Cry to sleep, wait a week
Again
Oh
Amen
Counting sheep, crossing streets
Everyone's dead ends
Oh
Amen
And I'm bored
I could be so much more
Than I am
Than I am
I need to go
I heard there's a place for me
One that nobody knows
One that goes away with me
So I drove
Mountains away
To place that ain't real
To a place that ain't real
And I drove
Mountains away
To a place that ain't real
That's where I wanna stay
That place over the hill
Where you dream about crossing
It's not a cry for help
To rethink your options
It's your mom's bakery in Maine
It's that cabin in Sweden
It's the going offline
It's "Next year, I'll go vegan"
It's not a "Woe is me"
It's a hold the door open
That's a fantasy world
That's the one that I've chosen
Somewhere over the hill
Where you cry without speaking
Leave your door slightly creaking
It's all leaking away
When there's nothing to say
There's no point anymore
The words touch your mouth
And they fall to the floor
So why try to move a hair
When you barely exist?
That's a fantasy world
That's where I wanna live
And I float
Mountains away
Where no one can stay...
And I go
Not in a rush

Riovaz Delivers an Intoxicating Cocktail of House and Anti-Pop in ‘Better Late Than Forever’
Tumblr media
Riovaz is the very definition of a hidden gem. The New Jersey native is quietly amassing streams in the tens of millions, thanks largely in part to a penchant for dance-fueled flights of anti-pop whose infectious effect can be felt beyond the trending sound page of TikTok. While previous singles “Prom Night” and “I Feel Fantastic” both experienced their viral moments on the video-sharing platform, it is the rapidly rising artist’s latest EP that presents his most cohesive vision yet.
On Better Late Than Forever, Riovaz lets himself run free, chasing the cathartic highs of dancefloor anti-pop before delving headfirst into the embrace of a stripped-back emo stunner. The aforementioned “I Feel Fantastic” is a clear standout on the EP, placing the New Jersey artist’s longing lyrics atop an otherworldly house beat. The effect is instantaneously mesmerizing; think stumbling into an impromptu Omar Apollo set at a New York club at 3 a.m.
“God Save the Girl” and “The Rex” launch forward in similar fashion, presenting an intoxicating cocktail of anti-pop, house, and a genre-splintering melancholy that defies the surging undercurrent laid at its feet. The latter track, “The Rex,” in particular makes no qualms about bringing Riovaz’s love for dance music to the forefront, opening on a relentless beat that feels like it was made for the UK underground.
However, the greatest switch-up on Better Late Than Forever is found not in its dizzying dancefloor meditations but arrives in its closing moments. “My Youth” signals the culmination of Riovaz’s latest effort not by seeking out an even more elusive high but by stripping everything away for a genuinely tender moment of reflection. It’s a dramatic heel turn that in many ways feels like the B-side of what’s come before. If the remainder of Better Late Than Forever is trying to escape your emotions in the thrall of the dancefloor, “My Youth” is the somber yet beautiful walk home at 4 a.m. as the sun peeks up just beyond the horizon.

DARVO: Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender.
An abuser denies the abuse ever took place, attacks the person that was abused (often the victim) for attempting to hold the abuser accountable for their actions, and claims that they are actually the victim in the situation, thus reversing what may be a reality of victim and offender. It often involves not just "playing the victim" but also victim blaming.
TL;Dr: Stop pathologizing neurodivergent people and individualizing abuse, and start treating abusers and bullies as a social failing that are products of privilege.
Unless you want to insist that every bitchass who's ever plagued marginalized people has NPD.

hilarious how the r/trueswifties gals are defending this album with their last breath and saying the critics and the (well deserved) hate are just because she's a successful WoMAn
babes. shes an unethical billionaire who has such a big monopoly that her FULL album was played on every radio station, who took you all for a ride with all her variants and is so overexposed that her mediocrity is starting to be visible to the general public, she dedicated the whole album to a racist nazi (sorry. tattooed golden retriever), and the lyrics you call a masterpiece are actually horrid, but sure, it's all because she's a woman

Guys I’m genuinely tweaking on how Feyre didn’t learn how to read. She had tutors etc, and I doubt any of her family paid attention to her because Nesta says “I would have taught you if I had known” not an exact quote but basically, and Feyre was like “you wouldn’t” but they were pretty rich for a while so she should have know and the audacity of her to say that like GIRL MAYBE TELL SOMEONE.

chase plato Cements Himself as an Artist to Watch With “Stranger Than Fiction”
Tumblr media
One of my favorite things about this job is observing artists in the very infancy of their careers, seeing what direction they choose to take while they’re still in the very process of discovering themselves. Do they continue to ardently polish the sound they’ve landed on until it shines like a diamond? Do they experiment with reckless abandon until they land in the niche that speaks to them? Or, are they like chase plato, for who the very act of creation seems to come all too naturally, a necessary extension of oneself that cares not for genre or any self-imposed limitations.
Preceded by the explosive “RIP KOBE” and N.E.R.D-inspired “ICE CREAM MAN” “STRANGER THAN FICTION” marks the third single from the 19-year-old producer, rapper, and songwriter based out of Detroit and developed by the Assemble Sound team. And while it’s his only third single to date, you would be forgiven for thinking of this as a polished leftfield gem from an underground veteran. It might have something to do with the foundation of “STRANGER THAN FICTION” and how it very much was a process to create a wholly original vision that spoke to plato.
“‘STRANGER THAN FICTION’ is one attempt of many to do something honest and original. I put so much of myself into this song and visuals. The track is completely self produced and mixed, the video was directed by me and my creative partner victor grisson, and the clothes used in the video were designed by me," shares plato.
The result is a deeply beautiful, saturated music video that matches the frenetic, mile-a-minute undercurrent of the song. Pitched-up vocals question the void, a lover, a friend turned stranger, with the only interruption being plato’s series of emotional confessionals. It would be an understatement to say plato put his everything into “STRANGER THAN FICTION;” this is a creative extension of plato’s very being.

i genuinely, really like aang, but keeping his writing in book 3 and his writing in the comics in mind, i don’t think it’s all that implausible for him to get the sort-of-antagonist role in fics depicting katara-ships other than KA.
reiterating, i like aang: he’s adorable, he’s funny, and he’s nice. but i believe there’s something to be said about how his ‘niceness’ is written and seen as being The Reason he ‘deserves’ a love interest. his thinking is self-centred, and though that’s a believable flaw for a kid who’s, like, twelve, we’re shown that it’s a consistent character trait which is never treated as an issue… even though it is. (and if he’s mature enough to start dating the girl he’s going to marry and have children with, he should also be mature enough to be criticised for his less-than-savoury parts of his personality, no?)
it’s not OOC to write him as being possessive of katara even when they’re not dating, because he canonically is. it’s not OOC to write him as not respecting and/or noticing katara’s boundaries, because he canonically blows past them. the ideas that he might not mature much later on, that he might be wilfully and forcefully oblivious to any discomfort in the KA relationship, that he might continue shoving katara(‘s culture) aside—none of that is necessarily OOC, because aang does not go through significant character development in book 3 + the comics.
in The Promise, there’s that weird moment wherein aang is briefly anti-miscegenation and doesn’t change his mind until katara reminds him supporting that would affect him (him!!! his relationship with katara alone!!) personally. in TLOK, there’s the suggestion that aang never actively pushed for bumi & kya to learn about air nomad culture and there’s the heavy implication that aang never told the air acolytes about bumi & kya’s existence. additionally, tenzin doesn’t even have a hint of water tribe heritage anywhere in his house to honour katara’s side: he’s all air nomad (though?? nuclear family dynamic), in spite of being mixed.
don’t get me wrong, i vastly prefer fic and hc’s in which aang is a katara supporter first and foremost, and that’s also how i prefer to move through a fandom space barring meta and analyses. but i also don’t think making him jealous and petty when she dates someone else is a misinterpretation of the text we’ve been given; canon!aang shows the signs to become that way, and it’s not wrong to read his future self that way nor is it incorrect fandom-ing to highlight these traits
