Vox is ahead of Alastor in terms of effective in-the-moment conflict resolution, but goddamn if he isn't fucked up in his own fun little ways. They're so not done with most of these issues, but at least they're on they're way to maybe be able to have a real conversation about them!

You know. If they chose to do that kind thing. Instead of whatever they will probably do instead.

As a sucker for medical gore and aroace angst, I lack the words to express my love and appreciation for your most recent installment of 666, but your writing of radiostatic's dynamic was captivating and proved to be such a lovely read as always! I loved that you touched on Alastor's relationships with the women around him as that has always been such an interesting aspect of his character to me! I never really put much thought into how Vox's apparent avoidance of Alastor in the show could mirror Alastor's disappearance, and now it will Not leave my mind. My heart hurts for these two dorks, super looking forward to chapter 2!

"Medical gore and aroace angst" should be the title of my memoir. Honestly, this series has ended up a lot more edgy-bloody than I expected it to, since I usually tend to prefer to portray my whump/angst/violence/etc in a much more roundabout way, but it's actually kinda tipped over into, like... part of the point is how banal it is, how beside the point. The upsetting heavy-hitting bits aren't the blood, they're everything else that goes on around it. Anyway, thank you so much! <3 I think your heart will find some relief in chapter two, haha, I hope you enjoy!!

Meanwhile alastor, completely convinced that there’s no situation where vox actually loves him and is happy with the way things are—either vox wants more and is going to start asking for more, or he doesn’t actually love him and just wants to have sex with him and thus either way he is a Liar. They’re so fucking bad at this. No one is capable of being the adult here. I think they need an auspitice.

It's really funny that you said that, because that is kind of exactly the role that [spoiler] ends up playing, though in a more roundabout way, hahaha. They certainly need someone to, like, get them to be having the same conversation with each other instead of two parallel ones. I think the fun thing about writing Alastor reacting to his own feelings is just how much his reaction can change based on how things are framed for him, and it leaves a lot of wiggle room for how differently I've ended up writing him reacting to the season 1 finale in 666 vs in Happily Ever After, and Other Shit Nepotism Can't Buy.

But, god, you really nailed the description of what Alastor is feeling. <3

Literally nothing about how he read the situation was a bad take or a leap to conclusions, but alastor constantly says the opposite of what he means and refuses to admit vulnerability or friendship and what the hell else was vox meant to do with that, of course he backed off, they need to have this talk so badly

YES, PRECISELY! Like, I hope it came through that really neither of them was completely crazy to react the way they did! It's a result of how much of their communication has been nonverbal, implied, and talking around things - they'd been doing so well up until this point, but there's only so far that can take you before you start thinking that you're on the same page when really you're reading two completely different books! Probably one of my favorite lines to write, ehehehe. THANK YOU ANONNNN <3 It's kinda interesting to see how differently some people read this. Some folks thought Alastor was saying it to hurt Vox (which is how Vox read it). Some folks thought it was true (how Alastor intended it). Some folks thought Alastor was trying to fit into the mold that he thought Vox wanted from him (how I intended it). All of them make sense as readings! >:)

Who had the happiest childhood ?

well over a year later i finally tackle this question! it was at the bottom of the box because one of my weaknesses is drawing children, and another one is the necessary historical research to draw their childhoods :' ) but i really wanted to start imagining them because it's very important to the overall story i'm trying to tell here.

here's the main gang, who were children at one end of the 19th century or another. I don't really know how to answer the question (they all lived through some very rough times, even if they didn't know as much) but I can give a little bit of an explanation for the times they grew up in...

[but most importantly, who do you think was the cutest?]

Ed and Jas were kids in the early decades of the 19th century (the regency era). They didn't really have a sense of the outside world much at all (Ed in particular had a very inflated sense of self importance he has since lost) and moved around a lot to follow the fur bearing animals (typically beavers). I feel like they were often getting into scrapes like this!

Cal and Lil grew up in the 1870s when the Northwest Mounted Police were establishing the Canada-US border. Calvin doesn't realize that his childhood enemy Fort Whoop Up and Lilith are the same person, so he tends to think of Lilith as younger than him. Lilith knows better, of course, but I guess she wanted a fresh start. In some ways, they were both only a bit spoiled as kids, though Lilith was less sheltered.

Jo and Mac didn't really interact much as they were isolated for most of their childhoods and didn't really hit their first growth spurts until the 20th century. It's hard to imagine their childhoods (or that Mac was ever a child haha) but they must have been quite lonely, so I figure they had to have pretty big imaginations to cope during the times Ed wasn't around.

Nor, Red and Maddie grew up in the railroad era of the 1880s-90s, although Nor and Maddie were the railroad resort and energy princesses respectively. Red depended far more on carriages and later vehicles passing through on their way between Ed and Cal's places. [also, do not attempt to cuddle bear cubs or feed them chocolate biscuits!!]

Do those who are expelled from heaven become demons? I think you told me something like that about Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing. I also didn't understand the story of the Yellow Robe Demon very well. about the part about his romance with Jade Maiden and the whole reincarnation thing. Was he a demon in the beginning? Or did he become a demon when he left heaven?

So I have explained in a past post here of how demons are made.

From there you can see how people in heaven, or rather celestials, either leave or are expelled from heaven and turn into demons. Yellow Robe Demon has said that he left heaven from his position as one of the 28 constellations in order to be with his love the Jade Maiden. The Jade Maiden for whatever reason reincarnated into a human instead of just leaving heaven (maybe this was an easier path considering that leaving heaven without permission is a harder thing to accomplish for a servant). But in any case, she didn't remember the Yellow Robe Demon or their prior love and thus he kidnapped her. Tragic romance.

But once he was caught he was brought back to heaven and lost the demonic powers that he gained while eating humans on Earth. Here is a lost of demons that were once from heaven and became demons.

Zhu Bajie also reincarnated but he didn't lose his cultivation when he went to earth and therefore became a demon pig rather than living out his animal form in peace and waiting to be reincarnated into a human. All other fallen celestials choose to leave, with the expectation on Wujing who was banished, and it is to be expected that they turned into demons for giving into their desires and started to consume human flesh.

This is a random question, but what do you think the hunters of Artemis would be in a modern au? Like, what job would Thalia and the other girls have, or what would they all study in college?

Depending on AU, like what age groups you're shooting for, I feel like there's a decent number of options you can go for. For them as a cohesive group in aus:

All-girls school

Sorority

Girl scout troop

Rival/sister/neighboring camp to CHB

etc etc.

As for less cohesive group stuff, like jobs or college majors, probably like wildlife/environmental educators, zookeepers, park rangers, wildlife veterinarians, etc. And/or probably studying conservation education, zoology, and similar. Very outdoorsy or generally working with animals, lots of environmental education and conservation work, all that jazz.

Basically the only thing I can picture for Hunters in modern/mundane aus is them all wearing like rubber overalls up to their armpits and wading knee-deep in a swamp catching turtles. Three of them pinning down a gator Steve Irwin-style. Doing those bird of prey shows. All that jazz. Give me the perfect mesh between Thalia being punk as hell but also she gets off of work covered in woodchips and straw and animal poop. That's the vibe.

hi!!! im a hug fan of your work, and was wondering if you had any advice in regards to selling and designing adoptables? ty ^^!

Hiii thank you!!

Selling adopts and character designs is a tough spot because pricing and whatnot is based on your current audience, at least in my case. I've been selling adopts on and off for most of my time as an artist, and my earliest ones were dirt cheap and barely ever sold. (you can scroll really far back in my adoptable folder on deviantart to see this) Don't get discouraged if that happens, it's just a matter of keeping at it until your audience grows and you have the reach you need!

If you've already got a decent commissioning audience, you might do better with starting with higher prices! I base my adoptable prices on my current commission prices- so say, in my case, if it's a full-body drawn adoptable, it would be priced in-between a full-body character design ($150) and standard full-body commission ($120).

Sometimes it takes a long time for some adopts to sell, and that's ok! I gradually lower prices over time, usually once a week while the character sits idle

I can't think of anything more specific right now advice-wise, but if you have any more questions I'm happy to try and answer!

You are!!! Really!! Really!!!! Not that far off from the next planned direction of character and relationship development for these two, ahaha. Partly for 666 #6, but especially for 666 #7. Vox has spent a lot of time not really bothering to differentiate from "this is humiliating and disrespectful and that turns me on" and "this is humiliating and disrespectful in a way I actively dislike," largely because it's almost all pretty much been in the former category with Alastor up to this point, but there are a few topics that are automatically in the latter and on top of that unfortunately becoming emotionally closer with someone makes their opinions and actions hit more personally, so... Alastor's "get your shit together" arc coming soon to a theater near you!

Has anyone been involved in public/political scandals? Are city people at risk of causing those kinds of issues ?

I sat on this for a long time trying to figure out how to answer it as simply as possible, and part of the reason i struggled was the visuals and part of it was having to establish officially how "public" the characters are.

Obviously I can stretch the boundaries depending on the comic, but I think generally it's kind of like "it's not private knowledge, but they're not celebrities". Smaller town avatars might be more well known because it's harder to be immortal in a small town, but I think in bigger cities its a lot like how people here don't really care about their local reps or city staff unless they're somewhat politically aware/active. You wouldn't necessarily recognize them on the street or know them by name or title unless you interacted with them often enough.

Since it's unclear what avatars actually "do" or are "for" and they each have their own approach to their citizens, I think it's kind of just a small circle of "in the know" people even though it's not really a secret. Thus, political scandal, while it could happen, isn't really something they seek out (and wouldn't be as high profile as say, a mayor or premier scandal, and we have seen how quickly those seem to become meaningless in the current political climate.)

This all said, in Ed's case at least, there would be some efforts to keep him away from the public eye if something were to happen.

This next ask is a little tougher so it's under the cut!

I don't want to make the asker feel like they crossed a line, I just want to explain why it's a line I'm not gonna cross! Hope this doesn't come across as anything but reflective and conscientious, haha. I know I make tasteless jokes on occasion (see: body count and mac's visit) but uh obviously I don't want to make any definitive claims on something like this that will lock any one character into something more serious.
