A/N - This was based on a TikTok that my bestie saw where Sebastian kicked a stunt double into a table for TFATWS.

The crisp morning air whipped your hair around as you walked onto set. Birds chirped around you and the faint colors of the morning's sunrise blanketed across the sky like a painting. This wasn't the first time you'd filmed in Georgia, but it was the first time you were needed for this particular stunt.

As a stunt double, you had to be prepared for anything. Cuts, bruises, blood, and even broken bones were possible in this line of work. Your parents supported you, sure, but it still concerned them whenever you visited them sporting a new injury.

The new series you'd been a part of was called The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and you couldn't be happier. Being an avid Marvel fan, you jumped at the opportunity when they began looking for stunt actors.

Taking a sip of your caramel macchiato, you caught sight of the director walking toward you.

"Y/N! Good morning! Lovely weather isn't it?"

A toothy grin spread across your face as you readjusted your bag on your shoulder.

"Mornin' Kari! Yes, it's so nice out."

She handed you a packet and began to walk alongside you.

"So, I wanted to talk to you about today's scenes. Well, one in particular. I know you're used to your line of work, but I always like to talk to my doubles to make sure they're one hundred percent okay with everything."

You nodded and set your coffee down on a nearby table. At first glance, it didn't look like you'd be doing anything major, but something caught your eye on the last page.

"It's this one here." Kari's finger hovered over the middle of the page. "This is a warehouse scene. It'll be you, Mackie, and Sebastian. Now, the writers and I set the scene up to have you running away from Seb and Anthony."

She gestured to the stacks of boxes and shelving units in the makeshift set they built. "Once you come through that door and cut a hard right around those boxes there, Anthony is going to try and grab you, your jacket comes off slowing you down a bit. Seb is going to be coming from the opposite side and he is scripted to kick you into that table over there."

Kari glanced at your face for some sort of reaction, so you opted for a soft smile.

"I appreciate your concern. You're one of the only directors who have asked my opinion. I'm down for anything you want to throw at me. I signed up for this, and if I gotta be kicked by Sebastian Stan to make the episode good then so be it."

She laughed and placed a hand on your shoulder. "Alright, great! I'll see you in about an hour."

Forty-five minutes later you made your way to the warehouse. To someone who wasn't used to a film set, it would look like total chaos.

The crew ran around setting up lights, getting camera angles right, and moving set pieces to ensure the scene was ready. Sebastian's costume designer was making sure Bucky's prosthetic arm fit properly and Anthony was munching on a donut in a nearby chair.

"Y/N! Over here! I saved you a seat!"

Smiling, you chuckled and made your way over to him.

"Morning Mack! Good to see you!"

He offered you the box of assorted donuts.

"Thanks! So, how's Seb today? He seems...I don't know...off?"

Anthony swallowed the last of his breakfast and sighed.

"Seabass isn't particularly keen with today's shoot. He doesn't want to hurt you, Y/N."

You let out a breath and patted him on the knee.

"I'm gonna go talk to him."

As if on queue, the blue-eyed Romanian glanced warily in your direction. You moved to stand in his line of sight and looked up at him.

"Hey, don't look at me like that. You have nothing to be scared of, Sebastian."

He shook his head and ran the fingers of his right hand down your arm.

"You can't ask me to be okay when I'm scripted to kick you in the ribs, Y/N. These are steel-toed boots for God's sake!"

Your free hand grabbed his left one and began rubbing small circles to try and soothe him.

"Seb, listen, I signed up for this. I can take it."

His concerned eyes locked onto your Y/E/C ones silently pleading you not to go through with it.

"How about this? How about we get this shot in one take, hm? Put some extra Seabass spice into Bucky's demeanor and give me one of those stern Winter Soldier stares or something. Blow Kari away and then we only have to do this once, okay?"

He closed his eyes and licked his lips. The action of his tongue ignited a fire deep in your core that you tried desperately to ignore.

"Alright….alright I'll do it, but I'm gonna go all out. I don't want to do this more than once."

"Okay everybody, places, please! We've got a lot to cover and only so many hours in the day."

Kari moved to sit behind the main camera while the rest of the crew got to their designated spots. She began to call out the rest of her orders as you, Seb, and Anthony moved into position.

"Roll sound!"

"Falcon and Winter Soldier warehouse fight sequence, scene twelve, take one,….marker,….and ACTION!"

After a deep breath, you cleared your mind as you shoved the metal door open and ran. It was dark, mountains of boxes flanked you at a dead end.

"Hey! Stop!"

The sound of heavy footsteps closed in behind you as you took a hard right. Fingers gripping onto your jacket made you stumble, and you quickly freed yourself before breaking into a dead sprint.

"Buck, she's headed right for you!"

As soon as you passed the last row of shelves, a boot connected hard against your side making you cry out in agony. Your body collided with a wood table smashing two of the legs. Your left hand wiped the trickle of blood from your brow as you scrambled backwards away from the super soldier.

He stalked toward you, a murderous look in his eyes as he brought his boot down to rest on your sternum.

"Where is it?"

You struggled underneath him as you thrashed from side to side doing your best to break free.

"Like I'd ever tell you, Barnes!"

His eyes darkened and the pressure of his weight increased on your chest making it hard to breathe as he knelt down on his opposite knee.

"I said…" He hovered directly over your face, his metal hand gripping your chin tightly. "Where is it?!"

He raised his voice and squeezed your face a little tighter. Your free hand tried to pry him away, but he was too strong.

He licked his lips and leaned down so he was inches from your face. Your core throbbed, arousal dripping onto your panties as you tried to regulate your breathing.

I've seen people have this take one too many times and Its pissing me off.

BUCKY DOESN'T NEED TO BE IN CAP 4

Fucking christ. I love Bucky and Seb but lets be honest Cap 4 ISNT ABOUT BUCKY. It's not like TFATWS where he was literally in the title. This is a movie about SAM. Literally 2/3 other Cap movies were about Bucky or had Bucky as a center plot focus. Chill.

If Seb/Bucky is in the flim, I'm so for it! I think Seb and Anthony have amazing chemistry on and off screen! I definitely want to see them again! But the movie isn't going to be horrible just because Bucky isn't there. I'm not excited about Cap 4 just for Bucky Barnes.

I want to see Sam soar high as Cap. I want to see Anthony! That's what I'm so excited about, ANTHONY FUCKING MACKIE. And alot of people agree with me.

If You really are hoping for Bucky to come back or you like Seb over Anthony, Fine. That's totally fine. Do you. But it's fucking gross to completely ignore Sam like this, when it's his flim. It's also very gross to act like Anthony is a worst actor than Seb and Seb is the only thing that can carry the movie. They are both talented men! Just because you have a bias doesn't mean you get to be shitty, SMH.

If Seb is in Cap 4, Great! I will be watching it. If not, I will be watching it. And I will judge the movie on its writing accordingly. If you don't want to see the movie because Bucky isn't there, Good for you. But keep that bullshit to yaself.

with some of the mcu cast’s comments on z’s post now i’m wondering how much they knew about them the first time? like did cevans, anthony mackie or seb stan know? did rdj or mark ruffalo know? brie larson or leticia wright? i think leticia and the ffh cast went somewhere while they were in london.

I'm pretty sure most of the Marvel family knew. Tom could barely keep it a secret from a fan years ago that he had a girlfriend. There's no way his cast mates didn't know that they were dating lol. 😅🤣

I feel like people close to them all knew (even the MEDIA knew, c'mon now... 😏). Plus, in regular conversation it's hard NOT to mention your "girlfriend" or "boyfriend" because you're usually doing things with them, or calling or texting them, like they typically come up in regular conversation sometimes.

I'm not sure about other actors that he didn't really work super closely with like Leticia or Brie, but RDJ, Mark, Chris, etc. I'm pretty sure they knew. I have always suspected that when Tom visited RDJ in LA/Malibu that year and went hiking with him after he and Z went through their breakup, I have always felt that RDJ was partly trying to encourage Tom cuz he was going through a LOT back then...the Tomdaya breakup, the Sony/Disney fiasco....The Tolivia/media frenzy/invasion of privacy, etc....

Idk why, but that was always the impression that I got. 🤷

RDJ is like his second dad lol.... 😅 He has probably given him a LOT of great advice on how to handle certain things in the public eye, and how he personally learned a lot through his own mistakes.

am i the only one mad at what marvel is doing for the cast of thunderbolts? why does it have such a great known cast meanwhile i feel like canwo's only big stars are Mackie and Harrison obviously. and the fact that it follows right after canwo, it pisses me off. feige better give us another famous name cast apart of Harrison. not that Mackie and Harrison aren't enough, they are but c'mon, you gotta bring in big names so people go to see a movie, specially when it comes to marvel because it seems like everyone's tired of them but if you've got a cast mainly known with a big fan base then it shouldn't be such a big issue but here we are

It's the first time, I'm seeing this take because so far, I've seen have the opposite vision. A lot of people were unhappy with Harrison Ford being in the movie because they were afraid Sam would be sidelined in his own movie, but personally I don't feel like that would be the case.

I don't mind and I think he'll be a great addition to the cast, but it doesn't mean that I want to see more actors joining the main cast.

I've heard so many rumors about Cap 4, rumors that the Humk might be joining.

We'll see how it goes but anyway, I'm sure Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly and Harrison Ford will do a great job!

The strength of Marvel movies isn't only the cast but the marketing done around the movie, that's what makes people want to go. So it will all depend on what kind of marketing Disney/Marvel decides to do. The Eternals had thé greatest cast of any mcu movie ever, Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Gemma Chan and 2 of the Game of Thrones brothers and still didn't do as good as other mcu movies, on the other hand, Shang-Chi had a cast with actors that were mostly unknown to a lot of people(except Tony Leung) and did better at the box office than Eternals did. I liked both movies but I just meant that big names aren't the only think the audience will look for.

One thing I wanted to mention to is that it makes sense that Thunderbolts would be adding names because it's an ensemble cast, wheareas Captain America 4, has one character who's clearly the lead? ( I don't know if this makes sense😂)

Long story short: I like that Harrison Ford will be in the movie but that's more than enough, I don't want them to add any more actors. I appreciate you sending me this ask because I'm always happy to have these discussions and have insights from other people.

Captain America 4 doesn't need to add more "Big shot" actors to the list, Anthony will deliver but Disney also has to do their job and do the marketing properly as they would do it for any other of their movie.

Anybody has thoughts on this?

365 Marvel Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…

April 27th - Captain America / Sam Wilson

Samuel Thomas Wilson grew up in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City. As a young adult, he became a social worker and community organizer. He had a special affinity for birds and very much wanted to try his hand at being a falconer. As such he booked a vacation where he traveled to a remote island in search of a falcon chick who he could train.

As it turned out, this particular island had become overrun by the evil organization known as The Exiles, a paramilitary group of neo-nazis who followed The Red Skull. Captain America had also come to the island in pursuit of The Exiles. He and Sam Wilson ended up teaming up so to defeat these villains. Cap felt that the native residents of the island would benefit from a symbol to rally behind. To this end, Cap had Wilson wear a falcon-inspired costume and trained the young man in advanced combat. Wilson became ‘The Falcon’ and proved a hugely apt pupil; the pair ended up making short work of the Exiles, defeating the villains and expelling them form the isle.

The Falcon and Cap’s teamwork together proved so effective that Cap asked Wilson to continue on as his partner in crime fighting. At the same time, Wilson had come across an adolescent falcon who he named ‘Redwing.’ Training did not appear necessary as Sam and Redwing seemed to share a psychic bond. Soon Sam found that he could see what Redwing saw and, overtime, this power expanded so that Sam could commune with all birds in a large vicinity around him. The source of his power remains mysterious. The Red Skull suggested he was the one who granted The Falcon these powers, but this is likely one of The Skull’s many lies and it is more probable that Wilson possesses an inborn power not unlike those possessed by Mutants.

The Falcon continued on as Captain America’s partner for many missions. He even temporarily worse Captain America costume and shield during a time in which Steve Rogers was believed to have been killed in action.

Later, again as the Falcon, Wilson received assistance from the Black Panther, who created a specialized harness for Wilson that enables him to fly at high speeds and with great dexterity and maneuverability.

Shortly thereafter, The Falcon was recruited as a member of The Avengers and served alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. The Falcon sided with Cap during the Superhero Civil War. Following this event and the apparent assassination of Steve Rogers, The Falcon aided Bucky Barnes in his efforts to step into Steve’s shoes and act as the new Captain America. The Falcon, Bucky and the Avengers were later involved in a mission that resulted in the return of Steve Rogers who, shortly thereafter, resumed the mantle of Captain America.

Some time later, Steve was sidelined once again when the formula that had kept him young stopped working. This time it was Sam who was asked to wield the shield as the new Captain America. He reluctantly accepted and proved a more than capable replacement, despite the fact that there were a number of loud, bigoted critics who took exception to a Black man assuming the role of the Sentinel of Liberty. It proved an incredible challenge to Wilson in that he was forced to contend with racism and difficult social political matters alongside costume super villains and evil scientists.

Wilson returned to his role as The Falcon once Roger’s regained his youth, yet donned the shield, stars and stripes once more during the Secret Empire event. More recently, Wilson and Rogers have decided that they would both act as Captain America, sharing the mantle as well as the burden of being the symbol of a nation still striving to attain greatness.

Sam Wilson has featured prominently in the Marvel cinematic Universe as both The Falcon as well as Captain America, portrayed in both instances by actor Anthony ‘cut the check’ Mackie. The hero first appeared in the pages of Captain America Vol. 1 #117 (1969).

I feel like this has been discussed before. Didn’t Jennifer Lawrence leave CAA because she said the scripts she was getting handing to her by her team weren’t any good? That she had to wrestle control back?

I feel like CAA actors do more franchises, big budget films, while WME actors do more artsy and independent projects.

I could be wrong and this could just be a weird thing that worked it’s way into my head.

Also I feel like this has been mentioned before too, but Jim Toth was a pretty great agent. He went on to Quibi (disaster) and Chris stayed with CAA anywhere. But Jim Toth represented some heavy weights who did push for good scripts.

Chris also told on himself that his agent (Jim Toth) would tell him a script sucked when Chris would read it and say it was good, lol.

I think it’s a combination of factors. 1. He has a bad script picker. 2. He doesn’t have the same heavy weight agent. 3. He worked less and less and didn’t cultivate his career.

You want to see someone who works constantly? Go see Anthony Mackie’s IMBD page. That dude is constantly working! You may not know all the projects but he must work straight through all year!

Chris is hot, indecisive, and kinda lazy honestly. But then I can’t judge cause I would be too if I had it like that. But as a fan, I’m more like ‘Eh’ over him anymore. I’m just losing interest. Like I swear I must have sent in a similar ask before!

We discussed this briefly the other day, but his current agent (Joel Lubin) has some serious heavy hitters on his roster right now, so I don't think that's the issue. I just don't think Chris wants to work as much as his fans want him to. And that's totally his prerogative. 🧜🏻‍♀️

2023 Movie Journey #5: Ant-Man

ant-man. i loved this movie! it’s just an all-around good time, one of the best franchises in the whole mcu (for me, it’s now my second-favorite, after black panther).

and the story of me watching this is a fun one: i bought my ticket to see quantumania before i had ever seen this one or its sequel, presuming based on the cast and everybody i know liking these movies that i had really zero chance of regretting that choice. i just barely squeezed in these movies after buying the ticket--i watched this the night before going to the theater and then i got up early to squeeze the sequel into my morning before i left to see ant-man 3.

because of that time crunch, though, i didn’t fully review these after watching them. i took notes that look more like stream of consciousness bullet points, and now it’s like a year later and i have to make those make sense! lol. here goes.

first off, the action sequences in this movie were way more dynamic because of how it played with the size shifting, and as somebody who desperately needs a reason to care about action sequences, i enjoyed that. they kept it interesting. on top of that, it had so much heist and warmth and fantasy science that this movie balanced the (for me, excessive) action.

i got a full-blown anxiety stomachache during the big heist, because i liked all of the characters and didn’t want any of them to get hurt. special mention here goes out to ant-thony the flying ant: i loved him as soon as we met him, and i also had an instant fear that he wouldn’t survive. thanks, honey i shrunk the kids, for permanently scarring me emotionally as a child. now i am an adult who is terrified of bugs but also has to let them live in my spaces because i cannot kill them.

scott lang is probably the most sympathetic superhero, though of course that’s subjective. but even though he’s not my favorite (that’s been shuri since black panther), the fact that he only cares about two things in the world when we meet him--and that’s his daughter, and punishing greedy evil rich people and helping those they hurt? just, excellent. this is marvel doing leverage, and i have no complaints.

the graphics of the ants are done really well in this, the cgi wasn’t annoying at all...but they still squick me out. i just don’t like bugs. ant-thony deserved a memorial from scott, though. i didn’t like the feeling that he was replaced by a giant ant pet at the end like all ants are interchangeable. scott had bonded with him! i get that during the action he couldn’t exactly stop and reflect or anything, but either you named your ant friend and you’re genuinely bummed he died, or it’s a punchline and you’ll never think about him again. i prefer the latter.

and like i said, i loved all the characters, but luis’s monologues in the form of attempting to relay important information are the literal best. he is me anytime i try to tell a story. ”i just get excited and stuff.”

my one character exception is the guy played by bobby cannavale, because i just had no use for him, lol. in fact, i didn’t even realize it was him! i kept thinking bobby cannavale’s character looked kind of like bobby cannavale, but not actually like him, through most of the movie--until i was looking something else up and saw his name in the cast. scott’s daughter was great for lots of reasons but her total unimpressedness with bobby cannavale delighted me because i felt the same way.

i thought they handled making scott and hope romantic very well. the actors have good chemistry so i was rooting for them, but the push/pull between antagonistic and flirty is difficult to do successfully, and they could only move things along so much from her open resentment towards him in the beginning to them being a team by the end. this was too lighthearted a movie to spend much time on Them, so just nodding to it and then making jokes and moving along felt right.

also i loved that anthony mackie was in this. i’m really not familiar with his character, i saw age of ultron but barely remember it, and i double checked--i’ve never seen any other mcu movie sam is in. BUT i do know the actor, from the hate u give and elsewhere and he’s excellent. so he was a cool choice of character to include and it gave me a nice way to see a little more sam.

the end bits were neat, too. i really love that in hope, they created a genuinely strong female character--not always nice, in fact sometimes an asshole...aka a real person just like male characters are allowed to be. so it felt earned when she realized her father was finally going to work with her at the end.

and while i find it annoying, as a mostly non-viewer of mcu movies, to have bits with totally other characters and worlds shoved in after the film is over to weave the worlds together and try and make you care about it all...i adore anytime a movie is like ‘X will return’ because when i enjoyed the movie, it’s like a little concluding gift to promise me more--i was really happy when shang chi did the same.

in the end, my biggest takeaway from this movie is that it is a rare crowd-pleaser. this is one of those movies that, when you’ve managed to avoid watching it for eight years and everybody is eager to tell you how great it is, you can feel a little suspicious of the hype. but it IS that good! as soon as i saw it, i showed it to the one person i knew who hadn’t already seen it, and despite her doubts going in, she also loved it.

so i can recommend this one to almost anybody, and i wish more movies like this still got made, that are lovable for broad audiences. (i get that marvel movies in general make obscene amounts of money, but i certainly don’t care about most of them, so that’s not what i mean. i want more action movies that make an effort to appeal to people besides action fans. clearly it’s possible!)

if you have a serious aversion to ants, i would probably advise you to steer clear. but if you like thievery or dads and daughters or michael douglas or a brisk romp with science, this is a really great movie.

Ya’know the moment I found out that Will Arnett is gonna be voicing Sweet Tooth (Needles Kane) in the live action Twisted Metal show, I instantly had the thought “God, can people that I know stop being in things”, like I’m getting tired of something coming out that’s based on an existing property, and the studio doesn’t think it’ll draw enough people based on the name alone, so they put recognizable names all over it. I want to see someone new, because using people with a recognizable face or voice kinda ruins the immersion cause you’re just like “Oh that the Rock” instead of seeing them as their characters. The MCU used to do it because before Thor no one had heard of Chris Hemsworth or Tom Hiddleston, and that was great because you would watch it and only see them as their characters instead of the actors playing the characters.

I’ll give Anthony Mackie a pass because outside of marvel, he’s not really a hot name everyone wants to take on to their projects.

Also if they’re going to do a Darth Vader and have a body actor and a voice actor, why not get an actual voice actor?

Yes, James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes aka Winter Soldier / White Wolf and Samuel "Sam" Wilson aka Falcon / Captain America are meant to be together. Bother are hot, kind, funny, brave, strong, generous...

They are the reason why I watched the Disney+ series FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER even though some moments were not very well written (especially Falcon, who still became an interesting character there).

When I see pics of them I don't know if I want to be their slave or see them happy in love! Look at the first picture, you can see their asses that are so delicious and that I dream to eat because they deserves asslickers. And in the second picture I want to kneel on the ground, lick their shoes, massage their feet...

What is the most important to remember with this couple is that Sam and Bucky complete each other. They both have differents background and personality. I will not talk again about why I disagree with Mister Anthony Mackie who thinks that fans shouldn't consider Sam and Bucky in love.

I am a gay whiteboy, I love black men (white men too, of course, but I just have this raceplay fantasy and also this love for the interracial contrast) so of course I am attracted to Sam Wilson being in love with Steve Rogers or Bucky Barnes. I am also attracted to being their boyfriends individually, and I love their comics version too (to be honest I became attracted to Sam Wilson thanks to his comics counterpart).

I love these two characters and the actors who play them. Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan are both sexy and funny and have great chemistry, they're good friends and they're aware that fans ship them off as a couple.

Even though Anthony Mackie said that Sam Wilson wasn't supposed to be in a relationship with Bucky Barnes, we fans and authors are allowed to write about it. He cannot prevent us from imagining them as a couple.

I never said I wouldn't watch the CAPTAIN AMERICA 4 and THUNDERBOLT movies just because Sam and Bucky aren't a couple. I accept that they can't be lovers in the MCU. But that's what fanfics are there for: to dream up and create alternate universes where it would have happened. 😉 And they are so cute together!

These two actors are hot, funny, nice, are very good friends in real life (you can easily find many compilations of their funny moments together on YouTube).

Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie would be a great couple if they were together . Honestly, it wouldn't shock me if they were in love. Who knows their lovers 🙄?

The film of the day is Synchronic 2019 as it’s set in the sort of same universe as The Endless and it’s Anthony Mackie who is an incredible actor, don’t let his MCU appearances fool you. I’m not sure I can see him hurting in another piece of media for a long while after this and Altered Carbon S2. Phew.

Ok so a lot of the IMDB reviews complain about the film not being sci-fi horror enough and being too slow, too heavy on the drama and, again like for The Endless, they’re so wrong.

Character driven horror is a rarity and I cherish every story that puts in the effort to get us invested in the people before kicking off the “action”. I wish more stories would endeavour to make us care first instead of just exploring the cool concept and answering all the plot holes nitpicky folks are going to find not to mention the current obsession with outguessing the audiences expectations wrt to twists. Movies are stories not puzzles, I enjoy both but stories like this in the sci fi or horror genre shouldn't be so exceptional. It's grounding and makes it so much more real.

I’m going to start with a rant: all time travel is space travel, by the time i’ve finished typing this we’ll have moved thousands of miles through space. You have to be magically tethered in some way to some spot on this fast travelling rotating rock or you would end up in the vacuum of space. All time travel stories require suspension of disbelief in logic as you know it and belief in concepts like quantum entanglement and objects & places being imbued with tethering properties... So wading through reviews is like watching folks fight over how magic healing crystals work. I love sci-fi but man alive, it attracts a certain demographic that is very annoying.

Steve’s a paramedic in New Orleans, he works with his best friend, they’re starting to see some weird cases linked to a new designer drug, he finds out he has a GBM which is usually when I tap out of a movie and go cry my eyes out because fuck that cancer in particular [ ... ] He starts radiotherapy to increase his time then the friend’s daughter disappears after taking some of this drug. That’s when time travel comes in and we find out Steve loves physics and is definitely down to experiment in his time left.

This is where he gets to shine, the voice-over for his adventures is glib, relatable, smart and very funny.

He’s a black dude time travelling in New Orleans so he meets white dudes with guns who don’t like black folks three times which is wild and 1/ kind of iffy for white writers to be putting him through, 2/ New Orleans has an interesting history of being more permissive about black people than elsewhere in the USA, he didn’t have to have a bad time all the time.

While we get to know him well, there’s clearly some underlying serious PTSD here that’s going unexplored, the man is self-medicating and half numb.

The end is left ambiguous but the writers throwing in a line about the radiotherapy going surprisingly well was not fair, it turns him into a saviour instead of a man choosing between two types of death. He deserved more time: more screen time, more time not being a hero, I needed the tree outside his house to be engraved with “I found the one”. He did some magic time travel and had a magic brain - I need him to be his own great great granddad.

7/10 - needed a black writer in the room & more time spent on Steve. Very compelling sci-fi. I love the small interpersonal scale of these stories far more than earth-shattering events or galactic wars and plan to visit more of the Moorhead and Benson work. The cinematography was gorgeous and unsettling. It would have been terrific with better music: something edgier or tied to Steve himself (think the Piaf piece that gets slowed down in Inception - haven’t seen that yet either btw)

robert pattinson - i like him too, haven't seen many of his movie, loved him in tenet, was a big fan of edward when i was 12, i love how weird he is, also we share a birthday so yay for that

anthony mackie - love him, he's a great actor, he doens't make movies that are particularly to my taste but i like what i've seen, should have at least one oscar and two globes. criminally underrated, but i will never forgive him for making me watch that holiday movie he did with seth rogan.

sebastian stan - he's an okay actor, makes terrible movies, i think bucky is his best role tho, i think he likes doing those artsy movies with a24 and be taken more seriously outside of playing bucky, but idk, those movies are just not for me. he was great in pam and tommy tho

And of course they wouldn't want Tom appearing in Civil War, Infinity War and Endgame since so many popular actors appeared there. I still remember that Seattle Comic Con where a few Tom stans were extremely disrespectful to Anthony Mackie and Seb Stan in front of Tom (and to his embarrassment). Based on anon's reasoning, no actor should work with Tom because he has a few disrespectful stans

That doesn't make any sense at all lol. And I doubt Tom would turn down a GREAT movie script with a great director, and an awesome cast just because some of his co-stars might have "disrespectful fans". And likewise, I'm sure most actors aren't gonna be like: "Oh gosh, I'm never gonna work with Tom Holland, cuz his fans might treat me like crap if I'm ever cast with him in a movie role". That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to me lol. 😅

Netflix Watch: We Have a Ghost (2023)

Well, I was looking for something else on Netflix and saw the #1 streaming movie was something I'd never heard of but it starred Captain America, Jennifer Coolidge and Jim Hopper. And I generally liked the premise of people catching evidence of a ghost and what that might actually mean in 2023.

We Have a Ghost (2023) feels, however, like a few movies that were shuffled together from different results from different writers all given the same prompt and characters but no guidance for what genre this movie was, who it was for, and especially no plot outline. The result is a strange mish-mash of a film that wants to be funny, touching, exciting, a road movie, a haunted house movie, a teen romance, a wacky buddy comedy, a sci-fi flick... and a touching story about family, father-child relations and probably ten more things. I thought it was a kid's movie til about halfway through, and then was like... well, no.

That said, it's weirdly watchable. It may not be great, or even particularly good, mainly because it bounces so fast from idea to idea that nothing ever really sticks - but it does have some crazy talent in the movie and so you get to see how that can prop up a very shaky film. David Harbour never even really talks, and still gives a genuinely moving performance. Anthony Mackie reminds you why he gets cast in so much stuff as a guy hitting middle-age who thinks maybe he finally struck oil, Jennifer Coolidge is Jennifer Coolidge (if she were a TV ghost-psychic). Tig Notaro plays the scientist - who seems to have a backstory they left on the cutting room floor - who is mixed up in ghost-chasing, the government G-Men and everything else.

Our lead is young actor Jahi Di'allo Winston who is very good. But, man, the movie sure takes its time making it clear you should like his character.

I don't want to dwell on it too much. It had a lot of issues. But I also felt like it got weirdly violent for a minute or two, and it didn't really know a movie can say something, not just be a series of events that unspool. There's no subtext - this movie is all text.

The most promising bit is immediately after the evidence of the ghost hits the internet, and watching as humanity - filtered through the modern internet - doesn't know if the ghost is real-real or not, and make him into something meme-able and for discourse. But then it spins off into something about government overreach, lasers, and a tragic story I don't know anyone was sitting around hoping for based on the premise.

I also was just like - did Anthony Mackie really get taken out by a very old man with a pan? Like... no one saw that and said "this isn't working." They just let it be a thing that happened in a movie we all watched.
