I'm starting to find evidence on twitter of antis encouraging each other to shun friends and family for not being one of them and I am deeply concerned. This is some cult shit.

The answer to both of these is GET HELP. You are being brainwashed into thinking that your friends and family are dangerous when you know that they wouldn't hurt anyone. See a therapist, take some time off the internet, reevaluate your situation. Fiction does not take precedence over your loved ones.

Antis calling everything problematic just made me more accepting of problematic content. If you're going to scream and rage and lose your shit over a 56 year old and a 50 year old in a consenting relationship where they have equal power, then I might as well go ahead and ship something that's actually got power imbalances or unhealthy dynamics. This is, for the record, not just a 'me' thing. A really common thing in strict Christian homes in all four of the states I've lived in - West Virginia, Indiana, Utah and Montana - is that if wearing shorts or listening to country music is considered just as vile and evil as actual crimes like underage drinking or theft, then the kids raised in those homes go, "Well, my ass is screwed when I get home anyway. Might as well go ahead and steal that kid's jacket."

Dear TMNT fandom,

A warning for Mikey fans: I and several fanfic writers have been dealing with an anonymous person sending us really really disturbing messages, death threats, etc, about "portraying Mikey being abused by his brothers." None of us are actually writing such stories. But this person has gotten it into their head that I and at least one other author have spearheaded some long campaign to write 2003 Raphael as abusive, I dunno. Cat and I have been writing Mikey as a main character for decades, and if we did ever write anything about the brothers hurting Mikey, it was always unintentional and always resolved. We know this. You know this! This person, obviously very young and a Raph fan, doesn't know this.

You can block and report anonymous messages now. I also learned the person's username and have blocked it. They might keep coming. Report and block. Try not to engage. My friend who is getting the brunt of the attacks is a literal psychologist who counsels young people through trauma and even she's a little disturbed.
