'nother desmon drabble. this was gonna be one part but i think i'm gonna make it at least a two-parter no warnings, aside from desmond's foul mouth
“How much longer are they gonna have me under surveillance?” Desmond said, stopping in the doorway to lean against the frame.
“What- w- ow-” a screwdriver and a few smaller pieces fell to the floor as Tony smacked the back of his head off the edge of his work table. He cursed quietly before standing, hand rubbing circles into the back of his head, “Who’s got who under surveillance?”
Desmond rolled his eyes, “You know what I’m talking about, jesus christ-”
“No taking the lord’s name in vain,” Tony interrupted with a barely-contained snicker.
The dramatic, frustrated sigh Desmond let out could have earned him awards, had there been awards for “acting like a teenager in your late 20’s”.
“Shield, dad,” he said, closing his eyes and taking intentional, slow breaths, “The absolutely fuckin massive military intelligence….branch…..thing.”
He deflated when he finally opened his eyes to see Tony stifling laughter, hand clamped over his mouth. He could tell Tony wanted to keep poking at him, and when the man in front of him tried speaking, moving his hand from his mouth,he had to clamp it back down as a fresh wave of laughter bubbled up. Desmond grimaced.
“W-wai- I’m sor-” Tony cut himself off but failed to stop a bark of laughter. He cleared his throat and tried again, “You were right, Des. That’s what they are - ‘the absolutely fuckin’ massive military intelligence branch thing’”
“You know what I mean,” Des grumbled with a roll of his eyes, “How much longer are they going to be stalking me?”
Turning to grab some things from his work table, Tony let out a long breath, beginning to idly clean something with a rag, “Few more months I think.”
“Months?!” Desmond near-shouted, “Why?”
“Why?” Tony paused cleaning whatever he was holding, “Desmond, you were brainwashed. By the scepter.”
Desmond, frustrated, refused to respond. That made Tony nervous, “You….do remember being  brainwashed by the scept-”
“Yes I remember being brainwashed by the scepter,” he said with a slight whine, dragging a hand through freshly-dyed hair. Before he could speak again, Tony cut him off.
“Well. That’s why you’re still under surveillance,” he looked at Des while gesturing to his own head, “You’ve got scrambled eggs for brains now or something. I don’t know, they never tell me anything - and why do you care so much? You never leave the compound so nothing should really have changed for you.”
“Thanks for confirming I’m being stalked.”
“Surveilled.”
“Whatever, oh my god.”
Tony paused a moment, simply watching Desmond, before taking a breath, “All right, spit it out, kid. Who’s got you so antsy for freedom?”
“W-” Desmond sputtered, face screwing up in confusion, “The fuck makes you say who?”
“That!” Tony gestured towards Desmond with a wrench, continuing through laughter, “That look on your face! You’re so mad!”
“Gee, I wonder why,” Desmond rolled his eyes, turning to leave. If Tony was going to just sit here and make fun of him, then he’d go find help somewhere else, “Whatever, nevermind, I’ll go ask Buzz…”
There wasn’t a doubt in Tony’s mind that no matter what the request was, Buzz would be able to find a way to complete it. The last time Desmond asked Buzz for help tracking down a copy of a rare video game, Buzz had found and somehow gotten his hands on it within a week and a half. Which would have been all well and good if they hadn’t also created, sold, and then ran away with the money from some absurd crypto currency in order to pay for it. Ok, it was pretty funny. Buzz put so little effort into the currency, it was honestly kind of their fault for falling for it. Unfortunately, S.H.I.E.L.D. caught wind of it and saddled Tony with a mountain of paperwork. ‘Still better than the time he had them find Wade. Yeah, let’s not do that again…’
“Wait no - Des!” he shouted, a bit louder than intended, making Desmond jump slightly. Tony ran his hand down his face before continuing, “I’ll do it - what did you need?

I am in search of a beta reader!
I’ve been working on editing a long-standing (and still going tbh) RP thread between a friend and I into a chaptered fic. I want another set of eyes on it that isn’t one of us who wrote it, or my best friend who I forced to read it once upon a time and knows the plot 😅😅
I am still working on fixing some plot holes and making certain things flow better and whatnot, but I wanted to start trying to find someone who’d be interested in helping out ❤️ that and I finally want to take the step to get this closer to actually posting for people to read, and I think if I have another person in the mix it’ll actually push me to work on these chapters more and get over the hump lol
the pairing is Loki (written by the lovely Shelby over at @trckstrgod ) x my female OC Tara ( @weremagitara ) if that helps 😉

Loki was staring up at the ceiling. His eyes not really holding any emotion besides sadness and perhaps regret. He hates feelings. They bothered him and he had no idea on how to deal with them. They were a nuisance. Odin had forbidden him to do anything. Yet everyone was surprised that he obliged. It was no secret that he was dealing with something and he hated it. He hated that everyone knew. Ironic isn’t it? He’s usually always in other’s business. Yet when it comes to himself he dispises it. He turned and looked at the mirror. His eyes staring directly into his. He hated it. He looked pathetic. He hated looking at the effect this all had on him.
He took a deep breath and sighed before he left his chambers. On his way out he bumped into Sif and Idunn. Loki could already feel their displeased aura. Sif looked at him with masked anger. She was one off the goddesses his wife was close with. He clenched jaw and avoided Sif who scoffed at him. Her gold hair flaring up. He remembered how Sif got her golden hair. He played a prank on her and had to pay the price. He laughed a little. The relaisstation hit him like a ton of bricks. This was just like any other prank he played, he now had to pay the price. But now it was different, because no matter the prank, no matter how bad he fucked up, she would be there for him. But she isn’t here….and its all his fault. Loki felt his eyes sting and swallowed before he excused himself. He still smiled as ever, yet his eyebrows and eyes gave away what he was feeling. Eyes are the mirror of one’s soul after all. He walked past both Sif and Idunn. He hadn’t looked at Idunn once, but already knew she only felt pity for him as if he was a pathetic child.
He walked endlessly in the castle. Why? He couldn’t answer that question either. Perhaps he was unintentionally searching for something. Something that reminded him of her. That’s why he even got up today. For her. He’d do it all just for her. He was too deep in thought to know that he stopped in front of the room he once kept a secret in. His eyes lingering on the handle before you could hear a soft clink of the handle being pushed. He stepped inside the room and scanned it. His eyes falling on the porcelain doll. It looked dusty, as if no one took care of it. Loki closed the door and walked towards the doll. With every step he took he felt his anger flare up. He hated that thing now. He scowled and grabbed the doll by the shoulder before forcefully slamming it to the ground, shattering it in the process. He took a few deep breaths to calm himself before his eyes noticed the wedding dress. It was plain and simple. Why? Was it plain and simple? A wedding dress is usually lavish and stylish right? So why that dress?… that’s because his wife wore a similar wedding dress. Loki picked up the wedding dress and dusted it off and neatly folded it. The dress was a reminder of his wife, how could he not neatly take care of it? He placed the dress on the bed in the room.
He took a step away from the bed and accidentally broke a another piece of the doll. He scoffed and stepped on the doll’e face, breaking it into even more pieces. The whole idea of that thing looking like Brunhilde made him sick. Why did he ever like her in the first place? Why? Brunhilde already had Siegfried, and he had his dear wife. He scoffed. He hated all of this. He wants to take it back. To make it seem as if it’s all a joke. But it wouldn’t help. He clenched his teeth, his body shaking. He himself wasn’t even sure if it wad rage or sadness. He closed his eyes, some tears falling in the process. He quickly put a hand over his mouth to suppress the sobs. He hated this. This wasn’t like him. Loki doesn’t cry. He doesn’t feel anything other than mischief and sadism. He hates humans. So why was he here in crying like one? He was a sobbing mess. He didn’t mean for all this to happen. He never wanted to hurt you. Why did he ever even like Brunhilde?…that’s right, it was because it reminded him of his wife of when she was a Valkyrie before she descended to a goddess. He didn’t love Brunhilde. He just loves what he saw in her, and what he saw was his wife.
Loki started sobbing even harder and buried his face into his hands quietly mumbled something for no one to hear. ‘Please..:i’m so sorry, i’ll do everything to make it right…I’ll cry and beg if thats what you want…. I know i’m a fool who took you for granted….please…I’ll do it all of you ask me too…i’m sorry….i’m so…so sorry….’ He sobbed some more before he took another deep breath to calm the crying. His eyes landed on a painting. A painting of his wife. It was a vivid and beautiful painting. A deep pain came over him as her he remembered that day, the day they had gotten married. He stared at the painting, but soon saw something he didn’t like. In the painting Loki was laying in her lap while he looked up at her, however her head was turned to the side a bit and so were her eyes. ‘Where are you looking at?’ Loki asked her in the painting as if she could respond. His eyes still burning from the tears. It annoyed him that she wasn’t looking at him. He walked closer to the painting ‘Don’t look away. Look at me.’ He said to the painting as if he was having a full conversation, yet there was no response. Loki fell to his knees in front of the painting and said in between sobs ‘please…I miss you…I want to see you…I hope you come back…Sigyn’

How do yanderes react to the reader ask them to marry you?
(Male Yandere OCs x Gender Neutral Reader)
•Henry - He chuckles and gives you a soft smile. Henry thinks marriage isn't really necessary because he already sees you as his. But at least he will design the perfect wedding dress/suit for you. "Oh, doll, you're already mine. But if it makes you happy, then I will marry you."
•Miru - His eye lights up and he shakes a little with excitement. He wants to make this marriage special. Hell, Miru would even make the whole entire wedding setting himself if he has to. "D-do you really mean it, y/n...? Can I really be yours forever?!"
•Micheal - He laughs loudly. Not only does marriage seem ridiculous to him, but he doesn't "love" you that much enough to marry you anyway. After all, he just sees you as a good, little pet for him to keep. "Feeling special today, are you, pet? How cute..."
•Aaron - You'll probably get confused because he looks at you in horror. He grabs you by the shoulders and shakes you back and forth. "Huh?! I thought we were already married!"
•Loki - He stops and stares at you to see if you're joking. Once he figures out that you're serious, he blinks. "We don't need to be married to be together. All I have to do is scent you and you'll be mine. Simple as that."
•Samuel - He gives you a sad smile. Samuel was married before, but he doesn't want this marriage to end up (bad) like the last one. "Oh, are you sure, sweetheart? I don't want it to be too much for you..."
•Ryan - He looks at you in surprise. He looks you over to make sure you're not pulling any pranks on him. When you reassure him that you're serious, tears form in his eyes and he frowns. "Do you really want to spend the rest of your life on me? Don't you think I'm a bother? A burden to you? Am I even good enough for you, y/n...?"
Tyler - He jumps back in surprise. He never thought he would even be in a relationship, but marriage is a whole another level for him. He's not sure if he could handle it. "What?! A-are you sure, y/n? I really, really don't think you could last a day with me, honestly!"

“We need aerial pickup in the woods outside the generator, my coordinates. Get medical ready, tell them we have an incoming Avenger.”
Her eyes flicked up to Bucky at the last word, surprise lighting them up. His face was a standard mask of annoyance mixed with…was that relief? Blue eyes trailed over her body before meeting hers once again. He regarded her for a moment before speaking again.
“So when were you gonna tell me you learned to fly a Quinjet?”
Typical. He does something heroic and chivalrous, but still has the same attitude problem. Some knight in shining armor. “I was waiting t’see if y’brought me a souvenir,” She croaked through her raw, burning throat.
As the smoke from the explosion began to clear, Charlotte's ears were still ringing from the deafening blast. She blinked, trying to regain her bearings as she looked around to assess the damage. Tears streaked through the dirt on her cheeks as her eyes burned, her whole body buzzing at how close she’d come to the end. She’d tried to stand a few moments ago, but nearly vomited at the pain in her ribs. Now seated against the base of a tree, she could feel the pain beginning to cloud her mind as the adrenaline wore off.
"Charlotte, hey, stay with me," Bucky's voice cut through the haze of confusion, filled with concern as he knelt in front of her. “Medical is almost here.”
Groaning, she sat up a little straighter. “Th’shouldn’t come outside the shield,” she paused to cough. “S’too smokey and there could be another detonation. We need t’move.”
Bucky regarded her grimly, eyebrows raised, but didn’t argue. “Okay. C’mon.” He helped Charlotte to her feet, his arm wrapped around her waist, steadying her as she stumbled slightly. She favored her left leg, still peppered with glass from the windshield, putting her arm over his shoulders for stability.
"That was quite the entrance," Charlotte groaned, her voice shaky as she leaned into Bucky's firm grip. “B’you could have stuck the landing a little better."
Bucky offered her a small smile that didn’t meet his eyes, shouldering the majority of her weight as they began to traipse through the shrapnel-littered woods. The pain must be bad if she was cracking jokes, begging for a distraction.
“Y’could have shown up a little sooner, too.” She forced out between shallow breaths.
“We stopped for burgers halfway,” He humored her. “You seemed like you had it handled.” He didn’t mention the way they’d been white-knuckled the whole flight back, nearly silent as they prayed they’d make it in time. The way he’d paced the floor, ready to rip the enemy aircraft apart with his bare hands when he finally got to it. The way he heard those words and was ready to throw himself out of the Quinjet just to get to her. She’s not gonna make it.
“D’you bring me one?” Her weight was getting heavier on his shoulder.
“Yeah. Yeah, we did.” Bucky hoisted her arm higher around his neck, taking more weight off of her leg. “Hope you like mustard.”
As they finally approached the edge of the shield, they were greeted by the sight of a medical cart waiting to transport them back to the safety of the compound. The first rays of dawn were beginning to lighten up the inky sky, breaking up the darkness. When they reached the cart, Charlotte eased herself into the flatbed of the cart with Bucky's assistance, taking a slow breath as she leaned against the edge. Hopping in behind her, Bucky patted the hull of the cart, signaling that they were ready to go.
The journey back to the main building was quiet, the only sound was the hum of the cart's engine and Charlotte’s occasional sharp breaths when they hit a particularly large bump. Bucky didn’t speak, but his eyes clocked every wince, every muscle tensing in her jaw. He glanced up ahead, seeing the compound buildings beginning to come into view.
As Charlotte sat in the medical cart, her mind was a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. Her eyes were squeezed tightly shut as the adrenaline that had fueled her during the attack was nearly gone, leaving her feeling drained and emotionally raw.vShe couldn't shake the feeling of disbelief at the suddenness of the attack, the way it had shattered the peace and security of the compound in an instant. It was a stark reminder of the ever-present threat posed by HYDRA, lurking in the shadows, waiting to strike when least expected. She’d allowed herself to get comfortable, to live in the delusion that there was a life after them. That they’d one day stop looking for her and let her go free.
That delusion had brought one of the world’s most dangerous organization to the doorstep of the only people who had offered her a home. A family.
The thought of losing any of them was almost too much to bear, a prospect she couldn't even begin to contemplate. To think that it might have been her fault, her presence that lured them here…she couldn’t even let herself finish the thought.
Rounding the final corner and emerging from the treeline, the hangar and main building grew nearer. With them, the crowd of people gathered in front, clapping and cheering. The sound made Charlotte open her eyes. Standing outside the SHIELD headquarters were the two dozen agents who’d been there through the attack, had been under her assumed command. At the front of the crowd stood Calla, clapping furiously with tears in her eyes. Beside her, still in full battle gear, was Sam, Steve, Nat, Wanda, and Peter. All of them looking beautifully clean and unscathed. All of them cheering. Charlotte felt a wave of relief wash over her, finally accepting that it was over. The cart jolted to a stop, whistles and applause filling her ears. There was a knot in her stomach that she wasn’t ready to address yet, a maelstrom of emotions clawing through her, demanding to be felt. Instead, she focused on the physical feelings. People patting her shoulder, squeezing her hands, sliding under her knees and lifting her out of the cart.
Opening her eyes, Charlotte saw dozens of faces beaming at her. Calla was holding one of her hands, the other was draped around the shoulder of whoever was carrying her. The feeling of vibranium under her knees told her all she needed to know. As Bucky walked through the crowd, they eagerly parted to let her through, the cheers never ceasing. The doors to the medical wing slid open with a whoosh, cool air conditioning wafting over them in contrast to the spring humidity.
In the distance, she could hear Natasha’s voice telling the agents to give her some space, before Steve thanked them for their bravery and asked them to give their statements to Intelligence before heading home for the end of their shift. There was a hallway, a turn, and then she was being gently set down on the all-too-familiar medical bed.
“From what I hear, we just need to put your name on the door,” Calla quipped, washing her hands in the corner.
Charlotte mustered a chuckle, but anything beyond that threatened to set her throat on fire.
“Okay, let’s get you cleaned up. What hurts the most?” Her eyes raked over Charlotte, fingers assessing each wound. Angling her leg, Charlotte nodded to the shards of glass protruding like spikes all down the side. Calla masked her concern like a true professional. “That seems like a good place to start.”
She pulled a stool beneath her and slid her hands into a pair of gloves as Maddie, the lab tech, wheeled in a tray of first aid supplies. “Sargeant, would you mind lending a hand?” Calla looked expectantly up at Bucky.
“Yeah, uh, sure.” He cleared his throat and stepped toward the bed.
“Grab those scissors in the top drawer,” She nodded her head to the counter behind Bucky, shining a small flashlight in Charlotte’s eyes. He obliged, crossing the room to stand beside the bed. “Thank you. I need you to cut the left leg out of Ms. Rossi’s suit.”
“You, wait, what?” Bucky looked incredulous.
“I can’t effectively clean and stitch her up with the suit on, and I can’t take it off while Ms. Rossi still has glass sticking out of her leg. If I pull the glass out before taking the suit off, she’ll lose even more blood.” Her tone was calm but firm as she continued to work, cleaning a wound on Charlotte’s forehead. “So in order to get her taken care of and out of pain as quickly as possible, I need you to take those scissors, cut up the center of her suit, and get me access to the wounds.”
He stood, frozen, beside her bed.
“Now, Sargent.”
With that, he sprung into action. Setting the scissors down at the foot of her bed, nimble fingers unlaced her boots, gently removing them and tossing them to the side. They landed on the floor with a solid thump. Cold metal touched her ankle as he lifted the hem of her suit away from her skin and slid one scissor blade beneath it. His brow was furrowed in concentration as he carefully but quickly cut a line up the top of her leg. As he worked, Maddie tugged the fabric over the glass on the side, freeing the wounds. Once the scissors had reached her thigh, Bucky stopped.
“Good,” Calla pointed. “Now bring the cut around the outside of her thigh so we can peel the fabric back all the way.”
Charlotte could have sworn he flushed, but he did what he was told. Calla pulled the flap of fabric to the side, revealing a mangled mess of her leg. Blood, old and new, caked her skin and dozens of large pieces of glass stuck out the side, running from her ankle nearly to her hip.
“Sargant, one more thing. Could you hand me that towel?” Calla’s tone was warm and calm, smiling as Bucky dropped it into her hand. Offering it to Charlotte, she gave a clear instruction. “Bite down.”
Bringing the towel to her mouth, Charlotte didn’t have time to question before Maddie dumped a copious amount of antiseptic onto her leg, setting her whole body on fire. She bit into the towel so hard her jaw ached, a muffled scream filling the room and setting her throat ablaze. Out of the corner of her watery eyes, she swore she saw Bucky wince. The wave of pain caused sweat to bead across her forehead, her leg throbbing. They made every effort to work quickly, but that did little to quell the agony.
Forcing herself to breathe through her nose, Charlotte clenched her eyes shut, telling herself all the same things she had in the past. Breathe in. Breathe out. Breathe in. Breathe out. It’ll be over in a minute. Pain is just my body telling me something is wrong, and I already know something is wrong. I don’t need the pain. I don’t feel the pain. I don’t feel th-
“Oh, shit,” Sam’s voice called from the doorway, pulling Calla’s eyes up to his for just a split second as she dropped a particularly large shard of glass onto the tray beside her. Steve and Nat pushed into the room, taking in the scene. Charlotte on the bed, eyes closed and sweat dripping as she bit down onto a towel. Calla and Maddie furiously working on her gruesome left leg, one set of hands carefully extracting shrapnel while the other cleaned and stitched the wounds left behind. Bucky standing beside the bed, hands behind his head and a grim look on his face. His helpless eyes met Steve’s and a look passed between them. Guilt? Understanding? Their unspoken conversation was interrupted by Natasha slid a chair bedside, gripping Charlotte’s right hand as her eyes flicked open. They were red from all the smoke, but alert.
“Hell of a showing back there,” Nat gave a reassuring grin, squeezing her hand. Charlotte groaned, rolling her eyes.
“If I didn’t know better, I’d say you might be born for this ‘saving the world’ gig after all.”
Charlotte shot her a sidelong look, narrowing her eyes. Raising her hands defensively, Nat joked, “Listen, all I’m saying is it took Sam years to learn to fly a Quinjet and Bucky still refuses to use comms correctly. You’ve got ‘em both beat.”
“Hey,” Bucky frowned at her.
“Am I wrong?”
Nat’s attempts to distract everyone from the tense situation were effective. Calla and Maddie had worked their way up Charlotte’s leg, staunching the bleeding and leaving a web of dark stitching and angry red cuts in their wake. As Maddie tied off the final stitch, Calla tugged her gloves off with a snap. “Alright, looks like we salvaged the leg.” She winked at Charlotte. “Let’s take a look at those ribs.”
Attempting to prop herself up on her elbows, Charlotte winced, eyes squeezing shut. Several pairs of hands reached out to support her, Nat being the first to reach her thanks to her proximity.
“Woah, take it easy,” Calla braced her other arm. “Gentlemen, give us a minute?” She nodded to the door, with Steve, Sam, and Bucky filing out obediently. When the door was shut behind them, she returned her gaze to Charlotte. “Is it alright if we go ahead and remove the suit? We’ll put a medical gown on you, I know how much you love those.”
Charlotte scoffed but held her arms out long, granting them permission to tug the sleeves off. With the three sets of gentle female hands and a few more slices from the scissors, her suit lay in a stained and crumbled heap on the floor. For the next fifteen minutes, they set to work cleaning her various cuts and abrasions while Nat held her hand. Charlotte closed her eyes and leaned her head against the pillow, the exhaustion catching up with her. She had a difficult time processing all that had happened in the span of a week. The team leaving for their mission, her outburst with the agents, meeting Calla and finding out the bombshell about her relationship with Sam, learning to fly a Quinjet, the attack in the dead of night, almost being blown up, being rescued by Bucky…again, the heroes reception she’d received when they returned. It was too much for her muddled brain to process at the moment.
“Alright, Char, you’re as good as new. Or at least you will be in a few days.” Calla squeezed her arm. “Thanks, Maddie, you’re good to go back home. Thanks for coming in on such short notice. Take the rest of the day off. Oh, and tell the guys they’re good to come back in.”
“Thanks, Maddie.” Charlotte’s strained voice called after her.
“No problem.” Maddie smiled. “I hope I don’t see you again anytime soon.”
Laughing into a cough, Charlotte adjusted her position against the pillow, the white medical gown just as unflattering as always. Chairs squeaked across the floor as all three men rejoined them and took a position around the bed, looking at her expectantly.
“Good morning,” She raised an eyebrow.
“Good morning.” Steve chucked. “How do you feel?”
“How do I look?”
“Like you just about got blown up,” Sam teased.
“Yeah, not the best way to get blown.” She yawned, ignoring Steve’s choked laugh and Bucky’s raised eyebrow. “But you should see the other guy.”
“I don’t think there’s much left to see.” Nat chimed in.
“Guess that means I did my job.”
“You did great, Charlotte.” Steve’s tone was warm, reassuring. The atmosphere thickened as smiles faded in favor of a more serious tone. “If you hadn’t been here, hadn’t acted when you did…things would have turned out much differently. Thank you.”
“Yeah, I’ve grown pretty fond of this place.” Natasha squeezed her hand. “Thank you for protecting it.”
“This place,” Sam stood and crossed the room to stand by Calla, still typing notes into her computer. “And the people inside it. I owe you one.”
Charlotte smiled. “No, you don’t. I’m pretty fond of it too. The place and the people.” She winked at Calla.
“Sam, something you’d like to tell us?” Steve raised an eyebrow at Sam’s arm draped around Calla’s shoulders.
Chuckling, he met Calla’s eyes. “Guys, this is Dr. Calla Arturo. My fiance.”
Bucky let out a whistle as Steve grinned and stood to hug Sam. Nat simply picked at her nails, winking at the couple, another secret well kept.
“I’m sorry, we have a lot to catch up on, it sounds like. Can someone order breakfast? With coffee?” Charlotte pleaded. “Lots of coffee?”
“Coming right up.” Nat popped up and strode out of the room to make the order.
Half an hour later, feet still clad in combat boots were propped on the edge of Charlotte’s bed, the smell of coffee filling the air. A cart sat full of discarded, empty dishes near the door.  The food was all but devoured the minute it was wheeled into the room. Now that everyone had given up on going back to sleep as the morning stretched on, Calla made a round, refilling everyone’s coffee before taking a seat beside Sam.
“So we get to the source of the tremors, and we find nothing. Nada. Zip. It’s a complete ghost town,” Sam explained. “At first, we thought maybe they took everything underground, or it was cloaked somehow. We ran every scan possible, combed through the whole one hundred mile radius. We found nothing. So we camped out overnight, figured we’d do the same thing the next day.”
“We reviewed the initial reports of seismic activity, and sure enough, we were at the exact coordinates.” Nat shrugged. “It seemed like a fluke, somehow the coordinates got skewed. We were positive we missed something, kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, and then…”
“We got the distress signal from SHIELD.” Bucky met Charlotte’s eyes. “The signal that the compound was under attack.”
“That was when we knew it was a decoy.” Steve’s eyes looked pained. “We knew it was an attempt to lure us away, leave it vulnerable. The furthest point away without going off-planet. We were just lucky it wasn’t a trap.”
“So we got the hell out of dodge and came back here.” Nat’s gaze was unfocused, remembering. “We flew back as quickly as we could, we were on the live comm feed with the command center. We heard everything that was going on.”
Charlotte’s blood chilled. They’d listened to everything. Had she sounded like a complete rookie? Her adrenaline had been pumping so strongly, she couldn’t conjure more than a hazy recollection of what she said.
“We didn’t think we would make it in time.” Steve was somber. “We heard you go back, try to extract the information. When they kept counting down and you still hadn’t gotten out…we were still flying over the woods outside the shield. It wouldn’t have been possible for us to get the jet to the landing pad and get out to you, and there was nowhere to land it with all the trees around you.” He glanced at Bucky, who’d set his jaw defiantly. “As you know, Bucky decided to take matters into his own hands.”
Charlotte raised her eyebrows at Bucky, waiting for him to chip in.
“If I would have known saving you would be this demanding of a job, I would have asked for a raise.” His dry tone was nothing new, but for some reason it struck her wrong.
“I don’t remember calling for your help, Sergeant.”
“I think the words you’re looking for are ‘thank you’.”
“Gee, thanks, should I replace our next training session with an hour of groveling and falling at your feet? That seems to be the reaction you’re looking for.”
“As tempting as that sounds, I think you’ve done enough falling for a while.” He nodded his head at the wrapped, gauzy mess that was her left leg. Charlotte’s hands curled into fists, gripping her coffee mug so tight the ceramic creaked.
“Anyways,” Natasha cut in pointedly. “We made a note to keep parachutes in every Quinjet from now on, but thankfully, Cap’s shield did the trick this time. We don’t want to lose anyone. We’re a team. A family.” The last word seemed to be directed straight at Bucky, her eyes staring daggers at him, a warning not to be so…Bucky.
“And now you’re caught up.” Sam joined. “Now tell us what we missed, because clearly it was quite a bit.”
Calla raised her eyebrows at Charlotte, grinning. They exchanged a look, debating who should launch into the story first. It was Calla who took over, unable to keep her excitement at bay. She told them about her quiet morning after Sam and the rest of the group left, how she’d gone to get coffee and found Charlotte about to choke out one of the agents. A collective groan came from the group when she told them which one. His ego didn’t exactly fly under the radar in their training sessions, either. She told them about Charlotte’s flying lessons, missing surprisingly few details, and their dinner at her apartment, then the ultimate interruption of the attack.
Calla nodded in agreement, her expression grave as she recalled the moment they had felt the first explosion rock the city. "Charlotte didn't hesitate for a second," she said, her voice tinged with admiration. "It’s like she just…locked in. She took off running before I could even process what was happening, started giving orders the whole way. She’s a natural” Calla gave Charlotte a watery smile. “She made sure everyone had explicit instructions to keep the shields up even if she went down. She flew out not knowing what she’d see or if she’d come back. Everyone is right to call her a hero."
Charlotte winced slightly at the word. It felt unfamiliar, foreign. It wasn’t a good fit. Not when she felt like she’d barely escaped with her life. If it hadn’t been for Bucky, she wouldn’t have. Prick as he might be, he was right. He had saved her. Again.
Bucky remained silent for the most part, his gaze fixed on Charlotte as she and the others watched Calla recount the events. There was a fire in his eyes, a barely contained anger. Had Charlotte glanced over to see it, she might think it was directed at her. A result of her handling the situation poorly, or not acting as he would have. It was Steve, however, that looked over at him, seeing something else entirely. Bucky wasn’t a touchy-feely person, that much was blatantly apparent. That didn’t mean he didn’t feel at all. In fact, he felt more deeply than most people, the love for those he cared about able to blind him at times. As he sat and watched his friend watch the dark-haired girl on the medical bed, he just knew.
His friend was utterly blinded by what he was feeling.  Nat raised her mug. “To Charlotte Rossi, Mockingbird, Avenger of the Avengers.” A chorus of agreement sounded around the room, mugs clinking in the air.
“To Charlotte.”

An Unexpected Plan
PAIRING: loki laufeyson x reader
POWERS: none
WC: 2.6
SUMMARY: As a S.H.I.E.L.D agent, it was safe to say that you had seen a lot of strange things in your day. Glowing cubes from space, aliens and planetary-scale Armageddons were considered just another day at the office. However, the opening of the multiverse means infinite possibilities, including some that you’d never expect.
WARNINGS: possibly ooc Loki? (this is my first time writing him.)
AUTHOR’S NOTE: So this is based off the post-credit scene in Ant Man: Quantumania for the sneak peek of the Loki series s2. I actually have s1 written on Wattpad with an OC (called Everybody Wants to Rule the World if you want to check it out!), but since Tumblr likes x reader more, I took out the oc. This was an idea I’ve had since I watched s1 so I finally just decided to write a one-shot of it. It may not be accurate to the rest of s2 once it’s released since I just made up some stuff around the 3-second clip that we got.
As a S.H.I.E.L.D agent, it was safe to say that you had seen a lot of strange things in your day. From glowing space cubes of unknown origin to aliens trying to take over New York, the realm of what you considered impossible had broadened over the years. Your considerably high rank as a field agent had allowed you to experience some of these things first hand, which was both a blessing and a curse. It was more so the latter now as you’d been tasked with keeping the notorious trickster God of mischief from living up to his name. Luckily, you were well-equipped for the job— and more than just in the weapons department; you had the uncanny ability to see through lies. (This proved to be exceptionally helpful in an organization whose secrets had secrets.)
However, it was only after more than a decade of service that you were finally thinking that maybe you had bitten off more than you could chew. The God of Mischief had certainly earned his title; in an unforeseen turn of events, he’d gotten his hands on the Tesseract a second time and, before he could whisk himself away to who-knew-where to wreak more havoc, you’d latched onto his arm at the last second to join him for the spin as well. (At least nobody could ever say that you weren’t dedicated to your work.) After that, things had taken a turn for the worse and you’d both been taken to a mysterious time agency and had narrowly escaped death. (Well, maybe death was still on the table— your inevitable end had just been postponed.)
Needless to say, you and Loki hadn’t started out as the best of friends. When you weren’t trying to kill each other (verbally, at least), you glared at one another in sulky silences. But, as they say, trauma draws people together. Somewhere along the line between the end of the world and multiple variations of yourselves, you’d become something akin to. . . acquaintances? Allies? Not necessarily friends, but bonded by enough strange events to have a tentative trust with each other. You were almost certain that Loki wanted more from your relationship, but you hadn’t really forgiven him for what he’d done in New York and besides— whoever heard of a mortal and a God getting a good ending?
Now, however, none of that really seemed to matter; being displaced from your timeline certainly held a bigger threat than whatever was going on between the two of you. After your world-shattering revelation that the statue in the TVA’s library was no longer of three space lizards, but Kang himself you scrambled for answers and solutions. In a desperate attempt to understand the new situation you were in, you’d gotten the new-Mobius’ help of locating (a) Kang in this present timeline, which happened to be in the Victorian Era.
Although the three of you were hidden in shadows in the back of the theater where Kang’s presentation was taking place, your instincts were on high alert. The past few days? (Months?) had taught you that nothing was as it seemed. Even if Kang was currently pretending that he hadn’t seen your little group, you knew not to underestimate him. Every muscle in your body was tense, ready to flee the theater at a moment’s notice if necessary. If you were less of an agent and more of a civilian, you might have even grabbed Loki’s hand— which was only inches from yours in the cramped space— as an expression of the fear that you currently felt. (While you were a seasoned veteran and had seen much in your day, any sane person who knew what Kang was capable of would be scared of him.) Loki seemed to share your trepidation as his eyes never left the enigmatic presenter.
Mobius spoke in a whisper from the God’s other side: “you made him sound like this terrifying figure!”
Neither you nor Loki took your attention away from the man at the front of the room as you replied in sync, “he is.”
As if he’d heard your quiet conversation, Kang’s— in this timeline called Victor— gaze snapped to where you were standing. Although his expression didn’t change and he continued to speak to the crowd, you felt an icy wash of fear trickle down your spine. Instinctively, your weight shifted forward to your toes as you prepared to flee, knowing it wouldn’t be good if Kang or any of his variations caught you as he surely intended to.
You exchanged a glance with Loki, almost one of the same mind after you’d experienced meeting He Who Remains the first time. For Mobius’ benefit, the God breathed out: “run.”
You didn’t need to be told twice; the three of you (after some prompting to get the TVA agent moving) pushed your way as calmly— but also hurriedly— as possible through the crowd to reach the doors. While there wasn’t anyone visibly chasing after you yet, you knew better than to be fooled by the appearance of peace. Once you’d reached the busy London street, you exchanged a look with the men. Not wanting to waste anymore time, you gave one word of warning: “if we get split up, good luck.”
Then, you broke into the fastest run you could considering the crowds of people, animals and carts that went about their daily business. (How nice it would be to not be aware of the multiverse, time travel, interdimensional threats. . . but you consoled yourself that you’d probably become too bored with such a quiet life.) Unsurprisingly, Loki was able to keep pace with you pretty easily— considering he was a God who had to match your extensive training— but Mobius seemed to struggle, especially with dodging obstacles. That was fine, though (as mean as that sounded), since Kang wasn’t after him.
As you ran at a (mostly) steady pace through the winding London streets, cries and shouts began to sound from behind you— it seemed that Kang and his variants were giving the chase. You blocked out the sounds as you focused on running; one foot in front of the other, arms swinging, bent, by your sides, breaths even: in, out, in, out. You ran as you’d been trained to do: for your life. You were so focused on staying ahead of the Kangs that you even lost track of your “running partner” as Loki seemed to fall out of your peripheral vision.
You rounded a corner, and then another, and then— a hand reached out to grab your arm. If given the choice between fight or flight, your always chose the former; you reacted instantly, kicking out with your feet as you attempted to put your attacker in a headlock to take them down.
It was only after a couple seconds of struggling (why wouldn’t this peasant man go down? Didn’t they eat a diet of potatoes and gruel?), you finally registered the man’s protests: “whoa, hey! It’s me— it’s me!”
You let go to eye him suspiciously. In a flash of green, Loki’s familiar form appeared and you let out a sigh of relief which (as it usually was when it came to him) was quickly followed by irritation. “Okay, what the hell? I know you’re the fricken’ God of Mischief and all, but is now really a time to pull tricks?”
“It’s not a trick,” he reassured you. “Well, perhaps it is, in a sense— we can disguise ourselves and blend in, get them off our tail.”
The disguise of a peasant man returned, complete with grubby clothes and matted hair. You curled your lips in disgust. “Far cry from being an Asgardian prince, huh?” you mocked him. “And besides, there’s two flaws to that brilliant plan: one, what about me? I don’t have magic, so pulling me aside to tell me this is just a waste of time. And second, I’m pretty sure Kang the Conqueror can see through something this. . . elementary.”
The peasant man scowled at you, displeased by your jabs. “This is genius, first of all. Before you go touting that you know all about magic, mortal, I can share illusions. Doesn’t your super-secret special agent school teach you self-preservation, or are you willing to take the chance and outrun an impossible amount of Kangs?”
You pursed your lips, weighing your options. As much as you hated to admit it, Loki was right; taking a chance on him was probably better then depending on your running abilities. (Although, to be fair, you were a pretty good runner.) You matched his annoyed expression and crossed your arms against your chest. “Fine, we’ll do it your way— but for the record, my father taught me self-preservation.”
The God smirked at you in that irritating way of his and extended his arm towards you. “Take my hand.”
You watched him skeptically for a moment, remembering how he’d openly admitted to flirting with you in the hours before you’d confronted the Void. As you hesitated— your fatal flaw— you listened for your pursuers and heard faint shouts from their rough interactions with the common people. They were still some distance away, but not comfortable enough to completely forego Loki’s plan. You sighed and— with as much distain as you could muster— took the God’s hand.
There wasn’t anything immediately different about your appearance; when you looked down, you could still see your now-worn combat gear and dusty boots. However, when you looked over at the man next to you, you no longer saw a peasant man; Loki was back to being his infuriating (ahem, handsome) self. You frowned in confusion as you lifted your hand, turning it back and forth to try and see the difference.
“You don’t see the illusion when you’re in it,” he explained with an impossible amount of smugness. “I can assure you, however, that we look as much the same as the rest of this doldrum crowd.”
You gave him a curt nod. “Fine,” you said again. “Let’s try to get out of here, shall we?”
They made their way back onto the main street, looking just the same as the rest of the passers-by. To the rest of the common people, they merely looked like a peasant couple holding hands, out for a nice stroll. Speaking of— “shouldn’t we run?” you asked, looking over your shoulder. Although you couldn’t see the Kangs because of the crush of people, you knew they were there.
“That would draw attention to us,” Loki replied evenly, keeping the steady pace. “All parts of the illusion must be convincing for it to work.”
So, as much as all of your instincts screamed at you to run, you forced yourself to match his steps. Thankfully, the busy city was too noisy to have conversation, otherwise you might have strangled Loki right on the street. (Okay, maybe you weren’t at each other’s throats as often anymore, but he still annoyed the hell out of you.)
It happened suddenly: one moment, you were walking along with Loki at a brisk pace, and the next a man with a golden pharaoh’s headdress appeared next to them. His dark, intense eyes swept the area as he mercilessly pushed carts and people out of his way. Your grip on Loki’s hand tightened in warning, causing the God to look down at you. You jerked your head to the dark-skinned man dressed in gold. His eyes followed your motion and widened before he quickly looked away. Neither of you spoke since the illusion wouldn’t disguise your voice, but your pace picked up slightly.
The next few minutes were very tense as you waited to see if Loki’s illusions would work. It seemed as if the Kang in the Egyptian-styled clothes was tailing you. Loki knew that his magic could only do so much; to the well-trained eye, a very faint glimmer of green could still be seen. They needed to make their illusion even more believable; to do something so out of the ordinary— something that was entirely ordinary, actually— that it would convince even the keenest of observers (which surely Kang was.)
The idea came to him in an instant, causing his chest to fill with warmth. While this would certainly not be his first kiss, it would be his first kiss with you. (And, if he were being uncharacteristically honest, it might be his only chance.) Loki glanced at the Agent out of the corner of his eye, knowing how poorly such a proposal would be received. But, this was a viable suggestion to get the Kangs away from them. So, he tugged the woman next to him to a stop.
You turned to look at the God with an irritated expression. “Need a break, do you?”
Loki was looking down at you intently, his emerald gaze holding yours. Perhaps for the first time, he ignored your dig. “Kiss me.”
Not sure if you heard him right, you stared at him with wide eyes. “What?”
“Kiss me,” he repeated, a little more urgently. He glanced up at the Egyptian Kang who still lingered nearby. He lowered his voice as he hastily explained, “he suspects us. No one looks twice at two people kissing.”
“You’re cra— mmph,” your furious retort was cut off as he placed his lips on yours.
Again, your first impulse was to run, but this time for a different reason. It had been a long time since you’d kissed anyone— since your last love had ended in disaster. You’d vowed to never let anyone this close again after that, but here you were, allowing the God of Mischief to kiss you on a busy street. People brushed past you and jostled you, but Loki’s hands lightly held your arms, keeping you in place. You still had half a mind to push him away and ask what the hell was he thinking, but the other half of your thoughts registered how. . . good of a kisser he was.
You supposed that over a thousand years of practice certainly had its benefits. His lips were soft but insistent on yours, there was just enough tongue movement to make your stomach swoop (the traitor) and although you would deny it if asked, you could feel the electricity zip through you from the action. Just as your shock wore off enough to really kiss him back, Loki pulled away, his gaze flicking over your head to watch the crowd.
“He’s gone,” the God said with relief. Once he’d assessed that the danger had passed, he looked down at you with a smirk. “For someone who claims to hate me so much, I expected you to slap me instead of kiss me.”
You glared at him, any semblance of warmth that had come from the kiss disappearing as quickly as mist in the sun. “That can still be arranged.”
He gave you a shit-eating grin and wrapped an arm around your shoulders. “Come on, Agent. Tell me you didn’t enjoy that.”
You shoved his arm away and turned to resume your path through the crowd, your head held high. “I didn’t. Let’s go find Mobius. Hopefully he hasn’t gotten trampled by a stray horse or something.”
Since you’d already refocused on the mission at hand, you missed the way the God’s smug expression faltered slightly at your stout rejection. It only lasted for a fraction of a second before he quickly recovered and hurried to catch up with you. Grabbing your wrist, he added, “we should still keep our disguises up, just in case.”

My princely beast | chapter one
Summary: Loki and thanos have almost successfully taken over the planet and have dispensed of the earths mightiest hero’s. In the action however, Loki brings Tony’s daughter to his grand estate in the countryside, addled with guilt for his actions as he begins to break free from Thanos’ mind control.
Pairing: Loki x stark!oc
Warnings: darkish!loki, mind control, captive?, blood, violence, gore, smut
A/n: after re-reading ACOTAR and watching beauty and the beast this little scenario popped right into my head and after days of day dreaming I decided I had to write it.
I stare out of the fogged up window of my bedroom in this strange estate, I suppose I should be more relived I haven’t been thrown into some sort of dungeon or cell. Then again, my captor decided to throw my father to the cells and keep me so maybe I should be more worried. I have spent three days here and am yet to come across my captor, I’d have hope he doesn’t live here if not for the group of servants potting around the place, each with a hanging fear over their heads.
I turn around at the sound of a knocking at my door. Helga, a maid, comes in and places a plate of cookies on the desk in my new cell.
“You should eat something.” She tells me, not a suggestion but more of a command. I shake my head, pulling my soft hand away from the cool window, wiping the wet condensation on my night gown. I have been left such strange clothes, some clearly modern but most what I can only assume is Asgardian. I haven’t worn any of them, only kept onto a silk nightgown that drops to the floor in a soft pink hue and my black crew neck with the words “stark industries” printed on its front in bold white words. I see now that’s it’s probably all that’s left of my family, my legacy. The great Starks, reduced to nothing at the hands of a cruel god. “He hasn’t poisoned it.” Helga stars again with a roll of her eyes. “He’s not been here to poison it and I doubt he would bother himself with such trivial matters if you seem intent on starving yourself anyway.” I grab for the pale cream cookie with anxiousness, watching Helgas face as I eat. I try my best to keep an ounce of dignity, but I haven’t eaten in nearly three days.
“Why am I here?” I ask as I finish the cookie, desperate to grab another and scoff that one but I’ll wait until she goes. Helga surveys me as I sit on the bed, my body pulled as far into itself as possible, hands clenched into fists. Fear. Im completely petrified of why he kept me and what he plans to do to me.
“I do not know.” She tells me, a bow in her head showing her honesty. Maybe that’s worse, if his intentions aren’t clear to his servants then maybe I should try and leave, run as fast as I can and hope to find someone out here in the depths of the countryside. “You are free to leave.” Helga tells me, as if she has read to mind. “He has said that much.” I only stare at her in confusion. He must be a terrible captor if I am free to leave. Helga leaves me at that and the second the door clicks closed I grab for the plate and groan at the taste of sweet sugar.
Tumblr media
Afterwards, I look down at myself and see the dirt clinging to my nightgown and the messy nature of my hair and decide to shower, after all it’s very unlikely anything could happen to me in there. I walk into the vast bathroom, it’s an odd mix of old time decor and the newest technology. I fiddle with the knobs until I have it running smoothly and hot and turn around to lock the door. I pull off the jumper and fold it on the shelf but the nighgown I accept is a lost cause. When the hot water begins to cascade down my throat I all but groan, savouring the feeling of warmth and comfort. The shower is fully stocked with an array of luxurious products. I grab at the soap and scrub my body red and raw, desperately trying to remove the dirt from me but it clings to me. I slide down the soaked wall of the shower and sit on the floor, bringing my knees to my chest and for the first time in three days, since I lost everything, I cry. The pattering of hard water on stone drowns out the sound of my choked out sobs, as I heave and heave, searching for breath. After a few minutes I stand back up on shaking legs and scrub at my brown locks. I pull myself away from the warmth of the water and wrap towel around myself.
I step out of the bathroom to find the sheets of my, his bed have been changed and the plate of crumbs removed. Tugging the cotton towel closer, I survey the large chest of drawers, the top is filled with underwear, a lot from my own drawers back home and some of it new. Thick cotton socks are shoved into the corner and corset like bras are lined up in a multitude of colours. I pull out one of these corsets and a pair of my own underwear and toss them on the bed. The next draw is stacked full of nightgowns - again a mix of mine and new ones. The third draw is full of soft cotton shirts and leggings, along with thick knitted jumpers. The fourth draw is the most interesting however, I pull out stacks of thick leather, noting a deep cut vest that laces at the front and black trousers, ones that would no doubt cling to me like second skin. I shove the clothes back in the drawer and wander over to the dark oak wardrobe. All the furniture looks old, worn but the appliances, such as the large tv, new. It was as if the house had been left here abandoned and my captor had claimed it, that was easily possible.
I run my hands along the soft fabrics as I chose a dress. I land on a more earthly dress in a faded green colour and toss it to the bed too. Lined up at the bottom of the wardrobe is an assortment of shoes, red bottomed stilettos, country boots, leather boots that matched the other leather apparel my captor had left for me and an array of slip on shoes. I chose black ones with a small heel and dress myself. The dress falls to my ankles, billowing lightly around me, it cuts diagonally at my shoulders, showing my collarbone. The back laces up and I wrestle with the fabric as I tug them tight, allowing the dress to cling to the curves of my body. I slip on the shoes and sneak at my door, worried I’ll find someone outside it.
I pull open the heavy wood and find an unbreathing corridor. I keep my hands clenched into fists as I walk slowly down the hallway, my head anxiously darting from left to right like the god will attack me from the shadows. I turn at the end of the hallway and find the stairs to the foyer. I scale down them anxiously, watching the door with heavy breaths. I don’t see anyone else around the house, no cooks or cleaners but the house is in perfect condition and there is no way Helga could do it all herself. Magic most likely, dark dangerous magic belonging to a darker and much more dangerous man. I reach the bottom of the stairs and contemplate going for the door and running but I have no clue where I am, no coat or food and no weapon to defend myself. That’s what I should do, find something to defend myself with. I wander the hallways in search of a kitchen, hoping to steal a cutting knife, better than nothing. I find the kitchen at last but nearly grown as I find Helga in there, preparing a large chicken with numerous spices, I see bubbling pots on the stove full of vegetables and a tray of bread rolls waiting to be cooked. It can’t all be for me. Dread settles over me as I realise he’s coming to the house, to my prison. Helga looks up at me and says nothing, going back to her cooking, the knives are on the other side of the kitchen and if she is distracted she probably won’t notice me grabbing one for the rack. Attempting to be nonchalant, I walk around the kitchen Island and towards my weapons but before I can wrap my sweating palm around a blade Helga interrupts me.
“He keeps his weapons in the armoury, it’s in the right wing, the doors down and to your right.” I don’t turn around, or move or make a noise. I can’t help but question why she would tell me such things, what motive she might have. “There’s a chest full of throwing knives and daggers, ones with sheaths.” She tells me, not looking up from the potato she is currently peeling. “You’ll cut yourself on that knife if you keep it at your chest, the smartest place to keep a knife.” Trusting Helga seems stupid but she seems to have lied about nothing else and there is nothing malicious in her tone. I retreat from the kitchen without a word and stalk down the corridors, I takes me nearly an hour to find the armoury in the maze of a house and true to her word it is full of weapons. I find a chest and prop it open, fishing out a dagger, its handle is gold and carved with runes that match the ones on the leather sheath. A large emerald stone is placed at the hilt and I turn it over in my hands, feeling the heavy weight of the metal - most likely Asgardian. I shove it down my chest and stand up. He might he furious at me for taking from him, he might even kill me but I do not care, I do not have much to live for anymore.
Tumblr media
With the dagger safely at my chest, I retreat and head back to my room but I stop when I hear voices coming from the kitchen, I hide around the corner, recognising the quick tone of Helga and the dark growl of my captor.
“She left her room?” He asks, Helga responds in a simple yes as she chops, the sound of the knife clattering though the room. “And what did she do?” He asks her. I still, the colour draining from my face, limbs shaking.
“Came in here in search of a knife.” Helga drones, entirely uninterested. I wait in heavy silence for a negative reaction from my captor but receive none, only an interested hum. “I told her she’d have better luck in the armoury and she left, almost likely to grab a better blade.” My captor muses himself with a huff of his breath and sighs. “Interesting…” he says. “Do relay my message to her.” He asks and then he’s stalking out of the room and I press myself as far into the wall as I can go. I thank whatever good is out there and he turns and storms down the hallway, not even noticing me.
Tumblr media
Hours later, Helga stands at my doorway again. I put down a copy of “little women” I found on one of the shelves in the room and look up at her, wondering if it has anything to do with my captor and his conversation with her.
“The prince has invited you to dine with him.” Helga tells me, no emotion in her voice. My dark eyebrows furrow in confusion at his ‘invitation’. “He wishes to disgust a deal.” She informs me, I still remain frozen upon the bed. “If I were you I’d listen to what he has to say and if things were to go awry then… run like hell.” She tells me and then she is gone, shouting down the hall to be ready for eight. I glance at the clock and see it is in an hour.
After twenty minutes of consideration, I decide I will go. I keep on the dress I’m already wearing and ignore the makeup laid out for me on the vanity unit. My hair has now dried and I decided to plait it on a wreath around my head, keeping it up and out of my face, a practical hairstyle in case things go awry.

Too close
Tumblr media
Pairing: Brad!wolfe x fem!reader
Summary: Brad or X5 is closer to you than with other workers and you don't know why.
Word Count: 3.6k
Warnings: Fight in an alley, violence (not very graphic), bad words, use words to describe the reader's appearance such as height or eye shape but nothing too specific to be considered an OC, not proofread
A/N: Ok after episode 5 I have to admit that I doesn't hate Brad that much anymore as much as Sylvie and now I need to see him in the final episode at least so that he can redeem himself or know that he is still alive idk. Btw, how difficult it's to write something about a character who appears so little and says so little and try not to always repeat or recreate the same scenes.
Tumblr media
You ran as fast as you could with your ponytail swinging from side to side and your brown skirt flowing with every movement of your legs. On your chest you clutched a yellow folder with papers that threatened to fly away. Your face reflected the urgency and concern of receiving a warning for being late. You were an analyst and your duty was to report any possible trace of variants and then file them to give them to Mobius, your job was also sometimes to go out and look for variants like Mobius and Loki did.
Jogging through the halls of the great TVA you passed Hunter x5 and didn't realize until he exclaimed
"Whoa whoa stop there, don't you say hello anymore?"
You stopped panting tiredly in front of him and with a distressed face, you didn't have time for this. He was wearing his typical short-sleeved black uniform with his gloves that marked his name. His hands were holding his collar in an intimidating pose.
"I'm sorry x5 but I'm really in a hurry right now"
The hunter pretended to be hurt and put his hand on his chest, closing his eyes and making a sad face. You rolled your eyes and gasped in frustration. He seemed to always want to keep you and waste your time.
"Ouch, that hurt, you know? Someday you're going to kill me" he said sarcastically.
"I'm serious x5, I have to go but I'll see you later, ok?"
Before he can say anything you touched his arm tenderly, forcing a smile despite your worried frown and ran off gracefully. He stared at your hand as you touched him and then turned to see you running away with an amused smile.
______________________________________________________________
When you got to where Mobius was, your hair was disheveled and your clothes were a little disheveled from running so much, but a smile appeared on your face as you held the folder high, triumphant and proud. You didn't say anything waiting for someone to notice your presence and then you would catch your breath. Mobius and Loki were talking about something in whispers until the gray-haired man saw you and turned to look at you completely.
"Oh y/n there you are! and you finally bring the folder, we were waiting for you"
You sighed in relief even with your smile on your face, happy to be able to accomplish your mission. You always stood out for being efficient in your work apart from your warm, sweet and helpful personality.
Loki approached you smiling and took the folder, you were turning around about to leave feeling free of responsibilities when Mobius turned his head to look at you and say
"Oh y/n, wait, don't leave yet, we have an alert about a variant in London. Could you please take care of it? Don't worry, you won't go alone."
You opened your eyes wide in surprise and you were left speechless, you did not expect to have another task to complete so quickly, you planned to have some tea first.
"Oh..but I- uh..". You mumbled awkwardly and in a low tone.
"I promise it will only be a second, we can't do it, we're busy.". He said referring to Loki and himself.
While he said that, he took out his tempad and began to send orders to someone. You didn't know who Mobius was talking to, but a growing premonition took over you. That feeling became palpable when a figure you already knew entered the room and stood behind you.
"X5 just in time, you will accompany y/n to look for the variant, alright? I will send you the coordinates and all the necessary information in your tempads"
X5 nodded without removing his hands from his collar and standing firm, you closed your eyes and sighed as you turned around and met his mischievous eyes, giving you a small lopsided smile. You frowned and pressed the corner of your lip, it's not that you didn't want to work with him but every time they assigned the two of you together he got a little annoying and wouldn't stop teasing you. You both left the room and walked through the hallways with X5 following your step.
"How soon we saw each other again little mouse". He said looking at you without stopping walking.
That nickname almost made you freeze in place but you simply turned your head and gave him a playful smile, he always called you that since you were petite than him, in fact you were the shortest worker almost O.B's height and every now and then you had to look at people with your head slightly raised or stand on tiptoe. Anyway, that silly nickname didn't bother you, on the contrary, it made you smile because you knew he was like that.
"Don't get excited, it's just for work reasons". You said without stopping smiling at him as you took a funny turn and walked backwards.
"How mean". He said with irony
You gave him an innocent smile as you shrugged and turned to walk normally again. He came forward and started walking next to you.
"By the way, isn't it strange that they always put you with me on missions? Could it be because I'm stronger than you?". He asked with a mocking tone but with an intention underneath.
This time you did stand up and turn around to face him with your hands on your hips, frowning and pouting a little, you looked so adorable that he just smirked, proud that he had made you fall into his trap. You raised your head to get a good look at him.
"Hey, be careful what you say! I can be strong if I want to."
Then you gave him a small punch on his arm, to which he leaned back a little, laughing and pretending to hold his arm in pain.
"Oh be careful with that, you almost sent me to the hospital."
You exhaled air through your mouth as you looked up at the ceiling in annoyance. You took out your tempad and touching a button on the screen made a bright orange-yellow time door appear.
"Let's not waste any more time, will you? The faster we do this, the better."
"After You"
He let you pass and you crossed the door, disappearing while X5 followed immediately behind you.

LONDON 1977
You two arrived at a branch in London in the 70's where there seemed to be the big premiere of a movie, so you discovered it from the large billboard that was at the entrance to the theater and that said "ZANIAC". X5 next to you seemed to admire the big lights and the elegantly dressed people as if those spotlights only shined for him. He gave a surprised whistle before saying
"Wow the people here really have fun". He said as he turned around and looked around and up.
"You could be a good actor". You told him laughing
"You really think that?". He turned to see you with a sparkle in his eyes, he seemed to like the idea.
You shrugged, smiling. "I don't know, we're in the TVA anyway, remember?"
"Yeah right..". he said somehow serious
At that moment you realized that you two were still wearing your uniforms and people would start to see you strangely, you had to change your clothes to fit in now. You took out your tempad and told it to do the same, luckily that device included the appropriate clothes that Mobius had assigned for you, all you had to do was press a button and you were fully dressed.
"What do you think if we go somewhere to change and then we meet to see each other? That way it will be a surprise!". You said, biting your lower lip and smiling playfully, sometimes you were childish but so genuinely and with so many good intentions that it was difficult to say no to you.
X5 rolled his eyes but smiled at you
"Ok if you prefer, let's meet in a minute in the back alley"
You nodded and trotted towards a dead end and he walked in the opposite direction. You pressed the button on your tempad and magically your uniform disappeared in an orangey holographic snap, as if a portal had passed through you and had exchanged your clothes for a beautiful long navy blue dress with a train, even your typical ponytail had been replaced by a high bun with curly strands framing the sides of your face. The dress was strapless and the final part of the skirt was decorated with pearls that varied in size. You wished you could have a mirror in front of you. You took a graceful slow turn trying to see your back and admire the train of your dress. You have never felt so beautiful. And that was not all, the dress had a small hidden pocket to store the tempad, Mobius had thought of everything, the dress was practical, beautiful and functional. When the agreed time had passed, you headed to the alley where X5 was waiting for you. You walked a little self-conscious for wearing something so elegant and not your usual casual clothes. You looked down, playing with your fingers nervously as you walked, you saw your partner's back turned and you stopped. You could see that he had a new haircut that suited him really well, and a black tuxedo.
"X5?"
Your soft and melodious voice made him wake up from his lethargy and he turned around distractedly to see you. When he did, he was left speechless with his mouth barely open. His gaze swept your figure up and down.
"Well? How do I look?". You asked him innocently with a worried frown forming between your eyebrows as you held your fingers anxiously.
X5 still couldn't say a word, he moved his mouth trying to say something but he couldn't. He never imagined seeing you with something as beautiful as that night. In front of him you stood out like a shining star, your tight dress highlighted your figure making you look sexy but your locks framing your face, your soft tilt of your head and those beautiful doe eyes that made him melt gave you a sweet appearance.
"You y-you look... I mean-... you". He started saying but no matter how hard he tried he did nothing but babble.
You laughed softly, slightly covering your mouth with the tips of your fingers without stopping to look at him. He cursed himself for acting like a fool in front of you, but your elegant gestures hypnotized him and he couldn't get angry with you. Finally, he sighed and said.
"You look beautiful"
You opened your eyes wider, if that was possible, and looked at him like a lost puppy, standing up even more and straightening your back in surprise, he almost had to close his eyes to take your penetrating eyes off of him. Right there you realized how good he looked, more than good, hot. You had always admired men who wore tuxedos and knew how to dress well but he had taken it to another level, he had adorned his black tuxedo with a white scarf around his neck resting on his shoulders, underneath his white shirt was slightly open, now his Brown hair had grown out and was no longer short on the sides but was slightly combed back with a nice tuft of hair on her forehead pushed back. You could stare at it for hours and not get tired, but you smiled and sincerely exclaimed
"And you look very good, I like your tuxedo and especially your new hairstyle"
He seemed to smile delightedly and ran a hand through his hair, combing it with his fingers. He murmured a thank you and then seemed to remember the mission and approached you, grabbing you by the arm so that you could rest yours on his, to which you were surprised by looking at him, blushing
"You will be my date tonight"
He smiled innocently but then he saw your rosy cheeks and realized what he had just said so he quickly corrected himself.
"I mean as an alibi! We have to hide so they don't discover us, you know.". He cleared his throat, trying not to look at you.
You sighed nervously, trying to hide your face with your hand, trying to push your curls away from your face. Without further ado, they both entered through a glass door. Inside there were many well-dressed people gossiping and laughing, several photographers were taking photos and waiters passed by with silver trays serving drinks. You weren't used to so much opulence or parties surrounded by people but X5 seemed to enjoy it. Feeling somewhat intimate, you clung to your partner's arm with both hands, squeezing it a little and bringing your tense body closer to him. He looked at you confused and noticed your strong grip and immediately became serious and brought his lips to your ear, causing a pleasant tickling that made you more nervous.
"You alright?"
You raised your head not expecting him to speak to you and when you did you felt that his face was very close to yours, you could almost feel his warm breath on your face, he looked at you with a hint of concern.
"Yes, thanks". You simply said nodding, you didn't want to overwhelm him with your worries, although you didn't know that he could listen to you for hours without getting bored.
You started weaving around people remembering that you had to catch a variant so the two of you looked around the place with your eyes scanning for the person you were looking for. The cameras didn't stop firing their flashes. Suddenly your fellow hunter spotted a man who was behaving suspiciously.
"Come to the back of the room, I think I found it."
Without hesitation he took your hand and guided you to where the guy was looking from side to side trying not to be seen. As they walked X5 smiled at the cameras even though they weren't really pointed at him, you frowned in confusion and an amused smile crossed your lips.
"What are you doing?". You laughed softly
He answered you without looking at you while he continued smiling looking at the photographers. "What do I seem to be doing? Smiling at the paparazzi"
You shook your head smiling, you forgot that he could be a little…vain sometimes.
"I noticed that but why? You're not famous"
"It's to blend in with people, darling"
You rolled your eyes even though you liked the new nickname better, it sounded elegant.
"Yes, of course, whatever you say, sometimes I think you enjoy this more than I do." . You laughed
They were both about a meter away from the variant, a man with short black hair with a scar over his right eye. His eyebrows were bushy and his prominent, square jaw gave him a threatening appearance. Some men and women were in front of the two of you and due to your height you had to crane your neck to see well, X5 took you by the shoulder and gently dragged you towards a space in the crowd where the man they were looking for could clearly be seen.
"Ok now we'll get closer, you just humor me"
You were about to protest but he pulled you to follow him until you were face to face with the man. You cursed inside, sometimes X5 was too impulsive and then he didn't know how to act and got into trouble.
"Hey man! How have you been? Do you still remember me?"
The man opened his eyes while furrowing his eyebrows in an expression between terror and disgust while your partner patted his arms with a big smile. You prayed inside that he wouldn't find out.
The variant forced a teeth-clenched smile that was intended to be natural. "Excuse me, have we met before?"
X5 pretended to be offended, muffling a somewhat exaggerated exclamation, you had to make an effort not to roll your eyes and facepalm.
"So I'm really sorry you've forgotten about me! What a shame because I still remember every day."
You bit your cheek to keep from letting out a smile that would turn into a giggle. Now more strongly you thought that he could really be an actor.
"I'm sorry but I don't know who you are.". Growl annoys the variant
The man was about to turn around to leave when X5 stopped him with a quick gesture, making the man look at him with hatred.
"No no wait don't leave yet, I haven't introduced you to my girlfriend." He said pointing at you with his open palm.
You hoped with all your might that your face hadn't turned red from what he had just said, you knew it was an alibi but still having that word come out of your mouth made you tingle. Smiling, you extended your hand to shake it.
"Jack has told me a lot about you."
X5 turned his head to look at you with a frown and big eyes, confusion was present in his gaze. His face almost screamed: what are you doing? don't screw up!
The handshake the man gave you was short and rough, almost disgusting. Your partner turned his head again to see the variant with a forced smile.
"So, how about we go outside and catch up?"
The man was obviously not an idiot, luckily he still didn't know who we were or what we really worked on but even so he could sense something suspicious so for a second he narrowed his eyes studying us and then smiled unconcernedly.
"Sure, I just have to go to the bathroom first."
The man walked away with sure steps and your companion stood watching him laughing as he left. When he turned to see you he frowned again like before when you had shaken the man's hand.
"What, Jack? What kind of name is that?"
"I don't know! I couldn't think of anything better, sorry!"
X5 sighed with his hands on his hips opening the jacket of his tuxedo, suddenly you saw that the variant was not heading to the bathrooms but was running towards the back door.
"Uhm.. X5..". You said pointing towards the background
"What? what's wrong?"
"He's running!!"
They both started running through the alleys following him, you had to take off your pretty heels and carry them in one hand to be able to run better. The fear of stepping on some glass or something sharp was always present during the chase, X5 knew that so from time to time he looked back to where you were and looked at the ground in case there was something that you would hurt yourself with.
The man with the scar was in the lead but soon found himself trapped between a fence that prevented him from escaping on the other side. You and X5 arrived just in time as the man spit insults at you. When your partner approached to take him by the arm, the variant struggled and the two became intertwined in a fierce fight with shoving, until the black-haired man gave him a good punch in X5's face. You screamed desperately, approaching your partner who staggered and fell to the ground, losing his balance, you grabbed his face looking for wounds but he was focused, snorting like a bull and looking at the man who had hit him. You stood up and struggled with the man ready to drag him with you and take him away from there. But he was too strong and he pushed you sending you to the ground in pain, you landed backwards on your butt with your palms resting on the cement.
"You stay out of it, bitch!". He shouted degradingly
This seemed to light a fire in X5 because he stood up with a scowl and grabbed the guy by the neck and slammed him against a brick wall.
"Listen to me, you idiot, you will come with me and learn to treat women well. And you better obey.". He said angrily with his face close to the man looking with hatred
You were still on the ground looking at the scene scared, you had never seen your partner so angry before. It is true that he was tough when he pruned the variants and he was not afraid to demonstrate authority or dominance with his pruning cane. But you had never heard so much hate in his voice while he defended you.
X5 took out his tempad and furiously pressed a button to open the door of time, then he pushed the black-haired man abruptly and mercilessly. He was agitated and his brow furrowed at his growing fury, then he saw you lying on the ground and his face softened. He bent down to extend a hand to you and ask if you were okay. You nodded still in shock and thanked him with your eyes for his help. You stood up without difficulty and then squeezed his hands in relief.
"Thank you really, for defending me"
You wanted to show him your eternal gratitude, to let him know and understand that you were eternally grateful to him. You would never forget what he had done for you today. He smiled at you and then straightened his clothes, you helped him with his hair that had become disheveled. Then you crossed the door of time. X5 took a moment to breathe deeply and then walked in behind you.

I don't know if I'll do another part or some kind of series about this, I honestly don't know if I'll publish it either, this was actually going to stay in drafts as a silly self-indulgent fic. If I get to publish it, well, you're welcome tumblr

Scared to be Lonely
Part Two   Part Three    Epilogue
Summary: After S.W.O.R.D. helps with the clean-up in the Cairo aftermath, they ask Marc to return the favor: guard a variant Loki’s estranged wife while Thor and S.W.O.R.D. try to track down the evasive Godbutcher. Yet leave it to a “catty space princess” to throw the Moon Knight for a loop.
Pairing: Marc x Fem!OC, eventual Steven x Fem!OC and Jakex Fem!OC, past Loki x Fem!OC, past Marc x Layla
Rating: Explicit, Minors DNI!
Word Count: 7.3k (hahahaha wut?!)
TW/CW: Leave it to Oscar Isaac to end my decade (?) long hiatus from writing fic...it’s so long and filthy I had to split it up into parts instead of posting in one go like I’d planned. But for this bit - talk of divorce, mention of forced marriage, angst, oral (m receiving), fingering, dirty talk, barebacking (wrap it before you tap it IRL folx), p in v sex, and a smidge of creampie & cum-eating
Tumblr media
“This is beneath me,” Khonshu declared yet again, materializing on the bus seat across from Marc, “Since when does a venerated member of the Ennead, and therefore by extension his avatar, serve as a paladin for Loki’s brat bride?”
Marc pulled out his phone. Pretended to make a call. Held the phone to his ear and then spoke. “Since if it wasn’t for S.W.O.R.D. last month the clean-up in Cairo would’ve been more of a mess than it was.”
Khonshu bristled. “I don’t trust them.”
“We agree there. But all things considered, as far as S.W.O.R.D. calling in the favor I owe them, there could be worse asks. Besides, if there’s really a deranged godkiller out there, we need intel.”
“Resorting to lowly bureaucrats instead of finding the adversary yourself. No wonder she left yo--”
“Ok talk to you soon!” Marc pretended to hang up and pushed Khonshu to the back of his mind.
Any mention of Layla was a conversation-ender.  Khonshu was severely mistaken if he thought Marc was any more excited about guarding Loki’s ex-wife from another universe than he was, but if Marc was being honest, he could use a distraction. The two weeks since he’d signed the papers had been…rough.
A calm, robotic female voice came over the bus’s loudspeaker and announced his stop. He stepped off the bus into an impossibly posh area of London. Funny how different areas of the city could be so starkly different they felt like separate worlds.
The S.W.O.R.D. operative was waiting for Marc outside of Claridge’s as said he would be.
“Agent Woo,” Marc greeted him.
“Mister..?” Woo struggled with how to return the greeting, trying to determine who he was speaking to.
Marc watched him squirm for a moment or two, then put him out of his discomfort, “Spector. The other one has a British accent so thick it borders on hokey.”
Sod off, Steven chimed from one of the polished window panes of the luxury hotel’s entryway.
At least he counted you, Jake added. Marc was still grappling with the existence of another alter, and it was none of S.W.O.R.D’s business.
“Oh, okay, thanks. Shall we?” Woo gestured to the door, eager to put his gaffe behind them.
The two men made their way across the grand, bustling lobby. Marc had never been to the hotel, but it was more or less what he expected. Chandelier, black and white marble tiles, a sweeping staircase.
“What am I walking into here?” Marc asked. When googling his charge, Sigyn, he hadn’t found much. He’d even consulted a few of Steven’s mythology books but they contained little more information about the Norse goddess. All Marc was working off of was, until recently, that she was the long-suffering wife of Loki, god of mischief and chaos, and that Sigyn was given the title of goddess of fidelity for her trouble.
Woo called the elevator. “You read the brief?”
“Of course I read the brief,” Marc fired back. It had been frustratingly vague to his chagrin, but not to his surprise. Sigyn was a “variant”, a person who had come from another universe into theirs. In her dimension, she’d been married to Loki for centuries on Asgard and part of the ruling royal family. S.W.O.R.D. suspected that her universe’s Loki had gone rogue, conspiring with the entity who had been destroying gods across the multiverse.
“She’s lovely,” Woo said as they got on the elevator.
“Don’t bullshit me.”
Woo deflated. “Her highness comes off as arrogant, imperious. Our psychiatrist says it’s because she’s still feeling vulnerable after her husband left her. We need her for intel obviously, but our team has lead on Gorr–”
“The godkiller” Marc interjected.
“Yes. Thor doesn’t want her to come. Our leadership agrees, it’s too risky. We can’t lose our two closest connections to Loki and Asgardian assets should the mission go south.”
“So you called me to babysit rather than actually help you.”
“You are helping,” Woo insisted. “And your status as a consultant with us is delicate, Mr. Spector. S.W.O.R.D. is protecting you and your alter from several international authorities. Fail to keep the princess safe and perhaps we’ll reconsider.”
“Does she have the same affinity for lightning as her brother-in-law?”
The elevator reached the top floor.
“No, but like other Asgardians, she has increased strength and invulnerability, heightened senses and stamina, in addition to the Allspeak. She’s a practitioner of magic, but her skills are nowhere near Loki’s. She also tells us she can hold her own in a fight.”
“Hand-to-hand combat or with a weapon?”
“Doesn’t matter. Under no circumstances is she to leave the premises of the hotel. We’d prefer if you two stayed in the suite at all times.”
“Worse cages to be kept in,” Marc commented as they walked down the plush-carpeted hallway to what he guessed was a penthouse.
“Tell that to her,” Woo muttered under his breath.
The pair reached the door to the Asgardians’ suite. Two armed guards were posted outside. Marc stopped Woo before the agent could give the nod for entry to his colleagues.
“Do I really have to call her your highness?”
“If she likes you she’ll let you call her Sigyn, she picked that up from Thor.”
“So you call her Sigyn.”
Woo snorted. “Ha! No.”
With that, Woo motioned to the operatives and they opened the door. Six more guards and agents were inside from what he could see, and Marc could barely take in the elegance of the spacious and cream-colored suite before Thor stormed into its living area. He was in full battle guard: helmet, cape, and the massive axe that Marc always assumed was over-compensation for other “shortcomings”.
Hot on his heels was a woman adorned in a large gold helm of her own. Where Thor’s was winged on the sides, hers has two large semi-circles and a dazzling emerald inlaid in the center right above her brow. Though her respective cape was green - her husband’s color Steven clocked - she wore a glittering gold gown. Sigyn.
The more Marc observed her, everything about Sigyn seemed gem-like. Long, honey-colored  tresses tumbled down her back, and her skin was fair but sun-kissed. A pair of sapphire-like blue eyes competed for brilliance with the emerald on her helmet. Her cheekbones were high, her lashes were long, her lips were full, and her build athletic.
Loki left her? What an idiot, Jake marveled. I’d chain her to my bed and live inside of her–
Marc blocked him out before Jake could finish the thought.
Though you’ve got to admit, she certainly looks like a goddess, doesn’t she?
He turned away from Steven’s image in the mirrored cabinet behind the dining table across the room. Marc was a professional. Unlike his alters, he could handle being in the same room as a beautiful woman. He pulled himself out of his head, focusing on the argument unfolding in front of him.
“No one knows Loki like I do,” Sigyn asserted.
Thor wasn’t convinced. “I’m his brother.”
“Adopted brother. I’m his wife,” she countered.
“Estranged wife,” Thor shot back just as quickly. He scrubbed a massive hand over his face. It was clear they’d had this dispute before. “I need you to stay here, Sigyn. You’ll get your crack at him, I swear it, but not yet.
Thor spotted them before the princess could get another word in. “Oh brilliant! Your knight is here!”
The Asgardian crossed to them quickly, his hurried gait betraying his desperation to change the subject. Sigyn glared at the trio of men with disdain. She may have only married into royalty, but it appeared to Marc that Sigyn definitely had her imperial sneer down.
“Cut the cow dung, brother. You mean my nanny.” She narrowed her gaze onto Marc. Everyone else in the room followed suit.
Sigyn’s stare was withering. Was he supposed to bow? “Don’t you dare”, Khonshu protested.
Marc offered his hand instead. “Marc Spector…your highness.”
Sigyn didn’t take his hand. The princess’s face gave away nothing. Instead, she looked at Thor expectantly.
“Lord Spector, allow me to introduce you to her royal highness Princess Sigyn of Asgard.”
“Thanks but um, I’m not a lord.”
Thor was thrown. “You’re a knight, aren’t you?”
“I’m the avatar of the Egyptian god, Khonshu. Moon Knight is a title but I don’t have subjects or anything.”
Sigyn groaned. “Norns”. She swept out of the living area into what must have been a bedroom, making sure to slam the door behind her.
Thor broke the subsequent awkward silence.
“So now you’ve met my sister,” he sent the other men a conciliatory smile. “Technically, we’re not siblings, or really in-laws even, but she’s fast become the younger sister I never had, you know?”
“Sure,” Marc offered.
“I’m an only child,” Agent Woo blurted.
“Anyway, Marc, I was hoping to see Khonshu! It’s been a literal eternity since I’ve seen that crazy old bird!” Thor scanned the room.“Is he here?”
Marc glimpsed Khonshu in his periphery shaking his head. “Not now, no,” he lied. “The Ennead relocated to the Overvoid, so it’s complicated to–”
“We need to go,” a female voice tinged with an eastern European accent interrupted him. A smaller blonde woman entered in tactical gear. “Is the Princess Bride taken care of?”
“Yes!” Thor exclaimed. “Marc Spector, Yelena Belova.”
Yelena shook Marc’s hand. “You’re Sigyn’s personal detail?” he nodded. “You poor son of a bitch.”
“I’ve been a mercenary for over a decade, I think I can handle a catty space princess.”
“Exactly! You’re the best there is,” Thor pulled Marc close to him. The Asgardian lowered his tone, “She’s been through a lot as of late. First her husband leaves her and then she’s transported to a different realm, in an entirely different universe where they were never wed, not to mention he’s dead here too.”
“I get it. Sort of. I got divorced recently.” Marc had no idea why he said it. Did he drink and fight about the split from Layla? Yes. But talk about it? Never.
“Great!” The god of thunder caught himself. “It’s not great, I’m sorry, though perhaps you wanted to get divorced? Who am I kidding? Breakups are always hard. Well, they are for me, you seem like the stoic type. But it is great you two have something in common.”
The suite had nearly emptied. Before Thor followed suit, he went to Sigyn’s closed door and knocked. No answer.
“Seeg? We’re leaving.” Still no response. Thor tried another tactic. “They may come here, you know. That’s why we need you and Marc to stay behind.”
Sigyn’s reply came in the form of a pillow being hurled at Thor’s face that sailed through a gold hole in the top half of the door that disappeared as swiftly as it materialized.
Bloody hell, Steven marveled at the casual use of magic.
Thor remained undeterred, shouting “I love you, sister!” before he took his leave.
Agent Woo headed for the door too, clapping Marc on the shoulder. “She’s all yours.”
Marc stopped him. “Wait, you’re not staying?”
“I thought you read the brief! It clearly outlined that this is an all-hands-on-deck situation, which is why we called you. Plus, I'm pretty sure she despises me. The door guards stay. Charge whatever you need to the room. We’ll be back as soon as we can.”
Less than a minute later, the room was deserted. Marc approached Sigyn’s door. He tried knocking and calling for her, but she remained non-responsive.
“She didn’t climb out the window, did she?”
“The princess is still here,” Khonshu assured him before adding “unfortunately.”
“Might as well make the best of it.”
Marc wasted no time flopping onto the couch that probably cost more than his last car, ordering room service, and several putting pay-per-view fights on S.W.O.R.D’s tab. If he was lucky, Sigyn would stay holed up in the bedroom until everyone came back.
Those hopes were dashed ninety minutes later when the princess emerged from her bedroom and padded into the living room. No longer in her ceremonial battle armor, Sigyn wore a simple ivory linen dress. Marc turned off the TV reflexively when she entered the room.
Sigyn studied him, her eyes inquisitive and piercing. “You’re the Moon Knight?”
“Just Moon Knight. No ‘the’. Fuck it, just call me Marc.”
“But there’s another man that lives within you.”
“Yes.”
“What’s his name?”
“Steven.”
Sigyn nodded, digesting the information. Marc was surprised to see there were no traces of wariness or distaste on her face, simply curiosity.
“And you both serve Khonshu?”
“I do more than he does.”
Wouldn’t at all if it were up to me, Steven remarked, his face warped in the silver of the serving cover that the room service had been delivered under.
“I’d like to apologize for my behavior earlier. I made a rather terrible first impression.”
“Don’t mention it. Thor told me what you’re dealing with right now.”
An exasperated sigh escaped past Sigyn’s plump lips, “I wish he hadn’t. He treats me as if I were made of glass, it drives me mad.”
“He cares about you.”
She softened slightly. “It’s all too easy to forget he's not actually the brother I’ve spent the last however many years with. Otherwise he’d know.”
“Know what?”
“That I am not a fragile, helpless princess that needs your protection, Marc.”
He stood, went to her. Marc fought to ignore the intoxicating scent of jasmine that flooded his nostrils when he crowded his space to test her. “Oh yeah? So why haven’t you given me the slip then?
Her sapphire eyes turned hungry. “Have you looked in a mirror lately?”
“Not if I can help it.”
Sigyn chuckled. She lifted her chin in an attempt to make up for the inch or so Marc had her height-wise. “You remind me of my husband. Ex-husband.”
“Ouch,” he replied with faux hurt.
“You strike me as a man who doesn’t take well to authority,” she explained, “so are you really going to listen to those puny Midgardian peons and keep us confined to this room?”
Marc smirked at her, but he didn’t answer Sigyn. This was a game he could play. And win.
“Perhaps you really are only a knight in name, hmm? Especially if you’re afraid of protecting a superior being who received her combat training from Odin’s elite Crimson Hawks.”
It was Marc’s turn to chuckle. She was goading him, trying to use reverse psychology. He leaned in close, hovered his lips millimeters from her ear. “Nice try.”
Marc stepped back from her and returned to the couch. Clicked the TV back on. Before he could resume the boxing match he’d been watching, Sigyn followed him to the couch.
“Merely my only opening gambit. I’d caution you trying to play mind games with me, Marc. I was married to the god of mischief for a very long time.”
“Sweetie, you have no idea who you’re dealing with.”
“It’s your highness.”
That’s it, give me the body! Jake demanded. I’m going to bend her over and–
Marc did his best to retain control of the body and cover any signs from bleeding onto his face as he stared Sigyn down.
Khonshu didn’t make it any easier, “For once I agree with the ruffian.”
“Marc?”
“Yeah”
“Are you well?”
“Never better,” he pivoted immediately. “Cards on the table, I only agreed to this because I want to know more about the godkiller–”
“Godbutcher.”
“Excuse me?”
“He calls himself the Godbutcher”.
“That’s a hell of a name to give yourself,” Marc mused. “Who has he butchered so far?”
“We don’t know how many. I’ve overheard that some members of the Greek pantheon were victims. Thor refuses to tell me anything more, which means he’s afraid.”
“Where were they going?”
“You believe they’d tell me?”
“No I don’t, but you’re too savvy to wait to be told,” Marc pressed. “You must know something.”
The television remote flew from the table into Sigyn’s hand. She turned off the TV. “Take me to dinner and I’ll tell you all that I know. I hear the restaurant downstairs is fabulous.”
“So you can be closer to an exit and lose me in a crowd? I don’t think so.”
“I genuinely haven’t the faintest idea where they went,” she averred. “If I did, we likely wouldn’t be able to follow them anyhow since you don’t have the tech, nor I the magic to traverse the multiverse.”
“They’re traveling inter-dimensionally?”
“That’s the most I was able to glean.”
“Why are you telling me this?”
“Because I have been locked in these rooms for nearly four days and I am going mad,” Sigyn confessed, her eyes locked with Marc’s so he could see the truth in them.
“The restaurant downstairs,” he agreed. Sigyn’s face lit up. “That’s it though.”
“Of course,” she flit back to her room.
“I should have claimed Layla for my next avatar when I had the chance,” Khonshu lamented. Marc turned to face him. “You don’t use the head on your shoulders to negotiate.”
“Keep her out of your craven attempts to control me,” Marc fired back. “I’m containing Sigyn so you can go find where Thor and S.W.O.R.D. went to.”
Khonshu cocked his skull, impressed. “Perhaps you’re not as useless as I thought.”
The god vanished and Marc snuck over to Sigyn’s bedroom, listening through the door. She was on the phone.
“Under Sigyn Odi–-Sigyn Frodisdottir please. No, the private dining room won’t be necessary.”
Marc’s notion of Sigyn trying to lose him among the hotel guests wasn’t unfounded after all it seemed. He was taken aback by how gracious the princess was, however. There wasn’t a trace of the haughtiness in her tone that she’d spoken to Marc or the S.W.O.R.D agents with.
Sigyn continued with who Marc guessed was the concierge, “I was curious if your personal shopper might be available? Wonderful! One minute, I’ll ask him–”
Her footsteps got closer and Marc launched himself through the hallway to resume his position on the couch before the door opened. When Sigyn appeared, Marc was tapping away on his phone, pretending he’d been there the entire time.
She handed him the receiver. “The shopper requires your measurements.”
“I thought we were just going to dinner?”
“Not with you dressed like that.”
Marc rolled his eyes. So much for Sigyn abandoning her royal airs. She retreated to her room once more and left Marc with the phone.
He put the phone to his ear. “Don’t make me look like a douche, alright?”
***
It’s official. You definitely look like a douche, Jake mocked Marc’s reflection as he straightened his tie in the suite’s spare bedroom.
I think we look sharp, Steven offered.
“Fuck it,” Marc took off the tie and tossed it on the bed. He undid the top three buttons of the hideously expensive shirt the Claridge’s personal shopper got him instead. Sigyn would deal.
Marc called for her, “We gotta go! You said seven, right?”
“A moment more!” Came the princess’s muffled reply through the door.
He waited for her in the living room. Caught his reflection again on the TV screen.
“I do look like a douche.”
Sigyn’s door opened before Marc could change back to the clothes he arrived in. Her hair was artfully piled atop her head, exposing the golden skin of Sigyn’s shoulders since the deceptively simple, short black dress she wore didn’t leave much to the imagination.
“Don’t clean you up well.” She remarked as she approached him.
It took Marc a moment to acknowledge that she was speaking to him. He was a professional, but this wasn’t an impetuous princess before him. Dressed in earthly clothes, Sigyn was simply a knockout. He liked this version of her better. The golden helmet and cape and shimmering gown were unnecessary adornments to her beauty.
Jake and Steven immediately, simultaneously, demanded control of the body. It felt as if four fists were pounding on his skill from the inside. Marc didn’t blame them, but there was also no way in hell they were going to ruin the delicate connection he’d forged with Sigyn.
Who do you think you’re kidding? Jake scoffed. You want first dibs on fucking her.
Sigyn’s hand cautiously touched his arm, snapping Marc out of his thoughts.
“Marc? Can you hear me?” Her brow was furrowed in concern. The strappy heels she wore gave her the height advantage now.
“Yeah,” he said, “yes. Sorry.”
“Are you sure? We don’t have to do this.”
“No, I want to,” the words left Marc’s lips without permission. _Get it together Spector, _he thought, it’s like you’ve never seen a pair of tits before. He needed to backpedal. “I mean, we had a deal.”
Sigyn grinned. “Shall we then?”
The restaurant was dark and enveloping in its design - aubergine walls, low lighting, velvet seats. A singer and her small band occupied one of the corners; her sultry voice suited the ambiance of the establishment well as she serenaded its patrons.
Marc wasted no time ordering the most expensive champagne on the menu to spite S.W.O.R.D. Once the waiter departed from the table, he got right to it.
“So the godbutcher.”
A nervous laugh escaped Sigyn. She fidgeted, and even in the dim lighting, Marc could tell the princess was blushing. “In Asgard we usually wait for the first course before we discuss the matter at hand, Mister Spector.”
Marc readied a retort until he caught Sigyn's fingers unconsciously drifting to her left ring finger, as if to twirl a wedding band, only to remember a moment too late it was bare.
That’s when it occurred to him. She may be considered a goddess, but Sigyn was clearly a profoundly lonely woman. Not only had she been forsaken by her husband, as morally ambiguous as he was, she was on a strange planet in a completely different universe from hers with men in suits keeping her cooped up in a gilded cage. Why else would she not have escaped from the suite and insisted Marc dress up and take her dinner?
He understood how she felt. All too well. But before Sigyn’s plight could truly tug on his heartstrings, Marc shut it down. He could work with this. Sigyn wanted the boyfriend experience? Marc would give her the boyfriend experience and get what he needed.
Better give me the body, Steven entreated, only his eyes visible on the thin blade of Marc’s butterknife. You’re a bit too gruff to deliver the boyfriend experience, aren't you?
“Shut up,” Marc whispered.
Sigyn had heard. “Beg your pardon?”
“Nothing,” he covered. “And I’m sorry your highness, you’re right, it was inappropriate of me to ask you right away.”
“I shouldn’t expect a Midgardian to observe the customs of a realm to which he’s never been,” she admitted. “Please call me Sigyn.”
Marc smiled a wolfish grin. He was in.
“Nevertheless, I wish to know more about my enigmatic sentry.”
“Not much to know,” Marc deflected. His response was an automatic defense mechanism. Don’t let anyone get close, or let them learn anything they could use against him. Yet he knew he needed to give Sigyn something if he was going to coax anything useful out of her. “From Chicago, that’s in America. Do you know America? It’s um, across the-”
“I’ve heard of America,” she reassured him.
“Served in the military which led me to mercenary work which led me into the service of Khonshu.” There. That was something.
Sigyn giggled as their waiter brought their champagne. “You say it with such simplicity.”
“Yeah well, something tells me you’re a lot more interesting,” Marc countered.
“Is that so?”
“You’re very different with me than you were with your brother and S.W.O.R.D.” he remarked.
“Because you don’t look at me with pity,” Sigyn explained. “In their eyes I’m the silly, stupid woman who married the evil god because she didn’t know any better. Whereas they all saw this coming lightyears away apparently, and regard me as if I didn’t know my husband after centuries of marriage.”
“I get it,” Marc told her, making sure to catch her gaze. “I really do.”
Sigyn didn’t know what or how to ask about Marc’s…condition, so she stayed silent and took a sip of her champagne instead.
Marc followed her line of sight to the band. A few couples had taken to the small dance floor in front of the musicians. Sigyn watched them with equal parts wonder and wistfulness.
“Do you dance on Asgard?”
“Yes but not like this,” Sigyn kept her eyes on the dancers. “Here it looks to be about two people merely being close to each other. On Asgard, it’s much more formal, impersonal even. The first time I met Loki he asked me to dance.”
“Did he?”
“I could hardly believe it.”
“Why?” When Sigyn looked at Marc in confusion, he elaborated, “Have you looked in a mirror lately?”
Sigyn flushed, a mix of the alcohol and the compliment.
“My entire childhood, my mother’s complete focus was getting Thor to wed my elder sister. Which if I’m honest, I learned not to mind, since it meant I could do what I like, court who I wanted. But the shock on her face when she discovered that a prince had asked little Sigyn to dance instead of her prized Astrid,” her expression darkened, “It’s probably why I stayed with him after the shock at the wedding.’
“What do you mean?”
“The night Loki danced with me I was already betrothed to a friend of my brothers’, a fellow Crimson Hawk. Theoric. We were madly in love and Loki could see that. So he arranged for Theo to be killed in battle and posed as him. Odin married us, and it was only after we had sealed our vows that he revealed who I had actually pledged eternity to.”
“Fuck” was all Marc could muster in response. Sigyn sent him a wan smile.
“Odin was enraged, marriage was binding but no one ought to be wed under false pretenses. So he offered me the goddess of fidelity. And I suppose because of all the resentment I harbored for my mother, I accepted. Yet I grew to love it - both my husband and my role. Odin and Frigga had begun to send me on my own diplomatic envoys before…” she swallowed the lump in her throat before continuing, “before all of this happened.”
“I’m sorry.”
Sigyn blinked away a tear. “Tremendous. Now you pity me too.”
“I never said that.”
Sigyn took another sip of her champagne. The band began a new song, the bass and strings made for an enticing mix.
“Dance with me,” Marc said.
“Don’t trouble yourself.”
“Sigyn.”
“I don’t wish to anymore.”
Marc stood. Reached out his hand.
“Stand up.“ It wasn’t a request. At last, Sigyn obeyed.
Who knew her highness is just as good at taking orders as she is giving them, Jake noted as Marc led them to join the few couples already dancing.
Somewhere in the middle
Think I lied a little
Sigyn was a quick study as to where to place her hands, fighting to ensure that her face wouldn't betray just how good it felt to grip Marc’s hard but warm flesh under her hands, and the two were sidestepping together in no time.
“Thank you,” she whispered.
I know that I seem a little stressed out
But you’re here now
And you’re turning me on
Marc ignored how intoxicating Sigyn’s closeness was and focused on how to get more information out of her. It was clear she was feeling vulnerable, he needed to meet her where she was at.
“I got divorced. Recently.”
Sigyn’s eyes found Marc’s, open and compassionate. “I’m so sorry.”
“Not your fault,” he shrugged, “but know I do get what you’re going through.”
Put my mind at ease
Pretty please
“At least with my ex-wi—with Layla, things were pretty cut and dry as to why. I couldn’t be there for her, I couldn’t protect her, now she’s mixed up in the same shit as I am” Marc shared. “But what I can’t figure out is why Loki would leave you to team up with someone who wants you all dead.”
“Because he wants a throne,” Sigyn answered simply. “He’s always wanted a realm of his own to rule over. I suppose he believes allying himself with Gorr will not merely dispose of Thor but all deities who would challenge him.”
“But Gorr would kill him-“
“Not if Loki double-crosses him first,” Sigyn pointed out.
She knows how he thinks, Marc noted to himself, the song’s dulcet melody filling the silence.
If we take it further I swear I ain’t gonna break
So baby come try me
“But what do I know? Things had been comfortable, content between us. This could just as easily be his latest and arguably his grandest act of self-sabotage,” Sigyn mused. “A subject you seem well-acquainted with, no?”
“Dinner, dancing, and head-shrinking? You really know how to show a guy a good time, your highness.”
“Tell me Marc, did Layla ever say she required your protection?”
He bristled, refusing to reply.
“I don’t know her—“
“Yeah, you don’t.”
“But I’d venture that Layla, if she married you, hardly wanted, let alone needed, your protection.”
Marc’s grip tightened on Sigyn’s waist but he said nothing. They continued to dance in silence as the band moved into a new song.
Too much time, losing track of us
Where was the real?
“Did it ever occur to you that maybe Loki left you to protect you from what he felt he had to do?”
“A noble thought.” The same pained smile spread across Sigyn’s lips. “But you don’t know my husband.”
“I don’t,” he conceded, “but if our paths cross, I’ll be sure to kick his ass.”
“By all means. If there’s anything left after I’m finished with him, that is.”
Marc laughed, instinctively holding Sigyn closer, their lips millimeters apart. The air seemed to crackle around them.
Is it just our bodies?
Are we both losing our minds?
Instead of bringing his mouth to hers, Marc turned his face to murmur into Sigyn’s ear. “How about we get out of here?”
She shook her head. “Take me upstairs.”
Is the only reason you’re holding me tonight ‘cause we’re scared to be lonely?
Marc didn’t need to be told twice. As soon as the song came to an end, he escorted Sigyn off of the dance floor and out of the restaurant. With the way the waitstaff was fawning over the princess, he figured they’d know to put their meal on S.W.O.R.D.’s tab.
They crossed the expansive lobby with Marc’s arm around Sigyn’s waist, but not daring to do anything more. The wait for the elevator was excruciating, he could already feel himself beginning to grow hard, but all bets were off when the larger metallic doors closed behind them.
Their lips crashed together with a surprising amount of force, finally no longer denying their desire for each other. Sigyn’s hands gripped either side of Marc’s face, while his hands found purchase on her hips, walking her blindly back into the wall of the elevator, pressing his hard-on against her.
A throaty moan escaped Sigyn’s mouth in between harsh, hungry kisses when she felt Marc’s erection against her hip. She grinded against him, savoring the friction, detaching their lips to whisper, “Is that all for me, Moon Knight?”
He mouthed at her neck, encircling each of her wrists in his hands, pinning them to the wall, “Shut up.”
Sigyn acquiesced with a giggle that suddenly morphed in a moan when Marc bit down on the juncture of her neck and shoulder.
The elevator doors opened to their floor with a high chime. The pair stumbled out and disconnected, Marc adjusting his jacket to try and hide his boner while Sigyn smoothed out her dress, both aware that there were still two guards posted at the other end of the hallway outside the suite.
“Your highness,” they greeted them, opening the door for Sigyn and Marc.
She smiled and acknowledged the guards with a nod, hoping her eyes telegraphed Sigyn’s gratitude for not commenting on their appearances.
As soon as the door closed behind them in the suite, the two launched themselves at each other once more. This time Marc’s hands went straight under the hem of Sigyn’s dress to her ass and lifted the princess into his arms.
“I should fuck you against the door so they can hear,” Marc growled.
“Naughty,” Sigyn played with the hair at the nape of his neck, “spread me out on the bed first.”
Marc obliged, carrying her into the bedroom, and depositing Sigyn on the bed with a toss. She laid back amongst the pillows, separating her legs to give Marc a glimpse of the scrap of black lace covering her as he stripped off his shirt and toed off his loafers.
“Turn around,” he ordered.
Sigyn did so, and Marc unzipped her dress and slid it down her shoulders, kissing every newly exposed notch of her back as he went. He slipped off her stilettos and pushed the black fabric down her hips, Marc’s mouth watering when Sigyn’s full, toned ass came into view. He snapped the strap of her flimsy thong against her golden skin, earning a shiver from Sigyn.
“This ass,” he groaned as he pulled Sigyn’s back flush with his front. Marc snaked his hands up her taut abdomen, then cupped her breasts in his large hands.
“Marc,” she mewled as he resumed his attack on her neck.
He teased her nipples, pinching them. “What do you want?”
She answered him by slithering out of his grasp and twisting back around on the bed, sitting back on her heels. Sigyn’s hands went straight to Marc’s belt, undoing the strip of leather and unzipping his fly. She reached inside, taking his massive, insistent bulge in hand through Marc’s boxer-briefs, squeezing him through the fabric.
“Fuck,” he grunted.
Sigyn withdrew only to pull his pants and underwear down, Marc aiding her and by kicking them off. He stood before her in all of his glory, and a wicked, satisfied glint flashed in Sigyn’s eyes when she was able to take in Marc’s member without any obstruction. She bit her lip unconsciously - he was uncut and thick. An errant thought danced through her mind —she owed her sort-of brother-in-law an apology and her heartiest gratitude for pairing them together.
Concentrating back on the task before her, Sigyn pumped Marc a few times, climbed off the bed, and knelt before him. She brought her lips to his head tracing the shape of her mouth before laving kitten licks up his length.
Marc gazed down at Sigyn through hooded lids as his cock slipped between her lips and she bobbed up and down. He rested a hand on the back of Sigyn's head, guiding her eager mouth along the length of his dick. Shit she was good at this.
Well, she is a thousand-year-old goddess, Steven pointed out, probably had loads of time to practice.
The last thing Marc wanted to do was think about Sigyn with another man, the thought prompted him to begin thrusting into the warm, wet suction of the princess’s mouth. She moaned.
C’mon, fuck her mouth, Jake urged in Steven’s absence.
As if she could read their thoughts, Sigyn grasped onto the globes of Marc’s ass and pulled him deeper. His eyes rolled back in his head as she proceeded to deep throat him. Did Asgardians not have gag reflexes?
Marc could feel his orgasm creeping up on him. He pulled himself from between Sigyn’s plush lips, but the princess looking up at him with her wide sapphire orbs and glistening pout was nearly enough to undo Marc.
“Wanna come in your pussy,” he offered as an explanation, lifting Sigyn to her feet and pushing back onto the bed again. This time, he covered her body with his, Marc’s hand slipping down to her underwear, toying with Sigyn’s clit through the lace.
She let out a breathy cry, both relieved and riled up that her core was getting some much-needed attention. Marc’s dexterous fingers continued playing with her while another slipped between her folds, earning another keen from the princess. He proceeded to rip the thong clean off her body and redouble his efforts by thrusting two fingers inside of Sigyn. She canted her hips to meet his strokes, just as hungry for this as he was.
“Sigyn,” he murmured.
“Hgggnnn,” came her incredibly coherent reply.
“We need protection.”
Her eyes popped open, her brow creasing. “From what?”
“Sexually transmitted diseases,” he explained, “and pregnancy.”
“Our kind can’t contract any diseases from yours,” she panted. Marc hadn’t ceased his ministrations and hit a particularly delectable spot inside of her. “And I take a – um, tincture. F-f-for contraception.”
His thumb drew circles around her clit. “Fuck me already, Marc,” she demanded.
Marc was all too eager to acquiesce. He withdrew his fingers from Sigyn, inserting them into her eager mouth while he lined himself up with her dripping core. Sigyn licked Marc’s digits clean, treating him to more insistent, needy moans as he ran the head of his cock through her wetness.
At last Marc sank into Sigyn’s tight cunt. She felt just as heavenly as he’d imagined she would, her walls clinging to his shaft in a vice-like grip, encouraging him to sheath himself further.
As Marc pulled out to thrust back in deeper, Sigyn wrapped an arm around his neck and brought their mouths together once again. They collided in a mess of teeth and tongues, Sigyn breaking the liplock only when Marc picked up the pace of his hips, her neck thrashing to the side.
It felt as though Marc was consuming her, spearing her apart with his thick girth, and she loved it. What they shared felt more primal than her lovemaking with Loki had been as of late. Sex was a tactic or carefully calculated move in the chess game that her marriage had become, with Marc it seemed that they needed each other equally as badly, and for the same reason. To forget someone else.
And with a face like that and the way Marc pistoned his fat cock into her, Sigyn had no problem with forgetting everything except the stretch in her pussy, Marc’s dark, unflinching gaze, and the pair of bulging biceps that held her wrists above her head.
“You’re so strong,” Sigyn exhaled.
Marc grunted a reply, continuing to hammer into her.
“But so am I,” Sigyn smirked as broke free of his grasp, flipping them over so she was on top. She canted her hips and pinned Marc’s wrists just as he had hers, a devilish grin playing across her kiss-bruised lips.
Despite the hot thrill that raced down Marc’s spine at having a partner who could match his strength and the view of Sigyn’s tits bouncing in time with his thrusts, he wasn’t going to let her get away with it.
“Oh no you don’t,” Marc rolled them over again, splaying Sigyn back on the bed. He hooked the backs of her knees in the bends of his elbows to spread her legs wider and pounded in deeper.
Sigyn threw her head back against the bed’s downy comforter. “Norns, Marc, yes.”
But Marc was unable to shake the idea of fucking the Asgardian against the wall. He collected her in his arms and carried her to the wall opposite the bed. Sigyn’s breath hitched when Marc re-entered her and resumed his punishing pace. She clenched around him even harder, relishing the contrast between the rigid, polished wood paneling at her back and Marc’s searing flesh, damp with sweat, pressing into her front.
Marc was unrelenting in his assault on Sigyn’s pussy, driving his hips into her, earning a hybrid of a moan and shriek when the tip of his cock found her g-spot. He focused there with his thrusts, swallowing Sigyn’s cries and moans as he impaled her. Though initially Marc has wanted the guards to hear just how well he was fucking her royal highness, he’d changed his mind. Now he wanted all of Sigyn’s sweet little sounds for himself.
Particularly sweet was the sound of slick slap on skin-on-skin from where they were joined. “Do you hear that?” Marc asked her, his voice gravel. It sent another shudder through Sigyn. “You’re so wet for me baby, you gonna come on my cock?”
Sigyn pulled Marc closer to her, digging her manicured nails into the thick muscles of his traps. “Make me.”
The Asgardian’s challenge spurred Marc to redouble his efforts, holding Sigyn up with his pistoning hips and only one arm, the other shooting straight down to her clit. He rubbed rough, persistent circles into the nub, prompting Sigyn’s cunt to clench around him so tightly he could barely thrust.
Marc didn’t mind though, he ground his hips into hers and continued his stream of filthy goading, “You like that? ‘Cause I love the way your tight cunt is squeezing me. Come on, cream on my cock baby.”
Sigyn snapped with a loud, unprincess-like wail as she came, her pussy spasming around Marc’s hot length inside her. Her orgasm rushed like a roaring flame through her veins, her nails digging so deep into Marc’s shoulders she nearly drew blood. Marc didn’t stop grinding his dick into her core as Sigyn came, prolonging her release as he chased his. She didn’t know how long it took for the blinding euphoria to settle, but when Sigyn regained coherence Marc was still frantically fucking into her.
Despite the oversensitivity beginning to set into her groin, Sigyn tightened around his pulsing dick again and urged him on, “Marc, wanna feel you.”
That did it - not a moment later was Marc painting her walls with his hot seed. He slammed his free hand against the wall and his chest vibrated with a deep groan as he emptied himself inside of Sigyn, the climax so good he could forget about Khonshu, his divorce, and the impending threat of the Godbutcher, if only for a moment.
Marc gathered the remains of his strength and walked them back over to the bed, his softening cock still inside Sigyn. This time he lay her on the now mussed duvet much more gingerly, and extracted himself from her just as carefully.
They lay beside each other, looking into each other’s eyes for the right thing to say. This was so not how Marc thought tonight would go when he got the call from Agent Woo, but he was not complaining.
Marc spoke first. “How do you feel?”
Sigyn smiled - not an imperious smirk, nor the grin she used to mask her pain when talking about Loki. A genuine, unguarded smile. “Very good.”
“Just very good?” Marc scoffed with mock offense.
“Very very good,” Sigyn assured him with a kiss. “Wonderful, even. Are you alright?”
“Yeah,” Marc found it too easy to get lost in Sigyn’s eyes. “I am famished, though.”
“You did work up quite the appetite, Mister Spector,” Sigyn remarked. She sat up, pushing herself off of the bed. “Order us something, I’m going to clean up.”
What a gentleman you are, Steven fumed, leaving her to fend for herself as soon as you’re finished.
Marc sat up as well, eschewing firing back at Steven that he barely wasn’t a virgin anymore, and grabbed Sigyn’s wrist as she headed toward the en-suite. “I can get you–”
“It’s no trouble,” she told him. She gestured to her now thoroughly wrecked updo. “Besides I should tend to this.”
“Wait, let me…” Marc slid his fingertip along the inside of Sigyn’s thigh where his release had trickled out of her. She bent over obediently and sucked it clean, making Marc’s spent cock twitch in a valiant attempt to harden again so soon.
He enjoyed the view of the naked princess traipsing into the bathroom, then grabbed the in-room phone.

"Excuse me, Miss Romanoff have you seen the Weasley twins?"Umbrige asked sweetly, considering she's been trying to get back on my good side for the past week and a half.
"Sorry, haven't seen them since the last time I saw them." I said with a smile before taking a drink on my hot chocolate and looking down at my phone when I saw Steve got another word.
"And when was that?"Umbrigde asked confused.
"When was what?"I asked with mock confusion as I looked up at her.
"The last time you saw them of course."Umbrige said becoming slightly irritated.
"Saw who?" I asked innocently.
"Fred and George Weasley."Umbrige said firmly an I pretended to think about it for a moment. Like I didn't see them walk past me with Ron and Draco five minutes ago, carrying empty glitter containers and prank kits.
"Can't say those names ring any bells I'm afraid. However if you're looking for the Weasley twins they went that way." I mumbled looking down at my phone.
"Which way? Left or right?"Umbrigde asked frantically looking around.
"I don't know, that's what I'm asking you. Right or wrong? Up or down, you know? Do you think I'll grow more, I've recently become very insecure about my height. I feel like I'm not tall enough? But what if I'm too tall? I'm 5'9 but that could mean anything. Did you know brown cows don't make chocolate milk? Do you think the sky knows it's blue? Why do people have limbs? I'll tell you why, because of evaluation! Not to be confused with revolutions because those are bad. Speaking of revolutions, have you ever owned a unicorn? I've been thinking of starting a butterfly farm but I can't because I won't have time to take them for walks everyday. Do you think cats know that they're cat-" I asked rambling various nonsense questions with a look of concern painted on my face.
"That's enough! I'll find them myself!" Umbrigde yelled cutting me off.

Rise of the Titans
Chapter One

Goddess!OC x Loki

Arali jumps out of bed, eager to start the day, not that she had been able to sleep anyways. You see, every few years the Asgardian Royal Family would come to Olympus to visit and today happened to be one of those times. Honestly, she had grown a bit tired of her older brothers and sisters, seeing as she was the youngest by a few thousand years, so she was excited to play with someone her own age once more.
She dresses in her finest white chiton with a blush colored cloth pinned above her right shoulder and draped over her body. She twirls in the mirror, then zips out of her room, speeding down the hallways of the large castle to find her mother. Turns out, the Asgardians had arrived early, as they were already standing in the throne room. They were being greeted by her mother and big brother, Cronus, both in front of the throne with a smile.
Her mother was always very welcoming, treating everyone she met with kindness as if they were her own. Cronus however, let’s just say Arali tried to avoid him at all costs, much like the rest of the kingdom. She loved her brother, but felt there was something off about him. Something she couldn’t quite put her finger on.
She sneaks in unnoticed and hides herself behind one of the giant, white columns in the room. She peeks out to look at the two young children standing beside the guests, both seeming to grow impatient as their parents converse politics and such.
The Asgardian monarch, Queen Frigga, glances towards Arali. She smiles warmly, and raises her hand to wave at the child. Her presence was always so dear to Arali, seeing her almost as a second mother. She waves back, shy that she had been seen. Frigga’s movement is noticed by Gaia. The two of them share a glance, before Frigga excuses her two boys, whispering something to them. They look around confused before making eye contact with the young goddess behind the pillar. Their eyes light up, and the three run enthusiastically towards the exit of the throne room together.
It wasn’t long before the news of the Asgardians’ arrival traveled throughout the kingdom, which in turn, brought a handful of the other children among the royal court to the halls in search of the new princes. The three of them were found quickly, which Thor didn’t mind one bit, for he rather enjoyed the attention. Eventually, they all made their way outside to the gardens, hoping to play many rounds of games.
Thor began to show the group his strength and sporty tricks, all of which seemed to gawk at the boy’s power and charisma. Arali watches Loki roll his eyes and sit on a nearby tree stump. She looks back at Thor, before deciding she would rather join his younger brother. She may have been of a higher status than the other kids, but she was still the youngest, and therefore, always left out, just as Loki was. She sits next to him on the stump, swinging her legs in excitement. Hoping that he would start the conversation for her, she turns to face him with a smile, staring at him until he gets the idea.
Surrendering to her attention, he greets her timidly with a sigh in his voice, “Hello, Arali.” His eyes filled deep with boredom.
She waves at him with great keenness.
“How about a game of Kubb?” The blond Asgardian boy suggests loudly to everyone.
Arali leans over to Loki, “I prefer beating you at Ephedrismos.”
He rolls his eyes at her comment. “That is a game for girls. I am not playing that.”
She shrugs her shoulders with a short laugh. “No wonder you can never win.” They stick out their tongue to one another, teasingly, as she pokes fun at the young prince.
“Kubb it is! The tallest team gets to go first!” Thor yells running to take his place with great pride, knowing very well that he is the tallest.
Arali raises her hand up to her head, measuring her height, then puts it above Loki’s. “I’m taller than you~” she says with a snicker. He rolls his eyes and crosses his arms with a huff.
++++
“Mama, I want powers too! I’m just as strong as Loki and Thor, but they don’t believe me!”
The goddess mother kneels to take her daughter's tiny hand within her own. “Calm, little princess. All my powers will one day be passed down to you. You will get your powers when you are ready.”
“But I want them now!”
Another voice chimes in, “Perhaps with patience, they will come to you naturally.” Frigga walks into the room, causing the child’s face to brighten with excitement.
Arali wiggles her toes impatiently, “I cannot wait to get my powers! I don’t want to be like the mortals anymore.” She grimaces.
The goddess mother scoops up her child, placing her in her lap on the bed. “You see Arali, over 10,000 years ago, I was born on a planet called Gaia. That is where I got my name. The people there did not like me very much. They thought I was… odd for being born with powers, but eventually I came to make friends. Every 5,000 years the planets align with one another, creating portals between the worlds. This is called the Convergence. My husband, Ouranos, and I, and a number of our friends, accidentally stepped through one of these portals, getting lost on this planet. As we settled on Olympia, we began changing. We discovered a fruit; whose juices slowed our aging, until one day we ceased to age at all. You may be a goddess and a Titan, little one, but never forget deep down you are of Gaia. You may be powerful and strong, but you are as much a human as the mortals. Use your strength to protect them, but do not put yourself above them.”
Arali lowers her head, ashamed she has upset her mother. Gaia tucks an orange strand of her child’s hair behind her ear. “It is quite alright, Arali. Just remember to speak kindly of the mortals.”
She nods, her smile returning to her face. “Okay. Can I go now?” Gaia nods with a laugh, letting her jump off of her lap.
The child follows Frigga out into the courtyard where the other children play.
“Mama tells me one day I am going to be Queen,” Arali gloats to the older woman.
The Allmother laughs at her confidence. “That is the day Loki will become King, as well.” As if on cue, the boy slows his jog as he approaches his mother. Confused upon hearing his name, he intends to find out what the two are talking about.
“What do you mean?” Arali questions.
Frigga bends down, extending her arms for the two children to come closer to her. “It means the two of you are promised to each other.”
Confused on how he got brought into the conversation, Loki asks, “What does that mean?”
“Once you have become adults, you will be married to each other, officially uniting your kingdoms.”
The children look to each other in disgust “Ew!” They shout.
“I am not marrying her.” “I am not marrying him either!” The children dispute.
“You will become king and queen if you do.” The current Queen suggests to them.
Loki and Arali look at each other, then back at Frigga with smiles before he adds, “Well, maybe you’re not so bad.” Aralia glares and crosses her arms at this.
++++
“Can you read to me, mama?” Her mother nods, already knowing which book to bring with her to her daughter’s bed. She sits, allowing the ball of orange curls to snuggle into her abdomen. She opens the book to the marked page, but before she can open her mouth to read she is interrupted.
“Who is Aphrodite?” Arali whispers from beneath her blankets.
Gaia sets the book down into her lap, keeping a thumb in between the pages as the cover closes on its own. “Now, where did you hear this name from?”
Arali’s eyes quickly shift down to look at the quilt she was covered with. “I heard Hyperion talking about her with the others”
Her mother lets out a breath. “Aphrodite is The Goddess of Love. She is the daughter of Ouranos.” She explains.
“Are you her mom too?” Arali looks up at her mother with her big round eyes.
Gaia shifts uncomfortably, wondering how to explain the situation, “No, she is like you; She only has one parent, created through very powerful magic. But, you could see her as your sister in a way.” Luckily, Arali does not ponder any further than that. Instead, she shrugs curling even further into her wool blankets. Gaia re-opens the book to read, just like she does every night.
++++
There were a few special occasions when Gaia would bring her daughter to visit the kingdom of Asgard. While she and Frigga discussed future plans, Arali would run off with her two princely friends.
Thor was ecstatic to introduce her to his friends back at home. Sif, Volstagg, Fandral, and Hogun, were happy to meet her, but once introductions were through, she was stuck behind with Loki, as usual. Not that she minded.
“Let’s go on an adventure!” Arali whispers to Loki.
As Loki slowly begins to accept her company, it becomes routine for the two to go adventuring while the rest of the children are busy with his older brother. They adored making quests for themselves and setting out to discover all that nature has to offer to them.
He smiles before taking her hand, dragging her behind him and away from the group. About a minute or two into walking, they come across a beautiful spring. Water cascades down the many large rocks that rise just below the surface of the forest, falling into the water below with a soft showering sound.
Arali stands in awe at the view in front of her, giggling as she continues to hold the boy’s hand. They freeze as they hear a noise in the near distance. They soon come to realize it is Frigga calling out for them. “Race you!” Running back out the forest, they meet with the rest of the group.
“Could you tell us a story, mother?”
“Oh! Tell the one about the Dark Elves!”
“Or the Frost Giants!”
++++
Arali, Thor, Loki, and a handful of the children of the court are out exploring once more. Thor, the group’s designated leader, decided it would be fun to explore one of the vast forests of Olympia. As they make their way through the many trees and grasses they come to a clearing. In the open area sits a collection of boulders, which the children rush to rest upon.
Arali, of course, with Loki. The two share a boulder, watching the others play. Giggles suddenly  escape Loki’s throat. Confused, Anesia turns to examine her friend, insisting to discover what was so funny.
Loki leans to whisper to her, “Watch this.”
And with that, he had disappeared. She twists in her spot, looking for the boy, but he is nowhere to be found. That is, until she heard the others screaming. Quickly, she looks to find out the problem. The others are backing away from Thor in fear.
“No need to be afraid, my friends. It is just a little snake. See? Aren’t they amazing?” He crouches down, grabbing the snake, holding it out to admire it. One of the children steps closer, feeling more brave now that they see Thor playing with the thing unharmed. But, soon more screeches follow as a green shimmer of light wraps around the snake, and in the blink of an eye Loki stands in its place.
“Ha! It’s me!” he yells, jabbing Thor with a twig.
Thor yelps falling to the ground. “Loki!”
Loki laughs at his clever prank, but his smile grows even more seeing his red headed companion holding her sides with laughter.
++++
“You like my brother? Haha! Loki! Come here! I have news!” The blond jumps in excitement, waving his hands to catch his brother’s attention.
Arali runs back over to Thor, jumping to catch his arms. “Shut up, Thor!” But it does her no good, the raven haired boy is already running over to examine the situation. She pushes him to the ground, raising a fist above his head. “You promised you would not say anything!”
Thor screams, raising his hands to shield himself, as the young girl attempts to shove his hands away.
Loki approaches the scene laughing with a wide smile on his face. “Hit him again! Haha! ”
She spins to Loki, embarrassment still coursing through her.  “And you are next!”
The boy is caught off guard by her sudden hostility towards him, but that is soon replaced with smugness. “Oh really? Then try and find me!” And with that, the boy uses his magic to duplicate himself, surrounding the two that were still on the ground.
“Brother, not this again.” Thor mumbles, as Arali climbs off of him,  determined to see through Loki’s illusions. She would finally prove that she was just as smart and powerful as the two of them. She looks around her, looking for any small glitch in his magic. Some illusions are transparent, others have delayed reactions. Then she finds the one. She runs to him, pretending to prepare an attack, which he responds to with wide eyes, dispelling the rest of the illusions quickly. As she approaches, she loses her footing, sending both of them crashing down onto the grass.
She giggles. “Found you.”

Renegade: part 22
Roman reigns x Scarlet (OC)
Tumblr media
Warnings: angst, errors I may have missed. If you're new to this story I use their real names. It just fit better to me🤷
Also if you're new Roman is a gargoyle along with Jimmy and Jey, drew is a lycan (werewolf), sami is bigfoot. Hopefully when you read this that helps make it make a little more sense. Cryptids are one of my special interests so I used it to my advantage.
Tag list: @angelreigns444 @acknowledge-reigns @mindfulofmani @mandeelemons @niknakbucks92 @queengreenarrowmia89 @weirdgirl16355 @windhamsrotunda @tribalchiefreigns @wrestlezaynia @cherrytheeredheadmamaclaymore

"Hades WTF are you here?" Joe yelled, his fists still cleanched.
"It would seem you're still not over perspheone... Tsk tsk!" Hades shook his head.
"Wait Hades? As in the Greek god of the underworld Hades?" I asked looking at Joe "and who's Persephone?"
"You haven't told her?" Hades grinned wickedly
"Keep your mouth shut Hades! You've already done enough damage! You still havent answered my question! Why are you even here?" Joe said through grinted teeth.
"Joe... What's going on?" I asked.
Joe sighed heavily "Scarlet, please go! I'll explain later but you have to go!"
"I don't know what you're playing at Joe but-" a loud crash cut me off along with the sound of grunting noises "Rami!" I whispered.
A low growl from another direction "leave them alone Hades!" Drew yelled jumlijg in front of me and Joe "he's not here by coincidence" Drew said "Jonathon sent him here just like he sent the nuckalavee after the 2 of you!"
"Oh you've got to go!" Hades yelled changing into his true form and coming after me, only for Joe to charge at him and knock him to the ground "where's Josh?" Joe asked.
"We haven't heard from him in a while! I've been trying to get a hold of him but nothing" Rami shrugged before looking at Joe confused "why didnt you change into your gargoyle form?"
A smirk formed on Joe's face "I'm not Joe!"
My heart started pounding "Loki?" I said
"Hello scarlet!" Loki smirked at me "yes I'm Loki but I've only temporarily taken over Joe. He's still here"
"Only a god can kill another god!" I said
"You won't kill me Loki!" Hades said finally getting up "I have the entire underworld to go through before you'll find my string"
"Hades.... I don't need to go to the underworld" Loki smirked "you're gonna take me there"
Hades laughed hysterically "no I'm not" his smile suddenly faded when he realized a deep glowing light had started to come up from around him, it was the gateway to the underworld. The river Styx was just below him. I handed Loki a coin "please leave Joe! I need him here!"
A soft green mist left Joe's body before entering Hades "a god in a god" Loki smirked "I'll return shortly"
While I would've fallen to the ground Joe simply staggered a few steps and regained his composure before looking at me "we have a lot to talk about! Come on hop on my back and we'll head home!" He said softly "I trust you 2 can handle it from here for now until Loki gets back?"
Rami and Drew nodded their heads in unison as I climbed on Joe's back "I've missed this" he smiled before flying away "I love feeling against me when I fly!"
The sun was setting and a beautiful pink hue covered the sky. I think it was time we had some time to ourselves again.

Worthy (2015) | Chapter 2, "If She Be Worthy"
Disappearing sporadically in public spaces quickly becomes Cora Dempsey's least concerning problem when suddenly she captures the attention of the forming Avengers Initiative, the World Security Council, and Asgard's fallen prince all in one week. And the universe is only just getting started with her.
Worthy is a slow-burn SFW Marvelverse (films) romance between Loki and a female OC. For additional details on what canon is used, see the Prologue post.
Tumblr media
Summary: We meet Cora and so do Tony, Steve Rogers, and Clint. The three combine efforts with a remote Thor, Erik Selvig, and Coulson to chase her down. Something unexpected happens and arguably the worst person to witness it is there to see it unfold.
Pairing: Loki x Fem!OC
Warnings: Superhero movie levels of action with a chase scene; briefest mention of a past abusive relationship by the fem!OC
Word Count: 3k
Tumblr media
Cora sniffed a little as she peered up at the diner menu, light circles beneath her midnight blue eyes and her mouth a thin line with lips pursed by indecision. She listened to the bustle around her, for the first time in her life drawing comfort from a crowd as she tried to breathe evenly and not reflexively throw glances over her shoulder.
She'd skipped town at last, heading back across the country toward her west coast roots, if only to give those strange suits the slip. The smaller one with the balding head and charming smile, who'd introduced himself first as Agent Coulson and then as Phil, had seemed nice enough, but after what had happened in Central Park and the Broadway subway terminal, she knew no one with a badge was on her side. It had become increasingly apparent with the UFO crashes and the weird demolition in New Mexico that anything deemed "out of the ordinary" would be dealt with immediately on a level of confidential severity. And she had a feeling she wasn't prepared for that.
She sighed a little when someone butted in front of her in line, but figured there wasn't much point in fussing about it right now; she didn't even know what to get. Potentially running for her life and she couldn't even pick something off a breakfast menu. One of the employees at the counter asked for probably the third time if she was ready to order and she finally caved and asked for two bagels, toasted, with a few cream cheese packets tossed in the bag.
Five minutes or so later, she sat on the curb outside in the blistering Arizonian heat, slathering half-melted cream cheese on one of the bagel halves, her mouth watering a little. She was starving and tired. She'd been barely sleeping in her car for the past few days when she hadn't been driving nonstop, living out of a suitcase and a cooler she'd only managed to throw a few things in before hightailing it out of the place she'd only just started to welcome as a new home.
Cora took a bite of her bagel and while she was terrified of the authorities along with her newfound handicap of sorts, she was pretty angry about the whole thing, too. It would figure that getting a job—a great job, at that—just one year after graduating university would warrant something catastrophic to take place in her path. She wondered if Lacey, her roommate, was wondering at all where she was or just taking the disappearance as an opportunity for her sleazy boyfriend to stay over without Cora bullying him out at one in the morning.
She worked on another bagel half and glanced down at herself, making sure she was still in full form though she knew fully well she would be. It had only seemed to happen when she was in danger, or perceived danger; she'd seen an…unfavorable ex of a few years past in Central Park and a man had tried to pull her purse away from her when she was getting on the subway.
Cora nibbled her lip and murmured quietly, "Can't I feel stable for just one day without something kicking me off course?"
The answer, as the world had proclaimed time and time again, was no. She couldn't.
Cora took a sip of her soda once she'd finished her breakfast, in the process of getting up when a slightly peculiar group down the street caught her attention. They were like service bars in height, the shortest looking cocky and seeming to be mouthing off to the tallest one, who looked like some wonder boy out of a fashion ad or maybe some cliché millionaire's son. The one doing the big-talk wasn't necessarily short, but he looked about as tall as she was and he, admittedly, had a rather impressive beard…
Tumblr media
Down the way, Tony had snorted dismissively in Cora's general direction when he saw her. "She looks pretty solid and not-wavering to me. Go get her."
Steve Rogers gave an uncertain glance toward Clint, who shook his head. "Thought you were going to complete the mission, no problem, Iron Lung," he remarked before sobering a bit. "Nah. Not that easy. Anyone briefed you, Rogers?"
"Not really," Steve admitted with a small frown. "Is she a threat?"
"No, but she's not easy to get close to. We shouldn't get any nearer until we have a plan," Clint noted, pinching the bridge of his nose a little as he thought.
"Not like we can see her very well from here anyway," Tony complained, squinting against the sun. "You're sure it's her?"
"I can. And yeah, I'm sure."
"Oh, right. Bird eyes," Tony muttered with a flippant wave. He stretched his neck a little before saying in a professional tone, "JARVIS, the suit's ready and raring to go, yes?" In his ear, he heard the prim and proper robotic assistant's confirmation, but he was met with a look of disapproval from both parties. "What?"
"Don't call your suit. It'll freak her out."
Tony held out his hands with an indignant drop of the jaw. "The ladies love the suit."
"Not terrified ladies who are running for their lives," Steve argued with a sympathetic glance down the street toward the woman eating her breakfast curbside.
"Thought you weren't briefed."
"I didn't have to be to know that, I just had to watch the news."
"How long did it take you to get the TV to work?"
Steve started to retaliate a little just as Clint interrupted them. "Stop."
The two followed Clint's gaze and noticed their target had gotten to her feet and now had her hand poised over a trash can, her dark eyes directed at them. A full three seconds hadn't passed before she started walking off at a more hurried pace down the street.
Tumblr media
Cora clenched her jaw as she tried to hurry along without giving away that she'd realized what they were there for. More agents, she assumed, from the same organization that had knocked on her door one morning just two weeks ago. She recognized the brown-haired one with the focused eyes; he'd been outside her apartment building and she'd seen him from the window. Not on the sidewalk, but on the opposite complex's roof, watching.
She couldn't help the desperate way her speed inched her along, gradually upping the pace to her car. Cora dug around in her purse for the keys, cursing herself for just tossing them in there willy-nilly in the pursuit of foodstuffs earlier that morning. Finally her fingers grasped one of her keychains and she pulled the ring from her purse, selecting the right key as she hustled to the beat-up Honda, just hoping they'd stayed where they were and she was overreacting.
Cora let out a yelp when something shot past her and sank into the keyhole of her car door, stumbling back with wide eyes as she took in what the sleek object was: a long arrow made up entirely of some kind of metal…
"Ma'am?"
Cora whirled around, noting that Golden Boy was toward the front of the group, the other two tailing a bit and talking amongst themselves. The smaller one still seemed to be picking fights and the one next to him was holding the bow that must've loosed the arrow now piercing her poor car.
She looked back at the tall, cut blond man walking over, his hands raised with his palms facing out as a gesture of peace. There was a large circular object hitched to his back that looked somewhat like a shield, but she couldn't discern what it actually was. "It's okay, we're not here to hurt you. We just want to talk."
"Funny way of showing that," Cora murmured breathlessly as she reached down and tried to yank the arrow out of her door to no avail.
"Sorry about that," the bowman said, though he didn't sound very sorry.
"My name is Steve Rogers," the blonde tried again, offering up a smile that was even more charming than Agent Coulson's. "I'm on your side and no one here is going to hurt you, I promise."
"Unless you try to hurt us, of course," the short one noted bluntly, smiling briefly. "Tony Stark."
Cora's brow knitted slightly and she nodded. "Yeah, I thought I recognized you." Tony grinned gloatingly at Steve, who wasn't even looking at him. "What do you want?"
"To talk. As Steve said," the agent with the bow said without much emotion to his tone.
"I have a feeling that's not all," Cora noted, starting to step back a little when she decided they were getting too close.
"Probably not. But talking seems like a good start, right?" Tony reasoned, earning sour looks from both his allies. He blew out a gusty sigh at their disapproval before looking at her again. "You're not stupid. That's obvious. So don't act stupid; come with us and we'll figure out what's going on with you, okay?"
"I thought I told you to let me handle this," Steve pointed out perturbedly and, just as he turned to look at Tony, Cora took off like a bat out of hell.
He whirled back around in surprise before Clint sprinted past him with an exasperated, "Come on!" Steve and Tony glanced at each other before hurrying after Clint and Cora, who was keeping well ahead of them despite the heat and the terrain.
"Dammit, what am I thinking?!" Tony exclaimed breathlessly after a minute before shouting, "JARVIS!"
"Right away, sir," JARVIS replied immediately and, within a few minutes, pieces of Tony's armor began to catch up with them, collecting on his form until the suit was complete and he was able to kick off from the ground and rocket up ahead of Steve and Clint, siding up with Cora.
"You know, this isn't a great way to make allies," Tony admitted and he almost laughed at the disgruntled look on the girl's face when she looked over at him. "You're hurting our feelings, kid. Mostly Steve's because he already doesn't have any friends."
"Heard that!" Steve shouted as he used his superhuman body to catch up with them, leaving Clint to keep pace behind them. "Miss, really, we just want to—"
And then, suddenly, she was gone.
"Good job, Uncle Sam, you made her do the thing. What the hell is going on with my readings…"
Steve blinked at the space between them, not knowing quite what to do. "You talked to her longer than I did, Stark, if it's anyone's fault, it's—"
"What the hell are you two talking about, she's right there!" Clint shouted from behind them, seeming evermore aggravated by the way things were going.
Tony and Steve again looked between them, but there was nothing there and it was hard for Tony to focus on anything past the hyperactive error messages and flickering on the inside of his mask. "What are you talking about, Hawkeye?" Steve shouted behind them. "Where?"
"Right between—wait, no, she's gone for me now, too," he corrected himself, blinking widely ahead.
Cora wasn't gone, but she was booking it just about ten feet ahead of Tony and Steve now, using their confusion (which had consequently slowed them down a bit) to put some distance between them. She tried not to focus on what she was doing or even how she was doing it, just trying to let it happen long enough to get her away from them, even though she knew it was fruitless. Unless they stopped, she was done for.
Clint pressed a finger to the bug in his ear and shouted over Steve and Tony's deliberative argument ahead, "Barton to headquarters, does someone copy?"
"We copy you, Agent Barton, what's your position?" he heard Coulson say clearly through the speaker.
"Just outside of Clarkdale. Have you got Selvig in position to connect us to Asgard?"
"Affirmative. Hold on for just a moment." Clint waited, squinting against the sun. He saw a form waver slightly about fifteen feet ahead of Steve and Tony.
"Come on…," he murmured, trying to focus and keep track of the bare glimmer of a figure. Even with his eyes, she was near impossible to see.
He heard Coulson come back to his line just before he said, "Positions confirmed for both Selvig and Thor. Though it's uncertain whether or not he can make it through the wormhole."
"You're telling us this now?!" Clint grunted, earning some inquiring looks from Steve and Tony, who had quieted down to listen. "Keep your eyes ahead, watch for her!"
"I'm just reporting the facts, Clint. What's your order?"
Clint hesitated briefly before replying, "Open it. Open it now!"
It was a brief moment before he heard a crack through the sky, and then a rush of wind picked up around them, making it hard to breathe for a few seconds. The three looked up as a small maw opened, seeming to be already working hard to sustain itself while devouring itself in turn. Clint's gaze was the first to move back to where Cora should have been and she was there again, her confusion and distraction causing her to lose control a second time. "Steve, throw your shield!"
Steve looked ahead and saw Cora, too, starting to reach back for his shield before shaking his head. "Negative, I might hurt her!"
Clint started to reach back for one of his arrows, but didn't see a clear shot he could take that wouldn't likely result in injury for her also. He cursed before patching through to Coulson again. "Thor's the only one who can lift his hammer, right?" he asked, waiting for Coulson to confirm what he already knew.
"Affirmative. Didn't get that impression from New Mexico?"
"Just making sure," Clint gritted. "If he can't come through, have him hurl the hammer. Do you have a way to tell him that?"
"He can probably hear you right now. The gatekeeper regulating the Asgardian end seems to be very in tune with the universe, including us."
"I can't decide whether or not that's comforting…" Clint glanced up warily at the wormhole and shouted, "Throw it! Throw it in front of her!"
A minute passed before thunder cracked across the desert and a small bead of glinting metal came hurtling down, the bead taking shape into the ancient hammer as it came closer into view. It hit the ground about twenty feet ahead of Cora and she stumbled as the ground crumbled ahead of her, crying out when the crater formed and she toppled down into the newly formed ditch.
"All right, kid, we're doing this kicking and screaming, I guess," Tony called as he flew down into the crater toward the fallen girl.
Cora shook her head a little as she started to sit up, forcing her limbs to push her sore body to her feet. She wouldn't give up and become a prisoner or a lab experiment, not without a fight. That wasn't how she did things even though losing seemed inevitable at this point. Her eyes fell to the projectile that had caused the earth to cave in beneath her, surprised to note that it was some kind of hammer, but willing to accept that it was her only chance for a weapon to hold them off. Cora leaned down and grasped the handle.
"Not a great idea, it won't—," Tony started, but bore witness in league with the other two men coming down the slope of the crater when the slender woman hauled the hammer from the ground as if it weighed just a few pounds.
"Well, shit," he was able to remark just as Cora clocked him across the facemask with Mjolnir, sending him flying backward into Steve just as he'd slowed down to a stop at the base of the crater.
Clint stared wide-eyed at Cora as she wielded the Asgardian god's hammer like it was nothing, just seeming a little shocked that she'd been able to put that much force behind it to knock Iron Man spread-eagle back against the dirt. In his ear, he heard Coulson venture a hopeful, "Did it work?"
"You're…not going to believe this," he murmured back breathlessly.

Nearby, eying the portal back into Asgard, a being even less visible than Cora at her most threatened paused and glanced back at the mortals scrambling about on the ground.
The hammer wasn't the passing god's problem; he already knew he couldn't lift it, so there wasn't much point in pursuing it into the crater. However, the long silence following its strike—and the potential reason for the strike in the first place—did peak his curiosity. That curiosity swiftly transpired into surprise when the man in the iron suit flew back against one of his companions with a force the passerby knew quite well.
Edging toward the crater just enough to see over the rim, he warily looked down, taking in with some surprise the woman at the center, his brow furrowing in confusion until he saw what she held in her hand.
As he processed this development with a calculative stare, he took one more set of brief seconds to contemplate the shivering portal in the sky before his gaze turned back to the woman, a slow sneer of a grin curving his lips. "Well… Isn't this interesting."
