard nothing but speeches from Dani about how she is entitled to the Iron Throne and vows that she will get it one way or another, and after the “cave scene” you can bet Jon’s sweet bottom that he KNOWS full well that Dani is extremely attracted to him and that he is a “favourite” of hers.

Sansa appears to “listen” to Littlefinger and accept his arguments that Arya is dangerous and Jon is about to get it on with the Dragon Queen

Jon appears to “listen” to Dani and accepts her right to rule over him as queen. What is more, Jon also appears to be sympathetic to Dani’s worries that she might not get to be queen because of *his* pesky problems with the Night King.  

Now, did Sansa ACTUALLY listen to Littlefinger or accept his arguments and act according to his wishes?

PRE-cisely!

Meanwhile, Jon gives the little, ‘undeveloped’ dragon bone to Dani and it is *symbolic* AF:

If Jon*erys shippers interpret this gesture as Jon “giving the crown” to Dani they are really only *half* wrong --- Jon is literally giving “himself” over to Dani: we know Jon IS a dragon through Rhaegar, at least a small part of him is, like the small part of the dragon skeleton he is handing to his aunt – even if he doesn’t know it yet.

Jon literally just pledged himself to her in front of everyone. In doing so he is giving her exactly what he *knows* she desires the (second) most --- HIMSELF.

People who argue: there was no need for this! She already agreed to help him. This makes no sense etc. NOPE: Jon can SEE very clearly and HEAR very soundly that this woman is NOT to be trusted, that she is VOLATILE and FICKLE in her actions and that at this point Dani is still more interested in the Iron Throne than in anything else…I mean, she just keeps SAYING IT:

Jon *seemingly* just gave himself over to her (verbally in front of everyone; and in a tiny symbolical visual cue for viewers by handing her the miniature dragon piece) --- he caters to her whims and actually goes on satisfying her every “desire” (cue: boat bang) in hopes that her No.1 priority becomes “Mission: Save-the-North.”

Not in the least because Jon also KNOWS full well that Cersei was talking bullshit (*flashback to Sansa telling him not to underestimate Cersei*) and that the moment Dani does turn her back on her, she WILL indeed take back half the Kingdom. And when she does, Jon must make sure that Dani’s focus STAYS firmly on the North and the NK!  

“Slow learners”, but they learn: Jon and Sansa learn to put THOUGHT before EMOTION, or, how to play the Game of Thrones:

Jon*erys like to think that Jon’s actions in the dragon pit were actually driven by his strong emotions for Dani – and Dani herself appeals to his emotions repeatedly when justifying her cause and actions. 

It is interesting to note that Sansa and Jon are the characters who always got the most ridicule for being too “EMO” – there are literal memes about Emo-Jon Snow and Sansa got hate for being a “whiny” overly emotional crybaby for seven seasons straight.

So the question is: did Jon act purely on emotions when he declared himself as pledged to Dani in the dragon pit, or did he actually “think” before he spoke, i.e. is there a “method” to his madness?

Throughout S7 we have only seen Jon lose his shit twice and becoming emotional rather than rational. One time with Theon (“What you did for *her*…”) and one time with Littlefinger in the crypts: 

And Littlefinger was waiting for it, he was pushing for an emotional reaction from Jon (even if he did not expect an explosion of such magnitude and was surprised and shaken by it) because this is how you get to people’s WEAKNESS. Smart people are strong people, whereas emotional people are vulnerable and can be defeated. He goes “I love Sansa…” and Jon gets so carried away with rage he choke slams the guy into a wall – no thought for consequences (that he just told LF his biggest weakness) just pure emotional Rage!Kitten Jon in all his glory!

 Conceal, don’t feel:

Meanwhile, Sansa listens to Littlefinger’s overtures the entire season and calmly tells him to stfu when he gets too much on her nerves. Where Jon flew off the handle at the mere mention of Littlefinger getting with Sansa – you can only see a mild reaction in Sansa when Littlefinger suggests the Jon x Dani pairing – and that small controlled reaction tells us that there plenty of emotion left in Sansa, in particular with regard to Jon (and Dani), only she conceals it much better than Jon did in the crypts:

Sansa was three steps ahead of Littlefinger, making him belief she listened and was open to his words, pretended to act according to his wishes --- she already knew how to play the Game of Thrones, whereas Jon still had to “learn” to control his emotions and play it – as he did in the dragon pit.

One last thing: I do think, however, that 

Sansa’s carefully concealed feelings will burst out at some point and Sophie already teased this when she said that Season 8 will be more of a “passionate” fight for Sansa rather than a “political” one. 

Jon and Sansa have both succeeded in playing the game in S7, they got the results they wanted and are now on top of it.

This does not mean that there will be no situations in Season 8 that will make them get dramatically emotional and irrational, and this may well be in relation to one another: Jealousy, fear, protectiveness, unresolved sexual tension and hidden romantic feelings, we shall see…(and I can’t wait!)

And playing the “Game” or not, Jonsa are still the two “emo” dorks of the show, in other words, they are made for each other ;)

hello and happy yuletide! this is my fifth year taking part and my longest letter yet so i’m just going to jump right in. the suggestions are guidelines. if you’ve got a great idea, go for it. i only ask that you steer clear of my dislikes.

The Departed (2006) *Billy Costigan             *Sean Dignam

one of my favourite films ever. i request it every year so you can't really go wrong with this as i am thirsty for anything. most of my love is for dignam and his tough love attitude towards his job and the undercovers he's responsible for. it's obvious he cares, i don't think you could do a job like that and not care, but those rare and few moments when he softens around billy --we need you, pal-- that's what i would like to see more of. i have written a couple of departed fics myself, centred around costigan/dignam, but in all honesty, i would be happy with anything involving them both. shipping is preferred but whatever you are comfortable with is fine. due to the nature of the film, i am perfectly comfortable with violence and the screwed up relationship they are bound to have. the friction born of the situation vs the fact that they need each other to get through this is what i am all about.

codependency, power imbalances and enemies to lovers tropes are abound here.

fics where billy lives are my usual go-to. the survivability of being shot in the head, that kind of stuff can be hand waved away in fic, and i'd love something that explores the angst of billy's ‘where the hell were you when i needed you’ reaction towards dignam following that ending.

or a canon divergence fic with their totally antagonistic relationship being front and centre. i just ask that there be an underlying level of affection, no matter how buried. when billy is undercover, there’s a special kind of relationship that comes with dignam and queenan being the only people he can talk to.

something i’ve never seen for this but would actually love: a time loop/groundhog day fic

Jurassic Park Original Trilogy (Movies)

i originally wasn’t going to ask for this again this year (i was lucky enough to get treated with a fic a couple of years ago) but then someone other than myself nominated nick van owen which surprised and delighted me and i figured why the hell not.

my passion here is the ot3 potential. i view these three in the same way i view the trio in the first film, meaning i see them as three people who have bonded over a traumatic experience and come out of it forever linked in some way. they spend the entire film looking out for each other and keeping each other safe, and they all separately take care of ian’s daughter at one point and i am fascinated by this and how that could continue in the future. (in fact, i love stories where adults treat kids like adults, not talking down to them–see any shane black film.) i’m looking for an actual relationship between them but would be happy with anything that showcased a connection with every side of this triangle.

anything post-film with them dealing or not dealing with what happened would be amazing. there are quite a few fics based around this idea for the first film’s trio, i’d love to see something like that for these three. (i’ve always been kind of bitter about the way nick just disappears for the last act but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ that’s what fics are for, i guess.)

i don’t like the jurassic world films but i’m fine with fics that take that future into account. a lot of the trauma for these characters comes from the idea that the parks still exist and continue to fuck people up.

Godless (TV 2017)

*Roy Goode                 *Bill McNue                 *Alice Fletcher

i’m a massive fan of westerns. the harsh way of life, the violence, the isolation, drawn out revenge plots, the murkiness of good vs evil or sheriff vs anti-hero, the importance of honour and heroism and how that differs for men and women, especially in this universe with its town full of widows. having said all that, i’m still very much a sucker for cool cowboys in a shallow female way.

as you’ve probably already gathered my favourite thing is turning every love triangle into an ot3. so i’d love a fic post canon where roy comes back after realising found family is just as important as real family despite frank’s influence. i imagine bill would try to do the gentlemanly/self depreciating thing of bowing out and letting roy and alice be together but i’d love for alice to actually get a say in this where she wasn’t allowed in the show. however you jigsaw them together my main thing is that bill doesn’t get left out.

i feel the roy/bill aspect in particular could be explored a lot more. i love that they don’t hate each on sight. they learn mutual respect and then smoothly move around each other during the gunfight at the end. (bill’s deteriorating eyesight side plot also fascinates me, how it goes with his loss of purpose -”losing his shadow”- and comes back when teaming up with roy to defend the town. maybe there’s a fic possibility where it flares up again due to his insecurity of roy coming between him and alice. either way, the hints of magical realism here and with frank’s repeated insistence that he’s seen his death and this ain’t it are great and i wouldn’t mind seeing more of that.)

the usual ideas of western masculinity get all twisted around when roy and bill are in the presence of alice and they both seem kind of subby towards her, which yes please. the way alice kisses the scar she gave roy and the fact that he simply lets her is *chef kiss* because i also love the parallel that bill got shot in the hip trying to get revenge for alice. they all have scars that tie them together.

i’m actually very okay with letting them be soft with each other after all of their tragedy.

honest communication between partners could work wonders here.

Barry (TV 2018)

i expected to like this show. dark comedy, depressed hitman, henry winkler, it’s a perfect combination of things. i didn’t expect to get obsessed with barry’s obvious fucked up father-figure hangups. but hey ho, i was pleasantly surprised.

pretty much every one of barry’s relationships in this show has an element of fucked-upness but the barry/fuches one is by far the worst. it’s codependent, it’s manipulative, it’s a little abusive, the power is constantly flip-flopping and most importantly there’s the father/son dynamic that could so easily tip over into something sexual. it’s everything i love. any time fuches calls barry “his boy” it kills me. and i am fascinated by the way barry can go from needy and touch starved to a rampaging killer hunting fuches down by the end and still have that dynamic going strong.

the parallels between them and the barry/gene cousineau relationship, which is fucked up too just in a very different way, are great. love the jealousy it brings and i would even be into a fic set post the season 2 ending, if you could find a way to swing that. though, while i like a little darkness, i would still rather see them fall back into old unhealthy habits than kill each other.

any kind of prequel fic would be amazing too.

and just to be clear i’m more than okay with a sexual relationship between these two but if you don’t want to write it that’s fine. I’d just like all the other aspects of their shitty relationship delved into.

L.A. Confidential (1997)

pretty much all of my bullet pointed likes come into play here. i’ve nominated two characters but i’d be happy with almost any combination of the characters available in the tagset as long as exley is involved in some way.

ships i like: bud/exley,  exley/vincennes,  bud/exley/lynn

but if we matched purely on both bud and exley then:

i love the opposites attract partnership bud and exley have and i like that they both seem angry at their attraction to each other. hate-sex with reluctant feelings? always good. i'd love anything that deals with their perceived difference in intellect and/or education. bud being turned-on by exley's smarts, exley realizing how much he's underestimated bud, them being mutually impressed by each other.

if you choose to go down the ot3 route then:

i love fics where exley shows up in arizona and they fall into weird domesticity. i love seeing how three people--especially three people who aren't used to the idea of poly relationships--work their way towards realizing and accepting what they want.

and while i’m not sure what you could do with this knowledge, i’d just like to add that i’ve read the book and i’m somewhat obsessed with the existence of dream-a-dreamland in general. if you could incorporate that in any way i’d be hugely impressed.

POKEMON Detective Pikachu (2019)

this is totally a last minute request that i’ve edited in but is by no means less wanted than the others. i watched this film back when it came out and was honestly surprised by how much i enjoyed it. i’m a massive pokemon fan and have been since i got my pokemon red when i was seven years old and, let me tell you, getting to see all those growlithes waddling about the real world was like a childhood dream come true.

i had a good time and i moved on.

a few days ago i stumbled on a piece of art : here : and it was like the little goblin that is my brain just sat up straight. the very concept of these characters together had never crossed my mind before that but then suddenly the desire for this just casually strolled through my entire headspace, turning on every light as it went.

i love detective stories, i love cop partnerships, i love hot single dads who happen to be cops with cute little pokemon cop partners. i love that harry is kind of a shitty father but he’s now trying his best. i love that hide had nothing but praise and respect for harry when he meets with tim and that he knew things like tim wanting to be a pokemon trainer when he was younger (meaning he and harry had talked about stuff like this.) i love that hide inexplicably has a spare key to harry’s apartment in his desk drawer. i love how absolutely certain hide was in saying harry loved his son more than anything in the world.

there’s history there is what i’m saying, and i’d love to know more about it.

anything set pre-film would be cool. loose cannon harry throwing his whole being into his job to deal with the loss of his wife and his fractured relationship with his son. hide the tired lieutenant trying to rein him in, quietly talking about tim together, keeping him grounded and safe. all up until he can’t, that is. (great angst potential with hide genuinely believing harry is dead.)

anything set post-film would be even better. harry struggling to find balance between being a father and a cop. probably doing a shitty job at it in the beginning. hide trying to help. would love for tim to be an actual presence (outsider POV could be amazing here.)

may sound strange but my favourite thing that used to happen in digimon a lot is when characters would interact with each other digimon partner. i would be massively into a fic about the two of them growing closer through each other’s pokemon partner.
