1. What ship were you completely obsessed with when you were a teenager, but now you don't care anymore? Christian/Sean from Nip/Tuck. Letting them go was the first step in me trying to free myself from the demon that is Ryan Murphy and his shows.

2. Which ship would you consider your first one? Eric/Jack from Boy Meets World. I shipped them before I even knew what shipping was. You couldn't tell me shit about them and you still can't. They were, are, and always will be in love. You will never change my mind.

3. Your first fanfic belonged to which couple? So I didn't get into fic until WAY late, like 2008. Which is weird cause I was on message boards and in so many LJ comms, but I just didn't read it. Keeping that in mind, it was Phlochte. I'm not proud but I'm not as embarrassed as I should be. If you knew anything about those two back then, you'd get it okay. lol

4. Do you remember the first couple you saw a fanart over? I don't actually. I still don't seek out fanart, so I'm not surprised I don't remember the first one I saw.

5. Did you ever get into ship discourse? I still have anti-delena and anti-stydia tags on old posts on this account sooo...lol. But I was never in the inbox, messages, comments, or posts of people who actually liked those ships! People just came to me to fight when I would post my hate posts on my own account.

6. Did you used to have any no-otp or have it currently? The previous answer answers that, lol. But I don't have any currently. I've hit the point where if I love a ship that's not happening and/or I hate the main pairing, I tend to just peace out. I only ever had NOTPs cause I wouldn't quit shows, but now I'll drop them. I keep up with my faves through gifsets with no need to actually watch the show.

7. Who were the couple in the last fanfic you read? WangXian. I finished the show in four days and read all five books in five days. I have been OBSESSED for like a month.

8. Currently, do you have any OTPs? I will never not have OTPs, lol. Current: CaptainKeen, CharlieBabe, NorthSonic, KhemThongthai, WangXian, Buddie All time favorites: Stelena, Scallison, Matt/Elektra, Amy/Rory, Ian/Mickey, Spashley, TeamWin, PalmNueng, PrapaiSky, Brittana, Pacey/Joey, DeanCas, Graham/Megan, Amy/Lucy Diamond, Webgott

9. Is there any couple that, to this day, you are extremely mad about not getting together? Of course. I have more noncanon ships than canon since gay ships really just weren't happening back in the day. I also have several ships that got together but broke up, which I think also answers this question. The biggest will always be Shane/Carmen. It's been 18 years since Shane left Carmen at the altar and I'm still mad.

10. Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they are kind of interesting? I'm watching Playboyy and I didn't give a shit about AobPuen and I didn't really care about PromNont but now I'm invested in them both. AobPuen got me in literally one episode. PromNont became intriguing when Prom gave Nont the gun and then it's just built from there.

11. Do you have any ship that, in the past, was considered normal but now you would be cancelled over? I watched and loved Love Syndrome III in 2023 so obviously I have hella ships from the past that would get me cancelled. I regret nothing.

12. What was your favorite crack ship? I honestly think I've only ever had one crack ship and that was ChanBig and it went from laughing online to "I am fully pretending this was actually happening and Chan and Big are fucking in the sky now, thank you, god bless" in record time.

13. Who is the couple you read more fanfics of? This isn't a fair question since a lot of my ships just don't have fic written about them. But I'm currently all up in WangXian fic.

14. What most of your ships usually have in common? I tend to like ships that are ~unhealthy~ ~toxic~ and ~problematic~. No regerts.

15. What do you absolutely hate in a ship? Just not talking to each other. I don't need them to agree, sometimes even on anything, but they have to talk. I don't care if they yell, fight, punch each other, whatever, as long as they talk. I don't like miscommunication because of that either. Because if you're actually talking, there's not miscommunication.

I was discussing TVD somewhere else and was hit with the "if Stefan felt so bad about killing people he should have just taken off his ring and walked into the sun". People can seriously say that from a human perspective the main gang are villains for what they do in MF but then in the same breath say Stefan should just off himself... it kinda makes me sick ngl. Have you ever engaged with this argument? I also love the "but Stefan killed more people than Damon so they're equally bad ppl" one LOL

I have encountered every anti-Stefan/anti-Stelena argument you can think of, lmao, and I love how they don't think you can turn that argument around because Damon could've killed himself too if Stefan ruined his life by forcing him to turn.

I don't really pay much attention to both arguments because the response is, then there wouldn't be a show about these characters. I have engaged with the concept of Stefan being suicidal with a shipper though

whenever i see an SE shipper or an anti SC person in general (nothing towards my SE mutuals ily all <3) claim a power imbalance between stefan and caroline i'm always kinda struggling to understand....

"stefan was not as invested in the relationship than caroline" uhm no that was m*roline, where matt was constantly putting caroline down and inadvertently pitting her against elena. people think that that was the situation when it came to stefan's elena versus caroline narrative (as in which one he wanted as a romantic partner) when ultimately it wasn't true? when stefan was with elena he didn't express romantic attraction to caroline - in fact he politely and gently rejected caroline's advances because of his interest in elena WITHOUT leading caroline on or comparing her to elena or pitting the two women together. stefan never insults caroline as a person (that was matt - 'deep's not really your thing') - other than that idiotic calculator comment which obvs wasn't great but is not the worst thing a white man said about a woman on this show - and he even respects and values caroline/admires her growth from insecure and 'shallow' and petty to levelheaded and assertive and in control WHILE he's still committed to elena. the fact that he was attracted to elena first doesn't necessarily make caroline a runner up/second best to elena either, and that seems to be a common opinion shared between stelena shippers (which is an opinion y'all are entitled to have, i just think it's wrong lol).

and people like to bring out caroline's claim that stefan "only had eyes for elena during their first meeting" which was essentially true i guess, in their anti steroline gifsets. but they forget that when stefan was an amnesiac, he trusted caroline, a girl whom he'd basically "just met," over a man who introduced himself as his brother and a woman who must have informed stefan at some point that she was his "(former) epic love." stefan also called caroline his attractive "best friend" at their first meeting ('you're hotter in person'). stefan made plenty of advances toward caroline (he initiated!!!!!!), romantically and otherwise, and even chose to dance because it made her happy, without her having to plead (which was always the case when he and elena were together). stefan respected her space and the fact that she needed to work through and resolve her issues after liz's death, their relationship was decided on HER terms ('when you are ready for me i'll be ready for you'), and stefan and caroline were equals in their platonic and romantic relationship (one of the healthiest relationships on tvd lbr).

also if any stefan relationship had a power imbalance it was st*lena imo, not steroline. stefan was a 100+ year old man who harrassed and stalked a seventeen year old that looked like his ex, consistently lied to her and ommitted important details throughout s1, basically forced an already traumatized girl to do his emotional labor/help him pull through his addiction, then almost killed her for the sake of his vendetta against klaus (forcing her to relive her bridge related trauma and the death of her parents), and planned to hunt her down/force feed her the cure she repeatedly and clearly communicated that she DIDN'T want. while caroline was the same age as elena and also an insecure teenage girl, which is why it makes sense that steroline could have easily become that kind of dynamic, none of these problems ever came up for steroline. stefan politely rejected caroline (not even as a person like d*mon and m*tt did, insulting and belittling her personality and values, but simply because he was pursuing another love interest), caroline moved on, they built a mutually respectful and fond friendship dynamic, and caroline had an equal amount of power because she wasn't a vulnerable human but a vampire with control (vampirism also clearly gave her a self esteem boost and helped her work through her insecurities), which meant stefan never had an opportunity to take advantage of her vulnerability.

guys, I'm like so tired so exhausted over the shipwar in fandom!! like yeah it's normal to ship differently and can be fun to debate and all but it's when people attack you and make it personal that I've had enough!! the riverdale shipwar is as bad as the vampire diaries one imo for me! but on tvd I didn't ship stelena or bamon so it was a little worse lol but like I'm the type of person who thinks people can ship whatever they want and people should respect it unless that person makes it personal or attacks without being provoked! like in 2016 a anti delena shipper invaded my inbox spouting all kinds of bs like how I'd be a terrible mother because I ship delena and I should give my child up for adoption or miscarry and that's taking things wayyyy too far!! the stress actually caused me to go into labor two months early and my child almost died but when you take things that far it's not okay!! it's a fictional ship!! I definitely would NEVER do that to someone ever! in every show I watch there's shipwar and it's just so tiring because just let people ship and enjoy what they want to and stop trying to erase the other ship just because you hate it and stop tearing the other ship down to.prop yours up!! be respectful and mature like some people it's probably hard to do but there's no need to be that awful to someone!! also don't let a ship ruin your friendship with someone either that's ridiculous!! like I've met some amazing people the last year and they all respect my ships and we'd never let ships ruin our friendship and etc!! shipwar are just terrible that's just all there is too it lol

I miss how years ago on tumblr I could find mostly actual delena posts on the delena tag, including delena meta posts but tag invasion has become so much worse since then that i almost never find delena meta and it's littered with anti delena posts. Ditto for the damon tag. The stelena and stefan tags aren't like that.

Any fan that shows disrespect to the fandom doesn't belong in it. I don't care how they feel, that's me being honest. Posts should be tagged with respect so that fans can block them should they want to. No different than an anti purposefully going to a Delena blog and hating on their posts. If I felt like tagging all of my posts, they'd be tagged respectfully. Not all people adult on social media, so I follow blogs rather than search tags. I follow a great deal of Delena shippers on Twitter. I'm happy they still post on a regular basis.

Delena... Valentine’s smackdown!

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day (which, like this ship, I’m not very fond of), let’s take a closer look at Delena, or more accurately Dullena; even better Damnlena, cause it’s sure as hell a relationship that was damned!

Where to begin with these two? I’m sure anyone with common sense and criteria knows the toxicity of this relationship. And, how utterly frustrating it was to have it shoved down our throats throughout the series under the pretension of true love, epic love (the audacity!). We can thank Plec’s highly misconception of love for that one! 

So, I wanted to go into the subject from a different angle, by describing why Delena fans believe this relationship is true love, and work from there… Ah, this is gonna be fun!  =)

I’ve read so many heated discussions in which Delena stans defend their ship and explain why Delena is the definition of true love. And I got to say, I read some pretty disturbing arguments… do people really think this is love? That’s scary! Others were just out crazy, ridiculous, and quite funny actually! Anyway, let’s breakdown a few:

Delena fan: “He met her first.”

Answer: Really? This is an argument? How is this even relevant? Damon met Elena before Stefan did… oh, then I guess this really must be true love! Love has nothing to do with first, middle, last… So, given the nonsense of this “argument”, we can throw it right out the window. Next!

Delena fan: “He was a stranger and he told her to get everything she wanted from life.”

Answer: Well, if you are a 16-year-old girl talking to a strange man in the middle of the night, in the middle of nowhere, maybe your instincts should be telling you to run! Who gives a fuck about his advice! Another case of pure absurdity, so this one is also out. What else you got?

Delena fan: “Technically he's all 'wrong' for Elena, but he loves her. She brings out the best in him. He trusts her.”

I love the highlight on the “wrong”, just hilarious, good to know that at least some Delena fans have some sense of humor. So, she brings out the best in him? O.K, let’s name just a few things Damon has done for or with Elena and determine if these are features of a person at their best:

-  Killed her brother out of spite

- Turned her into a vampire, against her will

- Betrayed and lied to his brother

- Killed her friend Aaron

- Lied and manipulated her (multiple times)

- Taunted and threatened her friends (multiple times)

- Got her to switch her humanity switch off, and well, you know what happened.

- Kidnapped and tried to kill her brother, again

The list can go on, but I think it’s safe to say Elena did not bring the best out in Damon, he was as selfish and egocentric, as usual, if not more, with all things involving Elena. As for the “trust” thing, well if you have to lie, manipulate, and pretend to be someone else with someone, I’m pretty sure trust is not what you feel towards them. So, as far as this argument goes, sorry but you are very wrong. Next!

Delena fan: He never tried to hurt her, because deep down inside there's always been a part of him that feels for her.

Answer: When I read this one I just fucking laughed to tears! Do we really need to provide proof? I would hope not, but given that Delena fans seem to be blind to so many things, here we go again (as mentioned above): killed her brother, kidnapped, tortured and tried to kill her brother again, killed her friend from Whitmore, tormented and tortured her psychologically, taunted and threatened her friends; and on and on.... Sorry, no matter how hard you try to avoid, nop, wrong! Next! 

Delena fan: “He always took three seconds to realize Katherine wasn’t her, unlike the others.”

Answer: Uhm, did you forget (or just blocked it from your mind) that Damon went on a killing tantrum because “Elena” aka Katherine, had broken up with him? Out! Next!

Delena fan: “He likes her because she knows how to laugh.”

Answer: Hmmm?! Elena is one of the characters with the least sense of humor on the show... better luck with the next one.

Delena fan: “She was the first one to feel sorry for him about Katherine.”

Answer: What is this really telling us? I mean, come on, pretty much the worse feeling you can have for someone is pity!! Perhaps this has a lot more to do with Elena’s pathos of justifying the actions of others to make herself feel better. So, another one bites the dust!

Delena fan: She's his humanity.

Answer: Another lol with this one… so, I’ll say it again, Damon has done some of the most fucked up shit (“humanity” on) in the name of or because of Elena.

 Delena fan: She saved him, and he saved her.

Answer: From what exactly? Not sure what you mean, please do explain!

 Delena fan: He didn't compel her because he wanted it to be real.

Answer: That this was even an argument completely blew my mind; it’s like saying: he didn’t beat her so it’s fine... WTF!!!!!!! Really, the conception people have of love really is worrisome! 

 Delena: She always knew everything Damon's done, and still loved him.

Answer: More like justified him to make HERSELF feel better about it, never actually held him accountable or made him deal with his decisions, unlike Bonnie, just so you know ;)

O.K, at one point I thought, I have to stop. If I read any more of this BS I’m going to go crazy! But mostly just get really depressed at thinking that there are so many people out there that actually believe this type of toxic relationship is actually true love!

So, there it is, just a brief un-valentine for Valentine’s… Delena is one of the worse representations I’ve seen of true love and the fact that Plec portrayed it as such pisses me off till this day! Sorry, Julie, we won’t buy into your bullshit! Thank god for fanfic that can set you straight!

For the ship grading meme: Stelena, Delena, Bangel, Spuffy, Caroline/Matt, Caroline/Tyler, Klaroline, Fred/Wesley, Cangel, Frunn. I'm expecting some amusingly low grades here :)

(Suffice to say, these are all about my subjective tastes/interpretations)

Stelena: E. 

It’s bland, has a few nominally cute moments, but mostly avoids being too toxic. But it’s also just… badly written.

Delena: F Minus Minus Minus Minus Minus. 

Damon’s love for Elena comes out of nowhere, Elena’s for Damon is equally inexplicable, the whole dynamic does nothing but make both characters less watchable when they’re actually together, and I don’t even care much for Elena overall anyway. (I mean, I don’t hate her, but…)

Bangel: E Minus.

Not interesting to me, not my thing, has no way of working post AtS Season 1 short of some major life changes for both of them. Also, at least 50% of all hardcore Bangel shippers annoy the crap out of me, either with their Xander bashing or them taking their Anti-Spikeness too far, or other such nonsense.

Spuffy:  E Minus. 

In theory, I could maybe almost like it. As written, it makes no sense in the show, 20% of hardcore Spuffy shippers are absolutely insufferable and another 20% are annoying at a minimum, especially once their anti-Angel arguments start to get increasingly nonsensical. That and there’s no logical Reason for Spike not to have been killed sometime between 4x20 and 5x12 - after, there’s some logic for his continued presence (Some). But Spike’s love for Buffy comes from left field, Buffy’s,…. thing with him in Season 6 makes no sense in it’s initiation, in a lot of ways, nor most of the ways she acts regarding him in Season 7 - just… poorly written, poorly executed, and Spike muddies things that did not need to be muddied.

If you asked me which I disliked more, I’d say I dislike Spuffy as a ship more, but I’m honestly more annoyed by your average hardcore Bangel shipper than your average hardcore Spuffy shipper.

Caroline/Matt: B. 

It was cute.

Forwood: B Plus

I like it, but it gets so overshadowed that it’s hard to really get into. 

Klaroline: F. 

Klaus being into her comes from nowhere, Klaus hung around on the show way too long, Klaus is… just fucking awful without actually being interesting or fun anything worthwhile. Caroline being into him makes no sense of it ever happening - attracted to him, sure, I could sorta buy the hatefucking they did in TVD season 5, but that’s all. 

Fresley: E Minus Minus

In theory, maybe it could have been done well. But with the show creating a stupid love triangle and darkening Wesley in all sorts of fun and interesting ways, Fresley is just… no. Not to mention the handful of creepy-stalker episodes he gets on her (3x14, 3x15 and there’s one in Season 4, where it’s a bit creepy)… He loves the idea of Fred, because he feels like a good person should love her, and her loving him would ‘prove’ the inner darkishness he’s got isn’t really a part of him. And Fred deserves better than that. They would be equally terrible for eachother. (Though if I never again have to hear the words ‘Madonna/Whore’ or ‘Mommy Issues’ in regards to Wesley re: Fresley, it would be too soon)

Cangel: C Plus

It could have been done much better, and I’m too diehard of a Xandelia shipper to ever really ship Cangel, but it had it’s moments, and I categorically disagree with any argument that says Angel never loved Cordelia (especially when it comes from bitter Bangel shippers)

Frunn: B

It’s cute. Should have been a thing longer, but I think they wrote the collapse of it from Gunn’s end reasonably well, tbh. The Succeeding Fresley was not good, however.

Like you, and as you advise, I try not to give much thought to DEr takes or figure out the why/how of their thinking. Because, to me, it basically usually comes down to them NOT critically watching the show. It’s not that they have opinions to disagree with, it’s that their points contradict canon context. It’s the epitome of something initiumseries wrote in a post that’s stood out to me: “Most people consume media passively and project what they want/like onto what they're viewing, rather than being critical of what they're watching and taking it at face value”

So, I love reading new posts and any from your master lists because the way you breakdown and respond to anti-asks is amazing and hilarious… but sometimes it’s just exhausting and pointless to even acknowledge their points because they’re never anything new and sometimes I’m impressed that you’re able to decipher their asks well enough to even write a response LOL.

Anyways… oops sorry, this was going to be a short “lol ders” inspired by the ask mentioning a twitter DEr lol, but it turned into a dumb little rant and appreciation applause for you ha.

Oh yeah, I definitely don't answer all of them because it can be fatiguing, it generally depends on my mood and whether or not I find it amusing at the time or just annoying, but another thing about me answering anti asks is I don't do it to convince them or do it because I think they'll realize what they're doing, I do it a) for my amusement b) for SErs to get a kick out of something, it kind of has nothing to do with DErs at all hahaha, it's really for us to have a conversation.

Can u please compare klaroline to st*roline and how different Caroline loves them

I’m usually not the one to write those long metas about my OTP comparing them to my NOTP unless I’m asked a specific question I prefer to reblog other people’s. That being said I think I’ve done at least one meta containing the gist of this questions answer. I’ll try and summarise my thoughts and add some links at the bottom.

First I want to start by saying that I don’t think Caroline loves Klaus. I believe she had and has very intense feelings for him, very conflicting confusing feelings for him. 

But their relationship wasn’t developed nearly long enough for me to concede that Caroline loves Klaus or is in love with him.

I think Klaus’ love for Caroline is intense, selfish at times 

but more importantly, I think Klaus is an important part of Caroline’s development as a vampire because while Stefan may have taught Caroline to cope with her vampirism Klaus was part of her accepting and dare I say, embracing it.

I am firmly in the camp that Stefan never really got over Elena and that his love for her was so strong that he could never have loved Caroline with the same intensity. I believed he loved Caroline, I believed she was his best friend, that he would die for her but I think it was just love, not necessarily a platonic love (although to me st*roline’s dynamic worked so much better when they were brotherly and sisterly) but not an intense life-changing love either.

Plus Stefan had to be talked into loving Caroline

Caroline rightly pointed out that Stefan treated Elena way better than he treated her in terms of letting her make her own choices and giving her the respect she deserves.

I think this is partly because Stefan has always felt responsible for Caroline (remember that sibling-like bond we talked about?) it’s not an excuse for ignoring her wishes but their dynamic has always been: Caroline is struggling with vampire stuff, Stefan is here to help and vice versa. They’re good friends I don’t think they know how to be in a relationship.

I think for Stefan, Caroline was convenient and Caroline seemed like the next best thing and the right choice but I think they were kidding themselves. Stefan settled for her.

As for Caroline. I think Stefan was her ideal. Stefan was the perfect boyfriend to Elena especially in Caroline’s eyes

he was also the perfect guy in general, handsome, gallant, just, kind, heroic, he didn’t drink from humans if he could help it and he saved her in a sense. He taught her how to cope with vampirism and the morals and survival techniques he showed her, lined up perfectly with her own view of right and wrong. 

Caroline is very pragmatic and Stefan by all accounts on paper was the sensible option. Especially after she tried to follow her heart with Tyler who broke it despite the fact that he was supposed to be the love of her life.

Caroline’s always strived for the ideal. She’s a perfectionist, she holds on to the idea that she can craft her world perfectly around her if she tries hard enough. It’s evident in her speech to Klaus in 5x11

The notion of having a normal life and still keeping moral superiority is absurd if you’re a vampire, a fact Klaus consistently attempts to point out to Caroline

and yet Caroline still clings to it and she clings to Stefan because he fits that nice neat framework.

I also think Caroline doesn’t see Stefan for who he is but this idea of him she has worked out in her head. While Elena runs toward ripper!Stefan grabs him by the face and says: I’m here, I accept this. Caroline turns away and says: no this isn’t you, this isn’t the Stefan I know and shuts her eyes and buries her head in the sand (something she can’t and has never done with Klaus I might point out)

Without realizing that gallant, good Salvatore, hero hair Stefan, is one-half of the coin and the ripper is the other. Stefan has many flaws most of which I think Caroline refuses to acknowledge until they become a huge problem in the relationship.

Stefan is complacent and passive in his relationship with Caroline while he was extremely active with Elena.

Idk where full-on, romantic Klaroline would have taken us but romantic!SC was going nowhere fast…
